The after care was horrible after the surgery. There was no food. It was nearly 24 hours before I had anything to eat. I had asked for fruit and water and it took nearly an hour to recieve these items by then it was to late for food. When I was up in the room after surgery no sandbag was placed on me to help with the incision healing. I was up there for 3 hours when I had put my close on the incision had opened up causing me to spend an extra 3 hours there. The second time around a sand bag was placed. When I had the procedure done across the street at the heart hospital a sand bad was placed pressure was applied and there were no problems. After wards ai was told to do 3 things I had felt the incision area was getting worse. I was told to go back to two diffrent places at the heart hospital then was redirected to go the er and have it reevaluated for a possible infection. For the discharge papers almost nothing was explained I had to call the nurse at the other heart clinic to get clarification on after care and proper drugs to take. Abosulitly a horrible experience with a lack of professionalism and communication.
Went in on Memorial Day, I Only went here because this is the hospital in my network. Was yelled at by ER Clerk. ER Clerk was also arguing with another patient in the lobby. Went back NP came in and said its anxiety and to go home before the nurse even came in to do her triage. Nurses at what looked like the nurses station were looking at the list of patients and mocking peoples reason for going, even said Oh My God Look whos here again, and then would touch their noses and say Nose Goes. I will just stick with BSA and pay Tier 3 (Out of Network)
Tower A 5th floor;Extremely rude. Traveling nurses dont care about the patient. Horrible bedside manners. Physically cause harm to patients after major surgery. Does not change bed sheets. nurses dont know how to administer medication correctly for certain situations. If you care about yourself and or your family members do not take them to North West hospital.
Great staff, friendly, carrying, knowledgeable, prompt, concerned nurses, dietary, maintenance, teaches, from the floor to the proceedure room. Upper management followed up and wanted for my opinion. In these trying times I had supplies for my needs. Big thumbs up. Thank you for making my stay very comfortable. Sorry for my complaints as the meds of the proceedure wore off.
I came in with a problem trying to breath, and the inability to walk like a normal person, and they only looked at my high blood pressure. Which proved to be ok, other than the values. I am giving 2 stars because I understood how busy things where there, and how hard it was to deal with everything (I had a 7 hour wait)I would have given 1 star but I felt sympathy because of the stress and confusion they where under.
Dr. Poage and the entire staff at Northwests Townsquare ER were excellent from start to finish. They walked me through a very tense and unknown outcome with compassion and trust in their skill. I am thankful that Melissa Tremmier at Northwests Urgent Care sent me directly to the ER and worked closely with Dr. Poage. She even called the next day to check on me. Dr. Poage worked seamlessly with radiology at Northwest to get testing done next day. 👏 Every interaction whether at Urgent Care, Townsquare ER, or diagnostic imaging at Northwest was beyond excellent. Thank you all!
My nurse Joey showed no regard for my pain. She was callous and incompetent. The er nurse Michael before her was so much better. I continue to dislike NW for so many reasons and the last visit really solidified my already poor feelings for them. Go to BSA instead. Your life may depend on it!
My father was transferred and admitted to Northwest Texas emergency room on May 13th due to having an acute stroke. He was not treated by the hospital or assigned physician for the stroke for 48 hours. He was kept in the emercency room for over 24 hours and restrained to a hospital gurney for hours due to his decreasing mental status. When diagnostic test foe stroke finally done my father had suffered a severe stroke. He was dicharged into hospice care and died within 4 weeks. I reached out to a patient advocate with this issue still waiting to hear back. Unsure of how Northwest Texas Hospital can call themsrlvrs a truma center.
Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo is a Level III Trauma facility and is the only trauma center in the Panhandle of Texas. My son was in a serious UTV accident and was flown in from Clayton NM. As soon as he arrived they were waiting for him in the ER, and within minutes he was in emergency surgery. After the surgery he was in ICU, and then in a regular room. Altogether he was at Northwest for three long weeks. Everyone that we dealt with including the trauma surgeons, nurses, techs, wound care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, housekeepers, and food service were all very professional. The care my son received was outstanding and we are very thankful that everyone was so dedicated to helping him get well and recover.
Maegan is amazing at what she does. My daughter has been going to have since she was about 5 months old. We had a little break after she graduated from physical therapy. She is now 3 and back with Maegan. My daughter absolutely loves her and can’t wait for her appointment! I would recommend Maegan 100% she is the best!
