This was my second visit to Kluay Kluay, and I can surely say I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Panang curry with the Thai tea. Both of them were delicious. The spices can go really strong, so be careful of what you ask for. My friend got the fried chicken dish that almost tasted like orange chicken. Loved her dish too. would come back here for sure.
Delicious! I got a Chicken and Shrimp red curry which was great. Even the spice level was on point. I asked for a medium which is never really spicy but their medium spicy is just right... enough tingle to feel the burn but not enough that I cant enjoy my food. Even the rice...which is usually bland at other places had some flavor too it.I highly recommend it as I will be going back.
Atmosphere: Due to being connected to multiple businesses the building itself is on the smaller side but plenty of parking (3rd photo). Once inside, there seemed to be a decent amount of seating even though small footprint. Menu was simple but somewhat confusing to understand, would have liked to have a description of the food or flavors on certain items (1st & 2nd photo).Service: The staff was prompt at first and then was left unattended, after awhile another staff member assisted us and was able to answer any questions we had.Food: The quality of food was amazing and had a lot of flavor. The portion size was more than generous and felt that for the price, it was well worth it. One of the plates we ordered was the yellow curry with chicken (4th photo) and second plate was that of Pad see Ewe (5th photo).Would highly recommend this restaurant for authentic Thai cuisine.
We ate lunch here on Sunday afternoon. We were the first to sit down at noon but by 1:00pm there was a wait. We ordered spring rolls for an appetizer which were very fresh. Both the red and green curries were very very good, anxious to come back and try other menu items! Service was great. We will definitely come back!
Authentic Thai food for a reasonable price! The food is phenomenal and the portion sizes are large. I just had the Pad Kee Mao (spicy noodles) with tofu Lunch special. It came with a spicy egg drop soup, salad, egg roll, and the noodles for $8. If you come in a large group they dont split the check more than two ways so heads up on that. Also, I love hot food so it doesnt bother me but when they say Medium spice, thats really hot and mild really means medium. The food is authentic and delicious, you should definitely check it out!!
I really don’t understand the 4.3 stars - this place deserves at least 4.6 stars and I would say 4.8 stars is more fitting. Blown away! You know how when you get a Little Ceasars pizza you can get a large for like $6 or so, but you know the pizza isn’t as good as a slightly smaller $9 or so build your own MOD pizza? This is nothing like that.Kluay serves LARGE portions of AMAZING food at a great price. So imagine the (large) portion size of Little Caesars, with the (high) quality of MOD with the (low) price of Little Caesars. Easily one of my top 5 favorite places to eat in the BCS area. The pictures included are my LEFTOVERS after eating 2 large servings of their incredibly tasty basil Thai fried rice (with beef).
Order arrived piping hot. We were pleasantly surprised because it was a bit of a drive to deliver it. The entrees were huge portions and packaged well. Chicken pad thai, egg rolls, chicken satay, all excellent. The only entree that was ok was the lava chicken. I think having it straight from the kitchen to your plate with no wait would be better and there was alot of just fried batter with nothing inside. Highly recommend. Yummy.
We discovered this place last week and I am very happy to have found it. I have not been terribly impressed with Asian food in the area in general, and I miss good Thai food. Kluay Kluay replaced an Asian restaurant a year or so ago, one that I was very unhappy with. The service was great, and the wait staff very confident in their food. I had the spicy drunken noodle dish and it was the right level of spicy. The flavor was excellent and what I love about the drunken noodle dish. My wife had the pad thai and was very happy with the dish as well. We also shared a cheese roll appetizer, which was similar to cheese puffs, but were rolled up like small egg rolls with cheese filling. All the food was hot and fresh. The only knock I gave it was because my dish was a bit short on vegetables, or types of vegetable in the dish itself. Otherwise, they offered some great food, and good service.
Fantastic Thai food, and run by actual Thais! Love this place :)Recommendations: Red curry if you like spicy, and yellow curry if you like potatoes. Theres also a dish with glass noodles that I dont remember, but its fantastic.Their Thom Yum soup is also great!- Note that they have a 1-5 scale for how spicy they make it. While I consider myself to have a reasonable tolerance, 3 was verging on inedible.
