The staff here are amazing. I had what I thought was an emergency and they were able to fit me in same day. They were empathetic and caring to me and my dog. I was impressed that they were extremely transparent with pricing and actually gave me no pressure options. I was blown away. Within 24 hours, my dog was feeling better and is on his way to healing. I cant recommend Manchaca Vet or thank them enough.
Im so glad I discovered Manchaca Village Veterinary Care. I brought my dog because he couldnt pee independently, and I wanted to learn how to do a bladder expression. I had taken my dog to his regular vet earlier that day to have them perform a bladder expression, but they were unable to do it because of his high level of anxiety and the vet techs lack of effort to assist me or listen to my concerns. Manchaca Village accommodated my last-minute request for an appointment and saw me immediately! During my appointment, Dr. Ontiveras was fantastic! She explained why my baby was having difficulties relieving himself and demonstrated how to do a bladder expression at home. As far as Im aware, shes the only vet who has been able to soothe my dog throughout a visit. In addition, the vet tech who assisted my dog and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well!Im so happy that Ive found a vet who will treat my dog as if he were their own.
Sadly I had to send my sweet Pekingnese Romeo across Rainbow Bridge on friday and it was the most painful thing I have had to endure. The compassion and kindness of everyone there was just incredible. To the tech Adam who was so patient and kind and to Dr Lubitz who was also so compassionate and caring and both of them were so very gentle with my sweet Romeo. In time I know I will have another fur baby because my life would not be whole without one and I will most definitley be using MVVC. Thank you for your kindness and compassion.
I am from Houston originally and that is where my dogs primary vet is located, but Menchaca Village Vet is our go-to Austin vet. They are always absolutely fantastic, they squeeze us in when we have an emergency. Their prices are fair. The staff is friendly and super knowledgeable. Theyre just fantastic.
I will never bring my pet anywhere else. They always take such good care of my baby- I can tell the vet and all the techs genuinely love animals and care about making sure the best care possible is found. I’ve brought my animal in twice when I was scared and panicked, they not only got me in faster than the closest emergency vets, I was treated with total kindness. They were empathetic even if it’s just my worries getting away from me and answered all my questions, and comforted me when I was upset. I feel so comfortable leaving my dog here to get care, and I can’t say that about any other place. Thank you for giving an anxious pet parent peace of mind, and always being there for us. I can’t thank you guys enough for what you do! I really feel that they’re the best at what they do.
Dr. Ontiveras is the only veterinarian my 10 year old doggy gal has ever been comfortable around. Going to the vet has always been a huge trial, even with anti anxiety meds beforehand. She took extra time during her first exam to get to know her, offering her treats and allowing her a significant amount of time to feel safe. My dog responded more positively to her than anyone before. Dr. Ontiveras is very caring and comprehensive and I trust her feedback and consultation regarding the healthcare of my pet.
We love Manchaca Village! We found them when we added our pup Jedi to our family in July. They are always professional, responsive, and most importantly, compassionate. While we love all of the staff, we especially love Sheridan the vet tech. She loves Jedi so much and has been loving on him since he was a tiny puppy. She takes care of him like he was her own and has given us some great tips on raising our German Shepherd mix. We trust their expertise and appreciate their patience in answering all of our questions. Unfortunately for them, they may be meeting our very grumpy cats soon. And for that, we apologize.
It is rare for me to go out of my way to leave reviews of the places I frequent but I honestly cant say enough good things about this place!! Seriously. I have been in Austin a little over 10 years and they have been my Vet now for 8. When I got here, finding a good Vet was...challenging. Having had negative experiences with Vets/Pet ERs ranging from bad bedside manner, poor communication, outrageous price gouging, and consistent misdiagnoses, finding Menchaca Village Vet was quite literally a life saver. In the 8 years Ive been with them I have never ONCE had anything other than fantastic experiences, even when the nature of the visit is a heavy one. The entire staff is friendly, personable, and goes above and beyond with their communication. My Vet in particular (Dr. O) is INCREDIBLE! Again I cant stress this enough. She has been invaluable to the life and well being of my pets while being extremely effective in knowing what treatment options are necessary or unnecessary. This place actually cares about your animals and you personally. They will do everything they possibly can and more to make sure that you and your pets leave healthy and happy. Thanks again to the amazing team at Manchaca Village Vet for everything you do!!
My visit to Manchaca Village Veterinary Care on 1/05/2017 .Im afraid to admit that in the whole of my adult life , I have never written a letter of praise , or complaint to anyone before until now. After becoming unwell, we took one of our 15 year old family members ( Sarah our Cat ) to the same veterinary clinic that we have been going to for the past 14 years. After receiving a diagnosis of her problem from the Doctors ,As she is a member of our family , we worried as to if we had done enough for her just by taking her to the vets and getting her some medication. After a couple of days it started to bother us and so decided to try and get a second opinion on her ( Sarahs ) condition. Looking on the internet for an alternate veterinary provider ,we hit upon MVVC.To all of the staff at MVVC ,especially the care and professional attention of Dr T. Smith ,and Cheryl the technician. I have never seen such professionalism in all of my years in Austin. To find a facility such as yours and with the staff that you have ,I consider myself extremely fortunate. I cannot thank you enough for the way that you treated Sarah during her examination . You have restored my faith in the human race that there really are people out there that care about animals as much as our family do.Thank you all again so very much.
They have taken such great care of my Princess Osita. Plus the staff is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The vets genuinely care about the well being of my pet and have helped Osita get better, everytime. Overall, you can see that MCCV make animal care their main goal.
This past Saturday was a pretty tough day but I have to say the staff there did an excellent job in our situation. Our pour Lexi wasnt feeling herself and after taking her there we did have some bad news. But the staff was amazing, they walked us through everything and just told us everything they were doing. Thank you for everything! We will miss Lexi for sure!
This is a very unique place and I honestly dont believe I have ever had such good customer service every time I call or go in for an appointment ......I am always treated with respect and always satisfied.....I give you props and 2 thumbs up!!! I have been a customer for over 20 years and excellent customer service, along with always helping the animal I am concerned about is a winning combination. I am always looking for that! Thanks for being there for me and my pets!
When I came in with my new puppy I was really nervous. I noticed immediately that they had my puppys name on a board welcoming her and that small gesture put me at ease. The clinic is very clean and organized with a great drink bar. I also felt that all the vets and techs were kind, respectful and informative.
I have taken my beloved pets to a few Vets since living in Austin the past 12 years and I can finally say this is the one Ive been hoping for. The staff and Vet are awesome. They realize that each pet is different and take their time assessing there health issues as well as their temperament. She took her time and gave us options for care. I love this place and my dog was smiling when we left. Thats never happened!
Our kitty got sick, and we needed good care quickly on a budget (were feeling the Covid economic crunch!). The receptionist, Everista, is stellar: thorough yet works fast, knowledgeable & finds out swiftly if she doesnt know something, and she is kind & compassionate. She appreciated knowing our budget limits up front so that she, the techs & vet could assess and treat our kitty with the limits in mind. The whole clinic communicated with us very well from intake (online forms were fast, easy, & safe considering Covid), to drop off (contactless = Covid A+), to assessment, to treatment, to pickup, to follow up.We LOVE Dr. Lubitz. She communicates compassionately yet clearly, she kept our budget in mind as she efficiently assessed & diagnosed our kitty (dehydration, UTI, and early stages of kidney failure), then she helped us choose treatment options to maximize recovery bang for the buck, AND she asked the right questions to help ensure we would be able to follow through with the medication/treatment at home.3 days later, and the follow up care is great too (by phone, at no extra cost). We are so glad we gave Manchaca Village Vet Care a chance! We hope this is the beginning of a long & happy Vet/Pet/People Win/Win/Win relationship.
