Joses Restaurant in other cities:
This was our first time to come here to eat. We came at 430. No one was in the restaurant at the time. We waited a bit for someone to wait on us. It took about 30 minutes to get our order. The food was edible. I am not giving them a 5 because they were able to wait on us and they did not. Not a fan of their guacamole, it was runny. The refried beans are very good. The chips and salsa was good. I had the chalupas and it was wet on the bottom and too much lettuce. I am not impressed. The chicken enchiladas had plenty of chicken inside but was a little dry. My husband had beef fajita nachos, it was wet on the bottom and queso was poured over them. He said the fajita meat had no flavor. The waitress only came by twice, did not offer more to drink. We had to ask for more chips. Will not come back.
Nice atmosphere and clean. The waitstaff is super friendly and remember their customers. They have good food, Ive tried everything there. Their chimichangas are super crispy, never soggy. Their hot sauce is soooo good, ask for their green sauce, its hotter but delicious as well. They have good margaritas too, lots of flavors! This is the most homey, comfortable restaurant I go to. Good dining alone or with a really large group. They have highchairs for the little ones too. If you life Mexican food, give them a try, you wont regret it!
Read some comments about this being authentic. It is not! Its basic tex-mex. I went there for the first time and would say that its so-so. The atmosphere is dated and no real indication you are inside a Mexican restaurant. The staff was really nice, but dont think this will be on my rotation.
The BEST Mexican food in BCS! Everything from the Chips & Queso, Salsa, Nachos, Enchiladas, Fajitas, Tortilla Soup, ALL OF THE ABOVE. I always recommend this to those who are visiting from out of town or anyone who wants a good, authentic meal! Its one of our most visited restaurants in our family and always will be. The staff are always so nice and friendly. Highly recommend.
I enjoy their food so much that I will continue to eat there BUT my main complaint is when I call in my order I can NEVER get through. The phone will ring and ring so I hang up and try again it take forever for them to answer. It’s not a 1 time thing it’s every time I call. Where are you people?
There has never been a time when this place has disappointed me. They were very busy and our party had to wait for seating. But when we got a table, the service was great and the taste and quality of the food was excellent! Good job Joses. I will be coming back for more!
This is one of my favorite places to eat Mexican food. In truth, I use them as a benchmark to judge other resteraunts. I really love their queso flameado, and they’re hot sauce is some of my favorite in the world. They have a wonderful selection of desserts as well, and I highly recommend the Tres leches.
Pretty much the worst, flavorless food Ive had in years. The chicken taco had zero seasoning and tasted as if they opened a can of shredded chicken, warmed it up in the microwave to remove any and all liquid that maybe wouldve made the chicken palatable and the wrapped it in the soggiest hard taco shell Ive ever had. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
The service was friendly and polite. We werent over bothered and enjoyed our meal. It was quiet and cozy. A little more like someones home than a restaurant. The price point is very fair. The loss of one star was ONLY because the chicken in my enchilada was just plain cooked chicken. I dont even think it had salt and pepper on it. Altogether it was satisfying though. Id go back.
The food was delicious and the portion size was actually a good size, not way too much food like a lot of places. The only downside is where we were seated the staff seemed like they watched us through the entire meal. I dont know about most people but I dont like being watched while I eat. That being said I will definitely return, I just may wait until later when the restaurant is busier.
Great service and food. I didnt feel that I wanted for anything. The staff have someone (not your waiter or waitress) watching the room and filling drinks as well as any other needs you may have. The chip bowl stayed full as well as our drinks. Hands down will come again.
HORRIBLE experience. My husband and I went for lunch there after a long time, probably a year, keeping in mind previous experiences about cordiality and good quality. What a difference! The hostess was a big latina woman who obviously was offended after I spoke to her in Spanish. Later on, she proceeded to correct my English while speaking in front of my husband who doesnt speak Spanish. When we proceeded to check out, my husband was talking to her and her attitude was one with absolute disregard. Very rude.
This was my first time here and the host short girl with long black hair also had very long nasty nails was on her phone the whole time I was at the front and someone called she answered instead of helping me young people can’t ever stay away from their phones they do anything and everything but their job food service was ok waiter was pleasant
I ordered online at Jose’s for the first time, while utilizing DoorDash. The beef/shrimp fajitas where extremely dry, and the two orders of beef gorditas, had NO BEEF just cheese. I will NEVER order from here again, and do not recommend Jose’s Restaurant to anyone. It was a complete disappointment, don’t waste your money. Anyone could do a better cooking at home.
Probably the best Mexican food Ive found in the states. Miss seeing Jose himself, but since his death, the food has maintained its quality. I love the artwork, especially the man praying over bread. Chips and salsa are good here. Green enchiladas are divine, but dont let that stop you from getting the Nortenas enchiladas nor trying the tacos supreme.
Joses has been in business for something like 40 plus years and I and my family have been eating there all of my life! They have hands down the best enchiladas (especially the cheese), the best queso, and the best refried beans in town. The Spinach and Mushroom and beef enchiladas are also great, as are the tacos and flautas! Great place to take family or friends, or to do a nice affordable business lunch.
