Room was great for what we payed but a high school tennis team came in at 11;30 yelling and making all kinds of noise.called down front they said they would come up an talk to coach. Bathroom sounded like a jack hammer was going off in it from 12;30 until 1:00am then a noise from 130am until we finally checked out at 8.
The staff was helpful and answered all my questions before checking in. The room was very nice, clean, and quiet. I enjoyed having the Hallmark Channel for the Christmas movies. Having 2 desks was helpful. One was attached and the other moved around. I could sit and write. I liked the lounging couch too. The bed was great! I enjoyed having a nice tub.
We stayed at this hotel as it was the closest one to our route. FI do feel as tho the price was high. The bed squeak each time you sat or got off of it. The refrigerator made sounds and had to be unplugged. The hotel staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast variety was good. Check in and out process was easy.
Keri at front desk @ check-in was phenomenal ! Asked for a different room one not next to ice machine No Problem ! Asked for some coffee, she made a fresh batch. Room was very large and well appointed. I really like the shampoo, conditioner, body wash dispensers in the shower. So much better than bar soap & little containers, less waste, less plastic that never goes away 😳Ceiling fan was appreciated....Breakfast was fantastic and the Cinnamon Rolls are Legendary ‼️
Overall the hotel is acceptable. The desk attendant forgot to tell us when we checked in that there is no housekeeping unless you stay for 3 nights. There was not notices in the room stating to conserve your bath towels as they will not be refreshed each day. The room only came with 2 bath towels and they knew we had a family of 4 staying with them. We did not hang up our towels (no towel rods either) so when we got back to the hotel we had no housekeeping. So I went to the front desk to get 4 towels as I had to do the first night after we checked in to be told they were out of towels and here are floor mats....use those. That is SICK to give us floor mats. For the price per night in Abilene TX, you should have plenty of towels. I saw washing machines in the back room behind the front desk. Get off your butt and go wash some towels for your guests...we were not the only ones impacted by this. Also the breakfast was not very good, Marriot tops this 100%.
Overall it was a great stay and great experience. However there were a couple of issues, nothing major though. That and it was handled in a timely manner. The room was very comfortable, and very neat. The breakfast was amazing for me! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would stay again and would also recommend.
There were a few false starts on finding an appropriate room ( husband is amputee) but there was one available that worked. The room was comfortable and bed comfortable. Able to darken the room well and over all quiet so slept well except for temperature variances. I advised management of the issue
My stay here was wonderful!Shannon was so welcoming when I arrived I felt like I was @ home!As always when I stay @ HIE, bed was comfy, linens were great and everything was clean and in good condition.Robert was in charge of the breakfast food. He made sure everything was filled and hot. He was checking with the folks eating to make sure they had everything they needed.
Check in process was smooth and easy, the room was very clean and spacious, and breakfast had variety and was tasty. unfortunately, i was stuck inside the elevator for about 10 minutes, but the staff handled it well. i had to personally pick up clean towels and body gel refills, also they were out of blankets. the mini fridge did not work properly and the ice machine was broken, the pillows were too soft and thin. overall, my stay was fair or average.
The hotel accommodated our HS basketball team from The Colony. Krystal went above and beyond to make sure the boys had extra breakfast and were taken care of. Monica at the front desk was great as well in making sure they had everything they needed to stay comfortable and well rested inbetween games. Headed to the 3rd place game - Go TC Cougars!
The front desk clerk was extremely friendly, the bed very comfortable, room and bathroom were very clean and not dated, climate control worked great and common areas were clean. The breakfast selection was far too limited. I loved the fact that a server was used as health protocol for food. I will make this hotel my stop every time I travel through the area and will continue using Holiday Inn a hotel of choice
It was our 40th wedding anniversary and decided just to get away from home to go for a short ride, started just looking at the scenary and the next thing we knew we had driven almost 4 hours and ended up in Abilene. We had no room reservations, nothing. We stopped at the Holiday Inn Express and got a room at a good price. I also have a hard time sleeping at night and for me an extra cup of coffee does the trick. Asked at the desk if I could get some extra coffee k-cups, not only did I get the coffee but an extra cup and coffee creamer and splenda. The front desk was great.
Management does not care about guest comfort. Was asked to unlock pool area (WHY in the world pool is shut for season when its hot in TX is beyond me). We only wanted to sit outside to visit, and there are NO other seats, anywhere, outside! In addition, elevator inspection and/or certificate expired end of August, so there is that as well.Front desk staff was awesome, they did try to talk manager into opening up only outside seating area but it was a no-go!
This is my third time staying at a Holiday Inn / Holiday Inn Express. My first was in Amarillo, Texas... the second was in Norfolk, Virginia and now my third time in Abilene, Texas. Usually a person will say maybe 2 out of 3 were good or maybe 1 out of 3 were. I am happy to say I was pleased at all three locations. All three locations definitely met all my set requirements and standards for cleanliness and comfort at a hotel. All three locations provided me with a sense of confidence in the hotel, the staff and the location it was located at. Holiday Inn / Holiday Inn Express have set the standard for all other hotel chains to imitate. I just recently became an IHG Rewards Member to enjoy any future stays associated with IHG.
Overall experience was acceptable. Check in could have been better due to staff talking on personal cell phone while attempting to locate reservations. Breakfast was a big disappointment not because of staff but due to very limited menu choices ie no bread, pancakes or waffles. So much so we skipped second day free breakfast and went to a local cafe instead. We were also not informed by desk clerk that roof repairs were in progress and while not terribly annoying, it was surprising to hear someone walking overhead at 8am while our room was located on the top floor.
With COVID the breakfast was fair. We had eggs and either bacon or sausage. No biscuits and gravy or cinnamon rolls or pancakes . Stay would have been really nice if the elevator had not broken 2 seperate days. Hubby handicapped and has to use a cane and we were on 3 rd floor. He had to climb up and down those stairs. All the employees were really nice and helpful
Positive: Not much. Negative: I have strayed in this hotel many times before, but will never stay here again. The room was average. Hair dryer not working. Elevator broken when taking luggage. Desk clerk unconcerned. Only 2 towels in room for 4 people. Pool closed for season.
Although I was only passing through on my way to New Mexico, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites-Abilene. I was able to secure my room choice: first floor away from the elevator. Although it may seem like a minor detail, I appreciated the effort of the front desk staff to accommodate my request. Despite the close proximity of the swimming pool, it was quiet. The front desk staff was professional and courteous, from both check in to check out. I cannot think of one negative thing about my stay here. Breakfast was more than ample, with a good variety of breakfast items, all in a pleasant setting. I would recommend this place to anyone who would ask me.
We arrived early and check-in went smoothly as expected. Amenities are as stated on their website, free breakfast, pool, etc.. Our issues stemmed from unruly kids running the hallways at night knocking on doors randomly, yelling, screaming and slamming doors. This went on until 3am. The parents did nothing to control them. I phoned the front desk several times to complain but no one answered the phone.I did speak with the hotel staff in the morning and they were aware of the issues. My question was, if you knew why was nothing done? Crickets......
