Looking forward to meeting Jennie Allen here today. Shes the Founder of the IF Gathering. Just heard about the IF Gathering two years ago and this will be my first time to attend in person.Cant wait to read her book - Find Your People. It sounds like a very good book to read coming out of the pandemic!
October was my first time at this bookstore, and I have to say that it was an amazing experience! I was there for the Tabitha Brown book signing and had purchased my ticket/book in advance online at the store. I called to find out if they had accommodations for people with disabilities. I was told that they would certainly see what they could do and informed me to call when I arrived in the parking lot. To make a long story short, I was escorted by my son and immediately got discouraged by the extremely long line that had formed well before the doors were to open. When we arrived the staff beckoned for me to enter ahead of everyone else, held the door for us, offered us a chair and water. As Mrs. Brown was finishing greetings with some personal friends, they said to me She is ready to see you now. As I walked towards my role model, l I began to cry and received the biggest warmest hug from her, and was even allowed to video tape and take pictures with her! This was a gift from my son for my 60th birthday and Interabang staff and Mrs. Brown made it epic! My family and I will be making future book purchases from your location. As with most people during this pandemic, I am very cautious about being in crowds and thanks to you we practically had to store to ourselves! Thank you for going above and beyond in customer service and for amazingly personalizing my experience. I wish your bookstore much success.
I love this bookstore. I love it’s enticing blue door and yellow font. I love how the second I step in everything around me goes silent and I’m a curious kid in another world.I’ve only been a few times so far but I plan to go every weekend if I have the chance. You’re always greeted when you walk in and asked if you need any help soon after. I like that it’s not overwhelming in size. It’s cozy and personal. There are small cards set up under many books with mentions about what it’s about or why it’s a favorite from people who work there. I’m beginning to trust the recommendations of these unknown people. I’ve only met Richard who was very kind, pleasant and accommodating the few times I’ve been. The handful of books I’ve chosen based on those cards have been some of my best reads in years!
In an effort to support more local businesses, I ordered 2 cookbooks from here by calling in to place my order. The books arrived in the store sooner than expected, and I appreciated the friendly staff who helped over the phone and in store. I found the bookstore online and hadn’t heard of it before, even though I’d driven by countless times in my 7 years in Dallas. So grateful I found it and will be sure to make my next book purchase from there too!
Wonderful bookstore to support if youd rather support a small business. They will order what you need if they dont have it in stock. Very cute kids area with items in all price ranges, and they have storytimes and events for children and adults. Their website and online ordering is super easy and their staff friendly and knowledgable.
So much for celebrating independent bookstore day. I ordered a copy of “in the tall grass” and called to confirm they still had them in stock. The guy said yes so I decided I didn’t need to drive to get the copy. Today, I get a cancellation policy after I sent a few friends to go grab my copy apparently.
Looking for a locally-owned bookstore? This is your heaven. We stayed for hours and I had to pull my kids out the door. Amazing selection of books on a wide range of topics, helpful staff that KNOWS BOOKS, and a great local feel. They know their customers well and can help find the right fit for anyone. We’ll definitely be back!
I cannot recommend this bookstore enough! Not only are they are phenomenal, local option to support, their customer service is truly top notch. There was a bit of a delay in my order, and after I reached out to the team, I received a quick response. Not only that, they went truly above and beyond to get my book to me- even offering to hand deliver it!! Where else do you get that level of phenomenal customer service?! The book was in my hands just a few hours after I checked in. I am happy to support Interabang and encourage everyone to check them out.
I love this book store. It is bright and colorful. The proprietor is adorable. He has a love of books and was willing to spend quite a bit of time with me. With his help I was able to find everything I needed, and a couple of gems I found along the way. I cannot wait to go back. I truly feel stores like this are a treasure and they are disappearing too quickly.
Id heard of this place but had not visited until recently. Honestly, I was surprised that an independent bookstore would have been open as long as this one has been. Its billed as a curated bookstore, meaning it does not offer a huge selection. No matter. I found what I wanted in the history section. The staff were friendly and helpful.Yes, all the books are priced by the amount on the cover. Yes, I could have bought it on Kindle for about half the prices. But theres something still rewarding--to me at least--about holding a new, hardcover book in my hands. I will be back.
