I ate the Menudo it was okay a little bit salty for my taste nevertheless it came out hot and fresh they were really busy so it took a while to get it. But the live music and the dancing was definitely a highlight of this place apparently on Sundays need frequently have bands. Friends / food/ music, this is probably a winning combination anywhere as you go. We had a pretty good time. I would definitely recommend this place for celebrating or just getting together and listening to some good music while you eat in a Gathering of a group of people.
My first time to visit on a first date. A hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant. It was a very quiet, clean, simple place with great tasting Mexican food. I had pork tips with red sauce, rice, frijoles a la charra, lettuce & tomato on the side, with tasty guacamole as an appetizer. The salsa and chips were spicy, crispy and delicious. It was a very good first date too! 02-02-19
Never been to this restaurant before was excited to try it. We had a family meeting there a total of eight family members. We were the only ones in the restaurant pretty much. Service was well below par. One of their servers looked like he had a bad day and it expressed his frustration with us. Got to the point where it almost got physical. Not sure what this guys problem was but I will never go back to this place again. I should be ashamed of themselves. Never have I ever been treated nor my family been treated the way we did there. They need to close the doors and get into another line of business. It took them 45 minutes to bring me a drink after I had ordered it four times.
I dont know what has happened to this place. The food used to be great. The food now is Bland no real spice No Love in the food. Something was lost and they need to find it. I dont know if its a new cook or if its something else. so today I took my wife to go eat some brunch she had pancakes and eggs and I had huevos rancheros. Im sorry to say the beans tasted like they came out of a can. And the ranchero sauce was more like water down ketchup. I ordered a menudo to go which was roughly 9 bucks the amount of menudo that I received was severely disappointing. Probably a cup.I can go to Lettys taco and get twice the amount of menudo for the same price
Went there to have lunch, we were barely greeted upon entering. There was only one other table there. An older woman came and took our order she was pleasant but seemed to be having trouble communicating well with us. My husband ordered green enchiladas I ordered carnitas. She brought us chips and what looked like tostitos picante sauce. Anit even enough for two ppl. Maybe enough for three or four dips. What can I say about this place, she brings our food . I immediately can tell that my husbands refried beans are not fresh they are over cooked and seemed to have microwave burn . The enchiladas are horrible the green sauce bitter my carnitas looked over cooked and were extremely tough and gummy . They tasted old and looked like they were leftovers(microwave burn as well ). Sorry people everything about this place is a complete no no . Save your money this food is bad and the service mediocre. Nothing authentic about this place
Went here as I always crave breakfast burritos after a night of heavy drinking- and boy; was i not disappointed! These tacos are soo good( I had migas with chips and salsa) the eggs were cooked to perfection and the way my teeth sunk into the tortilla was pure bliss-statiniation♡
We stopped for breakfast tacos this morning and were impressed! They offer a large number of options and all were good. Soft tortillas, crisp bacon, fresh eggs, refried beans, and they didn’t skimp on the cheese. Throw in an avocado and a little salsa and you’ve got breakfast. One of also ordered a pancake and it was large and fluffy. Did I mention the price? Most of the tacos were under $2. Good service, although we could have used a coffee refill.
Best lunch I have had in a long time. I had crispy taco with refried beans and rice and iced tea. I enjoyed every bite. The salsa was a little too spicy but thats okay. I enjoyed my lunch with a nice friend from church. Will go there again to enjoy another meal one day soon.
First of all loved the place from the outside, super cute. Walked in and they had hand sanitizer which was great as well. There waitress came up to us pretty quick, took our drink order, came back with that pretty quick. Then you our food order, that was just as fast. Over all great place, great service, and most importantly great food. Will definitely come back soon.
Service and food has gone downhill. Son ordered carnitas which were dry came with no lime , cilantro , or onion...wasnt even asked if he would like that we just assumed it came with it ( this it what people typically put on it and it comes with it everywhere else) nachos used to be my favorite thing ordered here but they are so plain and bland now. The chicken fajita also dry. Only good thing was the horchata. Our salsa was practically empty when given to us and we looked like we got the crumbs of the chips. We wont be back .
A cute tiny little Mexican restaurant with surprisingly ample parking. We went for breakfast and got huevos ranchero and the menudo.I asked for eggs over medium but the were definitely over easy, food was still good though.Menudo was a little on the salty side but tasty nonetheless.
Excellent. I had the caldo today because it was rainy and felt like soul weather. it was so flavorful! We have going here for years and consistently great real mexican food. Also they are following COVID19 safety protocols, spacing out tables, so I am very happy and feel safe to return here.
If your looking for authentic Mexican food - don’t go here. The food was old and the sauce was NOT spicy.,. Never again will we come here. Very overpriced not authentic - a shiner was $4 and a Modelo $4... in car 12oz. My sons tacos had old and very hard to chew fajita beef. He did not eat.
Havent been here in years. Still a small mom/pop operation and good food. Fajitas were a little tough to chew even asking if they were marinated first and told yes but I can overlook it. Good to be back in the hood even though I was just in the area. Lots have changed and HEB was CRAZY! 😂