I travel through Abilene frequently and have stayed in many of its local hotels. This one is my favorite. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel staff is friendly and approachable. I had been on the road for two weeks when I got here. and I got my best night sleep in this hotel.
Overall a good stay and wed stay again. The things we experienced I feel may have been an anomaly, aside from the elevator that looked and sounded 50 years older than the hotel. The room was nice and the beds comfy, but a little TLC was needed in the room (i.e. loose toilet seat, mini-fridge badly needed to be defrosted). Breakfast choices were what youd expect, but the hot items werent cooked fast enough to meet demand so we had to go elsewhere. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean.
The housekeeping staff stole my wife’s wedding ring and the manager has done nothing about it. He told my wife to sit down and shut up when she came to pick it up from the place it was left. There is definitely something going on behind the scenes. So all I can say is that if you MUST stay here, do not leave any valuables or anything sentimental out because it will be taken and covered up by the management.
The front office staff was so friendly and helpful our card key did not work. The lady at guest services fixed our keys, and even walked with us to our room, rode the elevator to level 3 and used her magic key to open our room. Wheb we got into our room it was clean and bed was comfy!!
I was disappointed in this hotel comparing it to other Holiday Inn Express’s I’ve stayed at. The lobby was a mess with furniture and clutter everywhere and the “snack” area was a mess and probably hadn’t been cleaned in some time. The elevator was small and not operating very smoothly, door wouldn’t close without pushing it by hand, jerked and banged around when coming to a stop, and the walls around the elevator were dirty and scratched up. The A/C unit in my room wouldn’t turn off, nor would the temperature adjustment work. The carpet in the hallways and my room hadn’t been vacuumed and the table/counter surfaces hadn’t been cleaned. Also the mirror in the bathroom had been broken on one of the bottom corners with sharp edges exposed.
Not clean but bearable is the best way to describe this place ...our room was very dusty , big clump of hair on the bathroom floor behind the door , I checked on top of the wardrobe .....OMG sorry I did that I dont think that has ever been cleaned ... Breakfast on Sunday was a joke service was to start at 6 am but wasnt until 6:30 I took pictures of the fruit it was rotten and fruit flies everywhere the refrigerator was empty it had 2 milks some butter and cream cheese and 4 bottles of water ... wasnt impressed will probably not be back ...oh and I ask for wake up call but the phone cord was gone so we never got called ..good thing I set the alarm I took lots of pictures wish I knew how to share them ...
I strongly suggest not to stay here. The elevators have been broken most of the week. Ive been all week without any services.. The lady at the front cant hardly take the time from watching her computer screen to acknowledge that there are any issues or that you are even talking to her. Asked to give the manager my number and 90 minutes later was told that he doesnt answer his phone. Ive stayed here several times before without issues. This location has gotten bad.
Wow! Incredible service and what a room! It was HUGE - just what we needed for our three young granddaughters. They even located a crib for our youngest. First really good hot breakfast since COVID began - awesome! Relaxing time for everyone in the group and even got some business accomplished in the lobby while the girls enjoyed the over-sized room. Thanks, IHG!!
The hotel and room was nice and up to my normal Holiday Inn experiences. I gave a less than perfect score because I found a hair in the shower. Didn’t feel a need to call out the staff and make a big deal about it, but hey it is an issue. Also it was raining during my stay and the driveway was a little scary as it was painted. Looks pretty but it was slippery.Due to COVID restrictions the breakfast was a paper sack with a packaged muffin, a breakfast bar, a orange and a bottle of water. Sure miss the self serve continental breakfasts but I totally appreciate the changes to keep all concerned healthy!
You can tell that this hotel was recently renovated and updated however, the elevator is slow noisy and at times scary. The floors, ceilings and walls are paper thin and I could hear every step of the guests above me. (To be fair there were children and the guests were heavy footed) never the less it was a nuisance and kept me up awhile. But once asleep I slept well and woke up refreshed. Went poolside to relax and even though it wasnt quite water weather, the pool was very dirty. All in all I had a pleasant stay and would stay here again.
I stopped at this hotel last minute due to some travel arrangement changes and I was promptly given a room. The check in was seamless and staff were friendly. Room was spacious, nice TV, big and comfy bed, nice toiletries, but there was a spot at the foot end of the bed (on the exterior so I didn’t complain- plus it was late and I was exhausted) and the bath tub wasn’t super clean. Other than those 2 small qualms, everything was fine. I slept well, had places to plug in all my electronics, and the breakfast was served early and with a wide plethora of options. I eat pretty healthy and they definitely had good options for those not wanting a donut and hash browns- I appreciated this A LOT! Check out was automatic and my stay was probably one of the easiest and simple hotels visits I’ve had. I would definitely stay here in the future.
I thought the property was in excellent condition and asked the front desk if it was a new hotel. They replied that it had undergone a 2016 renovation. So it is very well maintained and clean. (The common restroom, however, on main floor needed some cleaning after a messy guest). Breakfast was limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, but a good selection of pre-packaged options were still provided. Nice hotel, with easy access from/to Interstate highway, gas stations and local restaurant options. Price was very affordable at this time (due to pandemic?) Great value.
During our recent stay we experienced very friendly staff we felt very comfortable, the room was clean we were having some trouble with the tv setting and no signal we call front desk and someone immediately came up to our room to fix the problem. Breakfast was excellent and the beds were very comfortable.
Clean rooms, nice fitness center, good (if small) pool, nice laundry facility, great view from the second floor. My suite was pretty nice. My coworker who stayed on the first floor said it was kind of loud. Continental breakfast was pretty standard for Holiday Inn, but I would say that the bacon was nice and crispy. Cookies were below average for Holiday inn.
I arrived and was greeted by a friendly staff member working the front desk. It was late and she was prompt in getting me situated. The noise level was a little problematic as every door shut seemed not loud but very noticeable. There was what looked like a mascara stain on one of my hand towels but it was small and was an easy flaw to overlook.Bed was super comfy, toiletries smelled nice and seemed of decent quality, room was clean, climate control worked nicely, blankets were soft, outlets were modern with USB connections.
I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The layout of the room was perfect and provided enough room to set up a pack and play for my son and gave him enough room to crawl around freely. In addition, there was a microwave, mini refrigerator, sink and extra cabinet space above the sink to store baby food and other snacks that I purchased for our stay. Room was clean and beds were very comfortable! I loved how they had the firm and soft pillows marked too. We spent a day at the pool and was provided fresh pool towels. The pool was a good temperature and was clean. We enjoyed our time. The hotel overall was wonderful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff always left a fresh room, yet, respected our privacy on the morning that we wanted to sleep in and declined service. They still asked if we needed shampoo, soap and took our trash. The front desk provided recommendations for restaurants, let us borrow paper and pens as we sat in the lobby to organize our day. The complimentary breakfast was good too (scrambled eggs.. a bit too salty for my personal taste) but I was able to find hard boiled eggs and fruit which was perfect! Overall, I was so pleased with this hotel and will stay there and recommended it in the future.
