Lakeway Veterinary Clinic in other cities:
Yesterday my beautiful young dog was jumping around like a crazy animal being attacked by a swarm of bees that wasnt there. She kept jerking around, looking for something that wasnt there and was attacking her. Rolling on the ground, jumping up, spinning around, hiding,... she was miserable. Ive never seen anything like it. We also noticed she had blood in one ear, and that ear was sensitive to touch. I immediately took her to the highly rated Lakeway Veterinary Clinic. I got there, and they refused to treat my dog. They gave me a couple of other vets numbers and wished me good luck, saying everyone is full. That is not how an emergency room treats a sick/injured patient, flat refusal to help, a couple phone numbers, and good luck. Terrible.
Our dogs left back paw had something that made her uncomfortable in walking. We were out of town and were lucky to find Lakeway Veterinary who opened on Sunday. We made an appointment over the phone. When we arrived, a tech came out and greeted us promptly. The tech took our dog to see the doctor. It took about 10 minutes and they came out. She explained to us that Kikis paw had a spike round ball and they took it out with no charge. We would like to thank the doctor and the staff who gaveexcellent care for Kiki.
If evil can reside in a vet clinic, it does so here at the Lakeway Veterinary Clinic located at 620 between Dave Dr and Lakeway Blvd.Unprofessional vet Dr. Smith and her friend another vet stood chatting away while my puppy was on the table suffering and being ignored. This went on for quite some time. While I was debating how long our little guy could wait, I observed a young woman, who appeared to keep our dog from falling off of the table, abruptly stand him upright. Why? No clue. Both vets were speaking to each other and not about him. His leg is injured. When I asked for them to bring me my puppy because we were done...that we were leaving, the other vet began to raise her voice at me. I said its okay. You guys can talk but we are leaving. She yelled at me that she is a vet! If I wasnt concerned about our baby animal I may have laughed. Dr. Smith then hoisted my eight week old yorkipoo into the air above her short stature and dumped him into my arms (remember, he is injured) and thrust her arm out with a sharp finger and ordered me out. I stood long enough to calmly call their hypocrisy to their attention--motioning to the in room anti-hate and everyone deserves respect poster. With that I slowly gathered my things and left. I picked up my paperwork off the clipboard on the way out.Unprofessional patient form (should have told me something)Dirty and stained clipboard (gross)Dirty roomsDirty pictures and framesDirty wallsDirty people
Owner was extremely pushy during an appointment, despite my telling him no multiple times. He was also unclear and couldnt offer clarification when I asked. The other vet techs there also dont act appropriately with the animals - watched a fight almost break out because one stepped out of the exam room with a loose leash on a reactive dog. Nail trim appointment was delayed 30 minutes, once... There were so many compounding things that made this place a big fat no for me. So many other vets, why deal with this?
So this place isnt my regular vet but I come here on occasion when I cant get in with my vet. Ive become familiar with Dr. Doyle and some of the other vets. As someone who works in the medical field Ive noticed some disturbing things about how Dr. Doyle practices medicine. Theres a stark difference between what he does and what other vets typically do. For one he always has this obnoxious amped up energy, I find it annoying and unprofessional. He doesnt truly examine my pet EVER which Ive always found odd. Ive seen him diagnose my pet before really running or recommending tests, and Ive noticed hell insist on them staying overnight when theyre not feeling well where as another doctor would have sent me home with meds. Its become very obvious that all he cares about is money. Its not necessarily a clinic thing either, it is just him. As a doctor youre supposed to do an exam, run diagnostics, and make a recommendation based on the results. It always seems like hes in a hurry for no reason. I can usually tell if my pet is either sick or in true distress and he seems to act like my pet is severely critical yet fails to explain to me a diagnosis that supports that behavior. I know theyre open 24/7, if I were to come at night I would hope he doesnt act that frantic for every pet that walks in unless its a true emergency. If I didnt know better it would make me panic unnecessarily. I may not know how it works in the vet medical field but in human medicine we see patients by URGENCY. I would be livid if my pet was actually critical but he was wasting his time on a pet that was only there for something small. This is where an accurate patient history is needed along with a quick assessment of the patient to make sure theyre stable. Every time I go there and I get him as my doctor, I always notice these disturbing trends, otherwise when another doctor sees me Im pretty pleased with the service. If you ever go there I beg of you, DO NOT SEE DR DOYLE. If you do, be very careful believing what he says and dont let his personality fool you.
I took my pregnant dog in for an emergency c-section, after examination they sent her home. Started to deliver in the office and stated her can deliver pups on her own. Pups were coming out feet first. Needless to say they did not want to do the c-section. I wasted time and gas traveling from Buda to Lakeway and lost half her pups. Go somewhere else that is willing to work for your fur baby. I knew she was going to have trouble and she was in labor for over 24 hours.
I took my dog in during after hours due to a laceration which needed immediate attention. At first, I was impressed due to the kindness of the receptionist. However, that impression completely faded when I realized that either Dr. Foulkes main priority is nickel and diming clients or that she is incompetent. She insisted on full general anesthesia to staple a wound. After sending the estimate to 3 other veterinarians (my colleagues who are not local and were unable to assist at that time in an emergency situation) I was told that the full anesthesia she insisted was necessary was actually NOT necessary and that IF she were to do full anesthesia, the local block she also applied (and that I paid for) was not necessary. When the veterinarians saw that her Isoflourane add anesthesia >20 min meaning she needed more than 20 minutes of anesthesia to treat the wound, the veterinarians jokingly said she needs to learn how to sew faster because that is an excessive amount of time due to the nature of the injury (and excessive cost).I was able to negotiate over $400 off of my bill with ease by declining the post op medications provided by the clinic and purchasing them at fair market value from honest veterinarians. All in all, the price I paid for this procedure was extraordinary and I am aware I was taken advantage of due to the after hours timing of the incident. You can argue that this is supply and demand, which is fair, yet unfortunate because when veterinarians inflate veterinary care with unnecessary costs, animal health suffers.I know the veterinary profession is difficult, but please, they will make more money over time if they are honest and affordable, as I will bring in my animals in for care more regularly. For anyone considering this veterinarian, I suggestion you question their methods and make sure all procedures performed actually benefit your pet.
This vet is HORRIBLE be aware !!! They gave my golden retriever the wrong shots that were suppose to go to another dog. Could have killed my dog. Their excuse was they were understaffed. What ??? How do you give my dog shots that were suppose to go to another dog. This place should be shut down. It’s a puppy mill now trying to make as much Money as possible with no care about the animals. My dog has been sick now and I having to go to an emergency vet to hopefully save his life. Pls pls watch your animals this places doesn’t care about them at all. They should be ashamed and closed down. Horrible horrible people. Not once did they call to check on my dog.
Thankful for the staff here! My dog injured himself, and his regular vet couldnt/wouldnt get us in for four days (I called at least 10 locations) Lakeway took us right in, even though they were clearly super busy. They took good care of my boy, shared all the info with me and answered all of my questions. Thank you Lakeway!
Im not sure why say theyre a 24-hour clinic. That isnt actually true. Weve had two seperate emergencies late at night and were having to drive from a long ways off, but were denied emergency services both times! They told us to drive all the way to AVES, which was another 20 miles. In my opinion, that is a big crock of you-know-what! Dont advertise yourself as a 24-hour clinic if you arent!
Long wait time with little to no checking in on patient and customer. Unprofessional and disorganized staff. I was shown a Google image as a comparison to a X-ray image, which I find as a very uneducated assessment to a serious concern towards my pet. I went to emergency care to see if my dog’s UTI was getting worst but I left with no clear feedback or any medication.
Was not impressed with this vet. Called at 8:43pm on Tues. Stating something bit or stung our dog on her eyebrow area. Person on the other end suggested it could be a possible snake bite. It was extremely red, swollen and looked to have a spot on it. I arrived at 9:14. Took about 5 minutes for the front office staff to even come to the front area to greet us. I told her who we were, she looked at my dog and said someone will be with you. 45 minutes later no had come out to check on us. Now they are the ones that brought up the possibility of a snake bite, but did nothing to make sure it wasnt. I sat there for almost an hour. Someone finally came out and asked all the questions including if my dog was on any meds. I told him what she was on. And that I had also given her a 1/2 benadryl. They took her back for vitals, then called me back. I was told that they needed to shave her eyebrow to really get a good look, then came in with an estimate of charges. I was floored at all the extras they wanted to charge. It was about 600.00. I said go ahead and shave some so we ca see what is going on. I was then told they can give her an anti inflammatory. I said she is already on one (I told them during triage, did she not look at our chart) I was then told to wait in the waiting room with my dog. Another 30 minutes went by. Very long story short something stung her and she was having a reaction. Relieved I was sent home. I will never return to this vet. God forbid my dog was bit by a snake and needed immediate treatment
If live in Lakeway and have a pet, you most likely go there. We run the Lone Star School of Music that is two doors up from Lakeway Vet Clinic and we are glad they are our neighbors. We have had teachers, customers and staff members bring their animals to the school (when their pets are feeling sick) knowing that the best vets in Lakeway are in walking distance. I have been taking my dog Abby there for years and have always had a good experience. They are so popular because their staff is quick, kind, knowledgeable and have great customer service. Thanks for all you do for our community.
