I went to the rooftop pool to celebrate a friends birthday and it was fantastic. It was easy to book a cabana, which is the same price as a day passes for a group of 6. Our server Lauren was very charming and had great recommendations - you have to try the coconut mojito! Drinks came out quickly and were delicious.
Beware of the construction next door!! They placed my room RIGHT next to the construction. The first 24 hours I navigated my hotel room with my noise cancelling headphones because the noise was unbearable. After being unable to tough it out anymore I requested a room change, that was like pulling teeth. Im aware it is not their construction, but as the hotel wasnt full, Im unsure why I was placed in this room. Two treadmills were broken, and the heated pool was lukewarm. The location of the hotel is where the three stars come from. Just request to NOT be by the construction.
Hotel is modern and really nice interior. Room was nice with big windows and nice tub shower combo. Spa and bar/restaurant and room service was great. As was all the staff. Was a great business trip for SXSW.I had an issue with a credit card hold that took awhile to resolve. But then Scott the general manager got in touch with me and was absolutely fantastic. He and his team helped me all they could to get it fixed and Scott was very apologetic and understanding. The staff from top to bottom here are amazing and I’ll definitely return when I’m back in Austin.
I was driving through Austin when my AC in my truck had broken down.I stayed at the JW Marriott for about a week. The staff are so nice and helpful. The rooms are beautiful and everything in Austin was a vecation for me.I had purchased a motorcycle in Austin also. The loading dock staff even helped me load in my truck.Parking is great, I had room for my truck on first level .
The stay was very nice. Hotel was Clean and staff inside were very accommodating.Only downside was the valet service manager was rude. He was yelling at his workers meanwhile he was just talking with a random guy on the street. Unprofessional.Otherwise great stay and will be back .
My friends and I just spent the weekend at this hotel. The lobby is beautiful, room was nice and clean and we had a gorgeous view of the city. The pool and pool bar was nice as well. Great location to other restaurants and bars within walking distance and about an 8 minute walk from the lake to go paddle boarding, boating, etc. Taking 1 star off because we spent a lot of time at the pool and food choices are limited there. Also, if you want to sit by the pool there really isnt any shade. Away from the pool they do have seating areas with shade though. Get the Pina colada, so good!
We came just to have drinks on the rooftop, so we did not stay in a room. We had a group of about 12 people.Good drinks, OK food, it was kind of funny the waitress gave one of our group members a hard time because he was looking for some sort of bar fried food claiming that they had a real chef and that they did not serve bar food. We ordered several dishes most of the food was burnt. We would come again for the drinks and the views, maybe pick up some bar food before and after, lol.
Poor room service. Looks like they don’t have anyone available in the night to deliver water bottles and other stuff to the room. The room was also not cleaned at the standards they claim - there were several food particles on the carpet. I don’t expect such experience at a big hotel like this, it could be a one off experience but not a pleasant one.
Im a member of Marriott, I stayed in quite a few and this is by far the worst one. There was three of us and we got a double bed room. There was one outlet by the beds, there was no real lights in the bathroom, they are very dim and no full length mirror besides in a closet. We arrived on weds and had to work. We were suppose to have the high speed internet but would repeatedly get kicked off to no internet which was a huge issue. The rooms themselves were clean though. The staff was friendly checking in and most staff by the pool was friendly. But one girl was not nice. I just purchased a drink and a water. I walked ten feet to take a picture of some new friends and was away for two mins. Both my new drink and water were gone. All my stuff was there on my chair. Another instance I asked if I could get the chicken nachos without chicken since Im a vegetarian. The girl said there was no substitutions and couldnt accommodate that request. But I could get the salad with no chicken. It didnt make sense. Next time I will not stay here.
We had a terrible time at this hotel. They gave us a room on the 5th floor that was next to all kinds of craziness and noise. When we used the hot water in the room it sounded like a motorcycle was in the wall and made the entire room shake. We told the front desk about it but they didn’t do anything. Last night we had a family screaming, yelling, and fighting all night next to us, we called the front desk who said they would send a security team but unfortunately no one showed up. We were here for business and will not be coming back. Overpriced, overcrowded, and terrible.
JW, JW!! SIR ITS BEEN 2 YEARS AND THIS IS THE WAY YOUR OUTDOOR GUYS CATER TO US!?!The first warning sign was open seating verses other bars with standing anxious and hyped bartenders.Second warning, NOT HAVING PATRON AT BAR!!!Thirdly to order food and it comes out COLD!!Lastly, if being a member depended on the service experienced and saw during this first time mine would have been canceled with a COLD shoulder on the spot!!!Bonvoy JW and may your CLUCKS shed...
We booked this hotel at the last minute. We were greeted with smiles and great service from the time we opened our car doors. The property was very well maintained and nicely appointed. They offer a variety of local foods to be delivered which was a nice plus. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean. We will definitely stay here again.
Whats not to like about this hotel? Great location and it has all the amenities a guest can imagine - gym, spa, pool, restaurants, Starbucks and more. A very dreamy mattress. We were here for a wedding reception and the ballroom was excellent. There is one thing though - the high daily parking rate was a surprise!
This hotel is beautiful. Staff was wonderful and helpful. The Corner is a fantastic go too place. Bar is fun and the drinks were exceptional. The pool deck is amazing. We enjoyed the scenic atmosphere while relaxing. I would recommend this hotel. We had a great experience.
Avoid this hotel till the building next door is built. Workers work throughout the night, drilling and truck noises ALL NIGHT and you get NO sleep! Staff very friendly, beds are nice .. but the noise of the builders literally outside my window makes this an unbearable hotel till it’s completed next door.
Let me first start off by saying I am a Lifetime Titanium Elite Member and this is the second time I have stayed at this property. The hotel is very nice and situated in a perfect location. I enjoy the rooftop pool and bar pretty much any time of the day or evening. The lounge is nice and comfortable and the rooms are large and clean. The Starbucks in the hotel is very convenient and the Corner Restaurant is enjoyable. The service was a bit lackluster this time. As a Titanium member I elected for the $10 spending credit to be used at the property. This credit was never added to my account. I also requested a refrigerator and it was never delivered to our room. There was an available refrigerator in the first room we were given but we asked to be moved for a better view. When we checked out of the hotel it was busy so I left the key with concierge and stated I would just check my email for the invoice/room bill. I never received it so I called the next day and it was sent. I looked over the bill while I was on the phone with someone at the property and that is when I realized the $10 credit was not issued. The front desk person stated they would correct it and resend but it was never sent. To date, I still have not received a corrected bill. It would be nice if someone would reach out to me and confirm my corrected charge for this stay.
Essentially, what one would expect from a JW Marriott: professional and polite service, good size, well-decorated rooms, and everything just working well. There are several restaurants in the hotel and the executive lounge had a good breakfast. The gym was particularly well-equipped.
We stayed at the jw Marriott 2 times in the last 2 months. Both times we had a large group staying at the property for a family wedding and we had great service both times. From Check in to check out we had no issues which is amazing as we had a big group. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The lobby bar is awesome. We will definitely be back
This was my first time visiting Austin and it didnt disappoint. We chose the JW as one of our friends had Marriott points to use. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Whitney the manager or Concierge was the most helpful. He was so great a providing us with recommendations on restaurants and places to go. I would say that he went above and beyond to insure that our visit was wonderful. Thank you.