Went to this place for lunch on 2/23/21. There were six of us and we were not in a rush but the service was really slow. We constantly had to ask for things, including the check. We ordered some appetizers: the spring roll, egg rolls, edamame and dumplings. The appetizers were about average. Five of us ordered hot tea and found out we couldnt all have hot tea because they only had 3 teacups. We were like huh? No one else in the restaurant was drinking hot tea so that wasnt the issue. Towards the end of the meal, I asked our server to refill the teapot with hot water and she said That will be a $2 extra charge is that all right? I said For hot water and no tea bag? She nodded and I passed on paying $2 for hot water. It might have been due to water restrictions related to the winter storms but as she didnt explain or apologize, I think it was an appalling standard charge.I ordered the Pad Thai lunch special with chicken. It came with a salad and when a member of our party asked about what dressings they had, the choices were mayonnaise and mayonnaise, which is hardly Thai. We ended up asking for the peanut dipping sauce and made do with that. The salad was hunks of iceberg lettuce. The soup that came with the meal was a red soup, tasted odd to me and had two tiny chunks of tofu in it. Someone in our party said the flavor was fish sauce. The sauce the Pad Thai was cooked in tasted suspiciously like the soup base and did not have the Thai flavors I expected. Also, I expected vegetables with it and it had four slices of green onion in it. One member of our party had visited the place a long time ago and noted that the decor had changed, the picture of the King was no longer displayed, the staff was no longer Thai and the food was not the same quality that she remembered. She believes that it is no longer run by the same people as it was during her previous visit. As for me, I had eaten some really great Thai food a few weeks ago in Louisiana and this meal was not even close to the same flavor profile or freshness I had experienced in that other Thai restaurant. This pad Thai had a lot of noodles, and odd tasting sauce, some chicken and a few token green onions trying to act as vegetables. Very disappointed and wont be returning.
This was my first time trying Thai food and it left a good impression on me. I ordered the Green Curry with beef and was pleasantly surprised with a wide arrange of flavors. They do serve large portions which is a plus for those who like to take some home for the next days lunch/dinner. Our waitress was nice and helpful when we asked questions about certain items on the menu. Considering that she was the only waitress on hand, she was as attentive as possible and made my first Thai cuisine experience enjoyable :)
We had fried dumplings and chicken satay for appetizers. Both very good. I had the tilapia for my main course, which was outstanding. My sons curry was really good too. My husband didnt care for his noodle dish but just because I think he realized he doesnt really like big noodles - not that it wasnt prepared well. Restaurant itself is small and plain, a little run down. But prices were quite reasonable. Good experience overall.
One of my top 5 Thai restaurants, and the best in BCS. The Panang Curry and Pad Kee Mao are both delicious and traditional as well. Too many Asian restaurants try to appeal to a white audience, but Kluay Kluay sticks to its roots and cooks amazing authentic Thai food that everyone enjoys.
I ordered dinner to go for myself and my husband. I also ordered an extra meal to take to work tomorrow. Little did I know that the portions were HUGE, and I easily turned one meal into four! Not only were the portions large, but the flavor was definitely there. We tried the basil fried rice and the yellow curry. We will definitely be back!
This is my favorite restaurant in the Brazos County. It has so many vegan options, a lot of diversity, great value for the amount of food you get (it always ends up being 2 or 3 meals, they expect everyone to take some food home), and it tastes great. It’s the place I take everyone who is new in town.
The food is absolutely amazing!! After moving in all day, we decided to eat out for dinner. We got the pineapple fried rice, Wun Sen, and another fried rice and they were absolutely delicious! I will definitely be returning. Just a heads up though, when they charge your card, the charge shows up as the owners name so it was kinda confusing to see that on my bank account the next day.
Great food, great amount of food, pleasant service. Its a gem to find.*Edit*Its been 2 years since my initial review. Quality has plummeted. My shrimp pad thai was overcooked and tasted old. Seems like they served me yesterdays food. I cant help but leave a bad review now. Ive been disappointed in the food the past 3 times weve eaten here. I dont know whats changed, but it didnt change for the better.