I called the store and asked if they had a copy of a book that I was unable to find at Half Price Books. He said they did and I headed that way. Without me asking, he had held the book up front and had it ready for me when I walked in. He was super personable and very helpful. If you want a local bookstore experience with employees that are genuinely happy youre there then I recommend Interabang Books.
This is a great book store! I love shopping here and supporting local business. They host a variety of events, the staff is welcoming and helpful, and theyve been able to quickly order me anything Im looking for thats not already in stock. I really appreciate that the staff is available to talk about books, but also just lets you browse to your hearts content.
I stopped by the store one evening when I was in Dallas for work -- wow. The staff members are so kind, well-read, interesting, and helpful. Both people working in the store asked me about which authors I liked to read and then gave thoughtful recommendations (and I love the books they recommended). I will definitely return every time I am in Dallas.
Cool new independent bookstore! Definitely would recommend stopping by if youre looking for a new book or a gift. Staff and friendly, helpful, and really knowledgeable. The store is cool and has a wide variety of books for every age and interest. They also have tons of fun events and have authors and book signings regularly. Great bookstore!
I will start with the positive points of the bookstore. The staff is very helpful and the books are well curated. However, we were shown what is called an edgy section, and we recommended a book in that section. An employee misrepresented the book and said that it was a book about a woman who wants to change careers, when in fact it is a book that involves human sex with animals. My husband and I were obviously taken aback when he started reading it. I definitely recommend this book store for the collection of books that are available, but I would suggest that the staff give a disclaimer on books like this that they recommend. We are open minded readers, but we try to avoid the perverse.
I loved this small, quaint bookstore. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable and they have array of book signings from authors. I loved that there are generally extra signed copies of the books in case you missed out on the actually signing. My favorite signing and symposium was with Girl Scout CEO, Sylvia Acevedo. Love Interabang Books in lieu of a big box store.
I found this bookstore through the IndieBound website when I wanted to preorder a book. Ive been trying to support local places more and more, so preordering through somewhere local sounded a lot better than going through Barnes and Noble or Amazon. I am so glad I did! Picking up my book was my first experience actually inside the store, and it was just wonderful. Its a well curated, fresh and modern store, and all of the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. I will absolutely be coming back soon!
This is a very lovely bookstore for browsing, recommendations, or picking up a gift. 📚🎁I probably wouldnt stop here if I were looking for something specific as the selection isnt super extensive.Good selection of gifts, new releases, and a really fun kids area. I loved the ambiance. All in all a great shop.
This book store doesn’t have the feel and look of a real reader-friendly atmosphere. It doesn’t have a suitable place to relax and peruse the merchandise (books). There is no coffee shop or place to congregate. This store is designed solely for foot traffic. This is not a place for authors, readers, or friends to hang out. The book selection is limited. The store seems congested.Other than the books and occasional author events, there is no quaintness or ambience. Hyped by the Dallas media establishment, the owners have an elitist approach - wanting to cater to the affluent of north Dallas, but there is a Barnes & Noble right across the street with a better environment that already does that. This store adds nothing new - poorly conceived and designed.
Best combination of new and old-style bookstores with a lot of attention to detail: staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a great collection that has been smartly selected. Books of high quality, with great online reviews; some bestsellers and other great ones (popular does not always equate to quality). They feature writers that are of interest and deserve attention. There is a large ‘suggested reads’ area as you arrive, to your right. If you want an interesting new read or buy one as a gift, this is your place to go. Although smaller than a major chain, it is smarter and a fresher experience. There are always new books to see.The store is popular. The reserved books shelf behind their counter is crowded, and pictures of their events show standing room only. They bring in authors frequently with 12 in August 2018!One of the best childrens books areas I have ever seen in any bookstore: The smart layout puts the childrens area in the back, with their own reading area. This keeps children interested in books and from wandering off. Upon thinking about it, this is the largest section, but you couldnt tell that due to the layout. The same smart selection and suggested reads sections of books they have throughout store is present here. Thus, this section was built and is managed with the same level of thought as the rest of the store. Furthermore, the staff is very kid friendly, as evident by my children often asking them many questions which they answer enthusiastically. They carry a selection of additional items