This hotel is GROSS!!! We checked in and noticed bugs on our bed. Called the front desk and they switched us to another room. The front desk staff I must say are very nice and the cleanliness of the room is not their fault. Management needs to get involved. Our second room had stains on the sheets and pillow cases, hair all over the toilet seat and not clean, a Whataburger cup left in the refrigerator, dead bugs in the light fixtures. Sadly, I could go on. It honestly looks like the room was not even cleaned prior to our arrival. I am utterly disgusted!! I do NOT recommend staying at this hotel.
I dont usually complain, and I totally understand the Covid precautions BUT, the Hotel was a mess. The pool, while closed, again understandable, was not being maintained even for aesthetic reasons and was a lovely swamp green color. The common area floors were filthy and I dont think they were mopped the entire time we were there. The garbage can outside the elevator was so full you couldnt open it. One of the beds in the room had yellow stains, which we didnt notice until the end of our stay...all I can say about that is EW.Now we spent 600.00 for 4 nights stay, thats no small sum for a Hotel in Abilene TX during a pandemic that couldnt keep up w a modicum of housekeeping. I dont normally post bad reviews as I feel that is petty and mean spirited but I can say that I was extremely disappointed in my stay and will think twice before ever using a Holiday Inn again, and we do travel quite a bit.
Check in with a friendly, efficient lady who had our room choice ready and keys on hand. Room was quiet, comfortable, and well stocked. The breakfast was hot and well prepared. The sweet rolls were fresh! The whole atmosphere was relaxing and clean. Everything was just perfect. Will definitely stay again!
Location was great for restaurant. Room was extremely nice, staff was friendly and helpful . We are on our way to N Mexico and was nice to relax when we got there. Hotel seemed new and we did not have to adjust the air. Room was cool considering Abilene was close to 100 degrees
The hotel smelled clean uon check-in, our keys were ready and waiting for us. The room was nice and large and obviously new. The bathroom could use some improvement. It wasnt as clean as it should have been, and the water pressure in the shower is terrible. But the bed and pillows were very comfortable. I would recommend, and will visit again.
My room was clean and comfortable through the night. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. My son and I stayed in a room on the second floor with two beds and in the morning about 9:30-10am we found out that our room was above the laundry room. Wow..how to put this experience into words.. I think perhaps some bracing on the heavy machines came loose. Our whole room shook and it was very loud. Well, it provided a bit of a massage while waking up in bed, we had to be up soon anyhow, so we laughed it off and packed up to leave. I can imagine it may have been quite upsetting to humorless patrons or those who wanted to sleep in.
Was just an overnight stay, arriving late on a Saturday and checking out early on a Sunday. We arrived after driving through a heavy thunderstorm and were a little on edge, but the check in process could not have been smoother, and the front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, and I LOVED the pillows (truly, I wish I knew what brand they were, I would love to order them for myself at home). Everything looked well-maintained and clean and I have no complaints. Breakfast was just okay, pretty typical hotel free breakfast, which is to be expected, so all in all, it was a good stay and if Im passing through again, I will return
This property has been beautifully remodeled. It used to a nice enough, but a bit dark. It is now gorgeously open and bright. Rooms were modern and efficient - designed with todays traveler in mind with plenty of space for luggage and a nice desk area. Charging outlets were plentiful and best of all, lighting was fantastic, especially in the bathroom. So many hotels economize on lighting, using the dimmest possible bulbs, but not this place! Breakfast was standard fare, and was a bit sparse, but decent. Still, a great place to stay and good value. Staff members were friendly, prompt, and helpful.
If the house keeping actually made the beds everyday and left you clean towels it would make things better, also if they left you coffee in your room every day that would be nice and the hotel needs major maintenance. When I got to my room there was hair from past guest in the bathtub. Disgusting. Beds never were made well, they left trash and food in the room . Wouldn’t even leave kcup for the keurig every day until I asked and left house keeping notes.
I have stayed in Abilene once per month for the past 8 years. I have stayed at every hotel at one-time-or-another. This was one of my first hotels I stayed at on a regular basis. That is until it got worn and needed a facelift. I recently stayed (went back) and it is once again a good bet (value). Pleasant atmosphere and new appointments make this hotel a worthy competitor for newer hotels in the area. Right off 20, parking no issue, and plenty of opportunities for dinning. Breakfast is okay (better than most) with healthy choices and early morning staff a pleasure (very friendly). Coffee is good!
Recently in town to move our daughter into her dorm. This hotel has completed its renovation since the last time we were in Abilene, and we were very pleasantly surprised with the results. The decor and amenities are clean and updated, and the bathroom mirror lighting is so good that I didnt need my magnified mirror to apply my make-up! The business office is in the same area as the cafe that serves your complimentary hot breakfast, so its not private, but its got 2 large computer monitors and a fax. We didnt get to explore all the amenities, but were very impressed with the accommodations for this type of hotel.
We got there tired from driving all day. Checked in and took the elevator to our 2nd floor. Opened room and it was dirty! Bed wasn’t even made. We closed the door and started back to the elevator. The elevator door had stuck open and about 12” lower than the hallway floor. With all our things we took the stairs, back to lobby! We informed the lady and she said she’s not sure what rooms are clean, so we had to wait with all our things in the lobby as she ran to check rooms. Definitely not a four star hotel. We should have kept driving.
When I started this survey I started thinking of what went wrong. If there were any areas of opportunity I knew I needed to list them here. To be honest I wasnt looking forward to being away from my family for the few days I had to travel for work but arriving at this property made everything so much better. My stay was enjoyable and I felt welcomed every time I walked in to the entrance of the hotel. I really appreciate a nice place like this Holiday Inn when I have to travel for work. It makes the sacrifice of being away from family a lot easier to accept. Thanks for the hospitality! You guys keep doing what youre doing!
We have stayed here numerous times and always find the hotel in good condition. It is a quiet place so there is little to no road traffic. The staff is always so nice, courteous and helpful. We were returning from Midland to Houston with a brand new sports car. When we arrived at the hotel, it was storming with the potential for damaging hail. The staff were gracious to allow us to park it under cover at the entrance. It allowed us worry-free rest. Thanks for your kindness.
I stayed for one night at Holiday Inn Express. The main part of the Guest room was nice. The beds were clean and comfortable and we had access to all amenities expected. The bathroom was a bit less impressive, needing some minor repairs. However, the staff are what made me give this hotel 4 stars. They were incredibly accommodating, kind, and helpful - from the moment we walked in the door to when we left. I havent met such a friendly welcome at a hotel in a long time.
The hotel was very clean and well put together. The room was also very clean and the beds nice and soft. The walls were a bit thin and we could hear people talking in the hallway and a baby crying on our floor. But it resolved itself and we slept beautifully. The breakfast was passable. The staff was nice, and we had no troubles. The location of the hotel was nice also, easy to get to off the loop. Just minutes even from the other side of Abilene.
Based on the unreasonably high room rate, we expected more than we received. The bathroom had the roll-in shower we requested but no shower bench. The front desk said they had one we could use but it turned out to be a bench for a bathtub, not a shower. Thankfully we had brought one from home with us.