Recently went in and had a Covid swab done. The nurse at the front, older lady was very rude, and unequivocally non compassionate towards anyone who seeked medical attention. Passing judgement and telling people “you don’t come to the ER for everything”.I do have to need to say though when others were around , only then was she attentive, compassionate to the patient. Dr. Babb gave me my results stating I was negative and I could go. My mother was there with me and stated 2x “we can go?” He said yes, no discharge papers, to sign or state why we were there. I had a high temp and was groggy. I myself didn’t question when he stated we could go. Not until I got home I received a text saying I could access my records through their portal. So I did, and when reading my results,I did have Covid! I called back and asked to verify and the lady in the ER she then verified as well. 2 days later My employer needed a return to work release paper, so I called and they said you can come up to the ER and we will print out a new one. Well guess who the nurse was? Yep! the same lady, when I asked for the note she stated “ you should’ve gotten all that when you left” she did not look up my file nor verify who I was, just hand printed a note, might I add with the wrong dates stating when I could return to work. I don’t know why both the nurse and doctor behaved this way, and I don’t wish to make assumptions. I do however know I have never in my life received any type of treatment from medical professionals like this. I pray these 2 have better days.
I was very upset with the care i received. I went in with chest pain and shortness of breath and the doctor completely dismissed me. Made me feel like I was crazy for coming in. Acted like he had 0 time for me and barely even gave me an exam. I had been sick for an entire week and had been to three doctors before that with no relief. Covid, flu, strep negative. Then he tried to mansplain to me why I tested negative for all 3. Don’t recommend if you want the doctors to take you seriously.
So the place is packed. And I get that with Covid and all. I also understand the fact that all these people are coming in here and you get overwhelmed. It costs nothing to be nice. But the intake nurse was absolutely awful. We came in with a possibly broken hip. And we’re told well it’s gonna be a long time. It’s not like we can just go home and hope it gets better. Just pure rudeness and negative attitude from the staff. We actually need a hospital in Amarillo that cares.
My daughter was in the hospital for 5 days. Admitted through ER to a floor. Everyone that I came in contact with from the ER personal to the nurses, food service and housekeeping on the floor were very polite, kind and helpful. Hope to never have to visit here again but if I do I know I will feel welcomed.
I literally had a RN , place an uncovered thermometer in my mouth on Saturday January 22nd 2022. She even explained that its okay , I havent used it on anyone else . Sorry what ?? No maam . Fresh outta surgery/ pain /meds to have this happen. I notified the floor charge nurse and the hospital supervisor. ( STATED no body on that floor was covid positive !) Umm no maybe not , but MRSA? Monday, Tuesday and yes even Wednesday came and went without anything from any one . It took her 15-30 seconds to go get those covers . ( Ill be following up this week on what they did) . I had a floor tech flat out lie about trying to get me up for a shower, ( stated I came in 3 times you were asleep the 2-3rd time I picked picked at you ) . I look straight at her and called her a liar , seriously! This is beyond WRONG . All I wanted was help getting clean . Two wonderful nurses YES sad to say both were traveling one from Florida the other from Houston.Staff wear perfume like its a coat . Not taking into consideration the patient might be sensitive to smell. Overall honestly my PAID FOR STAY was less than a one star . Endangering my welfare for a few seconds . Im very disappointed that I have to reach out to the hospital concerning what happened , instead of them reaching out to me.Dont go if you dont absolutely have to . Thats my opinion.
I am writing to thank the awesome nurses who gave fabulous service to my Husband from January 7-11, 2022. We arrived to the Northwest Texas Emergency Room at 3:30 p.m. on January 7, 2022 and were back to prep for surgery by 4:45 p.m. The staff and Nurses who took care of him in the ER were great. Dr. Yohey Hashimoto performed appendix surgery on at 6:15 p.m. that evening and finished approximately two hours and 40 minutes later. He was in recovery about 45 minutes and moved to the fifth floor, Room 562 on Friday night. Again, the Nurses were fantastic! He encountered a bit of AFIB due to surgery and anesthesia on Saturday morning, so he was moved to the ICU-Surgical, Room 219. We cannot say enough about the “Rock Star” Nurses (Maggie, Carla, Jennifer and Michelle) who deeply love their patients and go out of their way to ensure the patients’ health and well-being! How blessed we were to actually witness these fabulous Nurses in action! After two nights in the ICU-Surgical, January 8-9, 2022, he was moved to the fourth floor, Room 464 on Monday morning. And again, the Nurses were fantastic! He spent one night in Room 464 and was able to check out on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. We are extremely grateful for the superior care given to him during his four-night stay at Northwest Texas Hospital. We will definitely shout out our recommendation!
Everyone was so very nice, starting at the door where they take your temperature. My first time being treated at this hospital, it was a wonderful experience! Thank you to all in the Endoscopy Department, you all were so nice. God Bless and a very Merry Christmas and New Year!
