So gross. Just being in the room made my skin crawl. There were stains in everything, from the carpet to the sheets to the shower curtain all the way to the walls. It looked like it hadnt been deep cleaned in years. They didnt even bother putting fitted sheets on the bed. We didnt go down to it, but the pool was a nasty green and looked vial. The smell of smoke was overwhelming through the whole building. It probably ways a beautiful hotel back in its day, but the owners now, obviously, do not care about it. The room was $50 for the night, but it was nowhere near worth that. This is the kind of hotel a cheating man would sneak away from his wife to take his mistress for the night.
Rooms were not clean and in bad state of update and repairs!Stayed two nights and maid just threw bedspreads over bed.. took dirty towels.. left no clean towels and didnt vacuum or clean bathroom.Love the location but needs remodeling. Also said there was continental breakfast but there was none!
It was an okay place to stay. There was a roach in the elevator but the room was pretty clean. The whole place smelled a little off but nothing horrible. All of the wall outlets were so loose that the plugs were falling out of the outlets. Vacancy was advertised at 32.00 but when we got inside we were told it was only for one person, so we had to pay more because there was two of us. Beds were pretty big room was a decent size and the sheets seemed clean.
For the price, its okay. Only paid $38 for 2 beds. Courtyard was lovely but stunk of stale cigarette smoke or something. Room was plenty of space for one teen to sleep on floor. Toilet paper roller was missing. Not sure the air conditioning was working or not. Saw two cockroaches in the room. No free breakfast. Bed was creaky and not firm enough.
We were on our way home to Michigan from Tucson AZ and had drive until about 5am and finally decided we needed to stop. We seen the vacancy sign lit up and pulled in. Got to our room realized there was still garbage in the trash cans but was not going to make a big deal of it. Blinds were completely broke so it had enough space to brighten our room nice and early! Which we were still just going to deal with because were pretty understanding people and needed a bed most. But after housekeeping knocked nice and loud at 845am and woke us all up, we noticed the cockroach on the wall! My fiance took it to management and they said we have the building sprayed. This is my first and only bad review Ive ever wrote and if I could give this place zero stars I would. Even for the price Id never stay here or recommend it to anyone! Just gross.
Entering the hotel building, it looked quite beautiful. However, upon entering our room, it seemed quite rundown and not maintained well at all. The obviously white sink was actually rusted more than halfway and that was about all I cared to really look at beyond that. Crawled in to bed and went to sleep, the beds were quite cozy. For the price, Id have expected a more well kempt bathroom. As well, the doors didnt lock and we couldnt turn the heater on.
A great old hotel. Its not fancy, but its charming, very clean and the staff are very friendly. My room was large, quiet and the bed was really comfortable. The courtyard in the center of the hotel, is filled with beautifully cared for live plants. It has a zen sort of feel about it.Most rooms have an inside entrance, like a traditional hotel, as well as an entrance from the outside. Those that do not have an outside entrance, have a private little balcony. And a free hot breakfast!Im glad I stayed here... more than worth the low rate I paid. Give it a try, next time youre staying in Amarillo.
The hotel lobby and guest area is nice. Its clean and well kept. They are renovating now and the efforts show. However, the outside srairwells are in dangerous need of repair, the rooms are dated and lack common amenities such as hair dryers, refrigerators, worn, dirty carpet, and card readers that are not in good working order. For the price, its not a bad place to stay, but consider your price tag, your not paying much because your not getting much.
Overall the hotel was okay. Its location made for easy travel on foot. So that came in handy. Friendly as heck staff. But the rooms lacked a phone, (yet a phone list to dial other rooms and such) fridge, proper lighting, a bathroom fan, soaps never got replenished, and our back door would not open with our key. In fact we got 2 keys and only one worked at all.
Staff is very nice. The rooms are crazy old and in need of new carpet, new furnishings, new drapes, new showerheads, new toilets, you get the picture. Oh and definitely new TVs, the ones they have are ancient. The lobby area is updated and nice. There is coffee in the morning, it could be stronger and a little less ground in it. There is no breakfast, so dont be fooled by the signs everywhere advertising it. The wifi needs to be be upgraded as well. But my biggest complaint is getting only 1 towel.
DONT STAY HERE!!! We where In groups No hot water terrible place to stay! So much issues the place is disgusting carpet feels very dirty rooms smell like cigarettes popcorn ceiling was extremely disgusting the room has no lights only lamps that barley light up the room the doors are clear mad me feel very unsafe bathrooms are dirty DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
Our room was really big and great for the price. (At first) The only thing I disliked was the dirty rug and outdated curtains/bed covers.Once we started settling in I was disgusted. We had two queen beds and when I was getting them ready to sleep on, one of the beds had wrinkled sheets with hair in a few areas and the pillows. Then it got worse, I took out a pack of Oreos for my son and after leaving them on the night stand for like 5min baby roaches came out. This hotel has a lot of potential, its very big and beautiful out in the court but the rooms need an upgrade and major pest control.
