Baseball program is completely unorganized. This is our second year of trying to put my son in the program. The first year he was told to be on one team. He did 1 practice and then the following week moved him to a team that had no coach. My husband had to step up to coach. The end of the year they lost his participation trophy. This year the orientation and start of the season got delayed. Waste of money. Good luck trying to get ahold of anyone who is responsible for organizing the season.
Variety of times/types of group X classes and my awesome Personal Trainer, Jessica Thompson. I like the family-oriented atmosphere and that it’s not so overwhelming when you walk in. I love that James always calls out my nickname when I walk through the sliding doors like I’m the most famous person in the gym. I look forward to coming to workout.
I really love this location- the front desk staff are always positive, smiling and inviting. The Y warrior classes with Marci and Laney are incredibly empowering as are their spirits and instruction. Madelyn in childcare who also does some kids class instruction is amazing and has just the right balance of energy, positivity and keeping little ones engaged and following directions. The people are why we keep coming back and I wish I could name everyone who has made us smile and feel welcomed as a family when we visit. The facility may not be able to compete with the ritzy gyms but we find ourselves here the most.
Called today for information on swim lessons and summer camp, I was completely disappointed that the young gal that answered knew nothing and kept referring me to their website, which I had already visited before even calling. Poor customer service in my opinion, not even sure why pay staff to answer phones if they cant answer any questions and just refer you to the website.Im also turned off by the fact that there is not an option to register in person as the website forces you to accept automatic billing and Im not interested in doing that for one summer camp week. Also, you cant even do group swim lessons unless you form your own group with friends and family. This location is right by my house but now I feel compelled to find a different location for swim lessons and summer camp, very unfortunate.
Such a fun, family friendly atmosphere with activities for all stages of life (kids, teens, adults, seniors). Welcoming and engaging staff who WANT to get to know you and your family. Enthusiastic instructors and trainers who are committed to you becoming not just physically strong but mentally strong. Everyone at the Y genuinely cares about you!!!
Weve recently joined up as well as the child care is great (in the child care section). That said, outside the childcare walls, there are a number of kids climbing and playing on the equipment. Theyre not doing anything other than getting in the way and most are unsupervised. Its annoying having to wait for a treadmill so that 6 year old can screw around on it just to push buttons. The main locker room doors are also really dangerous! They open outward to the main walking strip and Ive already hit some people opening the door (yes I opened it slowly). Why wouldnt they make these swing INWARD to not interfere with the main path? OR put a window on the outside door so that you can see people before opening the door? OR better yet, there are 2 doors to get into the locker room.. just remove the outside one... Furthermore, there are never any towels and most people dont seem to wipe down the equipment afterward. While my wife enjoys the classes, Im not impressed.
My daughter went to swim lessons every year since she was four and had gotten great instructors each time. This year it was different. She had class at 9am with one instructor to six kids. I complained to the manager on this and didnt get anywhere. Needless to say we wont be going back which is sad because its only minutes from our house.
I recently joined this YMCA. The location and equipment is fine but the 5 stars goes to the personal trainer I hired named Dan-ette! She did an excellent job training and getting me into shape. I was recommended to her and she exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend using her for personal training needs.
A completely filthy area. I bought a membership for YMCA but after going and seeing the place, I decided it wasnt worth it. After canceling the membership I did NOT recieve a refund as promised on the website. ( The website said they will happily refund the unused portion of the membership) the also charge me again the month after even though I cancelled my membership already. I did NOT get a refund for that either. What a joke of a amusement center!
Youth baseball program was HORRIBLE. My son played in 8U coach pitch. Scores were not kept properly, our team had 3 wins that were not reported because the scorer responsible was a parent on the other team and I guess didnt wanna report a loss for their team. There was also a team that had obviously played together a while, probably a select team, comprised of kids that were TOWERING over some of our kids. They had to be 10 or 11. Easy to say that I will never bring my child to play here again.
Class schedule is abysmal. There is only 1 class at 7:30 in the evenings, and very few classes on the weekends. It didnt make sense to continue if I could only make a class or two a month so I went in today to cancel my membership, which they make you do in person. Huge inconvenience and completely unnecessary except it gives them the opportunity for a hard sell to get you to stay. I was told that if I had come in the day before I would have made the 30 day cutoff and wouldnt be charged for July. Well I work so I couldnt go the day before. So now Im going to get charged again in July for something I wont use. Oh but they said my membership is valid until August 15....useless. Not sure what the purpose of a 30 day cancellation notice is except to bilk more money from members. Its not like theres a waiting list to join. Also their website mentions dues being pro-rated and refunds issued for unused portions but that apparently isnt the case.
The youth sports program here is a JOKE! Last fall my son did tball and went the entire season without a coach! Each parent had to be out there coaching their own kid the whole time, and nobody was notified about team pictures ahead of time so half the team wasnt there for them.We decide to give the Y another chance and my 11 year old son is doing 7on7 football now. First of all, I never heard anything from the coach before the season started about when practices would start, so I had to call the Y and have them tell the coach to email me. A few days later I finally get an email saying their first practice is today at 6pm. The email came in at 6:05pm. So my son missed his first practice because the coach didnt have my email address for some reason. Then his 2nd practice was weathered out. So when we arrived for his first game, we didnt even know who the coach was nor had my son been given the opportunity to practice with his actual team. Whats more, when we arrive, they tell me they gave his jersey to a kid that registered late (despite us having registered my son months ago) and give my son a jersey that doesnt match his teammates and says Coach on the back and fits him like a dress. I was told his would be in by the next game. At the next game I asked his coach about it and he said oh I dont know nothin bout no jersey, he can just play in what hes in and no one from the Y was there to talk to about it. Speaking of the coach, the coach told everyone to be there 2:30 for a 3pm game, but the coach didnt get there until 3:01! And with no text or notice that he was running late. Then the practice following that game was cancelled altogether due to the coachs own personal schedule. Were not even going to bother finishing the season. This is such a waste of time and lies on the Ys sports director.
Ive never been to a gym where the patrons are so inconsiderate. Nobody wipes the equipment after use. I have spoken to the staff many times about it, and they do nothing. Patrons will hog equipment for excessive time while looking at their phone instead of moving on. Terrible gym.
Have reported monitor at one of the upright bikes as malfunctioning three times. Nothing done. Turns off like clockwork between 7 and 8 minutes and has to be turned back on and reset. Very irritating when watching something like sports or news. Despite the printed sign, there is no coffee after noon. When asked we were told they dont make any after that time.
Youth Sports staff does not respond to concerns about their programs rules not being followed. I have emails that were ignored (but thanks to out of office notifications I know were received) going now on over a month. Also when confronted can not point out anything in their procedures that says what they are claiming verbally. In my opinion they tend to only play by the rules they feel like when they feel like it and make them up and enforce ones that dont exist in their written rules as they please.

