The best authentic thai place, hands down! The owner is very kind and gets to know her customers. It is a small restaurant with a few tables but absolutely worth the wait if there ever is one. You can also call ahead and pick up your food. I love their panang curry with tofu and spring rolls and of course the thai tea!
We ordered the papaya salad, sesame chicken, pad thai, and the tom yung kung soup. This has to be the worst Thai food we ever had. The spicy sour soup tasted like water mixed with tamarind powder, sesame chicken literally had extremely tiny pieces of chicken..felt like we were eating fried batter only, and the papaya salad and the pad thai are so bland and words cannot described what we were eating. We traveled to a lot of places in Thailand and had awesone Thai food. This restaurant is definitely not Thai food quaility and is very small inside. Will not return here. Don’t be fool by great reviews!
The food wasnt impressive. I got there 35 mins after ordering foods as I was told, and I had to wait another 20 mins in line just picking up foods. They need to improve this system.Pad Thai noodles were mushy and soggy, probably because of the wait.Sesame chicken was way too sweet. Too much sugar in it.
The food has good flavor , portions were a little small , room is a bit to cramped next to others. Service was bit different because of foreigners which is , but not really a bad thing . Just a bit quite and not the most helpful. Overall its a good place to try . Not my top 10 Thai list
Small but the food is fantastic. I have tried about half the menu and have found everything to be great. Make sure you start with the lower great and work your way up. The yellow curry is really good and creamy. Whatever you try is good. If you really want a laugh, all for something without carbs. Like, no noodles, rice, etc. Lak might kick you out.
Take out only, temp check as you enter mask required. It was like there is a pandemic going on. Very respectful and service was fast and attentive to our order. Very quick and fresh made to order. Accurate spicy level.homemade quality food excellent choice and a real surprise find. The shopping center is older and looks like it is being repaired but this little spot is excellent.
The food here is amazing, and reminds me of my mothers cooking! Ive had a tough time finding a good Thai restaurant in the US, let alone Abilene, TX, but this place is the real deal. Everything is fresh and made with care. The food here is the closest youll get to authentic Thai food outside of Thailand itself.
Krua Thai is one of my favorite places in town to eat! The Tom Kha is especially good! One thing to note is that their spice levels are much higher than other places HOWEVER, you can order all but a couple dishes with no spice if you so desire. I say this because they do not offer refunds for food that is too spicy, because they will warn you it can be hot!
Pretty decent Thai food. I ordered the DUI noodles which I think is their take on Pad Kee Mao. It was good, but I wish I would have ordered it much spicier than medium. I didnt find the medium to have much in the way of heat. That was on me though for not clarifying how they do their heat ratings. Serving sizes were big. I was able to get 2 meals out of my order. I liked how they had customers take their temp upon entering the restaurant. I thought the price for the amount and quality of food was good, and it was wrapped really well. It made the 10 minute drive back to my house and was still steaming hot.
I have lived in Austin, TX, Brooklyn, NY and many other places but I truly don’t think I’ve had such flavorful Thai food at a fair price like I’ve had from Krua Thai.I have no idea how they ended up in Abilene, but I always make sure to take some extra home after I visit, because nothing in my area comes close. Their cooking is exceptional.Friendly owner, great staff, I only have good things to say about them.
I have been able to get my dish the way I like and it has been amazing so i didnt mind paying the price for chicken larb light fish sauce because it was so good even though we were only getting 1/4 of a chicken breast per entree but lately they dont make the dish properly and they have raised the prices to $12 for the same 1/4 portion of chicken breast and this was not due to the inflation.
Krua Thai is amazing!! We come here often and have never had a bad experience! From the moment you walk into the door you’re greeted with big smiles & great small talk. The food is always amazing and the spring rolls are my absolute favorite! If you’re in the area definitely stop by and give them a try!!
The owner and staff are wonderful and the food is well worth any wait. I love the vegetarian options, my youngest loves her chicken on a stick (chicken satay) and I love their curries. I always have a hard time deciding which one to get but you honestly cant go wrong! Just make sure you pay attention to the spice levels. Everywhere weve gone my husband orders the spicest available and is still disappointed. That didnt happen here! He sweat through dinner and learned the spicest here is actually pretty spicy!
