Decided to give this place a shot mid week as anytime on the weekend the line is relatively long. The decor inside will remind you of a classic diner from the movies. The staff is attentive and very helpful. The coffee was alright, I’d not mention it being a diner but I saw they sell it by the bag so probably better options out there. The menu has a variety to include a healthy veggie drink. The Migas were decent, and the Eggs Florentine were an average meal, they seemed to be missing something though. Highlight was the blackberry jam though, tasted exactly like homemade
Monument Cafe was Amazing, this is my first time here left the Cafe very satisfied. My server Jenna is amazing very polite and kind would check on you time to time to see if you needed anything or ask if everything is good. I had the Corn Beef Hash very good the flavors was amazing and the Seasonal pumpkin cheesecake was on point. Want to thank Monument Cafe for my experience here will be back one more time before I head on the road home.
Monument cafe was exceptional! There service is spectacular. When Sean (the baby boy) started crying our waitress asked if we would like a biscuit to help calm him down and brought one out at no charge!! They also presented us with free pie on our birthdays! Great vibe, great service, great food!!!
Today is the first time my wife and I have eaten here and we must say that this is a fantastic place to eat. Our waitress Tali F. was attentive, courteous, and considerate. She was constantly at the top of her game. The food was served quickly and with a smile. The Cafe (diner appeal) has a wonderful atmosphere with music that reminds you of an old school diner. The atmosphere, the service, mixed with some of the best food I have tasted since living in Austin has made the top of my list of places to eat.I will come to this fine establishment for as long as live in the area and we will always ask for Tali F.DO NOT HESITATE to go here. You will not be disappointed.
Quick and friendly service. Good comfort food made from scratch. When we arrived, there was a line of groups waiting for tables, so we were pleasantly surprised when we were told the wait was 10-15 minutes. When we got a table in less than 10 minutes, we were even happier.Once our order was taken, there was a wait for the food, but thats completely reasonable for scratch made food. The biscuits were big and fluffy and even better with butter and sausage gravy. The eggs Benedict had a delicious Hollandaise sauce. And the grits were coarse ground and very good. The only thing that I didnt love was the chicken fried steak which was a little overly salted. But it tasted OK, and wasnt so bad with a lot of gravy, and I love a good gravy.Ive been here several times, and this was the first time with the family. In fact, looking around the restaurant on a Saturday morning, it seems to be a popular place for families with kids. Everyone else loved their food, and they would like to come back. I would be happy eating here again as well, but maybe just not the chicken fried steak.
Stopped here for a late breakfast, expecting it would be slow, but there was a 15m-20m wait (but a good sign, not a problem). It was chilly outside, but they send a text message to tell you when you are ready to be seated, so we were able to wait in the car - nice. There were a lot of older people in attendance, perhaps eating a little late is normal for them. The staff was friendly and the food was good. I had biscuits with sausage gravy and it was delicious. The place is clean and the environment pleasant, definitely better than IHOP and Dennys. Myu only complaint is the coffee cups are too small (6 oz?) - which left me waiting for refills.06/01/22 Omellette was very good, loaded with ham, bacon and cheese, home fries were good and peach Jelly was delicious (photo added).
Excellent breakfast and lunch place. Gluten free options were plentiful. The buckwheat pancakes were very good. Warning serving size is large.Lemonade was one of the best I have ever had and it was served tableside (choice of lemonade and strawberry lemonade). You cannot go wrong choosing to eat here, menu has something for everyone and the desserts looked (and smelled) wonderful.
We really enjoyed our meal here! We went on a Sunday morning close to noon, and though it was packed we were very impressed with how quickly we were seated (within 20 minutes) and how quickly our food came out. Our server was so sweet and the food was amazing. The pearl sugar waffles are a must try if you have a sweet tooth :)
Hostess was not friendly and the wait is always long on the weekend. The food was pretty good but if I’m honest, the 4 stars is due to the fresh squeezed orange juice. It’s worth the trip alone. If the people were just friendlier then I’d think about coming more often.