This is a budget hotel, so when staying here I expected only a few things, a warm room (was in the 40s the night I stayed there), decent bed, working shower, and breakfast (since its one the things promised with the room). The lady in the front was super friendly upon check-in and made me feel welcome right away. The bed was pretty hard but I still got good sleep. The breakfast really surprised me, it was no frills but the eggs were very good and fresh scrambled right there in front of you and the sausage links were good. The coffee left something to be desired though, was either very strong or burnt, I couldnt tell. All in all this place was very good for the price except for one thing, which in my case turned out to be minor, but if it was in the 20s it would have been a big deal, the heater didnt work, despite following the faded printed instructions affixed to the thermostat, it was in the low 60s in the room when I woke up. If it was any colder outside the room would have been rather uncomfortable. I had to take a star off for that because no matter how little you pay for a hotel room, next to a bed to sleep in, climate control is the most basic necessity of a hotel room.
This place was pretty upon entry but when we stepped in the room, it was something out of a horror flick. Patched ceiling, where you could tell there were holes at one time. Key cards didn’t work right. Bathroom toilet seat had spots rubbed off of it. One of the elevators did not work and the other was pretty scary. We ended up leaving. Did not even stay overnight. I would not recommend.
Place used to be nice, old and run down now. Nonsmoking rooms had cigarette burns on everything, bed covers had crumbs on them, and opened the mini fridge to meet our roommates (bugs). Staff was polite and tried to be helpful but a big disappointment from what u see online.
I think the horses must have stayed here. The chemical odor that greets you permeates the air throughout the hotel. The carpet is filthy and the room and bathroom are barely any better. We had a cockroach in the bathroom. Everything is generally run-down or in disrepair. The jacuzzi was in progress when we stayed. The hot, cooked breakfast was tasty. Id say the friendly desk clerk and breakfast cook are the hotels only assets.
First of all the place smells like a public porter potty. The bed sheets looked like they hadn’t been since the ice age. Rocks are made of better material. Staff has very salty attitudes. The pool wasn’t even open and had green film all over the top. Also there isn’t breakfast served there so don’t even bother. I had to buy febreeze and candles to mask how smelly this jungle dump was.
Absolutely the worst hotel Ive ever stayed in. Please save your money. The beds were filthy as were the floors....and just about everything. The door to our room, had been kicked in at one point, and the lock was broken. There were bugs, and stains and ilthe bathroom was nasty. I guess the only reason to give one star, is there wasnt bed bugs in our room. The elevator was broken, and I have a child in a wheelchair. Booked the hotel online, and spent WAY too much to stay in a dump. The kids didnt even want to lay down, and you know if kids think its gross...its probably a biohazard!
When you first walk into this hotel you can tell how grandiose it is, or at least WAS back in the 1960s-70s. Now its like visiting your grandmas house. And not the nice grandma who has a really old but clean house. More like the grandma who smokes too much and kinda hoards a little too much. Spa was cemented in, but they had an cheap above ground hot yup but that was taken apart for some repairs that were never finished. Alot of their suites looked more like junk storage closet since apparently they dont use them any more. A piece of my roof was falling in and the mattress was heavily stained. (I posted some photos). I was a single traveling guy who was raised with pretty low standards but even I thought this place was bad. The only thing going for this place is that the staff was very friendly.
I was really disappointed with this stay. I have stayed here multiple times, and this one was the worst. I had specifically asked if their pool was up and running, and i was told yes it was. We had planned on going swimming the morning before we checked out, but when we got down there, it said it was closed for maintenance although there was no one around working on it. I had some pretty upset kiddos after that, and 2 that were looking forward to getting to work out their legs after a big basketball tournament. It made me think they did this intentionally so people would just decide to go ahead and leave early, instead of staying and swimming, so maybe their crew could get done working earlier or something.Thats how i took it. I had to clean the bathroom before i would let my kids use it, due to all the hair on the sink, and floor, thank God i had bleach wipes with me. To top it all off, yes i know there is a bar in the hotel, but when my 14yr old went to the vending machine for water, he came back and told me that some guy had a girl bent over next to it, and she was practically naked, and they were getting it on. You know, it wouldnt hurt to pay someone for security and to walk the halls for their guests safety, especially on the weekends with the bar and all. Ive had drunkards come banging on my door in the middle of the night, trying to get in thinking its their room. If the owner would just put a little more money into this place, update their rooms, offer a breakfast like they used to, even if they did have to charge a little more, it may do a lot better. Hate to say it, but they have definitely lost my business from now on. Such a shame to see this once beautiful hotel go to waste. The price is fair, but you obviously get what you pay for.
