LA Fitness in other cities:
Do not recommend. Do yourself a favor and pick another gym. Rigid corporate policies lead to a customer service team that is either unable or unwilling to help. Signing up comes with a hefty fee and trying to cancel is near impossible. In fact, it seems to be purposefully difficult to ensure that you cannot get that fee refunded.
I guess there’s no cleaning staff for weekends? Just joined - came Friday afternoon and it was pretty messy; came back Saturday afternoon and it was the same trash around. Mens restrooms are particularly dirty. They could do a much better job at maintaining the facilities
I had to block several employees from texting and calling me. Cancelling my membership was a nightmare and Im still disputing monthly charges after having to send a letter to request cancelation (which is ridiculous and predatory in itself). Do not give these people your money!
During the beginning of the pandemic the gym shut down. After reopening the gym began to charge me again. I called and informed the team that I was pregnant and did not feel safe coming into the gym. They informed me if I wanted to cancel I would need to come into the gym... when the reason I was cancelling was because I did not feel safe. The utter lack concern for my health and safety had me shocked. I was told there was nothing they could do. I called corporate and was told the same. This is no way to treat people. If your business model is making it difficult to cancel something people do not want to use, that is very shady. I am finally going in to have my membership cancelled after receiving my booster and recovering from giving birth. I cannot express how disappointed I am that they continued charging me hundreds of dollars.
Went today with my friend with a free gym pass for the first visit, when we first arrived the receptionist told us that she was going to kept our ID’s so we could see the sales person before we left. We workout out and thought they had a lot of machines and stuff but not everything that we usually use (missing accessories) and also, they didn’t have cleaning stations throughout the whole gym, we only saw one when we were leaving. I went to the desk and asked the lady for my ID, she said I had to see the sales person and I went to him. His first sentence was: are you going to sign up? No “hello, my name is bla bla, how was your workout, these are the plans that we have what’s your name” nothing that a decent person would do, and specifically if you are train to sell something you know that you have to connect with customers and at least be polite to them. I told him I didn’t like the gym and the reason why and he said “well you got your free day” or something like that, I just turned around and left.Very unprofessional staff!!!! Not even if I had liked the gym I was going to sign up with this kind of service
I used to have this gym for years, the new project manager is extremely rude now along with their new staff this place is an apple turn over or high rate turn-over for employees they are racist towards people of color. Only minorities staff that work there are holding a map or broom in their hands, lol. On top that they wanna charge me $20 for a one --day pass just used their restroom and the membership is $34.99 they not even 24 hours. Black men stay away from this gym unless you wanna encounter racism and rudeness.
Terrible service. Went in today to use a guest pass, and the employees were unprofessional, showed attitude and were passive aggressive. Asked if I could use the gym with the pass, they said they there’s a $15 charge for a guest pass? Then when my gym member friend asked if he could check me in as a guest, the employee said I’m “not interested in a membership, and can’t check you in.” Then they said the member can only check into a single gym, doesn’t have multi gym pass. Well, first of all, of course I’m not signing a membership right now? I don’t even know what the facilities are like and maybe I would happily sign it if, say, the service was smooth and amicable and the facilities were great. Isn’t that the point of a guest pass?? To leave guests with a great impression of a facility so they sign a membership? The member left after they were told they need to pay a $5 fee for using a gym at a different location on top of the $50 they already pay for the gym.Okay, the members and guests may or may not fully understand the membership benefits. I was under the impression it was the employees job to make sure members and guests understand the benefits and have a great experience each visit so they can sign more potential members. Clearly, these employees do not know how to do that nor do they care enough to take care of guests. If they’re gonna act all high and mighty as if their job responsibilities are beneath them, maybe quit and look for another job? Definitely not signing up for a membership and will let my friends who do go there know to sign with better gyms with better employees who know how to treat customers with respect and kindness.****DO NOT SIGN A MEMBERSHIP AT THIS LOCATION, EMPLOYEES ARE UNPROFESSIONAL****Perhaps you’ll have a better experience at another local gym or fitness connection.
I am disabled and 60 years old, i signed up March 4th thru united healthcareAARP renewed fitness plan. I asked for tag and membership card for entry i was told you dont need it get the app I DID still request a bar codeasked again told you dont need it this is BS WHAT DO I NEED TO DO GET THE DOCUMENTS AND CARD prove im member! i need an answer and was constantly harrassed by TIM for up sell personal training by text messaging advise cant do im on SSDI
Closest la fitness to my new residents in austin texas. Their staff is quite friendly especially Bruno. Wish they would add a few boxing bags into the studio room like they have in Orlando Florida. Sauna is nice and hot and I love swimming there and playing racquetball without having to reserve a space!
They ripped off my wife. She had a free membership thru Silver Sneakers. They talked her into a trainer. She said -- fine. They tried to get her to signed up for an advanced trainer. Since she was new to a gym, she said no. The trainers then kept no-showing for appointments, without notice. She would arrange her business to go to the gym, arrive, and find out about the no show. She kept complaining to the manager. He promised better, but kept trying to persuade her to sign up for advanced. Finally, after they missed a month in a row, she asked for a refund. they refused. When she sued them, they did not refund her money. Instead, an assistant manager shed never seen lied under oath, claiming that her trainer had always been available. DONT SIGN UP FOR A TRAINER!! especially when no shows are so frequent that their form contract has a provision to cover what happens when a trainer is a no-show.