Best Thai food I have ever eaten within the entire West Texas area, even though there are not many restaurants to compare it with. We visited the zoo and ate here afterwards. I absolutely love curry, and the curry dish I had hit the spot. My spouses dish tasted even better than mine. We ate here with 4 of my children, and they all have different tastes. This restaurant was able to satisfy all of their very picky palates. The portion sizes were larger than many restaurants, and we took a lot of food home to eat later that evening. The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was light and relaxed, and they were able to accommodate us well, which speaks volumes. We had a great experience which is memorable to this day, and enjoyed our time spent together here.
This unassuming little nook is home to the best food in Abilene, Texas. Hands down my favorite restaurant in this small town. I have been religiously dining at Krua Thai for 3 years now and every meal is better than the last. The lovely owners of this restaurant know my face and my order. They treat me like one of their own and always make my experience a great one. The portion sizes are perfect for the price they charge. Sometimes the wait is a little long, but is entirely understandable as they are a popular eatery, and have one chef who lovingly prepares every plate. The food here at Krua is as authentic as it gets, I should know! I’ve had the privilege of visiting Thailand and missed the food! Finding Krua was a HIGE blessing! If you get the opportunity to stop by, you won’t regret it! Just please be patient if they are busy! I promise it is worth the wait!
Easy to find! We had noodle dishes cause thats our favorite Thai dishes and they were perfect, delicious, hot and medium spicy like we requested. Its a small restaurant, I would recommend getting there early, prior to noon, as it seems to fill up quickly. They wont let you sit unless youre whole party is there with you, make sure youre all together. Highly recommend this place, the food is great!
Krua is perhaps my daughters favorite restaurant in Abilene, so she wanted us to eat lunch there when we were recently in town. It is a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but the food is really good. From what my daughter tells me, they have 1 wok, so it takes a while to get your food after you order. They have maybe 8 tables in their tiny dining room, so you might be in for a wait to be seated, as well. You also better not order a dish that is too spicy for you because you will not get a refund, per the sign in the restaurant. If you know all the rules, and expect a wait, you will enjoy the food here.
Oh my goodness is all i can say....my husband and i have never ate here before until tonite....he never likes to try new things soo i convinced him that thai food is amazing and that i have been told that theyre the best in town....soo we decided to share the chicken curry fried rice and some spring rolls.....oh my gosh we are in love.....but we shared the order of spring rolls and the dish...soo tomorrow we will be back and we getting our own dishes.......the food was absolutely amazingly good....the service was awesum....we were treated like family....love it!!! Will be new regulars for sure
This place is in a quiet plaza with limited seats. Old chairs, tables and decorations. The owners and waitresses are polite and nice. The appetizers are good, especially the chicken skewers. The dishes are in considerable size. We ordered fried rice and DUI. Both tasted great but were done in a rush so that a small portion of rice and noodles were balled together.
The best Thai food - actually the best asian food in town. I am never disappointed any time I get food from there and I have never had anythingthat tastes bad. The spring rolls are to die for. The people who work there always do a great job and they are very friendly and personable.
Delicious Thai food! We tried the Panang Chicken Curry and Chicken Pad Thai. The spice level was perfect and the food had so much flavor. We will definitely return, when we’re in town. Noticed there were a lot of return guests that the staff members knew personally which added to the charm of this restaurant. Glad we found it and decided to try it!
Love the food, I eat there alot, and they know what I like and how I like it. Always polite and Lak is a great cook and owner, they love to make small talk and make you feel at home. She does have rules on the tables and guest but for good reason. Love the place and people.
We were just visiting the area and researched best restaurants in Abilene TX. The Krua Thai was listed so I read the reviews. The food was as fantastic as the reviews stated. The food was definitely authentic and freshly made. The prices were reasonable in portion with the quantity of food we received. We did not have to wait long for the food to arrive. When we visit the area again we will definitely come back.