If I could rate La Kiva hotel a 0 I most definitely would. La Kiva hotel was a complete disappointment. The staff was incredibly rude as well as the manager! I tried to express my disappoint to the manager and he was short and very rude!! I also heard several noises in my room and little did I know a MOUSE would be the one making that sound!!! When I told the manager and front desk about it I got called a LIAR and when I told them I could show them the hole from where the mouse came they told me that I was harassing them and that I would be asked to leave the hotel if I continued to keep it up!!!! WOW!!! I took pictures of not ONLY the mouse hole but also the stained carpets, and the stained sheets that also came with cigarette burn accessories! The breakfast server was also a very RUDE, I will not go into detail simply because I dont have the time nor the effort!!!! The only person that I can say was a decent person and treated everyone like a human was a young girl (with colored hair) that worked the front desk, so to you I thank you, for treating everyone like a person and being kind. As for the other staff you need a serious lesson on customer service!!! Also I was not the only customer who had this very experience, several people I was with that weekend had the same problems, our entire party got about 15 rooms that weekend. All were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!
The night Clerk was nice, thats where the nightmare begins. The rooms were hot. The curtains wouldnt shut. The fountain was broken and dried out. There is no room service.the air conditioning was broken in all 3 rooms. They refunded the money but refused to send an email to have my money put back into my account. It take 3 ir more days to get your money returned to your credit card. The beds were old and lumpy.
Staff is great but the rooms are bad. I was told that the hotel is under new management. But they to do some upgrading for sure. My room had a king size bed and a tv on a stand and that was it and bed felt like I was laying on the floor. But for sure the only reason the hotel is getting a 3 star is because of the staff. The staff made my stay better doing anything they can to make my stay better and taking care of me and my family.
This place used to be really nice. Now its not bad, but make sure you park on the side with security cameras - I parked in the back closer to my room and my car was stolen. It seems that having a car stolen from here is a rare occasion, so its probably fine so long as you park were there are cameras. (If you see a bright green Hyundai Accent with Indiana plates and probably the front passenger window broken/missing in the Amarillo TX area, please report it to the police - incident number is 18-525040.)The people here are nice, the rooms are clean if not terribly modern, its a very interesting building you can tell once upon a time was Western glamorous. If more money came into the hotel, you can tell it would be high class, but I guess not a lot of people are interested in the quarter horse museum and hall of fame, which is a shame. I had planned to visit since it was right next door, but that business with my car being stolen had me too busy during the open hours.
This hotel is awful and completely outdated. When we got into our room there were cigarets holes in the blankets. There was paint all over the shower, and there was nothing covering the mattress’s but the blankets. It looked like it was infested with bugs. We did not sleep well and hardly anything worked in the hotel room. Not to mention the lady at the front desk had no clue what she was doing or talking about. Please do not stay here you would seriously regret it.
This hotel suited my needs. It was quiet, and the front desk clerk was very attentive. I bothered them for many things, and they were very on top of that, and what things they lacked they made up for in pleasant attitude. Build some sketchy people stay there though. Did not enjoy the scenery all too much either.
The hotel looks great on the out side and the price was decent, however they said free wifi and I needed it for work and none of my devices would connect and had zero help from the employees the rooms where not clean just sprayed down with alot of spray to kill the other wise horrible smell and at the free breakfast we seen roaches!! We wont be back.
Watch out if you have a pet! They say that they are pet friendly but, they may charge you $150 for your pet if your not looking at the fine print when you sign in (even if you register on line with a Pet) that should be a $15 charge only. Steve is an snake and is waiting to prey on your wallet. His response was that he has already dealt with upset people and could care less. if you dont make sure when you sign for your room you might be making a negative review as i am. I will never stay in that dirty place again and you should reconsider your stay as well. Also, you walk out of the shower and your damp feet are getting dirty with every step on the carpet. Im very upset with my stay there. this is not a Pet friendly place, its a trap for you to get taken advantage of! Thumbs down at La Kiva!
Lets just say I took a few steps into the room scanned it and walked right out! Nope! 👎🏼 Dont let the main lobby fool you. The rooms are hideous and it literally smelled like wet rug and mold. The bed looked stale and like it hasnt been washed in years. Stains.... EVERYWHERE!!!! Chairs, Bathroom, Rug you name it. And some stains looked like blood. If you are single the price is what you pay for but I have a young child who I sure as hell wasnt gonna get sick from catching some type of disease or inhale mold! From the online pictures it looks like this place was once nice. But not anymore! Take this review as blessing. I wish I would have read them first.
Theyre extremely rude here , terrible service skills, Desire at the front desk is unhelpful and seems unhappy with her job. House keeping tried to keep our bathing suits and when we tried to talk to a manager we cant get ahold of any also the workers told us theyre isnt a manager on duty for the majority of the time. There are roaches everywhere. Our toliet didnt work, the sink had rust and shower/ bath didnt look very safe we stayed in room 123 , I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone they need better everything Im very unhappy with my experience and honestly deserve a refund.
Indoor pool area smelled like sewage. Most uncomfortable bed ever, lumpy and worn out. Ancient crt style tv with cable, no refrigerator of any sort. Room smelled horrible. Tried to take a shower and the bathtub drain stopped up, and began leaking water all over the floor, soaking the carpet out into the room. Keycard lock on the door took 10-15 tries to get it to work every time, better off just leaving it open as the hotel is practically empty anyway. They no longer offer breakfast. Whole place looks like its been neglected for years. Wont be going back.
