Mickeys Bar and Grill in other cities:
Friendly, and efficient staff. Delicious, clam chowder, huge fresh clams. The Gumbo has to be made by a cajun, it is delectible. The seared ahi tuna, appetizer is worth $20, in town, shhhhhh dont tell anybody, this is the kinda place ya dont want anyone else to know about. Oh yeah the bloody Mary is the perfect compliment to the fresh seafood.
Went to Mickeys today with my boyfriend and his father who is handicapped. He can walk with a walker only. I had to find him a place down stairs because there is no access to upstairs for the handicapped. Once we sat down at table I then went upstairs to the bar to let them know we were there. They sent a waitress named Tori down to wait on us. She was super friendly and very attentive. We ate our meal and proceeded to pay the check. When I did I left a nice tip I thought but I guess it wasn’t good enough for Tori. Because she began to clear our table and said we don’t serve people down here. I said well how do you serve the handicapped then? She completely ignored me and we never saw her again. Also if you go there make sure you can climb at least 4 stairs because that’s where the restroom room is! I can completely see why people with handicaps are treated I fairly in some places. Food was ok but little pricey so it’s hard to leave a large tip if you already spent that money on food.
Mickey’s was a great impromptu outing with the family and I on a lazy Sunday! Their famous burger was as advertised and huge, the wife and I had to split one. There was a great view of the marina and the wait staff was extremely attentive and accommodating for some extra needs. We will definitely be visiting again.
The food was TERRIBLE! I had the pecan crusted flounder and couldnt even taste anything except pecans. Fish was mushy, and the cilantro sauce had not taste. No flavor..very bland. We had loaded fries for an app...it was cold, fries tasted old and the cheese was not even melted. My BF had the chicken fried chicken and the breading on it was horrible. All in all a terrible meal and experience. We wont be returning. This was our second shot at this place and it still failed miserably.
The food was good. The wait was about 45 mins for a 6 person table. Waitress was a bit lacking, she was sarcastic and smart@$$. Nevertheless we hit a 250 bill. We ordered mixed drinks, apps, dinner. Got refills once at the end when we finished eating after we were done. By then we didnt need it. Kinda wish the service was better for the whole experience. I posted the cheese fries and crabcake and gumbo cup we got. The food was delicious. Just the service sucked.
1 hour and 15 minutes no food, other diners that came in after us were served and finished their meals and we never got ours. No good explanation other than kitchen is short-staffed, well what about the other plates coming out? Looks like there was no manager on-duty either just clueless kids. Used to be our favorite place, not what it once was, will not return!
Our first visit last week was a great experience. Good service, good food, good atmosphereOur 2nd visit this week, the service was fair at best, the food looked sloppy and mostly had no flavor. We also asked to buy t-shirts- they are out for 8 weeks 😖 During tourist season?!?Jiminy ChristmasSo - 3 stars.
We were visiting and went to watch the Superbowl. I guess people didnt care too much because the volume was off, they finally turned it up a little. I didnt care much about the teams but like to watch and the commercials are usually funny if you can hear them. Its ok, its not a sports bar.We sat at the bar, I got two 1/2 priced apps (superbowl special) they were very good. The menu looked yummy but prices were 😳 we left after the appetizers because of the high drink prices, I dont remember how much mine was but think it was $5 for a bud light, you can get one for $3 just about anywhere in the country! My husband lets me know if its high by inconspicuous fanning out the change from a $20 after buying a round that is crazy....😄The bartender was a sweetheart though. I always try to take into consideration the prices when Im in a tourist area. Its a shame it works that way. When you find the local hangout places, thats where the prices arent gouged. I did stop for some fresh caught seafood for a lovely homemade feast. There are also places in Port A and Rockton that had great food and great prices!4 stars for friendly bartender and good food. I would have stayed longer and returned the rest of the week if it werent for the pricing.
The actual restaurant, and food is very nice. I suggest going somewhere else though if you are in a rush. This isnt a complaint about the restaurant, but for the ferry, to get the the Island, where the restaurant is. It can take around 30 minutes, but you can always go around though too. The food is definitely worth the wait, to get to the island though. One last thing you can bring your dog, but you usually have to wait longer for a table unless the dog is a service dog. I always like coming here for a nice experience.
Last time: Great food and atmosphere. The fried flounder was phenomenal! Very chunky and the coating was unimaginably thin! Oysters werent available yet (October) - they said not til Nov 1.This time: 25 minute wait, ordered my son a cheeseburger before placing order for my wife and I but ours came first. Had to remind twice about burger and wait was still quite a while. They did comp burger though. Coating on flounder didnt seem as thin as last time but fish was still chunky. Oysters not available again - too small they said, though I can get Gulf oysters in San Antonio that seem plenty big. Key lime pie seemed pre made (little circle) - thick crust, not much filling, and something off on taste.
They had amazing food and good service. Open air seating when we went. They have doors to close the upstairs and a bar downstairs as well. Pictured is the Mahi Mahi plate, onion strings, fish basket and jalapeño cream corn. Also had seaweed salad and sushi style red fish. Again amazing food.
Very good fresh fish! All members of our party (of 14) really liked their food, and we tried just about everything on the menu, from fish and shrimp, fish tacos, prime rib sandwiches, to burgers. All great, as were the onion rings! Service was equally outstanding too! Think I just found my new favorite Seafood Restaurant in the Coastal Bend.
A very chilled & relaxing spot next to the water. It feels like being in your back yard. I recommend getting a table on the second floor deck near the edge. The food was very decent, the portions were generous, and the breeze was nice. Would definitely come back here again.
Awesome! We have eaten a good variety of items from the menu and have loved each and every thing. Bring a sweater or light jacket with you during the fall/ winter. The restaurant is located on the water and is indoor but open air so it can be a little cool for some people.
Phone skills terrible...not at all pleasant or accommodating for party of four with two wheelchairs...asked if she was gonna make two eighty year old seniors wait in the parking lot till a table was available downstairs...responce was we will take your name down...that shift leader needs another profession and a lesson in phone etiquette.

