Stayed there while visiting our Granddaughter at Texas Tech. KOA grounds are kept very clean, staff is super friendly and helpful. Restrooms were kept clean day and night. Although there is some vehicle traffic noise, for the cost, its acceptable. Nice friendly camping neighbors wanting a tour of our Nucamp Teardrop camper as they talked about their 20 footers made us feel welcomed. Well definitely go back there again.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when we had to extend our stay an extra day. WIFI was sporatic and wasnt always available . The cable was good, however, I was unable to obtain upper channels, so viewing was limited, but totally acceptable. I highly recommend this park and will definitely stay there again if in Lubbock.
Better than most KOAs. We had a wedding to attend so a shower was a must. They have all the stuff you would expect such as a store, pool, etc.Now this is the Texas panhandle so dont expect to park under any trees. The hookups were nice but a bit disappointed in the trash blowing around the campsites. One thing they do have is two cabins you can rent which looked nice from the outside. There are plenty of sites and we had no problem reserving one with a quick phone call. Showers were clean and worked well.
Arrived Thurs afternoon around 2:45 . No one in the open office. Waited around, went around building shouting hello but go no response. Called the number only to hear myself leave a message . Twenty minutes went by and a woman showed up. I told her I had been waiting and had tried to call. No apology , no excuse, she did not bat an eye . Whats the name ? is all I got . Rude . Next morning I wanted propane so I called again. 3 times and no answer .Went to the office. The same woman was sitting in a corner on her phone. Must have been important cause she did not acknowledge me . Phone rang and she ignored it . RUDE again. Park was okay , not great .
Beautiful grounds. The office staff is so nice and friendly. I would just recommend keeping the swings in the park oiled, so when kids are playing at the park, the people camping nearby dont go crazy listening to the high squeak of a swing all day or wee hours of the morning.
We stayed here as a stop-through from HOU to Colorado. Facilities were clean, showers hot, and staff friendly. We arrived just before the pool was closing and the owner offered to keep it open longer so our kid could have some swim time after being on road all day. Above and beyond great service. Nice little playground. Enjoyed our brief stay!
Weve traveled to Lubbock at least once a yr since weve had our motorhome about 10 yrs. KOA has always been our place to stay for a week or so. They have roomy spots and lots of pull throughs. Grandkids love the indoor pool and outside playground. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Also washer and dryers if you need some clean clothes! And the bathrooms are clean says my hubby!!!
I love it! Great little comfy area to be in. The cabins were so cute, the bathrooms were clean and well lit. The AC was above and beyond in the cabin and the room was all around just lovely! The bed was a bit stiff, but hey, it better than sleeping on the ground (;Our check-in lady was incredibly sweet, too! And personally, I really liked having all the cats around, we all need a little kitty-love here and there lolI’ll definitely be coming back to this location someday! Thank you!
We stayed here for three nights in the cabins. They’re really cute and just perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful, the grounds are clean and well kept. Has an indoor pool and hot tub. There’s also a ping pong table that was fun:) I saw a review complaining about the stray cats...that’s not their fault. People dump them there and these wonderful people feed and water them. Campers come through and take them home! They also get them vet care. The cats help keep bugs and rodents away, as well as snakes. I recommend staying here:) If we’re visiting Lubbock again, we’ll stay here again!
Conveniently located off of Hwy 60/84. City dwellers, sounds of light traffic and nearby railroad tracks will lull you to sleep. Nice mature mulberry trees, trimmed to accommodate high rigs. Staff polite and allows privacy. Dog area safe, but low mud pit, when it rains, plenty of other options for your loveable pet. Internet worked well. Friendly thumbs up from golf cart staff each day!
Small dog park....there was no grass in it very dusty and bare ground. The whole park seems like they just dont do grounds upkeep. Very disappointed. We love to travel with our dogs but this was so much loose dirt. I understand were in west Texas but Carlsbad NM had grass in the dog park very nice. The Landry room was nice.We will not be back.
Really good RV spot. The spaces are wide and easily negotiable. There is a small dog park which is perfect for K9s to run and play. The pool is indoors so you can swim year round. The staff is very friendly and helpful for all aspects of rving and the area. This is a credit to the KOA logo and brand.
We have stayed at this KOA for years. This is the first time 6-14-18 through 6-16-18 that this facility has been substandard. The hot tub was filthy, cloudy water, slimy, and smelled stagnant. The pool wasn’t as clear as it should have been. The restroom I used the shower 2 days in a row, visibility dirty, lint, dirt, and trash in the same place 2 days in a row. If you’re just going to use the hookups you will be pleased. The amenities not so pleased. Won’t be going back. 🙁
Staff have been friendly and facility is well maintained. My wife loved the pool and laundry facility. WiFi has been reasonably fast but with numerous dropouts throughout the day which makes work more challenging. LTE speeds from both T-mobile and Verizon are pretty poor in this area. The biggest drawback, without question, is the very close proximity to both a freeway and 4 railroad tracks within about 200 yards. There are trains traveling slowly along those tracks blaring their horns at nearby crossings many times each day and night, sometimes stopping and idling so loud that our RV rumbles. My wife and I have both slept a bit worse than normal. If you are moderately sensitive to sound, I would probably suggest considering other options.
