The theater was clean and the leather recliners were comfy as always but they changed many things on their menu to a more Mexican fare which doesnt leave many choices for someone allergic to peppers. I miss the shaved ribeye sandwich and they also removed the cream gravy for the chicken stripes, in Texas you have to have cream gravy!! Wish they would bring back those two things.
We went last night for the first time since before pandemic. Movie house has really let herself go. It was very dirty. Hot and stuffy. The waiters came at the beginning of flim but never came back. I had the button pressed on all our seats for an hour and couldnt get a single refill. Back to almo drafthouse we go
Service is terrible. Food takes forever to arrive and the waiters are clearly spread too thin. There is no way to signal a waiter if you need something. The food itself was decent at best and way overpriced. The screens are big and the chairs are comfy but thats about it. Very unfortunate since the building and the location are great.
I somehow erroneously purchased movie tickets to the Austin NW theater rather than the Austin SW theater. I was not the only group of movie attendees to do so either. Luckily, we made it to the front desk with five minutes to spare to get our orders refunded! Krystal assisted us swiftly and provided us Austin NWs phone number by memory, even instructing us which number to hit to quickly get to a live-person on the phone. This is my favorite movie theater in the area and I value the quality of food, customer service, and cleanliness tremendously. They are experiencing the labor shortage, as most restaurants and businesses in general are at this time. The bar is closed to customers on week days, who normally could walk up and order on their own. Now they have to wait to order via a server in the theater. This is really the only thing Ive noticed being irritating but it isnt that important!
Had an absolutely worst experience ever. I took my teenager children to see Batman. During the movie my children went outside to get something for myself. When they went to reenter an employee refused them to reenter the theater. That is not the worse she stood in the door way pointed and laughed at them. After a few minutes I went to see where they were. I confronted the employee asked for her name she told me it was Vivi (short mousy looking blonde not wearing a uniform or name badge brown sweat shirt with black pants). She proceeded to laugh after I told them that they were my children I simply replied this is not funny and I will be talking to her manager. We were so outraged that we left missing the end of the movie. This is terrible and should not be tolerated. Vivi you should be ashamed you are an ignorant and mean spirited person.
This was the worst movie theatre experience Ive ever had. Starting from the beginning:We arrived 30 minutes before the start of our show (The Northman, awesome movie btw) as is customary so that we could order food in time for the movie to start. We ask the server if we can order a soda and a tea. He lets us know to let him know if wed like to order anything else. A few minutes later we order popcorn. The previews begin and neither drink has arrived. People that got there after us are receiving food and drinks. No big deal. The movie begins and we still havent received our drinks. I press the button and ask the server when he arrives if theres any update on the drinks or the popcorn. At this point he realizes we havent received them, so I think maybe well get them now?At this point were about 30 minutes into the movie itself and the soda arrives. Cool! Maybe the tea is on the way. 15 more minutes go by and I press the button to ask if theres any update on the tea and Im told theyre backed up. No problem, I get it, Ive worked in the service industry. But its two drinks and popcorn. After this server leaves the tea arrives finally. Still no popcorn though. Now were halfway through the movie and finally the popcorn arrives! But its cold. And its not just cold. Its cold AND stale. The movie continues and were nearing the end when I think theyre supposed to bring the checks. The movie ends and the credits begin and only then do they bring the checks. The server drops ours off and lets us know to come find him if anything is wrong with it.And there is. We were double charged for soda and popcorn. We inform the server and he lets us know hell have to get his manager. I wait in the lobby to sign the check. The server brings the check out and I sign it but before I look up the server disappears. Im not going to wait around to track this guy down to hand him his check so I ask the girl at the front if I can leave it at the counter and she says yes to just leave it there.Cold popcorn and drinks that arrive nearly halfway through the movie? This is inexcusable, especially for the prices they charge. You cant charge more than drafthouse and offer poorer service. I see from some other reviews that apparently the place is under new management but maybe this place should be under new-er management.
First time visiting this theater. When we arrived, we approached the front counter to purchase tickets. The counter rep was reading a book, and she asked what we wanted without even looking at us. That was extremely rude. She looked frustrated and had no customer skills. Our server was actually super nice.
Thr hall in front of Movie 6 smelled like a trash dump. Im not sure what is causing this but it detracts from the look of cleanliness. I ordered the beef tacos and the flour tortillas were hard and tasted like they had been microwaved for much too long. The cheese sticks were perfect and we liked the lime slice in the Topo chico.
Jennifer is the worst manager there is to possibly exist. She is extremely rude and belittling. I will add, the rest of the staff is incredibly sweet! My friend and I were enjoying our last glass of wine in the lobby, after an 8:00pm show (while there was an 8:30 Batman movie going on) and Jennifer was threatening us to chug our wine or she was going to call the police. She approached our table and would not leave until we handed over our drinks. Confused, my friend and I left and she mockingly said “drive home safe”. The movie theater is nice but JENNIFER needs to be replaced
Food is NOT good anymore with the new ownership by Cinepolis.Last few times we went, we were disappointed with the food. What used to be great is now not even good. In fact, actually bad. Looks like the new Cinepolis owners ruined what was once great (75% of all food used to be from scratch, now its restaurant supply garbage food). So .. we will go elsewhere for movies.
Man, chairs were so comfortable. The movie was 🔥. The waitstaff were wonderful but the brown sugar cider cocktail tasted like a bath and body works smells. I wondered if I was drinking a Christmas candle by mistake…… will my tastebuds ever recover? Only time will tell.
This place really went downhill after the new ownership. It’s not worth paying a premium for a movie when the food is mediocre and the service is wise. The menu is a joke and less than half than it used to be. I know it’s hard to find people to work nowadays, but when you have to ask a person three times for a refill of popcorn and another two times for a refill of soda, you might as well make stuff self serve. Sorry, local theater to me, but don’t plan on making many more visits in the future.