We just moved to Manchaca but have 3 rescued dogs and 15 rescued cats that we take care of. We had 4 dogs until today, when we had to put one down. You couldnt ask for a better place to take care of a part of your family. Everyone here is extremely professional and yet care as much as we do for our animals. 100% recommend.
My experience at MVVC was the best Ive had in a good while. The girls at the front desk were super busy but made time to explain the paperwork I had to fill out. The tech was already waiting for me to come back to the room with my little one, Luna. Mind you, Luna was very irritable, frustrated, tired and in obvious pain and discomfort. As you can see in her picture, she has no front legs. She was born like this. She is now 15mos old and all she knows to do is drag herself around. She developed moderate to severe lesions at her dragging sites. The tech tried her best to get her and start with her weight and all. Luna was growling and trying to bite. They tried the towel wrap; didnt work. They tried the muzzle, that didnt work. Finally they tried the hamster ball and that got her to calm down completely. They were able to do her exam in a calm and serene manner. Up until then Luna had no choice but to cooperate. Dr. O and her tech were amazing. They gave me a complete explanation of what her problem was, the gave her several meds along with a dust mite medication. And the best of all they work out a perfect plan for the financial part. I walked out of there 100% satisfied and grateful for those that donate for others in need. This was our case. I barely had the consultation fee and they worked out a plan for her meds. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MVVC!!!! Staff is amazing, they move around so quickly and in a timely manner and they dont allow you to walk out with being satisfied and in doubt about the care of your furry baby. Thank you MVVC!!!!
We have been bringing our fur babies here for many years. They are, and always have been, kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and caring. I highly recommend them every chance I get. Thank you Dr.O and the entire staff for all you are doing, especially during this difficult time. The curbside appt went smoothly, and Koko was well taken care of - she would say thumbs up if she had thumbs! :-)
This place is amazing! Everyone was wonderful and clearly loves dogs! Our mini schnauzer Stella is usually super anxious and nervous around people but while we were there, she was comfortable and even let several of the techs pet her (which is pretty rare)! The entire experience was wonderful, from seeing Stella’s name written on the welcome board to the follow-up call we received 2 days later to check on how Stella was doing. You can’t get better service than Manchaca Village Veterinary Care!
The first time I came here was for an emergency. They were so thorough and helpful that I chose them as my primary veterinarian. Every time we come for an appointment there’s a welcome board with all the patients names that day, the vet and techs are all very sweet and helpful. Happy to have found a reliable, affordable place to take my pup
Everything was perfect. Everyone was very nice, explained everything, gave options, and genuinely cared about me and my babygirl. When I talked directly with the vet she took time to explain everything and never rushed me and answered all my questions without hesitation. Will definitely be coming back!Follow-up...still perfect! I dont think yall could have made my experience any better as it was already absolutely wonderful. Everyone that I talked to actually cared about me and my baby and if that wasnt enough already everyone cared about the expensive involved and didnt overcharge or make me feel horrible for not having a ton of money like many other places have done. I moved to Bastrop but will still drive to Manchaca Village for all my babies and my parents are going to switch to Manchaca Village too.
I cant even begin to describe how much I love this place. We rescued our first puppy in August 2015 and quickly took him to Manchaca Village for his second round of boosters. We immediately fell in love with the staff there. They are always just so friendly, patient and just so attentive. Their lobby is always so clean and always has a warm appeal. We love all the doctors and the entire staff, even with such professionalism they are still so kind and friendly and quality like that is hard to come by these days. Thank you for being so great and having such an amazing team.
Weve taken out dogs here for over 4 years now and we continue doing so even though its not the closest vet to us any more. The staff and doctors have been great and helpful for the routine stuff as well as the emergencies weve had.Our Boston Terrier loves going here because the staff all remember him, theyll make sure to stop by and say hi if they hear hes visiting.
Love it here! My dog is a new “patient” here. A couple weeks after her initial visit, she got something in her eye that made it red and irritated. After checking her out, the vet took the time to explain everything to us and offer advice if this were to happen in the future. He was very kind and intelligent. I like that he did not breeze in and out in a hurry, but took the time to talk with us. I’m so happy this is the vet we chose!
Ive been to a handful of vets, Ive never been to one that cared so much about my cat. The entire staff is extremely friendly and they all really care about your pet. My cat, Gino, wasnt doing too well and they went above and beyond to help him. They even called to check on him between visits and if anything was ever wrong, theyd let me come in with minimal notice to help him out.Honestly, the best vet clinic Ive ever been to and I highly recommend you take your pets here.
I was recommended here after adopting my foster dog for a checkup. The office staff are great, however the providers are meek and not super helpful when it comes to diagnosis. My dog was diagnosed with Giardia and unfortunately I was talking to the office desk person and was placed on hold multiple times instead of being given the opportunity to talk to the tech or vet. Definitely not on par with previous veterinarians I have been to in the past. Will not be returning, I have found much happier, helpful providers at other locations. Returning to my last vet, its worth the drive for the better visit.
Good vets and service. Pets are typically seen by next available practitioner who wont always have the time to thoroughly read patient charts, and weve had to be on top of what procedures/approaches have been tried with our pets to prevent duplication. Otherwise, their know-how seems legit.
As a first time pet owner, I was anxious about taking my new pup to the vet. I wasnt sure what to expect. My experience at Manchaca Village Veterinary Care was wonderful. I was put at ease immediately when I walked in and saw all the friendly, smiling faces. We were greeted and taken care of right away. The facility is clean and spacious. We didnt wait too long before meeting with the doctor. They were very knowledgeable and informative. I had lots of questions and concerns and they addressed them all. I will definitely return to Manchaca Village for my pups needs and healthcare. They are superb! Check them out and dont forget to print the first-time/new patient exam coupon.
This place is absolutely amazing! They really went the extra mile to take care of my gorgeous dog. She had a bad skin wound. They took care of her immediately. They even gave her an old shirt left behind a former employee so she wouldn’t scratch her stitches. I’m so beyond grateful to Dr. O. She really cares. A shout out to Cheryl as well for her fabulous bedside manner and using ASL to communicate with me as I’m deaf. Have no fear for your fur babies in this place they are in great hands! The location may be at the very tip of south Austin but it’s worth going there for friendly empathetic staff that really listens to your concerns. This place doesn’t deserve 5 stars they deserve the equivalent of Michelin 5 stars :-) the vet clinic features a nice welcoming wide porch to congregate. It faces a lush fenced yard behind the building where the dogs can take care of business. I didn’t get to take a good look at the scope of the backyard as I was focused on going straight into the clinic but this was all from a glance.
My two dogs and I have been going to MVVC for about 3 years. We absolutely love their team! They’re always honest, helpful, polite, and professional. I truly feel they have my dogs’ best interest at heart and that they genuinely care about their health and well-being. Highly recommend!
I have visited twice now with two separate dogs and have had two different vet techs and docs. Along with the people at the front desk. These people are amazing knowledgeable and genuinely care about animal care rather than profit. Very fast and efficient and our family thanks you all!!!
I took my senior dog into their clinic because I’ve heard wonderful things and it’s a convenient location from my house. Dr Troy Smith and his staff were absolutely wonderful!! I am officiallyMoving my pets to their establishment. He went over and beyond with recommendations and answered in depth, all my questions and concerns. He was extremely thorough Sadie’s exam and I’m so happy I tried them out.