Krua Thai was good. Choose your spice level wisely, they dont bring it weak. Flavor of the food was very good. I would have liked to see a few more vegetables in my dish. Lots of noodles and the meat portion was correct. Price was as expected. It is a very small dining area and you can only be seated when your whole party is present, so plan accordingly. Staff was friendly and service was good; well be back.
Although the space is small, Krua Thai serves up flavorful, fresh dishes with the friendly kindness you will not often get at similar restaurants in bigger cities. My personal favorite meal is spring rolls, green curry, and a Thai tea. I never go wrong with that combo. Highly recommend if you want to venture away from boring, bland food.
The food here is fresh and full of flavor. The staff are so welcoming, always serving customers with a warm smile. Mild spice or intense spice, the chef gets it just right every time. Note: their dining room is cozy - get there early at lunchtime - tables fill up quickly.
First off, I do I want to say that the staff was very nice and welcoming...with that being said I ordered lo Mein and got ramen noodles (literally) with some vegetables throw in. Quite disturbing. I also ordered sweet and sour chicken and huge chunks of pineapples where added which made it very unpleasant. Lastly, the spring rolls weren’t fresh. I do believe In second chances so maybe I’ll give it another try....maybe.
Went here for the second time. The first, about a year ago, was average, but we figured we would try it again. This place is small. I moved my chair to accommodate a larger party that arrived before us and was told I couldnt sit on that side of the table because the waitress didnt want to walk an extra 3 feet. We never ordered and we left. On the way out she exclaimed, I dont want your money anyway!. Dont worry; you will never get it. You should NEVER treat customers this way.... ever. Went over to Anns and had another great meal. Customer service is everything! I will never go here again... and neither should you.
Where do I begin :(I typically never write bad reviews for restaurants, but the food here is simply not good. My husband and I are new to Abilene and we were excited to find out that there was a local Thai place. We have eaten authentic Thai food in New York, Virginia, Florida, DC, and this is by far the worst Thai food we have ever had. We tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, and after our order today (Third time) we will not be returning. The first 2 times we visited the restaurant we ordered the Tom Kha Kai soup and the DUI noodles. The soup was extremely salty and sour as if they compensated flavor for salt, and the DUI noodles were dry and lacked seasoning. We chucked it up as maybe a personal preference difference and decided maybe our taste buds were a bit off. My husband and I enjoy supporting small local businesses and figured we would try our luck at this restaurant one last time. We both decided to order the Pad Thai since that is the most recognized Thai dish. Both orders were completely flavorless and did not taste like a traditional Pad Thai. The only good thing we can mention about this place was that the food was cooked and was prepared quickly. I write this review for anyone who truly enjoys authentic Thai food. If you are looking for flavorful traditional Thai food, this is not the place for you.Pros: The food was hot and the service was very good.Cons: Small serving size, food had 0 flavor
We arrived at 5:30 and were greeted with smiling faces. There was a bit of a wait for the food. But we received the veggie spring rolls first of course, which were delicious. once the entrees arrived we dove into spicy, flavorful authentic Thai bliss. They have an entire menu that is vegetarian/vegan friendly, which we love about them. Very good place. Small and maybe hard to find, but so worth it. Go check them out! 😁
Excellent food; probably the best Thai in town, if not the best Asian food in town, period. One of the best features is being able to choose the heat level. Start at level 1, and work your way up each time you go! Great variety in the menu with lots of options for everyone. Interior isnt the best looking, but who cares when the food is so good? Nice, courteous staff; no complaints there. My sister told me about this place and its always at the top of the list when thinking of where to eat.
Krua Thai never fails to brighten my mood. The staff and owner make sure you feel welcomed, even when they are busy. The food is always fresh, cooked with love and delicious! I make sure to come here at least once a month, and every time I receive five star service. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Thai food, and suggest that even if you have never had Thai before to give this place a try!
The absolute best Thai food around! The owner is from Thailand and goes back about twice a year to get more SUPER SPICY chillies. So good, really sets the flavor appart from other restaurants in the area. Not a particularly expensive place to eat, maybe $8-$10 a plate.Great curries. Nice soups. They have a spring roll appetizer thats really good. Its to the point now where I dont even look at a menu, I just ask for them to choose something for me.And Ive never had a bad dish.5-star food!