Love this locations. Extremely clean facility, staff are very helpful. The energy in this gym is amazing! Richard is easily one of the most helpful person I’ve encountered there’s since joining LA Fitness! Request Richard for any assistance you need, he will get the job done!
Very great service! I love LA Fitness gyms a ton and this location is superb in their service from keeping the facilities clean to providing a good amount of equipment. The only issue I have is the few amount of free-weight squat racks they have. The gym only has two, so on busy nights it is nearly impossible to find an open one.
A friend referred us to LA fitness which gave us 7 day pass. On the 5th day, they denied entry and told us “we only do 5 day pass” which is in contradiction to whats available online and what we were told when we signed up.The manager was very HOSTILE & RUDE and asked us “why do you keep coming back?” like if we were pest.Rather pay more at a locally owned gym than come here.
Equipment is nice, but the place is WAY OVER CAPACITY!! If you want to get a real feel for the crowds here, show up between 5:30-6:00 on a Monday or Tuesday afternoon. Its absurd. Also, theres no designated place for deadlifts, or rubberized weights... And theres only 3 racks for squats!! 🤬🤬
Friend of mine signed up here after I referred them to LA Fitness. She bought memberships for her entire family and was told her youngest son was old enough to work with her and there wouldn’t be any problems by the person who signed her up. Well that was a lie, her son was able to work out one day but the next time they tried to visit the lady gave a different age than what was originally explained. These people will do anything to get you to sign up, but since no one is on the same page some people will bend the rules while others won’t apparently. Just be sure to read everything in detail because they’ll lie to you to your face with no remorse.
This gym is what youd find in your standard LA Fitness. My only qualms with this place is how busy it is- its very difficult to find a bench or use equipment without waiting. Secondly, two of the janitorial staff (womens) regularly sit in the locker room/dressing area and use their phones or eat. Im glad these ladies get a break, but having them watch me while I change makes me extremely uncomfortable. Especially if their phones are out...For some people going to the gym is vulnerable enough without two women watching you change. Please get these ladies a break room area! I respect them and their work but its just too weird for me.
If I could rate it zero star or a negative value I would.LA Fitness it self is not bad. What is TERRIBLE is their Personal Training Program. DONT FALL ON THAT TRAP! They dont let you go away. You are stuck in a contract, regardless the reasons you have to not show up. I signed up pre-pandemic. I decided to cancel due to Pandemic mid-last year and still today Im struggling to cancel the membership.Timothy (Tim) is the manager for the personal training. He didnt ever look me in the eyes and just said You have a contract, you stay or buy out.TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE!
A very nice and clean gym. The gym has plenty of free weights and cardio equipment for a large amount of people. The equipment is very well taken care of. This is a good gym for people with both novice and advanced fitness levels.Currently the city/state has a mandatory mask rule, which is enforced at this gym. The masks make it hard to workout efficiently, but that is not the fault of the gym.
I’ve been a member here since October 2020 and it’s been a great experience so far. Kylie has always been very welcoming and kind when arriving and departing the gym, and has always been helpful for any question I had. There is always staff cleaning and picking up throughout the day, as I have been there at different times.
TL:DR: First review, loved the place. Latest review, was signed up with the wrong membership and it took TWO MONTHS for them to let us know...UPDATE: Two months after signing up for LA Fitness (previously being Esporta members), we were told our membership wasnt valid. Apparently Bruno at LA Fitness had signed us up with another Esporta membership and NOT an LA Fitness membership like we had asked. Very unprofessional and I wish that he had spoken to a manager to confirm all the questions that I had asked him. What a bummer...Old Review: Recently moved to Austin from Baton Rouge where we had an Esporta membership. My fiance and I called MULTIPLE times to see if the Esporta membership would work for LA Fitness and were basically told no, then maybe, then no again. We decided to just go to the facility to check it out ourselves and Bruno helped us out. He was the bomb, he basically said of course the Esporta membership should transfer to LA Fitness. He didnt try to upsell us or be a slimy salesman about it, he was genuine and legit and just a real pleasure to work with. It took us literally 2 minutes to get our membership transferred. Bruno you rock! The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because this location is a bit cramped and small compared to the Esporta that we came from, but all in all a great gym.
For a traditional gym I am surprised and am getting really good results. I’ve usually been used to band resistance work and HIT. At LA fitness we have a great trainer, I’m building strength, and I love the racketball and basketball courts for alternative cardio. I’m getting a sauna at least once a week so it’s very good value and I’m enjoying taking my partners teenage son.
Many companies/businesses are at the mercy of these reviews and for every good review there are 10 bad ones because people like to whine. Keep that in mind. I joined this gym about 2 months ago. Its an excellent deal for the price. Im paying around a dollar a day to work out in a new facility. During peak times, I dont have to wait to use equipment. Bathrooms are clean and the staff is friendly enough. I like it! The music is bearable. I dont bring headphones because I like to get the workout done and move on with my day. I notice that many of the people with headphones spend considerable time playing with their phones while I am busting out reps! Great gym---good job guys/galsMatt
Its a good gym, I play alot of basketball here and the people are very nice, does suck that it is not a full size court but four on four is always fun. Only con is I wished they did better with cleaning. Place can get dirty really fast.Edit: Nothing has changed still the same ole LA Fitness.