We wanted to take our granddaughters, ages 7 and 3, to see a movie. We bought the tickets online and went early in order to get them something to eat before the show so they wouldnt fill up on popcorn. We have been to this theater many times and it always used to be one of our favorites. We did not know until we got there that they recently removed their dining tables and closed their bar area. They said nothing about that on their website. The girl selling tickets said they did not serve food anywhere but inside the theater and we could not go into the theater for another 45 minutes. There were only two other groups sitting in the lobby when we got there, including a mother with her young son eating a pizza. I asked if if she minded telling me how she got the pizza and she told me she brought it in from next door. So, we thought, great! My husband got a pizza, brought it back and we had just settled the girls in to eat when the girl working the front, who had sat and watched the other mother and child eat their pizza, came to tell us we couldnt eat it in there because it was outside food. We explained, again, that we had intended to eat their food at what used to be their bar area and had no idea that they had changed the way they did things. We also did not have the option of going into the theater to eat for another 45 minutes, which was too long to keep a 3 and 7 year old occupied. We had our tickets and just wanted to finish eating, just like the other family, and then go see our movie. She called the manager out, at which time we tried to explain the situation to him. He was extremely rude, told me they would give us a refund on our tickets but we needed to pack up our food and get out of his lobby right now! our granddaughters were heartbroken. This entire situation could have been handled so much better from beginning to end, starting with a notice of their changes on their website. Its safe to say I will never set foot in this theater ever again.
Moviehouse is a new 10 cinema theater in the new Lantana Place shopping center at the corner of William Cannon @ Southwest Parkway. Waiter service with a fully stocked bar of many different alcoholic drinks. Food is certainly higher priced but also much higher quality. Burgers, pizzas, salads, tacos, chicken tender baskets, popcorn, candy, and other items. Small lobby with the bar and a few lounge tables. Big huge recliner seats you can sink into which are quite comfortable. Seat comes with an attached tray table. Theater rooms a bit smaller, but that is actually a good thing, because you get a far better view of the screen. Specials during the week: Happy Hour Mon-Wed before 6pm or after 9pm, then Sun after 9pm. Mon half priced wine, Wed $4 beers, Tue/Thu 1/2 price candy/snacks.Two story garage for plenty of parking available. Note: You can enter from SW parkway, or make a left turn on northbound William Cannon just before the SW parkway light. Friendly waiter service you access from a button next to your chair. You chat with them and they take the order on a tablet. Turnaround time after ordering is actually pretty quick. People obviously are going to be comparing this spot to Drafthouse which is all over Austin. This is a good movie theater choice. Its not the exact same as Drafthouse, has its own pros/cons, but overall it certainly is a nice alternative. Some will love it, some will dislike it, but I think this is an excellent theater option for those who live in the nearby area.
I missed the memo about coming early if you want food, and no one explained to me that there was a button on the chair to request service. Once I finally flagged down a waiter, the took forever to bring out our food and then failed to bring out part of our order. We never got it. Big disappointment. I gave it 3 stars because the seats were comfortable. Otherwise, it was a very expensive way to watch a movie. Wouldnt recommend.
Update 2: Food seems to be improving but is not uet what it used to be. Service is still the same.Update 1: In the last 8 months or so, the food quality and service has slowly gone downhill. The seats and theater are still really nice, but the menu, beer selection, and quality of the food have really degraded. The staff used to be really friendly and clearly enjoyed their job, but they now seem despondent. The food here is inexplicably, consistently fantastic! Honestly, Ive been to many restaurants who did a few things well, but always have something mediocre on the menu, but not this place. I can personally recommend the Big Jake and the Bacon Jam burgers, as well as the BBQ chicken pizza and the Cobb Salad, and... you get the picture. And always good beer on tap.The seats are excellent, always clean, and comfortable (yes, they recline), and are laid out well enough that most seats have a great view.Overall, the experience is the best Ive had at a dinner-at-the-movies establishment.
I really enjoyed going to see a movie here. Good service, extremely comfortably seats and theater, and really good food. Being used to the Alamo, I really appreciated the fact that you have your own table that swivles over your lap and that you dont have to share a table as that becomes overcrowded quickly. Highly recommend!
Very comfortable, and I want this place to succeed. But heres the thing. The film was either out of focus, or of such low resolution it looked like it. When brought to the attention of management they shrugged and said hey, they focused it this morning. Additionally the Tues matinee pricing function did not work. When brought to attention, they ticket girl comped them! The happy hour pricing was not observed on a (17$ !!) Glass of wine...until mention was made. So they have a few things to work out. But I hope they do!
$13.45 for a child. Bought a spicy chicken sandwich for $15.00, had less than 2oz. chicken in it. A Diet Coke is $7.00. The food was abysmal. The chicken sandwich comprised of 90% lettuce and mayo. And, 30 minutes of previews.. There was nothing luxury about the experience. Alamo Drafthouse is a much better experience.
This place used to be 5 star first class. But the new owners changed the menu, the tacos use to be so good and very high quality, now they are cheaply made and of lowest quality. Lucky the food that existed before the new owners is still delicious. The wait staff is still amazing, and the seats are amazing. I hope they bring back the original food some day.
Great place to watch a movie. Almost worth the price youll pay for the meals. Last ine we went they had, wait for it, No Popcorn! Claim was the machine was down. 1 machine for a whole theater? Went back and they had popcorn - slightly stale and very salty. Seems a pretty basic item for a movie theater to get right.
While we go here quite often, I feel tonights excursion warranted a review. M&E has recently revamped their menu and I must say that the changes arent conducive to a pleasant movie-going experience. For my wife, my son, and me, our bill was nearly $200! The associates were hustling throughout the whole time and I give them all kudos for their efforts. However, I ordered my usual bucket of Lone Star but it took forever to arrive. My wife got her drink; my son got his drink; and I was left parched. I notified the staff by pressing the button. A different associate than our original one appeared and I asked him about the bucket. He said, Uh..I dont think we have any more buckets...I dont even think we have Lone Star. Confused and literally in the dark (the movie was beginning), he told me that M&E were no longer serving buckets. Shocked and surprised I opened the scanned menu on my phone and noticed that most beers were now $7! I understand having to recoup losses from the last year but that was ridiculous. I hate to say that we will not be coming back to any of the M&E venues for quite sometime due to their inflation of prices.
Although the theater is well maintained the service needs improvement. I ordered popcorn and a soda at 8:00pm. I received two sodas, but no popcorn. At 8:30 I asked to see about the popcorn by 8:45 the server apologized and said he wouldnt charge the popcorn. By 8:55 he brings two very cold popcorn tubs. The movie finishes when I get the tab Im charged two soda drinks and the popcorn. I dont mind paying, but if you verbally tell me one thing and do another its not good customer service.