The pictures shown above depict the inside and pool are reasons we stayed. It has a cool wide open area. It has seen better days. Some paint around the pool rails would help. Cosmetic ally the whole place needs attention. If you want to save $$ and dont mind thats not new. The room was OK but the bathroom was horrid. Unfortunately we didnt check the whole room better before we paid. Only $50 for 2 beds, military discount. Sink counter falling down on one end and rust in sink. We liked the second door to the room to our parking spot that was convenient for bringing in the luggage. And with such wide gaps in the door we could even see the car. Those gaps made it even easier to hear the traffic from the highway. Breakfast, eggs, sausage and toast cooked to order. Friendly cook.
The staff isnt friendly or very helpful. When I arrived I went to my room & sat on the most uncomfortable lumpy hard bed with flat pillows. The hot tub was broke. The video games were broke & stole my sons money & the front desk said sorry I cant help you. Awful hotel.
We rented a room and the girl in the front was super nice. But the place has really gone downhill it use to be really pretty now not so much. The matience man was extremely rude. We ended up cutting our stay short after just a few hours and checked out. Will not return. Save your money and go else where.
Everyone please help me get this out to as many people as possible regarding La Kiva Hotel in Amarillo and please tell me who I need to report this to.My review....please excuse my language in attached videosReserved online through booking app. to spend the night with my 12 and 15 year old boys between Ama-Con convention days. Had high hopes. Pics looked very elegant with indoor pool and hot tub, pool table, and game room. When I checked in was informed since I live in Borger, I cant pay with cash...only credit or debit card, after I had called up there amd confirmed cash was accepted. So off to put cash on a card. Literally opened door amd dropped off luggage amd headed back up to convention. Didnt get back until 11:15pm. This place should absolutely be demolished. The smoke detector was in bottom dresser drawer with exposed wires, no secure exterior exit. Horrible horrible smell walking down corridor to my room. Enough so that I went back up front to tell them they may want to check for dead bodies. Pool looked murky. Whole place dingy looking and dirty. NO breakfast served but it was advertised. Only 1 elevator working. And last but Not least our room was completely roach and bed bug infected. Blood spatter in bathroom. Opening in ceiling into sonething idk. Perhaps attic. Holes in shower plumbing. Mold in bathroom. Huge hole in wall. Mini fridge alive with cockroaches. We had stopped by store and brought some snacks for room. It was so bad I just left snacks. Called to front and told them about roaches and bed bugs. Was asked if I wanted another room. I said no, I want a refund so I can take my kids somewhere else to sleep. This is unacceptable amd frankly you should be embarrassed to even work in this environment. Supposedly my debit card was refunded and ill have it in 3 days...we will see. Since I didnt pay cash they would t give me cash back to go get another room.. Spent my budget on convention tickets and this room. Refused. I even had video and pics. I asked her to get manager on the phone which she did twice but refused to let me talk to her. When I asked why I was told because its late and she was sleeping. Well isnt that lovely...something we couldnt do because of her awesome establishment. Then the maintenance guy or whoever was sitting there and chimed in I was lucky I was even getting a refund because they arent supposed to give after 15 minutes. So we will now be missing the 2nd day of the Ama-con convention. We had no choice but to drive back home (after stopping by Wal-Mart and spending $13 for lice and bedbug shampoo and house spray. Im very very upset about how this situation was handled. I requested corporate info and was refused it twice u til I told her i was reporting them to BBB and health services. I was then handed a business card with the name Amanda Aragon and just the main phone number and fax. No way to get a hold of her. Ramhotels is website. This place should be condemned. Please tell me what I can do for follow up as everything about La Kiva Hotel is a health hazard.
I live in Amarillo and stayed here in August of this 2016 with out of state Family. At first I thought it wasnt so bad the cable didnt work which I didnt really care. And the motel staff were nice. The pool looked OK, the rest of the motel was dirty and looked like a dump. I ate breakfast here and swam in the pool, which I think was a mistake.
