My favorite restaurant! A friend who lived in NYC for many years says its the closest hes had to authentic NYC Italian food in Abilene. The restaurant is clean, if a little dated which does add to the ambience, and the waitstaff is always friendly and prompt. We always order the calamari and our favorite dishes are the eggplant parmesan and the veal marsala. Never change!
We were really hoping this was going to be our go to restaurant. It wasnt, the bread rolls were good, if they actually make them from scratch, huge kudos. I got the clam and shrimp linguine in white wine/ butter sauce. I had to send back over half the clams because I couldnt get them open, they sent back cold ones, which is fine, but they were also slimy, more like a oyster consistency rather than a rubbery clam. The soup, I got minestrone, was ok.. I can make it better at home. The sauce was ok, again nothing like OMG, this Is amazing. My husband ordered the Steak marsala, he said it was good, far from the best he has ever had. All in all, just mediocre.
Amazing atmosphere!I came in on a quiet Monday afternoon. The place was obviously slow as it was around 2:30 and lunch rush was over. The atmosphere was low lit and calm with beautiful jazz piano standards playing in the background.I was seated at a comfortable window booth and served immediately with deliciously soft bread rolls and an oilve oil bruschetta. After taking my order the waitress returned with my soup, Italian wedding, and shortly thereafter with my baked ziti and pink sauce (amazingly declicious). The lunch special was ONLY $8! I challenge anyone to go and find that much food at any restaurant for such a low price and try and match the quality of their food. I reckon it cant be done in Abilene, TX, at least not in the category of Italian cuisine.Overall, I give this place 5 stars and encourage anyone to try it out ASAP. It appears that it will likely be a stellar restaurant for date nights too 😉.
Unfortunately the quality has gone down and the prices up as have alot of places since reopening. Im not a fan of sweet marinara however my friend very much enjoyed it. Im kinda picky with my Alfredo sauce and color, texture and flavor was different than expected. The staff itself was very kind they were quick to fix any issues. However im not sure that I will be going back just for hospitality tho it is good to know. Everyone has different taste buds. Just a personal observation.
PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY GO TO OLIVE GARDEN!!!!! I ordered ravioli to go which was a complete mess when I ordered it. The lid was smushed into the food with sauce spilling outside of the container into the bag. The sauce taste like it’s straight out of a can with no seasoning or flavor at all! I also ordered a large cheese pizza (which I know I shouldn’t of because it was $8) this tasted old! It was actually worse than gas station pizza. Save time and money and get a hot and ready $5 from little Caesars. LITERALLY THE WORST PIZZA IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!
Great experience! Mr. Luigi himself graciously opened up the outdoor area to our party of 4 following church today. He turned on the cooling system and music for us and served us himself. He was gracious from beginning to end and the food was exceptional. Calamari is one of the most difficult things to cook to perfection and the calamari here is absolutely perfect.
The food is delicious went there last night on my Saturday night date and it was absolutely fantastic place to eat. And the service was wonderful our waitress was so sweet and right on top of everything. The sweet tea is fantastic. A must go place. The live music was so good to hear. Very clean
Deserves more stars! About five years ago we happened upon Little Italy while on a cross country road trip. We had arrived about a minute before closing. While I used the restroom, they had informed my kids that they had actually closed. I guess they sensed our disappointment and before I could ask where else we might be able to go to, the manager insisted we stay and reopened the restaurant for us. Not only were we able to relax and have a delicious hot pizza, he offered us dessert as well. To this day this has been the best customer service I have ever witnessed. If Texas hospitality had a face, Luigi’s Little Italy would be that image. Not only did this experience make our trip so memorable, it reminded us that there is good people in this world.
This is by far the best Italian food restaurant in Abilene. Our food was delicious, hot and plentiful. The quiet relaxed atmosphere was the perfect setting for our party of nine. The waitress was excellent and kept everyone happy. I will return often as well as recommend this business to all my friends!
Anna our server and the other girl she was training were really nice. Made sure to check up on us periodically. The food was really good and the servings are very very portioned. They have a lunch menu and the prices are really great. I liked their tea as well. Very good flavor and didnt taste to strong or old like some tea may at other places.I really enjoyed our dishes. Me and my daughter both got the same dish and I was so pleased with the experience. When I come visit through Abilene again I plan on stopping by again.
Always a great experience. The food is made to perfection and I have to add the house dressing is delicious. Servers are kind and sincere. Thank you, your restaurant is always recommended, in an intimate setting, friends and family visiting from all over and with work colleagues.
