Was a very pleasant surprise as we were going to eat lunch at another restaurant across the street but they were closed. We decided to try Las Americas and very happy we did. Waiter was very helpful and food was very good! We will go back as we thoroughly enjoyed the laidback atmosphere and food.
The food here is cooked well. However we felt some of the portions could have been better. For an appetizer we tried their fried trio. They serve you fried sweet potato fries, yucca fries, and fried plantain chips all in a brown paper bag. Accompanying it are three different sauces that are well suited for each one. The chipotle aioli went great with the yucca, the criollo pairs well on the sweet potato, and the chimichuri goes well with the plantains. My wife wished we had gotten maybe one more yucca fry, so we could have each had two, cuz of how much she loves yucca. For my breakfast dish I tried their Tomatillo Chilaquilles. The tomatillo sauce was noticeably fresh, and had good spice. There was a lot of tortilla with cheese, and had two small sized fried eggs served on top. I wished my eggs had been a bit bigger in size, or a third egg, as I felt there just wasnt enough yolk to marry all the flavors together, for my liking. The potatoes cooked through soft.My wife tried the Peruvian goat chops. The plate came with 3 small sized chops that were cooked really well. As a side she got the fried black beans and rice, which had a good amount of spice to it.My wife decided to try their mimosa flight, too. It came with 4 different flavors and they serve it to you on a try that has each flavor written in front of each glass. They change out the seasonal one each season. Their seasonal, during our visit, is the Watermelon mint, which had a light watermelon flavor with a hint of mint.
Went with my lovely wife for dinner tonight to a new personal favorite. Hidden away on a dead end street in down town Brenham is a wonderful historic building that houses some great South American fusion. The atmosphere is top notch and so is the servace. Everything that came out of the kitchen was a work of art and had the taste to match. Our appetizer was amazing the ahi nachos were a fusion of Asian and south American soul food. It was perfectly beutiful and tasty a treat for the palet and the eye. The pablano chicken soup was next and it was a hit of perfect balance. For the main course Churrasco Argentino was a feast. The steak, sausage, corn, and accompanying sauses and pico were a dance of flavor melding into one. I will definitely be back.New visit- 3/16/21The Pandemic has not stopped this wonderful eatery from putting out fine food. The Ahi Natchos are still fantastic. The red snapper in wine butter sause was perfect. The plantain was tangy sweet. The rice was cooked perfectly. Yes another great job by these fine people.
Absolutely amazing food! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great mix of all sorts of Latin quisine. I would go out of my way to head back and try more. The sea bass, although a bit heavy on the butter is a must! The sampler entree is a good choice as well. Well done yall!
Lovely experience, would highly recommend. Every ingredient was made to perfection, there wasn’t a single thing we ate that we didn’t love. We ordered the Tomatillo Chilaquiles, Street Tacos, Chocolate Cake Flan, and one other dish pictured below with steak that I can’t recall the name of. Only issue is prices on the higher end for relatively small portion sizes, however well worth it. Definitely would come again!
We love this place! Is not Mexican restaurant. Great atmosphere and friendly people. I really appreciate their menu and the unique entrees that are offered. It’s refreshing! Love the food and ahi tuna nachos. Also love a good drink and their festive mimosas based on the season or holiday. Highly recommend!!
Was in town for a softball tournament for my daughter and we were looking for a place to get a bite on a Friday evening. Found this place on google and decided to give it a shot. It was a little more upscale than I expected, the service was a little slow but it was busy. We had ordered an appetizer of the fried plantains, yuca and sweet potatoes but they didn’t arrive until our meal did. I was a little disappointed as I assumed the fried plantains would be more like “tostones” but that was my bad for assuming, they were just plantain chips. I ordered the bistec encebollado, which was great, but what made everything taste even better was their chimichurri sauce. It was so good my 11 year old was putting it all over her food. We even asked for some to go, to take home. If you’re in the area definitely try this place out, and you have to get the chimichurri sauce, probably one of the best I’ve ever had.
In town briefly and was told to check this place out for the sea bass. Hadn’t been before and had outside seating so gave it a go. The sea bass was fantastic. I’d probably give it a 4.5 if there were half points but all things consider and good service it’s getting bumped up to a 6 star for me.
We truly enjoyed the atmosphere of this place! Especially the music! The beautiful photographs of different places in Latin America, add a nice touch to the decor. We ordered a queso flameado and the serving was plenty for two people. It was served with tortillas and pickled onions with an exquisite flavor! The staff was friendly and offered great service! Great addition to historic Brenham!
We ate a late lunch and it was busy but not overcrowded for a Saturday. The service was great with Tyler; very friendly and patient. The food was pretty good but not excellent. My husband had the lamb dish, which was delicious but the chops were ridiculously small (3 normal bites each chop, with 3 chops), especially for the price ($31). I ordered the pupusas, which were good but lacking in overall salt and flavor. The chimichuri was mostly oil, which is not how it should be, and the curdito wasnt pleasant. Salsa Rojas and broth sauce with the lamb were excellent! The mimosa flight is a must try! We might go again to try other dishes, but not sure with the price vs what we had. The Latin theme is great but not well executed overall.
We had a lovely brunch with Huevos Rancheros and Empanadas(beef) that came with a lovely chimichurri sauce and a habanero sauce for dipping.Service was great and the mimosa flight was lovely as well. Nice clean and comfortable atmosphere. Street parking was easy to find within walking distance.
I really enjoyed the vibe of this place, the decor is spot on!!! So fresh, and authentic! Finally something different and properly representing Latin food, which is something much more than Mexican food. Love the beer selection from Latin America. My recommendations, get some more Caribbean food. Some mofongo (PR), alcapurias (PR), mangu (DR) or tostónes! Also, there is a mistake on the menu, the appetizer Arepa Reina Pepiada is from VZL not Colombia.
