I can find plant here that no one else in the DFW area carries like rare or unusual cast iron plants, Fatsia Japanica, helebores, citrus and much more. They also have very knowledgeable staff. The prices are a bit higher than Home Depot, but too bad. Its the selection and expertise thats the offset.
North Haven Gardens is an awesome place. They bounced right back after the tornado leveled the garden center. Then covid hit us, but we stood strong. I will confess I am the head cashier, I loved NHG before the tornado and love it still. My coworkers are great, our customers are awesome. I can tell you all about it but you really should take an trip to see us. Our center is full of color, garden advisors ready to help you. Come out and see our new building and enjoy your visit. Bring your dogs, leashes are required. We are an open center, we do ask our guests to wear masks. I look forward to meeting you. See ya soon
I was impressed with the selection they had outdoors and in their indoor green houses. Def check out their huge selection of caladium bulbs! Their pottery is a little more expensive than their competitors and compared to a big-box-store but they had some unique pots Ive never seen before. Indoors the have a great variety of soil amendments. The staff was eager to help too! :3 🍀
What an incredible nursery and garden center.I just cannot say enough about the staff, their knowledge and kindness. The plants are healthy, thriving and there is a large variety. The indoor shop has some wonderful inventory and innovative ideas. It has truly made a difference purchasing from North Haven Gardens.I especially want to give a shout out to Marxel!Professional extraordinaire! He is extremely knowledgeable, patient and kind. He truly goes the extra mile to assure that you have gotten what you need and that your experience is top notch!I will be a customer for life!
I hate giving this place 3-stars. Ive been going there for years because they always have a great selection of plants that I cannot find any place else. All of the staff know plants and are very eager to help. The store got completely destroyed in a tornado a couple of years ago and they are still rebuilding. I can tell it is going to be nice when it is done. When I went on Sunday afternoon, there was hardly anything left in the store. There were signs that they are getting new shipments all of the time. They lost plants in the freeze a couple of weeks ago. The freeze also affected their suppliers. If you know what youre looking for, call ahead. If you just want to look around (like I do), call before you go to make sure they restocked.
The Gardners there are incredibly knowledgeable and willing to teach you about your plant purchases. They also help to address concerns you might have regarding your garden. Very friendly staff and great quality plants/supplies! I will definitely be visiting more often!
I CAN NOT RAVE ABOUT THIS PLACE ENOUGH!1: the staff are PLANT PEOPLE! They each knew what I was talking about and offered their own personal experience with different things. Plus they were SO HELPFUL!2: organized. This place was clean and well taken care of.3: prices were what I would expect of a private nursery- if not better.4: THE PLANT SELECTION! I did not see a single plant there that was not properly taken care of, in fact I saw multiple staff member pruning and wiping down leaves and giving proper plant care.I will definitely be back and highly recommend this place.
I love NHG -- I have a great experience every time I go in there. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the selection of plants is incredible and the entire atmosphere of the place is that of a neighborhood garden run by someones friendly aunt. My only possible critique is that sometimes their selection of planters suffers a little in terms of variety, but what they do have is gorgeous.
I enjoy this nursery and they have rebuilt their facilities very nice. On Sunday I ran in to get a couple of items only to be held up to cash out on a long line. I felt bad for a couple of their cashiers that had to ask their customers to wear their masks.I so much appreciated their diligence. I returned my items and left. I will return another day maybe not on such a busy day.
Nice, well kept place. Had a nice variety of plants and trees. The staff was very helpful, and helped me select the perfect tree for my project. Another employee recommended a product to me, to stimulate root growth. The prices were about average. I will be coming back to get more plants when I need them.
We were looking for a fiddle-leaf fig tree for our daughter’s birthday and we found what we wanted here. We’ve always had great customer service here and Elizabeth was no exception. We went with the fiddle-leaf she suggested. Thank you, Elizabeth! The new North Havens looks great. After so much damage, it’s great to see you come out of the other side.
Always an amazing experience visiting Northhaven, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and stock is top tier compared with the chains of nurseries that try to sell plants of any condition.Today I was looking for native Texas plants for a landscaping job but have always bought items for both personal and professional work here.Im so glad to see them rebuilt bigger and better after the tornado!
I like shopping for garden supplies and plants here. Anytime and any place you can shop with a beer in your hand, well, it just doesnt get much better, does it? Staff knowledgeable and friendly. A tornado struck the place a couple of years ago and theyre not quite up to speed, so a little patience. Still though, if you like plants, gardening, landscaping,. North Havens the place.
Do you respectfully request that I wear a mask (like it says on your door), or do you require that I wear a mask? There is a difference here, which one is it?Your door says one thing but your employees are saying another. Or, do your policies ebb and flow based on the political ideologies of each of your employees...if the latter is the case maybe you should post a sign on the door that says our policies are ever changing based on the way that our employees feel.Love your plant selection though, very superior selection.
Super knowledgeable and friendly staff. I went once with my friend and got hooked. Now I got a little garden starting up on my apartment patio. Not expensive either especially for quality products and plants. Also really great advice. Theyre a blessing to me and many more Im sure.
I just discovered this place after visiting a few other nurseries in the area and North Haven is my favorite! The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and they have a diverse selection that seems to change daily. They also carry sometimes hard to find items like beneficial nematodes and worm castings (locally sourced lol!) Theyre making a good recovery from last years devastating tornado so Im excited to keep supporting this local gem.
I do not go here often because it is not close to my home but always stop when I am in the neighborhood. The facility is clean and organized. There are lots of variety of plants to choose from. Prices are okay but it is probably because of the area that they are in. They often have great sales and the staff are very knowledgeable. Love the cafe here and have enjoyed some seminars. The inside store has some great gift ideas for everyone. Definitely stop here if you are in the neighborhood.
Fabulous nursery and a Dallas institution. Theyve really taken the destruction of the facility by the tornado in stride. They still have a great selection, still have lovely staff (that always look so fresh and neat in 100° summer heat, HOW?) that are eager to help.My favorite thing is the lack of BS. If you ask an associate a question, and they dont know, they straight tell you that. They dont try to answer, they just find the person that actually knows.I drive all the way from south Dallas near Fair Park to shop at this nursery. I cant wait to see what it looks like when construction is done