2022-06-15Done with the YMCA after 12 years. Ive been a volunteer coach for several seasons. Weve had at least one of our kids in a sport with the YMCA for the past 12 years. They finally got basketball back this past winter. No playoffs for the older teams and almost every game we played had just one ref. No spring season. Was told Summer basketball would start in July. Now I see from the website that the next season wont be until December. No update from anyone at the YMCA. They easily could have sent out an email to at least the previous coaches so that we could have had our returning players go elsewhere instead of waiting around for a season that wasnt going to happen. This place is going down hill and the person in charge of organizing the sports seems he couldnt care less.

2022-06-15My daughter was being discriminated with her teammates and with this parent coach. I do know the different. I had explained to my child that it wasnt the reflection of her. It was them on how they acted and, how theyre raising their kids being prejudice. They didnt want to do team pictures with her. My daughter had always played for the YMCA and havent experienced prejudice. They didnt interact with her she was being suppressed. I did had addressed this problem with the staff one lady had forwarded my complaint to A J Mccleod. He is black also, but she was still being treated unfairly with prejudiced teammates. Just because hes a black director dont mean you would still experiences it, Yes it did still happen to her.My daughter is well behaved that makes good grades at school. He never contacted me back to be placed on another team. Or to see other options.I had talked with this young girl Brooklyn (staff)on site, that day my child had went to practice, that we had left because the girls didnt wanted to practice with her. She was a staff on site that day when this occurred.I had also talked with multiple staff members. If something like this was happening. To see on how policies on being racially profiling. Her volleyball team was under the name Coach Micah Barboza, team name was the Stingray. At the very last game,he was making eye contact to the other racist parents mocking the other black coach from the other team, the way she was talking. This man was actually making fun of the other black coach from the other team. I did had mentioned it to one of the worker who was keeping up with the score at the game. I can just imagine what he was doing or saying behind our back. If he did that to the other coach from that team.We had left due to that unprofessional parent coach. He was very mean and rude.I am still puzzle and surprised that a staff didnt come out to see observation if this was happening to a player. This situation was handled unprofessional with racist tolerance. I do understand that people dont have to talk to you even the parents was prejudice. They all communicated with each other not with me. It was very uncomfortable being on a team like that. This place cant be trustworthy. It supposed to be a place for your child to grow with others. I didnt have no other choice. Because I didnt wanted to waste money. My child had tried her best on her own most likely. She did hit maybe 4 hits over the net. I know for a fact that they have kids wouldnt want them to be treated unfairly. Mostly they kept their distance from us because we was black. We was the only blacks on that team. Overall,my daughter have been playing with the facility for many years with many diversity coaches and head coaches.Never experienced nothing like this before. They also made sure that all teammates played together at practice not by themselves and to get along with each other as a team.Just be aware that they are not going to help you or your child if a crisis happens.

2022-06-16Helpful and friendly staff, clean facility and great classes to choose from.Absolutely LOVE the Silver Sneakers classes! Im kicking myself for not getting involved in them sooner since Ive had my membership at the YMCA for some time now. The instructors are engaging and the classes while gentle are very effective.

2022-05-12Youth baseball has been an unorganized mess. You get no information. No practice days, noone to speak to regarding questions or concerns. Would not recommend.

2022-01-11Had a great time at youth wrestling tonight. Coach was great. I wonder if they need two on duty at once with such a full class but it was wonderful. The rest of the facility is nice and the staff is friendly.

2021-10-05Did free swimming lessons for water safety here. Instructors were great. Only got a few classes for about 40 minutes each, but for free so it was great. Thanks YMCA for water safety class. My child knows more about what she can do to stay safe.

2021-06-30My 3 year old recently completed a two week swim class at Northpark. Although weather presented some challenges, I was happy with the classes and instructors. The lessons were reasonably priced and had several options for times. I would recommend them to others and will probably do additional lessons for my son next year.

2022-05-14Been a member for years. Why are the hours so poor in weekends when everyone is off work. Till 4pm in Saturday?? Unacceptable.