My husband and I ate here for the first time today (we are from out of state) and it was amazing. The food was fresh, seasoned very well, and absolutely delicious. It was seriously the best food weve had since weve been staying in Texas. I would definitely come back here again and Id recommend it to anyone.
This is a hidden gem in Brenham Trcas not to be missed. Located in the historic DT Brenham area. Easy street parking, super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ahi nachos app a 10, Pupas another 10. Others in party had shrimp which looked amazing. Reasonably priced for quality of food. Nice beer and drink menu. Get there!!
This place has an amazing selection from South and Central America. The setting is comfortable and fun and a little exotic. The food is well done, the prices reflect Brenham, a bit too precious. But the town runs to this. I chose a skirt steak. It was flavorful, but tough. It is hard to do this right, but I have had it better, and for the price I expected better. I know it can be done because I have had it, and for less. The attention to flavor however was top notch. And the service was excellent. Nice and attentive people. Go see and enjoy.
I found this place googling somewhere to eat while in Brenham and it was fabulous! Quaint little spot in the downtown district. The wine was good (had pinot griot), ordered the fried trio appetizer, I had the chimichurri steak and hubby had the fish. Was excellent. Great service too!
I never cease to be amazed at the variety of top notch niche restaurants in our small Texas towns, and Las Americas is in the top 5 of them all. Great service, great food (Im originally from Miami and know my Latin cuisine), great service, yet still homespun but could rank high in the downtown restaurants of Houston. Buenísimo!
I have not been disappointed with anything on the menu. Its all fantastic! My only trouble is that I cant pronounce any of the names of the dishes. This is Latin cuisine, very different from anything else in Brenham. Service is great, and the beer and wine selection is very representative of the regions the restaurant presents. Very satisfying! Highly recommend!!
My wife and I visited here for her birthday. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the service! Tiffany was our server, and she provided the best service we have every received in Brenham. Ive been here over 20 years, so that was incredibly refreshing. My wife had the sea bass, and it was the best food we tasted that night. My shrimp diabla was very tasty. The shrimp were cooked just right, while the rice was spot on on texture and flavor (its amazing how often that gets messed up). We will definitely be going back!
Very good Cuban vibe but with a South American title and intro. Food excellent! Moderately priced. Will return again often. Make no mistake nothing like Mexican food as i was hoping originally, but pleasantly surprised, cant help but but move to that Ricky Ricardo music!
Wow, what a find! Very unusual for Brenham so were very happy they opened in downtown. We had the Cuban Sliders for an appetizer, my wife had the Amazonian Salad w chicken, and I had the Pollo Encebollado. And they have a good selection of South American wines and beer. Everything tasted great!
Although I have heard of how clean, and delicious the food is at Las America’s; last night was my first personal experience attending. WOW is all that I can say.The staff was so welcoming. From opening the doors, bringing in additional chairs to seat guests, to entertaining and engaging guests through conversation and the occasional dance; this staff is incredible. As a guest, you could see & feel teamwork and genuine friendliness from each staff member. As a matter of fact, I engaged in a extended conversation with a manager and felt as though she was an attendee, I was not aware that she was a manager until she politely ended the conversation to assist her coworkers in cleaning. The environment was SO clean! From restroom, to the bar, to the entertainment area, even extending outside (as I witnessed several staff members sweep and clean the benches at the entrance). Not a fingerprint on a single table, no debris left on the floor, and staff was consistently cleaning as the evening continued. Not to mention the decor, and overall ambience- unsurpassed in Downtown Brenham.Entertainment was PHENOMENAL! I am generally conservative and would prefer to sit and watch others. Last night, the combination of staff reassurance, aforementioned ambience, & delicious adult beverages caused me to silence my phone! Myself, friends, associates, & local longtime (well respected) Brenham residents actually were on the dance floor, and doing the salsa! There is much more I could say, I will conclude by stating that I would recommend this restaurant to ANY person who is looking to enjoy excellent service in an exquisite atmosphere! It’s gonna be a thumbs up, for me!
Wow. What a surprise. Was very excited to see Reina Pepiada arepas on the menu. Fantastic flavor. Arepas were more of the Columbian style than Venezuelan, but none the less, they were delicious. Very good wine selection. Really great service, fun ambiance and a wonderful all-around experience. If Im ever back in the area, I will definitely come back.
Small town restaurant treasure. Food was excellent, with a latin influence. Chimichurri sauces with plantains, papusas, Sea Bass, Spanish Meatballs and so much more. Broad menu sure to meet your pleasure. Very busy place, service was excellent and friendly, Thank You Leah for your pleasant service. A must stop place for good food. Great date night or casual Friday eve with bae.
I don’t know why I thought this latin restaurant in the middle of Brenham would be so awesome, perhaps the other reviews? Came here as a stopover between Houston and Austin and I asked what is recommended. I got the street tacos, my husband the albondigas. Both, eh. Service was slow and there was literally not one Hispanic person working there (weird for any restaurant, more so when it’s “Latin cuisine”). Also a little on the pricey side. The atmosphere was cute and there’s a baby changing station, though. My advice? Just keep driving to either Houston or Austin for better food. For those living in Brenham, also keep driving or keep assuming that’s good ethically diverse Central and South American flavored food.
Food is SO GOOD!! Ceviche is fresh. Tostadas are crispy. Sauces that go with the the Fried Trio (plantains, yuca and sweet potato) are awesome!! Tres Leches PERFECT - not too sweet, not too soggy! Services=amazing! I want to stop cooking dinner at least and just come here every night. Stop reading this and just go enjoy the fabulous food and perfect atmosphere if youre trying to decide on where to go to dinner in Brenham!! This restaurant is not to be confused with Tex Mex diners. The different entrees on the menu tell you want country the dish originates in (Colombia, Guatemala, Argentina....)