Dont recommend this job especially the personal trainers. They work with you for only 30 min and the workouts arent that beneficial than I already knew. Also way over priced and dont work with you. And the end of the day they dont care about you or your health only the money
Today I went to LA Fitness for the first time ever. Richard Day helped me out at the front desk and he was so friendly and welcoming. What a great way to start off my workout! The gym was amazing, especially the blown-up photos of people exercising. How inspirational. But it was Mr. Day who made my first visit to LA Fitness so great. I highly reccomend.
Hey Names Bentley and I’m from Fl, this LA Fitness location is the most by far the most interacting, clean, supportive club here in Austin TX. They honestly are very good with communicating and the place is massive with everything that you can possibly thinkOf. I can see myself growing mentally and physically when stepping in here to train, thank you Richard and the rest of your front desk staff.
I transferred my LA Fitness membership to this location for a few months after moving from out of state. This location was not as nice as the one I was used to, and also pretty small. It is a very busy gym during the evenings, which is to be expected I suppose. Parking can be tough during these times. Staff seems to keep it relatively clean except a few times trash cans were overflowing. I decided to move on to a different gym for a few reasons, mostly because this location is not very convenient to my home. Also, the air conditioning in this location is not very good. It is ALWAYS super humid in this gym, even when its not particularly warm outside; maybe because of the pool? The equipment is pretty outdated for a LA Fitness in my opinion. Ive been to 6 different locations and this was some of the oldest equipment Ive seen. I wish they had more squat racks, also. They have just one squat rack and one power rack, and only one smith machine also. There are lots of cardio machines and it seems like broken machines are repaired quickly at this location. Employees are a mixed bag, as usual at most gyms. A lot of inconsistent information about removing/cancelling accounts from different employees. Generally friendly people who greet you. I was recently in to cancel my membership and the new manger was very friendly and took the time to ask why I was leaving and to get to know me even though I was cancelling. If you live nearby, this could be a great gym for you, but if not you may be better off elsewhere depending on what you expect from your gym. :)
Parking lot has tight spots, truck was right on the lines. some lady Yelled at me cause she parked on the line and blamed me for parking to close to her. the gym only had water fountains and didnt have a bottle refill station. thanks Nick for helping me out with my questions. overall great, but could defiantly use a bottle refill station.
They dont care about long-time loyal members, its all about getting your money to them. Ive been with LA for 3 years and 8 months, but in the last 3 months Ive renewed my debit card and have not been back to the gym since the summer because of my new schedule.Last week I spoke to Aaron (the general manager) there, and he pretty much told me there was nothing he could do for me, and I would have to sign up like a new member regardless of how long Ive been with them. This made me feel like I wasnt worth their time. If youre looking for a gym that values their members please do yourself a favor and look for another gym.
I have been going here for just a little over a year. In my opinion I think this gym is great. I have never complained about anything wrong here.Cleanliness: since i have been coming here I see the Janitorial staff always cleaning the machines and the locker rooms and restrooms. Sometimes you do see the trashcans full but I dont see it as often. I have no complaintsService: I think that that staff is very friendly and always greet me when i come in and when I leave as well. I also think they are very helpfull with what ever you may need.Machine usage: Since I have been coming here i have never had to wait for a machine to be unused. Some people can be very religious in what order they should do their workout but me if i see a machine that is being used then I move on to another and come back to it later. By that time usually its open for me to use.Final thoughts: I think this is a great gym and the hours are great for me. I dont like to go to the gym at night because by that time I am too tired to do anything so I usually go right after work or late morning on the weekends. I gave it 5 stars because in my opinion it is worth that much.
Probably the worst gym I’ve been a member of, but it’s location is convenient to me so I’ll keep coming back. Hours are WAY too short on the weekend. People like to work out after 6pm!! Staff can be rude and often you’ll show up to a group class and there is no instructor. Pros? it’s clean, members are diverse in age/fitness levels and generally polite. It’s just kinda a blah gym. No personality whatsoever.
I checking out LA fitness in search of a new gym. Equipment was decent but the customer service here is god awful. Right off the bat, the people working didnt bother offering me a tour which honestly wasnt that big of a deal. But the time after that when I came in to use the last day of my free pass the guy at the front desk asked me if I was wanting to talk about membership options. I had told him that I had to think about it and his response was Well youve had the last couple of days to think about it. Its a free pass for a reason, a membership is a commitment, you should be able to think about it without pressure from staff. I get it, its a sales job but the way they conduct business is so unprofessional that I wouldnt dream of giving my business to this location. After my pass expired, Bruno reached out to me and when I accidentally called him Bruce and told him I wasnt moving forward with a membership, his responded with My name is Bruno, not Bruce lol Im not your friend. Im a potential prospect. If this location wants more people to sign to their gym, they need to work on some things because the experience I had here was very off-putting.
Very dirty restroom and locker room.Very inconvenient weekend business hours. When they started it was a very nice place but after few months I got very disappointed about it.Doesnt matter how many times you talk to the management, everything is still the same. They have everything to be one of the best Gym in that area, but seems like they dont care.