The best vet I have ever been to. When our cat passed away, the whole matter was handled with the utmost respect and care. No one has ever tried to sell us unnecessary treatments or snake oil and our pets are still always treated with so much love. Its hard to find a good vet, but I hope everyone will visit this place and see how amazing all the staff are.
I took my dog to Lakeway Vet Clinic following another Vet doing a very poor job on my dogs injury. Dr. Stewart took excellent care in treating him. And charged LESS than the previous Vet. A week later my dog was healed and happy! Im happy too! Ive found my new forever Vet!!
Dr. Doyle has started to care much more about maximizing his money than your pets health. We showed up for an appointment for Dr Doyle to examine our dogs paws and see whats issue she has. When making the appointment, I was very clear with the receptionist that I wanted to see the Vet and I was clear to both her and the technician that I dont want them to give our dog a shot which worked in the past visit because the issues this time seemed different. After a few mins, The technician came back told me thats there was a miscommunication and the Vet was not available to see our dog, but they gave her the shot anyway because it worked in the past. She didnt even look at our dogs paws and was surprised when I told her again of the pas and pain in the dogs paws.I am very disappointed because they dont listen to your concerns or even look at the pets to see whats going on with them. They walked our dog to the treatment area give her a shot and bring her right back to me. They are more interested in maximizing their revenues by overselling their Vets time and selling customers expensive shots regardless of your pets need it a lot. They should know that without really care about our pets health, they wont have a thriving business for long.
We went to Lakeway Vet Clinic after waiting more than 5 hrs at an emergency vet in Austin and still not getting seen. The staff at Lakeway was AMAZING. The vet tech was friendly, and so thorough and thoughtful about the care she gave our pup. The vet was the same. Great quality of care - so appreciated in an emergency situation. Home now and feel good about the plan of action. Thank you!!
Dr. Mike Walker was amazing. He was honest, kind and compassionate. He took the time to explain our options and was very supportive. When we had to make the decision for euthanasia, he made sure that our 13 year old cat was comfortable and gave me and my young son time to love and honor his life before saying we were ready. His approach and bedside manner made the very difficult decision a little easier.
Had to take our fur baby in the middle of the night since she kept having seizures they took her in no problem.Allison was amazing she sat & explained to us what options we had to help her w/ her seizures. After her blood work & making sure everything was fine she then explained to us what was going on & what we had to do w/ the medications they were sending us. The doctor as well was really sweet they both answered every single question I had. Everyone we talked to here was really nice & sweet. Highly recommend coming here for your fur babies they will make sure they get the job done & do what’s best for your animals!
I came after hours with my dog after an accident at the park. They were extremely nice and knowledgeable. This was my first time having to run my dog to an emergency clinic and I was frantic about it. They walked me through, set with me and made sure I understood everything that was happening to me pups. I cant thank them enough!
Took my little puppy here for the first time and we had the most wonderful experience. From the first phone call at 430 in the morning all the way to saying goodbye we were met with kindness, compassion and reassurance. Both the staff and Dr. Morales were absolutely fantastic and my boy loved them so much he even was giving them kisses by the time we were done. The facility is great and the process was so quick and easy. If I ever need to take one of my babies to an emergency vet we will 100% be returning to Lakeway Veterinary Clinic!
I had to come here two days in a row with my dog. I was blown away with how fast we got in and out, how caring they were and just everything was wonderful. I’m so thankful i brought her here and I will 1000% be back if it’s ever necessary again. i highly recommend! I’m not sure my doctor or nurses names but two females and they were great. Thank you thank you!
Hands down the BEST veterinary office and staff! Everyone at the office is friendly, compassionate and knowledgable. They are very reasonable with costs for procedures and tests done and will not try to up sale any unnecessary care. No matter how busy the vet and staff are they make sure you and your furry friend are well taken care of. Dr. Miller is amazing, hes knowledgable and truly cares about animals. He took care of our dog during her sickest times and would personally update us and involve us in her care. Dr. Walker also took care of our dog a few times and is wonderful and very personable. There are to many vet techs to name each one because they are all outstanding! We are so lucky to have this vet clinic in our community with such amazing people to care for our pets!
Rand Doyle and his talented staff of Doctors and vet techs, set the bar for exemplary pet care in Austin. The customer service is consistently great. The employees are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Rand never runs from a challenge, when it comes to the welfare of furry family members. He loves animals and has a strange Crocodile Dundee way of communicating with them. I trust him more than my family physician.
Many thanks to Doctors Honas and Doyle. I had just adopted an adorable little 6 lb Yorkie mix. I wasnt clear on his diagnosis. They both sat down with me talked explained procedures and medicine. I am eternally grateful for the kind compassion and professionalism of the team!!!
This staff at Lakeway vet clinic saved my dogs life. I am so grateful to them. My elderly dog Lilly was rushed to Lakeway vet due to a horrific dog fight that left her mangled and lifeless. We called ahead explaining the circumstance and they were waiting at the front door to rush her back to be seen immediately. Everyone that worked on Lilly was amazing. They did everything humanly possible to save Lilly and kept us informed every step of the way. After 4 days of around the clock care, Lilly is out of the woods and now at home with us continuing her recovery. We feel so blessed they were there for Lilly and she was treated like a princess during her stay. Highly recommend this clinic for your family vet and for emergencies as well!
Our sweet Rose (big 9 month old puppy) had her back leg amputated on Monday in another town and when we got her back to Lakeway 4 days later, I took her to Lakeway Vet Clinic to make sure she was healing good. I was pretty overwhelmed and exhausted from not sleeping well because Rose wasnt happy about losing a leg. The staff at the clinic were absolutely AMAZING. From Tara at the front desk, to Chris who came out to the car to carry Rose in because I wasnt able to. Thank you! Wonderful Eric took us directly back to a room and quickly became Roses friend. He made me feel so much better about her wound being okay and he was excellent with her as well. Dr. Heidi Moore came in shortly after and did a thorough look over of Roses stitches and then she looked at me and said, heres how we are going to help. I was emotional because caring for her was much more than I anticipated, she was a puppy and didnt want to rest and let her leg heal. Dr. Moore put me at ease and I felt 110% better by the time I left. And Rose and I both slept great than night. An incredible, caring staff and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to anyone!!!
Dr. Honnas was amazing. I called her on a Sunday and she was very responsive even though it was a weekend. She came to my home Monday night after we decided my dog could not wait for an in person visit. She was caring, sensitive and knowledgeable. I ended up having to put my dog to sleep and her guidance during the most difficult time in my life couldn’t have been more appreciated. My extended family will be using her services and when the time is right for another dog, I will be coming straight to Dr. Honnas
We were so incredibly lucky to have found Dr. Honnas. She is extremely patient, detail oriented, professional, and most importantly, she treats our dogs as if they are her own. Our dogs are our family, and we know that they are in the absolute best hands with Dr. Honnas. She truly listens to your needs and concerns with your pets and takes the time to address them all; shes extremely thorough. If you are looking for a vet for your fur family, look no further than Dr. Honnas. I cant recommend her enough.
You will not find a more caring vet. Dr. Rand Doyle and his staff, plus all the doctors there have such compassion and are so knowledgeable. One of my kitties, Rosie was diagnosed with FIP (Wet), and given one week to live. With the help of Dr. Doyle and his staff, we were able to help Rosie live a wonderful life of 21 weeks after. Rosie touched everyone she came in contact with, and I owe her wonderful care to this vet. They are a very unique vet that loves what they do and it comes across in spades.