This was the perfect evening! The atmosphere was classy and relaxing, the music set the mood perfectly, the food was the best I have eaten in years (the warm homemade bread, The loaded salad, the melt in your mouth pasta, the intensely flavorful soup, all cooked and presented to perfection!) Our waitress Meri was like family taking such care with us and so personable, and brother David cooked those fabulous dishes in the kitchen like family as well. It was a treat we will not soon forget! Do not MISS this experience!
Im unsure why there are so many negative reviews; our experience was lovely. We are brand-new to Abilene as of just a few days ago (moved here 12/31/20), and simply wanted some comfort food for dinner instead of bothering with cooking. We ordered Luigis to-go and had the appetizer sampler, the chicken Florentine, and the pasta with sausage and peppers. We very much enjoyed everything! I thought the complimentary Luigis moms famous bread was excellent; I liked that it was actually shaped into a cute little roll instead of a simply proofed/raised bun. Im not much of one for Alfredo sauce, but their Florentine was delicious and the chicken was seared and seasoned well. The sausage and pepper pasta could have used more peppers, but I admit that I am a total sucker for bell peppers, so thats just my preference. I dont think well get the appetizer sampler again, but the apps were indeed tasty. Cant wait to try the food here again, perhaps for a sit-down visit!
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. The only good food item was the garlic bread and oil. We order the appetizer sampler (ravioli, calamari, mozzarella sticks) and it looked and tasted uniform and out of a box. I had the Wedding soup which taste like out of a can. As my entree, I had the shrimp and clams. The shrimp were alright but the clams were out of a can and not good. The noodles were the same noodles I cook out of a box at my house. I was excited to go and get fresh authentic Italian meal but instead got food that came out of packages/cans. Very disappointed. The highlight of my experience was the service and atmosphere. If the food was freshly made and authentic this place would be a hidden gem in the community. I will not be back.
If you dont mind getting authentic Italian food or dont know better of what real Italian food tastes like it might pass for youI ordered veal parmigiana and instead got a prcocessed round veal patty that was frozen and gust dropped in a deep fryer then topped with sauce and cheeseIt was like eating cardboard and the sauce that was susspose to me Mariana there wasnt even a hint of garlic and was gust a sweet tasting sauce and for the salad bar iceberg lettuce chunks mostly white hardly any green leaves the tomatoes were dried up and the onions were cut so large that you would have to cut them up to fit them in your mouth and for the cake cumbers looks like a five year old cut them big chunksI
Lasagna great. Salad dressing, house, awesome, Parmesan Eggplant was very disappointing. Used to live in Abilene and ate here once a month and everything was awesome always ordered eggplant Parmesan but they have changed the sauce and it was like they opened a can of diced tomatoes and poured on top. So disappointed. Go back to your old recipe and open salad bar. Service was excellent.
We went in for lunch but we werent charged the lunch prices. The waitress said she couldnt adjust the prices because her manager had left. I find it hard to believe that management would leave the premises without empowering their employees to handle guest complaints. But if she was telling the truth, then that just lowers my opinion of this establishment even more. We wont be back.
So, so bad, both food and service. Do not know where these good reviews ate but it so was not at this place. Everything here is out of a can or jar. Voted best on what planet!!!! Its old, out dated and needs to know when its time is done. Go to Olive Garden for, dont waste your hard earned money at this place.
The only reason I am giving it one star is because the server started off strong. After a few hiccups (cold food and another plate being returned completely), she was completely deflated. Every single plate was incredibly salty. The chicken on both the fettuccine and marsala seemed to be prepackaged, paper thin garbage. The only thing good that came out of that kitchen was the chicken parm. This is the second time visiting and everything was sub-par. We will be sure that there isnt a third time.
The service was really bad. Only 3 tables taken in whole place and had to keep asking waitress for refills and other needed items. First place Ive ever been to where they didnt have sweet tea! Food was okay not great. Had the Diablo with chicken and chicken seemed as if was a frozen breast you can get at a grocery store . Had great expectations but really disappointed. It was our first time there and will not go back.
One of the best secret spots in Abilene! Luigis is spacious but has an intimate atmosphere. We had lunch here with friends that felt like we were visiting at our Italian aunts house for a great home-cooked meal. The food was incredible; cooked to delicious perfection and served true Italian-style. Wait staff were friendly and the price was more than affordable for the portions you get. This is a great place for a business lunch, a romantic dinner, or a fun Saturday with live music and karaoke.
This is my favorite place in Abilene to eat. The food is delicious and the waitstaff is always so friendly. Tonight is the first time in a long time that I have been there late enough to enjoy the guitar player and it was a treat! My husband and I had a very pleasant and relaxing evening. Cant wait to do it again!
