A good bite with a local, home feel. The queso is pretty good but could benefit from some more onions and something to give it a little extra boost. The chips had a good flavor but would have been awesome if served warm. The cheese enchiladas are quite tasty with the tortillas having a good corn flavor note in the overall taste profile. The fajitas at the next table looked great, we just didn’t have enough time to order them this time. Forgot to take pics since we were in a rush. Will tKe pics when we go back for the fajitas.
This place is one of the only restaurants I have ever been in that has not kicked me out for talking about my religion. for this alone i give a five star rating. If you looking for a grate happy hour this is the place to go. The bar tender is one of my friends. he will be sure to hook you up plus the chips and salsa are always free. Very Patriotic place.....J.C.M.
We used to come here every week until we moved away in 2015, so when we moved back in 2019 it was our first restaurant to visit. Unfortunately, its not the Manuels it used to be. The food is now entirely flavorless and severely lower quality and the service is truly awful. I brought some of my extended family in for my house warming party (12 people) and at every opportunity the waitstaff and owner were visibly annoyed at us, like coming to their restaurant was an inconvenience. First time was asking for another chair because... we didnt have enough chairs. Second time was asking for a high seat because... we had a baby. These seem like pretty basic restaurant requirements, right? In any case, our former Brenham favorite is now on our no-visit list.
This is a cute spot, small and artfully cozy, but timid and unchallenging with flavor. Your grandparents will be happy. They melt what appears to be craft american cheese on things. A good place to go if you can only tolerate very mild only but in in a nice atmosphere
Id like to give this restaurant a good rating but I just cant. The salsa that came with the chips was hardly salsa. There wasnt any flavor and it really resembled something that had been skimmed off some soup. The tamale that came with the plate looked like it had come out of a can. It most definitely was not fresh or homemade. The beans didnt have any seasoning and I couldnt add salsa because it wasnt any good either. The best thing in the plate was the rice and it wasnt fantastic. Ive made better rice in my kitchen. The cheese enchilada had more like cheese sauce inside than actual cheese. It was an overpowering flavor of cheese instead of an enchilada. The day that I visited there were copious amounts of flies in the restaurant. I spent more of my time whisking away flies and not eating. The inside of the restaurant looked drab and dated. Id like to give them another chance but I dont think I will for quite awhile.
The food was horrible. If I could give them a -2 I would. The beans had no flavor and there was lots of cheese sauce and very little meat. My wifes tamale tasted like it came from the frozen food section at your local grocery store. Food was wasted on me, however no effort was made to compensate me in any way.
I’ve only been to this restaurant two times and the first time they offered me a Frito pie, Mexican style, said it was going to be made with tortilla chips and it ended up coming out like a general Frito pie so there’s disappointment number one, disappointment number two and something you should all be aware of don’t listen to their online menu because apparently it’s from 10 years ago but this restaurant cannot inform Google to update their menu!??? Plus my friend got food poisoning TWICE from this place. Get it together or don’t and let someone else start running the joint. Save your money, Taco Bell’s equivalent.
Amazing food, fresh and hot. The wait staff was knowledgeable about all the food, and were so polite. Excellent salsa and chips, the queso was very tasty. Prices were great, myself and my boys ate there with drinks and question with three entrees and only spent @30.00Great experience
Stopped in for a quick snack at 9 pm +/-. Google stated they closed at 10, not so 930 Mon- Thurs. Its easier national Margarita Day, so......Marg was great, not so the deluxe nachos. A few chips on a bed of lettuce, smothered in Velveeta cheese and beef, no imagination at all in concept and taste....Im new to Texas but this was not the nachos Im used to in my former home of Colorado
Manuel’s is our favorite restaurant in Brenham! We’ve been customers for 25 years....they make you feel like family here. The new owners, Armando and his wife, are doing an outstanding job of keeping the quality of the foods the same quality. Also the ambiance is still just right. Our family of seven adults never comes home to Brenham without making a trip to Manuel’s.Keep up the good work!