Love this place. Friendly staff. They seriously surprised me by knowing me by my Togo order lol. I can highly suggest the spring rolls with lemon sauce and the panang curry chicken!! 😋😋😋 The medium spicy(2☆) is rather spicy so chose wisely. I love how spicy the food is. 👌💥💥If you are ordering to go, it usually takes about 20 to 35 minutes. Some places may be quicker but the wait is definitely worth it. 🤗
My wife and I have been coming here since they opened a few years ago and we’ve witnessed them evolve into an efficient, no-nonsense, great quality food establishment. Anyone who’s frequented the place knows the rules, they are there for a reason. Too many people want to do what they want because they feel they are entitled to do what they want, but that is not the case. The phone is always ringing off the hook, the tickets are lined up, and the food quality never suffers. If you want fast or no rules then go to McDonalds, or any other franchise. Me personally, I’d rather not deal with any pretentious attitudes and entitlements in any of my businesses. Keep doing what your doing Krua, and we will keep supporting you!
Be prepared to wait an hour or more for takeout on a Saturday night. The quality of food wasnt super worth the wait. The phone line was constantly busy, I was unable to place a pickup order. Was told it would be 35 minutes and ended up waiting 1 hour 15 minutes. Would have been fine if they were honest about time so I knew what to expect in a hurry. Otherwise staff was friendly.
Fantastic curry! I appreciate the fact that they will only make it so spicy. They wont go higher than 4 on a scale of 1 to 4 because it would take away from the flavor of the dish. Also, dont expect a fast experience. We have always had to wait a while (sometimes 30 minutes) between ordering and getting food, but IMHO it is wort the wait. I havent had anything I dont like yet, and I honestly cannot remember having better curry, and Ive traveled a LOT.
The restaurant is small and unassuming but dont let that fool you! The food was SO good!! I went here with my entire family and we each got amazing meals and an awesome appetizer. My husband always complains that no where can get his food spicy enough but this place finally did it- He left sweating! You may have to wait for a table and for your food but its worth it!
Great staff, great food. Be warned, there is a wait sometimes due to the place being a bit small, but it is worth it! Best Thai food in abilene. The owner has a frighteningly good memory, and a great sense of humor! Come here, eat some super spicy food and wash it down with a Thai tea.
Special: Thai Basil Fish (Tilapia, stir fried)My last visit was three years ago and it has been difficult to find a stir-fried tilapia that can compete with Krua Thai.Im worried this will be the greatest entreé of my life, but I will just have to plan another road trip. Thank you very much!
Delicious and authentic Thai food. Try the Thai basil fish (they usually use salmon). The noodle dishes are really good too. Dont get too excited with the spiciness level even though you think you can handle it. They have extra chili pepper for you to add to your food but you cant take it back out!Update: Krua Thai officially won me over during the COVID-19 quarantine period. They have hand sanny out and encouraged everyone to refill their bottles. A great local business owned by very kind people!
Love love love this place. Food is fresh and delicious, service has always been great. For a one wok, one chef operation, you might wait a bit for food but its absolutely worth it. I have yet to try the 4-star level spicy, but I will one day, when I muster the courage.
First time going to this new restaurant, was fooled by all the reviews that were given on google. My friends and I all got the Pad Tai and I can’t begin to express how awful it was. It smelled AND tasted like cheap dog food with a mix of fish food. But the staff was nice but I really wished it tasted better or even wish it was edible. Don’t let the good reviews fool you, like it fooled me. $10 bucks down the drain. Going To Vagabond ✌🏼
We were here many times as Thai food is also our favorite dish. In fact were here right now. I ordered panang curry and my wife ordered beef fried rice, we also both got thai iced tea. Yea, this place is small but always full of dining customers. Food is very tasty, the owners are friendly. Well, til next time again.