This is one of my favorite places in the world! Seriously, you cannot help but leave with a smile. They have a vast selection of plants and the staff is always so helpful and knowledgeable. I didnt know how great I had it when I lived in Richardson and this was my neighborhood nursery. Now I live in Fort Worth and still make the trip over a few times a year because there is no other nursery that can compare.
So this place is beautiful! It has a little cafe with one of the best salmon wraps Ive ever had. The scenery is gorgeous and you can sit outside among all the greenery or inside the cafe. I bought several plants for my manager here for bosss day and she absolutely loves them to death! Best place to go if youre over the home depot and lowes experience. Try something fresh for once!
I visited this place for the first time today and boy do I wish I’ve known of this place sooner! Everyone was extremely friendly which is hard to find in nurseries! Most other nurseries have that, “nose in the air” snooty vibe. This place has plants you can’t find anyplace else (such as Mimosa Pudica Sensitive Plants) and plenty of them! The prices were on the high side but the quality of product is unmatched by anyone else in my opinion. I couldn’t buy everything I wanted in one trip but that just gives me an excuse to go back! And I will be back! This place took a direct hit from the October 20 2019 EF3 tornado. They’re slowly but surely rebuilding. Shopping here will help them out tremendously! Support local businesses!
Beautiful nursery with varieties of plants and herbs! I was there before the tornado and picked up some gardening products and a beautiful marble pothos. Unfortunately it died within two weeks and I couldn’t come to get it exchanged due to their reconstruction. I had to throw away the plant and $30.I have bought many other indoor plants that are thriving without any issues even during winter. We were so thrilled to finally find a great nursery that we definitely wanted to come back during spring time to renovate our outdoor garden. However, with this experience being my first time at North Haven, I wouldn’t come back. Also the only person greeted or reached out for help was the lady working in the outdoor. The girls inside at the register didn’t even bother to say hi (We greeted first) nor smiled.
UPDATE 6/30 - the garden center is still great, but the two girls working on my recent visit were incredibly unprofessional, even rude to me when I asked a few questions about plants, and cuttings. As a REPEAT customer who drives 45 minutes to visit this particular garden center, I was put off of coming again.A truly one of a kind garden center. The staff is SO kind and knowledgeable. It’s totally worth the drive if you live a ways away. Plants are always healthy!
This place has a wonderful selection of plants from the basics that you can find at most nurseries, but also many other beautiful species that are hard to find. Every time I visit, I find something new that I didnt even know existed especially in the tropical department. I hope next time I go there I can try their cafe. They can be a little pricy on some of their products, but they do run specials and give discounts for bulk purchases.
We live north of Dallas but its definitely worth the trip down to North Haven 2 or 3 times a year for us. They have a great selection and we especially like their selection spice plants. Probably what sets them apart is the certified staff members that are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
Amazing place to go especially if you are a gardener. This place is huge! There are all kinds of things to buy from plants to potters to garden tools to yard decorations and so so much more! The people who work here are very knowledgeable and friendly. There is a good amount of parking. I really enjoy the classes they have. My mom and I went to the chocolate one and got lots of yummy samples. We also went to the bird of prey and saw some really cool birds and owls and learned a whole bunch of stuff. There is also a cafe and a gift shop.
They talk to people who are not their core customer. Thats me. I dont garden, prune, trim, etc. I went there to buy a plant for my interior. I found them friendly and they did not over whelm me with stuff I will not do or even remember after I drive out of the parking lot. Plus I got there just as they were about to close and there was no sense of hurry up and leave. If the plant I bought survives, I might be brave enough to return.
If you want to visit a peaceful oasis in the city, come here! They have a few acres and it covered in plants that are Dallas weather- proof! They even have chickens! In seven years, everything that I have bought from NHG has thrived! The staff are incredibly sweet, kind, and knowledgeable. They offer so many pop up classes, which strengthen your skill set in a short period. I love this place! Come and enjoy!
A very special family-owned nursery that employs knowledgeable staff and carries a wide selection of plants, some hard to find, for this area. Runs a lot of special programs (like introduction to chickens). Looking forward to when reconstruction is finished, following recent tornado damage.
Helpful staff who are always busy helping customers and asking questions. If knowledgeable staff is key for your gardening needs this is a great place.I can always count on them to have the correct plants on hand at the right time of year for planting in North Dallas.
North Haven Gardens has great employees and huge inventory. I drove from Denton, & will do it again. I looked all over Denton & online for Bush Germander no one carried it or would order it for me. North Haven Gardens did! They were very organized and I picked them up less than a week after I first contacted themThey carry plants not available in Denton. A great experience. Thanks to all!
Great plant selection and an excellent and knowledgeable team. I have a very weird area of my garden that is half fun sun and half full shade side-by-side and their team helped me with plants that thrive and look great together. The classes are wonderful and the garden coach, Kay, is an expert.
Large selection. People who work there know what theyre talking about. During the holidays, theyve got the best selection of Christmas trees. Also huge selection of bird feeders, fountains, etc. Theyre probably more expensive than your big box store nursery but the product is better here.
We were looking to buy some hard to find things in town and this place has it all! They have all kinds of things for your veggie garden including some really hard to find items like certain tomato varieties, and purple sweet potatoes and purple potatoes(for planting). They also had the 3 fertilizers that we use for tomatoes and other night shades that we have trouble finding other places.I really love their climate controlled room that has orchids, air plants and all other things to plant them in!Classes! They offer education and have a special room. It makes me feel good to shop somewhere that has the community at heart.Their staff was extremely knowledgeable and VERY helpful!