They have a really good food selection. This is pretty Vegetarian friendly. I was able to spot quite a few variety of options for a vegeterian, and they can substitute things too.I ended up ordering the mushroom enchiladas dinner plate. They serve it with rice and beans.Really soft enchiladas. Cheese sauce wasnt too thick. Overall you wont feel miserable and guilty after eating. Definitely recommend
Horrible service at least 7 people standing around and it took them forever to take our initial drink order. The avocado salad is really just mashed gaucomole with nothing in and queso was plain to. They had there kids at the job sprawled out on the floor. And was just chatting it up with one another. Definitely not professional what so ever. Very disappointed in the service Quality and overpriced food. Wish i had not wasted my moneu here.
We went has a church group. The servers and staff were very rude. They got an order wrong and would not replace with the correct order. I had order guacualme as an appetizer and came out with our meal. There were no refills for our drinks and our server did not come to our table. We asked a server a question and she could not understand english. We just had a question about the billand the pricing and the server was very rude. I have a medical condition and was not able to wear my mask around the restuarant. My child did not have her mask on and the server did not ask her to put hers on. Also, their were other patrons without their mask on. I wanted to buy gum and pralines and was refused service. All my daughter wanted was gum. But because I was not able to put my mask on I was refused service. But yet the server did not ask my child to put her mask on. I know in the law that if you have a medical condition that retail or restuarant can not force you to wear a mask or refuse service. Now granted we are out with church members that has over 1500 people. This will be my first and last time going here. The staff was very rude and inconsiderate. And now the church members will not be going their either and choose another restaurant because of the bad experience. How can you deny a child anything? What type of service are we setting. In other restuarant youcan walk around without your mask. I will be choosing these restuartants.
Food wasnt authentic at all, they literally served me melted Velveeta and tried to pass it off as queso! The servers dont come to check on you like you would expect. The drinks were really good but they are very small for the $8 price. Overall I would rather go to Chuys or Casa Rodriquez.
Had lunch there today. I ordered José Special. When it arrived at the table the cheese was cold and gummy and my taco so soggy that I had to eat it with a fork. I was with a group, but there is no reason to serve a taco, chalupa, cheese tostado cold and gummy. I also noted that the restaurant was not that busy. We have eaten at Joses for years...never disappointed before.
No sweet tea? Salsa had no onion, cilantro, ect. My side salad was lettuce 3thin slices of avocado 3thin slices of tomato, and my side order of jalapeños came from a can. I was anticipating authentic Mexican food. What I got was less than Taco Bell. The staff was courteous but I was extremely dissatisfied with the food. Best Mexican I’ve ever had is El Portro in Orlando Florida. Perhaps Jose should take a trip there and see how it’s done
If you like bland Tex-mex this is the place for you! I have eaten here numerous times over the years because my grandmother cant eat spicy food, but loves Mexican food. She loves Joses - I hate it. Food is bland, boring & nada great. The service usually sucks & the whole ambiance of the places is nada great. Sooooooo many better places to eat in BCS unless of course you like bland tex-mex.
Contrary to the other reviews, i have to disagree with all of the great comments made about the food at Joses. It was our first and last visit to this restaurant. The prices are not equal to the taste of the food. We dont have a problem paying for good food, but we couldve gotten better taste and value at Taco Bell. The salsa that comes with the chips tasted like pace picante from the jar, and the carne guisada gravy was not the type that normally comes with this dish. Also disappointing was the rice which was bland and lacked taste. As for the tortillas, they are store bought and not homemade. Perhaps we were expecting fine food as advertised and unfortuantely we were very disappointed. Not a place we would recommend
Really good tex-mex at Joses with reasonable prices. Established restaurant in a cantina setting which we have enjoyed a couple of different times while visiting the College Station/Bryan area. Locals recommended Joses and were glad they did. Portions and quality are excellent and service as well. Youre not paying for non-essential frills here and thats a good thing.
Ill start off by saying that their cheese enchiladas are good, but thats about it. My husband and I both agree this is our first and last time eating here. We tried the enchiladas as take out via a friend, and thought the full menu would be worth a trip. It wasnt. The restaurant itself is rather dumpy. A large bowl of queso costs as much as an entree, and I use the term queso rather loosely. It is thin and watery, a processed cheese liquid, devoid of peppers or onions of any kind! He stuck to the enchiladas after our initial shock at their version of queso, I ordered the chile relleno. The roast beef stuffed inside was bland. It wasnt dry, but it was not flavorful as you would expect Mexican food to be. The pepper itself was soggy. It was covered in more cheese water. The menu cites family recipes, but these are just so bland and sub par. How is this food anyones legacy? As one reviewer stated, they could get better food at Taco Bell, and I completely agree with that statement. The other 4 and 5 star reviews were either given by members of the staff, or folks with no sense of taste, I would assume. The last time I paid $8 for a bowl of queso, it AT LEAST had peppers and onions in it. I cant even believe the lack of quality for those prices. Taco Bell, Taco Cabana, Casa Ole are all 10x better than this place. And thats not even me naming off my favorite Mexican food places.
Anytime Im in BCS I make sure to stop into Joses. The salsa is delicious, chips are always fresh, food is awesome and modestly priced too. Only thing I dont like is their attempt to keep out firearms. Never had the right signage so I never worry. Anyway, dont go looking for super expensive imitators, go to Joses and enjoy their generous portions, delicious food and fast service.

2022-05-03Food is soggy and is supposed to be fried. Got my food Togo and if I didnt check the order they would of forgotten items. Also was cheated on the amount of guac that comes with the chimichanga When you order it in the restaurant it comes smothered and I barely got enough for three bites. I spent 20 dollars just to be frustrated!