Authentic!!! Got a Dang Bang, chicken, with medium spicy-ness, it was delicious. It wasnt the biggest portion, but it did fill me up enough. The sauce had a wide range of taste despite it being a simple meal. It isnt the biggest restaurant, so I wouldnt take a family per say. There isnt much elbow room. Nonetheless the place is nice. Well taken care of and clean. I do recommend coming here! Im from Roswell NM, but I definitely would come here regularly. Even learned a couple of words in Thai! The service was great too.
The food is very good and authentic. But I ordered and waited 45 min for a larb salad, which is unacceptable. Need a little hustle back in the kitchen. I worked in fine kitchens half my life, we took pride on preparing the customers order as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Absolutely amazing little hole in the wall restaurant! Seating is very limited, so they require your whole party to be present (or if you know their orders, you can sit and place them all and wait for folks to arrive.) Spice levels are variable and can be tailored to your taste. They do have a lunch menu with smaller portions that do come with a spring roll.
I love this place. Its similar food to the old Bangkok Thai restaurant that used to be in a hotel off south clack, but better. The owner is a sweet lady who has worked very hard for many years to make this business possible and the food is the best Thai Ive ever had anywhere. If you love Thai food, go! If you havent tried it, go! You will love it!
Very small place, lengthy wait time. However not to be denied, the food is excellent and possibly the best food in town in my opinion. The owner is very humble and polite. Overall, the food is worth every dollar. Definitely try the Mango and Sweet rice desert...freaking amazing!!
Authentic & tasty. I ordered a panang curry with medium spice and it was almost too spicy. If you dont regularly indulge in Thai food Id suggest mild (or 1 on a scale of 0 to 4). Not the greatest ambiance as its a small space, but I appreciate the lack of television and quiet music.
The food is by far the best Thai in the big country. The staff is a delight and Tok is very outgoing and friendly. I wish the place was bigger, but then it might not be as good. Just really fantastic.Small but the food is fantastic. I have tried about half the menu and have found everything to be great. Make sure you start with the lower great and work your way up. The yellow curry is really good and creamy. Whatever you try is good. If you really want a laugh, all for something without carbs. Like, no noodles, rice, etc. Lak might kick you out.
I ate at Krua Thai this afternoon with a co-worker and had the Red Curry Chicken lunch special. My co-worker ordered the Panang Curry Chicken lunch special. Both dishes were served with rice and a small spring roll as well as a small portion of vinegar. The entree was served in a bowl. The entree portion was modest, but the taste was fantastic. I ordered my Red Curry to be Thai spicy, which was a great choice. The menu has a variety of Thai and oriental entree options as well as a variety of appetizers and desserts. I will be definitely become a regular customer here, and I will certainly recommend this restaurant to others. Compliments to the chef for a job well done!
Very tasty food. The waitress discouraged me from getting it as hot as I wouldve liked, but they did have extra heat available in several different formats. People who go to a Thai restaurant and complain about the heat should just go eat Chinese and leave the good HOT Thai food for those who love it!
My family of 5 tried to have dinner here, unfortunately they do not have a table for 5 people. We moved a 2 top next to a 4 top so that we could eat comfortably. The place is small but there was only one other table there. We agreed that if they got busy we would gladly give up the table. The manager refused and said we had to eat with 5 chairs at the table. I have never eaten at a restaurant that refused to accommodate seatingfor my family. I guess service to the customer is less important than it once was.
Best Thai food in Abilene. The place is cozy, the food is carefully prepared to the taste of the customer, the service is focused and prompt, and the portion size is well worth the money. It is small so expect a wait during peak dinner times...the meal is well worth the wait.
The only reason I am giving one star is because I can’t give 0. This restaurant has the worst customer service ever. We went and asked for a spoon and the employee angrily handed me a spoon and said “oh I forgot you’re Asian” and when I said her comment made me uncomfortable she argued with me loudly in front of other customers instead of apologizing. The experience was uncomfortable. I’ve been to a lot of Asian restaurants and I’ve never encountered such rudeness and unnecessary comments.