Absolutely FILTHY, terrible service, sloppy and overpriced dishes. We asked for extra cheese on one of our dishes and received, when we reminded them again, a plate with a handful of shredded cheese on it and were charged $2 for it. The floor was sticky and wet, clumps of food were stuck to it, bugs in the bathroom and by the entrance. Ugh. I canNOT say adequately how repulsed I was by this experience.
Very good food, and typically good service but this time service was lacking in promptness and quality.Only one person that we dealt with knew English and the needs of our table could not be communicated. I do want to say though, the food is as good as always, the service was just scattered and unprofessional.
This place is amazing! I was in town visiting friends from school & was craving a good margarita. I hadnt been here since I was in my teens, so I had to try it out! Uh mazing and oh so satisfying is all I can say! Then I tried a Michelada with Dos X...it was pretty good too, but I had to go back to my margarita because Im more of that type of drinker.I ordered the fried pickles to start, cause who knew a Mexican restaurant served those! I was not disappointed at all! They were pretty tasty! I ordered the Carne Asada which comes with a skirt steak, one beef enchilada, refried beans & pico de gallo. I ordered this because I dont eat rice & was intrigued that this plate didnt come with it. This also did not let me down, although next time, I will be getting just enchiladas because I wanted more than just one.The staff was so kind and attentive! They treated everyone that walked through that door like family! My friends & I enjoyed every moment we were there. We laughed and talked and had an absolute wonderful time, that we did not even realize we were the last ones there. The only downside of this place, are the hours. Besides that, I definitely recommend this place!
Terrible service. we had to ask for water, ask for chips and salsa. Order was wrong. Waiter never returned to check on us. We had to request assistance just to pay the bill. Food was decent, but with the incompetent service it was not worth the moderately expensive prices.
Margarita was decent. Salsas watered down. Tortilla soup marginal, queso plain Velveeta melted , nachos was watered down queso slap of sour cream chicken appeared to be from frozen patty. Tasted very poor. Asked for corn tortillas with butter. Got four tortillas from a package and no butter. Charged for it. Oh yes. $51 later gli ng to eat elsewhere.
Just stopped for chips & queso and a margarita. Queso was above average, chips were fried in house (the oil was a lil burned which have a burned flavor to the chips) and the margarita was a lil twangy but had a good bit of tequila. Looking forward to stopping for food sometime soon!
I didnt want to use the restroom it was so disgusting. Duct taped chairs, mosquito hawks flying around, server eating her meal and sucking her fingers in between tables, half broken lights. Tacos were ok but beans tasted like a week old with an after taste of soap. Water tasted like metal... The sad part is that I am from Guatemala, a Latin country and this place makes any Spanish food, culture and tradition a joke. Go somewhere else instead.
If you are searching for an orgasmic food experience that will litteraly make you want to mary whoever this Manuel person is, then look no further. AUTHENTIC. QUALITY. OUTSTANDING. This place place is the best Mexican restaurant I have EVER been to. Get the lingua canasta tacos. Youall thank me later.

2022-06-17I was passing through the town and just happened to drive by this establishment. I noticed the parking lot was full. As if that wasnt a good indicator, there were cars parking along the side of the parallel road to come eat here. Which to me meant the food must be great. My intuition was correct! Despite a very busy lunch hour, I got seated right away, drink and tostadas came out quickly. The aromas from the kitchen flowed the air making everything look good on the menu. I chose the carnitas plate and it arrived quicker than I anticipated which was good because I had already eaten half of the chip basket 😬 Now, Im from South Texas, meaning Im very spoiled when it comes to great Mexican food. The carnitas were the best Ive ever had. Great flavor, super tender, and a chingon sized serving. The restaurant is tucked in the city but quite the gem! Very lucky locals!!

2021-04-17Absolutely fantabulous!!! We went based on a friends dad whos a local and we were not discussing. The Cowboy Enchilada platter & Spinach Enchiladas were wonderful. Definitely got good leftovers because they give a lot for a little price. Well worth it & we will be back.

2022-01-15I live in Brenham and this is the only real Mexican restaurant in town. Best margaritas and tacos and fajitas in the birthplace of Texas.(order a top shelf)