Monument is a staple in the Georgetown community. Its so good. Such kind staff. Great service. If youre visiting, its a must do while youre in town. The chicken and biscuits are delicious. Their legendary monument chocolate pie is just *chefs kiss*. You cant order a bad meal here. Everything is just that good!
After moving to Georgetown from diner rich lancaster county Pa. I am thankful to have found the Monument cafe. Our recent experience there included a great atmosphere, fantastic food and really awesome customer service! Shout out to our server Blake who took really good care of our large group. This will be our go to diner now for sure. I highly recommend you check it out!! Thanks Monument Cafe!!
Totally forgot to take pics of my food - so sorry! First time visitor, thought it was a very good dining experience. Huge variety on the menu, I went with more of the breakfast foods and was impressed with the taste and quality - biscuits were amazing. I thought the food was a little over-priced, but quality and taste were the norm for everyone in our group. I would definitely go back - so many great looking dishes and the service was good.
After going to many diners all across America there is something about Monument Cafe that is extra special. This place always is clean, the servers take pride in their jobs! This place should be an example of how every cafe should be ran a kept. Simply exceptional, absolutely delicious, thank you Andrew for being the best server I’ve ever had! Amazing job. I cannot say enough how exquisite this cafe is. Y’all deserve awards.
I visited this place with my parents for Lunch. They serve breakfast all day so they ordered breakfast and I got the club sandwich and mac and cheese. My food was excellent. The bread and ingredients were top notch. My parents live locally and said it was their best trip their yet. We will come back next time we are in town.
Definitely worth the wait. We have noticed the change in customer service due to staff shortages at other places, Not here Jenna R was absolutely amazing. Great service with a smile even though she had a big section. Food was excellent, will definitely be back even if the wait is long.
I ordered the eggs Florentine with home fries. Everything was blander than Id hoped and the home fries not crispy at all. I suppose thats partly on me for not asking for them crispy. Still, if the Monument has transitioned to a brunch destination, Id expect a higher level of quality in their smaller menu. I have fond memories of this restaurant from ages past, but visits in recent years have left me slightly disappointed.
The place is nice. The people are a little bit too serious for my taste (the majority are young people) are they too busy to smile? 😁My plate was ok but not fantastic. Anyway I was hungry. 😋 The eggs were too hard for a florentine eggs and the plates need to be more clean, less greasy. Maybe too much use?The 🚻 restrooms are individual very clean and nice.
Food quality and quantity has slipped. We were there for breakfast around 10:00. My wife ordered chicken and grits only to be told they were out of chicken. She changed to the migas plate with sausage only to be told they were out of sausage. I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy with bacon. The sausage gravy was very salty. Service was ok to start but we had a bit of a wait to get the check. Dont think we will be going back.
The photos don’t do the flavors justice. Wow, what a great breakfast. I went very simple with the three egg breakfast. Everything was delicious. The eggs were seasoned well, the biscuits were hot and fresh with the best strawberry jam you’ll ever have. The grits!! Usually I expect to add salt and butter but no, they were cooked to perfection! The sausage patties were so fresh and hand-patted together (I don’t know how to describe it plz see picture). My only complaint is the coffee mug was so small my poor waitress (shoutout to Priscilla, what a star) had to refill it every time she checked in with us. My husband got the chicken fried steak with sausage gravy—also delicious. He said it was a bit salty, but I thought it was just well-seasoned. Hoping to come back again before we head back to Dallas!
A real diner, yay! We had biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and grits and coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Everything was so good! We even had homemade blackberry and peach jams. Of course we couldnt finish it all so took it home. After seeing some desserts go by, we also had to order some pie to take home...luscious coconut cream and buttermilk pie and todays special, fried peach pie. We really enjoyed eating here and the surrounding downtown area is so enjoyable to walk around in afterwards.
It was Mothers Day so it was busy , took an hour almost to be seated . Out of Cinnamon Rolls ( which Always seems to be the case ) I had avocado toast, it was okay . My DIlL had eggs Benedict ( wished you had salmon options+ her eggs were Over cooked , like hard boil instead of poached so she was disappointed. Guys ate their meals 🙃. Pancake+ Biscuits were good.