If I could give them 100 stars I would. My female was in desperate need of a csection they were our last hope and so very glad they were able too save the litter and momma. They were able to work with us financially, very friendly and professional staff environment was clean and professional. Once we picked up puppies we brought our own carrier but they let us take them in a carrier that they provided for no extra fee. Hands down one of the best veterinary experiences I’ve ever had I 100% recommended you go see dr.cheri honnas and dr.rand Doyle as well as the staff were wonderful people will definitely be going back. Words can’t explain how content I am with their service
We made our first appointment a few months ago when I noticed that my dogs tooth was broken. I had sent all my dogs vaccination records before the appointment. Front desk needs to be more organized because they still asking his records by email, even though I have sent them 3 times so far. I asked on the appointment day, they confirmed they had received it.I made an appointment for my dogs broken tooth to be pulled out, and I wanted dental cleaning done during the procedure as they would put him under anesthesia. However, when I went to pick up my dog, I saw that its teeth were cleaned, but they did not pull it out the broken one. The main purpose of the appointment was pulling the tooth. They said that X-ray was needed for tooth extraction. Ok. Then why wasnt it done? Putting him anesthesia is something I wouldnt do unless its necessary, because I know its risky. My dog had a 5 hour stay at the clinic, I dont understand why it wasnt done during that time. The doctor said he would be checked at the next appointment. Does it have to get infected or get worse?
Im new to the Austin and didn’t have an established vet for my pup. In an rush to save my pups life, Lakeway Vet saved my french bulldog and her pup. They are the most compassionate staff and understanding. Dr. Honnas and Dr. Smith, both were very responsive to my dogs emergency c-section. They understood my circumstances and helped me out tremendously! I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t find them.
We have been going to this vet since we moved in december 2011. So far our boxer who is 7 years old had a severe eye problem. When I called on the phone they said to bring him in, so we did. Dr. Doyle gave him drops with steroids in them which made his boxers ulcer worse. We made another appointment for his eye and they switched his medicine and this time told us they dont specialize in eyes and gave us the name of a great eye dr. Of course that was after they took my combined $400 for both visits and meds and did not help my dog at all. Then our dog had a hemotama in his ear, which he has had before. We went in and told the young vet Dr. Evanaf that he has had one before and the last vet drained it and it never came back. She proceeded to tell us that she never drains hematomas because they ALWAYS come back. She gave him a round of prednisone and convinced us this was the best option. Of course it did not work and we had to schedule yet another appointment where this time I demanded she drain the ear, give him antibiotics in case of infection. The moment before she drained my dogs ear I asked her how many of these she had done. Her answer was none, this is my first. But just two weeks before she told me how draining the ear NEVER works, yet she had never even performed this? Well it did work, 3 weeks later his ear is fine and I am out 250 bucks for both appointments when one would have been sufficient if she had done not only what we asked, but what we told her had worked the 1st time he had had one.I am not going to this vet anymore for two reasons and I would not recommend them ever. The first being that multiple appointment costs multiple dollars. They should have told me over the phone that they do not deal with eyes and sent me immediately to a specialist. The vet should have drained his ear the first time. The second reason, is that I called to let them know how disappointed I was with their service, spoke to the manager and she assured me that the owner would call me. Well its been a week since that call. So my money is good for them, but my satisfaction with their services seems to be something they dont care for at all.
Dr. Cheri Honnas took phenomenal care of my pug, Mac. He injured his spine and had to stay in the hospital for 5 days. We came to visit every day and each time Dr. Honnas would come into the room, sit on the floor with us and give us an update on Macs progress. His pain is completely under control now and he is safe at home!! We are so very appreciative for the compassionate care we received - well be moving all our pets to Dr. Honnas care.
Can I just say WOW WHAT AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! We had a scary situation happen with our youngest female husky and after calling multiple places which said they had no openings till june, This vet got my baby in Monday quickly and made the surgery appt for Friday. I have no doubt the surgery will go just as smoothly as getting her booked, Ill update my review then but for now this has been the most calming vet experience Ive had. I appreciate this clinic for being ready for anything us clients are throwing at them. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! (I personally was not with my dog for her first visit but my boyfriend who was way more nervous told me all about how much this place helped him, even allowed him in for the visit as well! I give 10 out of 5 stars just for making my family feel safe, taken care of and loved!)
Thank you to all the staff and especially Dr. Honnas for saving our Vladamir. We were turned away by four veterinary hospitals on Sunday prior to coming to Lakeway Veterinary Clinic - Dr. Honnas was the only one willing to squeeze our baby in and I cant tell you how much I appreciated it. He was in terrible shape and needed IV fluids and constant care.Wonderful service and fantastic care was given to our fur baby.
So very happy we found Dr. Cheri Honnas. The care she showed our baby was exactly what we needed. It is very hard to find a vet that cares and goes out of their way to take care of you and your baby. We found that in Dr. Honnas. She cared for Gracie for years and was with us until the very end.Thank you Dr. Honnas
This vet neglected to tell me serious information about my dogs health and now it might be causing her to lose her teeth.Last year I took my dog in for a checkup and was told that everything was looking great and all I needed to do was continue to give her medication. The vet at the time specifically mentioned that her teeth looked fine. For todays checkup, I was told that her teeth had critical tartar and she was in need of a major cleaning which may result in her teeth being removed. I asked if the vet could look up my dogs history, and the vet said that during her previous checkup they noted my dogs teeth were at a 3 out of 4 in terms of tartar buildup, but they never told me, nor did they mention anything about having her teeth cleaned. There was a six month delay between then and now that could have massively improved the health of my dog, but this vet clinic dropped the ball completely.
Today I took my 12 year old pup, Dodger, to Lakeway Veterinary Clinic for a rash. This was the first time I have used them, as I am switching from our previous vet due to proximity to our home. From the scheduling of the appointment to the actual visit itself, my experience was excellent. Everyone I dealt with was very professional and responsive. Dr. Heidi was extremely knowledgeable, thorough and cognizant with her recommendations of my boy being an older gentlemen. I was a little apprehensive about what the bill might be, as I had read reviews that they were pricey, but the price seemed in line with previous bills I have had with my dogs at other vets. And, a new clients first exam is free, which made today even more affordable. They have done a great job adjusting to Covid, and were very efficient even with the extra precautions they have to take from interviewing me over the phone about what the issue was to coming out to the car to get and deliver Dodger, to Dr. Heidi calling me to discuss her recommendations for his care. I couldnt be more pleased with my experience with Lakeway Veterinary Clinic and recommend them highly to anyone looking for a veterinary clinic. Thanks, Lakeway Veterinary Clinic! I will be back with my 2 other dogs, and plan on using you for care of my miniature donkeys as well.
My little Sugar was in distress having a hard time breathing. I called Lakeway Vet and made an appointment. When we arrived I was told a mistake was made and there was no appointment. I asked to see a vet and the lady told me they were 95 percent capacity. She gave me the number to AVES. This was extremely upsetting because she could she Sugar was very sick and I was visibly upset. I carried Sugar to the car and called AVES and was told they were at capacity. I picked Sugar up and ran back into Lakeway vet and told the girl AVES was full and Sugar needed to see a vet and again she told me they were 95 percent capacity. She then handed me the number to CTVSH. I said Sugar is very sick and needs to see a vet. I realized I was wasting precious time and called called CTVSH who were full. This was devastating as Sugar was getting worse and I felt so helpless. I called Terrell Animal Hospital and they took us even though Sugar had never been there before. They even were able to get us into AVES and Lakeway Vet didnt even try. We went to Lakeway vet for eight years and I have several dogs. My sweet girl passed away that night and I am glad in the end she was treated with kindness and compassion. Dr. Doyle had told me we were part of the family but they turned us away as Sugar was dying. Lakeway Vet let Sugar down when she needed them the most and I am heartbroken over this.
When I get in front of a vet, the quality of care is so professional and I feel like they really care so much. They treat us really well and their bedside manner is wonderful. I also really appreciate the fact that they allow me to use my online vet pharmacy. Unfortunately, the administrative side is not the same level of quality. It seems like the clinic is just so overwhelmed by the sheer volume of patients that they arent able to provide good quality service. I fill my dogs prescriptions through an online pharmacy, but they can never get approvals in a timely manner and I have had times where I have had to ration my dogs medications until I can finally get his refills approved. Its disheartening to feel like this is treated as a minor administrative task because it is literally life or death for my dog as he is a senior dog and relies on his medication quite a bit. When I call, Im often on hold for a really long time, if the line isnt too busy to connect. I dread bringing my dog in these days because I know its going to be a huge time commitment. First, just to connect with someone to let them know we have arrived and for them to come out and pick up my dog takes quite a while. On my last visit, when I dropped off my dog, they estimated he would be done in 20 mins. I ran an errand and came back and when I called (and was put on hold for about 30 mins just to talk to someone) I asked how long it would be before my dog would get done and they told me they had no way to find out. An hour and a half later, they finally called me to let me know he was ready. When I do drop my dog off for the day, they always tell me that they will call me when he is ready, but never do. I always wait until they are almost about to close and then call to ask if hes ready yet, and it seems like hes been ready for a while and I could have picked him up long before they told me. On several occasions I have asked them to email me information about my dogs visit and they say they will, but I have to ask multiple times before they actually do it. Since the pandemic has started, I havent gotten to actually talk to a vet once. My dog has a serious heart condition and Ive had a couple of very expensive evaluations with absolutely no conversation with the vet about what they observed in their evaluation. Its really frustrating to feel like Im just bleeding money to them without any insight into what they have observed. I have never felt more like just a number.