This was the second time we have stayed here as we passed through the area. It’s clean and quiet. The sites aren’t paved but they are nice level pull through sites. We didn’t use the pool but it looked clean as well. The restrooms are I. Good condition and were clean. We would stay again.
Plusses and Minuses. When we arrived last week, our reservation was not in their system. We got a spot, but without sewer hookup, and not a pull-through. Turned out okay, since we were able to dump our tanks in an empty spot the day we left. The roads and pad are dirt and gravel, no concrete. Our spot was level and the hookups worked. The grounds and facilities were clean but not modern. For example, the stall and shower doors in the mens room were painted plywood, and the shower pans were concrete, no tile, and no shelf for the soap or shampoo.Be warned about the noise: this camp is right next to a busy highway and a railroad. Two trains each night and plenty of 18 wheelers. The camp is pet-friendly and there are plenty of dogs there. If you have dogs, ask for a spot away from the dog run or your lovelies will often be barking.
Place was fair, a no big deal park. It rained leaving large puddles and muddy. The laundry washer was backed up with stagnant water and a few bugs. The pool was cold and had a film and odor to the water. The spaces are of descent size and had no problem getting in or out....41 ft 5er...there is an abundance of stray cats so dont leave anything outside.....the one thing I did not understand is why the bathrooms/showers were closed until 1130 at 0830 in the morning....this is the time you would thing they would be busy instead they were closed. I will be staying in the future only because the location is closest to tech.
It was 102 outside when we arrived to a cabin we rented and reserved in January, a/c not turned on for us. Very , very hot in cabin. Cooler to sit outside and sweat than be in the cabin. With temps in 100’s outside you should turn on the a/c and cool off the cabin before your hot and tired guest arrive. Very small a/c for size of cabin . Still sitting outside an hour after we arrived waiting for inside to cool down. Had to leave around 10pm when the cabin still hadn’t cooled down and and we found bed bug bates under the beds. Left our sleeping bags and pillows . Didn’t want to bring bugs home!
Went looking for a less expensive way to travel and move my child into Texas Tech. The deluxe cabin is ideal for me my parents and children. This campground is beautifully maintained and the cabin is extremely campy comfortable. ..meaning dont expect the Hilton but if you enjoy camping then this is the holiday Inn of camp grounds. We will definitely be back
Great Staff, indoor pool, clean grounds, dog park with toys, full hook ups... Its quiet and relaxing. It is close to the RR tracks however only one train blew a horn during our TWO DAY stay and it was around noon. For all those complaining about the smell. The only time we smelled the sewer is Sunday when everyone was dumping at the same time as they were leaving. Its to be expected. The pull thrus are wide enough for pop outs and the sites have dual black/grey water hook ups and you have enough yard to be comfortable.
Laundry room has new machines had to use credit card. I got charged for loads I didnt use as there were no instructions. One washer quit before it filled. It took 20 minutes to fill the machines. It had rained and was a muddy mess in the park. Lots of road and train noise.
This place needs some work. Trees need trimming, buildings need cleaning and updating. They need more gravel, place was a mud pit. The roads need more signage, and the entrance to the park is not well marked and is narrow to get into with a larger RV. Pool and spa were dated and closed early. The place has potential and younger managers. I think given some time they will get this place in shape.
Not your regular KOA. Small, PLAIN and simple, lots of dirt, a few small trees that are still young so don’t provide much shade. There was s an indoor swimming pool and a small office/store with a few supplies and souvenirs and the very nicest people in the office. There is 30/50 amp.power plus cable tv. Water and sewer. Price was $38 but I think $28 would be a more equitable price. Close to highway and the park was pretty full by the early more so I would suggest calling ahead. 5 stars for the friendliness.
We loved it. It was clean, the kids could let the energy out swimming, playing on the playground, riding their bikes, etc.. It was clean, cheap, and just up the road from an amazing Drive-In. The city has an Amusement Park, a childrens Science Museum, and lots of child activity centers. It is a perfect place to stay. Our cabins were the cheapest ones, and still had a double bed and a double-bunk-bed, air conditioners, television and free WiFi. The money we saved on hotels was used to pay for the movie, Science Spectrum, and Joyland. Loved it. The staff felt like family.
We have always enjoyed Lubbock KOA. Great pool, friendly staff, and everything has always been clean. We stayed in cabin 2 on Feb.26 and we found the cabin to be less than we expected. It reeked of cigarette smoke and our clothes, bed linens, etc. took on the odor. The floor needed mopping, badly! Some of the pegs used to hang items on were missing and or loose, letting the items slide off. It just wasnt up to the usual high standards we have enjoyed in our past stays.
The stay was great but had the worst experience while in the swimming pool. My wife went to the restroom and it was real dirty, somebody missed the toilet. The hot tub had brown foam all over it. You can tell the swimming pool hasnt been clean in a while because it smelled like armpit and sweat. Then we witness the lady cleaning the restroom. She had a bucket and kept grabbing water from the pool to use to clean the toilet. She did that 4-5 times and not sure if it backwashed back to the pool. Then after a while the water from the restroom drained to the pool. Very unsanitized!!!
