Waited in line for 15 minutes behind two other people, with four people behind me. Customer in front of me asked the cashier to ask for help, because she was having trouble with her current customers order and she finally did. When the help came, the customer in front of me said “I’m trying to give you guys my money”The cashier that came to help said, he was busy taking care of the floor. The customer in front of me asked, which was more important, the paying customer or the floor. The cashier, with a smirk on his face, said the floor was more important. In front of five customers that had been waiting over 15 minutes in line to be helped.Terrible customer service. I’ll never be going back.
My first experience at Northern Tool was today during the winter storm here in north Texas to buy a generator. The way the store manager handled the 100+ people in line for hours was amazing. This store manager along with his team is top notch. The entire experience was a breath of fresh air. I can’t comment on quality of generator but as far as quality of people, it doesn’t get any better. Texas at its finest here
I purchase from Northern Tool on a regular basis. I ordered a Milwaukee grinder which wasnt in stock in the store on July 8th. They said it would be available for pick up sometime between July 15th and July 26th. After waiting to be notified, I went in to the store on August 4th to check on it. They said it wasnt available yet but I went and looked, and they actually had one available for sale in stock?!! The manager told me that mine had to come from some other inventory source or location and that they would notify me of its arrival. So I bought the one they had in stock because I needed it. Here it is, August 31st and I havent heard a word! Oh and by the way, I had to pay for it up front, so Im out the money and still dont have the grinder. And not one word from the store manager or any other employee. Crickets.......P.S. I gave it two stars because I have had some good experiences at this store with employees and managers through the years. I think Northern Tool just needs to update some of their policies and procedures.
I find it hard to leave this place without finding something extra than intended and up on the register. Main reason for visit included locating heli-coil or similar product: no go. Have another project involving motorizing a mountain bike and found the build-it-yourself go-kart isle is gone unfortunately. However the Stihl chainsaw 170 would make a wonderful powerplant!!! Any thoughts? Pluses short list includes built in clutch, reliable, 30.1cc turned 1.7bhp, both sides feature LOUD, a few minuses to consider are lower fuel economy compared to a four stroke, vibration, and 2 cycle oil.
I called looking for a generator and spoke to David. They didn’t have the one I wanted. He was with a customer but said that he’d call me back and check with the warehouse. He did check with the warehouse and called me back to inform me about the product availability. He said that he’d call back if his store gets it in stock. He was friendly, didn’t rush me off the phone and thanked me for shopping with them. He’s a great ambassador for Northern Tool & Equipment! If anyone goes into the Bedford store, ask for David and he’ll take care of you.
The store location was convenient for me for an online order pickup. The cashier was not very friendly.I went to the outside loading area to pickup my order. One of the items had, in my opinion, had enough damage to the box I asked for a different item with an undamaged box. I was told to return the item if I found damage when I opened the box. I finally demanded the item with an undamaged box. I left with an item in an undamaged box. I was satisfied.I guess the employees were having a bad day. This is typically not what I have experienced at this store.
This place is kinda like Tractor Supply but with a wider selection. They have a good array of standard (and more obscure) hand tools, tool bags, pressure washers and almost anything you could need whether youre living urban, suburban or rural. The staff was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to find.
Im extremely disappointed in Northern Tool service department and management at the Bedford, Tx. location. I dropped off a piece of equipment for their service department. After paying $40 for them to look at it just to tell me the obvious what I had told them was the problem. They said they had to order parts for it, and I was told it shouldnt take long to fix once the parts came in. I was also told they would call me back with a total price for repairs and about when it would be ready. A couple of weeks went by, and I never got any calls or updates. After trying to call a few times and got the run around by some employees, I finally just went down to the store to get answers. I was told the service guy had quit and parts were ordered, and they were going to get another service guy from a nearby store to finish work that was unfinished including mine. One of the managers told me it would be ready by the following Friday. Well guess what, it wasnt and nobody could explain to me what was going on. I let them know of my disappointment, and picked up my equipment that sat untouched for a month. I lost money in my business with that equipment sitting at their service dept.as I left it! Poor customer service!
Customer service was off the charts and incomparable to similar stores! I visited the Bedford store in search of a pressure washer I wanted to buy for my husband. I had no clue on what I was needing or looking for. An employee named David greeted me shortly after entering the store and led me to where the pressure washers were. He asked what I thought my husbands applications for the unit might be and thoroughly explained the differences in features and prices. After making a decision on one, he explained what accessories would be needed and also offered an extended warranty which I thought was a good idea for the long term. He made the whole shopping experience enjoyable and painless. I will always return to this store for my future needs and Ill be asking for David when I do.