Host was rude tonight! Refused to move 2 small tables together to set 3 and a 2 year old.Owner wouldn’t come out to speak to me about it, sent out some other young lady who wasn’t accommodating at all, she did say they could move a smaller table to a larger one to set six but not 2 smaller ones to seat 4! I suggest dining anywhere but here! Don’t call Jon your order ahead arrive and decide to set down to eat it even if you’re the only other one there because that’s against their rules as well. My new rule is to never eat here again.Your response shows how little you value customers in the first place. Customers like me sounds like you’re faulting me for your unwillingness to accommodate our party of 4.I doubt very seriously you polled your small dining room patroons to get there opinions! You could have at least apologized for your hostess’s abrasive manner and your non English speaking waiter’s inability to even speak to me. I will not recommend you ever again to anyone nor will I ever dine with youagain. You ma’am are a poor example of good quality service in a service business.
This is my favorite restaurant in town. I am currently working my way through the menu; everything is good! There is sometimes a wait but only because their food is so good and everyone knows it. The owner is awesome and says hi every time we come in. This a great place with great people.
Definitely a very small hole-in-the-wall and expect to wait for your food at least 30 minutes. I ordered pad woon sen and it came with a side of rice. This dish is stir fry glass noodles with meat and vegetables. The food was bland and soupy, the rice was mushy. If this is the best in Abilene then I would recommend you head to Panda Express.
The food is good, but the service is horrible!! We went in with my family of 4, and there were two available small tables. We tried pushing them together so we could all sit, and the waiteress came out yelling at us that we couldn’t do that in a very rude tone. We were very embarrassed . We think that if you’re the owner of the restaurant, you should never treat your customers like that. We will never be back.
Place is good but I went there this Saturday at opening only see the whole staff roll up 5 min before opening. Pretty poor planning and there was a line of customers waiting several minutes while they readied the dinning room. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like they should be ready to open the doors at advertised opening time. Regardless, the food is the bomb dot com.
The best Thai food in Abilene. Really love the curries (Ive tried them all). Pad See Ew noodles Thai Hot is wonderful! Havent had a bad meal there ever. Staff is friendly and courteous. The person who gave the low rating is, in my opinion, one of those spoiled people who wants everything their way and perfect or look out. The one rare time a mistake was made on my order, the staff went out of their way to make it right. You just cant go wrong eating at Krua Thai!
Incredible food!!. And amazing staff ! On my first visit a month ago I was over charged and didnt realize it. When I came back ( because it was SO good & I was back in town ) she remembered me and gave me a refund. I was clueless that I was over charged and she easily could have kept the money. Definitely restored me faith in humanity!
Just got into town from Dallas and thougt I would try this place out because of the good reviews. Glad I did. I cant speak for most of the food, but the Panang Curry was some of the best curry I have ever had. The restaurant is very small, so you may have to wait a bit for a table
I came to this restaurant for the first time not expecting much, and I was not disappointed. The wait was a bit long but its understandable as the place is small and there are a lot of people. I absolutely loved the krua Thai fried rice, and the server was friendly and funny too. Its a shame that I dont live in abilene because Ill have to miss out on more amazing meals.
Krua is nice little restaurant that sits in a strip mall. The service is always quick, excellent and precise. The food is a mixture of Thai and other Asian cultures, but all of it tastes very Thai. There is limited seating, and the restaurant is a little cramped (so, dont go here for atmosphere). Mid afternoon is the best time to go, in my opinion, to make sure you get a seat and dont feel like everyone is listening to your conversation.
The location of this place is in a sorta old dilapidated strip mall but the food is delicious. The hosts are charming. We had spring rolls, penang curry and pad thai. Penang curry was the best. Pad thai was and spring rolls were just ok probably good considering its Abilene.
Krua Thai is such a gem for Abilene. Everything Ive tried is so good. The pad Thai, Thai bbq chicken, and curry are outstanding. But tonight, I ordered my curry without potatoes and I wanted a side of steamed veggies. The cook came out to ask if I wanted the veggies in my curry (which I did) and told me the side is $2.50 whereas doing a chicken and vegetable curry combo would only be $2. And, since I didnt want potato, if I wanted another vegatblez the substitution would be free. You cant find many restaurants with that kind of customer service that has food this good.