So sick after eating there. Will never be back. Everyone go to Olive Garden, its a chain but at least you wont get food poisoning!!!!Their inspection score for the last inspection was 63 out of 100 with 12 repeat violations and 4 new ones, how do they stay open. Look them up and read the report for yourself, you will never go back!!!!!
I had ate there last night, plate given to me was dirty but still I ate the food. I ordered Alfredo ravioli, I thought it had tasted bad but assumed I just ordered wrong. Anyways about 30- 1 hour later I begin puking precisely for the entire night and etc , I had gotten food poisoning
I have been multiple times with my wife over the past 4 years and their food and service have both been consistently good. Despite being slightly cheaper than Olive Garden, this Little Italy has a much better atmosphere (usually a live guitar player at peak hours) and much better food (especially bread). Everything here is incredible, and their dipping oil for the bread makes the entire night. I recommend trying the desserts.
We had a group of ten for dinner. The food was superb. Since this is an Italian restaurant the spices were generously used. The meat was fresh and tasty. I’m not sure how many rolls I consumed, but the scales won’t lie when I decide to use them. My favorite restaurant in Abilene. The service is wonderful.
Stopped by this restaurant and had chicken marsala which was excellent. They brought out really good bread to dip in a more than generous amount of oil and seasonings. The creamer of mushroom soup is to die for. The waitress, Lety, was super friendly and really took good care of us. Try this place out. The pricing, food and service are excellent.
Went here since I heard it was authentic. Was in town visting mother in law from Colorado. Looked up Italian restaurants and saw it had good reviews. Was not tasteful. Did not have much flavor. Got the wedding soup and tasted like swamp water. Was disappointed for sure.
Wonderful atmosphere, a little dated in appearance and decor, but a relaxed and calming place. The food was a bit expensive, but worth it. The large portions and flavor was fantastic. The staff attentive, but not too much so. We had ample opportunity to taste and savor our food before being asked if everything was all right and if we needed anything.
The dipping sauce for the bread is amazing! The food was wonderful. I had the shrimp Alfredo with a side of pink sauce. The shrimp was perfect. Seasoned, with the tails removed. (Bonus points)Adrian was our server. Very pleasant and attentive. We even wrote his name down so we could request him again (next time we’re in Abilene) We were able to joke with him and he kept us entertained.
We ordered food here over $70 order, waited for over an hour and then our order was cancelled.EDIT: I was not informed who cancelled the order only that it was cancelled. I apologise for the poor review, and I appreciate that you tried to make it right. I wish I had seen your message sooner.
Wouldn’t even give it one star but that’s the minimum. Several families of people ended up walking out last night because of the poor service and them not having lasagna at 6:15 in the evening! How are you an Italian restaurant and are out of lasagna at 6:15? That’s right at the beginning of your dinner rush. Poor planning on their part! Soups were cold and the minestrone soup had obviously been on the warmer way too long because all the noodles were mush! Beer was warm. We are new in town and have a Luigi’s back where we came from that was WONDERFUL but this was pathetic! Will definitely not be going back! Hopefully there’s a better Italian restaurant in town!
3 of us went last week, go to Olive Garden, food over priced and fair at best and service is super slow they were not busy at all (no surprise there) and we never even got a refill on our drinks. Building is so out dated, felt dusty and old. Read all the good reviews, were they at the same place?
The food was good, the service was lacking however. The waiter was friendly when he initially greeted us. He took our order, didnt tell us the salad bar was part of the meal. He served the food and then the bill. That was it. The seems to be either high school or college kids who enjoyed talking with each other rather then the customers. It didnt seem like any table was getting served appropriately.
Ordered shrimp and clams pasta. I got some broccoli, onions, and mushshrooms in olive oil instead...Im shocked that they are using glass jar Alfredo sauce instead of just making it legit. I thought this was a Italian restaurant. The alfredo taste like those 1 dollar frozen meals. Over priced for such low quality food.
The main courses are delicious. They have a good variety of sauces. Eaten here many times since moving to Abilene and we have enjoyed virtually every dish. They emphasize their chicken dishes, and the chicken is always tender, but they also have good veal (and the veal can be ordered in place of chicken for any dish if you want). Nice relaxed atmosphere. Some tasty entrees include the Chicken Cremora and any dish with their pink sauce. The salad bar isnt that great, but does come free with meals. Also, the oil for the bread is made different every time. Occasionally it is just okay but usually it is quite yummy, regardless of the differences in preparing it.
I love going here with my family. Menu is pretty big and so far very tasty. The salad bar is a definite PASS... get the soup, or nom on a extra roll or 2. Live music is sometimes playing and we havent been huge fans of the people playing.. its erratic and loud at times.. if you can avoid those times your in for a great meal. Good for large groups too!