that are interest to book lovers. Some examples include: writing instruments (high grade pencils, Lamy Safari and a few other nice pens, journals (all high quality), puzzles (very good selection), pads, and small bags and satchels. It is relaxed. There is open space where you can sit and browse through potential selections. The front area is more open than you might expect of an independent store and it just makes you want to come in, grab a book and sit down. They have a smaller science-fiction and fantasy section based on the relatively proportion devoted to this group as compared to the major chains (new and used). Major chains carry a large assortment because they can afford the extra space, buy based on national trends, and most of these books are regular paperbacks with a smaller margin. They can return the paperbacks as remainders (which is a terrible waste). Interabang carries mostly trade paperbacks and hardbacks. Small independents cannot get stuck with non-moving books. However, of the books they have, they have newer ones, popular authors, and they have ‘suggested reads’ cards. Rather than being neglected, they know where to compete and focus on a smart sci-fi/fantasy selection rather than just whatever is produced by the publishers. They recently had an author from this genre come in and do a reading. I still recommend sci-fi/fantasy readers check this store out as with a more select group of books you will more easily find a gem; as well as see some of the other great books they have.As a child, I would go to bookstores and explore; hang out and check out dozens of different books from different sections. With most bookstores gone due to Amazon and then the few remaining chain stores being carbon copies of each other, resorting to the same old books, and staffed with less people stuck in information booths that thrill went away. Used bookstores are fun but they always had the problem that the selection of what I like changes very slowly; especially now with more electronic books. Until this bookstore opened, I stopped doing this activity. By chance, I walked in on their first or second day with my children. Now, I often take my children to this store; and they love it. We can browse in our sections. The staff is accessible. They interact with you or if you prefer, leave you alone. It is giving my children the same joy of exploring bookstores that I had when I was their age.Check em out!
Great, friendly and hospitable staff. Clean and spacious. I found what book I was looking for and also was surprised to learn the author would be there signing books. I was welcomed back for the signing as well as given a calendar for all the other signings and monthly events.
Wonderful place--a book lovers dream store. Helpful and well-read staff. The collection has all the best sellers across genres as well as obscure and indie presses and a veritable smorgasbord of books in translation. Always ask for a recommendation and youll love what they suggest!
Pre ordered a book from an indie publisher in march, when covid caused the release date to be pushed back i asked when i could expect to see it, they told me sept 1st. and since then no updates. in july people were able to buy this book from other bookstores around the country and from amazon, since i saw this happening i asked again in august, no reply. so i asked to have my order cancelled, no reply. sept rolls around i leave a comment on their instagram, no reply. I ended up just buying the book from amazon in this october, and interrabang, until they show proof of this book to me or show proof of a cancelled order, has basically stolen $16 from me. i know not that much but i could use that money for gas or somethinganyway buyer beware they may not get your indie publisher book you ordered or maybe they did they just refuse to communicatemaybe this will get their attention and if it does it shouldnt take leaving a 1 star review to get an email back about a books status
My wife and I loved the thoughtful notes on favorite books by the staff. Those notes sold us on two of the four books we purchased. As we browsed, each person working there came up to us once to check on us, but no more than that, which was just right. We book lovers have to collectively have to make sure Interabang is successful! How much of a shame it would be otherwise....
Brand new full service North Dallas independent bookstore. Heard about this new store from a close friend. I have a large private art library and so my review is of their arts and photography section. Brand new titles from Phaidon, Prestel and Penguins Arts. Would be nice to see D.A.P. (distributed art publishers) titles so we will see. You will pay full retail price--but its a perfect store if your looking for instant gratification in a world where Amazon has all but taken over. Helpful staff, a small selection of current periodicals and a well stocked childrens department.
Large mystery and childrens section, decent YA. No romance section to be found, which is unfortunate considering romance is the number 1 selling fiction genre. It is an indie bookstore which Im always game to support, wish they carried what Im most interested in buying.
Everyone was very welcoming and nice, i wanted a romance novel and the young man there helped me find one i really enjoy reading, he asked me questions and pulled out a bunch of books he thought id enjoy, (the selection he pulled out for me was a very nice and interesting, thank you for that!) definitely see myself getting books from there again!