Everyone there were excellent and made me feel like they really cared about my health issues. The service was great and expeditious. They took extra good care of me and made me feel as if I was the only one there. I really appreciate having this facility in my neighborhood. Late hours are hard to find medical assistance as the minor emergency/urgent cares are closed early. So, this facility helps me not to go to hospital emergency & take a chance of being exposed to many other health issues.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. My mother in law is 48 and has stage 4 stomach cancer and she went into Northwest for stomach pain. Dr. Nazim said that she had a perforated bowel and told her she needed to go on hospice when we thought the cancer was going away according to her last CT scans at her Oncology office in Plano, Tx. Dr. Nazim was extremely rude and dismissive to my mother in law and our family in the room saying “do you even speak English?”She had to travel 6 hours to Dallas and turns out, she doesn’t in fact have a perforated bowel and doesn’t need hospice. Nothing really has changed with her CT scans. This doctor played with people’s lives. Our whole family were losing our minds because we thought our mom, sister, aunt, and granddaughter was on her death bed. This experience was traumatic when it really didn’t need to be and because of the Dr’s incompetent assumptions, someone’s life was messed with. We will not be returning and will be reporting to whomever it concerns.
21 years ago my kids were born at this hospital. They were two pounds a piece. Amarillos first quintuplets. They have the best nicu in the country. All the nurses and the doctors were fabulous. I learned so much from them. We had to spend three months in the nicu before they were at the right weight to take home. There 21 today. There big sister is 23 and also born at this hospital.
Staff was respectful & friendly. Asked for coffee, Nurse told me she would be back shortly they do not have a coffee maker & would have to go elsewhere to get me coffee. I told her how disappointed I was with NW not furnishing the unit with a coffee maker & to forget the coffee.
The hospital its not worth going to for help. If you need to get on what they call financial need or direct clinc if you are white forget about. They will have you get things you cant get but if your not white you better belive you will get on with problem. Me I go to BSA
I walked in & was taken straight to a bed. Which was great. Wait time was about what I anticipated it would be. I needed a wheelchair to go to the bathroom, I hurt my ankle. The bathroom door was not wide enough for the wheelchair so I had to hop on my good leg to the Toilet. Left on crutches and the door to leave is not automatic. The person with me had gone to pull the car up. The Dr. was very nice. I would have liked to have gotten pain medicine faster. When the Dr came in you could tell she was hustling trying to get to everyone.
This place is awful. First of all, the front staff was extremely rude. They used the percussion method on my girlfriends back and abdomen and basically punched her. She litteraly went forward. The wait in the er room is ridiculous. I have currently been wait 2 hours with nothing being done to my girlfriend that is in an extreme amount of pain. This place is dirty with holes in the walls every few feet. If it werent for the nurses who are walking around complaing about the other patients, I would say this place was abandoned.
The only good things was the nurses and respiratory therapist the doctor I had was horrible didnt even treat my asthma totally treated something different and a month later I am still having problems with my asthma. I went to bsa emergency room and got better treatment and the right meds to treat my asthma and went in at 6am got out at 8am. Its 8:30 pm and feel a whole lot better that I did leaving North West. The doctor treated me like I was waisting his time. The rest of the staff were great.
My brother went to er on Georgia was transferred to hospital in liver and kidney failure had transplant went into resp distress put on vent. When vent was removed someone from the billing dept went to his room to inform that as of mon his part of the bill is 400.00.he is just off vent cont to be in liver and kidney failure what is up with cant wait for family why cause him more stress about the bill.somsthing needs to be done about this where is common sense do you want your pts to get better never had this happen at bsa I would not sense anyone to your hospital. I have been a nurse since 1984 and have never heard of this before you need to update training.i just hope this does not stress him to badly .I will continue to monitor and I do not want any more Vista from your money hungry staff.no common sense found at this time. And yes Im mad you have put his health in Ina very serious state.wish you could make responding easier do you really want to contact us Pat kimbro. 825 s Maryland Amarillo TX 79106 send me a phone number
Got in to a room in mind and took an hour before I saw a doctor than 1 and half hours to get some tests done and 20 mins for them to send me home. There was 1 doctor working and 7 nurses there. 2 other patients than me dont know what happened but it was really bad experience. Almost $1000 to sit and wait to get help. Watch out that this dont happen to u. Ive never been anywhere that makes u pay $1000 for 10 mins doctor visit. Thats right I got to see a doctor for 10 mins other than that I had to wait for almost 3 hours just to be ripped off. I can understand if they ran alot of test but they didnt they just want money from u. So be Safe.
The medical staff at NWTH Emergency center on Georgia is hands down the best medical professionals Ive ever dealt with. Im VERY picky about the medical professionals I let care for myself and my children. Ive been there twice and they are always very prompt on getting you seen right away. Very thorough and friendly and personable. My nurse and doctor were very genuine about my specific needs and made me feel comfortable. The doctor gave a very detailed explanation to my illness and told me exactly what he was doing to treat it. Honestly I dont care for doctors; however, since going here, this is now the only place I will go for medical care unless refered otherwise by them. Thank yall SO MUCH!