The doctors and staff at Lakeway Veterinary Clinic are above and beyond amazing! We ended up at LVC late on a Friday night after being told at another emergency vet clinic that our dogs vitals were fine and if we wanted to wait 4 hours we could but he seemed fine. Trusting my gut I decided to take him somewhere else. I called ahead and knew there was going to be a long wait but the staff was so nice and came out and took my pup in to get him checked out.Turns out his heart rate was at over 300 bpm and he needed emergency intervention. The staff dropped everything and made sure he was as stable as possible. Dr. Natalie then called me and informed me of the situation. She allowed me to come in and say goodbye to him before heading home as it was pretty critical and we were not sure how he would do through the night. Luckily, Maddie, the AMAZING tech, spent all night by him and making sure he was ok. Maddie and Dr. Natalie continued to provide me updates and made sure I knew what was going on. They assured me they were doing everything and despite how critical the situation was they still made me feel calm and like everything would be ok.Dr. Natalie was able to pull some stings and get a critical ultrasound done over the weekend when it would typically have to wait until Monday. Had they not been so wonderful and helpful my pup wouldn’t be here today. The next day they allowed my family to come up and see our pup. He was allowed to sit outside with us and relax for a bit so we could see how he did. Maddie was leaving after being at work forever but still made the time to come over and tell us how he was doing, let us know what type of food he was eating, etc. That evening when speaking with Dr. Heidi she let me know that he wasn’t really eating and I asked if I could have some grilled chicken delivered. She was super supportive and allowed me to have some sent over, which apparently he loved. I’ve never seen a more caring practice.I will refer anyone here that has a vet emergency and only wish it was a little closer so we could have all our care here. Our family and Louie will forever be grateful for your assistance and care and love of our sweet boy.
The care is good. Their administration is inadequate. If you love being put on hold for 20 minutes before they address the medication that you came for as you hang out in their parking lot, then you will love that they will forget you as well. Have heard of plenty of great veterinary hospitals otherwise nearby. If you are considering this place, at least shop around. I sat today here in the parking lot from 4:15- 5:30 to pick up my dog after surgery. She was ready at 4pm.Sad....12/23 I am changing my review because of a apologetic phone call this morning from Dr. Doyle. He was genuinely concerned.I also own a small business, and know how critical your standing is on the internet. All the best to you.
Proven over the last few years to be shady and inadequate. Horrible experiences with rude staff and LONG wait times when you have an appointment. I’ve had to wait 90 minutes multiple times just to see Dr. Doyle after I specifically made an appointment to accommodate HIS time. The lack of awareness is shocking. Taking in WAY too many dogs for the amount of staff and size of building. Zero communication or accountability.Y’all handed me my dog back shaking and crying and told me he was taken care of with all smiles. Also informed me that the last groomer was fired for abusing animals. SHADY!
Weve had the pleasure of the Lakeway staff making ranch calls to tend to our pigs, and brought a baby goat to the clinic for testing. Everyone is always so kind and caring toward our critters.Given the pandemic, its curbside only and theyre swamped. Wait it out, the exceptional care given to your pet is worth it. Dr Moore and the entire staff are the best!
My cat came in with alot of issues they ran a million tests I paid over $600 dollars. They came up with inconclusive results. They gave medicine for his eyes and they never got better. I called asked the receptionist to consult the vet she said she would put a note in the chart for the night vet who saw him. I called later that night wondering why I never got a call back they said she never put a note and they would not ask the vet about the medicine she gave and why it wasnt working or what else to do. They then said they would they wanted to charge me more to bring him in again even though it had been only a week. These people are hacks terrible vets poor customer service and dont care about your animal they only want more money. Your pet will probably die going here and they will rob you blind. If I could give zero stars I would.
2/28/2021 update: My original review was 1 star. I’ve left my original review below so that others can see why I had issues. However, I updated my review to 3 stars (not 5 because hey, things aren’t perfect YET, but I’m hopeful!). Dr. Doyle personally called me and was extremely apologetic and willing to try to address any grievances. He came over to my house (no charge) and examined each of my three dogs, provided next steps for their care, and I was able to get a better understanding of their health/my concerns. He seems willing (and is actively working on ways) to increase administrative/front desk staff and has added another groomer, which I truly hope will alleviate a lot of the waiting/holding/frustrations experienced by myself and others. Dr. Doyle was very knowledgeable and helpful and truly wanted to address any shortcomings. I’m willing to give it another shot! I even picked up some medication today and only waited 5-10 minutes. Progress!Original Review: We are new to the area and Lakeway Vet was highly recommended. I cannot for the life of me figure out why that is. I have three dogs who recently all had check ups and grooming visits. Of the three dogs, I spoke to a vet once about one dog. The others I assume are fine but who actually knows? The groomer is 1) not very pleasant and 2) keeps my dogs all day. How does a 6lb senior yorkie need to be kept from 8-6 to get groomed? Don’t get me started on trying to get someone on the phone (immediate hold anywhere from 5-20 minutes) or the drop off/pick up procedures. I just waited over an hour in the parking lot just to pick up my dog from the groomer. Sitting in the parking lot. With my two kids. And did they apologize for the delay? That is a big NO. Never again. My time is valuable too, even if I’m not a DVM. That’s a lot of business to lose simply because of really sh*tty customer service. And yes, the new texting system was in place as I write this. It’s still horrendous.
I love Lakeway Vet! I made the terrible mistake of switching to a different vet that was closer to my house, and will never do that again. After a year of nothing but issues with this other vet office, I’m back to Lakeway Vet Clinic & still feel like they truly care about my pet and value my business. I will never take my dog anywhere else again. 10/10 customer service to Jonathan, too!
From the moment I met Dr Rand Doyle I knew he would be my forever vet. He is compassionate, loving, funny and honest. His love for our fur babies is expressed in more ways than one could imagine. I met him frantically over my pup who was having GI issues. He got him back healthy and assured me that Chance would be just fine. Most recently I took a foster dog and again the same love was provided. The staff are just as great & patient when dog parents are frantic. Thank you all for the exemplary work you provide.
I can not say enough positive things about their emergency clinic. My dog was coughing, lethargic, not eating or drinking and overall feeling crummy. It started on a Friday evening and our vet couldnt see him until Monday. After speaking to our vet they recommended we take him to an emergency vet just incase it was more serious. I called 8 other emergency clinics and all either were not taking any patients or had a 4+ hour wait (one was even an 8-10hr wait!) But Lakeway got us in in under 2 hours with an appointment (which was so nice to not have to sit around in our car) and saw our fur baby right away. The staff was very comforting and professional and they took great care of our baby. Considering it was an emergency after hours visit I was expecting to spend a lot of money but I thought thier prices were more than fair! We left owning less than $300 including blood work and meds. I recommend them 100x over!
Dr. Doyle and his staff are amazing. My cat had a very persistent ear infection that they all gave the best care and attention to - at one point we were coming in once a week for checkups to make sure she was healing well and Heather and Dr Doyle made it all so easy and took such great care of her. They truly care for your pets as if they are their own while treating you like family too!
I really like the vet care for my animals that I receive at Lakeway Vet Clinic. But, I do not understand why I set an appointment. I am sitting in parking lot at 30 minutes past my appointment time and still waiting. And, I am one of 2 vehicles in the parking lot. Also, why should anyone sit on the phone for almost 10 minutes in the parking lot waiting to check in. Why not set up a texting process to check in ~ easy, simple, appointments by phone to flag vet techs to presence and appointment details. As an added review note, I find that the clinic prices are increasing and was charged a separate vet technician fee. I have never seen that before.
Great for emergency care, and caring staff who allow you to book an actual appointment, which isnt true of many ER options in CTX. However, they didnt provide a written summary of after-visit care steps as another er had none previously, and none of the staff that I interacted with wore masks, which was very uncomfortable and so simple to rectify.
We think the clinic and most of the staff is excellent. A definite 5 star facility. However, some training of front desk personnel is needed. May be the result of Post Covid. I went into to drop off my dog. I waited patiently until the front desk acknowledged me. The guy on the desk never did. He was starring at his computer. I grew up in a world where someone receiving customers would look up and say ‘ one moment please’ or at least signal you to wait. Not this guy. I guess he assumed I could read his mind. It wasn’t until a trained front desk work came from the back office that I got some guidance.
We had never been here until our little guy (Havanese) cut his chest open a good 6 inches on a landscape divider (one in a million chance accident). Dr. Natalie was amazing! Jesse (tech) was perfect...he is a total bonus to this clinic! Our little guy is almost completely healed thanks to these guys!