So I came in yesterday to get a guest pass to try out the gym. I wake up at 5am to get to the 5:45am spin class to find out that the membership person didn’t give me my pass correctly. I never got an email of the pass. The front desk person says I can come back that evening to speak to him again to get my pass. If I’m at the gym at 5:30am do I look like I have time for that? They let me in anyways, and I sit in the cycle class for 20 min before I realize, this lady (Keely) isn’t going to show up. The whole time the other ladies were talking about how she is always late and 3 Women left the class. I go and get on the other cardio equipment and Keely doesn’t show up for the class until 6:15am!!!! I have to leave at 6:30 for work. I am only looking to join for the spin classes so it looks like I’m going to have to find somewhere else. I worked at a corporate gym for 3 years and it was so much more well managed than this place. Good management is everything.
The swimming pool is VERY CLEAN. Every time that I have been at the gym/pool the pool cleaners have come- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The LA staff is always cleaning the windows, machines, and the locker room area. The steam cleaner is always being used. The price of membership is very reasonable. The staff behind the reception area always greets people coming in. LA is very professional and knowledgeable. Best bang for your buck in a gym.
Ive been going to this location for over a year now and its been a great experience. The people who work there are friendly and the crowd is nice. I can go in and do my thing and not have to wait long to use any machines. The only reason I give it 4 stars are the hours. I know some locations stay open an extra hour longer but no big. All in all a nice gym for everyone!
Nice gym that is well maintained. Generally not too busy when I go at 9:00 AM. Friendly staff. Been a member here and redoing my review now as it seems in the last yearvor so it is taking them a lot longer to fix either a hot tub , pool or sauna problem when it happens . My initial post was for 5 stars however I am now changing it to 2 because of the delays in getting those three problems fixed in a timely manner. Maybe we a s members ought to get together and hire an attorney and take them to court so we can be compensated for the long repair waits. I like the gym and the Employees but I expect the whole package. I mean if you go to a restaurant and order steak and eggs and they only bring eggs, uh then ?. Update: lowering my rating to one star now as the sauna has been down and not working for three weeks. Like I said they are very slow at fixing things at this location no matter if its the sauna or replacing the pads on the workout machines when they get old torn and cracked. I might need to start searching for another gym. This one was declined since its inception!. Bathrooms really need to be moved and cleaned more often and also out of toilet paper often.
This is the worst LA Ive been to yet. There is always something wrong with LA clubs though. These people havent fixed the mens sauna for nearly a month. Also there are multiple lockers with locks on them and signs on them that say please remove your goods. These signs look like they have been there for months. Management is very very poor at this location.
I was really excited about the gym, an incredible atmosphere and friendly staffs...or that’s what I thought. I always go to the gym with my 14 old month daughter and I had trusted the child care area of the gym since I started. Nonetheless, last Saturday they had a new girl in the childcare and that same day I was stolen by coincidence. I had the mistake of leaving my wallet in my diaper bag, but since I trusted them I thought it wouldn’t be a problem. When I was leaving the gym in the parking area, I opened my wallet. For surprise 290 were gone and I only had left $40. After I noticed what happened I went to talk to the new girl. She told me that it could have been two toddlers brothers, but how two toddlers will leave me with $40 and take the other $250 and leave everything close again And she didn’t see anything when the diaper bag was next to her computer.I didn’t believe it!Then, I talked to Loretta who is the person in charge the gym and she didn’t give me a solution, she wasn’t nice or friendly either.I had no choice but to leave the gym, I can’t trust my daughter with this new girl taking care of her and they didn’t care about what happened to me. I feel so disappointed of this gym.
I joined on the Silver Sneakers program, so no hassles about fees (getting older has to have SOME benefit). I go mid-morning on weekdays, the place is clean, equipment in order. Mens lockers are clean & spacious (no butt bumping). Very professional but without the uber-hype motivational posters seen at Golds. Had a question about one of the machines, staff was available & helpful but not pushy. Definitely prefer this over the Y or Golds.
Not my home LA Fitness but I usually work out here in the morning before work. Gym is nice, its always packed and hard to find parking. Restrooms (at least the mens restroom) are atrocious. Never have any toilet seat protectors, frequently dont have hand soap, occasionally run out of toilet paper, and soap dispensers in the shower are frequently empty or filled with a water/soap mixture that is more water than soap.Overall a solid gym. The locker room and showers are generally clean but as stated above the restrooms could use some extra love.
The sales staff are incompetent and lack integrity. They will lie to get a sale. For example, I was told LA Fitness will buy out other gyms in the area, therefore I shouldnt be signing up with that gym. That was a lie. I was told my renewal price will decrease every year I am a member, till the 5-year mark, and that price will be locked in for as long as I am a member (~$10+). That was also a lie. Some people value good customer service with competency and integrity. If you are one of those people, I would stay away from this gym.
Place is always dirty. Sauna is always broken. Mens bathrooms seem to constantly be out of soap, toilet paper, etc. There is a broken shower that has been wasting water for 9 days straight and they still have not fixed it, even though the front desk has been noticed every day since. I have now reported it to the city. Cant wait for my contract to be over in a couple of months.