EVERYONE PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN USING YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD AT THIS RESTAURANT!! Make sure you ALWAYS ask for a receipt. I noticed they NEVER give you one but if you ask for a receipt they are required by law to give you one if you paid by debit or credit card.Okay so I got food from here recently and the order total came to about $15.00 and that is what they ran my card for. When the transaction posted to my bank account I noticed they had added on a few dollars and it was over $17.00 instead of what they had told me at the restaurant. I have a feeling they have been doing this to a lot of people for a long time because they probably think that most people are not paying attention and they probably think you will not notice a few dollars being added on. The same thing happened a while back on an $11.00 transaction that ended up being over $13.00 when I checked my bank account. And when I went back and checked all of my other transactions from this place, I noticed they were all for amounts that were much higher than the cost of my order. They are definitely running a shady business and ripping people off that pay with a debit or credit card. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE COST OF YOUR ORDER AND THE AMOUNT THEY ACTUALLY CHARGE YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD!! (If you discover that they have overcharged you, please contact your bank and tell them that you want to dispute the transaction.)
Best restaurant has been around for quite a long time. I have been doing a few times and Ive always enjoyed the food. I wouldnt say its anything extravagant, but that is what makes it great. It is fantastic Tex-Mex. I would definitely recommend the Antonios breakfast taco!
Has the feel of a family-run place, though I dont know if it actually is. Yummy food, I had the Adobo de Puerco and it was very well flavored. The salsa was very good too, had a small kick but not so aggressive that I had to slow any in shoveling chips in my mouth 😄Theres not a full bar and the rocks margarita I had shows it. It tasted like a straight-up bought mix and I wouldnt get one again. I will come back for the food though! Also there was no wait and the service was attentive.
Food was outstanding. Service was amazing. Great customer relations. I will definitely be back again and again. Found out that they are even open for breakfast. Prices were very reasonable and very fair for the amount of food. Lad back and very easy going. Nice outdoor patio
We ordered poblano queso and it was awful. It was not even mixed and smelled like rotten milk, so we switched out for regular queso and it was so watery. The waiter seemed uninterested in us even dining there so overall it was not a pleasant experience. Maybe it was just not a good day there? I’m not sure
If you walk into this place before 3, walk out. Cross the street and go to el primo. Minimal taco game. Only one Salsa option. Which is a huge disappointment because salsa is often what separates mediocre Mexican from good. Asked for salsa twice and was given a miniscule amount we used up right away. Small tacos. Corn tortillas were prepared badly. The cheese on my tacos was fake velveeta. The place looks cool. Almost historic. Good outdoor seating. Average service. Good music. But dam if your craving a really good breakfast taco with some solid salsa, dont do it.Update. Had indigestion all day after eating here. Many surprise bathroom visits.
The waiters are nice ,but the food is not great. My mom ordered the taco salad I had the chicken fajitas and we were very very disappointed. To begin with the food is pricey and it felt like the cook was lazy in his cooking. The rice and beans very blan the food tastes like your leftover mexican food. Not fresh at all.
Good food, good service, good Tex-Mex music, tamale $10 a dozen ,plenty of parking, hard getting in and out sometimes because of traffic. This restaurant is stuck in time,no growth was here in 2006 still looks the same, no investment into restaurant .The food is definitely worth the visit.
Service started great. And was alright throughout. But the food was subpar. Nearly tasteless barbacoa and carnitas. The salsa was okay but the queso with poblano... Was a mass of cheese that was never really melted and returned to its near slab form by meals end. With so many good choices in Austin theres no reason to give this one a second chance.
Well, weve been coming here for years and today, we learned that they now charge for very stale tortilla chips on your table. Next, we we asked to buy raffle tickets for their Church. When it took so long for our food, we were told it was because of the beef fajita meat for the taco salad (four pieces of meat). The meat was chewy and the salad very small. We dont know what had happened to this restaurant and are very disappointed.
Food is really good but very over priced especially for what you get. There are other places along S 1st that have good food for less. Also, the waiter that day seemed to be in a really bad mood and it seemed like it was an issue that we were there....everyone has an off day I guess.
The one time I attempted to go in for breakfast a little bit after 8 am, all open signs were on, one table was already dining, and the front door was locked. I attempted to open the door a few times and multiple employees just stared at me and never opened the door. Never going to try to dine there again.
This place is pretty good. I loved the homemade style plates like the calabaza con pollo(squash and chicken) or the posole(menudo with pork). Oddly enough though the simple things are hit or miss. Fajita is tex mex style beans arent Mexican and the rice is usually under or over cooked. I still go back for the homestyle stuff...
Great Tex-Mex from an Austin Staple. This place has been in Austin for quite some time and I can see why. The food is excellent and reminds me of home. This isnt some Americanized restaurant where you can get jalapeño ranch on everything, this is South Texas Tex-Mex. The refried beans were homemade, as was the perfectly cooked spanish rice. The enchiladas were delicious and the margaritas were on point! Go here, its worth it.
Food was subpar for a city that you can find great Tex mex in. Margaritas tasted chemically and glowed a fluorescent green. I would drive down the street to El Alma or grab tacos just about anywhere else around Austin before suggesting this spot. The staff seemed friendly enough and the restaurant gave off a family owned vibe. Sadly this is not enough with the other offerings around.