We used to love Lakeway Vet Clinic and was our preferred vet. We referred a few friends and neighbors there, thats how much we loved them. The last few times that we had to take our dog, the wait time in the car is horrible (20 mins or more wait time) WITH an appointment... my dog got so nervous that she had pee in the car the last two times weve been waiting there for her to be seen. This is not ok, my dog is there because she doesnt feel good, not for a social visit.Once we finally made it, at the end of the visit I really didnt have a good understanding of what the diagnosis is/was and what the next steps are. My interactions are with the technicians bringing our whatever meds -if needed- and to tell me that someone will call me to check me out.Not to mentioned they put the rabies vaccine on my dog, although she wasnt due until a couple of years from now... and wanted to charge me for a vet exam -which they had done three weeks prior when they applied her yearly round of vaccines. We are taking our business elsewhere as we are still dealing with the same issue that Lakeway vet has seen my dog for the last 3 times and hasnt been able to tell us what the issue is... even after $400 + in visits and labs
Seems like a great place for pets; however their phone service is TERRIBLE. I routinely have to call to get them to approve a refill of seizure meds for my dog. Consistently put on hold for 15-20 minutes and they do not communicate well with outside online pharmacies. I constantly have to prod them to approve hoping my meds dont run out in the mean time. Room for improvement.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Doctors, Technicians, and all of the staff at Lakeway Veterinary Clinic! I didnt have a vet for my animals yet and due to unusual behavior in my 4yo cat, I was desperate on a Sunday morning to find a highly regarded clinic. I am so glad I found these guys. Dr. Honnas treated my kitty, Jerry, who had a urinary blockage. They needed to keep him for 2 days. This was a little over a week ago and my baby is home and healthy and 100% back to normal. I had so many questions along the way and they were always addressed promptly. One of the ladies even offered to bring ice to me when I unexpectedly had to wait for a second set of medication after picking up groceries. This facility is super professional, so, so clean and the doctors are top notch. Thanks for taking such good care of our baby boy!!
Staff was so sweet in taking care of my pupper after hours. Was great that they didnt charge an after hours premium like a lot of the pet ERs do. They charge a few dollars more for the exams but everything else is regular price. Very helpful, nice, accommodating staff.
A couple of days ago my dog got attacked by another dog and had a hole ripped in his face, right under his eye. Being a Sunday, my regular vet being across town and having no time to waste I Googled emergency vets near me. The closest was Lakeway Vetinary Clinic and I had to hope for the best.Of course I was very worried when I called the LVC to check that they could fit us in. The staff answered the phone immediately and were very calming and helpful in what was a very stressful time. They told me to bring my dog straight there and they would be waiting in the parking lot for me to arrive, which they were. Because of COVID, they took my dog straight inside and despite his injury he I could tell he had taken a great liking to the staff as they walked him to the door.I was pretty nervous while I sat outside waiting, but staff called and the doctor came out to see me numerous times and it felt like they updated me at every available opportunity, which put my mind at rest enormously. The staff were very compassionate and explained everything thoroughly but in simple terms. My dog needed a surgical procedure, so he was in there for several hours. When he came out he was still groggy due to the anesthesia but it obvious that he was well cared while inside because his tail was high in the air and he was not at all perturbed by his experience.Despite his injuries, the surgical team did an absolutely excellent job of stitching him up. They gave me simple oral instructions on medications and onward care until full recovery, and printed the instructions as well, which was excellent because due to my worry I didnt really absorb everything they said at the time. While I sat waiting in the parking lot, I was amazed at how many animals came and went. Every single vehicle that came in was attended to in seconds rather than minutes, and every one with the care, compassion and professionalism that I received. All of the staff were clean and well presented, and was the building and environs. It is obvious why this vetinary practice is so busy; because it is excellent.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Dr. Doyle and the staff were exceptional. I have had vets for many years over several geographies. This one stands above them all in loving kindness, care and professionalism. It is the first vet clinic that smells clean and fresh. Pricing is excellent for the value and quality of care. My dog was calm and responded so well. Very pleased.
Zach made an immediate great first impression. Just the way he touched Bama showed me that he cared about him. And how could you not be impressed by Dr. Honnas? She looked me right in the eye and gave me a firm handshake. All with that beautiful smile. She treated Bama just as Zach had - with tenderness and compassion. I immediately trusted her and hired her to be my veterinarian. My only regret is that I didnt find you sooner.
We had a late night emergency with our 3 year old kitty. He is our baby, so I was practically in hysterics when I noticed he was coughing and having trouble breathing. we looked up 24/7 clinics and the nearest one (this one) was an hour away. I called and explained the situation and asked if needed an apt. they said no and to head over right away. When we arrived they came right out to the car and grabbed his carrier. They didn’t even make us fill out paperwork before they brought him in. they took him straight into an oxygenated kennel and took his vitals then brought out a clipboard for information. We were so impressed. Every person we interacted with was incredibly kind and knowledgeable and we could tell they all genuinely cared about saving our fur baby’s life. because of covid we couldn’t come in with him but someone was on the phone explaining things practically the whole 3 hours we were there. the Vet was fantastic and walked us through everything she wanted to do for him, she also gave us the price of everything before she did it. We were able to bring him home before the end of the night. they even directed us to a whataburger nearby while we waited if we were hungry! She mentioned that if he took a turn for the worst we could bring him back in that night for no extra fee. It has been a couple of weeks and he is almost 100% himself again. I wish we lived closer because I would love to bring both our kitties here for all their care. We may make the drive anyways! To those who helped our kitty, thank you so much!
The staff and vets at the clinic are great. Dr. Doyle has put together a great team that we have total confidence in. They are able to access specialists when needed but still maintain the great local clinic feel. The clinic can have someone see pets in an emergency situation 24/7 which is also a major asset. Look no further than Lakeway Vet Clinic for your furry friends.
My fur baby had some stitches that busted and it was after hours on a Sunday. All of the emergency vet centers in Round Rock had a 4 hour wait. I found this gem on Google and the rest was history. They stapled my buddy up and cleaned him up within 25 minutes. Super affordable and super friendly. Thank you so much!
This was my first visit , I just want to say I’m very thankful for the service I got from this veterinarian clinic because I was freaking out because my baby was so sick & I honestly didn’t know what to do. The vet technician DaQuin(hopefully I spelt that correctly) & Dr. Miller did amazing with my puppy!!❤️& they were so welcoming, calm & VERY Considerate!! Telling me the news of my baby having a strong case of parvo at one years old was very hard because it’s a very deadly virus!!! My baby has been getting lots of rest but is feeling so much better!! Thanks to them!! Also kept me in a affordable budget, & that’s always a plus when bring your baby’s to a vet !! I Definitely will be backk!!
I felt very welcomed upon entering Lakeway Vet for our first visit. Everyone that I met was great and informative. The tech took my finches into an inside room for a nail trim and returned with them moments later with info regarding their care. I have definetely found our Vet!Update: I have been so pleased with the care that Dr. Mason and the staff have given my birds that I have continued with Lakeway Veterinary and no other! They are professional, kind, patient and knowledgeable in their care and affordable too----what more could I ask for? Just love them!
Over the years, two Vets have been wonderful for my 14 yr old dog, Twinkle, one was from U of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital, who has since moved on, she healed his skin issues when I thought no one EVER could AND the other one was Dr Heidi Moore who saved his life. He is taking 4 different medications but he is like a whole new dog, very alert and full of life. Less than a year ago he spent a day in their oxygen chamber and started meds that day and ever since he is doing awesome. I highly recommend her.
Very quick. Got there early; the tech came out and picked up Shylo to remove stitches. Brought him back soon after. Said a bit of blood due to stabbing and to use peroxide and neosporin cream on nose. I did. All good and the whole trip was only 20 minutes! Thank you. More cream in a bit as nose looks a bit raw.Hes a happy camper now, has been very patient through all this and if I ever see a porcupine again. Woe betide.
My dog fell off my deck on Mothers Day and I was frantic! I live in Kingsland and could not find anyplace open. I called this clinic and they told me to bring my fur baby in their staff would assist. My husband and I were greeted by the front desk in a friendly and quick manner. We were seen by Dr. Nimmo and I was pleasantly surprised with her ability to calm my dog and exam her. This Dr. was incredible!! She was so friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to explain every detail to us. Although this is not our regular vet, I will not hesitate to bring my dog back here for the other services they provide. Highly recommend!!