The hotel is beautiful and clean. The reason for 4 stars, the valet at night when we were checking in was rude, and most definitely needs to be trained. Typically when we check in, we are greeted and asked if we are checking in. This time, he asked us what he was supposed to do with the keys. So why am I taking these? You parking here and going out, you eating inside or what? It was 11 pm and we were exhausted from travel. The last thing you expect to be greeted with at a Marriott property is rudeness, especially when you are an elite guest.
My family booked JW Marriot for my daughters birthday. Prior to our arrival I contacted the hotel and completed an amenity form requesting balloons, champagne and treats to be delivered to our room upon arrival. When we checked in, the front desk staff was not friendly, not helpful and did not provide any details on the hotels features. When we arrived in our room, none of the items requested were in our room. I called the front desk. I was assured they would make the situation right and provide all the items requested. The items never arrived as promised. I called the front desk 4 times, spoke to several people who all assured me the items would be delivered to our room. I finally gave up and decided I had to find another way to make my daughters birthday special. When our stay was over and I went to check out, our final invoice included charges for the amenities we never received. After explaining the situation to the staff, the charges were removed. The entire experience was horrible, the staff were not helpful and did not follow through on any of their verbal assurances. All and all a very poor experience.
Everyone was so helpful. From the valet to the front desk and the concierge lounge. It was a very busy weekend for the hotel due to the F1 race. But the staff was still very friendly and helpful. Hats off to the manager! Jayden at check in and Gabby in the concierge lounge are a couple of the staff who come to mind as helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent as well.
This is our first time visiting Austin. The hotel location is conveniently located, and within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and point of interests. We didnt need to use our car the entire stay. The front desk staff was very courteous, and friendly. Due to our elite status, we got upgraded to room at high level floor and had access to Executive Lounge for free breakfast, evening hors doeuvre, all day coffee, juice and water. Will stay at this hotel again when we visit Austin in the future.
Excellent location, relaxing, clean room and perfect for a family getaway hotel. Friendly helpful staff and a cool place with all the amenities. The executive lounge is well stocked and looked after by attentive staff. The check in/out service were quick. I would certainly stay there again.
Austin is a great city for a couples trip and after staying there, I would never stay anywhere besides the JW Marriott. Simply first class all the way. Beautiful and impeccably well maintained. The staff are attentive and efficient. The room was clean and spacious. I look forward to staying there again.
FIX YOUR PHONE TREE. I have booked rooms for a conference in March and reservations / revisions to reservations have been an unnecessary time consuming process because their phone tree will not recognize the number selection. I have had to go through sales just to get connected with someone who could help me because I could not get through the main number no matter what I tried. But, everytime I have to reach out I go in circles just trying to get a simple revision to the reservation. I have told multiple people about this and yet months later it is not fixed. It wont even let me change the reservation online.
We stayed here for a couples trip and we didn’t have any complaints. Clean rooms, great location. Plenty of restaurants nearby, and a short 5 min walk to 6th street. We had breakfast at the corner restaurant located inside the hotel and it was really good. I will say if anyone is concerned about bathroom privacy, (especially with sharing a room with another couple) the bathroom door is a sliding door that does not lock, and is somewhat see-through.
Our maid service was not the best experience. On our last day there, the maid was ready to clean our room as we were getting ready to step outside but we were running late. She did not remove the used wine glass nor did she seem happy that we asked her to come in while we were trying to leave. The toiletry items were left askew on the bathroom counter and she did not refill our water bottles. The hotel itself was really nice but some of the staff members could really use a course on customer service. Overall, it was a great hotel in a very central location. If the staff had serviced us at the level of the brand, I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
Right smack dab in the middle of everything you will love about Austin, Texas. Every place around this hotel there was food and drink to be found. Lots of friendly staff willing and helpful to not only answer your questions but going above and beyond to give you a hand or point you in the right direction. The pool was very clean and was the very first thing that sparked my interest. It was kinda cold at first but very refreshing and warmed up around you as soon as you spent some time in it. For the men plenty of beautiful ladies and for the Ladies plenty of men to see. The sites around this hotel including the capital was not far away I, traveled there by foot with little or no trouble from any locals. The Hotel is very safe as well as the surroundings as you venture futher from the hotel still keep your eye on what is going on around you.
Location was good. Front desk staff were very nice. Parking was confusing. I was unable to contact the hotel directly before my stay as the phone number automatically redirects to a call center in another country, which is pretty ridiculous for a four star hotel. If Im going to pay big bucks to stay down town, itd be nice to at least have a little personal service.Despite placing the privacy do-not-disturb sign on my door, I was shocked to return to my room the first morning and see hotel staff coming out of my room. They moved all of my things and I felt my privacy was violated. Im not 5, I can take care of my own things.Pool was nice, but too crowded and needed a hot tub. Food and drinks at the hotel were ridiculously overpriced. The wifi was also spotty and difficult to access. Stop trying to nickel and dime people.
Staff is excellent and attentive. My 3 star rating is because 80 is NOT a heated pool. Generic toiletries and 1 ply dollar store toilet paper and tissues are not acceptable at a J W MarriottTowels and robes were soft and fluffy. Room was white glove clean. Beds were fabulous and comfyMy other complaint when I approached front desk staff (who were all masked-ty) I was told dont worry about not having mine pulled up (I apologized for that) I was told I didnt have to wear one at all. I realize Texas writes its own rules, but theres still a pandemic. Please stop advocating poor behavior.
My boyfriend took me to Austin for my birthday. Unfortunately halfway through the drive, he realized that he had left his wallet in Houston. He called the hotel to see what could be done. He was transferred to Rose at the customer service line over the phone to add me as a guest to the room. When we got to the hotel, we were greeted by Zack at the desk, and when we explained everything to him, he was exceptionally wonderful and provided the best customer service to us. Also, in the midst of all of our stress, I had forgotten to use my Marriot points. Luckily Zack mentioned it to us and I gave him my credit card and he took care of us!!! There were only two things I didn’t like about the hotel. The first one was the shower door - it didn’t seal to the shower stall so water was dripping out into the wood floor constantly but I loved the water pressure, it was amazing!!! Second, I was charged $3.04 by the hotel with no description. When we checked out, they couldn’t explain the charge but refunded me. I thought that was strange that my credit card was used by them without any explanation. Anyhow, my overall experience was wonderful!!! I would stay here again.
This hotel is pretty neat. It was so relaxing. Super clean and perfect for a family getaway. The sand pool is perfect for the kiddos. We had aRoom with a balcony, the view was beautiful. The reason for 4 stars is because the food is pretty expensive, specially breakfast and the lazy river was way too lazy, almost not moving, but they have many cool pools. Including the adults infinity pool with a beautiful view. This is a great place to take the family and relax. Also, dont miss going to the caverns.