We have lived in Buda since 2007 and our daughter recommended using Manchaca Village Vet for our pets. Although we could have chosen a vet closer to us we chose to bring our pets there and have never regretted that decision.Over the years the office staff and vet tech.s have had some changes but that has never affected the friendly and competent service we have received. All of the vets seen have been nothing but compassionate and professional. We would especially like to give a shout out to Dr. Sandra Ontiverous....or: Dr:.Owho we have come to know over the years. She is nothing short of of the ideal vet....friendly, caring, willing to listen and so very knowledgeable. There have been times when we would leave a message for her during the day and we would get a call from her after clinic hours or on her cell phone after a long day at the clinic She has seen us through some tough times when we lost one of our dogs and she expressed nothing but empathy over our loss. We would never hesitate to recommend her or Manchaca Village Vet.
We have been using Manchaca Village Veterinary care for over 8 years; both our dog and cat have received the best care here. The staff are really friendly and professional. We always feel that they are more than just people working at a job, they are passionate and enthusiastic regarding animals in general. Sandra Amoroso is an excellent doctor and the clinic feeds off of her energy and dedication to the healing of all creatures which pass through her doors.I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Manchaca Village Veterinary Care; if you are looking for the same love and dedication you heap on your pet, they will not be disappoint you.
My first visit with my Bear went as comforting and caring as any vet I have been to. All the personal and the two vet/Doctors were very caring and took all the time I needed. The products they have to offer and of course their services are top notch. The facility is spotless and has a homey feeling too. if you and your best buddy(s) are anywhere near Manchaca - do yourself a favor and check them out!As I have come to expect with Manchaca Village Vet Care - my experiences have all been the best!Bob Hoff
This is by far the best veterinary clinic I have ever brought my pets to. All of the front desk staff, vet techs and veterinarians are fantastic and I have never had anything short of a great experience during all of my visits for my three animals. They even helped me by performing emergency surgery on my cat while I was out of the country and updated me on his status through emails with pictures. I truly love this practice!
Dr. O and her team were exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We are new patients, and we already feel at home. We feel relieved to have such a strong group of professionals available for us and our beloved dog. Its super fun too that they have a sign listing all of the pets visiting that day.
I went to Manchaca Village Vet Care for the first time yesterday with a cat that we found and are keeping. I had such a wonderful experience! The office is very clean and warm, and the staff at the front desk are kind and helpful. The vet tech and doctor were so wonderful with our new kitty. They were cheerful and loving. They explained everything, and gladly repeated things when I needed clarification. I will be coming back here for a long time!
I really enjoy coming here, they are very helpful. Good with shots. I did get some mixed advice that I felt hindered my puppy experience. Was told not to expose my puppy to basically anything....... but expose him. Dont bring him around any dogs but he need to socialize. But keep him in a bubble in your house in your yard and dont bring him anywhere. I left so confused and didnt do much with my puppy and now hes a bit of a bully to other dogs. Its so frustrating. Not good advice for a first time puppy owner...
The staff at Manchaca Village Veterinary Care are very nice and knowledgeable. They have taken great care of my little fur baby and made sure he was as healthy as he could possibly be. He loves the vet and is so excited when he figures out that we are going there. Watch there video on Facebook about gunners little happy dance.
I have been a client of Dr. Smiths for over 10 years. He has treated my numerous dogs and cats with utmost care and compassion. Appointments are always on time and never rushed. I always leave with all my questions answered. The staff always recognizes me and my animals and are very helpful. I highly recommend this facility and assure you that your loved pets will receive the very best treatment.
A dear friend recommended this vet clinic. Not only the vet clinic is close to home which made my 1st appt easily to access. As a new pet owner in my entire life, Dr. Smith and Liz were perfect for me. Even with COVID-19 upon us, curbside care is what my 1st puppy appt had to be. Liz, practicing social distancing, explained to me with step by step instructions what Lucky’s new pet appt would entail. Then Dr. Smith called me to give Lucky’s health review he gave me the time to ask all of my new puppy questions. They were so very kind, thoughtful and encouraging. I found my vet appt reasonably priced. Lucky and I are looking forward to our next visit.Lorie and Lucky Kashanchi
Great staff! They really love the animals that come in and try to build trust with them. My dog in particular is quite skittish and they get her to come to them when shes ready and feels more comfortable (with a little help with treats of course). Very professional atmosphere. A little pricy, but for the service they provide to you and your pets makes it worth going to them over a cheap low end vet
The doctors and staff at Manchaca Village Veterinary Care are excellent and the facility is very clean and well-equipped. Our sweet Airedale, Abby, is treated with great kindness and gentleness, and she is very content to be there. I also like the monthly emails I receive reminding me to give Abby her heartworm and flea treatment, as well as the reminders about her annual shots. Its been a very pleasant experience for us at this clinic. Thank you!!
We took our 10 month old Chihuahua to be spayed and we were very pleased with the service provided. The technicians were very nice and professional and they treated our Bella like she was their own. They explained in detail what was going to be performed and then provided a very detailed report of what was done the day of the surgery. They did such a great job that Bella has experienced very little if any pain since the surgery. As a matter of fact, she is back to her normal self and is eager to jump and play around like before. For her own good we are keeping her in a crate for 10 days. It would have a lot cheaper if we had taken her Vet in Taylor, Texas but Im sure they would not have provided the same service and care that she received here. We made the right decision in having the service performed here. They made it a point to call the day after to check on Bellas progress. Thanks to all the staff of Manchaca Village Veterinary Care for a job well done.
We love our visits to the Manchaca Village Vet Care! It is such a warm and compassionate environment! We have a very timid pup and he does amazing with the team! I recommend this practice to anyone in need of veterinary services in the South Austin area, you won’t be disappointed.
You guys are totally AWESOME! I moved to the east side recently so Im farther than I used to be but I will always continue to use your clinic because of the great people who work there and your willingness to see my pets (in urgent situations) at the last minute or even at the very end of the day. Ive been a happy customer for 8 years now and I wouldnt trust anybody else with my little girls! Thank you for all you do!
Had a horrible emergency with a foster Pekingese having an eye displaced from a fight with another dog. My regular vet was closed, so I called this vet and they got me in immediately, within 30 seconds of walking in.It was a true emergency with her eye sticking two inches out of her eye socket, and the vet and the vet techs were nothing short of fantastic. Professional, personable, and as helpful as possible.Such a great handling of the emergency that I am strongly considering making this my regular vet.
I have been here multiple times, and every time all of the employees have been extremely friendly and helpful. They are careful to explain everything, since we usually have many questions. Their services are very affordable. My husband and I tend to be the type to worry about many little things that occur with our pets, and they are always very reassuring and able to talk us through our many concerns. I will continue to support this vet clinic for as long as we have animals. Great service, great location! My favorite vet clinic by far!
I really enjoyed my experience there. I took both my dogs in for annual exams and vaccination updates (this was my first visit). They were ready for me when I arrived on time (no waiting around), and were pleasant, careful and thorough with my dogs. Dr. Ontiveros wasnt rushed, explained everything and invited questions (one reason I left my old vet was that I never saw the vet - only the assistants). The bill was around half of what it wouldve been at the old place, so that was a nice bonus.
Manchaca Village Vet is fantastic! Friendly staff always remembers my dog by name and theyll take the extra the time to answer all of my questions. They send me text reminders of my appointments and always follow up after every appointment to make sure everything is going well. I recommend them to all of my pet-owning friends.Their overnight boarding is also very affordable. I use them every time I go out of town.