Movie house and eatery is a top tier movie theater experience. There are very plush electric recling chairs, a full bar, full service food with actual dishes and appetizers. The tickets are not expensive, but dining and alcohol there is. Honestly, it is worth the cash to go at least once in awhile. Pro tip: The cookies are amazing!!!Experience:- You order your tickets online. (Try to do so early cause it is assigned seating)- When ordering, try to get the middle of the theater. Dont worry about someone sitting next to you as there is plenty of personal space. During covid there has to be an empty seat on both sides of your group.- Arrive at least 15 minutes early 20 if its your first time. It is a larger than youd expect menu and you will have to make a decision.- Bring a blanket or jacket if you get cold easy. The Temps are usually on the lower side of things.- For a couple expect to pay around $110 if you order an appetizer, dinner for each of you, THOSE AMAZING COOKIES, and a couple of alcoholic drinks. (This is my estimate which includes the cost of 2 tickets)It is definitely a good impression on date night, premium family movie night, and a one stop for food, drinks, and a movie.
Not a bad theater. All seats recline, and the servers are a push of the button away. It is a bit pricey but the food was good and they had a decent amount of drinks to select from. The sound is great, top notch and even in the front row the view is good when reclined back. Maybe not an every day movie place but great for dates and special events. I really had a great time for my first visit.
Great food and very fast and comfortable seating! I love going to this theater. Very nice recliners. Bring your warm blanket to cozy up and watch a flick! Love that they are following cdc health and safety COVID19 guidelines, everyone masked up and socially distanced!
The movie house itself is always clean and comfortable. If this review was NOT including food it would be a 5. The service was very good. (Changed BACK to a four, from a three, because the review was responded to VERY quickly and the problem resolved. Hoping food will be hot next time. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼)Its also an eatery so we tried the food. It came cold. The bottomless drinks are $5 and ours were never refilled once. Disappointing.Next time we will plan food elsewhere and just go for the movie. We like this location for a movie a lot. Easy to find, easy parking, well kept theatre.UPDATE: Thanks for the quick response. No, our server didnt tell us about the button, but we should have known. You do everything else so well. Thanks again. We will be back soon.
Great location. Great food and drinks while watching the newest movies! The theaters are new and clean with reclining chairs that are very comfortable! The food is better than other theaters we’ve gone too and the service is great. The one change I would make is the way to order after the movie has started. I wish they had an option to write down the order instead of talking to the wait staff during the movie so the other movie goers wouldn’t be disrupted. But other than that we love this place! This location is never packed either so it’s a gem!
I have now been to this theater about 7 times now and have to say it is my favorite theater. The seats really make the experience. You are pretty much sitting in a comfortable la-z-boy with the full recline feature. The theater is new so all the seats (IMO) have worked and are in great condition. The food is also pretty good. We have our go-to items that we get just about every time - pretzels! We love their queso. If you end up going to an early showtime then check out their brunch menu. The breakfast tacos are really good. The only thing I wish they had more of is independent films. They only get first-run movies which is fine since there are many other theaters that we can find the smaller films at but it would be nice to have it all in one.
The theater is very clean and new. The seats are very comfortable and have power recline. The screen was big and the sound was loud and clear.Updated review: I had an issue with my food but the management was on top of it and was quick to make things right. Well definitely be back.
Wonderful service, super comfortable seats, and great food. I loved everything about this place......Except the bathrooms. They smelled like basic training sewer water. They should add in an air freshener or do something because it was barely tolerable. Also, if youre tall, your feet will hang off the end of the seat, but this is pretty standard. After all this, Ill be back. If I had to choose between here or Alamo Drafthouse, Im choosing here every time.
I loved watching movie here. Their huge recliner chairs gave me the feeling of watching movie at home. And the service was really good as well. It was a house full theatre, yet I was lucky enough to get a seat at the back row and I enjoyed frozen 2 really well from there. The ticket price was $12 for an evening show. Which seemed reasonable to me. Havent tried their food though, so cant comment on that. But from the smell of the food served to my neighboring seats were really tempting.
This location has been out go-to date spot every week since they opened. Often we double-date with some friends who also enjoy the movies. The food is always good (if expensive) and the service is equally pleasant. That changed with the reopening post-COVID.This location is now serviced by the Austin Gestapo. We wore our masks to enter the theater as local ordinance dictates. Our friends and we were the only people on row G and there may have been 10 other people in the entire theater. We observed social distancing, we were perfectly comfortable and we settled in for our return to the movies. We ordered drinks and food, reclined our chairs and got ready to enjoy.Within 5 minutes 3 separate employees came up DEMANDING we replace our masks - even while trying to take a drink. After the 3rd stern warning I tried to explain that weve already had COVID back in March and were at no risk of either passing or catching said propaganda infection. How are we supposed to eat or drink with a mask on? As a person with 28 years of infectious disease experience, am I not allowed to decide if I want to wear a mask? Remember, there is no one within 30 feet of us. Besides, masks dont help when you have hundreds of people daily touching and breathing on every surface in the theater.Policy is policy, but the staffs total lack of professional courtesy is unacceptable. We left before the movie started and they didnt refund our tickets and they charged us for food we never received. We are done with this theater and the other sites as well. The employees were given an ounce of authority and decided theyre the enforcers of infectious disease policy for the Austin area. this is Texas and, last I checked, we were allowed to still make some decisions for ourselves (as long as it doesnt impact others). Their behavior is completely unacceptable and this new management has ruined a favorite spot for many locals.
WOW! I’ve been here 3 times already and have had a wonderful experience each visit. The staff was beyond courteous; everyone I encountered was helpful and genuinely friendly. So comfortable! The seats reclined fully and there did not appear to be a bad seat in the house - front row to back, excellent view of the screen. The covered, well lit parking garage was a nice surprise. All of this made for a good experience, but the food is what will keep me going back. Fresh, delicious, made to order in a real kitchen...and the servers didn’t hesitate when almost everything I ordered had something special to add or remove. My food arrived quickly and was perfect on each visit. This is now my favorite theater!
My first time at this establishment. Very clean, staff was very polite and attentive. Food tastes great for reasonable prices. Same with the alcoholic beverages. Sangria was delicious. Theaters were clean and recliner chairs were comfortable. I like how each chair has a swivel table the allows you to get in and out of your chair easily. Id definitely recommend this place.