Where to start... If you are staying in a tent I would advise against staying here. Bad location for tent sites. You hear traffic and trains (rumble and horn) all night. There where ants all over. There was scraps of trash in the sight. I understand wetting the area to make it easy to stake a tent but it was too wet and the stakes pulled themselves up. We arrived late and found our map with no receipt for our stay. Called the after hours number 4 times and it went straight to a Verizon message, filled out the after hours envelope put in cash. Had we actually left early I dont trust that they would have refunded it. Womens Bathrooms where decent but the hot and cold are backwards in the shower I used. Dont burn you! Worst koa Ive stayed at in 10 years. Will not go back and will not recommend to anyone that is just stopping through for one night. Would have been better off in a motel 6.
Staff was friendly and helpful.. Pull through not big enough for big rig but they accomodated us by pulling up a landscape tie when leaving. Pool was great. Hot tub and mens shower were out of order. The shower for women wasnt the cleanest. Great overnight near the highway.
Very disappointed. Attendant was very nice, but everything else left a lot to be desired. Its right next to a highway and a train track........very noisy all night. The roads were full of pot holes and it appears there are people living full time in the campground. There were junk cars and overall pretty trashy. I wouldnt stay there again. Worst koa Ive seen.
Unfriendly staff, bad cellphone signal, noisy highway and train, moldy bathrooms, super slow wifi and you are not allowed to stream or download on it (as if). Small lots and narrow roads, not for large trailersand a small crappy dog park (literally). Would not recommend! Save your money! But the pool is decent and playground is ok, so I will give an extra star
Not bad. For the most it was quiet given that there is the highway and train nearby, that was the only real noise there so no sleeping with the windows open on the cool nights. Each campsite had a picnic table with a charcoal grill, there is I swimming pool with hot tub free for our use, a small play playground for kids and a couple of dog runs. Propane refill station on site. Sadly there is no laundry service on property. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. The internet service is pay per device and not very reliable, had my own hotspot so did not matter to me. Here for 8 months and if in the area again will stay again.
This KOA Is a joke. Me and my husband spent a weekend here just to get away. Well the cable didnt work, hot tub didnt work, and theres not much to do there. Also we leave they automatically charge us 185 dollar for what i have no idea tried to call and no answer. The owner talked to us personally and said hell give him us a little refund nope the opposite happened
For a Journey KOA this is a brilliant little park right on the highway making it a great choice for an overnight stay. The spots are easy in, easy out (we have a 40ft 5th wheel pulled by a long bed Chevrolet dually). Not only that but Walmart is 3 miles away and Costco 5 miles away has super cheap diesel.
Bathrooms were clean and air conditioned and WiFi was pretty reliable; however, if those are what you look for at a campground, then you should consider a hotel. As for the campground aspect of this site, there was nothing to celebrate. If it was full, then it would be incredibly crowded. There were no firepits, so say goodbye to the smores and hotdogs night you might have been planning. They do have 14 inch charcoal grills and a water spout with a hose next to the picnic tables. But they offer no protection from the terribly forceful winds on site, so be sure to bring a very sturdy tent with extra stakes and rope. Further, everything will be covered in dust, including and especially your eyes. There is a dreadful mix of highway noise, train horns, and a cackling chorus of birds, along with a rooster that wakes up around dawn. They have a lot of amenities, but keep in mind that you can only use the pool, store, and hot tub from 8 to 8, so if you like getting into a hot tub in 105 degree weather before the sun goes down, then you are in luck! While youre roasting in there, you can watch the large flies take over your tent and attempt to devour your food. Overall, my boyfriend and I definitely wont be back.
The Lady in the office was friendly, BUT, the morning after our 2nd night they had a water issue-NONE-we left unable to shower nor flush our rig. Abilene KOA allowed us to flush rig without changing us, after we explained that we were heading home & needed to flush before parking our rig!!!!!!
Every one here is so wonderful i love this place and im still currently herewhat can i say about the staff here very wonderful wonderful wonderfulthe kao its clean and they have clean restroom and showers and the pool is very relaxing after a hard days work. they have pull threw spots and they have back in spots very roomy , if you have a prevost you will have the room to get in they have 50 and 30 amp spots and they aslo have tent spaces on the south side of the complex. They have cabins and lodges to rent as well, what i like most of all you can have a fire in an approved fire pit but what i like most of is the friendly staff make your feel right at home you cant beat it . And if your a train lover you can listen the locos that come threw i always have my trusty scanner so i can listen to them and the road noise puts me to sleep .... happy camping i give it 5 stars
Great KOA. Clean and mostly quiet. KOAs are a bit expensive depending on how you are staying but they are reliable and that will often make them worth it for me. This KOA is positioned unfortunately close to both the railroad tracks and the freeway making it not so quiet.
Lousy location due to road and train. Needs updating. Lacked in grounds maintenance. Short sites, planks are a hazard. Needless to say, I sure didnt like it! Internet slow and its pick a number to access with your devices. People living here too. About the only good things I can say is its only $27 or so pn with KOA membership and there are some shade trees. Would have much rather paid more and got more.
Train and highway can be annoying, having only 3g phone service not much better. Wifi SUCKS! When I go on vacation I want some down time including some evening streaming. With their wifi you cant even connect with your smartphone. I should have gotten a motel room. GRRRRR!!!!!!