After buying 2 inverter generators , one started giving us problems. Both were used at the same time parallel. Their mechanic “ fixed” the problems this one had. Or so we thought, ended up taking it back to the store more than 5 times. They don’t keep track of the repairs and the guy who did the repairs one day walked put and never came back while my generator was still being repaired. Got a call it was ready. 2 monts later the generator caught fire exactly the part they “ fixed”. Northern Tools and the Manufacturer ,Powerhouse ,both refused to fixed the situation, they both choose to blame the customer who spend more that 7k with them. How does a generator stop working after your technician fixes it and then it’s not covered because there is no papertrail or notes on your part. Horrible service, no accountability and the only thing they can do for me is offer a discount on a 3k generator they damaged.
I dont recommend shopping here or working here. The store manager and assistant manager, behind closed doors / private conversation, they are mean and nasty. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional. They expect you to do everything perfectly after personally insulting you then threatening you. Just general dishonesty, disrespectful, unpleasant. Not recommended in any way.
So far i have had a excellent shopping experience with Northern Tool even when i ordered a garage heater that i ordered and was defective the resolution department handled it quickly and i returned to my local store and had a refund within 24hours great place to shop online and at the stores. 👍👍👍
First time coming here and I was impressed with the selection of tools and the amount of on sale items throughout the store. However I waited in line while employees just walked and talked around the front end. I decided to return the items to their shelves and walk out. I will be checking out other locations because I found some awesome deals.
Ive been here before, so I knew better than to expect anything. The only reason I went, was to purchase a lite weight folding hand cart. Well, they did not let me down. I was invisible, apparently so were other customers (very few). I fail to see the difficulty in addressing a customer, who you depend on for your paycheck. How hard is it to say Hi, how are you, may I help you? When you see a customer looking at a specific item, ask them what they need and help them make a choice. Dont they realize the more they show that customer that they know that person could have shopped elsewhere; but chose them? Grateful? Apparently not. But, on this trip a bright moment. The cashier. Very nice, greeted me at check out. SHE made the trip worthwhile.
Terrible experience paired with abhorrent customer service. Purchased $700+ piece of equipment online, paid $19 for home delivery and they shipped it to the wrong address 40 miles away! After 4+ hours of phone calls, both corporate & management at this location refused to take responsibility. Now, a pallet of equipment sits in an elderly persons driveway, violating HOA and incurring penalties — all due to a mistake by Northern Tool. Downright shameful by any standard.
Called Northern to get a new carb put on my lawnmower. I got Thomas in service and he said to bring it in and he would order the part and it would be about a week to get part in fix and get it back to me so I agreed and dropped it off. 2 days go by the phone rings and it’s Thomas. Mower ready for pick up !!! Unbelievable !!! Thomas is all pro !!! Great on the phone and he wasn’t there on Saturday when I picked it up so I couldn’t thank him for his service and professionalism and excellent customer service. BIG SHOUT OUT TO THOMAS IN SERVICE !!!My name is Nathan Myers and I approve this message !!!
Employees are NOT knowledgeable or helpful about their inventory. There are much better places to shop for similar merchandise than wasting your money here. Also, they will block any negative reviews on their products on their website! This should be a warning as to the type of business they are.
Bought an rechargeable sprayer cart online as they dont stock this item in their stores. Took awhile to get it and then got it home and found out the battery was bad. Wasnt a NT brand, but a 3rd party tool. Didnt want to hassle with waiting for another battery to be shipped from manufacturer so I returned it. Mason (sales rep) helped me out, thoroughly explaining the return process (it has to go back to warehouse as it was online purchase). I choose to purchase a different item and Mason even price matched the lower online price. Mason is truly a rock star and was more than helpful...great customer service. Love this store too, they have a great inventory and lots of good values.
Generally speaking I like NT and would give them more stars but this particular NT had a serious lack of people that know anything about their products. The majority are retail clerks with no other life experience. Bottom line, they cant help you beyond reading the product description.
Had an employee call from the Denton store to confirm that they had a product in stock, only to show up and be told nope dont have any and havent had any (thanks Denton store). Well we we told this once we could pull the manager away from the computer and the baseball conversation he was having with the employees. Then he called us liars when we told him we had the Denton store call and confirm they had stock, Mike Q. the manager in question might be the rudest retail worker Ive ever encountered.
I visit this home store quite often but sometime when I visit Jenna E. The cashier never smile and actually I notice she change her attitude with other customers therefore I may start to visit more Home Depot to where they make feel welcome regardless if it will cost me few more dollars any tools but Ill have a good expirience.Thank you
Brought a pressure washer that went defective after one use and when returned staff seemed surprised and somewhat hesitant to take it back. Manager seemed to think it was me overservicing the engine oil that caused the pump to stop producing pressure. Engine and pump use 2 separate oil reservoirs....one gas nothing to do with the next. Engine oil was serviced in accordance with the manual. Man even broke out the manual to show me how wrong I was.....or rather how wrong he was. Still said it was way overserviced. All I wanted to hear was sorry we wasted your time....heres your money back. Unbelievable.
One of the worst NT stores when it comes to customer service. Bypass this one and go on to the next NT. Manager had an issue looking up a SKU for me so I could get a price. Pawned me off to some nitwit while said manager finished his personal cell phone call ON THE CLOCK..
Poor customer service. I waited for 30 minutes for someone to help me find what I was looking for. They kept saying someone would help me but no one ever came. All I saw was people standing around and walking back and forth. But no one helped me!!Terrible customer service.

