JD is incredible and perfectly captured our wedding day. We used him for engagement photos, rehearsal dinner and wedding day, he made everything super relaxed and easy and we couldn’t be happier with how the photos turned out! The best part is JD never got in the way or interrupted anything, yet was able to capture so many amazing moments perfectly. Would definitely use JD again.
Hiring JD was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day! I’m a wedding planner and he was incredibly professional and timely throughout the process. He captured so many moments of the day exactly how we remembered them (and then even better). I was a little twitchy and nervous to start the day and his super chill personality helped chill me out a good bit. We got back so many amazing photos (including our incredible black and whites!) and I couldn’t be happier with the process overall. I’d give him a hundred stars if I could!
Choosing John David as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions my wife and I made together for our wedding on October 29, 2016. We met JD at a bridal event in July 2015 filled with countless other photographers, and all it took to make our final decision was a simple greeting from JD, “Hey I’m JD, and I am going to be your photographer.” From that moment on, we not only picked the BEST photographer ever but gained a lifelong friend. JD made us feel so comfortable and kept us at ease during our engagement shoot and our wedding day. He was quick with responding to emails and texts, and communication was never an issue when we were planning an Austin wedding living in Houston. It was so nice to have someone know where exactly to go and what exactly to do for the perfect photos because my wife and I, like a lot of couples planning a wedding for the first time, had no clue what to do. He made sure we were ok throughout the day, always checking up on how we were feeling, and it just felt all so natural and easy; that is SO important to have when the day seems nonstop with following the wedding day timeline. I did weeks of research to find the perfect wedding photographer and knew JD was the one as soon as I came across his work. He shot our engagement and wedding photos - he is so kind makes you feel so natural. They came out better than we imagined and are our most cherished possesions. Simply works of art. My oh MY! We LOVE John David Weddings! Booking JD was one of the best and easiest decision of the entire wedding process -- and thats coming from a COVID bride! We just got our photos back, and we are so pleased. The photos are excellent in quality- highlighting the small details and moments of the day and, of course, the big ones. I highly recommend you use John David Weddings for two reasons: 1) JD is a professional through and through. We started our ceremony a bit late, and JD did an incredible job getting all of the family photos and couple photos after the ceremony without losing any of the beautiful sunset light. He knew exactly what he was doing the entire night without seeming stressed or under pressure. A true professional! 2) He is one of the kindest humans I know! He is gracious, kind, and truly on your side throughout the entire process. I am so grateful that we booked JD as our wedding photographer!
JD took the most beautiful pictures for our wedding. I cannot recommend him enough. He traveled to Dallas from Austin, and took on a venue that was very technically challenging with a lot of windows and reflections. We adored everything that he did, and my sister even hired him for her wedding two years later. He is unobtrusive, fast, sweet, and the most talented photographer Ive worked with. Love love LOVE him!
JD was the photographer for our engagement photos, our destination wedding in Italy, and most recently our maternity and newborn photos. I could literally go on for days talking about how wonderful this man is, but I will try and keep this short. If you are seeking a talented, kind hearted, FUN, creative photographer look no further because JD is your guy. His photos speak for themselves. He is able to capture the most important moments in a truly unique way. Besides his obvious talent, you will want him by your side all day during your wedding (or any event) because he puts you at ease. During my wedding I leaned on JD as a friend, as well as photographer. He was able to help manage our videographer (although he had never even met him) and organized our family for photos flawlessly. One of the best things about JD is his ability to capture these important moments FAST so we didn’t have to spend hours on hours during our wedding day standing around posing for photos. Everyone was impressed with how quickly our wedding party photos were taken. Choosing JD as our photographer was the best decision we made in regards to our wedding. JD was our wedding photographer; he took our engagement, bridal, and wedding photos. At each of the 3 sessions, JD was great to work with and so prepared. He has an incredible eye and wonderful vision for what each session should be each time he gets behind the camera. We had the pleasure of working with JD for our October 2021 wedding in Austin. I could not recommend him more! From the beginning of our wedding day, until the very end he was on top of it! I told him a few things I wanted captured at our wedding and he went above and beyond my expectations. My husband also (last minute) told him about a specific shot we wanted to get after the ceremony and JD without any question captured the moment perfectly.JD is warm, friendly, easy going but also direct when needed (for group family shots!) We are telling everyone we know in Austin about him. My guests and family are blown away by all the candid photos captured of them throughout the night; which was important to us. If you’re looking for a professional, talented and efficient photographer who is also quite the artist, then JD is your guy!We also received our photos after our wedding SO fast! JD is an extremely talented individual. Right from making me and my wife comfortable in front of the camera, to managing our guests with a smile - JD has it all covered. He is very professional, responds to your questions within a day and even delivered our wedding photos exactly when he committed to. However, more than his professionalism, we were awe-struck by his skills with the camera. We had already looked at his website and loved his style, but the way he captured raw emotions at our wedding was remarkable. My family and I go through the photos almost daily and we have absolutely no complaints! JD knows exactly how to use natural lighting to his advantage; almost every other picture he took of us looks like it could be on the cover of Vogue. We will definitely recommend JD to all our friends who are planning to get married soon - 10/10!