I tried to sign up using the silver sneakers program discount, and the salesman knew nothing about it, but pretended he did. He then pressured me into a high price plan, that had nothing to do with silver sneakers. I think he knew this, didnt care. I realized what he had done and canceled my membership the next day. Just the worst customer service Ive ever had at a gym. Not recommended.
Small compared to the LA fitness gyms I’ve been going to. Hot, like their A/C is not working. Not safe knowing Covid is having another rise. Heat causes bacteria to multiply. Put the dang A/C on and circulate the air. Not make everything hot and stuffy.Zumba Wednesday night at 7pm was a joke. Left midway. Not high energy and I wasn’t even breaking a sweat the first 4 songs. Movement and beats were like elementary school. Ended up doing my own cardio.
After reading the reviews I was prepared for some filthy place when I took my tour. After being a member and going a few times I am just not sure what place they are looking at. You can tell this is a newer facility and the locker rooms, weight area, etc all seem very clean to me.They have a very large weight area and during peak times have had no problem getting in what I want and they have a large number of things I will use every now and then like the ladder/box jumps. If something changes Ill update my review but the negatives people have listed just dont seem to be there
Billing nightmares.I signed up for personal training and to be a member. Despite completing six months of personal training, despite me having talked to the manager six different times I continue to get billed $300 a month and they refused to reverse the charge.you can only cancel in person, if the manager is not available because hes on break, doing personal training, whatever, you cannot cancel. They make it almost impossible to cancel.I ended up having to do a chargeback with my credit card and how to block them from my credit card. They make no attempt to make any errors right. Terrible company
Cannot cancel membership with one mentor named Timothy Ellis, !!!!!Please be very carfuly to go the Personal training, they will give higher price about $190/month, and you have go google to search the la fitness line to cancel the membership, and be very carefully for the personal training exercise, they will push you so slow and once you pay the money, it is another story............
This is a great facility as it is brand new, and the staff are friendly. I signed up with Rob and a month later he still remembered my name and was happy to answer all my questions even after the contract was signed, something that other gyms have not always been as good about. Their is a wide variety of equipment to suit whatver fitness goals you might have and it seems to be well maintained and kept clean.
Its not bad - not too many amenities; just your run of the mill gym. Usually plenty is machines available, though I try not to go during high traffic hours. I dont find it overly clean so personally wouldnt venture into areas like the pool or sauna, though they seem to be fine. The interior of the gym seems to be clean but perhaps not deep cleaned often enough (the mat areas, for example). They have a strange watery-soapy mixture to squirt onto paper towels for wiping down mats and machines, but it definitely isnt straight up sanitizer, and there are no wipes available. They have a smaller selection of group classes; Im typically interested in going to yoga or Pilates, and I enjoy their yoga classes. All of the teachers have been very nice, and well educated.Although the staff are nice, I have had many frustrations with the LAFitness App as well as billing. I have never had these issues resolved, despite spending a lot of time with various staff members trying to get it sorted out.
It took forever for this place to open after I signed up, but most of that can be attributed to the city, as it currently takes months to get inspectors to show up. That said, this gym has turned out to be pretty good since they opened about 4 months ago. Nice facilities. Nice equipment. Nobody ever bothers me. All good. Bring headphones as they usually play the typical annoying diva house music. My one gripe is that I paid $50 to join a basketball league about 3 months ago and that has yet to materialize.
Facilities are well kept, only a couple squat racks though. My main complaint is that the hours of operation are really really inconvenient. I got a little finessed into a membership without double checking the hours, so thats on me, but this location closes an hour earlier than other locations on certain days, and the hours at LA Fitness are already really restricted.
I have no idea what the bad reviews were about. I was hesitant to visit this place because of them, but checked it out anyway because its closer to where I live. The facilities are spotless. They have a huge range of equipment and even multiples of most machines so theres rarely a wait. Easily my favorite gym
According to the International Fitness Association, gyms should keep their average temperature between 65 and 68 F. Today it was 73 at free weight territory. I almost fainted and ought to finish my training only after 32 minutes in a gym. Thats not fair!! I spoke with a manager several times about the temperature and every time he said that they have a problem but will fix it soon. I have a so hard headache now because of the stuffy there. This makes no sense! It is so disappointing.
I really like this gym the only thing I dont like about it is the girls showers. They are dirty and they have no cold water only hot water :(. I think they should hire more custodial people one person cant do all the cleaning. Oh and another thing the people in the front should at least try to fake a smile since theyre the first ones we see. A little have a good work out, have a good night wouldnt hurt. Sheesh.
Ill preface this by saying that Im not a gym person, or someone who works out regularly. That being said Austin at the Anderson location is a phenomenal trainer, he really does a great job of helping you make your workout as efficient as possible. Hes also happy to go at the pace that makes sense for you, but with encouragement that you push yourself further. Thanks Austin!
I joined over a year ago with my wife and kids. We really like the child care (but wished it was available on Sunday’s too). I enjoy playing basketball and my wife really likes the cardio machines. Best part of the gym is the included yoga classes lead by Daniel Artman. He is a top notch instructor that you would expect to find at a yoga only studio. We try not to miss his Saturday morning class!