This is our go to spot in Georgetown. All of the servers are great but Angie and Benjamin have customer service skills that are off the chatty! Food is delicious! It’s usually busy but Holidays are exceptionally busy! The Manager makes everything work smoothly and everyone works as a team!
That’s only a half portion of the Chicken Fried Steak, folks!! Can tell this is a scratch kitchen by flavor and freshness. Surprised the biscuits didn’t float off the plate they are so fluffy! Get them with the peach jelly, just like dessert. The pie tho - my husband says he will daydream about it, possibly even night dreams 😋
What a great place! Definitely worth going to. The pancakes are definitely the best Ive ever had, no joke. Perfectly crisp on the outside with a soft interior and buttery flavor. The syrup is served in little miniature pitchers and is hot and delicious. The fruit is fresh, eggs cooked perfectly, I mean, its all good! Wait time isnt too bad at all (15 minutes), the parking lot is huge, and the interior is a mix of nostalgic and modern. You really do need to stop here for a meal!
You gotta try these cinnamon rolls... They were delicious.I got there at 9am and there were only 13 remaining and I bought 2. So they would definitely sell out by 10am. Might as well get breakfast while I was there too. I would have liked to have non-pork meat option like turkey bacon or turkey sausage but they didnt have it. But they reduced the price by the price of meat. Great service and great food...
Really loved the food. Theres a good variety to choose from. Came here for breakfast. Except for creamer being given in small cups everything else was great. Service and staff were very pleasing and helpful. Use of technology helps ease and minimise contact. From menu to leaving a tip can be done through your phone. Which is great for current situation. Food came in quick and was at expected. Flavorful.. Would love to try more of em to give a better review.Update*Went there again and tried their Corn Beef Hash. Love the sweet potato fries in the middle of it. Ask for Cholula and Pepper. Its awesome.
The menu has become boring, nothing special to really look forward to anymore. Monument Cafe is a solid diner where youll always find it busy during peak times, especially if youre over 65. That said, the requests Ive heard countless people ask for are: 1) Every diner worth its salt should offer a daily full-on traditional Club Sandwich (ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese and 3 slices of bread) served with french fries as an option (not just home fries); and 2) Every Diners, Drive-Inns and Dives fan knows every diner needs either a Signature Dish (they formerly offered the King Ranch Casserole) or something BIG/ Unique (like a monster sandwich or plate). Monument presently offers neither daily.Monument offers good food, its just the SAME food as any other plain Jane breakfast places. Monument Cafe isnt bad food, theres just nothing SPECIAL anymore about the menu. Please bring back something signature like the King Ranch used to be, or bring something new thats BIG or unique and not to be found anywhere else.A new restaurant just opened on the town square and the main reason people say they are switching over is Monument doesnt even offer something as common as Chicken and Waffles.
Great food great atmosphere. Had the chicken and biscuits breakfast and cinnamon rolls they were both great! Food is locally purchased and everything is made in the kitchen that day! Kat was an awesome server was always on point. Its also great to see an entire staff work together as a team making sure all customers are taken care of! Would frequent this place if wasnt for just being here for work for a short time.
Tried the Monument Cafe for the first time after hearing about it and how good it was from many people, and they were on point. Had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast and was pleasantly surprised to see this was cooked the way it should be on the flat top, old school. Really nice old dinner ambience to it. Well worth a visit if youve not been yet. Well be back to try the Fried Broccoli.
27 May 2021 - three year updateFood still excellent. Staff still great. For example, just LOOK at the BLT. It’s clear why the sandwich name starts with “B” here.Original review— The food is carefully prepared (vegetables tender, but with bite, fried foods crisp but not greasy, etc), the wait staff is friendly and efficient. And the menu is full of all natural and organic and everything from salad dressings to deserts are made in house.