Absolutely loved the place. Great food and the spice level is amazingly hot. Could also get mild but we ordered our food Thai Hot, their spiciest and got what we bargained for. The basil fried rice and Red curry are particularly amazing. We will visit again if we have a chance.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why anyone would rate this place 5 stars. Walking into the restaurant, it had a very lackluster feel. No kind of decor or design to make any ambiance. I have eaten at many places like that, so I sat down hopeful that the food was good. We ordered pad thai, and cashew chicken. When our food was brought out, we smelled a nasty smell like wet dog. I thought maybe I was imagining things, but when it was set down in front of us, the smell was so rancid I thought I was going to be sick. I immediately told the people I came with that it smelled horrible and I would not be able to eat it. We all tasted the pad thai, and it tasted exactly like it smelled, like a wet dog smells. Disgusting! We immediately sent it back. Our second dish was nasty also. Tasted very sweet and salty and fishy all at once. Not appetizing at all! The waitress asked us if we had ever had Thai food, and we all said yes we love thai food and usually really enjoy our food, but this was not palatable. Will absolutely never go back, and I hope if you read my review, you consider a different restaurant so that you dont waste your time or money on gross food. From the other bad reviews on here, looks like a lot of other people had the same experience as we did. We left still hungry, and went to a drive thru right afterwards. Hope this restaurant listens to its guests and works on their recipes. They leave more than a lot to be desired.
I had the pineapple curry with veggies. It was good. Loaded with pineapple, the sauce was mediocre. My fiance got the green curry with chicken. The eggplant in it was rotten. And the green beans in it were definitely frozen. The sauce was not bad. Big serving of rice with both.
This was the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. We ordered spring rolls, cheese rolls, and grilled chicken to start and they weren’t bad. The cheese rolls were actually pretty good. Then we ordered Pad Thai and Cashew Chicken and this is where it got bad. The Cashew Chicken was really fishy and too salty. The Pad Thai smelled like dog and tasted like dog. It tasted how a really stinky and wet dog smells. Noodles, with dirty dog seasoning. It was so inedible that we had to send it back. The drinks were bland and mediocre. The tea was flavorless and the water was like sink water. The waitress was nice, but the food and drinks were unsatisfactory and unsatisfying. We left the restaurant still hungry and disappointed. I wouldn’t ever go back to this restaurant.
So friendly! We dined in once & ordered out once! Both times they exceeded our expectations. We ordered a lot of food each time due to the size of our family. However, the portion sizes are very large! Plus, if you order takeout the portion size seems even larger this is definitely great if youre on a budget. One order out curry can easily serve 4!Definitely order the mango sticky rice!! It tastes like heaven. In my opinion the currys are the best on the menu! Followed by the awesome pineapple fried rice!
Affordable, delicious and great service. At least thats been my experience so far. I was really impressed with the caliber of food here as it can be difficult to find really good Asian, especially Thai, food here. My server was attentive, very nice and helpful. I had the green curry and it was wonderful!
Terrific food - fresh, exciting, authentic flavors and textures. Couldnt stop eating the Pad See Ewe, and the Basil stir fry and Green Curry were equally delicious. We called ahead and everything was ready and perfectly packed - they helped carry it to my car. And - its less than a mile from our house - finally, a tempting and healthy alternative to cooking at home!!
Of course the food is good, I crave the Tom Yum Soup! (extra vegetables). Good, spicy curry dishes and the flavor of the beef noodles is special and just my style! I ALMOST took off a star because it took 25 minutes for my (soup) take out. I feel like they should have told me it would be a wait - but of course it was worth it!!!
Pretty cheap ambience and surprisingly expensive meal. The water does not taste very good, maybe from lack of a filter. The Beef Peanut Sauce and lump of white rice had the very standard American-Chinese taste and ingredients. The shrimp tempura is exactly like everyone elses (which is to say, still good). The server was very attentive and nice. They were out of cheese rolls. Not a bad experience, but I would probably just go to for traditional Chinese fare before coming here again.
Pleasant surprise. Good food. Good service. Better than I expected for a small college town.Been to Thailand a half dozen time so always compare to what I have gotten in Bangkok or PhuketPad Thai was ok.Sum Tum was greatTum Yum was good but had a different flavor.Panang Curry with Fish was greatSpring Rolls were good.Mixed Curry was very goodIt is BYOB. I would definitely go back.
This place is my wife and Is absolute favorite restaurant in town. The food is great, especially the Basil Fried Rice and Pad Thai. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and are always ready with a suggestion if you dont know what to get.Ive never been there with a big group (which seem to be the only negative reviews for this place), but my wife and I have eaten there 5 or 6 times over the last three months, and our experience has always been stellar.Like all Thai restaurants, if you get something spicy, always order a heat level down from what you would normally think you could handle. The staff is always happy to bring you more spicy seasonings to add if you decide you want to turn up the heat. The prices are extremely reasonable, and the portions are HUGE. With the exception of the Currys, weve taken home leftovers every single time weve eaten there.Long story short, if you want great Thai food at a good price, with good service in a modest, family-owned environment, this is the place to go.