2022-07-20My sister and I felt so welcome and at home In this local bookstore. The shop is so well-stocked with trending and new books (love that!!) there was a beautiful childrens section. The ladies working there were helpful as it was our first time, and they gave us some 5 year anniversary swag and put me on the mailing list. Can’t wait to come back!!

2022-01-21Amazing. This local bookshop is such a hidden gem. The crew here makes you feel welcome and right at home. The cleanliness of the store only adds to the good vibes here. Browsing their selection is easy and they have a really wonderful children’s section. Also worth noting, they now carry my new children’s book “A Kids Book About Boredom”. I always like to support local instead of big business, and nothing beats the smell and feel of a new book. Highly recommend this bookstore.

2022-07-23Wow! What a place. I was thinking about grabbing a new read before starting back to teaching in August. Interbang DID NOT disappoint. They had recommendations and everything was exceptionally clean and organized. Thank you so much

2022-08-23Im really disappointed. I went Sunday, very excited to have found out about a local independent bookstore. I walk in, and nobody greets me. Not a huge deal. Im the only Asian person in the store. For the next twenty-plus minutes as I browse, the store librarian literally had a full conversation with every other person in the store except me. Not even a can I help you find anything? He even gave an ode to the western genre. When I went to try and make conversation that a book I picked up looked really cute, they didnt even try. I really wanted to enjoy the store and experience since I fully believe in supporting local and bookstores, but this just sucked.

2022-06-01Yesterday was my first time shopping at Interabang and I will be coming back for more! Interabang was the only store nearby with a copy of the book I wanted (I checked their online inventory, very helpful). When I arrived, Amy was incredibly helpful, courteous, and engaging while hunting down the book on their shelves. It was a wonderful experience and I am glad to be able to find a unique book and support a local bookstore with great customer service.

2022-07-06I was on the hunt for a book for a coupleof weeks. Online retailers were out ofstock. None of the big box stores evencarried the title. After realizing that this isan uncommon book, I called around.Interabang had a copy and offered tohold it for me!Opening the bright blue door andwalking into the store for the first timewas a pleasant experience. I was askedto wear a mask; staff were being extracautious during this phase of thepandemic. I didnt have one with me, sothey kindly offered to give me one.Books are clearly organized, and trinketsand shelf candy were also for sale (raygun bookends, anyone?)The book selection was, frankly, fantastic. I am grateful that a shop likethis exists in DFW. Youll be paying MSRPfor every title, but youve gotta supportlocal, right? There were so many titles Iwas able to add to my Goodreads wantto read list that I had never encounteredbefore. The staff were courteous andfriendly while I was browsing, and werealso open to help me with any questions. If you cannot find your title of choice,Interabang offers book ordering servicesto the store and even to your home.Cool.A couple of things that could beimproved:1. The handwritten staff book notes werecute, but often illegible. Perhaps allowthe staff member with the besthandwriting to produce the cards? Imsure the written reviews are helpful! Justwish I could read them.2.1 am 65 tall. The lowest shelves areonly a few inches off the floor. Iunderstand not everyone is as tall as Iam but I would love to be able tocomfortably browse that 1/3 of the storeinventory.Enjoy the experience of going toInterabang and grabbing that hard tofind book! I cant wait to return :)

2022-02-11I love Interabang. It’s difficult to find local bookstores in Dallas and Interabang is one of the best I’ve encountered. They have a good variety of books, can order whatever you need, and have wonderful community events frequently. Shop local! Interabang makes it a dream to do so. 😉

2022-02-13Great local bookstore, staff has always been great and the layout of the books naturally draws you through the store, very clever way to get people to buy more haha!I have made a few orders online that I kept forgetting to pick up, when I eventually did return, they always had the book waiting, even after months. I really appreciate that and look forward to visiting more!

2022-04-01Small but powerful. If they dont have it theyll order it for you. Support your local businesses - order it and treat yourself to another outing when you go to pick it up.