A little out of the way for me but totally worth the drive. The place is huge and very nicely decorated. Lots of parking available. Great recliner seating with your very own built in table/tray. Service at the push of a button and great food and drinks. Only drawback is that everything on the menu was a little pricey. But you have to try the fried pickle chips and bottomless buttered popcorn!
What an amazing addition to the neighborhood! Clean, great service, comfortable chairs, and good with food allergies! You can arrive 30 minutes early and have a chair-side chat with the chef about your allergies prior to ordering - thats pretty above and beyond for a movie theater. Theyre very communicative on Facebook if you have a question as well.
As much as I feel bad for cheating on the local favorite, I think Ill come to this place often. The food comes in generous portions and was quite tasty. There is a decent bar selection. The reclining seats with private trays are a big plus. I liked being able to summon a waiter with a call button. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Theater was comfortable with good sound and picture. And important for the texas summer: a covered parking area!
Love this theater. Clean and beautiful decor. Food is also good which is great. Although, I got the grilled shrimp tacos the first time I was there and there was a boat load of Cole slaw with 2 or 3 small shrimp on the inside. I would have preferred more for the price I paid. That and no one told me about the button you press to get service so we sat there for a little bit waiting. Would have been nice to mention it when I went to the front desk when I got there or have it mentioned when you purchase a ticket. Especially since its new.All in all. I love it here and will come back again and again. Its so close to home!
Best chicken sandwich I ever had. Really good food. Way better than i expected.Very clean. Friendly service. But the commercials before the show were unbearable. Seemed like about 20 minutes of commercials and very annoying ads for some really stupid movie trivia apps. They kept coming back with it.Id go back again but i wouldnt show up early. Our posted movie time was 130 but thats when they started previews, not the show.I hate to give 3 stars but honestly the ads and constant bombardment for their movie trivia app were near unbearable.
The Asian bowl is great. The chairs all recline and are quite comfortable. This experience was a bust because I ordered popcorn that didnt come until the movie was almost over, and one of the waiters was crude. I understand if you are having a bad night, but I dont want to hear you cussing about the patrons
I used to think Alamo Drafthouse was the peak of moviegoing experience. Moviehouse and eatery has shown me different and my wife and I really love this place way more than any other in town. The menus always good The ambiance is great and the staff is always friendly.
Always a little skeptical checking out a place shortly after it opened, but Moviehouse & Eatery Lantana Place did NOT disappoint. We saw the new Solo movie (which was also great) and the experience was everything we could have asked for. Seating was so comfortable, food was great, service was friendly, quick and not obtrusive. Obviously, everything is brand new which is nice. It seemed like they were already a well oiled machine. Can’t wait to go back :)
If youve been in Austin for a while this is similar to another theater chain, but better. The food is much better and the seats are much more comfortable. The chairs actually recline. To get service you can press a button vs raising a paper card and hope they see it in the dark. Ive had the fried pickles, hummus, and a salad. Really good job on the food. I like to arrive early get my seat and order so I can start eating before the movie starts. Each chair had its own table and not shared with others. Its a great movie experience.
Excellent movie viewing experience! I love the comfy, recliner seats, speedy service, and clean facilities. The food is just ok, but there are definitely some good items on the menu like the chicken lollipops or BBQ pizza. This place is a rival for our Austin gem, Alamo Drafthouse, but its such a different experience that I love both!
I give 2 stars for the food. It is way over priced for what you receive. Absolutely do not order anything with shrimp, it is way over cooked to the point that it doesn’t taste like shrimp.Otherwise I give this place 4 stars for the movie theatre itself. It is always clean, quiet, and the staff are very friendly and courteous.
Great food at this theater. I would come here just for the food because it was that good. The brussel sprouts with bacon was delish and they give a hefty portion as well so it was basically like a full meal. The mozzarella sticks too!! How do you get fried cheese to taste so dang good. They also had bottomless aquas frescas...yes please! The theater itself was still so new feeling, meaning very clean and updated. The seats are the most comfy movie theater seats ever. I like pressing a button to have a waiter come lol.
Everything was very clean, there are roomy reclining seats with individual table trays. The server was very friendly and attentive and explained how everything worked since it was my first time there. Food was really good, I will definitely visit again, their menus change seasonly.
I’m was a big fan of moviehouse they’re seats and the cleanliness is impeccable the new location is great. My biggest gripe is the diluted cocktails and the slow service. I don’t know if they’re drinks are premixed but for $10 a drink they should put the proper contents in them. They also need to hire more fast paced individuals. It took forever to get my food but it was delicious once it finally arrived.
This place is good but the seating and the entire establishment is a little bit smaller than the other movie house that I’m used to off of 620. The food was super good, hopefully it stays that way. The seats are great the staff was a little bit slow but I’m sure it’s because they are new. good experience. Perfect place to spend Father’s Day with the kids watching the Incredibles 2.
Its like buying a brand new car and you love that brand new car smell. The staff have been trained very well, great location, plenty of space it seems a good amount of planning went into the designed to ensure little to no congestion and customers feel like theyre in a mansion. Keep up the great work employees you all shine with your amazing customer service delivery.
Movie: Invisible ManTime: 10:30pmDate: March 4, 2020/WednesdayMovie was GREAT!Ive always enjoyed myself at this theater. However, this last time was interesting to say the least. My date and I ordered food and a drink. The attendant, Blake, stopped before he left our seats and said, I think Im missing something. I said, Dont forget the cheese on my fries please. He replies, Thats It!. I wont forget. We thanked him and when he brings our food, I notice that there is no cheese on my fries. I inquire as to why and his response was as follows, Oh, it was extra and I wasnt sure if you wanted to pay for it.Really????Dear Blake, I do understand that on this side of town, youre accustomed to a certain breed/race, but I promise you that minorities can afford cheese fries too. So for future reference, when a customer makes a request, you should try honoring it as opposed to questioning whether or not the request is within their price range. Making that determination isnt part of your job responsibilities. Your job is to SERVE. Your assumption was insulting and I do hope that your employer offers you some sort of customer service tips to ensure that this doesnt occur again.Yours truly,A highly disappointed Black Customer whos certain that you wouldnt pull this stunt on your regulars (aka... Soccer moms, Starbucks regulars, etc).
A good place to go and watch a movie! The food was a little expensive, but the service was great and the food was high quality. It reminds me of a less crowded version of The Alamo Draft House. The main difference is that they allow people under the age of 18 to go to a move alone.