I’m not a frequent flyer at this hospital, I usually go to the adjacent BSA hospital, but needs must and it wasn’t a bad experience. Personally I prefer BSA but everything and everyone here was pleasant and helpful. The building is definitely not as well presented as its neighbor but it is well kept and clean.
Came in by ambulance to an extremely busy ER. After getting put into a room it was extremely quick that the Dr came by. He was concise, attentive, and listened thoroughly. He quickly ordered me some meds for pain relief. No long tedious wait. The doctor was really amazing. The nurse was also super attentive and personable. Couldn’t have asked for a better team.
It was the very best experience Ive had in a hospital. My procedure went on as scheduled even though I was a little late. The nurses were so considerate of my concerns and put me so much at ease, the anesthesiologist told me exactly what to expect. Everything went as explained and my doctor was so reassuring that I had no worries at all. The whole experience from signing in at the front desk to leaving the hospital was totally the very best experience Ive had in a hospital. Thank you so much and may God bless you all.
A nightmare, first an mri that was blurred, the doctor wants another mri with contrast, almost $2000 deductible, plus the amount of radiologists, plus another $2000 more deductible plus what the insurance paid, plus doctors appointments.First of all, it is the responsibility of the hospital to the first mri, because they didn’t do it right, secondly while I explain my complain calmly , the customer service assistant argues with me. They didnt solve anything and I have to spend double money for no reason.NEVER AGAIN $$$$$$NO VAYAN A ESE HOSPITAL, ES MUY CARO.
This was my 3rd surgery on my wrist I was so nervous. The ladies were so sweet. One nurse stood out to me and my husband. Her name is Bailey. She came in and offered a prayer, this made my husband and I both feel more calm. When I went into the operating room Bailey held my hand while they did a nerve block and when they gave me the general anesthesia. I dont remember seeing her again, so I couldnt thank her but she made this surgery more pleasant than anyone. I would recommend Northwest Surgery Center to anyone these people have the best bedside manners Ive ever experienced.
I can not RAVE enough about NWTH L&D!!!We had the best experience there. Not just myself, but also my husband. I have to give a big shout out to these main doctor/nurses:Dr. Chastain, phenomenal!Nurse Brynn, Shanon, and Lactation Nurse Amanda they all three went out of there way for me and my new baby! We were absolutely blessed to have them there with us. I couldn’t have been in better hands. With all that being said, ALL the nurses that took care of us were great!! Not one negative thing I could say about their staff or my stay. Thank you for taking care of my family.
Erin, Matt, Dr. Byrt and your nurse practitioner that were on staff Sunday afternoon were absolutely amazing. I would especially like to recognize Erin, she went above and beyond to make sure I was okay after the visit and that my medications were taken care of. You are blessed to have such a caring team.
Am very disappointed in my last visit to your emergency dept. Did not see a doctor nor a NP. Although it says I saw an NP. I was given the diagnosis of Cellulitis which even I know is a catch all category. Got antibiotics in oral and topical. The reaction I had continued for several days. My feet are still shedding the skin that was burnt. And am having various swelling and red skin in different areas on my body. Waited so long as usual in the emergency dept. And feel they did not look to see what the problem was. No blood was drawn nor any other diagnostic procedure. My regular doctor got me in to check for blood flow problems since my toes were black and I am diabetic. Wish I had gone to immediate care instead. Also Bejan Danesfar was very at home at the nurses station and wearing blue scrubs as if he came out of surgery. He said So your back again? Since hair and face were covered, I did not recognize him and am glad I didnt!. Got out from his bizarre practice at beginning of last year. The Texas Medical board wants a letter he wrote and forged my name and initials on. I have mixed feelings since my Father always said never poke a rattle snake. When you read negative reports on Danesfar believe them. Wish I had given more importance to them. I feel like he was looking thru my file by what he said. If that is the case, I will be one angry old lady! Please put a note in my file that nothing about me is to be given to him. Your Resident Physicians are Top Notch. However, Danesfar had to sue the university to get an anesthesia license. Most surgeries are done in his operating theater in the same building he sees patients. Jane B.
I went into the Northwest Texas Surgery center and Dr. Crossnoe replaced my left knee. The services and care that I received was first rate. Anything that I needed was provided very quickly and with a smile. I spent one night after my surgery, and all of the nursing staff was great, especially Jill. Thank you all for helping me through a tough time.
I was there for an Echo last week. The person who did it was very informative about what she was going to do. She was very courteous and new her job very well. She answered any questions I asked her and seemed to be very thorough. I have been to N.W. Hospital several times and have always been treated with respect and have had good results for healing.