I ordered mild pineapple curry and it was AMAZING!!!! I ordered takeout so I dont know how their waiting service is but the portions are pretty large. However, youll need an order of mango sticky rice for yourself because its definitely too good to share. If you order it take out, eat the mango sticky rice first so its extra fresh and the rice doesnt get too stuck together....GET THE MANGO STICKY RICE.
Im honestly super disappointed. My fiance and I eat here at least every other week and typically its amazing but I called in for a to go order today and they told me it would take 20 minutes so I came by paid and started waiting. After waiting for 30 minutes the lady came out asked me what I ordered and left again. After waiting for an hour at this point I went up and asked them how much longer it would be. She then just ignored me and went in the back and came back out completely ignoring me. I asked her once again and again she blew me off and went in the back finally coming out with my food after i had been there for over an hour and walked off without saying a word. Typically we love this place but they were just very rude tonight and it took way to much time to get our food.
We love this place! The food is amazing and they have great service. Weve been going pretty regularly since I was pregnant with my son and have made friends with the staff. They are wonderful people and they love my son. Pam (the owner) always grabs him and holds him for me and my husband while we eat as long as they arent too busy. Thats a huge bonus for us, but we would go even if she didnt do that!
Awesome food! Small place, had great egg roll, great value. Tom khai Ghai soup was good. Daughters Panang chicken was great! Yom Nur (beef salad)was good as well. I wanna try more menu items, maybe basil chicken. They offer discount for cash too. Ps theres a bank next door, lol.
My lunch special came with soup and a salad, both of which were simple but delicious. The tofu in my red curry was fried for too long, and was too chewy as a result. The vegetables were also a little undercooked. But I loved the curry sauce and everything else about my meal, especially given the low prices. Prepare yourself for hefty portions.
March 2019 update - Dont eat here. The restaurant smells like sewage, the tables and restaurant appear generally dirty, and the food quality has gone downhill. Sad.My original review was 5 stars - Solid Thai. Very very tasty. All of it. Yes, all of it. So many flavors and tastes, you should eat here every day!
Over the many times Ive been here, I have never had any problems. Individually, as a couple, and more importantly- with a party. It conflicts me that anyone would rate it one star, as I have never been treated rudely, nor have I had my party split-up. Ive come to the conclusion that most of these one star reviews are over the past month and from the same individual. I do not know why they would show any spitefulness against a place, best suited for any taste buds. As noted, these fabricated reviews warrant suspicion. Regardless, the prices are great for todays economy; portions are huge, a bit overwhelming (which is a good thing) and the staff helpful and friendly. The very least I must say: there is a reason for such high marks for the past few years. Go and try it yourself. If you see me there, Ill share my favorite dish. Just be careful, Thai food can be very spicy. To be safe, order a heat level below the one you are custom to.
The food here is pretty hit or miss. Ordered the Pad Thai and it had almost no flavor. My friend ordered a meal with the hottest spicy level (he enjoys spice and was warned by the server that it would be very spicy) and when his food arrived it wasnt spicy at all and had almost not flavor, very disappointing. The server was very nice and helpful, but a bit gruff in her tone. The restaurant itself was very dirty and dusty, the booth next to us was covered in ants and the server had to clean it while we were eating. There were also many other dead bugs and dust bunnies near the baseboards.Personally I would not come back, there are many better tasting asian restaurants in town with cleaner establishments. The one upside was that the portions were huge, for $11 my pad thai was enough for at least two people, and I eat a lot of food, too bad it didnt taste very good.
Good spot for quick reasonably priced Thai food. I have traveled many times to Thailand so my taste have been spoiled by authentic cuisine; the current owners although not Thai do a great job of giving customers delicious food. Portions were very large and I was satisfied with the Pineapple Rice, Red Curry, and Tom Ka Gai. Spring rolls were a bit dry, but other dishes did not disappoint. Atmosphere is basic store front style and simply decorated. All the servers were kind and quick to check on us
Someone should teach the owners a lesson in ethics and professional behavior. The owner/manager got into an argument with my friend upon a feedback. Service was pathetic. The plates were not cleared when we requested. She never provided us with silverware and I haven’t even begun to talk about the food. Food was TERRIBLE. We ate it anyways and paid 18% gratuity for the same. She then called the cops saying that we did not pay. Most horrible food and service in CS-B area. Please don’t eat here.