2022-01-24Great staff, great food. Today I had the oysters. They were sweet and had a perfect texture. I was looking for some redfish because you would think that sense Mickey’s is situated on Redfish Bay that they would serve it. Next time I was told to try their flounder sandwich by a local. I’ll take him up on that when I return.

2021-12-16So today was my first time eating here. I like to start by saying the high points of this place. The establishment was probably one of the neatest that I have been to in a while I love the fact that it sits over the water high up with lots of open seating with a nice breeze coming right through thats easily to control by simply opening and closing garage door windows. The staff here were super friendly and I thought it was interesting that on their menu they had a you catch it we cook it unfortunately this option is not available at the current time due to covid. The major downfall that I saw with this establishment was the prices if youre not worried about the price then you will probably enjoy this restaurant but if youre like me and you like being thrifty with your money then you will probably find this establishment to be overpriced. I want to be fair but I also want to point out the obvious. A simple fish basket of fried fish and french fries at $20 is more than 25% over your average restaurant. It was not just the fish basket. As I look down the menu I felt the majority of the menu was overpriced, but I will say the food was good it was well prepared it was plated in a professional manner that I would expect at a quality restaurant. Like I said the environment was awesome. With everything being taken into account Ive decided to give this establishment a 4 stars.

2022-01-04I ordered the blackened fish sandwhich which came with a toasted bun, fresh fries and a generous serving of fish (that I wasnt expecting). The fish wasnt zesty enough for me until I put some ranch on it. Wife ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer with a loaded baked potato. Its hard to mess up anything with bacon, so it was obviously popping with flavor. The potato was a tad dry but supplied with a remedy of sour cream, whipped butter and homemade ranch👍 will be returningJan 4 2022 Update: We have returned. Got blackened fish with rice and sautéed green beans, bacon wrapped shrimp, a cheeseburger, chicken strips, and a shrimp/fish/oyster basket. All of the food was incredible and everyone was very pleased👍

2022-03-23Very overpriced for small plates and subpar food. My dish was the gumbo, it was $15 for a small bowl that had a single tiny shrimp in it. My friends both had plates similarly priced, and were left with forgotten sides and burnt fries. The waitress took forevor to check on us, and the service was slow in general despite the small number of people.

2021-07-29Unbelievable dinner....you wont walk away hungry! The food was delicious and our server was super nice, friendly and efficient. This is a great place to bring family and friends, great ambiance and very relaxing. My sister and I stopped after a long day at the beach and got prompt service. I had the shrimp basket, my sister had the fish and shrimp basket, it comes with several sides. They dont skimp on how many pieces of fish you get! They were lightly breaded and so tasty.....no digging through the breading looking for the fish here. Everything is home made including the cocktail sauce. Their cole slaw is one of the best I have ever had. We got a crabcake as an appetizer....big enough for 2 people to share....highly highly recommend. The sauce that comes with it is spicy and gives it a kick. If you dont like spicy the crabcake by itself is tender, lots of meat, and seasoned to perfection. Can you tell we loved this place? Great job guys, we will definitely be back!!