Don’t go here if you don’t have insurance! They will falsely diagnose you if your ill and are questioning the status of your health. I have all signs of kidney damage from foam in my urine along with dark color and odor plus pain where my kidneys are which I explained. They ran blood work and urine sample and said I had no issues. My life insurance says otherwise when signing up prior to this visit. After getting blood work and urine samples tested they said I had over the amount of protein in my urine prior to going to northwest Texas health. Northwest Texas health down played my situation or just didn’t have to know how to handle my situation despite the facility equipment and resources they had to accommodate me but yet failed to properly handle my situation in the manner that it should have been taken. Their dr and nurses assured it was just regular back pain from lifting and pulling when I never told them I did any of that and that they’ll just give me pain medicine although I took that prior to my visit. What a waste of time. They acted as if I’m lying about my situation and as if I don’t know what I’m going through despite my broad arguments to articulate and emphasize on the matter of MY situation. Stay away!
My hubby has been admitted to NWTH many many times because of his heart issues. Every time has been so scary for us. But the staff in the ER, Heart Hospital, CCU and Regular floors have been so very sweet, professional and AMAZING! My husband has received the best care ever since 2017. Its hard to mention a specific situation as an example of their wonderful care. ..theres just too many to mention! Thank you a million times over training your employees the right way to care for people like us. ❤️God bless you all❤️Jay and Maria Akridge
NW pediatric Outpatient therapy has been an absolute delight the last few years. My son has loved every single speech therapist and occupational therapist he has had to cross paths with. Every single one of these girls are sweet as can be and have helped so much! Madison, Delaney, and Rebecca and all the other ones! So very glad we chose to come here for speech therapy.
Great service!!! NP CM was super kind and a fountain of information! went there after a bad car wreck. Just wish NWTX Hospital didnt use a third party billing company its like pulling teeth to get the ER and Physicians bill. Other than that Thanks for the great care!!! Wouldnt imagine going anywhere else.
Incredible service and incredible nurses! The experience I had when having my second child was second to none. I was made to feel like a priority and mine and my infants needs were exceedingly met. I would highly recommend Northwest Texas Hospital for anyone having a baby.
I had appendicitis but didnt know it when I got to the ER with intense pain and the ER doctor did a number of tests and found out what it was, and within 10 hrs I had surgery and they saved my life. I had no insurance but they did what was needed to save my life. I spent 5 days recovering in the hospital and the nursing staff was very good over all I am thankful to them for their help. This hospital has great staff who are well trained.
I was admitted to have surgery done on my left lung. The nurses on the 4th floor c tower treated great!! These nurses were very caring and respectful of my condition. Thank you to Randa, Anna,Kathleen, Vanessa, Kelsei , and the rest of the nurses. It is hard for me to remember everyone. The food was great! Not at all like hospital food.Thank you!!
Just because you are a patient battling Mental Illness does not mean that you should be treated as if you dont matter. Mental Illness is just as real as Diabetes, Hypertension, etc....and it should be treated with as much respect as someone battling other illnesses, even though its invisible to the naked eye. The nurses were nice, caring and respectful during my stay except one short dark haired nurse working on the 5th floor. I understand the battle with COVID, and my heart goes out to those battling it now; however, you cannot expect a person who has battled with Anxiety all their life to stay in a room and not even walk to the door when you refuse to give them their meds, even with the charge nurse, security and all saying otherwise. The Stigma Needs To End!!! WE ALL MATTER!!!
I was seen in good time, not long waiting. I was assessed and given medical care that stopped the pain. I was given exams that checked more in detail. I was given instructions to improve my medication treatment at home. I was a bit better after the visit until I have surgery,
My son is having a cleft lip repair in Lubbock, but they sent us to northwest Texas hospital to do a pre Covid test. From the time I walked in to the time I left the staff was not willing to help and had a terrible attitude all together. I am so glad I only had to get a Covid test bc I cannot imagine them taking care of me or my son. I really hope leadership does something to get their staff together. Not a good look at all.
I was there with my husband. We were on fourth floor and I do want to comment your wonderful staff. Nurses were helpful and kind. The people who cleaned were great. The fourth floor was an excellent experience. The emergency room people seemed to be understaffed as experience not so good but was not fault of the few nurses working there.Altogether I would recommend your hospital as the place to go. Beth Hodges
Very professional staff and team. No wait time. Checked in at 7:30 am got right in from checking in from start to put in to exam room to nurse dr to payment lady Rozy. Couldn’t ask for nicer ppl and great nurse and great looking dr who did a good job at stitching me up. Thank you guys.