Kluay Kluay Thai Restaurant (which a colleague calls the Double Banana) has proven to be a reliable alternative to some of the hum-drum or usual go to options found in the twin cities. The curry dishes -- green, red, yellow, Panang -- are tasty and reasonably priced. Food hits the table fairly quickly. The salads and fried egg rolls are not bad for what they are, but dont hold any surprises. The soups range from basic to surprisingly good. The chicken satay is better than one might expect. The service is friendly and fast. The food servers are knowledgeable about the menu. Ive eaten here probably a dozen or more times and have not had a bad experience. If you like Thai food, Kluay Kluay is above average for a small restaurant in a mid-size suburban community. Were glad they are here. --I should mention that it is favorite among my colleagues.
Girlfriend brought me home a plate of this after work. I got the curry beef and it was delicious. My only minor complaint is the rice portion was a little small especially compared to the bucket of curry they gave me. If they increased their rice portions for to go orders itd be perfect. My girlfriend also mentioned they were very nice.
Had a bad experience here that I think was caused by a language barrier. I ordered chicken or pork pad Thai, but I think I got tofu. Or if I did get the protein I asked for it was very low quality and not very appetizing. It was also very gritty like there was an overabundance of spices in the dish. There was almost a sandy texture in my mouth. I still ate it all because I paid for it and I didnt have the heart to complain to the young girl who served me. I just probably wont go back.
Everything was awesome, Im a spicy freak and I order everything with some heat. I ordered mine extra spicy and it still was super flavorful and the heat didnt kill the dish. This place taste very authentic and has the food down to a science. ALSO STUDENTS FROM BLIND AND A&M GET A 10%DISCOUNT!!
We will not be going back. The food is far from authentic. The customer service is always bad. 1. What I wanted to eat the waitress said they didnt have, come to find out it was being served. 2. The food I did order didnt come out at all. 3. My husbands stir-fry was put in his soup. I guess she assumed that when he asked for soup with his meal that is what he wanted. Mind you there was no language barrier. 4. I had to keep getting up to find my waitress because she kept disappearing. 5. When I paid, she brought back change but didnt break it down enough so I could properly tip. She made it so that I had to overly tip her! For lousy service!!?? Sha right! So when I asked for her to break the five dollar bill, she asked me how much I wanted back. Uh...all of it! I want all of my money back! Then she said she doesnt have change. No.. you either give me change or get zero tip which at that point I was happy to give. In the end she got a tip, about 10%.We have been there 3x now in Hopes that the experience would improve but it only gets worse. We will not be coming back. For those who do not care about customer service or know what authentic Thai food is, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay away!
The service was terrible from the moment we got there, just as soon as we got the appetizers we knew the food is not going to be good either, but wed already placed the order and didnt want to do that to them, but we should have just left then! It just went downhill from there. The server had an attitude, she was rude and disrespectful. This was my first time there and I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. And whoever said in their reviews that the ambience was great was either lying or just high!
The food is very good. I have been here several times. Wish there was an English explanation for the dishes in the menu. They only have the names of the dishes in Thai. Service is quick and price very reasonable. Service could be done with more of a smile, a smile always ,ages custo, era feel better...
If you are looking for a Thai food experience this restaurant has you covered. You can order many types of Thai curry and other dishes. This restaurant falls short of 4-stars due to its customer service. The staff is not rude but they can be slow to take your order and can be hard to get a hold of if you do not make deliberate attempts to get their attention. The food comes out in a timely manner once you order so if you are craving Thai food during the lunch hour they can get you in and out. Over all was a good experience.
Good place with nice staff.Update: had 2 bad services in a row, first didnt have what I wanted and didnt find out until I go to pick it up and had to change my order and wait. This time was given an ETA of 25 minutes, my order wasnt ready until 50 minutes later. If I want to wait I wouldnt order ahead. Staff needs to be more mindful of estimating times and knowing what is available from the menu.
Let me start by saying the food isn’t always great, the first time the food was amazing and I came back again the food was so plain it had no flavor at all, I thought they were just having an off day so I gave them another shot and again it wasn’t all that great I guess they fired the cook from when they first open bc the cook now isn’t so great! And as for the service the waitress from the first visit was rude, the second time I came was a different waitress was Small Asian girl she seem really nice and helpful! The third time I went it was another different waitress she was more heavy set amd looked Asian as well she was rude too and she was very loud and that I could hear her conversations across the restaurant. Not professional! If they made the food how I first came and the small Asian girl working I would eat there everyday!