We stopped in for lunch during a road trip and were pleasantly surprised by this old school diner . The place was busy which was a good indication to me that the food was going to be good. They do serve breakfast all day so my daughter and I had breakfast ( she had a pancake and biscuits and gravy, the biscuits and gravy came in a large bowl ), my son had the monument cafe burger ( which was a large hamburger ) and chocolate malt .my wife had the grilled cheese sandwich and soup . I had the eggs Benedict which were very tasty . We all enjoyed the food and if we are in town again we will defiantly stop in for breakfast/ lunch ( they close at 3 pm )
Traveling back home after attending a Conference in Austin, Texas, I met up with a good friend who resides in Georgetown, Texas. My friend suggested we have breakfast at The Monument Cafe. I had heard of the restaurant but never had a chance to eat there until now. First of all, GOOD service. The college student who waited on us was friendly and engaging. Breakfast was DELICIOUS and right on time. I ordered two eggs, over medium, with bacon, cheesy grits and (1) huge multigrain pancake. I was told that The Monument Cafe has been featured on The Food Network and I can see why. DELICIOUS food, Good Service and a Great place to meet up with old friends and family. Its a winner in my book.
I like the old-fashioned Diner feel. You can just walk in and sit up at the breakfast bar and have coffee and conversation with the locals. And it is literally the best coffee in Georgetown! I always get the eggs Benedict and have never been disappointed! However I wasnt really impressed with the cinnamon rolls though.
My friend and I took a day trip to Georgetown specifically to try this place, because we are visiting the restaurants on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives in Texas that are within driving distance for each of us (she lives in North Central Texas and Im in Southeast Texas). We went for lunch at around 12:30 on a Saturday. It was busy and we were told it could be a 35 minute wait, but it was only 10-15. You are given a link to a website that tells you when your table is ready, so you could wait outside without missing your turn. We used our wait time to look at the menu and all of the specials for the day. There were people still eating breakfast and it looked delicious! The recommendation on D,D,&D was the King Ranch Chicken, which is not offered on the menu any longer. I was disappointed, but they had plenty of other great options to choose from. The food here is farm to table, sourced from local farmers and even their own local garden. And everything served here is made here - the salad dressings, jams, gravy, everything, and the fried foods are hand breaded. Because the food is farm to table, you can expect some things that are normally on the menu to be unavailable because theyre out of season. We couldnt decide what to try, so we ordered two different meals with different sides so we could share, and asked the waitress if they could put the entrees on plates separate from the sides. She was so sweet, and had the kitchen split everything that we ordered in half! (I know the kitchen hates doing that). While you wait for your meal to arrive, the restaurant serves you a biscuit with jam as an appetizer. We were served blackberry, peach, and strawberry jams (made at the restaurant) with our fresh baked, made at the restaurant biscuit. We had to try the chicken fried steak since it was the first thing we smelled when we walked in, and the chicken and dumplings which was one of the daily specials, with cabbage, sautéed spinach, onion rings, and mashed potatoes. Everything was absolutely fantastic! They serve fresh, hand squeezed lemonade and orange juice. We had lemonade and the one order was enough to fill 3 glasses. The prices are reasonable, about what you would expect anywhere else for the same type of food. The service is excellent! There is a parking lot beside the restaurant but if you are parked near the square, the cafe is within walking distance. We will definitely be back.
Monument Cafe is home to my absolutely favorite waffle in Texas. They make a thin waffle closer to actual Belgian creations, and their other breakfast foods are just as good. Its a little pricier than a mom and pop diner, but in exchange you get your favorite breakfast foods sans grease. Its a great way to start your day in Georgetown!
I will start off by saying, their managers need to do a slight better job at ordering food. You should not have been out of so many things on a Sunday afternoon. However : the atmosphere here was really great. Our waitress was attentive despite our large table. Everyone was friendly. The food was cooked well, and tasted great. Most importantly... While going to the restroom you can see their kitchen is super clean, their staff is organized, and I felt like this was probably the cleanest kitchen I had ever seen for a busy place halfway through their work hours.
A cozy and homely diner with a plethora of things to choose from. I tried the waffle when I was here, and the enjoyed it. Interesting how it was served as one giant waffle as opposed to a stack of them. Was super busy on a Friday late-morning, coming earlier before 11 might be a good idea.My only complaint is that my teacup had lipstick residue on it when it was served to me.
There seriously arent enough words to describe how amazing this experience was. First, the entire restaurant is extremely clean and neat. Our server was very knowledgable in explaining the offers and recommendations. Our food was out quickly and was all accurate and tasted amazing!!