In the 6 months its been open...The courts were closed for repairs, the sauna was closed for repairs for weeks, the water heaters have been broken going into the 3rd week now, the pool railing was broken and repaired... all of this in a new facility.Little or no explanation, apology is given to customers and they display very little interest at all customer satisfaction. Ive had a couple pleasant interactions with employees, but overall the whole experience has been frustrating.
Ive noticed a lot of bad reputation here at the GYM. Because there is not well-trained general manager, staffs dont know how to treat the customer better. My experience was severely hard to get the 5 day pass that you could get it and print it out in a min from their website. but you want to try to get from either manager or salesman.. Please Dont do it. They bug you every min over the phone.Dont leave any stuff on your locker. it is not because gym is not liable to any stuff in the locker but because they easily can cut your lock without your permission. thats why I didnt go there. I wish I can give no score for them. but I cant post if I dont give at least one star.
Been going to LA Fitness for years. This is my favorite location mainly because of the yoga instructor Daniel. He is awesome and I really enjoy his class. Ive been doing yoga for years too and I love the way he always starts and ends class with an encouraging quote to live by. Glad I found an awesome yoga instructor!
Was really excited to sign up at LA fitness but had a horrible experience with Victor, the employee who gave me the tour. He was very pushy to get me to sign up in that exact moment and then tried to guilt me into signing up by saying it was his livelihood and how he put so much effort in by giving a 5 min tour. Still debating if joining is worth it if it means dealing with that every time I go to work out.
The difficult part about LA Fitness was getting past the employees, one of whom wanted to put me in a training program appropriate for a high school football player who didnt make the grade for the Longhorns. My approach to physical fitness might be so casual that its invisible to the steroidal chap who put me through his paces, but I survived his hard sell for a personal trainer, and I was cut loose on the spa-like, remarkably clean, and comfortable facilities of LA Fitness. A host of machines stand ready to challenge any muscle I care to flex, and any given series of machines will flex every muscle. There are free weights and machine weights, treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and rowing machines. A major selling point for me was the pool because I can work my muscles and be contemplative all at once. I dont know if it does anything for fitness, but I love the sauna with its dry heat and smell of baking redwood as a treat for climbing whatever hill I set before myself that day.
Went in to price the racquetball courts. That question could have been answered in about 3 minutes (the answer was $30 for single location + $20 for guest access + $5 for the ability to reserve courts). Unfortunately, in typical gym fashion, the sales guy kept me there for around 30 minutes, trying different pressure tactics to get me to sign up, even after I started the conversation with, I am not going to be signing up today, and reinforced that several times. I didnt walk out because it was actually humorous watching the a-type workout warrior I was talking to spin his wheels.Thats where the fun really started. In the last 3 weeks since I visited, I have received 8 phone calls, including 4 since I asked them to not call me anymore. I was actually considering joining up since it was the nearest racquetball court and had what seemed like decent lanes to swim on. But not anymore. Lost my business with the 6th call, triggered reviews on the 8th. The 9th will see me start a harassment suit.Teach me to give out my phone number to a gym. Dont support these guys, dont support the money-grabbing nature of LA Fitnesss fee schedule.
Having an awesome time at the LA Fitness Austin. If youre looking for a welcoming atmosphere and state-of-the-art Equipment look no further than LA Fitness Austin, LA Fitness provides a spacious positive atmosphere with everything necessary to take your Fitness to the next level. If youre looking to achieve your fitness goals see general manager James or one of his fine staff and get yourself set up Jerry :-)
Havent gotten any explanation for why this particular LA Fitness has such garbage hours. Most of their locations are open till 11 during the week, not 10, and they close at 8 on the weekends, not 6 like this one on Anderson. I dont understand how they can reduce the availability of a service after people have signed up expecting a certain number of hours and then expect that wont piss them off. It would cost me about $3 more per month to just go back to Golds which is open 24/7.Btw, it isnt Fall anymore, time to take down the signs that label these hours as your fall hours. If youd like to replace the sign with winter hours and then somehow explain why your gym has to close earlier because of the season, wed all love to hear that.
I had a great experience while I was working out there. However, unknowlingly to me until I checked my bank account, my rate per month had been increased almost to double of what I was originally paying. I moved and am no longer interested in continuing. The cancelation process is not ideal for someone like me who moved and have limited availability.
When I signed up I also took a contract for a personal trainer. At the time I took that contract I was clear that I would only work with a woman trainer. They all said no problem. After 3 training sessions they fired my very competent, RN trainer because she could not work a day they wanted her to. She suggested to them that she be allowed to finish with the women she started with but they made her leave right away. When I asked the manager why she could not stay to finish. He said my staff will NOT tell ME what to do, He was gone very soon after that. My training stopped. 6 months later no female trainer, and they would not return any of my money. They told me to go to round rock where they had a woman. Frankly, they could not care less about me or my progress. When I finally left the club they had about $350 of my money and I had no training. Also, the staff keeps changing, the policies keep changing, the rules keep changing. Frankly the club sucks and I would give it no stars if I could.