This location was convenient to the interstate which met my needs. I was able to get in and out relatively easily. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was adequate. The staff was horrible. They did not greet guests, they had friends and family members lounging about in the dining area at all times of the day and night. My room was near the pool, and the sounds from the pool and the squeaky gate kept me up well into the night. The value was ok, but I would not recommend this particular location due to the discourteous staff.
Had a great room on the first floor. It was well lit with a ceiling fan and modern decor. Very nice bathroom as well. The only thing I noticed was that the back door entrance to the first floor hallway had a broken lock so you did not need to use your room key to get in, the lock was absolutely removed so anyone could walk in.
Loved the hotel great customer service and enjoyed the room it was clean and the beds were very comfortable, but the breakfast was awful all the egg omelette was burnt but the bacon was the only good thing so had to get breakfast from a restaurant, but other than that we enjoyed our stay!!
Found our room cleanliness to be questionable. Partially used conditioner/lotion, hair in the sink and a stain on the bed spread. Brought this to the attention of the front desk, who was on the phone with management and she questioned if the bottles were ever reallyDull when placed. She was empathetic, offered points and replaced the product, check the log to say it was cleaned...Well, just because it is logged doesn’t speak to its cleanliness. imho.Points are fine, but prefer a clean room and a pleasant stay.
The night we arrived we were assigned to a 3rd floor room & directed to elevator that needed repair. They only have one elevator and it was out of order. At 78 years old 3 flights of stairs is plenty, to say the least! Our room was clean but no comfortable chair for elderly to sit down. One desk chair and an old corner block sort of lounge chair (too long to just sit down on and put your back at rest). Not designed for comfort! No place to sit to watch TV or relax. Occasional table is tiny, too small for being usable. Stayed the 2 nights that we had booked ahead. We wouldnt book that room on our next trip to Abilene. Weve stayed at many HI Express and this one went to the bottom of our list. Breakfast & all personnel were great.!!
Truly enjoyed this hotel. Clean, comfortable and very spacious room that was a comfortable temperature for my arrival. Front desk person was extremely gracious and very helpful to a weary traveler looking for a nice dinner. Would gladly stay at this hotel again, and will look for other Holiday Inn Express hotels on other travels based on my good experience here.
My family came in for the night. Overall, the experience was good. The staff was very polite. The breakfast area and service was nice.I always worry about the cleanliness of the rooms. This one didnt feel so bad and was mostly what I would expect. The carpet, being carpet, I figured was cleaned about as well as it could be. Then, when checking to see if my children had dropped any toys, I found bottle caps and trash under the 1 ft section of the bed that had not been boxed in. Being that it was right there at the edge of the bed, I was glad I didnt let my littlest one play on the floor. It just showed me the room had a quick through-the-middle kind of clean. That could be from inadequate staffing, pressure of the hotel being full, or just a poor job on its own. Whatever the reason, it left us with a bad feeling leaving the hotel.
I cant tell you enough about this location. Excellent staff and very courteous. The room was excellent... very spacious. Honestly, in the past I have had issues with being able to get the perfect temp in a room... too cold, too hot once i fall asleep...but this rooms unit and overall space allowed the temp to be perfect and it didnt call for me to get up in the middle of the night to turn it up or down. Slept like a baby!! Breakfast was awesome and the coffee was great!
I pulled in after an 8 hour drive with reservations for this property. However, the staff informs me it is for the next night and not this one. I have limited funds for this trip, I had booked using reward points 10,000; I had thought, vs 15,000 for the other location in town. (Turns out they deducted 15,000 regardless of what I was told.) Back to the reservations, the Lady was very accommodating changing my room to today vs tomorrow night. I was very pleased with that. I was assigned a room and walked into a dirty room. I return to the desk luggage in hand, they assign me another room. It was clean (ish) Fresh linens and towels, but just felt stale. Possibly because I had walked into the other dirty room. I had wanted to take a bath after such a long trip to find a tub not so clean, I took a shower! As I said the staff was very nice, just seemed a bit disorganized. I would stay at this property again, however I would insist on another (cleaner room next time)
I was impressed by this Holiday Inn Express because it was an easy stay. No hassle, easy parking access, and great selection of food for breakfast. Included protein as a breakfast option, and the staff were attentive to keeping the food stocked. I was even provided assistance before I knew I needed it, as a staff member cleaned off my chair that had oatmeal on it before I sat down. I appreciated the promptness of the assistance, and they were very friendly.
We had previously reserved a room at a motel in haste (3 star) and when we arrived it proved itself to be less than that, so I called the first place I could think of which was the Holiday Inn Express and they just happened to have a handicapped room available! I am a disabled Marine Veteran in town with my family to watch my daughter play in a Softball Tournament and it was late, not to mention every hotel was booked solid for the Rodeo that weekend so it was tight trying to find a room! We were very grateful when we showed up to have a room here because we knew immediately by Holiday Inn Express’ standards that the Service, hotel, rooms food and everything else about it would be exemplary! Not only were we not disappointed but the Hostesses from both nights so overwhelming nice to the point of making us feel at home and comfortable and helping us with our every need but the food was really wonderful! Especially the cinnamon buns!! I had four of them and the coffee is really exceptional! I have stayed at many hotels but I’ve never felt quite at home as I have having stayed here at the Holiday Inn Express in Abilene, Texas!
Not good the room smelled like wet mildew or someone had cooked something in the room woke up next morning with terrible headache from inhaling the smell would have rather smelled smoke and i dont smoke I have stayed at a lot of HOLIDAY iNN EXPRESS s this one would make you not to want to ever stay at another. I feel like corporate might should make a surprise visit
I am in Abeline at least once or twice per month. There are a lot more choices for hotels in recent years (new construction) and it has been a while since I stayed at this location. This hotel has made good strides to make the rooms comfortable and the hotel is clean. In the past the rooms had a musty smell typical of a lot of older hotels, but I did not experience this at all recently. It is still a safe bet while traveling through Abilene. The value is also good. Breakfast is okay and typical of business class hotels (free). Parking is no issue at all. One thing I appreciate while traveling is a decent coffee machine (a lot of hotels are doing away with this) in the room with extra coffee (no problem here). I will definitely stay again. KME
Rooms are nicely updated and TV is nice with good channels. That is where it ends.Room had hair all over the place. Bathroom looked like it hasnt been swept in weeks. The bed was mushy, not soft by design, mushy and squeaked like an old factory machine needing oil. The bathroom fixtures were loose and poorly installed. The water pressure was a joke and the breakfast was third rate! This place is like a motel 6 with fancy wrapper. On the lighter side, the girl at the front desk was very courteous and quick to help with our needs!
Just passing through for one night - definitely recommend. Everything was perfect. Great staff, breakfast choices were varied and right temperature. Room was very comfortable and clean. Did not use gym or pool but they looked in good shape and clean. Got a great rate and room was definitely worth it. Highly recommend.
This hotel is very clean and well kept. The pool is very nice and has plenty of seating for relaxing. The muffins for breakfast were wonderful. One of the front desk help could be a little friendlluer and should not be eating sun flower seeds while working in the front. Otherwise stay was great.