I adopted my pup about 1.5 months ago. They did the first visit for free since she was a rescue dog. The staff was very caring and patient with her as she learned her new surroundings, and did a thorough exam. As a new parent I have called several times with questions, and they are always very helpful. It has been a pleasure working with them so far, and we plan to stay with them!
I highly recommend taking your loved ones to Manchaca Village Veterinary. We took our Prince after we had taken him to the groomers and noticed something was not right afterwards. I called Manchaca Village and explained my concern for my puppy and that I wanted someone to see him because he looked like he was in pain. They gave me an appointment for that same day, explained the online paperwork, and when we got there the asst and doctor were very good to prince and immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Prince was back to his old self and we are very happy with the service and care they took with prince. We will definitely be going back!
Manchaca Village Vet care is the best. They greet our dogs with kindness and respect. Our dog Honey is so scared of everything but the folks at Manchaca Village manage to ease her fears and actually get her to cooperate. They also let me know when the next care visits are due and they make it easy to set up appointments. I live in far south Austin so this clinic i perfect for me.
Dr. Smith was amazing . We typically see Dr. O who is also amazing. Dr. Smith explained everything to us about what Our sweet girl could possibly be suffering from and gave us practical application for her treatment. The front desk staff and Vet Tech who interacted with us are always very helpful and super caring. Keep up the great work.
Manchaca Village Veterinary have taken care of our dogs, Buddy and Scooter, for about two years and we are very pleased with the service they have provided. Their facility is clean and fresh smelling, the staff is always cheerful and professional, and the doctors are great. We recommend them wholeheartedly.
There are cheap alternatives out there, but you get what you pay for—that being a highly educated and compassionate staff. My experience extends to both my crazy Weimaraner dog and my girlfriend’s shy cats, all of whom are happy patients at Manchaca Village Vet. I think animals pick up on caring hands, because visiting Dr. O and her technicians is actually a fun and painless process. The staff is professional and super-friendly. We always get rational explanations and are NEVER rushed or pressured. The advice we take has been spot on. We’ve avoided big bills because we follow their wellness plan and keep them healthy.
Weve just started taking our new puppy here, and weve had only 5 star positive experiences in our first few visits! All the staff - doctors and assistants - are very knowledgeable, attentive and shower our pup with love. We also appreciate the convenience factor - they email with reminders for appts and call to check in on the pup. Love em!
Ive been taking Tungsten here for the last couple of months and Im always so pleased with the great service provided. Dr. O diagnosed a heart murmur we never knew about and hes seen several veterinarians. The staff is always friendly and accommodating with my mini emergencies. Once tungsten got into a dog fight and this week he got an acute enterocolitis from eating Amys ice cream. We saw Dr. Smith yesterday who was very thorough in his exam and patient instructions. Needless to say this is a great office and I would recommend to anyone!
I adopted a dog through PetsAlive and after looking around, it turned out that the vet care closest to me got great reviews! So I took my young puppy here. I was immediately impressed with everyone, friendly, knowledgeable and understanding that my 2 month old puppy has a scared bladder (oops). After a couple of visits I was sure to call this my vet.Dr Smith & Dr Ontiveros, backed up by their friendly and helpful staff are great! Manchaca Village Vet really welcomes your dog, and offer helpful hints to keep them healthy and safe. I was out of town and my dog at a kennel when she hurt her leg. The kennel brought her in to see her Drs here, and I received many updates from the entire Dr team and Vet clinicians.I also find it very convenient that I can both schedule visits + order medication refills through the website.Keep up the small town, friendly feel to pet healthcare!
We adopted a dog from Austin Pets Alive. They indicated that Cody had vet issues in the past and the visit to my previous vet did not go well (as in the vet asked why I was keeping this dog and didnt bother to look at the dogs history at ALL). We ved to another vet when I found Manchaca Village Vet Care. They couldnt have been more accommodating and helpful with Cody. We did a happy visit and due to unforeseen health circumstances had to make numerous visits and saw numerous vets. Everyone was great with us and with Cody. They outlined the options and costs, put our mind at ease and made Cody comfortable. I am very happy that we found them!
I first went to MVVC when I adopted a senior dog and they were the closest clinic to me offering free 1st time checks for APA adoptions. I was amazed with the zen atmosphere of this clinic and decided to continue using their services. The staff is professional and concerned with providing the best care for my pets. I’m always provided an estimate with options before treatment. I really appreciated the pragmatic approach for treating my senior pets.Like most clinics MVVC has a board where the “patients” with scheduled appointments are listed. That is sweet, but I’m more impressed by the fact that I am greeted by my name when I walk in the door. It’s very cliche these days to say “it takes a village...”, but I’m glad I have this “Village” as partners in caring for my pets.
MVVC has been amazing to work with while going through all the health issues with my dog. From offering water to coffee to local brew while youre waiting, to being sensitive and caring, to being professional and knowledgeable. Of course, the fact that the doctors, and the staff, are very knowledgeable and very experienced, goes without saying. They have shown immense patience with me and my baby. I wouldnt go anywhere else, even if I moved to north Austin!
I liked that they were able to get us in right away when my dog had hurt her leg. The tech was helpful and calm with my pet and did an excellent job holding her still so the Doctor could look at her. The Doctor gave me different options for our care and we decided together what would work best for me and my pet. I love getting email reminders for meds and vaccinations. Pleasant calm atmosphere at the office.
Took my cat here for a checkup and get some vaccines. He’s a friendly, gregarious cat who’s leash trained. Instant we walked through the door, I felt I made a mistake bringing him here. Incessant noise of dogs barking put us both on edge. Waited a very long time in a room filled with pet hair (not clean at all). Vet walks in, suggests we do the shots, some tests and that they’ll clip his claws too, and they lead my cat by leash to the back while everyone is remarking how cute he is. 5 minutes later, they bring him back in the room wrapped in a towel shivering. And oh, he was too worked up to trim his claws. Then we wait for about 15 minutes for them to get their stuff together to bring me a bill for nearly $300. Then they have the nerve to email me a few days later to ask how he’s doing, I respond he wasn’t happy, and they responded that that’s normal. Never coming back here. Maybe they’re good with dogs, but they don’t know much about cats nor how to treat them right.
Now that my husband and I are retired and our children live far away, our two little Schnauzers are our girls -- our babies. The type of care they receive at Manchaca Village Vet is as important to us as our own medical care. We love our girls! And while Dr. Smith and Dr. O are always professional, they also have big hearts that allow them to demonstrate their love for our precious pets. The staff reflects the attitude of the doctors -- professional and big hearted. Theres no way we would entrust Lexi and Annie to anyone else. Thank you Manchaca Village Vet. You are, and have always been, a blessing to our family!
We have only had good experiences so far with this vet. Everyone is very friendly, especially to our dog. We never feel rushed during our appointments which is huge. Anything we are on the fence about they do not push us on. We have found the staff to be very helpful and informative.
I have been taking my dog here since 2007 and have always been very pleased with the care he receives! Dr. Ontiveros and Dr. Smith are always very friendly, patient, and thorough. The rest of the staff is great as well. My dog LOVES to go to the vet, as soon as we walk in the door he is so excited to get into a room. We look forward to taking our dog here for many more years!
Love this place! They are so so so nice and take very very good care of your pet. My cat had the laser neuter done and he recovered so well. They called to check on him a couple of days after and he was great. The meds helped him feel no pain, in fact he was even more active after the neuter than before. I was worried it would hurt him or take away from his playful personality but he has been the same if not more fun since. I love this place and hope to take my baby and future babies here for life :D
Manchaca Village Vet Care is awesome. They treat pets with care and consideration. I have two dogs that go here for all their veterinary needs. They both are excited to go and love the docs. All the staff are great with animals and people. Excellent customer service. And reasonably priced too . Highly recommended.