This place was awesome. Dr. Michael Walker and all the rest of the staff were very friendly and seemed to genuinely care for the well being of my little girl. I really like the decor in the place. My dog got her leg caught in the fence and rolled until circulation was cut off. When I got to her I had to cut her out of the fence and had no idea how long blood supply had been cutoff to her leg. She was already a tripod and there was a lot of fear she may lose another leg. Luckily they saved her leg. They also have some complementary adult beverages in the waiting room. Im not much of a drinker but it was nice to have a beer and calm my nerves while waiting to hear if my tripod was going to be a bipod. Thank you Lakeway vet!!!
2 years ago this Thanksgiving, we had to say goodbye to our beloved best friend and 4 legged family member, due to cancer. Dr Rand came to our home on that last day, sat in the grass with us petting him and letting us say goodbye in our time and way. He then helped carry his box to the gravesite and got down into the grave to help us lay him to rest. Dr Rand went over and beyond for our best friend and for us.It was clear how devoted he is to animals and the deep love he has for his work. We still talk about that day sometimes, and how his being there and how he supported us all, made such a big difference. We recently made a donation to addicus, his partner rescue org, to honor the work he does and thank him.
For the most part, Dr. Doyle is a great vet however, services and communication have declined during this pandemic. I was told today to pick up medicine that would be left at the front desk and when I entered, with my mask on have you, I was treated like I had leprosy or something by the two people sitting in the dark at the front desk as they coward back and screamed for me to get back in my car and call them, even after I explained why I was there and was instructed to pick it up at the front desk from the other doctor that Ive never met, fyi, and that happened after waiting 20 minutes on hold returning her call. The transaction took place and the meds were placed on the table, outside in the rain and there was no attendant to help so had I not been watching??? I am so over this corona hysteria and no longer appreciate waiting in the car while strangers come take my non human family member inside and to do who knows what.?? I dont wait in the car at the pediatrician to come take my child in the doctors office, why let someone take my dog? If this doesnt change soon Im going elsewhere.
I came home last night to my 6 week old kitten barely breathing laying in my dogs kennel. I live in spicewood, so the onmadeeople available were lakeway. We called before going, explained the situation, how far we were and the technician tells my husband to come by call and they will help. Sadly my baby was is critical condition, and saving her life could cost me up to 1000 dollars. Im low income, so I knew I couldnt even afford a exam from this place. I tell the vet, she just needs to pass, and Ill take her home to bury her. I explained to the technition that it would be nice to put her out of her misery and euthanize her. Tech says its gonna be 201 for the nights adventure. I tell them I have less than 50 dollars to my name until next Wednesday and she comes out saying oh well the vet wants to cover the drugs to put her to sleep. Next thing I know the tech is out there telling me that they have to get something from me as payment that her vet and herself can get in alot of trouble for no payment is made, and that who ever was talking on the phone with my husband told him how much an overnight fee just to exam would be, and he says the lady never told him that. I gave my last 20 dollars for fast to that lady and then she proceeds to tell me she is going to send me an invite for the rest of the bill to my email. How heartless could these people be for knowing my situation and seeing what Im going thru to make me feel even more guilty that I couldnt pay to put my kittens suffering to an end, let alone the money for the 10% chance of her making it in life. Horrible situation to be in. But I know now that I cant trust a overnight place to save my animals because im a low income American. So if you have money to save your animals, you better bring them here cause money is the only thing that might save them. God luck.
My cat had a scab get infected over the holidays & LVC was able to quickly see her on a Saturday afternoon. So nice to not have to drive all the way into Austin to see a vet on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone there was very happy & friendly. They were able to clean-up & treat my kitty while I hung out across the street. It was great that I could come pick her up even late on a Saturday instead of leaving her over night. She is my sons cat & he was already stressed about her being sick. Even though she had to stay overnight in my closet (her location of choice) he was glad to see her home & doing great. Ive had some frustrating vet experiences in Austin so Im very pleased to find one I trust & understands pet emergencies seem to rarely happen during regular business hours!
They are like family. Dr. Rand is one of the best people I’ve ever met and am happy to now call him a friend. Caught a difficult to diagnose issue with our dog that probably extended his life for 2 years. Highly recommend especially for any animal with chronic illness
A Vet You Can TrustThe Lakeway Vet Clinic is the best place to bring your dogs. To start off the techs are very helpful with answering questions. You can even send them a picture and they will let you know if you should bring them in or not. Its the type of clinc where you can call over the phone tell them what is going on and they will actually give you answers instead of saying bring your pet in and well see what we can do. Dr. Hannas is the BEST of the BEST. She is smart and caring. We had to bring our pup in multiple times after his neuter and she was kind and did not charge us for the visits and took extra steps to ensure he was safe. She even gave us her personal number for check ins. If you are looking for a Vet in the Lakeway area you cannot do better than the Lakeway Vet Clinic and ask for Dr. Haannas.
My 12 year old chihuahua managed to rip a claw off, and the whole staff at this clinic went above and beyond. Ive been with opie since the day he was born and I was freaking out about the amount of blood loss, even during covid they were able to take care of opie AND chill me out at the same time. Just moved to lakeway from the city so we hadnt found a new local vet yet, this place came in clutch. 10/10 would recommend
Dr Doyle is awesome. His staff very friendly office very clean. And he’s open on sat and sun The best vet office I have ever seen. Dr gave me his cell if I had any problems. He explained everything. Helped me keep tab on cost of visit so I could stay with in budget and not hard sales either. I won’t ever go to another office since I found them. Thank you Dr Doyle and amazing staff. U just got a patient for life. If u need a vet go see Dr Doyle and his staff. They really care.
Our Bella Weenie (mini dachshund) was attacked by something in the greenbelt after she slipped out of what we thought was a puppy proof fence. We dont typically use Lakeway Veterinary Clinic and learned (in a panic) that they handle emergencies 24/7. We rushed Bella Weenie to LVC and they took her in right away. She was in shock and there was lots of blood. This was our first emergency with eight pets and my husband and I were scared we were going to lose her because of the blood loss and bit wounds. Dr. Walker and the team at LVC were INCREDIBLE and they took amazing care of our little, adventurous puppy. X-rays, sutures, drain tube, emergency after hours visit, follow up, etc. were needed. Honestly, I KNEW we were looking at a BIG bill and that made us a little nervous but we wanted to make sure Bella Weenie was okay. When they told us the cost of everything, it was HALF of what I was expecting so that made us a little less stressed. Everyone there was wonderful and handled everything safely during covid19. Thank you, Lakeway Veterinary Clinic for just being awesome and available to our community! :)
I took our dog in for yearly check up and shots, this was our first visit to this clinic. We saw Dr. Andrews and her tech, they were both GREAT! Our dog is a bit skittish and they spent the time to calm her down, Easy Cheese worked like a charm :) We had a lengthy conversation about her health and how to improve it moving forward.Well definitely continue to take our pets to Dr. Andrews.
Sharp Vets and resonable prices. I took my 17 year old pug Lady there several years ago for dry eye condition and contrary to what other vets in the area told me, that nothing could be done other than apply saline, they prescribed a medication which helped to restart tear production. We lost her last year but replaced her with two other little rescue pugs which will both now be totally under the care of the Lakeway vets. I could not be more pleased with them and give them a high recommend.
This place is the absolute best. From anything as minor as allergies to major surgery, this clinic is run so well and each of the doctors and staff members weve seen are so thorough, knowledgeable, and compassionate. I literally drive to Lakeway from my house in Pflugerville because these guys are the best.
After a terrible experience with another local vet, I was lucky to find Lakeway Veterinarian! Dr. Zeda was so compassionate and understanding about my concerns over what my cat had gone through, and he also allowed me to stay with her and comfort her during her exam. The girls in the front office could be a bit warmer to their clients and little patients. But as long as I get great vet care, with a veterinarian that I know I can trust, and that cares for my pet, thats what matters most to me.
We take our two orange cats here and they are great. Visits are fast, I love how the office is divided into a dog side and a cat side which helps with our cats stress. The care they have received has been just right and the costs remain pretty low because they are good at what they do!
I had to take my lab here at midnight one night because he just seemed off and very ill. I called on the way and the lady at the desk was super helpful and buzzed me in when I got there. They took very good care of him and called him my kiddo :) haha. They came to the conclusion that he ate something he wasnt supposed to and offered to keep him over night and give him fluids. They even brought him back out so I could give him a kiss goodbye for the night and when we picked him up in the morning he was feeling back to normal. Morning staff was also very nice when we picked him up as well. Highly recommend for the best doggy care in the area.
Ive used Lakeway Veterinary Clinic for the past four years. The Doctors are so nice and knowledgeable. Dr. Doyle is wonderful. Both dogs I have taken here have had health issues, and I have always felt so comfortable entrusting their care to Lakeway Veterinary Clinic. They are always accommodating when I need a last minute appointment. Highly recommend.