North Haven Gardens located at 7700 North Haven Road off of Royal Lane and St. Michaels is more than a garden center. It is a garden center, art gallery and cafe. They offer classes and events pertaining to Home & Lifestyle and Hobbies & Special Inerests. Classes include planting for sun, shade, air plants and succulents, painting workshops, water gardening, pottery and urban chicken ranching. They have 5 spaces that can be rented for special events. They offer garden coaching and consultation both in store and at your home. The gallery has different artists works on display, usually for a couple of months, so you have plenty of time to go by and view it. While youre there you might as well make a reservation at the cafe and enjoy one of their healthy and delicious offerings. Im partial to the fresh, green salads.
A real treasure for DFW. If I ever move away, this is one of the places Ill miss. They have truly knowledgeable staff plus cool programs like garden coaching where you pay a very modest fee and get some help troubleshooting problem areas in your garden. A great selection of plants and garden accessories is a given, and they offer a ton of classes, many (most?) of which are free. Also, the art gallery is a real draw for lovers of nature-inspired art and the cafe is stellar...cozy, charming, and wonderful food. I could literally spend an entire day here! Its as a much a community as it is a garden center.
After almost 40 years of gardening, I can say that North Haven is by far the best you can find in Dallas. If there is something exceedingly rare that you are looking for, you can usually find it there. More than anything else I appreciate the staff. Every single employee I have ever asked for help with a problem or various tips, was able to help me and was more than happy to take all the time I needed to help me out.
They have been the area green house for many decades and ha e a great selection and varieties of products from dirt fertilizer and tools they ha e flowers and trees and a complete collection of vegetables. My personal opinion is that they are a little more expensive than others but its a local family business not a box store.
Absolutely the best garden center in Dallas. Huge selection of plants for every garden need and taste, supplies and chemicals, including organics Have been a customer since the 70s. They are always giving back to the community by hosting garden club meetings, sales and shows, and free classes open to the public.
I love it here. I have gone for a couple of years. The staff has always been knowledgeable and helpful and they have all of the organic herbs, fruits and vegetables that I am looking for. I am grateful for the time they take to answer questions - no matter how many I have! :)
Free basic composting class review...as I know nothing about gardnering I found out that North Haven has lots of free gardnering class..wound up taking the free composting class and I must say it was definitely well worth it..even though its about 70 minutes long there was alot of good information and a actually demonstration. Will definitely be back as its very interesting.
Dallass favorite garden center since the 1950s. I got some great guys on heirloom and hybrid tomato plants. They get a good variety.Debra found poppies and impatiens that looked very healthy. Also, some cool silvery begonias, and some unique coleus plants,We had lunch in the cafe. Debra had the Farmhouse grilled cheese which has avacodo, tomatos, and bacon.I had a soup and sandwich combo. Then, I went to a meeting of the Dallas Garden Club, and saw a very cool presentation about a front yard Victory garden and three years of its progress as both a garden and in public opinion.
If it has roots, a stem and leaves, North Haven knows about it. And unlike others, they wont sell things that cant grow in the Dallas environment. Try their specialty classes. Youll learn more that you think you knew. Weve done everything from tomatoes to Chinese tea. Fun fun.
Im very saddened by my experience with North Haven. I have been there several times and their staff is wonderful and their plants are great, but the management stinks. Their marketing director is not knowledgable and provides incorrect information and the general manager is no help either. I have spent several hundreds of dollars there just in a few months and they have treated me like a 3rd rate customer, ignoring my request and blocking me from asking questions on Facebook. I will never again go back!
Love this place but expensive. Many of their fertilizer and soil can be found of equal quality at HD or online. bUT their plant selection is beyond compare. Even calloways cant hang with northhaven. When I want quality I go here. When I want filler I go to HD.Lovely selection of fairy garden. Stuff although it does wax and wane throughout the year. Summer seems to be better for it.
NHG is one of my favorite nurseries. They offer free and paid classes. Their staff is super knowledgeable about both their products and the nuances or vegetable and flower gardening. My only issue with NHG are their prices. I know when I got there it will always be a super spendy adventure...
This should be one of the best stores in town yet I repeatedly have bad experiences there. I have often gotten inaccurate answers to my questions, I will call and ask if something is in stock only to find out it’s not (and wasn’t) Some of their employees have been rude and seem to forget that their salary is based on your purchases. I’ve had them refuse to honor their own discount programs. Their return policy is very questionable. If you ask for a manager both the employee and the manager act offended. I could go on and on. They have some good products in their store – they just act like prima donnas and forget that we are the customers. Shopping at a garden center should be fun – they make it a pain.
There are several great things about NHG. 1st The staff t-shirts are color coded. The some of their team hold advanced degrees in this sort of thjng. Its great as it allows us see at a glance how to ask the right questions to the right people. Theyve helped me identify plants from a garden by images on my phone as well as help me pin down the most likely issues with my own garden.2nd huge selection! Tree areas, perenials, biannuals, annuals. All organized bypart sun full sun. They also have seperate enclosed area for mainly indoor plants. Theres an area for native texan plants too. But I found it easy to see how it was organized.3rd they are dog friendly 🐶🐺 friendly leashed pets welcome. My dog has a lovelly time with new sensory smells. And the staff have concistently been warm to herThere are things I would change about it but theres no pleasing everyone 🏵️ overall i am glad to have such a nursery nearby🍂🌾🌼
Lots to see and do at this landmark garden center. They have a cafe, classrooms, monthly chicken sales (thats the cluck cluck kind, not salad kind), Im addition to a large assortment of native plants and trees. The organic frozen strawberry popsicles are the bomb! Check this out.
Was looking for a 6-8 foot Japanese Maple. Shopped a couple of nurseries including NHG. Best price including delivery and planting was at NHG. Immaculate Design performed the delivery and planting for NHG and did a fantastic job. Mathew and his team were on time and took considerable care in planting the tree. Am extremely satisfied with the entire process.
I went to eat between 12:30 - 1:00 PM. December 5, 2016 and was parked out front of Northaven Gardens. The food and service were good. My car was hit in the parking lot while inside and there were no cameras covering the parking area.It would have been a pleasant experience if my car was not hit. It would be nice if Northaven Garden had a security camera, then at least I could have had a chance to identify the irresponsible person that hit my Lexus 350 outside. My suggestion would be for NHG to invest in a security camera to help customers in cases like this one. I hope there is one good Samaritan that saw the incident and may come forward to report it.