I gave 1 star because I could not give zero. This place is terrible. I love phad thai but the one I received was the worst food I ever had. The chef should take some cooking class!! My 9 years old son would have prepared it better. It had nothing else but extremely sweet soy sauce. Inedible. The service was too slaw. We waited for ages.
Ive eaten here once and came back a second time with a larger group since I had enjoyed the food the first time. However, the service here is terrible. The first time, they brought out the wrong dish and the server was very rude and acted like it was our fault that they made the wrong dish.I thought she was probably having a bad day so I gave the place a second try and brought my friends back with me. They wouldnt let us sit at the larger tables in the middle of the dining room and insisted that we split into two groups and sit in booths at opposite ends of the room. There was no reason why we couldnt sit in booths adjacent to each other. In addition, they said we would have to pay on one check, which we were fine with. We were willing to do what they asked but they were being extremely arbitrary and we ended up eating somewhere else. The food is great so I would suggest this place for take-out or smaller groups.
I came here a week ago and everything was great service was great food was great. We had a party of 10 and they told us they couldnt sit us to no more than 8 a table due to the fire code. Which I understand completely and had no problem with, they explained everything thoroughly, move the table close to a booth so it was practically like we were all sitting together. we sat the kids at the booth and told them it was also a grown up table and they loved the idea. Everything was great. i recommended it for my christmas party. 5/5 would come again just for the service- the food is a bonus!
Ive been here at least a dozen times before and enjoyed it. My husband, son, and I went today and it was awful. My husbands food smelled like a public restroom - the kind at highway rest stops. It was overwhelming. He couldnt eat it, couldnt even stay in the restaurant. He just went back to work. My son and I ate what we could of our food. It seemed normal, like every other time Ive gone. Service was slow, it was lunch rush, so I get it. Id finished my drink and while waiting for a refill, decided to have a sip of my sons fountain lemonade. Bad idea. It was off tasting. Like what my husbands food smelled like. At that point I couldnt finish my food. I got to go boxes in hopes it was just the smell of his food jacking with my senses. We paid (not for his dish though!) and left to go grocery shopping. Not even 5 minutes into our stop at heb and we were both running to the bathroom! I blame the lemonade, but just to be sure, Im giving our leftovers to the chickens.I hope this isnt a new norm for this place, but its going to be a while before Im able to go back again.
Food - 10 Star - the best - authentic Thai taste, rich and creamy curry, druken noodles were super delicious - medium spicy was reasonable and perfect tasteService- 10 star - staff is very well trained and wants their guests to be satisfied and happyLocation - great locationCleanliness- place was clean and elegantWe dont eat meat and at times cannot stand smell of meat, when we entered they got us cofee in small cup to make our table doesnt smell meat - indeed thoughful.Whenever we are in town we make sure to eat hereHighly recommended and has good vegetarian options and taste as wellWe didnt order soda but now they have soda with unlimited refills
GO if you want BAD FOOD & if you want to face COPS!The owner needs to address the issues at this restaurant - Flavorless appetizers, tasteless entrees and mango sticky rice was horrible.First of all, we entered the restaurant before 3pm and they still didn’t allow us to opt for lunch menu. Then, when the food was served which contained fish , shrimps and chicken- they didn’t provide knives. We were big group and every time we would ask for some thing, the server (Hispanic Lady - I wish I knew her name) would make faces. We had a birthday girl with us and everyone was scared to ask for knives and instead preferred to not use one or share. After paying 18% gratuity and the bill one of us went to communicate to the Hispanic lady who was at the counter that the food and service was not good and she got rude and said - “we serve the same food to all and everyone likes it” and started raising her voice. Seconds later, she starts screaming and says get out of my restaurant or else I will call cops. On the phone she LIED to 911 saying we are threatening her, her 3 kids (I don’t know what they were doing at the work place) and didn’t pay the bill. Then another Hispanic Man (another server) came out of the kitchen and started apologizing to us saying I don’t know why she does this. And he was sorry. So we stepped outside and waited to explain our part of the story to the cops. We had our receipts to prove that we Paid.Businesses often pay to get customer’s feedback but this restaurant calls the cops and lies. So please don’t go there.