2007-2019 Great local place for basic good meal. We enjoy the three salad sampler for lunch sometimes. Other times we get the veggie plate along with a fried chicken sandwich - yum. The eggs over medium with the yokes broke with avocado on sour dough toast, with fresh squeezed OJ.Dec 2020 Well we have been going to Monument Cafe for 13 years+. The nice home town restaurant used to be know for giant biscuits, locally sourced food, healthy organic food when available, great iced tea, broad menu with great recipes and good service. It seems the good service is still there, but the restaurant is suffering. I know they prioritized El Monumento when it opened, moving Monument Cafe to a breakfast lunch restaurant. And I know covid has messed everything up. But this weeks visit was really bad. The seating was good and there are plexiglass partitions between the booths now. The server was good. I could not tell if the regular chef / cooks were online as there were pie boxes on the bar blocking the view into the kitchen. BTW, the bar seating is closed. I took my 10th grade son for a lunch. Our father / son lunches have been happening since he was two. We usually sit at the bar. The iced tea - brown and watery. There was a faint taste of tea. The server kept me filled as I was thirsty. No biscuits. We went to order the three salad sampler but that is off the menu now. I didnt realized that I was supposed to scan the QR code to see the menu. I scanned and it didnt display very well on Samsung S7 android device. Since salads were gone, we decided to order the best chicken sandwich in Texas. I learned as a loyal customer that I could ask for the grilled chicken sandwich but have it fried instead. Well that is gone. We could only get chicken friend chicken - not the same. The bun was stale and loaded with sesame seeds. This is a new bread. The chicken was greasy and flat. It used to be crispy fried, thick and very juicy. The lettuce was wilted. The tomatoes were whiteish inside indicating and unripe tomato. The fries were good, but mostly refried brown bits. Overall, a big disappointment. I know things are rough, but if you are going to stay in busy, get your quality back. If you like dennys or ihop, this is your place as the remaining menu doesnt resemble a good hole in the wall with healthy food, but a place to fill your gut with regular food. The checkerboard plate liners topped it off. No plans to return soon. Oh, by hungry high school boy, ate half the sandwich, put a napkin on the top and pushed it away. This never happens.
If youre in Georgetown or travelling nearby you should stop at this diner. The menu says it was established in 1995, but appears to be in a large older building. Theres lots of tables, booths and counter seats, and its very clean and well maintained. The service is quick and friendly and the menu is full of diner staples and house favorites. I had the daily special, Banana Bread French toast, and it was great!
We are visiting from Ohio and love this Café! As soon as you walk in you are immersed in a comfortable and friendly environment. Even though the parking lot was packed we were greeted immediately and seated within 5 minutes. Our server, Latricia, was incredible! She took our order with confidence and had amazing knowledge of the menu. Refills came quickly and the food was delicious. I love that you can pay right there at the table. That saved us so much time. Thank you so much for the great dining experience! We will be back.
Tried monument cafe based on a recommendation. Table was dirty. Sticky with someone else’s jam. Ordered a migas taco. I’m not sure what this mess is — runny eggs doused in chili powder? $6.00 for one tiny nightmare of a pretend migas taco 🤯🤯🤯 Will continue on my search for a good breakfast joint. This ain’t it.
Loved my breakfast! Exceptional service! Linda was knowledgeable and very quick. Monument Cafe is arguably the best breakfast in town. The lemon curd blueberry pancakes are amazing and quickly eaten which is why I took photos eggs benedict with amazing grits. A good tip is to sit at the bar where they serve you quickly and efficiently without the wait. Whatever you do dont scan plug dessert they serve Amys Ice Cream with the best fried pie youve ever tasted. Dont forget the milk shakes either which are to die for.
Theres pretty much always a wait on Sundays, so do be cognizant of that. However, absolutely no wait at a late lunch today. Thoroughly enjoyed the waffle, bacon, and fruit I had as a belated brunch. Only issue was that our server was a little bit dingy and forgot a couple of small things that we requested; additionally, dessert was an afterthought for him. Which was a pity - the chocolate buttercream cake looked like it was amazing.Plus, the old decor is always a treat! Ducked into the Market to see what they had, and that was also lovely - albeit pricey.