Stayed here for 13 days with my husband. The Hotel gets very busy on the weekends, some days they run out of parking and guests at the hotel have issues getting a parking spot. They do offer to valet (free of charge) otherwise you can street park. There is no microwave or fridge in the room nor ice machine anywhere on the floor (need to call room service). A lot of people(besides guests) come to the pool (Edge) so it’s usually packed. Overall hotel is nice but again, not like the other JWs where we stayed before. Also, Room does not come with slippers and if you ask about them, they will be shocked like slippers are a secret. Anyways, breakfast is not complimentary. You have an option to purchase food from a restaurant at a hotel with fairly ok food. We ordered room service a few times and most of the time it was good. A few times in busy days the food came cold or missing items that we ordered. Location of the hotel is great. It’s close to everything including the homeless people camping two blocks away. Hotel is not bad overall but you can stay at the marriot down the street for a better price with a fridge and microwave in the room.
Place was very clean, however unable to enjoy the pool. Too many people just hanging out and drinking not able to swim or enjoy the pool. Beds were very uncomfortable and pillows way too soft. Staff was quick checking us in but as soon as we said self parking they didn’t give us detail on where the parking was. Would I stay here again, probably not. For the price I figured I would have had a memorable experience especially since I had so many people hype the hotel up.
As an Ambassador member I was sad my room upgrade wasnt able to be honored... but such is life. But putting me on the 34th floor of a 34 floor building definitely made up for it. The view was amazing. The customer service and staff top notch. The food DELICIOUS. The shower 🚿 🤤🤪 was a highlight for me lol. Youd have to experience it to understand. Enjoyed my stay.
Partner and I stayed here on a weekend getaway. All employees and staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Rooms were clean and well-maintained. Very nice rooftop pool area however it can get packed quickly since the pool itself is not very large. Overall would definitely stay again.
This is a beautiful Marriott property in the center of downtown and a short 5 min walk to 6th Street. The Lobby has high ceilings and is particularly well designed, even for a Marriott. There is a nice restaurant to your left and a comfortable lounge center right. The Bar is to the far right and is well staffed and the bartenders are excellent. The menu at the bar is very limited - not a place for more than a drink and run.Plenty of Elevators and they run on time and quickly.Roof Top Bar is on the 5th floor - holy cow it was SO PACKED - every day, literally standing room only. Uncomfortably over crowded (zero masks BTW) - the Bar is to the far right and unfortunately each night had one bartender and service was slow. The Rooms are spacious, bathrooms excellently designed and decorated - very good, not great water pressure. Linens and Bedding very good for a Marriott property. For someone with 500 Marriott Stays over the past 15 years - Id give this a 9 and recommend to anyone staying in Austin.
The staff was amazing. The location of the hotel was great. All the services were great from staff to valet and the Restaurants in the hotel. Easy access to several bars and shops near by walking distance. The pool was nice but it was crowded as expected during Memorial weekend. Overall we enjoyed our stay and had a great time.
This is a really good hotel. Customer service was great from the valet, front desk, bartenders, room service, literally every staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. Our room featured a modern bath with a very large stand-alone shower with maybe the best shower head I have ever had in a hotel. The bedding and mattress was soft and extremely comfortable. The pool and pool deck were crowded but not uncomfortable and there was plenty of space for all to enjoy the Texas sun. Nice location right in the heart of downtown Austin off of Congress Ave.
The hotel itself was nice and within walking distance to State capital, park, and shopping. The rooms were clean and spacious but one of our rooms have a funky smell. We were on the 18th floor and the halls had the same smell. We were looking forward to eating at the Corner restaurant and decided to order one night for pick up. The service was great but the food was very disappointing. We ordered the half roasted chicken. The chicken was unseasoned and very bland. The guacamole tasted like it was not fresh.
Beautiful hotel. Helpful and friendly staff. However the valet parking is a mess. They charge 54 a night after tax and then you tip them every time and is a mess. They will say 20 min but we would wait over half an hour. Also they even use the sidewalk. Is just a mess. Also the mouthwash left in my room was open and used. Besides that the room is nice. Starbucks on 5th floor. If you stay here make a reservation with live love paddle to do a kayak bat tour under the bridge. It was a nice experience.
Overall it was a great comfortable stay and would return. The hotel is in a great location and easy walking distance to 6th ST and SoCo. The service inside the hotel was great (check in, late checkout, market purchases, concierge, and check out). The room was clean and comfortable with GREAT water pressure and shower head. Some thoughts - The pool bar and service was good (although maybe understaffed). My TV had a fraction of the channels in one room compared to another room I had booked which was annoying. I wanted a walk in shower instead of the tub but ended up getting a tub. We waited for about 10 mins at the Corner for service but no one ever took our order so we left. AND the queso dip is pretty average at the bar. Those are minor issues and wouldnt affect me returning to the hotel. It was ultimately a very comfortable stay and would definitely return.
Michael at the front desk is VERY good at his job. Welcoming, responsive. Just the person you want getting guests excited about their stay. Also, TJ was our pool waitress. Probably the most outgoing, smart & helpful waitress we’ve ever had. She deserves a promotion. Great staff! Rooms were beautiful & so clean. Loved it all so much. Only complaint was that the spa wasn’t open in the morning for our group of 6 to get massages at 9/10am on a Wednesday. Wish they would’ve considered opening for a large group to fit our time frame.
Overall, misses the mark as a top level Marriott property. This is the second largest JW in the Marriott portfolio so my wife and I were excited for a weekend getaway here. A convention hotel for the masses so don’t stay here if you’re looking for a more personalized property. Management and staff have a churn and burn approach that is easily projected. 75% of guests are elite members so you’ll just be one of the many. Titanium Elite member and never once did I feel as though the property recognized me as one. Not something that I expect but something that is certainly appreciated and why my loyalty is with Marriott. There are absolutely no benefits offered at this property.. no breakfast voucher, no welcome points, gifts, etc. Asked and was informed that the hotel used to offer Starbucks vouchers but don’t anymore because too many people ate too much food. Cringed listening to the front desk receptionist say that while questioning if I was actually staying at a Cat 7 property. Lounge is closed due to COVID protocols which makes complete sense given the times. What doesn’t make sense is that the restaurants and bar are not following said protocols. Makes one question the intention of keeping a lounge closed given it isn’t generating revenue. Room is clean and spacious. Gym is big with good equipment. Pool is nice with great views. Property is in a great location - walkable to many nice restaurants and things to do. All in all, everything but the service is good at this property. Management takes zero ownership and it just cascades down through the staff. Disappointed we used valuable points at this property and wouldn’t recommend others do so.
This hotel was awesome and from the upper floors gives a fantastic view of the city of Austin. The pool was really nice from the 5th floor and had a great view even from there. The towels were so clean and the service so nice. The beds were so comfortable which is the most important thing. They brought a fridge within 5 minutes of us calling them -wish we had asked sooner. The restaurants were really good too especially the Hamburger place. We only wished it was open more days. The tacos were also amazing at the downstairs restaurant. It seemed like an exciting hotel and felt very safe. It was our first time to Austin so this hotel gave a wonderful experience for us. Most people abided by the pandemic rules of masks and social distancing. The parking was helpful. We could walk to neat places nearby.