True Italian restaurant owned by a true Italian! The atmosphere here is like no other locally. Great place to call for that special night to make lasting memories. Luigi says the chef has been with him eight years now. The best of ingredients prepared to perfection every time.Call ahead to make a reservation and ask about the limo.
Awwwwwsome! I had veal parmesan and grilled shrimp. The shrimp was out of this world good. Best Ive had in years. Strawberry cheesecake was a good finish. Wait time was less than 2 minutes and they was very busy. Staff was great, music was great, food was great, price was great. I recommend to anyone. Bring an appetite and enjoy.
Super delicious country Italian food. A tad pricy, but totally worth it. Atmosphere is amazing, very romantic and relaxing. Outside looks a bit shady, and u may be a bit apprehensive upon approaching the building, but I promise you wont be disappointed. Dont judge a book by its cover! Staff is really nice too, you never feel rushed to finish your food and leave.
There is no other pizza made in Abilene that is more tasty and priced reasonably than Little Italy. I love that I can place my order and 15 minutes later arrive to pickup my order.Besides great pizza, Ive tried their pastas, stromboli and calzones and they are very good. I love this mom & pop establishment and so will you. Enjoy...
Before you eat here you might want to check out their Health Inspection scores online. I looked to see if they had the letter score posted but could not find it so a friend looked it up for me and it became clear as to why. Most recent was a 79 and ,6 months ago a 76. Food was so full of grease we could hardly eat it. My wifes glass was dirty and when we asked for a clean one we got attitude.
This place has always been good, but I noticed a difference this time. Not sure if it was a management change or what, but the food just wasnt the same. The Alfredo sauce was watery and I think I may have accidentally come across a mushroom in the mushroom soup, which, by the way, was also watered down. I hate to see a good restaurant in its demise, but I think thats whats happening if they dont change some things soon. I probably wont be going back here for my Italian cuisine.
Of late, the good--- Prices are good ,food tasted good and servings were sized well, bread was good, olive oil for dipping, good also. The bad, the servings of mushroom soup did not cover the spoons in the bowls and it was cold, have to ask for artificial sweetener, charging extra for sweet tea. The staff is a real grab bag of experience, some great, some some seem to have just wandered in, no knowledge of the operation. My server came up behind me and began playing with my hair ( it is blue) just a little too informal for me. The music does not suit the ambiance you are going for. The cushions are worn out and uncomfortable, you wind up dropping through them and hitting the wood beneath. The interior is tired and needs freshening up, feels like it could stand a deep cleaning.
Stopped here for an early dinner and absolutely LOVED it! Slightly off the beaten path, Little Italy is quiet and reserved -- just what I needed after a hectic day. Server was spot on and took time to chat a bit, a personal touch that was much appreciated. Food was very good, cant wait to go back to try something else!
I give the service 2 and the food 4. It wasnt busy at all. We waited a long time to be seated (there was no one else waiting), then waited a long time for our drink orders. We ordered salads, minestrone, calamari and ravioli appetizer, Eggplant Parmesean, Veal Cremora, and cannoli. There was a party of 10 college kids seated well after us who were ordering before we were and who seemed to be the only people the wait staff were concerned with. Our waitress could never seem to get away from our table fast enough, while lingering and visiting with other tables. She brought all our food out within the space of 10 minutes. We has soup, salad, appetizers and main dishes all on the table at the same time. Very poor service all around. The food was very good. The salad was fresh but needed to be cut up some more. The minestrone was very good. The eggplant was great and the Veal cremora was excellent with two sizable pieces of veal and big slices of sautéed mushrooms. The cannoli wasnt what I expected and was too sweet for my taste but that wasnt their fault.I may give them another chance based on the food, but if it were only based on the service I would never go back.
With all they great reviews I feel like I came on a bad day. Salad bar was bare and didnt get utensil till 20 min after we sat down. Food was lacking and I get it being busy but really. It could have just been the server that made it bad with the mistakes she made. Lastly why was the bathroom so dirty?
I eat here once a week and typically love it. Tonight, they lost a regular customer! I called in an order for pick up and was instructed to pick up in 25 minutes, so I left my apartment 30 minutes later. When I arrived, I waited 15-20 minutes on my order. I assumed they forgot about it because it was a fairly slow night. When I got home, I opened my baked ziti to find that they had coated the bottom of the aluminum bowl with a little sauce, scooped in some noodles, and covered them with cheese. Almost all of my noodles were crunchy; some were even too hard to eat, and there wasn’t enough sauce to even try to cover half of my noodles. I called the restaurant, and the waitress said all they can do is have me come in to make me a new one. When I asked if they could write my name down or something since I had already made something else to eat and it was beginning to pour down rain, she snapped, “NOPE. All we can do is have you come in tonight to make you a new one,” with an A T T I T U D E. Also, TONIGHT? In the pouring rain? After working in customer service for years, this is NOT how you correct a mistake made by your restaurant. I, for one, will not be returning. What a waste of time and money.