Ive only been here once but the staff was extremely friendly and had tasty food. Went during lunch hours and the bartender was working solo, she did a great job staying on top of our needs as well as the movie-goers needs. Didnt see a movie, however we checked out the theaters; the seats looked extremely comfy along with huge screens.
This is our favorite movie theater in Austin! The service is terrific, the seats are cozy with the reclining feature, and they have delicious food! Moviehouse popcorn is our favorite popcorn and we love that it is bottomless; same with the soft drinks. Prices are reasonable for a movie theater, especially for the quality! We also love the photo booth at the entrance of the theater, great way to capture family or date night snapshots.
I like to give places like this a few tries before penning a review, and this last visit was number four. Firstly, the recliners are better and more spacious than what youll find at the Alamo Drafthouse. The Alamos recliners feel right on top of each other, with little space between you and and the next seat. The three times Ive ordered food here was a bit of hit or miss. But, if youre going to compare MH to Alamo you get the same mixed bag. Sometimes very good and other times meh. I dare say MH may be better with their food because of Alamos sky high menu cost, and that the executive chefs at Alamo cant seem to make up their minds on a menu to stick with for the most part.
Very comfortable leather chairs with electric recline including footrests. The best chairs Ive seen at a movie theater before.I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, which had good flavor but was very wet with sauce, and the chicken was like twice the size of the bread. This had me holding a saucy, hot chicken breast with my fingers in a dark theater while waist deep in a cushy leather recliner. Not the most ideal food for the setting. I ordered chocolate chip cookies to follow. They tasted amazing but were under baked and thus 85% goo.The covered parking lot next to the theater was a nice touch.tl;dr Amazing chairs, alright food. Alamo has slightly better food but Moviehouse wins for comfort.
Next level movie theater experience. Weve come a long way from the old days of the Drafthouse. This is beyond anything they could have envisioned way back when they were slinging porkys pizza in those greasy cloth chairs.Moviehouse has an excellent selection on their menu, and everything seems to be scratch made or close to it. Everything Ive tried in my handful of visits was excellent. The prices were reasonable with most markup seemingly being on alcohol, which there is plenty of to choose from. The theaters vary in size, but all of them have super comfy recliners and personal tables that give you plenty of room to chow down. Sound systems were very good, and picture quality was excellent.
This place is amazing. Do not think of it as a movie theater where you can order food, instead think of it as a nice restaurant in a nice facility that shows you movies. Service has always been great and the pricing is very acceptable. This is my only place to go to watch a movie!
Great movie theater! Seats are bigger and more comfortable then Alamo. Food is pretty good also although at times service is off.I hate their online portal for buying tickets. When selecting a time theres like 3 additional steps before you can see the seat map. Let me see the seat map before selecting how many tickets. Sometimes a Showtime is almost full and you have to go back and forth with the annoying menu that takes a while to load. Bad user experience. One final note, this Lantana location has a bunch of Tesla destination chargers which is really convenient if you happen to own a Tesla
Amazing experience on par with the original Austin location. Exceptionally food and drink specials with comfy and clean theatres. However, their restroom clean up could use quite an improvement. Of the few times weve been the womens restroom has been completely closed off.UPDATE: It appears they have fully functional bathrooms as of our last couple of visits.
Hard to not write a movie theater review in Austin and not compare the theater to the Alamo Drafthouse. That being said this theater stacks up pretty well! the food is really good and the seating is plush and comfortable. When it comes to ordering food mid-movie theres a plus and minus. You get a button to alert the staff you want something which is neat however where they lose a star is the staff member has to come and actually ask you want you want. This then distracts you and the guests around you. Otherwise great theater and prices definitely worth going to!
This is a great place to go catch a movie. With spaced out reserved recliner seating with a pivoting table. They have watstaff to tend to your needs throughout the movie. The food is as good as Ive experienced in a theater or a sit down restaurant. Full bar and lounge area to hang before and after the movie. Tough to go to an old style movie theater after this experience.
Has taken over for Alamo for my family. Better seats and better food. Wish they would emphasize the quiet theater more like Alamo but overall the experience is superior. Still love both venues. Alamos custom pre show work is still fun and unique. Movie house is a premium but traditional experience.
MOST COMFORTABLE RECLINING SEATS out of all the theaters Ive been to. I reccomend bringing a light, comfy throw blanket to snuggle yourself under and really sink in and enjoy the movie and good eats. The fries are so good.I would definitely go here for any long movies.
Absolute best movie theater I’ve been to! It’s clean everywhere, including the bathrooms, the food trays, and even the little buttons you press to recline. Their menu is outstanding! We only got their bottomless popcorn but even that was made with coconut oil and real butter. The quality of the seats and the details in the theater itself is first class. Movie House and Eatery is a little bit tucked away, a hidden gem. I will be going back because 1. It’s not as hectic and chaotic as normal cinemas. Staff was professional and well trained and our ticket buying process was orderly. 2. Clean as can be. The soap on the bathroom smelled good— heck there was actually soap LEFT in the bathroom when our movie got out at midnight! Cleanliness factor is very important for me. 3. Top quality food choices, thoughtful menus and great service. 4. Our movie was made very easy to enjoy. It’s surprising how many other theaters goof this simple purpose up, but Movie House and Eatery nails it’s— the comfort, the nice staff, great food and clean atmosphere. Thank you for being here!
The service was horrible. Servers took our order about 20 minutes before the movie started. About 20-30 minutes into the movie we finally got our food. Refills came back after 10 or 15 minutes after we requested them. Food was pretty good honestly, but the service was pretty bad. Probably just my one night experience but other people in the theater got the wrong order and experience what we did.
We were excited to visit this place for the first time, so much so that we showed up early and were the first to order our meal. In the time that we waited for both appetizer and entree our neighbor received three orders, none of which they ordered. I had to remind our server of our appetizer, as an apology for the delay in appetizer we were offered free popcorn. As considerate as that was, we still had yet to receive our entrees. One of our party decided after their meal that theyd go ahead and get a bowl of popcorn, at the bottom of the bowl he found a long hair.Overall the experience left a bad taste in our mouth... pun intended. I probably wont return for a long while, it may give them sometime to improve their service.