I had their pancake with blueberries and it was huge.... The size of the plate. And it was very good. My coffee was great and the staff were friendly and on it with making sure our drinks were filled and needs met. We got there around 8am on a Saturday and were seated right away but soon after a lot more people stated to trickle in. Upon leaving there were some people waiting. I feel it does Georgetown proud with excellent service and food.
We had the best home cooked food here today! Corn chowder and a fresh biscuit, then chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak. Our sides of mashed and mac&cheese were also delicious. This place was extremely busy yet our waitress Jill was still attentive and smiling. Truely a great experience! Oh and coconut cream pie to go 😁
This local spot was busy but organized. I sat at the bar and had a direct view to all of the service action. The menu has a lot to offer from breakfast to dinner and dessert. I had breakfast. My selection was simple: eggs, grits, bacon, and biscuits. I was in a southern breakfast mood. It was good. The biscuits and jam were on point. Reminded me on Moms house. Ill choose pancakes on my next visit. It was exciting to see them process the orders with great customer service. For good home style cooking visit Monument Cafe. Get there early or be prepared to wait. The wait is worth it.
So it is hit and miss with this place but we always come back because when they are on, it is wonderful!!We enjoyed some delicious chicken gumbo soup and quiche of the day. My husband are the gluten free buckwheat pancake and enjoyed it so much hes singing a little tune!Noah was the perfect waiter, attentive and informative and very pleasant. We will be back!
Well I cant review the lunch selections here at the Monument cafe in Georgetown Texas, because no matter what time I come I get the breakfast! The food and service are always great and its somewhat of an institution here in Georgetown. If youre a local looking for a good meal you cant go wrong and if youre visiting Georgetown I highly recommend that you have at least one meal during your visit at the Monument Cafe.
We eat here maybe 6 times a month and just really like it except for the wait at times which could be reduced with call ahead like many places offer now.Tried many things on menu and like it all!Recently the wait is longer because they cant get help to show up or get to work! Hopefully this will pass!
Much bigger inside than it looks. But dont let that fool you. This place is PACKED all the time when they are open. I would suggest you go early and get the cinnamon rolls. They only make so many and they are to die for. Food was great, service was excellent. Couldnt have asked for a better place to get breakfast.
Its okay. Service is very poor. As for the food, everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Thank you kitchen staff. They need to work on the crust on the chocolate pie though. Ratios are off. PLEASE make the pie the way you used to!! It was good enough to make Georgetown a destination just for the chocolate pie!
The food was flavorful and they brought it out quickly, the coffee cups are baby size but it is unlimited refills so it makes no difference unless it bothers you to try and balance the cream, sugar levels every three sips, 😂 I feel portions are small for the price but the price apparently is also affected due to everything being locally farmed and organic preservative free... I had (2) scrambled eggs with biscuits and fried chicken it came with plenty of traditional white gravy, and I requested a side order of pancakes, each pancake has an individual price tag, my wife had the Benedict, and my youngest son came along and had the chicken strips with Mac and cheese, the place hosts a large amount of people, so a 45min wait may sound insane but it goes fairly quickly plus you can monitor your placement on a link they text you, overall great experience my waitress was on top of everything, unfortunately for me is a bit pricey so I wont be returning any time soon.
Breakfast is good, but portion sizes are on the small side for the price. Except for the pancakes, those are huge. When I drink the coffee, the cups are so small, it seems like I am always asking for a refill. Good place for a sit down meal to visit with friends and family. Service isnt fast, but thats not why you come here.
Always good food. Always crowded. Great service too.You can sit at the counter with no wait.Loads of free parking. Its only about a hundred yards from downtown Georgetown.Georgetown Blue Hole is right down the road also.In the same area is a nice book store and a wine shop.Go early eat a ton of good food and then go for a stroll. Its worth it! whats stopping you‽ go!