2022-06-19Found this place on accident but we always say trust the smaller places they are usually the best. Food had so much flavor, did not disappoint. Service was a little slow but all in all worth a try if you havent been.

2022-02-23Their salsa is fresh and spicy hot and served with warmed chips. I come for lunch break. Fast courteous service without slack on food served fresh and heat hot. When temps get warmer I would love to try their fresh margaritas and sit outside on their front patio area.

2022-08-26Caught my attention at red light.Stopped in and found a delightful resting stop . LMR has been around Austin almost 30 years .By the layout I’m guessing more than a few wedding receptions may have been held here . Owner waited on me and could not have been nicer .

2022-09-05This food was so amazing I felt like crying. So flavorful, I got the fideo with the chicken and the chicken fell right off the bone. Cooked to perfection! I love that the salsa had a good kick to it. 10/10 🧚🏻♀️

2022-09-08Breakfas Food was good, but I thought kinda pricey since they did not give us chip with the meal. They said it was $3.25 if we order chips before 11:30 a.m. So. Relative to other bigger places this was expensive. Other dishes we noticed were $13, $14. There were people there when we arrived at about 11:00 a.m. after we left at about 11:38 a.m. there was no one in there.

2022-09-18Clean $$ customer service was okay. Nice quiet place, looked like a place for the elderly. Menudo was mushy, tasted over cooked. Barbacoa was bland and greasy. Not sure if I would recommend, need to give it one more try, maybe try a breakfast place next time. For now, not a place I would rave about.

2022-02-21Went for a patio lunch with my in-laws and we really enjoyed it! Im a big fan of their spicy house salsa and on the warmest day of the year so far the frozen margarita really hit the spot. They were short staffed but we were in no rush so it was a nice relaxing meal. I ordered the barbacoa plate and was quite happy with it. My wife got Queso Fresco enchiladas which were unique and flavorful. Prices are very reasonable compared to many other options in town. Will certainly be returning to try more of the menu.

2022-03-22The only thing worthy was the salsa! Enchilada sauce not good on flavor and color looks very cloudy. The hamburger meat has lots of different things in it and doesnt take appealing. All in all go to the next+

2022-03-06I havent been here in forever. My landlord mentioned it to me a while back, today I made it in for Sunday brunch. Festive, happy families, good service from Rosa, the owner and her family 35 years this place has been open, heres to 35 more. I had the protein plate half eggs mexicana and half carne guisada. I ordered extra tortillas to sop it all up. Best breakfast in a long while. Very highly recommended.