Had a bad experience a few days ago with a server by the name of “Panda” (yes that’s on his badge!) gotta put it out there he was definitely unprofessional, basically threw the receipt tray where my daughter was sitting at and said “we work for tips thank you” in the most rudest tone ever, after the manager stepped away. Service was not good, got food an hour late with no explanation only after he got called out from the manager, didn’t get checked on to see if we needed more drinks or anything. This Movie house usually has awesome servers that take care of their customers and Those are the ones that get the good tips!!!! Normally movie house has awesome service all the way around but this time was a fluke. On the plus side manager by the name of shamel made it all right he is the best manager at movie house very professional and handled the situation the best way I can say in customer service!! He needs a bigger promotion! Thank you movie house.
3.5 Stars.tldnr: Seats are comfy, staff is friendly. Food and drinks, while super tasty, take a VERY LONG TIME regardless of how full the theater is. Prefer The Alamo Drafthouse for my dine-in theater experiences. The movie theaters themselves are GREAT! The reclining chairs are SUPER comfortable. Great place to go to watch a movie. The food is good too, reasonably priced. However, I will say compared to other dine-in theater franchises around Austin, the service at The Moviehouse & Eatery end is sub-par. I dont recommend going to the dine-in theaters here if youre really hungry because I found Ive had to wait quite a while for my food to arrive, whether it was a meal or an appetizer (even when the theater is empty). Drink orders take a while too.The servers have always been super friendly and accommodating, and for the most part they get your order exactly the way your want it.I do not know if the servers have to work in multiple theaters, if the business is understaffed, or if the food takes so long because it is made to order. That being said, my mom LOVES this place, and it is within close proximity to where she lives. I go there because of her. But if I had the choice for dine-in theaters, I would prefer to go to the Alamo.
Went on a Friday night. Awesome how you can choose your seats like on a plane 😁 to make sure you all get to sit together.Really impressed over all, electric reclining chairs super comfy and spacious (thought the chair was possessed for a second)...Too many things in my right pocket and was pressing the button. 😂.Service very quick! As for food we went on the healthy side. The date plate (chefs choice) [rate 5/5] & hummus plate [4/5] red chilli hummus was bland. Veggies market fresh! If enjoying some beverages I recommend any of the buckets of beer . They bring a decent stand to hold them and they are iced.We definitely return.
Service here was terrible. The young lady who was working obviously couldn’t do a simple task. I ordered a cup of water. A simple cup of water. i never got after asking three times through the movie, which was very Annoying because the people around were getting their drinks, even glasses of water. She was also blocking the view for everyone else due to having to talk to us throughout the movie. I also got a Mac and cheese which ended up being disgusting. Defeating the main purpose of coming here. This was supposed to be a place to EAT AND WATCH A MOVIE NOT WASTE MONEY ON DISGUSTING FOOD AND HAVE EVERYONE TALKING THROUGH THE MOVIE . If you wanna have a good experience skip this place and go to the Alamo! Not pleased at all.
Very clean place. Kid friendly. Delish brunch. Plenty of free parking. Not cheap...at all. Staff a bit slow, especially during free kids movies in the morning. Too loud, but all theaters are. Great coffee. Wide aisles. Other food is adequate. Early seating for ordering. No waiting in line.
It is similar in nature to the drafthouse or to AMC equivalents, however their food is sublime. We will pass a dozen movie theaters on our way across town to go here due to the food being amazing. In particular 3 warm cookies and a pint of milk delivered halfway through the movie is my favorite.
Great environment and friendly staff. The price of food is definitely on the expensive side but I feel that the quality is there. Seats are super comfortable recliners and have trays that swing into place so you dont have to reach for you food. Make sure to arrive early to order your food.
We saw Rocketman, the Elton John movie. The movie was great...a bit frenetic, like his life. Terrific music. The screen was large and bright. Sound was kinda loud, but they either adjusted it or I adjusted to it. I had a burger and fries. My wife had a salad. Both were excellent. We shall return.
Several children were loud, messy and obnoxious during an afternoon movie today. Their shoes were off, the children ran through the aisles and threw their candy on the ground. Furthermore, other patrons repeatedly asked the children to lower their voices to no avail. Their behavior was consistently disruptive to the other movie goers during the ENTIRE movie. Several wait staff members witnessed the calamity and failed to escalate the situation to management. Sadly, the Moviehouse staff did nothing to protect the other patrons. In addition, the bar staff knew of the incident and they spoke of it after the movie. What is the policy at the Moviehouse? How badly does it have to get before management is willing to act on behalf of their customers? No plans for me to return to the Latana Moviehouse & Eatery
We are occasional Alamo Drafthouse goers and decided to give this place a try for something different. Our date night here made me realize that Ive been taking the Alamo ambiance and experience for granted, and I will not make that mistake again. Here are the mental notes I took through our date:We show up 30 minutes early as instructed in our email, and only waited a couple minutes before they opened the theatre doors. We sit down in our seats, which are comfortable, but you cant recline until your legs are completely out in front of you, which was a little awkward because I just wanted a slight recline with my legs down. You get used to it. We look at the menu and notice that the pricing seems higher here. I think the cheapest beer was a $6 Dos Equis. I wanted to try the brussels sprouts but they were $9.50, so I went straight to ordering the main dinner (lobster tacos were good, I think about $15). Service was fine. I used the call button once when we realized we didnt have water and they were prompt. The most negative part of the experience for us was having to eat dinner through a barrage of loud, obnoxious advertisements before the movie. It felt like a punishment for coming early. They were really pushing the vanity treatments for their slightly more upscale clientele, like Botox injections. That and constant Noovie ads urging you to take out your phone and download their trivia app or their arcade app, etc etc. A cute actress would come out and pretend to interact with you as if you were playing the game. (What a weird contrast to Alamo where they play fun videos and ask you to put away your phone for once). I very actively avoid commercials and ads because I find them stressful, so I did not enjoy having to be a captive audience for that. Finally after half an hour the actual previews started and my nerves started to calm.Id also ordered a Mexican Martini, expecting that a reasonably sized tequila-based drink would help me survive the pre-movie ads, but it showed up as pictured (I promise I hadnt taken a sip yet); a glorified shot glass, maybe 2/3 full, that was not even cold. Really, the taste was fine, but it was barely cooler than room temperature. This was $10. You know, the same as non-happy hour at Trudys where they give you a whole shaker. I think we ended up paying about $80 plus tip, which did not feel like a good value at the end of it. Two adult tickets, two meals, two drinks. No appetizers, no extras. The actual movie starting was such a relief.