Another great meal at Monument Cafe! Relatives from FL visiting and their two little girls wanted pancakes and my wife immediately said Monument Cafe. So the 7 of us arrived and had a short wait for a large table. Once seated the service was excellent as always and we ordered food and beverages. Our server came by about 5 minutes later with fresh from the oven biscuits and before you could say biscuits all but 3 were gone. Soon after the meals arrived. The burgers were great and hot off the grill. Fries and onion rings hot too and very tasty. Pancakes with chocolate chips and blueberries were wonderful as was the chicken and grits and pearl waffle. They loved it and the 3 remaining biscuit were gone not long after we got home.
Went in for a Sunday brunch. Although they were busy, they moved customers his customers threw very efficiently without feeling rushed. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious and delicious! We even had an option to pay at the table in a contactless way. Highly recommend - - do plan for a weight depending on the time of day :)
This place was AMAZING!!!! There are so many options, and theres definitely something for everyone. I actually got the Eggs Florentine which were very very good, and I definitely recommend. If you go save room for dessert though because they have the best desserts in Georgetown 100%. We also had amazing service, 10/10 recommend.
Ive eaten at this restaurant for about 20 years. It has gone through some great times, some no so good times and it has finally hit a level plateau. The service is usually very excellent. The food is always good to better. (They even offer some green veggie options for breakfast now ON the menu!!!). Today I had breakfast for lunch : chicken and grits. It was spot on perfect..not too salty...not to bland..just as yummy as if I had made it at home. Kudos to Old Monument! If you are ever in town, this is a place to try for sure- and be sure to ask them for a plate of biscuits!!!
It had been a while since we came back to this place. I thought I could count on another good experience but I was sadly mistaken. When we were seated we waited a while for the server to show up. When she showed up she asked us what drinks we wanted and when she brought them to us all of the sodas were watered down and missing flavor. They had no gas at all. She neglected to offer us straws we had to ask for those. The glasses that they used look very dirty. She asked if we were ready to order but never offered us a menu. I asked for a menu and she only brought us back one menu that was very limited. All they had was an assortment of sandwiches burgers and chicken fried steak. Maybe breakfast and dessert are their strengths but lunch was disappointing and very expensive.Burgers were undercooked and one burger was swimming in mayonnaise.Turkey avocado sandwich had what appeared to be very cheap Oscar Meyer style lunch meat. It was gag inducing to say the least. The surroundings looked dirty and unsanitary and none of the employees were wearing a mask. When she brought replacement drinks because of the lack of fizziness they tasted exactly the same. I had requested iced tea to substitute for the sodas and she lied to me and claimed that they did not offer sweet tea. A menu check after we left on their website proved that she had misinformed us. I cant stress enough how dirty the place was and our glasses looked like the same kind of grime you see on a dirty aquarium. The waitress was not energized at all and was minimally polite and very transactional. A few times when I was asking her something or my wife asked her something she simply walked away and ignore us. She was not very mindful or attentive and took forever to come back to the table on the few trips that she made.We have to give credit where credit is due the french fries were great and tasted fresh. But I could have got the same result from a fast food restaurant and way cheaper.Definitely not coming back and sadly we wasted time gas and money going out of our way to come here from out of town.
Simple, hearty, authentic American cafe diner. Really interesting experience to sit at the bar area and watch the GM/Chef at the hot plate running the back & front brigade(you can tell it’s not JUST a cafe, they run it like a fine dining but still manage to keep that relax & casual feeling)
First time there. There was a 20 minute wait but there was seating available. I think it didnt take that long. Our server was very nice, helpful with answers and suggestions, and made us feel welcomed. Food was delicious!! We had biscuits amd gravy with chicken, a pancake and the two eggs and bacon plate. It was all delicious we all enjoyed every bite. Definitely going back! Cant wait to try other dishes!
Update: 4-2022 It is consistently mediocre over the last 6 years that Ive given this iconic restaurant in Georgetown a try. The service is marginal. The food is marginal. The wait is atrocious and is frankly astonishing as there is literally nothing worth waiting for at this restaurant.Original review: Diner style restaurant with LOTS of lines and waits--the food has been okay but nothing to wait in line for. Been there 4 times and came out underwhelmed. Its a tourist hot spot, to be sure, and the after-church crowd on Sundays assures youll wait a long time for being seated for lunch. My favorite food offered here is breakfast; the Migas is pretty good.