Kristin Mason is one of the most well informed vets I have worked with. She has been there for me in emergencies with my horses and my small animals as well. She is very straight forward which I like and it makes my decisions on how I want her to proceed easier, I highly recommend her,
Ive been using Lakeway veterinary clinic since I moved here in 1997. I dont know what it is but they charge an arm and a leg compared to other places. I guess because were in Lakeway they think that they can charge more money. Dont get me wrong, I love how they care for my animals. But, youre paying more for great care, when it shouldnt matter where you are to get that. My two cents.
What an absolute joy out of a horrible experience. Dr Walker was mind, personable, and really made me feel comfortable. His techs were knowledgeable and compassionate. My little Bug was attacked by my other dog, and they treated him like gold. He called me during the sedation to let me know what he was doing, and also called me again to make sure I didn’t want him to do a dental procedure, which to me, just shows care and attention to detail. I’m so impressed.
This review is way overdue! Five Stars are not enough. Dr. Doyle and his team deserve a 10 Star Review! From the moment I met Dr. Doyle, I knew that I would never use another Veterinarian. He is kind, gentle and extremely calming to both the pet and pet owner. Dr. Doyles staff is incredibly knowledgeable and professional. Look no further, go see Dr. Doyle and his caring staff.
Lakeway is the BEST Veterinary service I have ever experienced! They treated my pups problem with professionalism and compassion at an exceedingly reasonable cost! As long as I and my dogs live in this area, we will never need choose any other vet. The ladies there are great and the experience was fantastic for my entire family! WONDERFUL!!!
This is our second vet we found in the Lakeway / Bee Cave area and they are just amazing. Very knowledgeable veterinarians, helpful staff and extremely competitive prices. The staff is exceptionally helpful and compassionate. Its clear they have a passion for helping animals and it shows. Wouldnt even consider going anywhere else.
We have experienced a lot of vets over the years, but Dr. Rand Doyle is just amazing. He makes sure his patients have his mobile number because it kills him to think that they might have a question or concern late at night and cant get an immediate answer. Plus, he is truly a huge animal lover, which we think is critical in a vet. Bonus: The last time we were there, he walked us back out to the lobby and then interacted with three little kids (who were thrilled to see him) by chasing them playfully around the waiting room. Plus, it doesnt hurt that he refers to our dogs as, your babies.
We came to lakeway veterinary clinic after our vet of 2 yrs was just not getting the job done for our little 4 yr old lab Winston. His allergies were getting worse and we were getting no answers. We brought Winston in to see Dr Doyle and we were impressed with Dr Doyle immediately. He has an effervescent personality and a passion for animals and his profession like no vet youve ever met. You can tell that he loves all animals as if they were his own and he does everything he can to make your pet comfortable. Our Winston is always nervous at the vet and Dr Doyle got down on the floor with him and loved on him and then took him for a walk out in the back yard of his facility for 10 minutes to make him feel comfortable. Name another vet that does that.We told Dr Doyle how our boys allergies had gotten much worse after our previous vet told us to take him off the apoquel after he had been given a shot of cyto point because the two could dangerously counteract one another. This is where Dr Doyle first shined with his amazing knowledge, telling us that there was no chance of that as the two drugs worked on different receptors. He told us to go back on the apoquel and that he wanted us to bring Winston in every other day for 2 weeks so he could have him bathed with Douxo shampoo. We did as told and after 2 weeks his allergies had subsided and much of the hair he had lost was beginning to return. We also found out that Dr Doyle studied chemistry and biology on his way to becoming a vet. Pretty impressive and it shows in his knowledge. Quite the triple threat indeed.About a month later our boy was beginning to throw up routinely after eating. We were feeding him Merrick a very high quality dog food for the last 2 yrs and for the first time he was beginning to not like it and to throw up frequently. We brought him back in and Dr Doyle put him on the Royal Canin ultamino Diet as he surmised that he had probably become allergic to something in the Merrick brand. Our boy seems to love the ultamino and has not thrown up again. He also cured our boys constant ear infections which our other vet couldnt by giving him ear drops that you put in his ears once a week for 2 weeks as opposed to drops that you have to use daily and these drops work for 45 days. He also noticed that our boy had acid reflux and gave him famotidine which worked like a charm. Dr Doyle is very patient and friendly and his knowledge is mind boggling. He loves when you ask questions and he always has an idea of whats going on or how to get there. Also Dr Doyles staff is one of the friendliest, and hardest working I have ever seen. Everyone on his staff is a big animal lover and very knowledgeable. He also has 3 other very accomplished vets on his staff and one day when he wasnt there we met Dr Moore who was also very friendly , knowledgeable and took great care of our little boy. We are glad we found Dr Doyle and his clinic. It is such a pleasure to finally deal with a vet who has such extensive knowledge and passion and who takes it very personally when it comes to diagnosing, treating and loving your pet. He is a wonderful man , an incredible vet and both an animal person and a people person. He is as charming and loving with animals and their owners as he is passionate, astute and ubiquitous in his profession. Dr Doyle is a superstar in the veterinary profession of the same caliber that Dr Fred J Epstein was in the the neurosurgeon profession. We have also dealt with Dr Seda who is an extremely knowledgable and friendly vet and who is just wonderful with pets. Our little winston gets excited every time he sees him.If you want your pet to be in the most capable, loving, knowledgeable and passionate hands then Dr Doyle and Lakeway veterinary clinic are the place to go. If however your pet is more like a vase that you stick in a corner and forget about, then this review and this exemplary clinic will be wasted on you
I cannot say enough GREAT things about Dr. Mike Walker and staff!!! Not our regular vet however when my Bichon was suddenly ill on Friday night they took us right away and took fantastic care of my princess. Also did a really super job of calming down the princesss mommy. ;) HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend!!! Thank you Dr. Walker!!!!!
I have been a client at Lakeway Vet Clinic since moving to the area. I cant say enough about Dr. Skinner and her staff. From the front desk to the boarding facilities in back and everyone in between you will find nothing but a bunch of caring and helpful people. Like most pet owners my pet is a big part of my family and I want to be sure he gets the best care available even when I am not around. I have recommended Dr. Skinner and her clinic to all my friends and have never had a negative response. If you are looking for someone to take good care of you and your pet this is the place!
My cats former vet closed their location. We heard good things about Lakeway Veterinary Hospital, so we stopped by for a look. We ended up making an appointment for our elderly cat, Lucy. The vet, Heidi Moore, was very helpful and kind. Most importantly, Lucy liked her!
Bad Drs, all they care about is $$$....They let my dog die! They were so concerned to collect money upfront the minute we began to discuss treatment. My sick dog lying on the floor in pain while they run me up an estimate of about $1200 for overnight care and meds. After leaving my dog there over 24 hrs and paying everything upfront they still kept calling me the next day to get more money to do more “test”. So when I stopped agreeing to give more than $1500 for the pitiful care they gave my dog he “suddenly died” just an hour before I was supposed to come pick him up! Something is not right at this clinic. Only they know what happened. I would Never take any pet here ever again.
I took my cat in for a check up and she had a few issues, they did a blood test and found that her kidneys were failing. I had used another vet for my other cats and knew that meant she didnt have long to live. They suggested a medication that may work that I had never known about. They showed me how to give my cat the pill and when a follow visit would be needed. They were more than kind and easy to talk with.
Dr Rand Doyle and his nurse Heather SAVED my service dogs life after multiple frantic visits to other veterinarians who failed to take my observations seriously. Heather demonstrated extraordinary patience and compassion while extracting medical details from this traumatized owner/handler.Dr Doyle and Heather shared Gods love and presence through their actions. I love them...true stewards
I took my 14 year old Toy Poodle, Stella to meet Dr. Rand Doyle today. Stella has Intravascular Hemolytic Anemia and has been on Medications for that for 4 years now. She was recently put on heart Medications also for an enlarged Heart and now she is suffering from a Collapsed Trachea! It sounds like a lot but she’s really active and walks 3 miles a day with me without coughing!!! She’s really active and very happy!! I want her quality of life to be great and I was extremely impressed with these physicians and their assistants!! Dr Doyle made me feel at ease and definitely knew what he was talking about ! Great Practice ALL around AND they are open 24/7 what else can you ask for ?? Thank You ALL for your care and concern !