The hotel is located in a great spot right near the river. You are definitely paying for the location. The rooms are pretty small and not anything special. The walk in shower was very nice. The pool is super crowded on the weekends, so if you want to use it you need to get there pretty early. The restaurant is nice, but has a very limited menu. Everything we ate was fantastic though.
Bottom line, this is the best JW I have been to and will not stay anywhere else when I am in town. I have never seen a staff work so well! The biggest reason for our amazing stay was your MOD WHIT HAMILTON. He gets it! I have been to Marriotts all over the world and and I can tell you know one has ever treat myself and guest so well. A fellow associate told me he won JW’s Best associate award and he needs that award again for the amount of service we were given. Thank you. I will be back and can’t wait to experience this kind of service.
As a Titanium Elite member this hotel does not really appreciate your status within the Marriott network. Was denied a guaranteed late checkout, executive lounge had no food for the guaranteed lounge access benefit and they refused to bring any more food out. No upgrade was available. Basically expect to just have a normal experience with your stay, no frills or thrills. For the cost of the rooms at the hotel, I will never stay again given the lack of appreciation for my loyalty with the Marriott Brand.
You can tell Austin is growing at a rapid rate and they arent missing a beat with this property. Well attended to staff and great food and drink options. The staff was extremely helpful at all times. Brian at the front desk is one of the best front desk associates Ive ever dealt with as a Marriott Member. We felt like he was there just for us. Amazing job to the entire team.
Just a typical Marriott experience where the absolute minimum was provided for an elite member. My suite night awards didn’t clear. But again that’s typical of Marriott Bonvoy program these days (and not the hotel’s fault they would say). Anyone out there has ever managed to use their suite night awards? I guess they’ll go to waste again. Elite breakfast was provided in the Executive lounge. The breakfast can be considered the minimum definition of a “hot breakfast”. (Think rubbery scrambled eggs, tangled bacon/sausage (alternating) and bland potatoes every single day…not unlike what you’d get at a Fairfield Inn). My 2 biggest issue however was that first, the WiFi in the hotel was down for 2 out of the 5 days I was there. Not being able to work from the room was a big hassle. And second, I had a big billing issue after I checked out that is still ongoing. So in summary, the hotel was beautiful, the location great, staff were friendly, but everything else just your plain average conference hotel.
Checking in could not have been easier. As an elite platinum member I was immediately upgraded to a room on the 31st floor with a great view of the city. The staff could not have been friendlier, the facilities were immaculate and well maintained.Though we were there for just one night, I would have gladly stayed for a week or two and enjoyed Austin.
The hotel is nice but expensive even with a conference discount. I arrived early so they kindly offered me a double instead of a king and I took it. The beds are not comfortable and the rooms are just okay. Nothing spectacular. I was on the 6 floor overlooking the construction project across the street and had no view. My biggest complaint is the techno music they play throughout the facility and at the pool. You either love it or hate it and I hate it. Why not switch it up?
Nice hotel. Make sure you keep your confirmation information as the hotel will conveniently miss place your reservation stay duration after you have checked in and then try and extend your stay at the EXTREMELY higher room rates, very unprofessional. Also the waiting staff in the main bar will stair right at you and not even acknowledged your existence and will move on to a different table... We had to order at the bar every night because the waitresses refused to serve us and when they finally saw at the table we had tons of high priced drinks and Champaign they would come up to us with a lame excuse as to why they didnt come to us before...
The hotel is great, in a great location, with wonderful restaurants in a bar scene. However, there’s a building being built next door and when you check in they don’t let you know about this. It was an absolute nightmare - they do construction all day and all night and I could get no sleep at all. Front desk should’ve warned anybody they put on that side of the building but there was going to be this incessant noise. I got zero rest and did not have time to get a different room because I was at a Convention. Really disappointed in my stay.
My husband and I came here earlier this week and spent three nights at this hotel to celebrate my birthday. First off, they are doing a wonderful job following all COVID-19 protocols. Parking is pricey ($49.00/day for self-parking) but I guess that’s expected when you stay in downtown. The room we stayed in was 3206 and might I say, it was an excellent room! Great view of the city and Lady Bird Lake. The room was clean except our bedsheet had a small piece of hair but nothing un-bearable. Front desk was very pleasant to deal with which I greatly appreciate. Everything at the hotel is open minus their Italian restaurant. Easy access to the fitness room and pool (everything was clean and spacious). Thank you guys for a great stay!
I stayed over the weekend. Everything was super clean and everything was marked off for social distancing. I will deathly recommend for anyone trying to stay in the downtown Austin area. The pool is amazing with great views and customer service the waitresses and bartenders are top notch
So many things went wrong:Disappointed on so many levels:- was not greeted when I arrived; literally not even a “good evening” (nor was the status acknowledged)- Offered to pay for a 4pm checkout which was ignored so my wife and newborn had to leave the room at 2pm- Breakfast was supposed to come within 25 minutes but took almost one hour - Valet parking crashed my carPre-COVID, I was a Titanium member. This has been by far the worst hotel guest experience in my life.
I got the room last minute as I decided to stay in Austin for an extra day. The staff was so helpful, and got me in right away. The room view was not bad as I was located to the side part of the bldg; and it was very clean and comforting - I felt home. I also got room service, and requested it to be expedited as I was starving and didnt want to leave the room to go eat somewhere else. My food came within 15 minutes from when I ordered, and it was so tasty!! I highly recommend this hotel if youre looking for a quality/comfortable place to stay. ;)
The Location of this JW Marriott is perfect. You have great restaurants, bar, pharmacy, and clothing stores at walking distance. The hotel is well kept nice and clean. The bedrooms are nice and spacious. The pool was a little small for the size of the hotel I thought but it was a nice pool. The gym was beautiful.
Beautiful Hotel with great views. Only thing that doesn’t make sense for me is that you have to valet if you have an electric vehicle and want to charge it onsite (charging is free so that’s a plus). Easy walk or scooter around the city, great restaurants around as well.
Stay was ok. The beds were really, really hard. Woke up with back pain. When we booked we paid extra for a king but they gave us 2 doubles and didn’t say anything about it at check in. The water they provide in the rooms taste disgusting like you’re drinking lake water. The shower was nice, really good pressure and a good size. House cleaning just made the bed and replenished towels, nothing extra (picking up things or wiping down the bathroom counters).I ordered breakfast room service, timing wasn’t bad (took about 30min) but my waffles for cold. Was a little disappointed, the last JW Marriotts I have stayed at were wonderful, this one was a little disappointing.