We hired JD as our wedding photographer, and it is truly a joy for me to write about the experience. When you hire JD, you do not simply get a photographer -- you get so much more. Of course, he is first and foremost a photographer, and an excellent one at that. JD has an eye for detail, yet he managed to capture the entire day without being in the way. I do not recall really seeing JD at all during my wedding, yet our photos are filled with special moments and details of the day. One of the things I was worried about was posing for photos, but JD clearly has experience making people feel at ease (he is friendly and personable) and he provides easy instructions that resulted in beautiful photos. The photos JD took of our wedding fill me with so much happiness. As if that weren’t enough, JD became an unexpected advocate for me on my wedding day. While I was supposed to have an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, we had to move everything inside because of heavy rain. JD encouraged me to make decisions that would make my husband and me happy, as he smartly reminded me that we would only have one wedding day. But perhaps the most surprising thing that JD did, and one of the things I most appreciated from anyone on my wedding day, was sensing that I was overwhelmed by certain guests and tactfully helping me out of the situation. I simply cannot stress how much that assistance meant to me, and how I will always be thankful that JD was around. We plan on hiring JD for more photo sessions in the future!
JD is beyond amazing! Not only are our wedding and engagement photos great, but the entire experience working with JD was awesome. From the very beginning, we felt so comfortable with him, and I think it ultimately showed through in our photos. JD’s calm and sweet demeanor made two very awkward people feel at ease in front of a camera :) On our wedding day I never felt like I was being followed or tracked down - he somehow managed to be everywhere without even noticing it. I’ve even had guests compliment how friendly he was toward them at the wedding.JD clearly understands what an important role he plays in his clients’ special day. JD was a great photographer and we are very happy we had him capture our wedding! He was very dependable, patient, and creative, all the things you would want in a wedding photographer! :) One of the best things about JD (besides of course the gorgeous pictures he took) was how low maintenance he was. After selecting him as our photographer, JD did all the work and was even helping us out on our wedding day with more than just photography. JD was great at being in the background and was not an overwhelming presence at all, but at the same time he was able to corral my crazy big family into beautiful family photos. JD was awesome to work with and the photos turned out so beautiful! He had great communication and follow-up before,after and during the wedding. JD made himself available for phone calls and emails that worked with our schedule and was eager to get to know us as a couple and not just as a client.JD was completely willing to travel and was so easy going throughout the whole process. My wedding was in Boston, and even though JD is based in Austin he had no problems with traveling to us. He uses a easy payment system so you dont have to worry about writing checks or dealing with invoices, etc.His personable and engaging personality made it so easy to take pictures on our incredibly tight schedule! He made all my bridesmaids feel so comfortable and beautiful. It was such a huge help to have his confidence and creative ideas the day of the wedding.JD does incredible work! He captured so many beautiful moments that we were so grateful to have. He was quick about getting the photos back to us (2 weeks!) and gave us a fun preview of the photos that we were able to see on our honeymoon.All in all, I would recommend JD to any bride! He was a pleasure to work with and we couldnt be more happy with the photos he took!