It was a low price. I just needed somewhere to lay my head at night and a place for my kid to swim. You get what you pay for. The outlets dont all work , the wall unit is ok. The bed is firm, the pillows are kind of hard. Its musty and a little stinky. But its also very quiet and the workers were very kind. Theres a bar but I couldnt hear any of it. So if youre looking for quality , go somewhere else. But its perfect for a budget
The main lobby was gorgeous and smelled a bit musky, however its an old building so my younger sister and I thought nothing of it. This was a mistake! The sheets had hair and mascara stains on them. The carpet was gross and stained, the beds had fruit loops, plastic, and a cheep cross necklace under them. Tub was moldy, walls were rotting a bit. We wouldnt know if there were bedbugs because we slept in sleeping bags on top of the covers, using clothes as a pillow case! We are backpacking and would have been better off sleeping in the woods another night 🙄. Staff was nice enough but it cost $59 and that is steeper than it was said to be. There was also a mouse hole in the wall and toe nails on the floor
We stayed here back in March 2013. Have low expectations and you will not be dissapointed. Very helpfull front desk. Nice bar/lounge. Pool and Hot tub was good. A/C worked great. Excellent maid to order breakfast. The rest was pretty BAD. Old, rundown, and probably never been upgraded. Room had a strong stench after I turned on A/C. Shower was stuck on permanetly, luckily I was not wanting to take a bath. No phones in the room and no wi-fi. Only ice machine that worked was on the bottom floor of a 3 story hotel on the north side of the atrium. Hotel was full on the Saturday night we stayed thier. People running up and down the halls in the middle of the night. Looks like it was probably one of the nicest hotels back when it opened some 30+ years ago. They would be better off tearing it down and starting over befor they ever thought about remodeling this place. I knew what to expect as I read plenty of reviews. Outcome = You get what you pay for. Overall I would say it was a value and would give it a 1 and 3/4 rating. If your looking for something cheap and not picky, its worth a shot. Still have not decided if I would ever stay thier again or not?
Been here two days and switch three rooms.first room door was messed up. The second rooms tv was messed up and the third ones toilet is leaking. I couldnt assess the problem because our babies were already asleep. I whent to the front desk and ASKED for new towels because we didnt want to get blamed for water damages in carpet. Guess whos getting there money back?
The exterior looks pretty good, the inner atrium is dated but ok and it has a nice pool in the atrium but when you walk into the room a pervasive smell of mold and mildew hits you and gradually grows to an intensely invasive odor that is nearly unbearable. nice location next to cracker barrel. very friendly staff. but that odor is a deal breaker. my brother and his family were in another room a few doors down and it had the same odor problem.
I have never seen such a dirty hotel in my life! The carpet was filthy, the bathroom sink was clogged, there was a hole in the bathtub, and it goes on. Even though they told me during check-in that they have breakfast, but in the morning there wasnt any. The only good thing was the behavior of the front desk ladies and the maintenance guy, they were really nice.
Horrible , ghetto! My door wouldnt even shut and they wouldnt put me in a different room. They need to update the hotel badly. The only thing good about this hotel is that it had a nice little bar in it. The people are very friendly. Other then that this hotel needs to be updated.
Good price, bar attatched was fun, even if it did seem like we werent welcome at first (seems full of locals). Staff good. Breakfast was horrendous and the reason I have had to mark this down as the reason we stayed here rather than somewhere else was for the breakfast and I could barely eat it and Im not fussy, afterwards I felt sick all day.
Came in exhausted great overnight clerk she was so kind n informative I arrived at 3am on my B-Day Oct 21st. Im on my way to get surgery she was so sweet n I just loved her made this just not another hotel but personalized n really pretty great place even had on camera security for us to park n feel safe. I will be stopping in on my way back to home. Thanks again for your kindness😇
Enormous mural, beautiful interior stone walls and plants. Free breakfast of sausage, scrambled eggs, toast and (only) grape jelly from a delightful cook. Friendly staff. The bathroom was not clean and shower leaked, but it is the best of three value hotels we have stayed at in Amarillo...
If you need a service dog is this motel is not the place. dont come here they are rude, treat you like a second class citizen could not even get a cup of coffee because I had my Service dogs with me they are verbally abusive their rooms are dumps. I cant say why the had any rating over 2 stars. This is a minus 2 motel. Megan is a 5 star employee. She does everything she can to make your stay pleasant. She doesnt have much to work with.
The main area of the hotel was dusty, the kitchen/breakfast area was unkept. Free breakfast came with our stay, but we decided not to eat there. The room had obviously had a water leak that was poorly repaired. The wall coverings were bubbling off the walls. The sink was stained and the shower leaked. The carpet was dirty and sticky. I will not be staying at this hotel again.
The hotel charged my card even after being told that i already paid in advance for my room. They told me it had to be paid for. Then they even charged me more than i had to pay online and refusd to give me a refund. They made me pay cash for one night and would not give me a receipt.Too top things off i told them 6 times that our tv did not work and they kept telling us they would send someone to check it and they never did so we went 4 nights and 5 days without a tv. Tina was the rudest hotel associate i have ever come across. No class!! So unprofessional and the worst stay i have ever had. I will not ever return!!
After some research I decided to book a room at La Kiva. Its an old run down hotel in need of A LOT of work. However, it is quite a unique experience. It also had a great heated pool right next to our room. Hot breakfast was served next morning. My only complaint is there was no hot water until about 9 am. But otherwise a you pay for what you get kind of place. On a side note, there is a pokestop inside the courtyard of this hotel for those that play Pokemon Go.
I cant express enough how wonderful this hotel is. Not only for the price, but compared to all other hotels in the area, its wonderful.Great bar. Very friendly and prompt employees. A bit outdated, but I think it adds to the charm of what it once was. If youre in Amarillo on a budget, this is the place.Only complaint is the quality of the hot breakfast.