This place has a great weight room, newer machines, a basketball court, a bycle room etc. If you dont shower at the gym or dont want to use the sauna than its perfect because the locker room, bathroom, showers and pool are dirty. Candy wrappers sit on the floor for weeks and almost every shower has wadded up wet toilet paper or a random dirty bandaid. Dont walk bare foot because the floors are always sticky and dirt is perpetually in the grout between the tiles
I have always had very good experiences at this gym on Anderson Lane until yesterday. I decided to bring a guest last night and he forgot to bring his drivers license. The stocky-looking male manager, Vic, made no graceful exception and denied him entrance. Im sorry that my retired military guest - 71 years young - forgot his ID. This was not a matter of national security and we were not going to see some political figure or requesting secure access to some secret internet files. We were going to use a treadmill. There is a graceful and respectful way to implement rules without offending your guest. I quote... Anyone over the age of 18 should be caring an ID. In the end this was a missed opportunity for someone to sign up which also left a loyal member feeling disappointed and now questioning keeping her membership.
Very very dirty bathrooms and locker rooms. Moldy showers, hair and used toilet paper on the floor, piss on the walls in the bathroom. I complained to the staff and management a dozen times and they really dont care it seems. When things break it takes them over a month to fix them. Staff is caring and nice, but the management doesnt even try. Save the money and go somewhere cheaper and cleaner.
Overcharged on personal training, not resolved after multiple attempts and promises that its being handled, personalized meal plan was a generic worksheet that was handed to me after 4 different requests. Trainer had multiple scheduling conflicts including somehow you are just not on the schedule. Huge waste of money for me and also frustrating to get issues resolved. Unprofessionally managed. The facility is very clean, though, kudos to the cleaning staff.
I have been coming here for a year and mostly just using the treadmill, but tonight they offered Kickbox Cardio class at 5:45pm with Lyzette, so I went to that. It was amazing. Lyzette is the cutest ever but she will kick your butt! Great workout! I will be going back for Zumba with Lyzette!
I dont know what these reviews are about. I have a national membership, and this LA has a larger diversity in workout machines than most gyms Ive ever been to. Its very very clean, especially compared to LA fitnesses in the Dallas/Mckinney Area, (bathrooms included) its usually not very populated inside so theres always free machines to use, and the management is great. I used to call this management team when my LA fitness in Mckinney would try and suck money out of me, and these guys would give me a deal. I gave it 4 stars because the hours are weird. 5 Am - 9 Pm weekdays, and 8 Am - 6pm Weekends. My other LAs were 8-11 weekdays and 8-8 weekends I think. The gyms not dirty. Its more upkept than the UT Austin facilities and other LA locations.
A pack of liars here. Do not sign up. I should have paid attention to the labor dispute sign out front. Someone else has had a bad experience dealing with these people. They tell you anything to get you signed up. Nice equipment, bad management. Hot tub always has grime in the corners - not being cleaned very well.
A couple months ago a decided to return to this location because I know the instructor of sumba who was giving the classes. She is a certified instructor not only on sumba also barre, piloxing, kickboxing and other ones so that means she is a person with a lot experience her name is Lizeth Jaimez everything was also, but weeks latter she was removed from there a really don’t understand why if that class always was full. Instead they hired a person with any experience sometimes hardly a can see two or three people there. Then I decided to work on the math with balls ,weights and bench but days ago they close that area only for personal trainers. Is hard when I want to work on the machines because sometimes people is just chatting and also sometimes those machines smells awful.
The operations manager is horrible. Very unprofessional and lies a lot. She is never available to come to the phone or in person. Her direct reports think poorly of her management skills. LA Fitness will do well to train there management team before allowing them to deal with members and potential members. Zero stars for the operations manager.
The new Ops Manager here is impossible to deal with. My BF opened a new account and cancelled the old. They continued to charge me. She refused to give me a refund. Called Corporate and there wasnt a problem with issuing me a refund as they said they shouldnt have allowed two accounts to be active under the same person. Good luck dealing with someone who lacks basic competence.
This place is the absolute worst out of all the local locations. Unfriendly staff and very unsainitary restrooms. The shower curtains have mold and flys. I have complained multiple times and yet nothing is being done. And of course they are making me jump through loops to cancel my membership. Highly unsatisfied.
I am writing this post from a point of distress my husband and I came to this gym after getting a free gust pass and we thought itd be great they lied to us about joining told us that it would only be 25 a month per individual because according to the general manager he was putting us on his family planWell come to find out when we were ready to sign up it turns out that we had to pay the first and the last month up front plus the initiation fee. That should have been our first red flag but we were excited about all of the amenities and the free childcare because according to him we were not responsible of paying extra because of the special deal he was giving us !Well I have been coming to the gym for a month now and bringing my children all of the sudden today they tell me that I cannot bring my kids because it is an xtra cost that I did not register for !! Please people be careful this was a very dishonest thing to do and its not fair that they robbed us of our money intentionally to get us to sign up knowing that they would not offer what they said they were going to give us !
By far the most money hungry gym I have visited. I didnt even get to use my three day pass , instead I was sat down and asked how much I made a year, what type of car I drove and the guy was by far the most awkward person Ive ever talked to. First off If your going to sell Fitness YOU NEED TO BE IN SHAPE YOURSELF. The guy looked like he worked at a Bank he didnt even introduce himself at all to me, my girlfriend or my friend at all. Worst part is he tried to tell me how much he makes a year that he was promoted in 6 months since he started .... That I should get a job there. I DIDNT NEED A JOB I NEEDED A GYM FACILITY TO WORKOUT. I had enough ...I grabbed our I.Ds off the table and left.