Without a doubt, this is a Wonderful place that takes awesome care of your furbaby, and makes sure they are healthy & happy when going home.all staff are very pleasant & knowledgeable..their app is very user friendly..with a quick reply to any of your questions/concerns(+ you can earn pet perks)Thank you Manchaca Village Veterinary for your services..Highly Recommended
I was so impressed with the service especially in the season we find ourselves in w/ Covid & the quarantine. Even though we cant physically come inside the office for vet visits with our pet your entire team made us feel safe that our fur baby was taken care of and kept us well informed during and after the visit. Thank you.
I have brought my dog aka my son Sam to this vet for many years and both doctors and vet techs have taken very good care of my dog. He recently passed away and lived to be 14 years old thanks in part to Manchaca Vet clinic. I just recently got a new dog that I will be bringing very soon (this Friday) for them to be my new dogs vet. I dont think that you will or can be disappointing with this vet.
Manchaca Village Veterinary Care is wonderful. We have two older dogs, one of which has anxiety problems. They have been nothing but helpful in dealing with us. They have convenient hours and will always manage to work us in if we have an emergency. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
I just got off the phone with an amazing vet tech name Claire. She was beyond helpful with my situation and put me at ease after a long stressful night with my dog. I can only imagine how incredible the rest of the staff is if Claire is this awesome. I havent established my dog at a vet yet other than Emancipet and now I know exactly where to take her. I dont normally throw down a review like this and this place most definitely deserve it. Im so thankful!!!
My boy Charlie was super sick and the vet office willingly took him in on an emergency appointment. Theyve been super attentive and beyond helpful. I think they will definitely be my permanent vet after this.Thank you for being so helpful and so willing to work with me and Charlie in this hard time!
We have used MVVC for years. They are always wonderful, attentive, thorough, and caring about my 4 legged children. One of my dogs, Ajax, has a pretty high phobia of people and just loses it at the vet. They have me tranquilize him and they have to muzzle him and I completely understand. During his appointment yesterday, Dr. Smith came out mid exam to let me know he was doing fine, was tolerating the exam well, and not to worry. He also made me feel better about Ajaxs anxiety and to not worry about it. Some dogs are just wound a bit tighter than others, and that is definitely Ajax. Thank you for treating him, and me, with dignity despite his attitude.
I have been bringing my Cairn terrier to MVVC ever since I got her from the rescue group in 2006, and my son brings his dogs and cat here as well. I could not ask for a better or more caring place to provide veterinary services to my cherished pets. Every single person who works there loves animals, and it shows in the welcoming environment and stellar service they provide. They are also among the most up-to-date veterinary offices in Austin, being one of the only places in town to offer stem-cell therapy for arthritic dogs. They have automated their appointment and reminder systems to make your experience even more convenient. I wouldnt take my pets anywhere else.
For the times that I have been to Manchaca Village Veterinary Care they have been very courteous, friendly and very knowledgeable about any issues that I may have about my dog. They are very quick in processing test results. They made my dog feel very comfortable and relaxed during his visit especially since he was a bit nervous.
Shiner has been seeing Dr. O since she was first rescued, 6 years ago. Dr. Ontiveros is always very friendly, upbeat and explains things well. She takes her time and makes sure to ask if you have any questions. Many doctors will rush you in and out, especially routine visits so I appreciate the care this office shows.
I highly recommend Manchaca Village Veterinary Care!! They are awesome. My dog loves everyone there and he has grown very attached to all the workers. They take very good care of my Tyson and he looks forward to every visit he has to make.Thank you so much for taking such good care of Tyson!! You all at Manchaca Village Veterinary Care are truly the best!!!
I took my cat in because he was having trouble with an allergic reaction to fleas. The staff there is beyond amazing! Ive never had a better vet experience in the 10 years Ive had my cats! Their Fear Free approach works, and I cannot recommend them enough! Great Job, Manchaca Village Vet Care, great job!!!
I was referred to Manchaca Vet Clinic by my neighbor. I was new to the Austin area and nervous as to where to take my two dogs (who are like my children) for their annual check up. I was impressed with the cleanliness (especially the fresh smell!) of the clinic and the friendliness of the staff. The doctor and technicians were great with my dogs as well as me. I will definitely continue to use Manchaca Vet Cinic.
The staff and doctors are always filled with positive energy which allows both owner and pet to relax. I always feel welcome by the warmth of everyones smiles and friendly dispositions. Mostly,, the reason I continue to go back and put the care of my animals in their hands is because they sincerely love your pet as much as you do. Everyone who works there is not only highly knowledgable about animals and gives the most trusted care but they also give all the love they can to everything that walks through their doors. Everyone seems to love what they do and it shows. Its the little things that is given and it is noticed. My dogs, Chaos and Cash love coming here!
The staff here is very friendly and they have a very short wait time. They take the time to explain what you are being quoted and give you ranges of what the medicine might cost. Their online services are also great and a time saver. They are not as affordable as other locations but they also have more availability than those other locations. I would take my dog here again.
My name is Karen and I have used Manchaca Village a good many years. I have never found a better doctor or staff. When I have had to put one of my animals, the staff and the doctors have been very understanding and always tired to put me in ease and let me cry on there shoulder. I will never go to another, because they always seem to know just what my animals and me need. They will always be the one for me and my animals. The Doctors and staff are friendly and knowledgeable and you can trust them with any pet.
My dog Zach has had excellent care at Manchaca Village, since we moved to the area almost ten years ago. Everyone there is very caring and treats him like he is important to them. Now I have another dog who has had his first visit there, and he had no complaints about them either!
We have been bringing our pets to this clinic for years. The entire office staff is just great and very loving toward your pet. We see either vet and are pleased with the care and attention they show toward our beloved dogs. Its easy to get an appointment and a convenient location if you live in southwest Austin or Manchaca.Kathy Weese
I love these people. They are the best. I have had my pets at this clinic since 2001. I dont even live close to the clink anymore. I still drive over there because they know what they are doing. The staff is great and very attentive. The vets that are there are just super. Always available for questions. Never rushing the visit. Keep up the good work!
The staff was very nice and polite. My fiancee and I were scheduled on a busy day, felt a bit rushed through the appointment, and walked away with some unanswered questions. Afterwards I spoke with Rob and we scheduled another appointment to address the questions I had. He was very genuinely concerned with our satisfaction, and after speaking with him I am happy to give them another chance. Excellent customer service, thank you.Edit: We just got home from the appointment and we are very pleased. We saw Dr. O and she was awesome! She was very thorough and informative. Thanks again!
Our Big dog Harley has been afraid of Vets as long as we have had him. He was an abused pup and biting was an issue before we had him. So I had used MVVC years ago with our cats and loved them and gave them a call. Explained the issue and asked for the female vet, the would at least increased our odds.I loved the new back door entrance which he loved too. I brought his favorite and only addiction a tennis ball. He was completely relaxed. I could not believe it. We played ball in the waiting room. He was not nervous at all. Jumped up to say Hi to the young girl at the counter. Like he felt this was a good place. When we went back to the room, he still just played, jump up on the scale, not afraid, Dr. and Tech were very understanding of his issues and we all just got to know each other, he was happy and no muzzle required. He got everything completed he needed to and the rest we put off till next time to make this a very positive experience.MVVC always carefully listens to my concerns, explains any tests or treatments that might be needed. If something can be done at home they tell me. Harley if healthy and happy because I listen to them and they listen to me. If I need something quick done from a tech sometimes it would be no charge. I can communicate with them through email or phone and a vet is always available.Harley our awesome dog and Chewy our beautiful old lady kitty. In their office they offer a lot of information for pet care and disease and food. Education and first class treatment is primary in their office.I love them and Harley gives 2 Paws Up!!!