I wish there was a negative 5 star rating. This hotel is NASTY! The beds are hard as a rock, no hot water, the television was blurry ... just a really horrible experience. We asked if there was a way to get another room with a better TV and bed and they refused. This was the worse night ever!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!
The room was clean, but there are lots of maintenance issues, such as the shower faucet was broken and the water pressure was super low. The bed was worn out and very uncomfortable. Yes the price was low but with how poorly maintained this Hotel is Im not planning on coming here again. I took several time stamped photos of the room on arrival, just in case my credit card gets charged for property that was already broken inside the room.
It was bad as soon as we walked out the door. They get our room wrong that we reserved. We had to move 3 times bc of no TV or fridge or the the was broke then the second night we were there we decide to go swimming bf they close the pool for the night we arent down there 5 min and we start whitnessing a child getting beat so we haul ass out of the pool to try to find help and stop the man and once I got all the way up front to the front desk I left her know wat was going on after screaming for help as Im running down the hallway she tells me I dont know wat to do I guess call 911 n I said oh u bet I am as soon as I find a phone and I did. Anyhow we will never stay at this motel again
I stayed at the Kiva Hotel in Amarillo in room 104 on 6 August for one night as our first stop on a Roadtrip from Denver. This was the worst experience to start a trip. The hotel itself, while old and run down was adequate. The room, while old and outdated was adequate (although the bed did have a huge dip in the middle). What created an extremely negative experience at the beginning of my 3 week road trip was the bugs. I went to sleep at 11pm and by 2pm I was awake and itching. We found and killed two black bugs (that look like bed bugs) and I reported the bugs to the front desk and I was told to call the manager the following day. The following day we headed to Fort Worth and I was in agony - bites had turned into welts all over my arms, legs, feet, neck and face. The only shoes I can wear are flipflops due to the bites on my feet, and due to the heat in Fort Worth, my trip was miserable. I called the manager the next day to be told that he wouldnt be there until Friday. I called on Friday to be told they were getting an exterminator in that afternoon and to call back on Monday. I called back on Monday and was told the manager wouldnt be in until Wednesday. I called today (Wednesday, and a week later) to be told that the exterminator didnt find bed bugs and was asked if I had gone to a doctor to verify that I had been bitten. The manager asked me to call back this afternoon, which I did numerous times, and I still have no resolution. By now, my welts have cooled down and I have counted 67 individual bites. 67! I dont know what kind of bugs this hotel has - but they have something! Bed bugs, mites, fleas, something! Due to the negligence of having bugs in their rooms, their extremely poor customer service and the state of this hotel - DO NOT stay at the Kiva Hotel in Amarillo!
The hotel is in serious need of a remodel. The bathroom light fixture didnt have a cover over it. Just florescent bulbs and wiring on the wall. The carpet was stained through out the room. The TV was old and tiny. The cabinet it was in was busted. Very poor maintenance.
Grand hotel that used to be awesome. Now it is older and not so grand. There is a night club that is strictly country music.. old style. And breakfast is over cooked to order. Its on the east side of Amarillo and within walking distance to the big Texan so theres that. So if you are looking for a different experience then go for it!
If I could give it less I would. Cigarette burns and what looked like pee stains on bedspread. Room smelled of smoke. The sheet came off my daughters bed. While she slept. Looked like blood. And. I dont know what else. On the mattress. Took pictures and showed to the desk clerk and she looked at me like. I had 2 heads. Dont stay here.
Not kid safe. We went to 3 rooms and each worse than the last. The first had standing water in the sink and all over the floor. The second had 3 inches of standing orange water in the tub. The third looked like it hadnt been cleaned in a month. The floors were bad. I wouldnt trust my kids walking around on the floor. It was so gross. If you are going to Amarillo dont stay here. We will never stay here again. We didnt even stay. We went to a different hotel. I also had a bad feeling when we walked in.
We stayed here despite the reviews and I’m so glad we did. La Kiva possesses a bizarre ‘hotel california’ charm that feels like you’re staying the night in an episode of the Twilight Zone. A large 70’s style atrium filled with plants that seem ready to take over... a defunct arcade... an air of mystery... why would you even think of staying in some cookie cutter budget hotel?
The hotel is fine there are a lot of things wrong like thier fountain not being used in a while the outside door to the room key reader doesnt work, the area for breackfast has folding metal chairs, the jaccusi is not even installed. The worst of it all is there is a bar in the hotel that blares thier music so loud it sounds like i have my tv on high volune because they dont have any sound proofing. The front desk only said they will close at 0200 well i need sleep before that. And even though this is a hotel the managers cant controll the bar......
This was by far the nastiest hotel Ive ever stayed in. Found mold in the tub. Tiles falling from the walls. Sink counter falling from the walls. Holes in the walls. Lights and light switches missing. Wall plugs so old modern power cords wont fit. Bed so hard it was like sleeping on a stack of cardboard. Lampshades so old they crumbling at a touch.