Food was way overly greasy and way too much cheese. Food was just fair at best. Seemed to come out so fast for what we ordered which leads me to believe they nuked our food rather than prepared fresh. Decor way way out of date and at a peak time it was dead. Friendly fast service though.
This is where I brought my wife on Valentines day 2009, when she moved to Texas to marry me. We moved away for 9 years and moved back. The food is just as good now as it was back then. This is what Italian food is supposed to be. Thanks for the memories, past and future .
My husband & I went out to celebrate our anniversary & couldnt have found a more perfect place. The settling was romantic. We sat in a private little booth. A man was playing beautiful gyspy jazz, tying in the entire mood. Our waiter, Lance, was exceptional. He asked the kitchen to make us a special pizza with alfredo sauce and eggplant parm. It turned out perfect. We will definitely eat there again.
Gaze upon it, ye undeserving mortals, and weep, for humanity has done nothing to deserve this placeseriously though, best italian restaurant I have been to in a long time. everything Ive tried is delicious. delivery is prompt and food is hot and delicious. I could live the rest of my life without eating at any other place.
Half the order was wrong. I ordered the meat stromboli. Taste is fine. Could use more cheese. Also wanted breadsticks with cheese for $3.99 they brought and charged for mozzarella sticks which was $5.99. In my opinion the girl that answered the phone needs to clean out her ears or learn better english. Good food or not I will never order from here again .
Recd a coupon in an email for a free entree with the purchase of one. My birthday present! Waiting time for a table was zero; walked up to the counter, said 2 and the hostess asked us to follow her. Chips were crispy; salsa was disappointingly bland. If you ask, theyll bring hotter salsa.
I would give it negative 5 if I could. The server and her trainer couldnt seem to be bothered to wait on me. Wouldnt refill my drink, didnt clear up plates, only asked how I was doing from across the restaurant....just sorry service. Food was good but not worth the service.
Only half of what we ordered was right, we had to wait double the time for our food when we ordered online for pickup, and the staff was super unapologetic and rude. We waited an hour for our food to get ready when was told 20 to 30 minutes, half that time waiting at the store seeing other people come in and out with their orders 😒 unimpressed
REPULSIVE...ordered shrimp scampi to go. ($16.99) got home, spent 5 minutes shelling my shrimp, then was about to mix with noodles and without stirring there was 6 lemon seeds on top! So I called asked for chicken alfredo instead and took the scampi back. Now im late for work and wont be able to eat my dinner anyway so I refuse to pay for the chicken and demand my money back for the scampi...luigi the owner throws a fit tells me to never come back after he tried making a pathetic excuse after excuse for his food. Way to run a business Luigi ;-) Ive been in the restaurant/bar business for 10 years and I would never speak to a customer the way I was disrespected, especially if it was my fault for sending shitty food out in the first place!!!!

2021-10-12Authentic Italian restaurant. Good food, huge portions. Fast friendly service. Towards end of night so not many people there. Got right in with no wait. Goid variety and mant choices to choose from. In a shopping area with decent lighting. Hot and fresh garlic bread with oil for dipping.

2022-06-07This restaurant was so lovely inside. We wanted to go to a restaurant that we normally wouldnt go to while visiting in town with our kiddos and it did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and the food was delicious!

2022-04-03I had gone to this restaurant before and I was very happy but to go from excellent service to nothing was a disappointment to say the least. We arrived when there were three other groups of two or three. Waited nearly 40 minutes but never received our food. We watched as two large tables of 8-10 people were seated, got drinks, appetizer AND their meals before I went to a waitress asking if there was something going on with our meals. The wrong order came out. We were done. At least the bread and water was good.

The waitress was so nice and she was really great with the younger members of my family and that is ALWAYS AWESOME to have the staff at any establishment to be great to all ages of your family because that is A DEFINATE INDICATION that a place TRULY IS FAMILY FRIENDLY.WE LOVED IT ALL ❤ 😃 👍

2022-05-14Their pickup service is terrible. Im sure they offer a great dine in experience, but if you have any plans on placing a pickup order through them then be prepared to wait an hour or MORE for your food to be ready. They dont even have to be really that busy. I was in there with the dining room half full and still had to wait an hour for my food to be ready.