Last week we had to say goodbye to our Great Dane, who had been diagnosed with an aggressive bone cancer in her leg.Ive gone through this process before with previous animals and I can attest that this was, though a sad situation, handled in the most caring, compassionate way that I had ever experienced.I cant say enough how much the staff and Dr. O have gone out of their way to make every interaction the best it can be.Thank you for all that you did for Maggie. Her life ended peacefully and we were able to say goodbye in a way that felt reassuring and compassionate. This is our vet clinic for life.Warm Regards,Christian Gribble
After more than two years of bringing our pups here, Im officially done. The staff is kind, the techs are sweet and the vets are knowledgeable - thats probably what kept us around for the two years we stayed because other than that, its been a very lackluster, mostly frustrating experience. This past visit we brought both dogs in for an annual checkup which ended up being nothing other than a complete & total money grab. I think we were sold on different vaccines (majority of which totally ridiculous for our two INDOOR dogs) for over an hour and a half. And when I turned down an unnecessary vaccine, I was told some horror story of a random puppy that came in once and died or almost died because it didnt have that vaccine. This happened 3 times on this visit. Seriously? Its like they were all just coached on selling techniques before we came in. They also tried to sell us on fecal exams, blood work, and xrays - all of this before even LOOKING at our healthy pets. Absolutely no underlying reason for all this work other than for Manchaca Village to pad their wallets. What put me over the top was the $60 ear swab they wanted to perform on our golden who has constant yeast ear infection issues and has been treated for them by this vet several, several times - but they wanted to perform yet another expensive swab so they could make sure it was just yeast againnnnn. Its been JUST YEAST every single time and, in fact, she was still under the same yeast infection treatment I had already paid for LAST visit when we came back in for this visit. So, if their meds dont work, theyll bill you again to test for the same exact treatment they are going to try YET AGAIN, unsuccessfully. Its a cyclical moneymaker for them and Im 100% over it. Our bill was going to be $450 before I weeded out a bunch of the unnecessary procedures - $450 for two healthy dogs that have no issues other than one with the same yeasty ear we came in and paid $225 for the month prior... umm, no.I tried this small vet in hopes that they would be more hands on and attentive than the large vet from our previous neighborhood but honestly, they make our old vet look awesome. Even though this is a small clinic we very rarely get the same vet for more than two visits in a row - so they never build a relationship or knowledge of our dogs like a genuine small clinic would. But they still have small boutique vet prices? Its a lose/lose scenario for the customer, win/win for them.I will say, the front desk staff is very kind and I love all of the techs weve ever had. They are also good about sending you reminders of your upcoming visit, and sometimes a tech will send a followup email which is also nice. The techs and front desk are pretty much the only reason theres two stars on this review instead of one. Sorry MVVC, well be going elsewhere from now on.
Allen and Laura were amazing. Have outstanding customer service. Thanks so much for the quick results. Allen, I really appreciated you coming out and letting me know what to expect concerning Westlys plan of attack concerning his heart guard medication. I also appreciated the complimentar nail trimming while he got his heart warm test. I would also like to compliment Laura for her outstanding customer care/service. She totally helped me out in signing me up on your online store. She was very patient and gracious. This kind of customer service and attention to each individual patient is why I keep coming back for my doggie needs. I have recommended you before and will continue to do so.Thanks again for having a 5 star customer care Vet service.Sincerely,Westley & Mauro
Competent, calm, and helpful!I just moved to Manchaca with two 4 year old cats. I took them in to get caught up on their vaccinations and get some Revolution. The staff there is super friendly and knew how to review the pros and cons of options and offer a recommendation without being pushy. Very appreciated!
This is my 2nd review of this business. My first one wasnt very positive. I thought they rushed through the initial exam and had misdiagnosed my dog. However, they made a follow-up call and when I told them he wasnt getting better, they made another appointment for that same day to do a more thorough exam. When I got home from work to take him to the appointment, he was feeling much better. He was acting much morenormal. I realized later that evening that the medicine they had prescribed was causing him to be lathargic and non-responsive which were the same symptoms I took him in for in the first place. I cut back on his pain meds and hes doing much better. And as they start to ware off, he brightens up, so Im convinced he is getting better. And I am very pleased with the treatment as well as the reasonably priced services. They are open on Saturday and have an emergency clinic on premises. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of a Veterinarian.
My little rescue girl Hope is a very special case and she has come a tremendously long way with the help and care of everyone at Manchaca Village. Dr. Smith is wonderful with animals and the vet techs there, you can not find more loving and caring people. Hope has made some miraculous changes and we owe it all to these wonderful people and their establishment!
The front desk staff were condescending, more than once. When they forgot to hand me my paper prescription for flea medicine- they insisted I come pick it up as they do not have the ability to fax it/electronically send it to the pharmacy? Bullsh*t. That is after I dropped $750 to have my dogs tooth removed. When talking prices for said tooth removal they made me feel shamed for being concerned about the cost- when their estimate was $750-$1200. Maybe that is not much money to them, but it is to me. I felt like I needed to apologize for asking questions. There was a feeling of entitlement or snobbishness from the staff- with the exception of the Vets and one Vet tech. The Veterinarians I met were wonderful- but whoever is in charge of the front office is failing.
We thought we had at last found a vet that we really liked. The first few times we took our dog here the service was great. We took her for a lumpectomy in April and were very pleased with the way she was treated as well as the look of the incision and wound area. She needed another lumpectomy and a tooth extraction which we had done in July. We found out the night before that this would be done by a different doctor. I wasnt very happy about that but we had waited 2 weeks for the appointment and our schedule was tight so we went ahead with the procedure. The area that was shaved for the incision had been scraped and was oozing. The stitches looked awful. The skin was pulled up and there was a big lump on each end. I emailed the clinic the next day and never heard back from them. We wont be going back there again.
5 stars is an understatement!MVV saved our dear Jewels life. She is 7 yo and we were unaware of the consequences of not spaying your dog. Jewels developed a life threatening condition requiring emergency surgery. MVV had resources for our individual needs. If it wasnt for ALL of the staffs attention to detail, knowledge and love for animals we may not have been so lucky.Highly recommend anyone!
I brought in my sisters cat to get checked out while she was out of town. The staff were friendly and worked me in for an appointment at the last minute, and even then I was seen quickly for my appointment. I appreciated all of their help, and felt they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.
I have been coming here with my dog every 2 weeks for the past few months and I can only say great things. I always see Dr. O and vet tech, Cheryl and they are awesome and so compassionate. My dog even gets excited when we pull into their parking lot. I dont think I will every go anywhere else in the future.
Always enjoy going with my animals to this vet. Everyone is friendly and the staff is so helpful. I appreciate the attention given by the vet yesterday to my dog Mary Ann (aka Marley). Thanks too for letting my other dog Howie to visit. He does not like Mary Ann to get out of his sight.
Everyone there is so accomidating and friendly. With 2 large dogs and a baby it is hard to get in and out for appointments with ease. The staff always comes out to help get the dogs in and out of the car. They have even brought paperwork and grabbed samples curbside. I really do appreciate these small things, as well as the great doggy healthcare.