Would give this zero if I could. Bathroom is disgusting, mold on the tiles, faucet and shower head ready to brake off. Killed a bug, thought nothing of it, woke up in the morning to COCKROACHES in the shower, on the nightstand, disgusting. They should spend less on the nice looking lobby and more on pest control.
Trashy ass place! Needs some serious updating and exterminators !! I have stayed in this place and someone broke into my car in the middle of the night..popped the key hole out of my door and got in! They didnt take the DVD player that was in there but took a flashlight, the flashlight was expensive but if youre gonna break into a vehicle to steal stuff why not take everything of value!!! People are stupid!
This hotel is not that great the beds are hard the bathroom smells the TVs or small the staffing is rude the staff likes to make threats and take pictures of peoples license plates and Vin numbers thats what one of the security guards told me when me and him got an argument over it threaten me told me I needed to get the hell out her and called me a few races names. Then decided to get in my face and threatened to hit me and when I told him that I didnt want no trouble that if they proceeded I would let them talk to my lawyer because I am not about to go to jail for some stupid idiots due to my military background. if I could go lower than a one star I would rate this hotel in lower than one starso if youre reading this do not stay at this hotel The lady I dealt with at the front desk was about the only polite staff member. This hotel might be cheap in pricebut overall is not worth to stay in a hotel that the owner and the manager allows their staff to be rude be races Barton to cause bodily harm to others
Dont know what Carlos Hernandez is talking about on his review. The staff at this hotel are always very helpful and polite. As far as music at the pool being played loudly, I think 99% of guest really appreciate this being taken care of. It doesnt matter if it is hispanic music, country music, rock music or what it is really disrespectful and rude. No one should force their music on anyone else. I am quite sure this review is highly exaggerated. No one on the staff has ever given any indication of being racist whatsoever. There are several minorities working front desk, maintenance, and almost all of the housekeepers are hispanic. So for the racist card to be played is totally OUT OF LINE. This is an absolute ridiculous statement and Im sure there was alot more happening with this situation than what is being told on here. Afterall, there are 2 sides to every story and usually the one coming from the SUPPOSED VICTIM is not even close to what really happened. They fail to mention all of times they fail to listen when asked to do or not to do certain things. I just want to say that the Lakiva hotel might need a few updates and some tlc but as far as experiences there I have never had a problem with anything or anyone on staff. They have always treated me and all others that I have seen them deal with with the utmost respect. In my opinion, for the most part, when people put bad reviews on websites it is as much something they did as the property they are writing about. Just saying. As for the breakfast, I agree with this statement. He along with everyone else on staff are all wonderful. I would never stay anywhere else. Also, in closing, the pool he is talking about across the street from the Lakiva Hotel, is isolated from the rest of the hotel basically. The pool at the Lakiva Hotel is in the middle of the atrium so there has to be some sort of control on the noise level.
Checked into La Kiva hotel in Armarillo, Texas . To check out after seeing the fith and lies ! The website is a total lie. UCK! The place smells bad. There was NO pool.. it was a HORRIFYING experience. Should be shut down. Mattress was filthy, Cockroaches in room ! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL, WOULD RATHER SLEEP IN MY CAR! VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE!🖓👎
Made an online reservation an hour before I arrived. With a check in time of 2am. Arrived at 1:55 am and was told the rooms were sold out. Isnt that why I made a reservation? Rooms in the city were sold out. I asked the girl what am I supposed to do? Response idk sorry. Well sorry does not give me a place to sleep.
Nice people front desk. Hotel. Ok. Owner of pup super great. Bar staff more interested in texting than selling food or drinks. Regulars asume people. Learned a lot abut area. Hire better bartenders. When at work get off the phone.Obama not here too give y a free ride no more. Grow up.
AMAZING Hotel & the fantastic cost just an added bonus !!!! Indoor pool ..... a Bar & Grill.....an arcade upstairs, pool tables...free WiFi.AND a AMAZING BREAKFAST COOK!!!!! So many great things happening at Law Kiva, there is no way I could list them all!! Whoever owns LA Kiva I definitely see amazing potential and would love to be apart of this up and comming 5 STAR boutique hotel!!!
Worst place ever. Will not be picking this place again. Poor customer service, no hangers in the rooms or iron, elevator hardly works. Stained floors, breakfast service was poor. And no apple juice!!! Very rude. Poor wifi. The housekeeper was nice and did her job. But thats about it.
The room was very nasty, the tub was black the bathroom was nasty. I When to front and told the lady there and she just said ok.. Very upset I cant put my family in something like that..if I could give 0 stars I would..I cant believe people would stay there.. I walk in and walk right back out the door
I checked in on Nov 24th around 6am and booked for a stay until the 25th. When i checked in I specificly mentioned I didnt just want to stay for a few hours. The cleck that checked me in was a sweetheart. I recieved a call to check out 3 hours later. I spoke to a different incompetent cleck who just repeated the same thing, it say on my computer.... Anyway she made me check out even though i had ON PAPER that my stay was until the 25th. She insisted that I would have to check in again at 3pm and pay for another day. The hotel itself was cool and I would have stayed for 4 more days. F#&k me, right?! Thanks Kiva
On the 29th we checked in at 3 am.. the room smelled awful the bed caved in down the middle but we had an early drive in the morning decided to rough threw it we got eaten alive by what we thought were mosquitos.. we where way wrong.. BEDBUGS.. TONS OF THEM.. staff refused to give is the managers number or their corporate number.. we give this place 0 out of 5 stars.. to this day they still refuse to give us a number to get either our money back or to try and fix this situation.. we have photos to prove it..they knew they had bed bugs.. the bed mattress was filpped over as to hide it..