Best decision ever! JD is everything you would want in a wedding photographer and more. His style is impeccable and unmatched. Not only do we have the most beautiful shots from our wedding, but he was also amazing to work with. JD showed up early to scope out the venue, ran around all day to make sure we were sticking to our timeline and stayed later than was required of him. He goes above and beyond! He really makes you feel comfortable taking wedding pictures and is easy to be around. His work is just out of this world beautiful :).

JD is incredible at what he does! Our November wedding was the third time I had worked with JD and he just keeps getting better. He shot some family portraits for us in 2013, our engagement photos in Spring 2015. JD is great to work with; I trust that he does everything in his control to get the best shots of important moments, which is why we continue to use him and recommend him to our friends. JD is also very kind and funny! He does a great job managing people and making tough/awkward calls... as in, I wanted a photo of my divorced/combined family but knew it would be an uncomfortable request for me to make of them. JD stepped in right away and handled everything without batting an eye - thanks again, JD! Also, he has a great turn around time. I was very impressed by how quickly he finished our family portraits and engagement photos! And obviously the results are incredible. JD doesnt use a ton of filters/photoshop to edit his photos. He does a fantastic job creating perfect settings and working with the natural lighting and backdrops wherever he is taking photos. He makes it look so effortless when he is shooting, but the outcome is amazing! We love JD and are lucky to be able to call him a friend. We recommend him to anyone who is looking for invaluable, beautiful photos of special moments!
My husband and I loved our experience working with JD! He met with us a few months out to hear what we we were hoping for and what we envisioned for our wedding photographs, and we left that meeting knowing we had made the right choice! We were immediately drawn to his style and fell in love with the unique shots and stunning portraits he captures. I was so pleased the day of the wedding because he was so great to have around- he was kind, gentle and peaceful - and I didnt have to worry about a single thing as he made sure we were where we needed to be on time. JD did such an amazing job with our engagements, bridals and wedding photos! It is hard to find someone that makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera and captures such raw and beautiful photos. On the wedding day JD was so organized, I barely even noticed he was there. I cant complement him enough on his professionalism, easy going personality and most importantly his talent.
We Love Love Love JD! We found John David Weddings through either our venue, wedding coordinator, or both and we couldnt be more happy with the whole experience! A crazy storm was fast approaching Austin as we were scheduled to do our engagement photos and JD was so flexible and quick thinking to find a new location to keep us dry. Even though it wasnt our ideal backdrop for those photos, they turned out amazing! JD was equally as awesome the day of our wedding and we are so so so pleased with how all the photos turned out. We booked JD as our photographer for our wedding in February of 2016. Throughout the booking process, he was so accommodating and willing to work with us to make everything happen. We had our engagement shoot with him this past weekend and received the photos back so quickly! We LOVE every photo. JD makes you feel comfortable and creates such a beautiful story with your photos. He is as great of a person as he is a photographer. We are so excited for our wedding day and have 100% confidence in the images we will receive. UPDATE: I am still so in love with the photos from our wedding in 2016 & it is the gift that keeps on giving - after losing my grandmother recently, it is so precious to me that we have such lovely and high quality photos from the wedding (both posed and candid) to look back on. Its hard to put a price on memories, but very few services/purchases in my life have been worth the investment as much as JDs beautiful work. PRICELESS.JD captured so many wonderful moments from our wedding this August, which we will cherish FOREVER! As my husband and I were going through the photos, we were astonished how he got some of those shots! He was very unobtrusive and we had not noticed him running around but somehow he got them all!I feel that the whole essence of the day was captured beautifully, from the details, to the dancing, to the special hugs and kisses. Really wouldnt change a thing! JD is the real deal. Professional, talented, flexible, and a genuinely great guy.