Super pushy to get you to sign up for membership when I was using a guest pass, keeps calling and harassing me to sign up.Also claimed to have seen me recently so I couldnt use the guest pass when I first went in, said he was newly working there and he knew he saw me, so I asked him to check, he checked my ID and last time I was there was over a year ago so he had to let me use the pass.Victor was the employee I was dealing with, super pushy and unprofessional, worse then a car salesman.I might of signed up honestly if it was not for this experience, Ill be going somewhere else.
When I first subscribed to the gym I was told it was going to be open by October 2014. Since then it has been pushed back so many times I decided to cancel my membership. I signed up with Perla, and I decided to talk to Perla directly to cancel, she said it was done and i no longer have a membership. Recently i found out they have been taking money from my account and now refuse to give me the full amount since the date I cancelled. They said they should have sent me a confirmation email, but they didnt even have an email on my application to send it to. Since then, Perla doesnt work there anymore so the person I talked to (Loreta) cant confirm my cancellation. DO NOT GO HERE! a bunch of shady people just wanting to take your money.
I just wanted to give a quick shout out to Alex. He was very kind to my fiance and I and was very down to earth. He didnt pressure us at all and was a great salesman. We decided to join and give it a shot because of him. Thanks for being real Alex!Your approach works!

2022-04-14Truly disappointed in soo many ways. I was looking to transfer to this gym because my current gym is about to close. I went there and spoke with Richard Day, completely unprofessional, having his AirPods on and texting for the 5 minutes that our conversation lasted over pricing and benefits. Regarding the equipment, all the benches were attached to the ground so people don’t move them. This is the first time in my life that I have seen a gym putting the heavyweights on the top of the rack and the lightweights on the bottom. Clearly, management has not lifted in years because they should know heavyweights should always be placed on the bottom rack. The benches are mostly not in good condition, and the gym lacks on cleaning stations. During my workout, I have only seen around 10 people cleaning the equipment after using it. The only good thing this gym has is the large amount of cardio machines, but the weight section has limited amounts of 45lb plates. I would not recommend coming to this gym at all.

2022-05-20This location has friendly staff and decently empty locker rooms. The pool at this location is by far one of the cleanest, but there are still clumps of hair floating around which is kinda gross but it’s still way better than several of the other LA fitness locations. The water is relatively clean and there is usually an empty lane in the pool or a person willing to share lanes at this location as well. Overall pretty good. Would give 5 stars if there weren’t clumps of hair

2021-08-01I liked the gym from the moment I entered. It was calm, it was welcoming, I will say its the best gyms have been to so far. It is clean. I liked it. The only thing I didnt find was a trap bar😌. If it was closer to my home it would be my home gym. Great gym

2021-09-06The facility was clean and the staff was polite. The equipment is similar to the equipment offered in other areas.I had a good workout and was able to use all the equipment as expected.

2022-02-24Not a bad gym for the price. Reduced the rating by 2 stars due to: equipment being broken/requiring service, including the hot tub; not having enough of certain equipment (squat racks); and how busy it is at 6 am. Been going for a week or two now and will continue.

2022-07-25Be prepared to be treated differently by a rude staff.I have been going to this gym over the past two months. Overall the environment is clean and the equipments are good enough. However, there is a rude staff whistled and yelled at me while I reentered the gym today because he stepped outside for a smoke and didnt see me check in. He followed me to the rack and inquired whether I have checked in and reentered the gym. And he didnt feel anything wrong about his behaviors of treating customers as thieves. This guy happens to be the one who asked me where are you originally from? when I joined the gym two months ago. I countered his question by asking him why do you ask? Is it because I am Asian? And he took a walk.

2022-02-24You HAVE to go in-person to cancel your membership. Otherwise you need to print off the form, fill it out and snail mail it in. An old-school way to trap people in memberships and a great way to make sure I dont return in the future. Such a shame this company treats people like transactions.

2021-07-13Highly recommended. Great facilities, well kept, and extremely helpful staff. Great place for a quick pickup game of basketball or pop in for a run during bad weather. The spin class teachers rock.

2022-06-10I moved from Cedar Park to Downtown & checked this spot out as my new daily LA Fitness stop. I was beyond dissatisfied. The front desk staff was so involved with his fantasy lineup he didn’t look up from his phone the entire time I was there. Didn’t notice or address anyone when they walked in or out. The bathrooms were trashed. It was a Sunday, so I don’t blame custodial staff because they probably weren’t working that day, but the employees there seemed to have a “not my job” mentality & let every trash bin overflow, there was paper towels all over the floor in every area of the mens locker room, lots of gum in the urinal etc. The other employee I saw present walked around the gym, talked to people & ignored the free weights that needed to be re racked. Overall I won’t be returning to this location again. People who pay for LA Fitness (more than other big gyms) do so because they are supposed to be held to a higher standard than a anytime/planet fitness. Corporate should be ashamed of this locations condition.