This Holiday Inn Express was nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable! It had all of the amenities a business traveler might need and a relaxing atmosphere for a weekend get away! This Holiday Inn Express provided a hot breakfast that was plentiful and delicious! It was easy to get to and out of. In addition to that, the city of Abilene has a number of interesting places to visit! All in all a great place to stay in a city well worth a visit!
I always stay in hotels over motels due to cleanliness. My hotel room was a little dirty. Crumbles where by the tv and the bathroom tub was nasty for my standards if see black marks it makes me cringe. Also there was not 1 piece of soap in the bathroom. I brought my own but there was none not even by the sink to wash your hands. I sprayed lysol over that entire room. The breakfast was okay it looked very unappetizing but there a lot of choices. The staff was friendly. No noise overall it was okay. Ill pay to get a better hotel room next in Abilene i plan on going back to the city soon.
The front area and rooms were clean. The staff was friendly and courteous. When I reported the shower didn’t work, they apologized and offered rewards points which was fine. I just wonder if cleaning staff ever reported the problem. The breakfast area was clean and orderly. The omelet filling kind of hard. The rest of breakfast was ok.
When I first walked in, I was impressed with howt clean and modern the place looked. The staff was very friendly. The room was also fresh and new looking. The bathroom was clean. The bed was very comfortable and where do these hotels get their pillows from, I need to get one for home. I would definitely stay here again.
Was no reservation and was able to get a room. But the room assigned entry door was not in that good of shape, and one bed with pillows appeared as someone had taken a nap. and lights were on. But really easy access to the interstate, great staff of people working there and very friendly. This has to be a one off issue in my mind and will be addressed.
I rarely review properties that I can not give a good review, however, I expect a good quality from IHG hotels. I was disappointed that, upon arrival, the lobby area is not attractive nor inviting. We arrived in the room to find that first step into the bathroom, there was a clump of icky hair on the toilet seat. There were fur bunnies all along the bottom of the wall in the bathroom and it just did not present as clean. On the plus side, the staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating and the bed was clean and comfortable.
I used my points to stay one night at this Holiday Inn Express for a quick trip to Abilene. It was a great experience!Nice new hotel, good water pressure, cool comfortable room, plenty of channels, mini fridge and microwave, and the continental breakfast was good, especially for a free breakfast! The ladies at the reception desk were sweethearts! We felt at home and will stay here again during the next visit!
Amazing Bed! The only thing i liked. I wish more was put into the windows when remodeling than style furniture and fixtures. The window was barely that. Less than a 16th of an inch. Rattled with wind a d every passing semi! No noise barrier at all! Lighting very confusing. Switches on bed side in between usb ports and sockets. Room was stark not warm and inviting. Style over comfort was a swing and a miss. One elevator. Very small smells of electrial. Noisy bumps around. scary. Breakfast was sparce. For the amount i paid i expected a nicer place. To top off our stay at 8:30 am (hadnt check out YET) i was in the 20+year old tub. I hear loud banging on the door. I assumed my husband locked himself out. I dangerously drag myself out of tub to open the door.. Only to my shock there was HOUSEKEEPING! Coming in my room to clean! 8:30 am! Seriously. I was furious. How rude. Never never again
Check in hostess was helpful and friendly and the room was fine. However, there were several problems at this location that made the stay disappointing:1 - The elevator was not working, so carrying luggage up and down the steps was not fun.2) The swimming pool was closed for cleaning the entire weekend with a hand written sign posted on the door. How long does a cleaning take? Why on earth would the pool be cleaned on a Saturday when that is when most people would want to use it?3) The rear door card reader was not working so entry was from the front only. The staff knew about the problem, yet nothing was done to get someone to repair it.This location needs the management to step up and be more pro-active with repairs.I would not select this location or recommend it to others.
We have stayed here several times, and will stay again. Our granddaughter is a student at ACU so we will be coming to Abilene for a few years. We’ve stayed at Holiday In Express in quite a few locations. We chose this hotel because of consistency and value. The closet was very small. The ironing board and safe took up nearly all the room. The bathroom door squeaked very loudly. One room had a strong vibration, like a washing machine or something for most of the afternoon.
Staying in Abilene on business. When I arrived at the hotel, Priscilla was very attentive in making my stay at the hotel comfortable. I requested to be on the top floor away from the elevators. She was able to make adjustments… She also was very knowledgeable in answering all questions that I asked about particular places/stores that I needed go to. Even though Im there on business, my visit and stay in this hotel was very pleasant. (The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and Breakfast is Great)!!!
With the amount of money for a night you would expect clean bedding, towels and just a clean room in general. This was not the case the shower curtain was stained the tub was disgusting (have pictures of all of this). Floors were dirty coffee maker disgusting, everything was either dirty or stained. I have never had an issue with this branch of hotel but definitely not going to go to this location when I have to go back there on business again next week.. I wanted to talk to guest services if it was longer than a night but when checking it there was no one there to assist me.
As stated above it wasn’t the best stay and several years ago I used to stay at this location a lot with no problems! This weekend we had several people with our organization stay here! I called back and talked to your manager and she reduced my bill for me and I appreciated her doing that!
From the second day of my stay the elevator was not working. They maintenance man offered to help me carry my bags up on the first day that it stopped working. He was very friendly. The other staff was not as friendly. The water pressure in the shower was very low. Hotel is clean and bright and I felt comfortable while staying their.
Be careful when looking for this place. Its hidden behind one hotel, and adjacent to another with the same color scheme where your GPS will lead you.Hope that they have room. the day we arrived, there was a rodeo event in town that had the hotel mostly booked up. But they had a clean and roomy suite for us with a fold-out sofa bed which worked out fine. The breakfast area was spacious which was nice, no waiting for table space like I had to at the previous HIE. And the selection was kept well stocked.
My sister and I are in our 70s and value , cleanliness and safety are always important. That is why we always try to stay at Holiday Inn Express. The beds are great and the room is comfortable. Love th breakfast. Loved everything about our stay and as you might think we two old ladies are very descriminating in our choices.
The hotel staff was very helpful, professional and efficient. The room was very clean and comfortable. The cleaning staff was efficient and helpful. The hotel was full but very quiet. The complementary breakfast was very good and the dining area was clean. Overall, this was an excellent place to stay. We are repeat customers at this Holiday Inn Express and have never been disappointed with the facility.
For the expensive cost per room, you would think that they wouldnt have hair on the bath towels, roaches and trim peeling off the wall. 100 a night! The TV automatically turns off, I like to sleep with it on therefore if they are skimping on house keeping and repairs theres no since on saving .05 cents on that. Also I can get a studio 6 with a full kitchen and a TV that stays on for $69.00 after taxes!