The rapidly expanding Heffs Burger chain with hefty beef and fantastic fries just keeps amazing me. They are now expanding internationally but the originator of Heff family restaurant insists all sites have the same high quality food and friendly customer service But you might just want to add a little lively side if music.

Before PCSing out of Abilene I used to order masaman curry with extra chicken many times... Only after I left I realized how good it is. Im currently in Florida and the masaman here is no where as good. I mean not even in the same ball park. One is like a 5 star and another is like a damn no star! If u r in Dyess try this place. Try the masaman curry! U wont regret it!! Btw ask for spice on the side. If u order hot or mild it might be too much for some people...

2022-03-31I had the DUI noodles( Pad Kee Mao). Which was very tasty! I tried the 3 star spice level, it was a good spice level if you like spicy food, but not too spicy. The staff were very friendly and I had a great experience! I would definitely recommend if your in Abilene!

2022-06-23Food was good. Small place in a strip mall. Had the Tom Yum Fried Rice with Chicken. Spicy. Was expecting more veggies with it as most Thai places do.

2021-12-06Apparently no spice translates to no sauce or flavor at all because our dish we ordered for young children with the “no spice” option had no sauce at all and consisted of just noodles and oil. The dish we ordered as “mild” did have sauce and was decent so not sure if they just don’t have non-spicy sauce and make that dish awful-tasting, or if they forgot. Restaurant was also chaotic with the woman screaming at everyone there so maybe was just a hectic time for them and they forgot. Either way, we would have been grateful for a refund or remake on just that dish as we had to throw it out.

2021-02-16When it comes to Thai food, I love it all. But Krua Thai in Abilene is one of those places that truly stands out above the rest. The owner is the cook and she loves to serve great food. She even makes annual trips back to her home village in Thailand to bring back herbs and spices grown by her family. She uses these spices in her restaurant cooking and they do make a difference. This is one of the things that set this Thai place apart. The one thing you should know is that Tita (the owner) does not dull down her cooking to accommodate the sensitive Texas palate. She ranks her spicy level an a scale of 1 to 4, with four being the SURFACE OF THE SUN! As a lover of hot peppers, I can say I have never eaten at another Thai restaurant that can even come close to the heat level in Krua Thais level four. I usually get a level three and it is right at the border of what I would say is the point at which pepper heat turns form delicious spice to delicious pain. That is the perfect level for me. I know some people that love the level four, but most normal people stop at level two. One of the key questions to ask the cook is, What village di the peppers she is using that day come from, her mothers village or hers. The peppers from he mothers village are much hotter than the peppers grown in her own village. My favorites here are her curry chicken fried rice and her beef noodle soup. Level 3, of course!

2022-06-13I have been gone from Abilene for awhile and living in Washington where there is amazing Thai food. I couldn’t remember if krua Thai was good. I recently had the panang curry. I am so happy to say it was very good! I will be back!

2022-04-03Thai tea has no milk & fried rice has very little salt. They did not give us soy sauce when you ask for one & she asked if I need spoon for the rice. Yes I need the spoon, you want me to eat with my hands?

2020-01-24Always great food and excellent staff! One of the best restaurants in Abilene. You can order food from zero spice to the hottest. (5 maybe) she adds enough coconut flavoring to the food that it brings the spice down that she orders special from Thailand her home country. If youre in a hurry. I suggest you get there early enough like 11 30 to get a table its hard to get seating. This restaurant is high in demand and dont show up without your entire party because you will not get a table until everyone is there but dont panic people are courteous enough to eat and leave so that everyone can sit. If your impatient dont bother going there but I highly recommend eating here and just make sure you have enough time so that you can enjoy your dining experience. Excellent food!!!

2019-08-14Flavor, spice, and love. These are the ingredients that go into every dish at Krua Thai, just how much spice is up to you! They dont add a dish to their menu unless theyre going to do it justice. This is the kind of restaurant that I not only enjoy, but have a deep respect for.