2022-07-20Went for the first time on a Saturday…mistake. The place was super packed. However, they text you when your table is available. The Lark and Owl bookstore has a side door that’s connected to the outside sidewalk of the restaurant. This is very convenient as it allows you to stay out the heat and look around the bookstore while you’re waiting. The waitress was quick, attentive and nice. The food was good and plentiful. They offer complimentary biscuits and jelly so don’t order any.

2022-03-13We really enjoyed our visit here. We showed up at probably the busiest time - brunch on a Sunday. We were pretty nervous about the wait time since it looked like a lot of people were waiting. In the end, we waited about 30 minutes for a table for 2. The atmosphere is pretty relaxing for how busy it was.I got the corned beef hash. My husband got the eggs Benedict. They both were really good and we left full and satisfied. They were out of cinnamon rolls, but we got a carrot cake slice to go. It was fresh and moist. The Arnold Palmer was tart, but the mimosa with orange juice was really good. All around a great experience. We definitely will be back to try more lunch type foods. A guy sitting nearby had a burger and onion rings that looked amazing. Have to try it next time. Be aware that it typically closes at 3. They also have a mention on their menu about no substitutions.

2022-04-22What a great experience! Everyone from the point I walked in to the time I left were super friendly. The building is a 1950s Ford dealership still looks like new. Very clean, can see the kitchen, and nice long diner type bar top. Got so excited when the Biscuits & Gravy came out, i forgot to take a picture of it. Everything we ate was delicious. Definitely coming back to try other items.

2022-02-14This popular venue has been a Georgetown favorite for years. We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday and were seated promptly. The restaurant is clean, charming, with a retro vibe. Only breakfast and lunch are served, but a full range of adult beverages are available. We ordered the chicken fried steak, and (one) pancake, and the migas taco. My pancake was good and the migas taco was delicious. My wife, however, was disappointed with her chicken fried steak. The steak was not tender, and it was bland without a good crunchy crust. She sent it back and got a grilled cheese sandwich and fries. Much better. Service was friendly but slow. Prices are reasonable and parking lots are available next door. I wanted to like this venue more, so I may return at an earlier time and get a sticky bun or sugar waffle. They sell out by 11am usually....

2022-01-29Monument has been a favorite for years. But food quality was not their standard last visit. They have always positioned food quality and locally sourced ingredients. Eggs seemed to be standard mass-market and sweet potatoes were not featured in corned beef hash as described by the menu. The staff was struggling to keep up with the patrons. The servers were friendly enough to overlook the challenge. Eggs were over cooked but replaced quickly. While I respect that some of these issues could be related to supply chain and employee shortage, better communication and quality check could have made a better experience. I will return but hoping for positive changes.

2022-07-19Visiting family in the area, this is where we had breakfast most days. From blueberry pancakes (theyre huge, so think twice about ordering 2), to biscuits and gravy, pearl waffles, chocolate croissants, grits, oatmeal or Annas granola, we loved every bite.Add a freshly pressed o.j., a nitro cold brew, or green power juice to round it off. Loved the coffee.Service exceptional even though always busy; wait times on Sunday was 40 minutes. Other days no wait, but we usually waited a few minutes for a booth.

2021-11-11Come hungry. Monument serves quality and quantity in a facility nostalgic of a 50s diner but cared for well--ckeab and pristine--given its 14 years.Great place for families and travellers alike... Everything we had was delicious... and we ended up leaving with a second cinnamon roll and 3 slices of pie.

2022-01-13I had really high expectations for this place. I added my party to the waitlist and walked around the area for the 45 minute wait. We started to head back when there were 5 minutes left to be seated and when we got back to the restaurant, the waiting time was updated to an additional 25 minutes. The service was friendly, but the food was just okay, nothing impressive. I’ll likely be by again to try the pies.

2022-07-06Since reading all the good reviews I decided to visit this place. The establishment is really cute. The service is good as well. The food on the other hand was lacking. The pancake was the only thing I thought tasted good. 😔