I have been with this veterinary clinic for over 13 years and never had a negative experience. Dr. Smith and Dr. Ontiveros along with all of the staff are very compassionate, understanding & willing to assist you in any way possible. Dr. Smith and Dr. Ontiveros ensures you truly understand their diagnoses, plan of treatment and caring needs for your pet. Each have proven to be successful in accurately diagnosing & treating illnesses & injuries. You can make appointments online and receive a timely response. Something I personally like is receiving vaccination & wellness exam reminders. The clinic is easy to find and clean. If you are looking for a vetinarian that you can trust, this is the place to go.
Best Vets and techs ever. I would go there if 4 legged. They have repeatedly solved my two dog’s problems from torn ACL to pancreatis. I trist their knowledge and expertise. They responded very quickly when my 10 year old developed pancreatic symptoms and started treatments. I so love this practice we take them home made brownies from Mongoose and PJ and we only share our brownies with the very best!!
I have taken both of my cats here for their check ups and shots, and have had a great experience. One cat had developed infections in both his ears, and Dr. Ontiveros was great with him during the exam and checking his ears. When I brought in both cats for their shots, Dr. Smith was very thorough and, like Dr. Ontiveros, kept the kitties calm the entire time. I appreciated that the technicians generated a quote before any work was done, and helped me decide what to take care of during that visit, and what could wait until a future visit. Also, like everyone else said, the SMELL! I previously worked at a vets office, so I know how hard it is to have an office that doesnt smell like, well, a vets office. I dont know what they do, but its magic.
Everyone has been so helpful and friendly. The young lady I spoke with to schedule our appointment was amazing, the tech was friendly, courteous and welcoming, and the vet was not just running through our appointment to get to the next one. Just an awesome experience.
HaSandra Ontiveros, DVM, Troy Smith, DVMd to go twice, both times they worked me in and were gracious and kind. The first time Dr Troy Smith spent way more time with me and my dog than he needed to (had the same problem when i did family practice), the charge was way reasonable as well. We both left happy (my dog and I). Had to go back after she started nail biting and chewed up here feet. Dr Ontiveros was sensational (the staff is superb, professional, kind, caring and smiling). After spending way too much time with me again, I got a follow up call the next day by Dr. O personally. If i ever move to texas, this will be my vet no matter where i live.
Manchaca Village Vet has been excellent to all THREE of my dogs :) It is clear from the front desk to the visit with the doctors that they provide thoughtful services and care for every animal that walks through their doors. To a science geek by the way (who asks too many questions), it looks to me some super smart doctors, nurses, and assistants who really love what they do to be so well informed with current research and various veterinary practices today; the opposite of my past 2 veterinary clinics. Its why I trust them enough to drive from my home in Barton HIlls (just 2.5 miles from downtown) to their clinic so far south (...as I pass 5 other vets in between...in AUSTIN traffic)! Thats gotta show you how much I love em ;) Consistently fantastic for the cpl of years weve been seeing them. Cant go wrong with them you guys! ^_^
Today we had to make the toughest decision our family has faced to put our beloved 15 year old fur baby to rest.MPV was his vet all 15 years. His care was never sub par. Nothing about losing your fur baby is easy, but MPV made the situation the best it could be. Even with the pandemic, our baby was able to go in peace.Thank you MPV for always caring for our fur babies.God bless the staff who assisted with Tut today. You are all truly angels, helping with Gods work on earth.
Stick with me on this set up. The analogy is appropriate. The PBS show “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood” has the titular character Fred Rogers visit different locations that were all seemingly located within walking distance of his home. Whenever he walked in, everyone knew him and greeted him as if he had been a patron or a visitor of those locations for years. That’s pretty much on-the-nose with how I felt the first time I strolled into Manchaca Village Veterinary Care with my girlfriend and our new shelter pup Nalli. From the reception desk to the vet tech and finally to our doctor, the staff were wonderfully accommodating in answering our questions and informing us on how to navigate the next few weeks and months of our new pup. It also helped that they work hand-in-hand with local shelters in the surrounding Cap City Area.I’ll gladly recommend MVVC to my friends if it comes up and I’m going to have a hard time *not* calling them for human problems when I’m not feeling well myself! High fives all around, Manchaca Veterinary!
Used to love them when we first started going to them about a year ago. Practice has clearly gone down hill. Who doesn’t love hidden fees - need a nail trim? Get a tech exam you didn’t ask for as well but are expected to pay for (even though they don’t actually examine anything). They try to justify it by explaining clearly that they did a bait and switch, prices changed, that they “discounted” the nail trim etc. False information, clearly fueled by the drug companies that give a kick back not what’s best. Recommend unnecessary, costly treatments. Interesting how our dog could be “strong positive” for heartworms but when we look her to another vet they even showed us the test to show us the result was so low it barely even gave a reading on the test. 1 year ago it was great, my dog and I loved going in there, friendly, happy staff. Now everyone in there is just miserable and rude, don’t even bother trying to go higher up for help. The practice manager, will just read you forms you already have and talk to you like you don’t have a clue. Really sad to see such a good practice go down the drain. *** UPDATE: I also left this review on Facebook where I was bombarded with an awful, rude and fully false response from them, I’ve since learned this is a common scare tactic they use to get people to take down reviews. I’ve spoken with 24+ other people in a neighborhood group who have had similar experience there, many of which MVVC also tried to spread lies about and bully into taking down their reviews, as they tried with me. PLEASE DON’T ENDANGER YOUR PETS AT MVVC!
Brought my cat in as a new client. Felt instantly, that this was not a good place to bring my animal. As I pulled up and went to front door to open it, it was locked. Realized I had to go all around the building holding my cat in my arms to go to the back part of building. Why? This is inconvenient for your customers with pets. When I got in there, there was a dog getting out of hand and trying not to get in room-with the owner scrambling around trying to push him in. Your staff just sat there and at last minute receptionist got up to attempt to help.Staff here is disorganized and unhelpful. Filled out client information on screen (I had already done this twice in line) and wondered, why am I doing this again? Got blood tests done and wanted me to come back fir a UA for my cat because they couldn’t get a urine sample, although they still charged me? Staff came back with a 400.00 bill when they gave me an invoice for 200. I told the staff that this is not what they said it would be. Woman was apologetic, but by that time I had had it. She cane back with correct bill, but this goes to show you they are not on top of things. Especially as a new client coming in and having to transfer after 3 years from a place down the street that I gave thousands of dollars to fir my cat that has has a gastrointestinal disease. don’t think I will even come back fir a UA-keep my money. Suggestion, and tip. Be a little bit more friendly to your customers and empathetic.Let me clarify on why they were unempathetic. Told Dr. O. About my cats illness and told her that I did not want to put him on pretezone, due to side effects. Although she replied with the benefits of pretizone (reduction in inflammation..etc,) which I was open to hearing, she then replied “if not, he’ll just continue to waste away.” At the end of the evaluation she had the odasity to tell me how frustrating it is for the doctors to not give us an answer, making this about “her” not the client or the animal. I didn’t want to put this down initially, but after your non-apologetic comments back, I felt the need to. Your response to “clearly you’re having a bad day” is passive aggressive-maybe Dr. O may have been having a bad day? Your response to To having to go around the building still is unwarranted. Why not put up a big sign so people do not have to park, get the animal out of the car and walk to the front door to read the small print to go around the back? Or not have your your business listed in the front? Or is this more convenient for the employees to go through the front door, but not the clients? This is exactly the kind of attitude I was talking about and just apologizing about the mistaken bill. What about the UA? And billing me for it and having to come back? Also, do you think everybody that comes into your building with their loved animal is happy to get no answer about what to do about their sick pet? I paid over 200.00 to get one word of advice-to take him to a specialist. Thanks a lot.