We were in Austin for a wedding. Everything at the hotel was fine until Saturday, when 2 of the 3 elevators to the top floors went out of service, making it a long wait to get up to, and down from your room. In addition there was no room in the parking garage ( for which I was paying $50.00 a day) when I got back from the wedding on Saturday night. Finally, it took about 25 minutes to get my car back from the valet on Sunday morning. Not the type of service I expect from a J. W. Marriott
Pro’s: The front desk staff, restaurant staff and spa staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location, the beds were comfortable and loved the floor to ceiling windows. Con’s: The room itself was slightly disappointing. The tiny fridge was hard to use, it was on the floor and the carpet made it hard to open. The shower was in desperate need of tile replacement and one of the lights in the bathroom was burned out. I told the housekeeper about the light and asked her to replace it but it did not get replaced. The elevators were extremely slow, several other guests said only 2 of the 3 elevators were working which caused long wait times. The worst part of my stay was the EXTREMELY disappointing daybed rental at the pool. The waitress told me it included pool side service. She brought water, took one drink order and never checked on me again. I was there for four hours. I got up at one point and walked around to find her so I could order an appetizer and another drink. After she brought those I didn’t see her again for hours till she came to cash out. I hadn’t seen her in so long I thought she had gone home! I was absolutely shocked to see a “service charge” was added to the already insane “minimum charge” when I received ZERO service! I would never waste the money on the daybed rental again, it was the worst part of my stay because of the terrible service. Overall, I gave this hotel a good score because the good outweighed the bad. I’d stay again however I’d avoid the pool (unless I opted to sit at the pool side bar).
This was a return visit to this property because we enjoyed so many things about the place. The location in downtown Austin, its swank decor and the pool area. We also like the outdoor burger joint and bar area. All that being said, we waited in line to get checked in a bit longer than I would have liked. The burger joint closed early one night for seemingly no reason and I couldnt find notice. The room service took too long the first night. We had the hardest time setting up a cabana rental (although they had plenty available). And we had a few other small issues during our two night stay. I understand it was a busy weekend with the reopening in full swing, but It was like a lot of small paper cuts. We still had a good time, because we were with our girls, but it was a bit painful. I like the place and so we will go back and prayerfully, itll be back on par with our previous visits.
I travel a lot for work and I’ve spent time traveling over seas and have stayed at a variety of hotels from high end to low end. When it comes to stays it’s the little things that do the hotel justice…This hotel has the best shower head in terms of pressure and volume that I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. A lot of hotels like to have a low flow, 3 nozzle spray shower…not here. The shower head has about a hundred very tiny nozzles that blast the water on you at the perfect pressure it feels like a water massage.
We were in Austin to visit with my daughter, son in law and 1 month old granddaughter. Our stay was for 2 weeks! Our stay at the JW Marriott was amazing. Everyone was so friendly, everything was done with a smile. Service for everything was top notch! Beds were so comfortable, rooms were big, shower was wonderful. We can’t wait to come back. We felt like we were at home there!!!
Amazing place! Perfect location to check out downtown Austin. The corner restaurant is great. Food service was on point. The burger is awesome....zucchini bread yes.....burnt ends ...heck yeah....beer ,wine and drinks were great. The decor of this place is amazing...each room has its own Austin feel with a rustic vibe. The pool was crowded but still very nice cool water and when you up 5 sories there is a breeze to chill you. Guests and the staff were super friendly just like Texas is known for !! Try to get the highest floor you can because the views are amazing!!
Was extremely disappointed in my visit here at the JW. Upon arrival I was told due to my late check in ( I checked in via mobile app at 1140 am for a 3pm check-in) that I was now being moved to a room with 2 queens instead of a room with a king as I originally booked. Jarred offered to give us $50 off the room and access to the the executive lounge. Not only did I not receive the $50 off the room but also joining the lounge for breakfast was denied access by the front host due to not being on the list after being told we were added. I also placed the do not disturb on our room prior to leaving. When we arrived back at our room the room was entered by the hotel cleaners even with the tag on the door. For a hotel that is well above 5 stars we received anything but that. Gorgeous location but will never recommend this hotel to stay nor will I be booking here again.
It had everything I needed. Not as sumptuous as other 5* hotels, but its also not a city that has tremendous competition at this level. So, for Austin, 5* is a suitable rating. Nothing wrong with the hotel, grounds, staff, food, or drinking areas; its just not as Grand as it could be! Notice the rating is based on context, not flat out comparison to other cities with many 5* choices.
The JW Marriott Austin is very nice and situated in the perfect spot. The only problem we had was with the customer service at the pool bar, Corner bar and the bar inside the hotel lobby. The employees came probably like twice to ask us if we were ok or needed anything else. We had to raise our hands so they could acknowledge our existence. The room was very clean.
Wonderful stay at the JW Marriott in Austin. The staff was incredibly accommodating - we were in the middle of a move so we had a lot of luggage and requested an early check-in and late check-out, as well as changed rooms in the process, and they didn’t hesitate with any of our high maintenance asks. The rooms are clean and beds comfortable. The pool is heated with great poolside service. We had breakfast and dinner at The Corner restaurant- food was amazing. The hotel’s location can’t be beat- very convenient walking distance to everything you need. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!
This was an extremely disappointing stay. We stayed in an executive suite for a long weekend culminating with our wedding. What a disaster. While we were promised extra full length mirrors weeks in advance, the day of we were told none were available. We called for valet an hour before I needed to leave, and the car was still so late we ultimately had to tell them we couldn’t wait any longer and I had to walk in the Texas sun to my wedding venue downtown. We also called the front desk when leaving to let them know we’d like them to turn the room over, especially as it had been the bridal suite for getting ready, but came back on our wedding night to a dirty room. Would not recommend at all if you need anything more than a place to stay.
The lounge staff was not cordial. They basically seemed to be MIA. The breakfast items and evening snacks were way, way below acceptable. Even the rooftop staff members did not seem to be at their best behavior. To top it all off, I was double charged for parking and it is taking forever to get this corrected.
The staff is cordial, and manager is a great guy. Food is really good. Do not leave Austin which having a good brunch with a few cocktails @JW Marriott Austin. I would agree that I hated the surrounding area, which Marriott has no control over it thats the job of the city to remove all the homeless from downtown, as its much needed. Overall I would give this Marriott for hospitality, food, staff, 5/5 surrounding areas... no so good. therefore in total 4/5.
Ive been a loyal and repeat visitor to this property way before the pandemic and even during. Each time, the experience gets worse and worse. There is zero personalization to repeat visitors or status. Its obvious the leadership is focused on large groups rather than the repeat guests. I used to know many of the front desk supervisors and the assistant GM, but they have all turned over and its like going from being greeted like family to now a stranger disturbing the host. The final straw that shows just how impersonal and cold things have gotten was checking out. Upon check in I requested a 1:00pm checkout and told it was not a problem. At 10:00am someone came to our door wanting to collect our trash because they thought we were checked out. I told them we had a 1pm checkout to which he replied not according to my notes. At 12:00pm the TV rebooted and I was kicked off the internet. I called down to the front desk and was told the system automatically checked me out even though I had not checked out. Once again I told them we had a 1:00pm check out. At 12:56pm we get a knock on the door by the same gentleman with his large black trash bin on wheels reminding me I told him we would be gone by 1:00pm. Im sad to see this happen. Its such a shame the customer service is gone.
We are in the middle of an 8 day stay and this has been one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a while. Clean rooms, Fresh Linen and Towels, Great Wifi and TV, Lovely Pool, Nice enough staff, and perfect location. Valet is also convenient and timely. The only con is we ordered room service one night and the burgers weren’t good at all. But I still highly recommend.