2022-05-13We went to the Ralph & Rose Cafe and it was delicious! Decorated so cute, very friendly staff and the turf area with games was a hit for the kids! Beautiful nursery selection as well, though that wasn’t our purpose today it definitely set a gorgeous scenery!

2022-03-27I have been here twice. Both times everyone on staff was friendly and the plants looked beautiful, so thats the positives. The negatives are that prices are pretty steep. I paid them without complaint the first time because I trusted things were better quality than elsewhere. I had a few iffy ones when I transplanted them but chalked it up to chance. Today I bought a $50!!! rose plant which I was totally not expecting price-wise. I kept debating on whether or not to get it because I drove 40 minutes out there specifically for roses. I couldnt afford my plan once I saw the price so I was going to just not get any, but at the last second I decided to go with just one of them. I brought it home and planted it only an hour later and the roots were so tiny that the soil ball completely came to pieces when removing it from the pot. This bush needed to grow a lot more before it was ready to unpot. Any time this happens, there are pieces of the roots that tear in the soil that falls apart and it is always a gamble of how much damage you did. The roots were only maybe 3-4 inches long on what I was able to get in the ground so I dont have very high hopes. I really expected to have a flawless transplant at that price and now Im so mad at myself for buying it.

2022-06-02Wonderful place with a great deal of variety in plants. Its hard to come by indoor plants that are high quality and unique, but this place does have a lot of aroids that you just cant find anywhere else. I love just strolling through their green house and also looking at the native plants as well.