Dr Pablo Diaz and Dr Jan Warner did an excellent job. The care and attention they gave me every day was excellent. The nursing staff was very attentive, I would like to recognize my Nurse in the morning Vanessa A and evening nurse Kathy they where both Excellent! I always got the 110% care from them both. I rate NWTH a 5 stars.
Im so impressed with the staff at Northwest Texas Hospital. My dad broke his hip and was shipped there. No matter who I talked to or how many members of my family called, everyone was patient, kind and helpful. I work at a hospital too so I know how the stress builds quickly. So THANK YOU to Dr. Sessions, Leslie in Social Services, the OR staff, the ER staff, Surgical unit, PT staff, Housekeeping, Supply services and Food services! Special shout to Zimmer/Biomet rep, Carla! Thank you all for making everything go so smooth! Stay safe and continue the excellent work!
Zero stars!!! I went to the ER on 4/27/21 the RNs on duty that day were rude and unwelcoming. The waiting room was full and in the 2 hours I was there they had only called back 2 people. I asked the RNs twice if they could tell me how many people were ahead of me and was told they werent able to do that, which is an u right lie because I have worked in the ER and I know how to tell someone where they are based on priority. I walked out and went to BSA were I was seen immediately by friendly nurses. Never going back
Ive been making payments on a 9000.00 bill and they still sent it to collections without my knowledge I was still making payments my bill never went down and I asked them about it and still never told me it went to collections. The visit was for a headache that wouldnt go away. I wouldnt send anyone here if they were dying
This is possibly the worst place I’ve ever worked as a nurse. Patti Thompson CNO has single handedly ruined nursing for NW. it’s a shame how many amazing nurses this place has lost because of the lack of responsibility from administration. This place was tolerable until Patti came. I don’t recommend this place to ANYONE for work or for care.
The facilities were great, up to date and clean. The surgical staff was friendly and professional throughout my procedure. The nursing staff that attended me after the procedure was phenomenal in every way. The only reason I dont give a fifth star was the lady checking me in. She made a simple procedure long and difficult. I already had a great deal of anxiety to start with, she managed to increase anxiety a great deal.
Check-in went great. Well taken care of. During my prep for surgery everyone was nice and took good care of me. After surgery the nurses on the day shift were great. Always checking on me, giving me my meds on time, answering my questions, very friendly and helpful. During the night was in a lot of pain and had to call nurse station twice to get medication. Took 50 min before anyone came by. Then my next round a meds were late. The nurse did mention that she wouldnt come in and wake me for meds, I would have to ask but knowing my pain I would think there would be more attention paid. The next day when the day nurses came back on they were great. The nurses taking my vitals were wonderful. The gentleman who took me to x-ray was very friendly and enjoyable. The food was really good and liked how you can call in your order. The staff delivered promptly and were friendly. My overall stay was wonderful.
I was cared for immediately at the ER then had the most professional angiogram two days later! !they strove to get my kidney numbers much better before releasing me!I found all uses and techs to be very professional and compassionate! If I had to, I would go back any time I was visiting Amarillo!!Brendan Duff
We just delivered our baby here on July 16, 2020. The nurses and team of doctors are amazing at this hospital. The hospital rooms are much more ideal for a new little family to recover in, extremely comfortable and roomy for mom, dad and baby! We will definitely use this hospital again!
This place and these people save lives. My stay at the North West Heart Hospital was during a tough time.EVERYONE was top notch, courteous, knowledgeable, heart felt and caring. 110%.My Husband and I wish to thank everyone, seen and unseen, in EVERY job. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you ALL. We love you all and we wish you all the very best! What an inspiring experience.
Today was an upper endoscopy and I was greeted with utmost courtesy and kindness by desk staff. Nursing staff was stellar as well. I didn’t want for anything. Warm blankets, the offers of “can I get you anything else?” I love Northwest Texas Hospital. Explanations of procedures were thorough and thought out and explained in a manner I could grasp. Of course my doctor is by far the best I have ever had. In conclusion, I trust NWTH with my care 150%. I am ALWAYS treated with dignity and care in addition to the great personalities of everyone.
I had upper back pains with elevated heart rate and went to the emergency room at Northwest. I was seen within minutes, EKGs, etc! Their team was ON TOP of it! I never expected to stay the night, but they were very thorough! Cat Scans, Stress tests you name it, and everyone was very sweet and explained what to expect. I was happy to find out I hadnt had a heart attack and only needed a few pills to guarantee my health. I would recommend them if you ever feel like you are in emergency.
I I scheduled for a procedure and I had a charge nurse who is unable to find a vein to start my IV. She continued to stick me and Stick me and Stick me. I should became frustrated she decided to put her hair up in a ponytail remove my shoes and go to for my ankles. Wish you went back to work on my feet I asked you to please change her gloves she removed her gloves to him in the trash and walked out of the room. I asked the nurse who was sitting with me doing my chart checking me in to please not send her back into my room that I did not want her and if she came in I would leave and not get the procedure . Other than that experience everyone was wonderful.