The hotel is in a great locations, one block from the river and in the downtown area. The staff is friendly and helpful. We used self-park and the valet personnel greeted us and explained what to do. The hotel lobby is large with a nice fire pit. The outdoor pool/deck area looked awesome. The room was large with a nice view and the bathroom and shower were very good. They have a Starbucks and several restaurants as well.
Visited Austin for a getaway weekend and stayed at JW Marriott Austin. We travel a lot and our stay at this Marriott was average at best. Valet parking is $50 per day, but the service we received was so frustrating, we tried to only visited areas we could walk too, too much of a hassle and wait to get our car! We were honked and yelled from other Marriott customers because it took so long for a valet to come get our car and move it; if we had moved we would have to circle the block and get back in line that extended far into the street! Management blamed the poor service on lack of staff, if thats true reduce your valet pricing and inform customers it may be easier to self-park at this time. We paid for an upgraded corner room with views. The views we received were of building construction zone! Again, management said we shouldve been informed at check-in, we were not. We requested a small refrigerator in the room (too keep medication cold) and was told we would have one with an upgraded room, of course there was none and we had to wait for delivery of one. The room was average, nothing special, weve stayed at other Marriotts where rooms were much nicer. Long, long lines to check-in, check out, to pay for snacks (same line as check-in), ask questions, anything, just not worth it. As a Bonvoy member there were no perks (ex: free breakfast, free drink, newspaper, etc) extended at this location. Very Disappointed at this JW Marriott. Well try the competition next time.
We went for a family vacay. Hotel is central to everywhere. Staff is extremely helpful. Pool was very crowded on weekend but back to normal on week days. Will return. The Italian restaurant was closed when we were there. The corner restaurant had a limited menu. Please bring back the shrimp and grits!!
We came in from the Lakeway Area for a staycation to celebrate a friends birthday. We checked in and the staff was nice enough to upgrade our room and put our friends on the same floor as us.The hotel was clean and staff were nice and professional in the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised that the bars and pool was open. The pool was really busy, folks having a great time and we loved seeing that, however, it was almost over capacity and we struggled to find a place for the 4 of us to sit. I was also suprised and taken back that they shut down part of the sitting area at 4pm? Who does that on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We were told that we could still hang out right by the pool, with the other 100 people - no thanksHonestly the only complaint was the pool area being shutdown at 4pm. I could see 6pm but mid afternoon? Cmon Marriott.
Only ok for a convention hotel. Had issues with the room never solved or followed up. Had my luggage delivered to hotel and I had to track it down the next day. Obviously they so a lot of meeting so they have captive audiences so why try to enhance guest experiences.
Great facility in a great location with excellent service. We had many out-of-state guests come down for my daughters wedding and were not able to rent a car due to a nationwide car shortage. They still got to experience Austin culture because of the hotels location. The hotel is within walking distance to the Capital, museums, 6th street, and great restaurants.
My daughter and I came in for a homegoing service for my father’s best friend. The staff was amazing and I so appreciate the late check out to allow us to time to attend the service without rushing to get back. We had plenty time to change and get on the road. Absolutely love this hotel.
Had this been my first Marriott experience, I would likely not be a rewards member. Overall very clean, but staffing appears short and staff are tired and rude. Never had such an unpleasant experience at a Marriott before. Starbucks staff were outstanding though and our room housekeeper excellent. Pool bar and restaurant staff not so much. Will not return to this location.
We arrived on the weekend of the marathon 4/ 2021. Austin is a happening place and the hotel was definitely in the post covid rebuild. However we did experience longer than normal wait in restaurants due to severe staff shortages. I am attributing it all to Covid of course and it was nice to sit in restaurants and listen to live music for the first time in months. The hotel was very nice, clean and pleasant. The pool on the 5th floor was clean and not too crowded during the weekday.
My husband had taken a day off to get away from town (we live in Houston) and finally sleep in- This was the only day he had taken off since starting a new job- and after a late night up watching a movie and ordering room service there was a 4:45 a.m fire alarm. After trekking down 32 flights of stairs -we were told it was a false alarm that only sounded on the top 3 floors of the hotel! It took us a bit to try to get back to sleep.Otherwise, we were pleased with how the hotel utilizes a wrist band system for the pool area- therefore the pool area was not overly crowded. Room service was busy so it took about 50 minutes to get our order, but we were told ahead of time. The food and server were both great. The room was clean and cool when we arrived. Overall we were just happy to get a day off and to getaway, but just wished our sleep would not have been interrupted; otherwise a great stay.
What would have been an excellent experience was severely hindered by the awful customer service at the rooftop pool bar. It was totally unacceptable, so much so that people walked out and we left after one drink and it was not busy. Had the bar staff attended to the needs of ALL the customers as they did to the younger ones they were flirting with and ignoring the rest of us, it might have been better. I want you to know ALL the other staff were exceptional! Couple bad eggs ruined it.
Very nice experience with my family. Reception staffs were only friendly. The room was cozy. Overall clean and organized very well. And swimming pool was so nice.It has great access to nearby stores and restaurants. However comfort inside was stained & dirty exposed out of cover. No refrigerator is another minus. Pics are added
Enjoyed our weekend stay in Austin at the end of July. The positive: The hotel is is in a central location and you can walk to the Capital, the Congress bridge for batch watching and many other areas of Austin. Many restaurants within walking distance as well. Check in was friendly and efficient. The negative: We had 3 rooms. Although the rooms were spacious, the main issue was that the rooms were not clean. There was garbage left in the core we of one room. The bathroom in 2 of the rooms was not mopped or mopped with a very dirty mop. There was plenty of mold in the shower as well.We luckily now bring disinfectant wipes and cleaned ourselves. Dirty rooms are unacceptable in these times.
Truly have never had better service! So far the bellhop, valet, and check in counter have been the utmost superior service. Whit and Vanessa helped me coordinate my bags and having a room closer to the elevator because I had fallen earlier and was afraid I sprained my ankle. They were all smiles, very gracious and patient, and just overall a great representation of the Marriott brand! These two are true professionals. Looking forward to my stay!Also- there was a new guy, said today was his first day, and he didn’t know where the ice machine was. He went out of his way to find someone to help me and came back to my room to let me know that house keeping delivers it. That’s customer service at its finest! (Him coming back and the fact that it gets delivered.)
Stayed at the JW this past week and the manager on site, Whit Hamilton, was extremely unprofessional and rude during check-in. After not being able to give us the rooms we had booked because they had over-booked, he downgraded us and told us to be thankful we are still being served. His tone completely changed to being polite when a elite JW member (some JW membership thing) walked in and asked for accommodations next to us. We complained about this to one of the other people at the concierge, Angel, who was so kind that we ended up having a better time than it started. I hope JW Marriott hires more empathetic managers who are receptive to their guests. Will be staying at the W till then.
Amazing view from the huge window in the room. Super nice rooftop swimming pool + bar/lounge area. Nice modern decor in the rooms and comfy furniture. Showers are amazing and bathrooms are stocked with everything you would need. They literally have a Starbucks and a spa IN the hotel. What more could you ask for? 🥰Located within walking distance of all kinds of bars and restaurants and things to do! Best hotel in Austin!