If youre looking for an amazingly talented photographer who will do whatever he can on your special day to make sure the bride and groom are happy and comfortable, LOOK NO FURTHER! Honestly, JD was at the top of our photographer budget, but after having him take our engagements and having him there on our wedding day, I would have paid even more. He was so professional and efficient the whole time. Our wedding coordinator didnt end up being as helpful as we wished, but JD really made it all okay! He answered all of our questions, even though most of them had nothing to do with the photography lol, and we both felt that his top priority was making sure we were comfortable and happy! And on top of all that, the pictures were even more beautiful than we imagined. We feel very lucky to have came across him, so if youve made it to this page, definitely reach out to him :)
JD is absolutely amazing. I had contacted him a few months ago and asked him to help me capture the moment I proposed to my girlfriend. He was very patient with me, as I had many requests and questions, and made both me and my now fiancé feel so comfortable throughout the planning and the shoot itself. He edited our photos and got them to us way ahead of when he said he’d have them done and they look amazing. I can’t recommend him enough for your big day!! I know we’re keeping him in mind when it comes time to book a wedding photographer.
I wish I could give JD more than 5 stars. He is an amazing photographer that has a spectacular talent to capture a wedding day. I am a semi-professional photographer so obviously, the photographer was the most important part of our day. I am so so glad that I chose JD as that photographer. He was fun, energetic, easy to work with and excited to be there. My favorite part was when he was rushing me and frolicking in a field to get the last remaining light from the day which turned out to be some of my favorite pictures from the day. Youre amazing, JD. As a photographer and a person and I cant thank you enough!!
Alright, other than being super talented, JD is probably one of the nicest people Ive worked with! He listens (like genuinely listens) to the client and is super accommodating. He and his intern, Serene, were there for the wedding and both made us feel comfortable. AND... he is so experienced, that he knows exactly what to do and QUICKLY! Our main request was to be able to enjoy cocktail hour and actually ENJOY and BE PRESENT at our wedding. He made this happen for us through his timeline and direction. We were there for half of happy hour and all of the reception. We were super nervous that what everyone warned us about would be true... it all happens so fast and youll be taking photos that you wont be there for all the other stuff. Well, not with JD! We were there for everything and didnt feel like we were always being taken away for photos, and yet he captured every moment! Plus, his style is unique. Its not what every other wedding photographer is doing. Cant go wrong with JD. He did so well, my parents want to use him for their vow renewal!
JD took epic photos of our wedding. We went for his top wedding package and are so grateful we did because we wanted it all! Photos are the only thing you have after the wedding is over, so we went all in. He and his additional shooter for the day were amazing. They were on top of every detail and I didnt even have to provide a shot list. If you want a photographer that is laid back, talented and low maintenance, he is the photographer for you. Our whole wedding party enjoyed his calm presence and ability to hype them up. You know a photographer is talented when your wedding is running an hour ahead of schedule. He is confident and skilled, and it shows in our photos. We could not have hired a better photographer! He was everywhere and then some! I never had to ask where he was or ask if he got a shot. He was always there.