We had to stay at the hotel in an emergency situation and the staff was very accommodating. Our check out was at 12:00 but my flight was not until 6:30pm. I asked for extra time and without hesitation the clerk allowed us 2 extra hours. This was great since we had a 3 year old and icy road conditions to deal with. Very clean and comfortable place to stay. Thanks for helping us out!The only issue was while trying to make a reservation using my rewards points the request was denied for the free night due to the free rooms already taken excuse. This is the 3rd time this has happened - not the hotels fault, but certainly a BIG issue when deciding on a hotel to stay in!
The staff was fine. Did not acknowledge my membership. The cleaning staff did not clean my room for 2 days. The room stink smelt musky. Breakfast was not what we expected. This hotel was great last year but this year suck. The door to backside broken and there was a sign it being broken but did not see anyone attempting to fix it.
Staff was great and attentive. Breakfast was on time and good. The room and bathroom is showing wear and tear. There was no alarm clock in the room. Upon request, a very used alarm clock was provided by the staff, but it worked. The bathtub metal drain plug was unscrewed and laying in the tub, very rusted. No problem with the A/C, nice and quiet. Overall, not the worst Holiday Inn on this 15-day trip, but not the best condition.
The staff at this hotel were welcoming and very eager to assist in any question I had. The room was clean, comfortable and easy to sleep in. I especially loved the exercise equipment with the tv attached to the treadmill. This is my 3rd time to stay here in Abilene and if my business brings me back to this area, I will definitely look for an available room here.
We use Holiday Inn Express almost exclusively. The only reason we would stay at another hotel is if a Holiday Inn Express was not available. Holiday Inn Express is always reliable in providing clean, comfortable accommodations at a great price. The breakfast is always fresh and well prepared with a lot of options. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. I dont see any reason to stay anywhere else.
Great experience overall. The staff was so nice. I didnt get my bonus IHG points for not having my room cleaned. Also, my shower had such low water pressure, it was frustrating taking a shower. The breakfast was o.k.. Again, the staff was so nice but I would have liked the points I deserved and a fully functioning shower.
On my last stay at this HIE there were two ladies at the front desk that checked me in. These ladies represented what I believe is the highest level of service one could get. They were friendly, attentive, and took the time to make sure everything was right on my bill etc. The property was clean and well manicured and the room was perfect. When I am on the road away from home it is great have this kind of service. I will be back! Could we get gravy back on the breakfast :).
I stay at Holiday Inn & Express frequently. I was disappointed in this inn. There was no one at had front desk for over 10 mi a when we were wanting to check in. There were no luggage carts to be found, we made several trips to the car and il to the room. There was sand/dirt and hair in the tub, hair behind the sink faucet and floor. There were no bath towels in our bath. Only hand towels. They did bring some up but we question if the room was cleaned.
I only stayed for one night but it was extremely enjoyable. The staff greated me by name right when I walked in(I forgot to take off a nametag) - I couldnt figure that one out until they pointed it out ;)I was immediately upgraded due to Platinum Elite and that was appreciated. The room was clean and the staff was great. The breakfast got the job done. It was adequate. I will definitely try and stay here again.
Great location for us; near ACU. Most comfy hotel bed Ive slept on recently; we dislike too firm beds and this was perfect for us. Breakfast foods and coffee were yummy. Plenty of other dining options nearby and easily accessible. Staff was friendly and helpful, especially after we accidently left some clothing.
At check in, no acknowledgment of my membership status. No additional items provided (free water maybe?). Haven’t checked whether bonus points have been added to my account. Hotel is nice/ clean/modern, but staff seems very nonchalant towards guests/members. Also- very odd that if you stay on the 1st floor, you have to take the elevator to either the 2nd or 3rd floor for ice. Gym has good equipment but the TV’s on the elliptical and treadmill didn’t work.
Very nice property in a great area for shopping and dining. The hotel is very clean but is starting to suffer from age or lack of attention. the tile baseboard in our bathroom was completely separated from the wall. Other than that the room was well furnished and very clean. I will definitely stay there again when I am back in Abilene.
The rooms at this hotel are old and dark and in serious need of an update. The breakfast was probably the worst hotel breakfast Ive ever had. The sausage must have been days old and just reheated each day. The eggs were gone most days and no one bothered to restock. There are many other hotel options in Abilene and I will definitely be choosing one of them in the future. The only good thing I have to say is that the front desk ladies were super nice.
Let me start off by saying that I am a Priority Club member and I frequently stay at Holiday Inn establishment for personal and buisness trips. My stay at this particular establishment was one that I would like to forget. The overall service provided was great. The rooms were great, the breakfast was great, and the general stafff was great. My ONLY problem that I had with my stay was at checkout. I made reservations for myself and three other colleagues over the phone. Over the phone I specified that I am making the reservations for my colleagues and upon arrival we would all provide our Priority Club numbers and credit cards. When we arrived we did so. Upon check all of our bills were completely screwed up. My card got charged twice. All of our bills had our colleagues name on the top with his priority club number and my address on the bottom. Lastly my other colleague didnt ge tcharged at all (lucky her). Anyway the clerk at checkout said she could not correct the problem and would have to notify her mamager. I called the hotel the following week to rectify our bills and the mamager stated she would correct the problem and send us the new bill statements. The new billing statements were sent out, but the bills still had the wrong names on the top with mismatched addresses. Since it was a business trip; we all needed to have our names on top of the billing statement. I called the manager back and she began to catch an attitude with me over the phone. She stated that the next time we make reservations on the phone we need to make sure we make the reservations in our own names and make sure that is divulged to the staff at check in. I calmly explained to her what exactly happened upon check in and check out and she retorted back well why didnt you guys see the problem at check out and address it there?. At this point i had just about had it with the manager and her unprofessionalism. Instead of handling the situation properly; she was completely uncouth and argumentative. I have never experienced this in all of my stays at this particular hotel chain. She did not want to own up to the fact that her employees made a mistake. Long story short; I had to step away from the phone and let my colleague handle the discrepancy because I was about to lose iton her. The icing on the cake is that once all of the confusion was settled she told my colleague to tell me she was sorry instead of being a woman and telling me herself. The managers name is Sensa i believe and she definitely needs to be addressed on how to customer service. My how experience was completely soured because of her unprofessionalism.
The hotel and room was very clean. The location has easy access to the highway and downtown Abilene. The young lady at the front desk during check in was the only the only negative. She was abrupt and busy talking to another emploee. The rest of the staff was very nice.
We were staying at this hotel for a family reunion. The staff was very helpful. I loved the fact that everyone spoke English. I forgot my toothbrush and the girl in housekeeping on our floor offered to go downstairs and get me one. Front desk was helpful with our group.
The staff were pleasant and courteous. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. When traveling through or to Abilene, this is where we prefer to stay. As a side note, the breakfast was good, as usual, but the corner configuration of the room, caused congestion when several people were trying work around one another to get to the food.
Had a wonderful stay of rest and recuperation. Great staff and easy location to the area. The room was quiet and bed was great. Grateful for attentive staff who provided an extra comforter and excellent fitness facility. The food was not the best, but the coffee was hot and great.
Overall, a good experience as with most Holiday Inn Express. The lady working the front desk at check-in was super nice and very cordial to others in front of me.One thing was the AC wasnt super cold, but enough to keep comfortable as I work outside in 100-degree weather.A portion of the wedding party stayed on the second and third floors and they were very pleased with their experience.