Kluay Kluay has become a pivotal part of my B/CS restaurant rotation. I have no bearing as to what is considered authentic Thai food, but everything Ive had at this restaurant has been fantastic. The Thai hot level of spiciness will offer a challenge to seasoned lovers of spicy food. The few times Ive gone, the food has come out incredibly fast, the service has been friendly, and the waitresses were happy to answer questions. A gem among the heavily-franchised and lackluster restaurants in the B/CS area.
Ive never liked Thai food. Im more of a Chicken Fried Steak and Panda Express guy. A friend convinced me to meet him at Kluay Kluay about 5 months ago and Ive been hooked ever since. I only order the same thing each time so I cant speak for the rest of the menu but I always get: Pad Thai Chicken - Mild - extra crushed Peanuts & no green onions. This is now my favorite meal. Period. Kluay Kluays customer service is excellent and the lady who runs the place is super friendly.
I go to this restaurant almost every week, food is good but what happened today is just unacceptable. We were there with a group of 10 people. At first they came to us saying that we need to pay with only one credit card. We were asking to have at least 2-3 cards charged. The owner went away talking in thai to her husband thinking that no one would understand. Unfortunately for them, we had a thai friend and she understood everything, the owner said that if we dont like this rule we should go eating somewhere else. Well, we did and for sure Im not going back to this restaurant ever again. If they dont know how to do business and they are rude to customers, they are just gonna lose their customers!
Very nice people and good service. The menu is just a bit limited, however the portions are gratuitous and the food is good. The drinks are very limited; once I ordered a soda pop and they brought a can (with a glass of ice), so I just stuck with my water, no biggie.
This is THE place for Thai food in Bryan!!! I particularly like the red curry. If you are crazy hungry, get the Klua klua dish. The Pad Thai is also amazing, as is the pinapple curry and yellow curry. The staff is friendly and really fast. Finally, from cooks to the people waiting the tables, this is an authentic, affordable experience!!
Miss Lourdes is one of the rare types of people that live to serve. Not only are the culinary staff here magicians, their generous nature and constant smiles will have you wanting to move in. The most delicious Thai dining in 100 miles? Thats a bet I would take any day. Great job ladies.
Someone told me that this is supposed to be THE best Thai place in Bryan, however my recent visit was a complete disappoinment. We have ordered egg rolls, chicken satay, and tom yum kong soup for appetizers and a curry and a rice dish for the main course. Out of the appetizers only the chicken satay was worth it, with the soup being almost unedable. The enteries were better, but overall my experience was spoiled with upset stomach and below average service.
This place doesnt look like much, but the food is DELICIOUS!!! Very friendly service too. We had the panang with vegetables and loved it. I agree with the other commenter though, the rice portion could be a little larger for the amount of sauce they give you, but by no means a deal breaker
Some signature dishes are simply lipsmacking. The chicken or tofu pineapple with egg fried rice is a must try. The yellow curry and the panang curry are simply awesome. Quantity is enormous for one meal. some pitfalls: the spicy fish was too sweet, chicken lava was again very sweet and the green curry had some suspicious vegetables. The staff is very rude and gives inconsistent information about their own dishes .
I have no idea why people like these place so much, they probably never been in Thailand or Asia. I’m from Europe and I have been to Asia so many times. This place is the worst place ever. I’ve never tried such a bad food. They put so much salt in my food so I couldn’t it it. It is not even close to Thai food...This place is disgusting.
Very rude old lady! The food is great but horrible service! I do not blame all staffs. Just the old woman. I dont know whether they run this business or just hired as a staff. If they are just employees, the owner of this place should know that THE OLD WOMAN IS RUDE. We asked more napkins and she shouted no more napkins!! with very rude manner and tones. She thought we were wasting her napkins. I have more episodes with her because Ive been there several times just because I like thai foods. But I think napkin one is enough for what I want to say.I really like a young lady who gets the most of orders though. She is very kind. But I hate the old woman.
Not only is this my favorite Thai restaurant in BCS, it is also one of my favorite restaurants overall. The flavors are on point, the portions are perfect, and the spice level can be specified to meet your liking. Theyll make it mild if spice isnt your thing, or just tell them thai hot and youll have sweat dripping down your forehead - I prefer the latter.