One of the biggest things about John David that had us mesmerized from the start is his ability to capture the unique atmosphere of each wedding--the nerves, the thrill, the personalities, and the energy. Look through his photos, you will see how uniquely each wedding is portrayed in his images. Once we saw his photos we knew we had to have him as our photographer! But then when we actually got to work with him, his friendliness and compassion amazed us. We loved working with him! From his personality, to how comfortable he makes you and your guests feel, to the ability to direct all the bridesmaids/groomsmen/hard-of-hearing-family-members while organizing perfect shots, to the quiet, touching moments he captures, it is evident John David has mastered the art of wedding photography! When we got our wedding photos we absolutely melted. We cried, we laughed, we gasped. We just couldnt believe what beautiful photos hed captured. I am amazed at the thoughtfulness with which he approaches his work. It is clear how much of himself he invests into his art. The most sage wedding planning advice passed on to us from married friends was to make sure we picked an amazing photographer--and boy are we forever grateful we listened to that advice. My husband and I feel so blessed to have met such an amazing photographer for our wedding in January. After talking to many photographers and searching online I realized there was something so unique about JDs photography that we felt compelled to at least try him out for our engagement photos! My husband and I are very non photogentic so we were super excited and nervous for the photoshoot!! JD made us feel absolutely relaxed, he was a pleasure to be around and an easy going pro...we had to have him at our wedding.During the planning process JD was extremely dependable and always had an answer. At the wedding, JD and his assistant were so much fun and blended in so well. They were very helpful to create ease throughout the day and they were on time. I do not know how JD got the shots that he did but we were speechless when the photos came back quickly after our honeymoon in such a sweet little package...even better, JD provided a sneak preview the day after the wedding!! That was such a nice piece to have during the honeymoon because as we all know, the big day goes by so fast! The photos were stunning and priceless. I would highly recommend JD for any photoshoot. I hope to use him again soon! :)
My wife Kylie and I were married over two years ago at the Winfield Inn. We were so pleased with John David that I promised myself I would write a great review for him right away. And then life happened. But every time Kylie and I revisit our photos we are reminded of all the ways that John David helped to make our wedding so special. If you are considering booking John David, let me just say that you would be wise to do so. His work is impeccable--but you already know that from looking at his portfolio. What you might not see however is how kind and wonderful he is. He is like an old friend, even though you just met him. He is a calming presence when you need it most. He shepherds family and friends with a polite but determined manner, and before you know it, you are done with photos and enjoying yourself. Looking back, we couldnt be happier. Weve lost some loved ones recently, and these photos, well, they are priceless to us now. So go ahead, book him. You wont be sorry. He is a genuinely exceptional photographer and human being. Hiring JD was absolutely the best choice we made throughout the whole wedding planning process. We searched and searched online and just kept coming back to him because his photos were so natural and artistic. He was the only photographer we met with because the moment we met him, we knew hed be a joy to work with. Throughout the entire process of planning engagement and wedding photos, he was incredibly responsive, fast, and friendly. I gave him a very vague description of what we wanted for our engagement photos, and he managed to capture our vision absolutely perfectly. At our wedding, he was fantastic about taking initiative to find and photograph all the little details (my shoes, my jewelry, the bridesmaids dresses, etc.) and about gently and politely corralling us for group photos. He knew we wanted to minimize the number of posed photos, and did a wonderful job of capturing those we wanted in the quickest time possible. He also helped coach me through the possibility of rain ahead of time, and the rainy weather on the wedding day. Our wedding was just last Saturday and we already got a preview. The photos are absolutely stunning. I cant stop looking at them. Everyone who has seen them has said how beautiful they are and how perfectly they capture us as a couple. I honestly am happier with both our engagement and wedding photos than I ever imagined I could be!