2022-03-19The stay was very pleasant and the staff was so friendly and accommodating! My daughter wanted a few friends to enjoy the day with her and they had absolutely no issues. My daughter was able to see her friends and spend a great afternoon with them. Would definitely stay again from the dog park to the pool it was all clean the cabin was really neat and clean staff kept asking if we needed anything to let them know. Not sure what staff others dealt with but the ones available we had absolutely 0 problems.

2022-03-06This camping spot was accommodating to our needs, we felt safe, and its in a convenient location. We enjoyed the drive-in movie theater nearby. The time of year that we visited the KOA had dead vegetation, hopefully there is more green grass and nice trees according to their pictures. The dog park access was convenient, we really liked this place, we will stay again. Military discount and location near Texas Tech was our main considerations.

2022-04-19Definitely would not recommend. We were going to rent monthly for 2 months, when we arrived, the trailers are run down, broken cars in the lots, and just a dump. The pictures of the park don’t do this park justice. Felt unsafe. They refused to refund us our rate or our deposit for electric, even though we never actually unhooked, or even unlocked, our camper. We’ve stayed at lots of KOA campgrounds in the past and never been so disappointed. Beware prior to booking.

2022-05-16It is just not right, we came, parked and set up. Relaxed a bit, went out for dinner and came back thinking we could relax in the hot tub before ending our evening. It was 8:45 pm. No where in the brochure, website or in the office does it say that the pool and spa are closed early. We dont want to hottub before supper or when its 100 degree out. Will never be back, they must be micro managers. I would give you 0 stars if posdible.

2022-05-08This is one of the best places to camp here in Lubbock. Whether it is in the cabin, your RV, or in a tent they have it all. It is very clean and quiet. It is a perfect family get away.

2022-03-25This is a small KOA, all dirt and gravel. The lady who checked us in was about as personable as an armadillo, a total crumdgen! The pool was not really warm enough but the hot tub was. The inside of the pool area was in dire disrepair as most of the ceiling tiles were ready to fall in. The rusty, wobbly handle to get into the hot tub was a bit frightening. Worth $50/night? Not sure?

2021-12-28We have been here before and will stay again. It is a nice, quiet place with reasonable rates. The management is friendly and helpful. It is easy to get into and the area is kept clean. They have a dog run area. The rv spots are nice and level...it is dirt, gravel mix. One nice feature is that for those with sewage hookups on the passenger side of the trailer/rv, the spots are set up with access points on both sides.. so no extra long hoses needed.

2022-03-29The bathrooms were dirty, shower stall and a toilet was out of commission, spend money to repair them instead of flowers n plants, lots of garbage needs to be picked up, the back rows of permanent campers very unkept, we left 2days early, this KOA could learn a lot from the KOA management in Picacho, AZ, but heads up to Julie who checked us in, friendly and helpful.