So disappointed from booking to when I had to leave to go to another hotel. Never did that, but I expect more from JW than having a soaking wet floor and being threatened. Amenities and experience I paid for were not available. Security made dozens of people get out of the pool on a beautiful night with no decent explanation why or an apology. After the restaurant I was going to have my birthday dinner at didnt ever even open, I went to bed so upset. Unfortunately, I woke up to construction and a crane outside my window after asking for pool view.
The room reminded me of a Holiday Inn without the Microwave and Refrigerator. For the price of the room it would have been nice to be able to keep a couple of cold drinks in the room or warm up some food from the surrounding restaurants in the area. The lack of these items is not a complete mark-down due to the fact that everything else in the hotel was excellent and the staff, top notch. Would still come back.
Nice hotel but better options for price. I was disappointed when I paid extra for a lake view opened the curtains to see a red crane and the lake at the very corner of the window. Went back down to tell concierge who said we didn’t pick lake room but he would do it for us- he just moved us up a couple floors same view. Parking is too expensive for the amount you pay. Pool is just ok and pool drinks not good. Also no free WiFi was a surprise I’ve stayed and many hotels and never experienced that at a four star hotel
The hotel is fantastic...we long have stayed at the JW Marriott on Canal St. in NOLA for Law Institute meetings and have grown accustomed to their service, the quality of the rooms and the restaurants. Austins was all we had come to expect and more. The location is terrific and the hotel pool on the roof offered my grandchildren a swim that they werent able to get at their club since the pandemic. The best!!!
Marriott has set the standard for excellence with this property and I suspect for anything Marriott in Austin, it will follow the same pattern. The staff was tripping over themselves to please and do anything to make your stay as easy as possible, Rooms were decorated upscale, with elevators that actually moved you every time with a minimal delay. Corners restaurant blew us away with service and the food was over the top fantastic. Do not check out without eating in that restaurant. Thank you Marriott for exceeding all expectations.
Ive been meaning to review this one for awhile so here are my notes from multiple stays.Staff = Phenomenal. Even when amenities were severely limited during CV19 they went out of their way to welcome me as a Titanium member and offer alternatives to the standard benefits. The rooms were all really comfortable and I always had a good view. The pool is really nice and offers some amazing views as well.
The location of this hotel is key to a great stay in Austin. The pool, restaurant options and coffee bar within a few floors of each other makes for meeting any needs throughout the day. Being within a mile of all of the major areas of downtown Austin, makes it easy to walk to your destination of choice. Their gym is all inclusive with plenty of space and super clean. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would be tempted to never leave the building, as it really does have everything you need.
I had a conference and even though I live in town, I decided to splurge and stay at the hotel where the conference was being held--less time driving and a mini vacation. I had a great time and it felt more luxurious than the price indicated. A great deal. I recommend taking advantage of special promos because the rack rate--whatever they call it when they just quote you the price when you phone them--is not the best price to be had. I think its something like $500/night vs. $195 in a Google ad on an off day--like a weekday. I enjoyed my stay. Thanks!
A friend and I traveled to Austin to get away from the cold Wisconsin weather for a few days. Despite most of Austin being closed because of Covid we made a smart decision to stay at the JW Marriott downtown. Every part of the hotel was clean and we felt comfortable and safe in the hallways, elevators, in the restaurant area and even on the outdoor pool deck area. We came to Austin to get outside and do a lot of walking around. Everytime we asked the front desk for waters they pulled them out and provided them. It was awesome. And, although the concierge room was closed they provided us with vouchers at the in-hotel Starbucks where we grabbed some excellent coffee and a little breakfast items. This is a great hotel and you wont be disappointed with a stay here!
The good things first -All of the staff who we interacted with in the hotel and restaurant were extremely pleasant and helpful. I cant emphasize this point enough! The hotel was lovely and clean. We were thankful to be able to check in before the standard time. The not so great -We would have appreciated a refrigerator in the room, especially given our length of stay.No kids menus in the restaurant or the pool area. Everyone was very accommodating with verbal options of kids items and I understand that families may not be the target audience for this location, but it would have been appreciated. The extremely disappointing -When I booked our queen room through the JW Marriott website, I requested early check-in and a rollaway. I called the Friday before our arrival to confirm both. The person who I spoke with could not confirm the early check-in (as I expected would be the case) but did confirm that a rollaway was available for our room. When we arrived on Saturday (after navigating air travel, rental car, and car seats with three young children), we were told at check-in that we were unable to have a rollaway because it was a fire hazard in the room. Let me say - I have the utmost respect for safety procedures, most especially when it comes to fire hazards. HOWEVER. We were extremely disappointed that, first, itd even been an option to book the rollaway on the website with our room type and second, that it was confirmed to us verbally before our stay. We felt that we were in situation that we had not known or agreed to, with one of our kids sleeping on the floor for the entire WEEK of our stay. If itd been a night or two, sure, not a problem. But if wed have known that someone would be sleeping on the floor for the entire week, at the price we were paying, we would definitely have chosen a different hotel. We were appreciative that staff brought us extra blankets and pillows but still unhappy with the situation.I did mention the situation and express my disappointment during checkout to the manager on duty, who said hed look into it and contact me later that day. I also completed the Marriott survey. I never heard back from that person and have not heard from anyone else with Marriott.
A few times on busy days the food came cold or missing items that we ordered. Location of the hotel is great. It’s close to everything including the homeless people camping two blocks away. Hotel is not bad overall but you can stay at the marriot down the street for a better price with a fridge and microwave in the room.
Very bad service; for the price you pay there is no mini refrigerators and when we called reservations they said they would provide all amenities. It has been hours that we asked for amenities and none have been provided. When we went to the restaurant, they were not cleaning up properly after each customer left. They would just wipe the table without any spray or anything and with the same hands without using sanitizer they would set the table for a new customer. We had to tell our hostess and she ensured us that they do take all the precautions but we did notice they never did after the table next to us left.
I stayed at the JW Marriott in Downtown Austin because of its proximity to everything. We were a max of ten minutes away from most of the places/attractions we wanted to see. The best part was the corner view room that we had, it was an amazing view of the river and downtown area. Would highly recommend!
While this JW is generally a reliable location (my colleagues and I are there at lest once a quarter), this last trip was anything but reliable. Apparently, the hotel WIFI was down, and the front desk did not inform anyone about this at check-in. When I called to complain, the At Your Service people were nonchalant about the issue. It caused me considerable issues with my business, and I had to wander around downtown Austin to find a place with WIFI service. It took two days to fix, and for my trouble, I was offered a mere 5,000 BonVoy points, which I have not received. Post pandemic travel is challenging enough without these kinds of issue and ack of servcie.
Wow! Gorgeous hotel! My husband and I have stayed in tons of Marriott all over the US and this is by far one of the best. Friendly service, gorgeous decor, trendy bar and restaurant, pool, live music. The rooms were clean with great views and THE BEST shower ever. We will definitely stay here again!
Central to many fun activities!! Easy walk to 6th street, Rainey street, the capital building, and the congress Bridge to see bats come out at night.Upscale, clean, friendly, comfortable hotel. Highly recommended. Note that the pool is smaller than we thought and it was standing room only on Friday and Saturday when we were there. Sunday afternoon was much less crowded. We will definitely stay here on our next visit!!