Im 3 for 3 with good experiences! Visited December 2018, January 2019 x 2: good food & service!5 stars for the seats - love the review that says that if you bring a blanket, you may waste your $ because youll be so comfy you may fall asleep!4 stars (1 star reduction) because yes, they ought to use a paper/written/less verbal way to take orders (can be distracting when others around you have multiple orders during the movie), and the 1st experiences food. Because of the next 2 positive experiences, I may bump this to 5 stars with another stellar experience!4 stars for food -December visit: loaded nachos (or whatever they call them)- recall chuckling at lack of stuff on the majority of chips & wondering why especially at the price. Beet salad- chuckled at the descriptor roasted (beet salad), wondering how they were roasted when they strongly resemble the jarred beets from Costco - seriously, like they were out of a jar of decent pickled beets. The creamy blob of cheese was odd to me - I guess being a massive blob. Hard to see/break up into sizable portions when watching a movie in the dark.January visit #1: lobster tacos - yummy, but only a hint of warmth remaining. FYI, wasnt starving, but I ended up ordering popcorn after because I wanted more.January visit #2: Southwest bowl- yummy! Kids enjoyed their meals (burger & quesadillas).Love the reclining leather seats!Oh, and the seating map is a bit skewed: chose 4 seats in the middle only to get there and be further to the right than the middle.
It took forever to have someone come take our order. They took order of huge party that sat down after us. After we finally ordered it took forever just to get drinks, one we had to ask for 3 times and received 40 mins in. We received our appetizer around then and 5 mins later our entrees came out. They also brought someone elses food and dropped it before we could say it wasnt ours. Everything to do with food and services sucked. I did love how far back the reclining chairs went back after being very disappointed with the food I was able to just recline back and enjoy the movie.
Honestly, go to Alamo Drafthouse or Cinemark. My wife and I went to a Monday evening showing of Captain Marvel (on the 4th day it was released) and I couldnt enjoy the movie. The movie itself was okay but the experience left MUCH to be desired.First, the volume was way too low for a blockbuster film, especially one which was just released. Second, they had the sound so dynamically compressed that it sounded like watching it on a soundbar in the living room. This is my biggest complaint because when I go the the movie theater, especially a brand new one, I expect it to be an immersive and dynamic experience, not bland and boring. Seriously, it was awful (in the big house too, no less). In addition, the projections black levels were terrible, reducing the immersive factor further; providing a gray and washed out image - not a huge deal, but worth noting. The service from our waiter was adequate but unremarkable (which is actually fine with me), but the food wasnt worth the money. $12 for bland and dry chicken fingers with cold unsalted fries does not an enjoyable meal make. I mean, I didnt have high hopes for a meal like this to begin with; I ordered it thinking how can you mess up chicken fingers and fries? But they sure found a way. The old fashioned I ordered was literally two sips - Im not kidding - $10 for 2 sips. Oh well.Anyways, save yourself the disappointment, and go to Alamo. They dont have as comfortable chairs as MH&E, but the superior quality of their audio/video system, and their consistently delicious food make it a FAR better value and much more fun.
Big comfy recliners with swivle tables, but seriously terrible service. The servers are friendly but they do not have it together. My buddy had to ask for ketchup 3 times and I had to click my button 3 times over 30 min to get a tea refill. They just completely forget about you.
The Lantana Place Moviehouse and Eatery is my favorite place to watch movies. The recliners are super comfortable; they have an excellent selection of food; and, the service is great. I would have given five stars but all winter we’ve had to bring blankets because they haven’t turned up the heat in our theaters until we asked them to turn the heat on.
Food is great but the common problem I am seeing now is the overcharging. There has to be a better system to this not happening. Overcharge for 2 popcorns is not a happy surprise at the end.Noise is another concern. Not patrons but from the parchment paper that is used for serving the food to the metal silverware. All this noise distracts more than phones.
I called to see if the matinee prices were different when buying in person vs. online. I thought $12.99 was high for a 4:50 showing. I was told by a young man over the phone that the first showing of any movie there was considered a matinee and the price would be $10.99. When we got to the theater the kid who rang us up for the tickets told me that the tickets were $12.99 even though it was the first showing of that movie for the day. He presented himself as if he had some authority and he insisted there was no matinee price for the movie. He was a little full of himself so I didnt press the issue because it seemed as if his heels were dug in pretty deep. I will never go back to this place. I hate getting the runaround and even though it was nice because it wasnt very busy, I dont like places that have arbitrary policies and who put teenagers in charge. My impression of this place was that they want to compete with Alamo Drafthouse but dont have a fraction of the ethics of the people who run the Alamo. I gave them 2 stars instead of one because we were able to park right in front of the door.
Its extremely disappointing that this movie does not support black films. Its been multiple occasions where this theatre doesnt show an all black cast film. Queen and Slim and Bad Boys For Life are both not being shown at this theatre and its clear its due to the all black cast. Its just a shame that a theatre I love so much is showing their true colors.
We found our seats and was not greeted after sitting down. Had to wait about 10 mins and had to push the button in order for us to get any attention. We finally placed our order with our original server and saw that after about 10 to 15 mins our drinks weren’t even given to us yet. We saw everyone else in our row get their food and drinks before us even though we were the first to place our order in our row. When we noticed that our order was not coming out, we pushed the button to ask about our order. Another server came to attend to us and asked if we pushed the button. We said yes and proceeded to explain our situation. This server then decided to give us some attitude and asked us if we needed anything when we were trying to explain that we haven’t even received our food, let alone drinks yet. I think she said something along the lines of, “you pushed the button, so do you need anything?” We clearly pushed the button because we haven’t received our order and to explain what’s going on. After getting someone’s attention about our situation, our entrees came out first, not the drinks and appetizer, but our entrees. No silverware was given, had to push the button to ask for silverware. Thankfully our first server came back to us and said that our appetizer would be on the house for their mistake. I’m not normally one to complain about service, but this was pretty horrendous. We chose moviehouse for a reason, because we had a great experience the first time we went to one and expected to receive that same great service regardless of the location. Anyways, at least they did not mess up the food. Fries, excellent.