Went in there with leg pain and chest pain turns out my DVT in my right leg is worse and my chest pain apparently is nothing the doctor walked in handed me my discharge papers said I was fine and then I can see my way out without dealing with my initial complaint I said ok even had to unhook my self from the monitors n if it wasnt for a nurse walking by I would have to take my own iv out
DONT!! I REPEAT DO NOT COME HERE! My poor mom had to be flown here & all the nurses & doctors she had were completely rude! So unhappy with this hospital! Something NEEDS to be done with the staff here! Also Dr.Bassit got in my moms face just because she needed the bathroom!!!!!
I had an amazing experience with Northwest Texas from the time I pre registered until the minute I left. The kindness and generous care I received was such a breath of fresh air during these difficult times. Everyone was so professional and caring and I will never hesitate to choose Northwest as my hospital of choice!
The FED on hillside and soncy might be the most disorganized and incompetent medical facility I have ever been to. I know my review will illicit a canned apology in order to save face, but apologies after the fact are not what should be accepted in the medical industry. Do better NWTH.
I only have experienced the labor and delivery as well as the postpartum departments in this hospital. The staff is exceptionally amazing!!! My nurse throughout labor and delivery was so kind and patient and caring. Postrecovery, the nurses were on top of everything they always kept my cup filled and made sure that I had enough to eat and helped encourage me to walk and gain my strength back. The nurses were super sweet and cheerful.... like a breath of fresh air. I had such an amazing experience there and I do not want to go anywhere else ! It was very clean and well kept. Even walking down the hallways people would acknowledge me. I definitely give these departments 5+ star rating. The doctors there are also very kind along with their nurses.
Candice Mitchell in the Labor and delivery section was absolutely amazing, whatever yall are paying her, she needs a raise on top of that because her service is beyond wonderful. People like her are what make the world go around, she is a very profesional lady and she truly cares about others and thats what i love!!! thank you!!!
Nurses were sweet but just to check in and brought to the back was 1500 dollars I racked up a 10000 dollar bill just for them to tell me I might be indigestion (went in for chest pains) I believe the need to work with people more on the prices. When I first went in while I was hurting the first thing that was said was can I pay money today. Its all about who can pay and who cant that depends on your level of care. I have insurance but when they found out they would only pay for some the service changed.
The personnel were very personable and excellent at their jobs. They made me feel like I was the only patient there and were determined to help me feel better. The entire facility was very clean and welcoming. I felt I got the best service ever. Im a volunteer at Northwest Texas Hospital and feel it is the best place to be.
If I could give this hospital a rating of 0 I would. Nurses and doctors REFUSED to give a black woman help after the doctor(s) was told of the pain she was feeling. Absolutely disgusting. Those sorry excuses for doctors and nurses deserve to face consequences for this racial discrimination. Action needs to be taken on your part. The patients name was Ashley. Treat your patients with equality. Disgusting.
I had a terrible experience at the emergency room. The nurses and doctor I had were lazy and rude and didnt seem to care about me much. The doctor talked to me for literally 2 min before he was out the door never to be seen again. I waited 5 hours and ended up leaving. Also hit the nurse call button and waited 45 min for a response.
The entire staff including nurses, Doctors and all others assisting in my surgery were extremely professional and personal by treating me like I might be their own mother. The nursing staff procured a cot for my husband so that he could stay with me throughout my time in the hospital. Our thanks to the entire staff.
I was treated with respect and your service was done on a professional and prompt time frame. I am a former RN with 41 years of work behind me and was super pleased with my care. The only thing that would have been a little more help was if a small sample of medication could have been given to me to get started on because I could not fill until monday due to a contract with my pain doctor, however I filled early Monday and my eyes are already feeling better. Thank you. Susan Gill
I went in with a foot injury. I explained my ankle did not hurt my foot did. X-rays came back and were supposedly clear. I followed up with my primary care doctor as instructed to be referred to an ortho and the X-rays done in the office showed breaks. I went 4 days with an unset foot. My pain pills were sent to the wrong pharmacy despite the doctor repeating my pharmacy back to me. The pharmacy they sent it to was across town and ALREADY CLOSED when they received it. Due to it being a narcotic I could not pick it up from my pharmacy and went over 15 hours without pain medicine with what turns out to be a broken foot. Seriously considering hiring an attorney.