JD is not only an awesome photographer but also an awesome person. Ive been to 3 or 4 weddings (one of them being my own) that he has worked and at each one he is so friendly while staying professional. He makes sure to work with you beforehand on scheduling and what specific shots you may want. He even went out of his way to drive me and my husband to the lakeside near our venue - unfortunately there was no access, but he had a plan B and took us to a beautiful field he had driven by on the way to the venue - evidence that he really cares to make your photos unique. We loved JD! He genuinely captured every moment of our entire day. I loved that he didnt have a set time frame, but instead wanted to be there for us and catch every moment he could. He had great ideas for photos, and then was very open to any poses I had in mind as well. I never felt one single moment of frustration, and instead he made the entire day feel more comfortable. My husband and I truly felt like one of our friends was there taking pictures with their own camera. He also communicated VERY well with us, and was always very prompt on getting in touch with us. Josh initially decided to hire JD because of 3 reasons;1. he is a friend of Josh2. his portfolio looks great3. he is sincere and Josh likes himWe hired him for 2 occasions which were the Tea Ceremony (a chinese tradition) the day before the wedding and the Wedding Day itself. I only got to meet JD on the Tea Ceremony day and I basically trusted Josh on his decision and it turned out to be such a pleasant surprise! JD was so great with people! He even speaks mandarin (even better than some of the family) and on a side note, Im not sure if you know this JD, but Joshs grandfather was very impressed with you.At the end of the day, we were delighted with the decision that we made on using JD because of even more reasons;1. Time. He was punctual on both days and was great in helping to keep the family portraits session going on a timely manner. He was great in handling big family and was always making sure that we were on time. On the wedding day, Josh and I were really grateful for JD to keep track on the time for us as we did first look and bridal party photos before the ceremony. He surely helped a bunch in making sure the ceremony started on time. We also got our wedding photos 2 weeks after and they were absolutely stunning. I needed that.. I have to reiterate what another reviewer wrote - you will not find another photographer that will work harder for you. He was friendly and genuine in taking interests on Josh and I and we knew that he was also absolutely happy for the both of us. Our family and friends loved him and his co-photographer.3. Professional. JD is a professional photographer. He was great with detail, light, background, timing etc. Again, the photos turned out to be so wonderful and we received many compliments from family and friends. It was a delight to see the photos and remembering who was behind those shots. Be sure to check out on his work and trust that he will capture great memories of your wedding/other occasions!Bottom line is, JD, as much as we hired you to be our photographer, we hope you know that YOU did us a great favor! We know we will be seeing you around and count on us on telling people about you! You have so much life and passion in you and your trust in the Lord will bring you to places you never thought you would go (maybe New Zealand? ;) ). JD photographed our sunrise wedding ceremony in Burnet, TX, which is at least an hour drive away for him. He got there before any of our guests and even stayed to capture some moments from our family brunch afterwards. The photos he took are absolutely beautiful! He took some great family shots but also got some wonderful candid moments, especially with our twin 4 year old boys. Id absolutely recommend him to anyone, as he was a pleasure to work with.
J.D. was an absolute joy to work with, worked tirelessly from morning until our getaway, was faultlessly polite with all our guests and family, and managed to create amazing photos despite the (seriously) torrential downpours that happened on our wedding day! J.D.s pictures have a warmth and elegance to them that I love, and he absolutely captured the feeling of the day. Even better, J.D. and his assistant captured moments that I felt like didnt have time to appreciate in the blur of the day, but can now revisit in the photos.J.D. is a great communicator, very clear about his services/pricing, and is one of those rare people who posses both talent and professionalism in spades. Every single vendor on our wedding day ran late because of the terrible terrible weather, except J.D. On a day that is guaranteed to be hectic, you want someone as calm, hard-working and capable as J.D. on your team, capturing all the little moments. Somehow all my guests came out good looking - Im blaming J.D. :-)

We loved our experience with JD! He met us in South Carolina (even though he is based out of Texas) to shoot in a location neither of us were familiar with. JD took the time to explore the area and find the most beautiful settings to shoot (so far and above what he needed to do). He made the experience so much fun despite a few obstacles with security guards and parking ticketers :) (none of which we could control but he handled with complete ease!)He is an extremely talented photographer, who makes his clients personalities shine through his photography. JD is an INCREDIBLE photographer. Hes so easy to work with and super fast. He had our wedding photos back to us in under two weeks and they are absolutely stunning. He followed us like a shadow - he was always there but we never once noticed his presence.
JD did our wedding in the Texas Hill Country at the end of May 2015 (during the floods). He did a fantastic job and is the best wedding photographer in Austin, hands down. His capturing of light and color is incredible. Reminds me of Rembrandt! I am convinced JD will soon get full national recognition for his photography skills which means we will be able to boast JD Swiger did my wedding!He is about to get REALLY expensive.

My fiancé and I were very nervous going into this photoshoot, as we both arent the most photogenic people. After the shoot, we are both very thankful to have booked JD, as we had a great time, and everything felt so natural! We both would recommend JD for any photography session!