I have taken my dog there several times for grooming and EVERY TIME there has been a problem with how long they have taken. They will tell me, for example, to leave her from 10-2 but they wont be done with her until 4pm! 6 hours for a grooming appointment is SO unacceptable. When I go to pick her up I have to wait another 30 minutes because they didnt do it right and her little nails always have blood on them.Yesterday they gave me an appointment for today at 10am and said she would be the only one. When I dropped her off they told me to pick her up at 1pm. I was there at 1pm and they HAD NOT even cut her hair or groomed her at all. They told me that the groomer had called at 1030am and said she would be there at 11am, so they waited for her until 1130am and she had not shown up. Instead of calling me to let me know the girl at the front desk went to lunch. When I walked in to pick up my dog the girl at the front desk told me to hold on and Lorie said im sorry i know you always have problems with grooming but the groomer didnt show up. I asked her why she hadnt called me and she said because everyone went to lunch and they would give me a free grooming session. I told them I didnt want anything and I would never return even if it was all free. 45 minutes later the groomer called me and said she was sorry and i explained to her what the front desk girl said about her being late. She said that was a lie and she had called after 1115am to say she was going to show up later in the day. She offered to come to my home and do the grooming for free but I dont want anything to do with Lakeway vet clinic whatsoever. They have completely lost my business and respect. I will find a better groomer that is responsible with my dog and NOT keep her caged up for over 3 hours without doing anything.
Dr.Doyle always goes out of his way to go above & beyond to hold his practice at a higher standard always taking feedback to better his practice in grooming, surgeries, vet check ups, & appointments. I most appreciate his attentiveness to always have his staff held accountable for great customer service.
I highly recommend this vet. I have had 6 rescues and lived in a few states/towns, so I know vets. We recently had to make the awful decision to put our 19 year old cat, Samson, to sleep. This vet helped us fight the good fight and then helped us when we needed to stop and help Samson pass away without any more suffering. They have treated our other pets asthma, anothers bladder infection, and general well check ups, too. They are wonderful.
Hidi is the best, new to Lakeway vet, was so attentive, showed great compassion for Sophie on myself my little Yorkie, and didnt feel she was just out to make a book which is huge these days with vets, and her follow-up call was prompt and the next day and was open to all kinds of Alternatives other than surgery so helpful and very sweet and the staff are so professional and Heidi knows her stuff. Also my friend had an amazing experience with her so all around everybodys pleased with our new Heidi in Lakeway
This Place is amazing. I feel at at peace and secured in taking my dog here.I am not getting the answers i want to hear, but I am getting the truth.I have a dog with CHF they have done nothing but be truthful about what to expect and have done what they can to ease both my dogs and my my pain through this. Honest, caring , compassionate, I highly recommend Lakeway to anyone searching for Vet in this area.
Lakeway Veterinary Hospital helped save a very dehydrated kitten I found a few years ago, and they still take good care of him now that he is a big outdoor tomcat. I couldnt find him in time for our last appointment and they accommodated us an hour later when he made his appearance form under the deck.
I absolutely love Lakeway. Bella has been going herr since I got her at 6 weeks. Being a rottie, I wanted extra special attention to her and her needs. They have exceeded my expectation and know my family and Bella by first names. We are greeted with smiles and welcome hands. Bella became sick a month ago and the special attention receive during her sickness and follow up was everything I was looking for in a Vet. Bella is another daughter to me and I would only trust her to the best and Dr. Kristen and her staff have shown that to me. Thank you Lakeway Veterinary Clinic!
Last night I came home at 9 pm to find that my dogs broke into my medicine cabinet and an rx container was half eaten. Pills were all over the floor. I called Dr Doyle and he told me to go to the clinic. Was met by Jesse first, then Dr. Walker, who is new to LVC (at least to me), but is AMAZING... both of them are! Dr Walker treated my dogs and gave me live updates on the bloodwork on the dog who actually consumed some pills throughout the night. He was calm and patient with my dogs... and thankfully to me too!!! Thank you, Dr Doyle for making your clinic 24/7, and Dr Walker and Jesse for being amazing!!! A special thank you to Dr Walker for being honest and telling me what I need to hear, even though it was something I didn’t want to hear. #LifelongClient #Integrity #DoTheRightThingNotTheEasyThing
The care factor here is beyond compare. I have worked with this team for four years and would never go anywhere else. I now live on the east side of Austin and will continue to use them regardless of commute time. The doctors and staff are the best I have ever seen and have taken care of my family like no other.
Dr. Cindy Skinner is absolutely amazing. She treated my bearded dragon for yellow fungus about 2 weeks ago. Prior to my appointment with her, I believed there was a fair chance my bearded baby wouldnt make it... but shes thriving and the YF is showing significant signs of improvement.I was surprised to learn that Dr. Skinner has extensive reptile experience and training! The internet and reptile forums leads one to believe there are only 2 qualified vets in the Austin area, but I have one nearly beside me!The staff is also incredible. I spoke to them several times one day while they researched nutritional and medicine concerns I inquired about.Dr. Skinner was very sympathetic and compassionate not only to my Beardie but also to financial considerations. Needless to say... the visit was much more affordable than I anticipated and definitely exceeded my expectations.
Thank you all so much for giving us the comfort and support while enjoying the last moments with our baby Looah. The news hit our family terribly, but your support and all the love and care you guys gave to our baby Looah surely helped A LOT. You guys are simply AWESOME!!!!!

2022-06-27They were wonderful, Brought a 3 week old puppy in shes very tiny runt of the litter Dr. Smith and everyone there worked on my little Peach until they ran out of things they could do for her. She is so much better and I really appreciate the level of concern that they showed for her discomfort and the price cant beat the price for an emergency vet. Would definitely 100% recommend.

2022-02-02Thank you for giving our rescue kitty, Pepe a wonderful first vet visit. We appreciate all the advice on taking care of him. Dr. Doyle was so sweet to Pepe and my boyfriend’s daughter. Dr. Doyle even invited her to come volunteer and learn about being a vet. If you are in need of vet services, call Lakeway Vet!

2022-05-06My dog is older and had been sick a few days so I was very concerned. Without hesitation Dr Doyle had me bring him in. After checking him out he was prescribed some medications. Their technician Shelby was wonderful. She was so gentle with Rocko and explained all the meds to me and what to expect. I left there feeling so much better! Thank you Dr Doyle and Tech Shelby!

2022-02-06Easily the best vet practice I’ve been to. My pup ripped a stitch on a Sunday and they were willing to squeeze us into their busy schedule on short notice despite not being regular patients. Every staff member was kind and informative. They quickly repaired the stitch and the pricing was very reasonable for an emergency visit. I wish I lived in Austin so they could be my regular vet. Thanks again Lakeway team!

2022-01-23I have taken both my dogs, 2 rescue rotties, 1 which requires a particular amount of kind patience and love because of her past and the other a total goofball and have had great experiences all of the times over the last 4 years that I have been coming here. I have seen 3 different veterinarians and find each of them to have their own redeeming qualities. They have all been empathetic and clearly have a love for animals. They have of course made recommendations but have always been respectful of my financial limitations. My most recent visit was unfortunately in the middle of the night for end of life care for my senior cat Walter. The night staff could not have been more kind or compassionate. The doctor on staff was precious as she spoke to my Walter as he fell asleep in my arms.I highly recommend this clinic not only for their medical expertise and the affordable care they have provided my menagerie over the years but also for their kindness and compassion which I deem equally as important.

2022-02-11I brought in my cat for emergency surgery, and had a wonderful experience. The staff was kind, attentive, and explained everything in detail as I asked many questions. Dr. Smith was absolutely phenomenal. She took such good care of my pet, and I could not have been more fortunate to have her as our vet.

2022-07-17Took our Salem their today for emergency care after he became unresponsive, while waiting for the vet to come in , was trying to get ahold of my son to let him know and another 16 Year old son who needed a ride home from work. I asked the Vet that came into room to wait one sec while I tried to explain the situation to my son who was attached to Salem, and the Vet rolled her eyes at me and said Your Cat Passed and just walked out, it was like the freaking rudest thing to say and do when a member of our family just died!!

2022-02-05Lovely people. I wish they had a payment program or that they werent so expensive. But they were amazingly sweet and understanding. They operated on my little kitty, and showed us care credit when we didnt have enough, and were very patient with us as we looked for a way to pay for the operation. We were a complete mess and they showed no malice or anger or anything. Its clear they care about the animals here.I also appreciate the waiting room refreshments.

2022-03-20This place had me in grateful tears today. My dog was clearly in pain. And every other emergency clinic in town was at capacity. I called Lakeway and they were so kind and said they were also very busy but they would get my boy seen. From the vet, to the tech, to the front desk staff, these people could not have been nicer. They were thorough and hopefully we’ve got my sweet boy on the path to recovery. My heart is just so thankful for Lakeway Vet Clinic today! Cannot recommend them enough!

2022-01-25They were able to get my dog in quickly on a Sunday. Friendly service, only thing I would change would be getting written instructions on how to take care of my dog post-procedure. I like this place, but it’s too far from home to go to regularly.