We went to two different shows this weekend; visiting the theater for the first time. Overall it was great and we will toggle back and forth between here and Alamo Drafthouse. Note: if you are basing what you see off of the being in the big theater, its not a bigger screen, so dont let that influence your decision.Pros: awesome recliner seats, great mix drinks, good food variety and quality for the most part.Cons: no character and terrible pre show ads, skimpy salads (see below)What we ordered:Fried pickles (3/5)Fried cheese (4/5)Double dipped shrimp (small but 5/5)Date plate charcuterie (big and 5/5)Lobster tacos (4/5)Italian pizza (3/5)Breakfast tacos (3/5)Steak salad(0/5)I actually sent back the salad because I couldnt find any steak in it. 15 minutes later I got what seemed like the same salad with more crispy onions on top. Hilarious. I found 4 pieces of meat each the size of a nickel as I ate. Dont get the salad.
There was hair in my popcorn and still I was charged, the waiter forgot to put in our order and lied about it, and then he lied about how good the gluten free buns for to he hamburgers tasted then turned around and said you know actually Ive never eaten them before!!!It wasnt the theaters fault but honesty goes a long way and there is no reason to BS a customer, own it move on dont lie!!!!!
Alright, Im going to moviehouse and eatery for... Movie with food and drinks. Movie with awesome chairs check, drinks standard (not as good as Alamo Drafthouse), but food was terrible: three mac without cheese and a sprinkle of sawdust to make it pretty... Too bad its dark and you cant see it. I dont expect great food, but come on guys, this is ridiculous. If food doesnt get better soon, at least in quantity, you wont get my business, sorry.
Went here last night for the first time. First off, the food was good, and the picture and sound was fine, but please train your staff to bus the tables. During the movie I ordered 4 drinks and 2 plates of food, and at the end my table was crowded with 4 empty glasses and a dirty dish, and had the adjacent seat not been empty so that I could put the other dish on its table (where it sat for the entire movie), it would have been worse. Im not sure if this is policy or just laziness, and this may be nit-picky, but if youre trying to compete with the Alamo Drafthouse then you should extend the same basic restaurant courtesy as they do.

2022-06-17I have had a consistently excellent experience at this theater. It is consistently very clean, the waitstaff are helpful, friendly and efficient. The popcorn is fresh and the food has been very good. The seats are very comfortable leather recliners. Unlike a few of the reviews, I have always found the theater to have a comfortable temperature, but then, I am not one that keeps the AC really low at my own home. From reading a few of the recent reviews it seems that some of the audience is unaware that every seat has a button that you press when you want service. Because of this button the waitstaff are unlikely to come unsolicited to ask you if you need anything. I have always received service when I press this button. In summary, this is my favorite movie theater.

2022-05-20Ive been coming here for years and Id like to say that my experiences have generally been great so far. Its easily my favorite place to watch movies in Austin. I do have a bit of bad news though....First Id like to outline what I like: The cleanliness is paramount and the theatre has done a very good job of this over the years. Additionally, the staff is friendly and seats are comfortable. Please do not let these standards slip. The reason Im writing this review and the reason it is three stars and not 5 is because of the temperature. Ive been three times in the past 6 months and each time the temperature was uncomfortably hot. This is not just me either, the whole theatre, each time, was audibly and constantly shifting in their seats and muttering under their breath about the same. This makes an otherwise fantastic experience almost unbearable. Please fix this, I want to continue coming there!

2022-04-14Recliners are very comfortable, and the place has a nice atmosphere. The only issue is that the food and drinks can be *very* pricey. If thats not a big deal for you like it is for me, then this is probably a great option. As it stands, if you go in to a movie looking to get an entree, an appetizer, and a drink or two, youre looking at paying upwards of 50$ (including tip).Popcorn and soda is a good alternative however; both come bottomless if that floats your boat (personally I couldnt finish a single popcorn by myself but a group could easily). Overall a great establishment; my go-to cinema in Austin.

2022-03-07Movie theater is very comfortable and the food is pretty good as well. Ive always noticed that all the employees seem like theyre running around like chickens with their head cut off confused though. The first time we went fast for a refill about four times by pushing my button and never got one. The second time we ordered a popcorn and a donut. My wife asked for the donut to come out during the movie so they didnt bring it out during the previews. Employee was very polite and said that he will put a delay on it and bring it out. About 30 minutes into the movie we push the button to ask if they could bring it out because we hadnt received it yet. Three people ended up coming out with three separate donuts, and we told them we only ordered one. Ended up getting charge for two and had to deal with getting a refund for about 20 minutes after the movie.

2022-06-06Really comfy couches and the viewing experience was excellent but the downside is once they dropped off the food they never came back. We would have ordered a second round of drinks but didnt want to leave the theater to go find somebody. I liked the menu selection and the food was good. I ordered chicken strips with honey mustard and they charged me for the honey mustard but they forgot to bring it. I waited for somebody to come back around but they never did. I had to leave the theater and stand outside the kitchen for a while until I caught someones attention. I understand that everywhere is short-staffed right now but if there was a way to get the attention of somebody for refills and reorders without having to leave the theater that would be amazing.

2022-05-29Seats comfortable. Theater too hot. Waiter should explain how to order more drinks once movie starts, how to access menu like Alamo Draft House does. We only saw waiter once and as first timers we did not know how to order again. We assumed waiter would come back during movie.

2022-01-08Awesome spot! We were the only ones there. Super comfy reclining seats and a decent menu of apps, entrees and movie snacks.

2022-01-08This is a great place. Large menu with great options. Not sure about the $7.00 bottle of Miller Lite (I almost ordered 2 but then the thought of spending $14.00 on 2 beers was too much for my brain to handle. The recliners are comfy and ordering is easy. Highly recommend..

2022-05-23Service was mostly good. They brought our entrees without ever bringing our popcorn so had to remind them to bring it. ALL the food was brought cold even the popcorn. Unfortunately, this is not an unusual experience for us. We always go for the movie and hope that the food experience will be better but its not. Its a major reason why we typically just wait for movies to come out on Prime.

2021-09-08100% Genuine friendly service, DELICIOUS FOOD, and very comfortable Theatre especially our current pandemic given circumstances. The chairs recline and have a service call button like The Alamo Drafthouse, but I was told these guys are the OG of this type of dine-in movie experience and I totally see it. 10/10 recommend!