2022-06-07North Haven is my go to for local expertise. The staff is very knowledgeable, and willing to answer customer questions. I learn something every time I go. This is not you average big box garden center. These folks know their stuff.

2021-07-01I love North Haven Gardens, and especially the greenhouse. They remodeled due to a tornado and its really nice. They have cute pots and interesting plants! They also include information about the plant you are about to buy for new plant parents and how to care for them. Very knowledgeable and they had a fun spider at the time we went and my son loved it. Will definitely be back as is weve gone a few times already.Update: I don’t know if prices went up or they were always expensive, but it’s a tas pricey if you like the saying “more money, better quality” (I’m not exactly sure it’s better quality but definitely pretty)

2021-05-10I look forward to every visit to North Haven Gardens. They have everything you need for a beautiful garden whether youre growing flowers, vegetables or a great lawn. The staff is exceptional and incredibly knowledgeable. They also have a great blog and pre-covid they had great gardening classes.

2022-02-14Best nursery in dfw area. They cater to all aspects of gardening, and Im always excited to see what unique food plants they have that others dont. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable (without being snobbs about it like some other nurseries). Hannah helped me with a refund issue and absolutely made my whole week. I will continue to shop here and supply my plant addiction as a result.

2021-03-07It was a sad day when this incredible place was hit by the tornadoes....but like the Phoenix rising from the ashes...look at it now! Better and more fabulous than ever! Staff is super friendly and as knowledgeable as ever. And they arent even done yet. Definitely the go to in Dallas 🤠

2021-05-01I came in with absolutely no knowledge of plants or what I needed. The gentleman that helped me looked at the pictures of my patio I had took and helped me get what I needed and gave me some super good info on plants!

2022-03-11Thank you for hosting Dallas Bonsai! Wonderful nursery… @dallasbonsaisociety