If I could give JD more stars, I would. I could not have been happier with him and his work. He was the first photographer I met at a bridal show and my first impression was that he was kind and considerate (unlike many other photographers I met who were extremely pushy, like a cars salesman). He wrote to me the very next day thanking me for stopping by and wanted to setup a consultation. I was impressed with how prompt he was and though I wasnt won to him yet, I agreed to chat with him. He was so accommodating, he was able to skype me for my convenience and gave a very thorough breakdown of everything he could do and answered all my questions. I chatted with 2 other photographers, but none could beat his personality or price. I even booked him for our engagement session, though originally I hadnt thought I would.Our engagement and wedding sessions were great. The engagement session was fun and laid back and he did a great job with us. My fiance was instantly impressed and was pumped to know he would be there at our wedding day. It was a huge peace of mind to have already worked with him at the engagement shoot to get an idea of how he worked. I highly recommend it.Wedding day was amazing - he got there early, as I had requested, and stayed till late. My wedding party loved him, as did our families. He was extremely cordial, professional, but fun and had a terrific attitude. He made me feel very at ease and I never had to wonder where he was, he always seemed to know exactly where he needed to be and where we needed to be for pictures.Despite some very windy weather and icy temperatures outside and lots of moving clouds - he worked fast and furious to make sure we got some stellar moments. He knew how to take control of the wedding party when we needed to move and get in position, but he never came across as bossy or aggressive. We had a blast and a half and I cant praise him enough.He is great at getting back to you, too. We emailed a LOT, but he always replied within a day or less. Even when we had some trouble billing him (mix up of addresses), he was very understanding and patient with us and never bullied us about it.I cant think of a single needs improvement comment on JD, other than I wish there were multiple of him so everyone could have the same experience as I had.You truly cannot go wrong with him, he will work with you and give you honest thoughts and ideas. Hes very gracious and kind and works super fast, but youll never feel rushed out of some very special moments he perfectly captures.Ok, Im done. JD was a delight from the get-go. I didnt foresee how overwhelming the decision about a wedding photographer could seem-- its an expensive and important decision to make. I reached out to a close friend who knows a great deal about capturing art for the purpose of preservation and celebration--JD was one of a few recommended.JD was personable, professional, and comfortable to interact with from the very beginning. I can’t say enough great things about JD. I have had the privilege of knowing him as a friend for about seven years and have seen him in at least four other weddings. JD is an incredible person and a truly inspired photographer. He is one of the most talented people I have ever met. He could not be more professional, helpful, or encouraging when he is shooting a wedding. He set us at ease, helped us move through the whole night, and had so many creative and breathtaking ideas and photos. He was palpably excited the whole time. It was obvious that he was happy to be there and was having a great time making beautiful photos for us. It was so much fun to watch him work because you can see the gears turning the whole time for how to create the most amazing and unique photos. He had the best ideas and executed them all perfectly. All of our guests talked for weeks about how amazing he was and how they could not wait to see the pictures. He got us a few pictures the next few days and the rest of the pictures shortly after. We did not have to wait long for our pictures. He was very professional and easy to work with on the price—no haggling like some other photographers I spoke with. 2022-01-24John David did my sons wedding in Austin Texas in July 2021. The pictures are exactly what they wanted. John David is such a kind person and interacts with the guests so well as he takes the photos.We were not aware of how important some of the family photos would become to us. A few weeks after the wedding, we lost a family member to Covid. John David went over and beyond to edit a crop a photo of him to be used for his obituary photo. He also edited several other family pictures with him in them for keepsakes. We will treasure these forever!If you want someone who really cares about their art and the clients, you should hire John David as your photographer. We are so glad that we did!

2022-04-15We are so glad we had JD shoot our wedding photos! He captured our day just perfectly. With extreme professionalism, JD was comforting and calming on the busy day-of that can sometimes seem a little hectic. He was able to capture the sweetest moments throughout the day before and during the ceremony, not only of me and my husband and our wedding party, but even amazing photos of our guests. We cherish these captured moments, as do our friends and family! JD went above and beyond and delivered photos very promptly. When we received our photos from him, we were blown away at the cohesiveness in his style that stayed consistent from start to end. We are so thankful for JDs talent and the photos we get to keep and look back on forever!