2022-06-12Nfortunately the north Star soft wash machine I purchased from you guys doesn’t work. First the original pump didn’t work and the replacement pump worked with one batch and on the second batch it stopped working. Now I have a full 13 gallon batch mix wasted and stuck in your North Star tank. I don’t have a separate container to put it in. And it’s a diluted mix which useless now. And after both pumps failed you said you would overnight a third pump but that was a lie. Tracking says 6 day delivery! You guys are a joke! Please refund me. Thank you!

2022-01-21Purchased online a set of line wrenches. It was missing the two most common sizes 10mm 12mm. I returned them in late Nov 2021. As of Jan 20, 2022 no refund has been received. I have been to the store twice and they assured me I would see the refund in a day or two. Called the stoer today and again no one knew what to do. Someone is to call me after 2 pm Friday.

2022-01-05Ordered an engine for a machine on 10/15/21 and was told it would be in mid December - Today is 1/5/22 and we had to call them only to find out the order had been canceled. The order was canceled but NO ONE notified us nor did they refund the $914 back to my credit card. I was told I had to call the customer service line to find out why it was canceled and to get an RMA# in order for me to get my money back. REALLY?!!! How did that become my responsibility to get YOU YOUR RMA#? TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! PLEASE GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!

2016-10-15Northern has a good selection of items that are hard to find elsewhere. Their prices are reasonable, so you should always check their website because sometimes its different than what you find in the store and they will match it.

2021-12-16I wish I could give this store ZERO stars but clearly thats not an option. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We purchased a chainsaw for over $400 this morning & attempted to return it today and were told their mechanic needs to look at it. SERIOUSLY!!?? We wanted to exchange it for a chainsaw from the SAME BRAND and were told since we had put gas in it, their mechanic had to fix it. How would you ever know if it worked without putting gas in it!? Now, we paid over $400 for something their mechanic is going to fix?? I dont think so. The manager, Lisa, was UNBELIEVABLY rude & disrespectful. We will be going back in the morning to deal with THE store manager to see what they plan on doing. Im not sure how it is considered adequate to sell such an expensive piece of equipment that cannot be returned the same day it was purchased and have someone fix it. In addition, there is ZERO notice given of this policy until AFTER the purchase is made. Unacceptable!!

2021-07-14I visited the Bedford Northern Tool recently and was very impressed from the time I entered the building. The store was very clean and well stocked and perfectly arranged. I was just going to run in to find a power washer but wasnt sure what I exactly needed. As soon as I entered the store one of the salesmen came right up, introduced himself and asked how he could help me. His name was David and he stayed with me and explained the power washers he thought I might be interested in. His help was greatly appreciated because when I got home and got started it was everything he said it would be. I was going to go for a less expensive one but happy I didnt because I definitely needed the power of this one. I highly recommend this store and definitely ask for David if he is there. He is a great asset to this store.