2022-01-04The service was great and the food and drinks were yummy. We had the mimosa flight and it was the perfect amount per person. I had the shrimp al ajillo (shrimp with garlic in English). It was a little salty, but still delicious. A little avocado on the side would have helped to cut the salt. There was indoor and outdoor seating with food served quickly even though they were fairly busy. This is definitely a must do if you visit Brenham.

Kind of cozy inside, cool atmosphere. Service was fast .The fish tacos were very good! Combination of crunchy radishes, coleslaw, sauce and avocado with fish.I enjoyed my lunch and will be back!

2022-02-24My boyfriend and I came here last night for dinner. I read the reviews before coming to the restaurant and the food sounded great. We ordered some drinks, an appetizer and two entrees. To say the least the drinks (mimosas) where great and the appetizer tasted good. However the entrees were pretty bland and just not flavorful. Definitely not anything to brag about. We didn’t think it was very authentic. The service was good though.

2021-07-14Great restaurant, service was a little slow while there were only two small tables of customers. My grandson got the lamb chops, he loved them. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer along with the poblano soup and was not disappointed. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

2022-07-17The food was good however our waiter never came to refill drinks. It was hot inside and when we cashed out they added their own tip which was not service worth 32.00. I don’t know who are waitress was but we was there at around 6:00pm -6:30pm. It was a female

2021-08-22This was my first time to eat here. I loved it! The best Plaintain Maderos Ive had anywhere. Enjoyed the Amazonian Salad. Kudos to the staff - you could tell the were short but all double-timed with smiles.

2022-01-19We were passing through and saw the reviews so we decided to try it. We ordered the trio and ahi nachos which were both delicious. The soup was hot and flavorful. The salmon and the salad fresco with shrimp were also very tasty. Really great atmosphere and service. I highly recommend it.