I came with a group of 8 on a slow weekday night. The two women working there informed us that we had to pay on one check, which we were all perfectly fine with, and we said okay. However, they then told us at the we had to sit as two groups of 4 in literally two opposite corners of the restaurant. We were confused why we had to sit in opposite corners since the entire middle row of tables was open, as well as adjacent booths on either side of the restaurant -- there were only 3, maybe 4 booths, occupied at the time -- so we could have very easily sat at one of the two sets of adjacent booths. We asked, if we sit on opposite sides of the restaurant, will each table get a separate check? One woman proceeded to say that although she says we can pay on two checks now if we sit in opposite corners, she could very easily change her mind and just put everything on one check later. The number of checks really didnt matter to us, or even where we sat, but we just ended leaving because we couldnt understand the situation, and more than anything, because of how rude they were. The manner and tone in which they spoke to us wasnt called for as we werent offensive or rude at any time. We really just wanted to try the food here, as wed heard it was amazing, but I probably wouldnt come back given how rude they were without reason. If you have a small group I think this is probably a fine restaurant to eat at, and there arent many Thai options in BCS, but beware if you have a large group.
Excellent food, Kluay Kluay does NOT fail the tastebuds. Certainly vegan/vegetarian friendly, and that is very important. Staff is friendly, though perhaps not very attentive or quick. This is perhaps a problem if youre in a hurry, though Im never trying to quickly get out of Kluay Kluay. Delicious!
Terrible place, they do not inform you on the level of spice, they just ask you . Also, they laugh at you and make jokes about you in their language if they find something really amusing. Apparently customers are amusing to them. The lady at the counter came across as an arrogant woman. Do not opt for Thai spicy there, its just too spicy.
Half decent food, horrible service, never going backThe people running this place are very very rude. I have never experienced such rude behavior from a restaurant server ever in my 10 year stay in the US. We came with a party of 11. Even though we didnt sit together (its a very small place), they made a big fuss about us being a party and would only give us one combined check, which by the way, included 20% gratuity. When i tried to set a high chair for my daughter next to our booth, the younger of two ladies came running and said we couldnt set the high chair there because its on the fire exit route, even though our booth was at the very end of the room and the only people it was blocking was us. The most frustrating thing was, instead of saying it nicely, the lady said, if the fire inspector comes in, hed fine $500. Whod pay that fine, you? Wanted to complaint to the manager about the rude behavior of the waitress and couldnt get a simple apology out of her.Couple of kids in our party was playing with their toy cars as we waited for the food and we were told, this time by the elder of the two ladies (who, later we found out, was the owner/manager), that the kids cant play because itll damage the tables.
Ok, confession, I was a Thai food virgin... The staff was very helpful in every way, patient as I asked endless questions, and amused when I ordered something in medium heat... They were also sympathetic when they brought me extra drinks and a to go box... Everything was exceedingly flavorful, fresh, and fascinating... Heads up, your previous knowledge regarding spicy is irrelevant, I dont care if you are a chili cook off legend, trust me- GO MILD...

2022-05-25This is now one of my favorite restaurants in town! Their food is amazing, and we have never been disappointed. My favorite is the yellow curry, level 1 spiciness. Their portions are HUGE and will last you a few meals for sure.

2022-05-26Its hard to say anything good about this place. The inside is plain and drab. The salad was nothing but iceberg lettuce and a few slivers of carrots. The soup was broth with a few chunks of tofu. Both tasted okay but they were very basic. I got the lunch special - pad kee Mao, it was okay at best. My wife got the pad thai with shrimp and she could barely eat it. The four shrimp and the dish were dry and not very good. Maybe some of their other dishes are better and the price for a lunch is reasonable.

2022-06-14I went to this place a few years ago, and it was amazing. Maybe it was an off night, but the pad Thai was too sweet, the ginger seafood was too plain, the beef salad was ok, the spring rolls were ok, but the fish cakes were good. I was disappointed.

2019-09-01I’ve come lots of times before. I have friends whose go to Thai food is here. The food really if very good! They give good potions. The lunch special you get soup and salad, and an eggroll with the entree. We ordered Green Curry (all ways a must), Panage Curry; one with pork and one with Tofu. One of the waitresses was very sweet and helpful. Another one was a little grumpy. Overall I still recommend! It’s good and authentic.

2022-07-11Its extremely salty, even to me as someone who has lived in Thailand and enjoys savory cuisine. It tasted like someone poured half a cup of table salt or fish sauce into my dish.

2020-12-07Im not sure why this place is rated so high ? The food is .. ok. The options on the menu dont seem very appealing. Sitting in there eating my giant plate of rice with minimal chicken.. idk just seemed so lonely and forgotten in there lmaooo. There are definitely way better places than this . Id chose not to dine in . Very strange atmosphere.