The air conditioner and heat did not work in this room (room 232). We had traveled 14 hours and did not realize the heat/air did not work until we were already in bed and did not want to change rooms as we were getting up at 5:00 am the next morning to travel 12 more hours. We had to sleep with the window open and there was substantial road noise. Generally, we have a good experience on the road with Holiday Inn express, but this was not a good experience.
Staff was wondering and very helpful. We needed to change prior to an event and it was earlier than check in time and they allowed us to us their bathrooms to make this happen. The rooms were great and we all had a night of great sleep. Breakfast was great like it always is.
Customer service is #1 for me. This hotel delivers. Even had quarters for laundry service available. Breakfast was served right up until the ending time. More food was continually being brought out. The room was clean and quiet even though there was a bit of construction going on during the day. I would definitely stay here again!
The location and the room were great. It was graduation weekend so there was a decent crowd. My favorite Holiday Inn breakfast item are the cinnamon rolls. I asked the hostess if there any more and she said breakfast is over. I looked at my watch and it was 9:25 and breakfast was until 9:30 (which seemed early for a weekend, but that was the posted time). Other Holiday Inns I have stayed at out go out of their way to accommodate you around meal time even if it is the evening they will go grab something from the back for you if you are in a pinch. This hostess didnt seem to have the same courtesy. Not only would she not get one, she just said breakfast over before it was even time to end it.
This hotel has been totally remodeled and is a great deal. The beds are all brand new Beauty Rest and I believe this is a better value than the Brand new Holiday Inn one exit further down. Only disappointment was the breakfast provided. It is the typical breakfast that all the Holiday Inns Express provide vexcept all the bread, muffins. etc were hard and stale. Either wasnt stored properly or reused
My son and I stayed here for a baseball camp held at ACU, located just down the road. I was disappointed in a couple of things. I was not asked or thanked for my Platinum membership upon arrival and had to call downstairs to have my Welcome points added to my account. The hotel was under construction and a scaffold was blocking the entry to the hotel. After getting into my room, I noticed that there were not any towels in the bathroom and no channel guide for the TV.The staff was very accommodating. My points were added to my account. I was brought the towels and the TV channel guide immediately. I was also allowed to have a late checkout at 2, which was greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!
The front desk staff was so kind, accommodating, and patient. I accidentally booked the wrong date on 3rd party website and she immediately helped me take care of it without a complaint. I canceled it through the 3rd party website and booked directly with her. Excellent service! The rooms were clean and spacious. I always love staying at the Holiday Inn.
Great staff assisted with serveral business center needs as well as prior room requests... good room, needs more watrer pressure to shower and light on desk for working needs. Breakfast was poor. Cold, taste of food was not fresh, almost as if it was old. Poor selection..no gravh and bistcuts as is offered at all IHG.Nees lobby upgrading and the elevator makes very serious noises and drops.
Should have been told of remodeling going on! Put on third floor and felt like the only ones there and they just threw room together to get our money. The elevator floor was so dirty and the carpet to our room was so dirty. Only one floor lamp in room, had to ask for one for night stand and none on the desk. No plugs at desk to charge our phone or iPad. Had to have someone come up to fix the drapes that would not close and nothing covering the lower windows. No hair dryer in bathroom and when we went to the pool there were no towels anywhere. We always try to stay at Holiday Inn Express when we vacation but this was the worst. I realize when you remodel how things can get but each day when done you should clean up. This was not done!
The bed made so much noise and I just spent a week iin El Paso at Holiday Inn on Artcraft. Much better stay. Every time the bathroom door was opened and closed it made a terrible squeaking noise. If I had WD 40 I would have fixed it. Elevator was broken in the morning. Windows were dirty and one appeared to have broken plastic around it. Staff was courteous and friendly.
This was our third visit to this hotel in the last three years. Our grandson lives in the Abilene area so this hotel works well for us. Our past experiences have been excellent and we were looking forward to our visit. We checked in on 09/22 around 2PM. Upon entering the room (230) we noticed the whole wall and desk area was vibrating from a very loud noise. I tried the room phone and it was not connected so we went back down to the front desk to ask for another room. The woman working the desk never offered another room, but instead stated they would turn off a VERY large exhaust fan they were running?? We returned to the room which indeed was now quite. All was good till approximately 945PM, when a new, but similar ( A/C fan??) loud noise was coming from a different area? I used my cell phone to call down to the desk, to again, request a different room. The woman who answered stated she would look into the noise and call me back? Again, never offered to change our room, and NEVER called me back?? The noise lasted around 15mins. On a minor note. I had to ask and verify that my points would be credited to my account, usually that information is offered. In general, very poor customer service!!
I appreciated staff finding us an available room to fulfill the booking requirements; however, going from two beds to one was a little difficult. It was obvious that the room had not been cleaned since the room was renovated, but the staff were very nice and tried to help the best they could. On the other hand, the breakfast was amazing!
The price was too high for the services. The breakfast food was old and actually made me sick. The Cinnabon was hard as a rock, the eggs tasted like paper. There were four other people who came into breakfast while I was trying to eat and all of the left without eating and made comments about the choices. I did enjoy bed.
One of the best in Abilene! We stayed during a dove hunting trip and the hotel was quiet and we all slept great. The manager at check-in was accomodating for allowing us to sleep on the 1st floor. The building was having its roof replaced so it was nice that we slept on the bottom floor. We will stay here again if given the opportunity.
Other than getting the actual location, everything was fine. The atmosphere was a little more stark/modern than im use to, especially in the dining area, but we enjoyed the free evening cookies. Everyone was most helpful. They did close the pool down at 11pm, so that noise ended.
The reason I gave such a low score is that the room my son and I were placed in was the last room in the hall next to an outside door. The door was used throughout the night and early morning. It was not a good experience. We love HI and will keep using them but this was the worst stay experience we have ever had. Hoping the next one exceeds our expectations. IHG did give us points back and made the stay a little better.
Everything I have come to expect from a H.I.E. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the guest room was clean. Definitely one of the coldest a/c units in any hotel I have ever stayed. Some of the furniture and carpet in the hotel could stand to be updated/ replaced, the pool needed a cleaning, and the back door wasnt latched closed when we returned both nights.I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Abilene.
Our stay was very comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed the stay very much. We would stay here again if the opportunity arose. The price was affordable and the room was great. We were pretty travel weary and were happy to have such a comfortable place to stay the night. We really like the snoozaplooza that was going on while we were there, we didnt have to rush out the door by 9 or 10 oclock.
Evening clerk gave wrong check in card to our room and had to call desk and she came up with right door cards. Had put wrong room number name and room number number on first check in cards. Ask if had blankets and said yes. Didn’t attempt to move to retrieve one. My friend ask for a clean cup, said sorry didn’t have any. Breakfast was a disappointment. No coffee in breakfast area. Had to go behind check in desk to receive a cup of coffee. Spent two nights. We had a washcloth a piece and bath towel a piece. We did not know we wouldn’t have clean towels etc the next day. Who wants to use the same washcloth two days in row? Will not be using this Holiday Express or any other in this chain. Very unhappy.