Not good shower didnt work tryed to move us to a diffrent room but count take a bath and told use maintenance did fixes the shower but did a piss poor jobthe card i had didnt work i had to go to the frunt desk like 5 time to get my card to work for the room my doughter found gum in her bed..... Not everry happy with this hotel me or my family
Its was the worst stay every they no longer do the breakfast they had a bunch of abandoned rooms it was to humid and hot in the room the air would work all that great when we stayed the first night there were men taking unconscious girls to their room and then police showed up arresting 5-6 people it was down right ghetto and very unpleasant plus nothing work the tv there was no fridge in room we had to walk up five flights of stairs with luggage and children because their elevator was broken and their toilets would not flush I swear worst place ever I would and will not be recommended to anyone
Looks nice from entrance got to room toilet just runs ice machine has black mold blood in elevator roaches in bathroom and hair floating all over in the pool behind curtains looks like food or who knows what all over it I wasn’t asking but hey the bar was good to compensate its definitely get what ya pay for kinda place

2022-03-17Had to look a three rooms to find one acceptable. Electric sockets loose and not working safely. There were a bunch of lamps in the three rooms, but they didnt have light bulbs in them, abd many werent plugged in. The breakfast was basic. Scrambled eggs, sausage links, and white toast. They ran out of cheese. No waffles, cereal, pancakes, yogurt, or fruit was offered. The juice machine worked poorly. Staff was nice enough, but things should be a little better. Thus place us now known as 1Hotel. Id pass.

2021-08-24Very nice indoors, reasonably priced bathroom door knob and latch broken, ac temperature control never got below 78, steamy. Polite employees, king size bed, $49.00 per night. Room was clean as well as bedding. I would stay again, in different room.

2020-12-27Beautiful place.Management should take the down time (covid, people not traveling) to do some minor repairs to binds and such. Ours were broken and thats all between you and the people walking by.Also management should train the receptionist to be a little friendlier, and not put people without dogs next to people with dogs when the place was pretty available to move people around.Waking up at 5am to the dog next door going nuts wasnt fun.Now that I sound like a total B. I seriously loved the place. Its pretty, and wanted to sit and read a book by the gorgeous fountain. The whole indoor hotel is a fantastic idea.

2020-12-18Currently called 1hotel or hotel1. Stayed for a night while on a long cross country road trip. Price really cant be beat. First room was kind of a bummer as the tv, microwave, etc did not work. Was moved to a mich nicer room and had a pleasant stay. Beds are comfortable, water pressure is great. For the price, much better than expected. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Convenient to anything needed. Does seem to have more long term guests. Wouldnt stay here on a honeymoon, or with kids. For a solo traveler on a budget this will do the trick! LLP

2018-07-01First off my room was $53.94 for the night, so lets set the bar there. This is unfortunately the hotel that time forgot. My guess is that at one time this hotel was really nice. Today though it has not been maintained, is poorly cleaned, and not updated at all. Random screws in the walls, the smoke detector was just hanging from the ceiling, the heat vent was covered in dust and grime, the bed side table was broke, the mattress is worn out, and whoever painted it have random splashes of paint everywhere including the lamp. The tables and chairs in the main area are from the 1970s. The fountain is broken, the hot tub is torn out (hopefully for upgrade or removal). The bar and grill in the hotel no longer serves food. The plus side is that the staff is friendly, the swimming pool looks clean, and again the room was $53.94. I would not stay here for more than a night but for a place to lay your head and a hot shower it does the job.

2018-09-24One of the worst hotel experiences Ive ever had. First, we arrive and the lady took 45 minutes to check us in. Spent most of the time talking to her friends. The lobby and common areas were nice but outside was falling apart. My service dog was scared to walk on the outside stairs because they were literally crumbing. Then the room... dated, rusted looking, unidentifiable stains on the ceiling, walls, and carpet. We werent brave enough to eat the breakfast. All in all, this is not a hotel to bring the family. We only stayed because we needed a place to sleep for a few hours and were just too exhausted to find someplace else.

2016-05-02I stayed there yesterday. I shared a room and still the price was too much for this place. Ive been to 121 different countries...this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed. The beds were terrible, with the box springs broken, so the mattress just sinks. The blankets smelled like smoke. The tub had stains from water dropping from the ceiling. The carpet must be about 30 years old. The chair looks like they grabbed it in an alley. I wish they would let me upload pictures. Deserves the lowest rating possible.