Manchaca Village Vet is AWESOME! My first time here was amazing. The staff was friendly, caring and knowledgable. I was very worried about my dog (Gidget) and her allergy problems. This was a problem that has been going on for a while, that I felt was never fully addressed by my vet. The staff here allayed all of my fears and helped create a collaborative plan to get Gidget feeling better fast, and she has! Gidget is doing great and its all thanks to Manchaca Village Vet.
I would award negative stars if I could. I had a senior dog wellness panel run on my beagle, only to be told that his liver enzymes were slightly elevated and that I should look for signs of cushings, but that otherwise there was nothing I should worry about. When I brought him into an emergency clinic for an unrelated issue, I was told that based off those very same tests hed had during his evaluation here, his levels were 30 times higher than they should have been and he needed further evaluation. After a sonogram, it was determined that my boy had liver cancer and needed surgery or he might not live another 4 months. He had the surgery and is in recovery but I will never forget the extreme negligence and cavalier attitude with which his initial results were treated here. I cannot express how upset I am. Missing an elevated marker is one thing, but when the value is 30x what its supposed to be, it just seems ridiculous to suggest its not concerning.
Dr. Smith, Dr. O, and the entire staff are so friendly, caring, efficient, and professional (I dont think Ive met Dr. Lynn yet). Everyone at MVVC makes you feel welcomed. They have taken care of Lacey, Ginger and Orvis very well; theyve always managed to squeeze us in whenever critical care was required. Dr. Smith always spends as much time answering questions, and addressing concerns, as the pet owner needs, even though Im sure hes quite busy.I started using MVVC back in 2003, when I first moved to Manchaca, when Brock was still alive.MVVC also has been quite gracious in working with Akins HS students, as interns and employees, over the years.Id highly recommend MVVC to any pet owner.
We have always brought our pets to Dr. Smith and Dr. Ontiveros. We feel that we have been treated extremely well and we recommend MVVC to anyone who needs veterinary care. We love the helpful and compassionate staff and the facility is always clean and friendly. We feel honored to have been a part of the MVVC family for the past decade!
The worst experience with this clinic! My dog has been attacked and I needed emergency care...I walked in and asked for help their front desk was more worried of leaving home early thank attending to emergency care I needed! GO TO VCA-Tangelwood! Their awesome there!!!
MVVC is always fantastic! They are so accommodating and understanding of our two boxers and their needs. It seems like they love our dogs as much as we do. Everytime they get a careful check-up and clearly communicate to us whats going on with our dogs. Thank you MVVC!
The staff at Manchaca Village Vet are knowledgeable and kind. They take great care of my dog, Ribeye, and cat, Frito. Ribeye is a little skidish of other dogs, so they are always quick to get us in an exam room, and let us check out from there so we dont spend much time in the lobby. They explain everything in easy to understand terms, but will go into greater detail when asked. Dr. Ontiveros talks to Ribeye the entire time and reassures her that everything is fine, which reassures me as well. I highly recommend them to anyone needing a vet in south Austin.
These guys have taken care of all 3 of my dogs and 2 cats since i moved to the area back in 2000 and have always done a great job. in particular they did exactly what was needed when it came time to put my first 2 dogs down, those 2 days will stay with me forever in a good way because their team did everything just right, thanks.
What can I say? Dr. O and the staff at MVVC rock!!Over the last five years, every experience has been caring, very personal, and our girls never seem to be stressed after a visit with Dr. O.We have the utmost trust in this group of professionals and look forward to many more years of patronage. Five stars from Joe, Steve, Maggie, Molly, and Chloe!
This place has so many things they can handle in-house without having to go to an enormous, less personable hospital. The whole staff is so friendly. We had a tough situation with one of our beloved pets and they could not have been better and more genuinely sympathetic.

2022-03-28Weve been taking our 19 yr old cat to Manchaca Village Vet for treatment of her chronic kidney disease for over a year, and we like them so much that we decided to move our dog to their vet care too. We especially appreciate that we never feel rushed here. Dr. Tolson took the time to explain his treatment recommendations, even drawing illustrations for us. The whole staff was clearly experienced at handling anxious dogs with care and gentleness, which helped put us all at ease. We love the happy visits recommendation to help our beloved dog get used to going there and do our best to make it a positive experience for her.

2022-07-23Weve been going to Manchaca village vet for over three decades now, theyre always the clinic I recommend to my friends in town. The staff is always super kind, whether youre just in for a quick tech visit or saying goodbye to a member of the family with their help. We love them and will continue to use them all long as were nearby.

2022-07-28After moving to the area I searched for a veterinary clinic suitable for my furry friend and let me tell you, this place was amazing! They booked my appointment on short notice and the staff was very helpful. On the day of the appointment(the next day) I could feel a high level of morale in the clinic. Every staff member I encountered were super nice. The office was clean, organized, and quiet. The staff handled my furry friend with extreme care and love. They actively listened to my concerns and offered expert advice for those concerns. It was an absolute pleasure of an experience. 5 star treatment for sure! Thanks for an easy and painless encounter. Highly recommend!

2022-05-1910/10 recommendation for this office for pet needs!! 100% communication about everything you need! Answers the phone quickly and answered all of my questions. I brought my dog Venus who is high anxiety and hard to manage. They were able to sedate her safely to do the exam, shots and nail trim! Vet himself called to explain what she needed and vet tech called to let me know when she was done for a drop off appointment! I can’t explain enough how nice and understanding they were for me! I will be a forever customer for my pet needs! Thank you for taking such good care of her!! ❤️

2022-05-28I started taking Amethyst to this Vet clinic initially after adopting her. It was super convenient since it was about 5min from home. We truly got lucky, staff is very professional/helpful and friendly. Amethyst does not seem stressed or scared, the techs and vets do a wonderful job to assure her she’s in good hands. I moved to RR last year and I still make the drive to south Austin because I truly trust this facility. The past two times we’ve visited, we met with Tech Dia and another with Dia+Dr Lubitz for an annual. You can tell they love what they do.

2022-01-18Our family has entrusted the care of our family pets to MVVC for over ten years and highly recommend. The staff is always professional, caring, and responsive. The facility is great and always clean, both inside and out. They provide both walk-in or curbside service based on your preference. They utilize an app called PetDesk , which is a great tool to have at your fingertips to help manage all of our pets needs, medical information, appointments, prescriptions, contact information, reminders, rewards, and more.

2022-06-13*Updating this review*5 stars because of the doctors. Reception was helpful in getting my dog in same day. Dr. Tulson and another doctor I saw a weekend months ago were incredible. My dog chased some fawns and mama deer didnt like it and attacked her. I called the next morning and they got me in super quick, Dr. Tulson put a suture in and my dad picked her up a couple hours later. They did her annual and vaccinations at the same time so I wouldnt have to pay another office visit fee. Thank you so muchCaution when buying/ordering medications in clinic. Reception is inconsistent with pricing and quantity. The vet was very nice who took care of us! She took the time to answer all of our questions and go over everything for my old puppers exam. Dr. Tulson is amazing and took the time to discuss options and made sure I understood everything he was talking about.

2022-03-09My fiance mentioned this place was expensive. I tried them and took his dog later. The veterinarian is really nice, knowledgeable, and she listens to all concerns even financial concerns. Plus they are close to the apartment!