We have been traveling across the United States west to east and only stay at Holidy Inn Expresss whenever possible as we have found the staff at each and every one great and the rooms very comfortable. We always have the best breakfast before we head out in the morning and would recommend a stay at this chain to friends and family or anyone looking for quality at a great price. Also, the customer service we have received when we call to upgrade or change a room reservation has been quick, easy and followed through with efficiency. Keep up the good work!
Stayed two nights. The first night was reward points. The second night was paid for. Room was fairly nice. Almost a suite size. At first glance, everything works fine. Found some dead crickets around room. Front desk very nice and accommodating since original reservation was only one night. She said we do need to sign a paper in the morning for the second night, but that we’ll have the same room. The hotel is nestled among several other hotels and is on a one-way frontage road—of course Fred went the wrong way. At night this place appears to be confusing to find—even in the daytime it isn’t easy to find. The pool was empty and apparently isn’t available all winter. Wifi takes a little time, but finally links up. Got in after 8PM, so much of what we notice in the daytime will have to wait until tomorrow. Nice, comfy bed. Heavy feet upstairs. Breakfast room plenty roomy. All the normal things, but seems like refilling items didn’t take place quickly—coffee and eggs. Shower worked perfectly. Toilet paper holder is a bit rusted.
After spending the previous night in a local hotel, I was dissatisfied with the over all quality. The bed was uncomfortable and made it hard to sleep. The next night I suggested we move over to Holiday Inn Express. The young lady at the front desk was so kind and check-in only took a couple of minutes. The room was amazing and the bed I wish I could have in my own home. We needed a good nights sleep and we got it.
Stayed here one night while in Abilene. The hotel appeared to be recently remodeled. While new items, there were some holdovers - A/C units, bed platforms, and some smaller items. The room was comfortable. Its mostly what you would expect from the brand. Overall, I was pleased with the stay.
Doors dont always close on their own, but never came back to an open door from cleaning staff, and other then when I first started everything in I always lock the door immediately behind me, so ended up working out. Otherwise, breakfast was up to par for a HI Express, its set behind another hotel, so dont get much highway noise (I didnt notice any). Staff were kind and friendly.
Website mentions nothing about lack of food services due to COVID19, but there is NO discount for these lack of services. Also, they told us that they will not clean rooms unless we are staying multiple days. Had to go to front desk to get towels and washcloths, which were stained and looked dirty. Girl at front desk was embarrassed and apologized for the owners lack of care for this place. We will not use them again.
The hotel was a very big disappointment and when brought to the front desk attention she merely shrugged it off?! Which was very confusing seeing as I have always stayed with hotels that “care” about their guest! Which we were disappointed she didn’t! The pool being closed has NOTHING to do with the cleanliness of the pool! The weather permits for you all to stay on top of that! We should have been able to sit by the pool on a nice Texas evening while on spring break! But we couldn’t! Or at least chose not to because of how awful it looked! We had teens who were looking forward to a dip because the 800 number told us y’all had a outdoor pool that was open and functional!?! Disappointed all the way around!
This place is kind of a dump. And I say that from my my gut and many years as a hotel guest , many times at holiday inn and other IHG properties.I’m not sure what the heck I was thinking when I book this hotel online...The pictures of the property looked good on the outside ...Try to get a room on the first floor if you can.The elevator is old , very slow going and rickety and cosmetically very worn. And there is only one so if it ever breaks down or needs maintenance work you will be taking the stairs. No back up elevator...The back entry door lets you go out but you cannot come in.How inconvenient is that?Even though there is a card key holder it does not work. That was very disappointing. And as with almost every IHG holiday inn property that I’ve ever stayed in the water pressure in the shower is ridiculously low.The rooms were clean and comfortable.Don’t count on a breakfast unless you are one of the first to arrive on scene... lf you miss out there will always be leftover prepackaged food loaded with preservatives.Housekeeping will knock on your door in the morning even if you have a “busy”or“do not disturb“ hanger on the doorI’m just sayin’Real talk here.

2022-05-18A great place to stay. The hotel is a delight for a great nights sleep. The room I stayed in was spacious and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the shower hot.The hotel is pleasing to all the senses and especially to my nose in that there is a neutral scent throughout. The staff is very friendly, and they came up straight away when my TV wasnt working and they fixed it.Breakfast was wonderful. To my surprise, the scrambled eggs were light and fluffy and delicious! The bacon was real bacon and also fried just right. Its conveniently located to many restaurants.A few detractors: Getting in to the hotel could be easier, the shower head is too low, there was hair in the tub, there could be more overhead lighting in the room and electronic connectors for my phone and tablet that work. The pool looks great but its closed for the season (why?), and the fitness center is small but you could still get a good workout. So overall its worth the price for all the wonderful things that you get.

2022-03-20Just passing through and spent one night here. Check in was pleasing with very nice and helpful staff. Requested several items and was pleasantly helped. Room was clean and everything operated properly. Breakfast was good. I’ve had better, but not complaining one bit. Coffee was hot and juice was cold. Great place to stay.

2022-02-17My dear sweet mother in law pass away and we had family coming in from out of town. I called the hotel and they were very nice and blocked some rooms for us. We also rented the meeting room for a luncheon and everything came out perfect. I want to thank all the staff for their kindness and everyone said the hotel was very nice.Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts.Mrs. Hill

2022-01-21Nice place. Breakfast is missing waffle machine and the omelets were over cooked. Everything else was great. The receptionist was super nice when we checked in. I believe her name was Shannon. Thank you for the warm welcome! Rooms are clean and beds are perfect.

2022-03-28This hotel is very close to Abilene airport/ a Walmart and Cracker Barrel restaurant. The best part about this hotel would have to be the staff. Everyone we came in contact with was very nice and helpful. It really made a difference because we were in town visiting family and had never been to Abilene. All the ladies at the front desk were super nice and friendly. Rooms were clean and location felt safe. Thanks to all the front desk ladies who made the stay great.

2022-06-20Nice hotel. Pool needed cleaning. The morning breakfast was great! Even with my food allergy I still found things to eat. Would have been 5 stars but shower and water pressure were not great. Still would recommend.

2022-02-21One of the best IHG properties that I have stayed at. The bed was super comfy, and the room was clean and well kept. This was my first time in Abilene and I would highly recommend this location to anyone staying in the area. I didnt get her name but the front desk clerk who checked me gets 5 stars! She made me feel welcome and had a warm, caring demeanor. One recommendation to the hotel manager....do not lose her as an employee.

2022-06-14Positive: Staff was friendly. Room smelled clean. Breakfast had a good variety. Negative: The carpet in the room needs to be cleaned. My baby was crawling around and her legs and feet black when I picked her up.

2022-05-08We travel to Abilene frequently to visit family, and the location, cleanliness, and value of this property make it a great option for us every time we come to town. The beds are very comfortable and the hot breakfast is good, too.