Throughout the night, family and friends continually complimented us on his work and professionalism. He often went above and beyond by helping facilitate little details leading up to the ceremony. 2022-04-26I have too many good things to say about my experience with JD that it won’t all fit in this review!Our wedding day was 3/11/22 and of course Texas decided to throw a weather curve ball at us. It was freezing cold with gusty winds…my first thought was worrying about how outdoor pictures would turn out. I should have known not to worry because JD ended up capturing beautiful moments within the crazy winds and it’s pictures we’ll cherish forever. I didn’t give many specific photo requests, but he captured everything and more than I could have imagined. I loved the reception photos and all of the ones he took of our guests.My wedding day went by so fast so it was such a blessing to have JD as our wedding photographer to give us these beautiful memories to look back on and remember the day!

His team was professional, efficient, and a joy to be around. He made sure that I didn’t do anything besides enjoy my day. The photos are gorgeous and we are absolutely in love with them. 2021-11-05From start to finish working with JD was an absolute pleasure. We did both our engagement and wedding photos with JD. I cant remember if he had been to our engagement shoot location previously, but he had clearly done his research - he knew which shots he wanted, and we breezed through the session. This is saying a lot because were definitely a camera-shy couple, and I think having worked with him previously made the big day go even more smoothly. My husband and I joke that we could have skipped hiring our day-of coordinator because it was JD who kept us on schedule! He and his assistant worked seamlessly together, and I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have a photographer like that - one who can capture you at ease because you know youre in good hands. But what did the photos look like?! Let me tell you... Ive never seen work like JDs. I cant help but compare our photos to others Ive seen, but theres really no comparison. From staging the perfect photo to the final edited work, JD doesnt brush off the details. Getting married can take a lot of time, organization, and - frankly - money... dont put in all of that effort and skimp on the photos. The pictures memorialize your vision; they tell your story for years to come. Put that story in the hands of someone you can trust! You wont regret it.

He makes people feel at ease, is so genuine and kind, is helpful on the day of logistics, and his photos are stunning from quality to artistry! He has done 4 of my family’s wedding photos including my own, and each have come out whimsically capturing the unique feel of the day from big moments to the small details. I will treasure these wedding photos forever and am so glad we had him there on our big day!

2021-09-22Working with John David was an absolute dream. My husband and I got married in Austin and JD was the only person we even considered. I can not recommend him and his team high enough. The entire process, from initial conversations to post-wedding touch-bases, was seamless. We wanted our wedding day to be a little funky - complete with disco balls, a costume themed wedding, full moon vibes and witchy/goth jewel tones... JD was able to capture the essence of the day to perfection. We got married in September, my dress weighed a ton, I am NOT one who loves taking or getting photographed... when it was time for our portraits, I was sweating galore and getting a bit antsy, JD was an ANGEL - he talked me through the whole process and had me from fuming to smiling in a matter of minutes. The photos were so beautiful that they were picked up by The Knot magazine and featured in one of their print publications. My biggest and only regret is that we havent hung out with JD since the wedding. Otherwise, look no further. JD is your man.

2021-07-08I feel like words cant fully capture how much I enjoy JD both as the kind and warm human that he is and as the amazing photographer he is. JD captured our engagement and wedding photos more perfect than I could have ever imagined. He had photographed my brother in laws wedding a few years prior as well and when considering a photographer the family immediately recommended seeing if JD was available for our wedding!It has been a little over a year and a half since our wedding and I regularly scroll through our photos and they still bring the biggest smile to my face. He captured all of the special moments and truly his attention to detail is amazing. He also made it feel much more comfortable and natural throughout the whole process, which was so helpful for me because I am quite shy and dont love being the center of attention. Genuinely cannot recommend JD more, I have already told my husband that for other major life events I would want to use him again! :)

2021-07-08JD was an absolute delight to work with! He was beyond willing to accommodate (was even willing to drive to Dallas) and had great communication before and after my wedding. Several members of my family and wedding party noted how comfortable JD made them feel while taking lots of pictures, which only reassured the fact that I had made the best decision choosing him. His attention to detail and quality of work is unbeatable and I still find myself scrolling through my wedding pictures in awe of the special day. It is apparent that JD aims to please, and he goes beyond that! I cannot recommend him enough and if I could give him more than five stars I would! ♥️