This is an otherwise nice Marriott hotel but NO Internet is a BIG problem for a hotel that caters to business travel. And for a big chain where we are paying hundreds of dollars a night, you made NO real effort to fix the problem. This was not a case where all of Austin did not have Internet because of a natural disaster. This was a Marriott software problem. Come on, big hotel chain, find solutions for people while they are still there!
I truly enjoyed everything about my stay here. The biggest disappointment was the limited breakfast options and the options that were available were extremely over priced. The service lacked as well. Meals didnt come out as ordered and the last day there I believe the waitress reflected the food options.
The staff was rude and acted as if it were an inconvenience that we were there! Not only in one spot, but throughout the entire hotel (Pool, pool bar, restaurants, starbucks, etc)! The valet was the only exception, they were great! It was truly unbelievable! I’ve never experienced this at a Marriott or any other hotel! We willNot go back, and it was such a bummer ending our wonderful 2 week vacation at this hotel. Do not recommend!

2022-06-12I was there for a convention. My wife enjoyed going to the spa and pool area. She got a massage one day and thought that was fantastic. I spent all my time in conference rooms. The rooms were fine. The facility can handle very large conferences from what I could tell. The food that they provided for the conference people meals (breakfast and lunches) was good. We also went to the hotel restaurant area for some of our meals and that was very good too. They have a nice outside corner bar that was always well attended. Its fully covered so it can be year round I would assume. Lots of things around the hotel if you want to go to different places to eat or drink. All of those were within easy walking distance.

2022-02-08One word for this hotel...Spectacular! The architecture and attention to detail is fabulous! Everything...even down to the decor and lighting has been well thought out!The sconces in the bathroom are fantastic! The headboards on the beds are well-appointed for the Texas ambiance for which they are striving! The bar/lounge is relaxing with its artistic fireplace! The service is terrific! Every employee does a fantastic job and is happy to be there! The rooms are very clean and fresh! The location cant be beat! Right in the middle of the best part of Austin! Great restaurants within walking distance as well as fantastic running and biking paths! Cant say enough great things about this hotel!

2022-03-25Comfortable and spacious rooms which are well appointed but could maybe use a refresh soon. The property is immaculate and the hotel staff is very assiduous. The Starbucks in the hotel is handy for a quick coffee but seriously understaffed so you will wait a while. Its a business hotel, so it feels a bit corporate, but they do a very good job at what they do. No complaints at all and we would be happy to stay again.

2022-06-19Good location, nice lobby and the corner restaurant on site was pretty good. We got avocado toast and beef burger. Both were spot on.The rooms can use an update. The carpet in particular was a bit worn. However, the shower was great (powerful shower head). The bed was very comfortable.

2022-06-30The check-in process was easy enough; however, I opted for a late-check out via the app several months before my stay. Upon check-in, I inquired about late-check out. I was told the latest I could check out was 12:00 without inquiring a fee. However, my coworker was told the latest they could check out without inquiring an extra fee was 2:00 (both of us were not loyalty members of Marriott). The conflicting information ended up not being a big deal, as I had to change my flight and left before 11:00 am anyway. However, some staff training needs to happen so everyone is on the same page. The bellhops were also very helpful! They helped me load everything into my Uber and thanked me for my stay.Cleaning and overall room service was very nice. My room was thoroughly made and reset everyday. The room cleaning staff was very friendly and we mutually greeted each other everyday in the hallways. Additionally, the front desk promptly helped me get more complimentary coffee delivered to my room. The outside bar and pool on floor 5 was lively and well-kept. It had a great vibe. All bar and pool staff were friendly. The outdoor bar staff even let me and four other coworkers have an evening table for about hour, even though we didnt have a reservation.

2022-06-07The hotel is beautiful & has a restaurant & bar attached. Those working at the front desk met us in the lobby & walked to the desk to check us in. They couldn’t have been nicer. Everyone inside & at the restaurant was friendly & helpful.Unfortunately after arriving in our room, a couple of guests opened our door & came inside. My husband was sitting on the sofa & I was in the restroom. The guests had been given the same suite & keys! Just imagine our surprise & theirs! Those at the front desk handled it well. One other thing that was a little strange. When we arrived in our rental car, there were attendants waiting to open our doors which was very nice. However, they didn’t help us with suitcases. I pulled my big heavy bag out of the back myself. I assumed they would help as they do at other hotels.Other than these couple of mishaps we enjoyed the hotel.

2022-02-20I had a great stay at the the JW Marriott Austin over the Super Bowl weekend. Before I even arrived, though, I got AMAZING service from Hunter. A couple of days before I arrived, I called the hotel to ask some general questions about the facilities. Hunter not only answered all of my questions, but also offered additional information that was very helpful. He was so kind and had a great - GREAT! - attitude. The funny thing is, I didnt even tell him that I was going to be in the hotel within that same week - or that I was coming to the hotel at all. He said something along the lines of, Im glad to be of service, if you ever decide to join us at that hotel. He had no idea until I asked for him when I was checking out, just to let him know that I appreciated how great his service was.Jared also did a great job with my check in and, when the bell man went back to the valet during my check-in, Jared brought my bags up to my room. And James was helpful during my check out.Service throughout my stay, from the valet folks to the in-room dining team, I was delighted with the service.I was also very, very happy with my room. I have titanium level status with Marriott so, frankly, I usually expect a room upgrade of some sort. I was not disappointed. The upgraded king room I was given on the 34th floor had so much space. And one thing I really, really loved was the water pressure and water temperature in the shower. It. Was. Awesome! And Im the kind of person for whom bad water pressure and low temperature will spoil a stay. Its really important to me.I would definitely stay at the JW Austin again.

2022-05-17JW has the best service with a smile. We stay here sometimes to get away. Its nice to get a call from downstairs asking are you enjoying your stay. is there anything else we can do for you. What you want when you want in a timely fashion with out being too ridiculous about it. Their signs say ask for ice and we will bring it. They do no problem. If you order in room dining. Its there very promptly and fresh. If they cant do something they over compensate with something equal or far better value. Its clean all the time. And the beds or the most comfy in town. The shower steaming hot. And all the extra toiletries that make it like home.

2022-03-15I always enjoy coming to the JW. During my most recent trip I was out in a room where I was facing the construction and it was very unpleasant.I reached out to Seda and she was the most pleasant and helpful staff member. She did not hesitate to get me a better room immediately and bright the key to us. Sure provided also suggestions for great food around the area which we enjoyed.Along with your water pressure, JW gets a 5 star from us. Thank you for being awesome.

2022-05-05JW is a luxury hotel and that is clearly shown by the lobby, executive lounge, products in room. Great location, nice rooms, great beds, swimming pool, etc. Just two things that bothered my and why I did not give it 5 stars; the executive lounge attendants did not understand English well and whenever asked something, you pretty much had to explain through single words rather than sentences. Plus no strong options in breakfast for vegans. Second thing was all of the elevators were super dark, not sure if that was on purpose, but I could hardly see anything when I walked it.