Northwest Texas Healthcare is one of the worst hospitals I have ever been to , I have diabetes and was in fear of insulin overdose and falling into a coma and the Drs didnt care they laid me down and I old me to lay down incase I do fall in to a coma then they worked as slow as they could and talking about how they dont like three job , . I was sent a bill and Im not going to pay it because next time Ill just go into a coma where I feel safe if I wake up or not I dont care ,
Refused to take proper care of a black woman who was in obvious pain, and instead laughed in her face. Took no proper actions and when she requested the doctor look into what could possibly wrong by looking at her stomach he instead got infuriated and denied her request. They then eventually sent her home knowing they did no good for her and she was still in an excruciating amount of pain. This hospitals staff of nurses and doctors are completely unprofessional and unhelpful. You guys will be outed and everyone will see the harm you’ve done.
Pretty good care. My nurse was even understanding when I was confused and yelled at her While I was on morphine. It was 9:00 at night I thought it was 9:00 in the morning and they had left me all night without the blood clotting boots. Both male and femal yelling down the Hall instead of walking down Was only complain . Dont know Who it was
The staff at NWTH emergency room were quick and so Kind in caring for my mom! They got the testing done quickly and we were out of the ER as quickly as they could but still receiving excellent care! Thank you to the doctor and nurses at the ER! You made a scary moment go smooth and calming!
This is the worst hospital I have ever been in. Complaints were made to administration and the patient advocate. I received a letter in March that they were investigating my case and they would send a letter within 21 days. It is now June and I have not received a letter or phone call. Not one person seems to care about nurses assaulting me and abandoning me.
Horrible experience. Blood sugar wasn’t checked even though I’m diabetic, didn’t do bloodwork or anything despite the issues I was having and tachycardia was happening. Told it was a uti and nothing more. Didn’t get iv fluids, pain meds nothing but a $300 prescription for antibiotics. I left in more pain then I came in with and told to please please come back if your not better.
Got taken back very quick the Dr was very knowledgeable and I liked him. However he just took my blood, said I didnt not have a leak as my GP suspected. He didnt ask about my other symptoms. Then refused to treat me for anything said to follow up with my GP, made me wait in the room for an hour in horrible pain then basically kicked me out. I will not be back to this facility, this is exactly why I go to the freestanding ERs. They treat you better!
Went to minor emergency today with chest pains and left are pain and had pain. They were concerned with EKG looking different from a previous EKG 2 years prior. They took labs twice and EKG to double check. Was then sent by ambulance to northwest hospital and a group of student dr said EKG looked normal and last minor clinic hooked up leads wrong and caused bad EKG. They asked me what meds I take when I said anxiety medicine they were quick to tell me I had a panic attack and were admitting me for observation from having a panic attack. So its obvious someone dont know what there doing and dont believe its the minor ER clinic since they consulted with Dr at hospital before I was transported. I dont have insurance and cant afford a over night stay for observation due to them blaming another clinic for not connecting EKG leads. If you want to live go to BSA.
Everyone treated me with respect and kindness. Thank you so much for the wonderful care. My post op nurse Was so kind and patient as I was in horrible pain. She was so kind and informative I really appreciate everyone especially Dr.Kordistani he is an amazing surgeon. I have always had excellent result and care at NWTHS.Sincerely,Kimberly Maxwell
We were very pleased. The doctor (Dr. Obrock) was professional caring and competent. We were pleased with his interactions and care. The staff from the time we walked in until we left were great. They were attentive, professional and caring. We were kept informed of what to expect throughout the stay. Thank you to all.
This Hospitals ER is a joke if you dont have insurance! Never have I witnessed a complete disregard for a patient once the question of insurance came into play. The nurses were terrible, the Doctor didnt even complete an examination. There were no tests ran, the room wasnt properly cleaned, the attitudes from the staff made it apparent they werent interested in being there. Complete waste of time.. Went in at 3am and 3 and a half hours after being in a room, was discharged with 1 prescription. Wont be going back thats for sure! Terrible experience!
The clinic was clean and pleasant. I was taken back without any wait. In the back I was seen immediately and the staff was thorough and friendly. The doctor was kind and informative. I had to wait over an hour for flu test results but other than that my visit was top notch.
I had my baby there and the nursing staff was great. In labor and delivery I had Hannah and Courtney. Both were amazing and made me feel super comfortable. They were helpful and understood my needs and were patient through my labor pains. In the post labor side I had one great nurse named Liberty. She was so helpful and provided top level care. I gave the hospital overall 4/5 because the food wasnt that great, really it was pretty bad. The rooms you have during and after labor were amazing.
My husband took me to the NWTH ER on Georgia St Tuesday afternoon at about 4:30. I had been suffering from a kidney infection and had gone to my primary doctor earlier that day. I was in a lot of pain still so our doctor advised us to go to the ER for an IV because I was severely dehydrated & for pain meds through an IV as well. We got in right away. The 2 nurses that saw me first were nice. The doctor that came in afterwards was not. She seemed like she didn’t believe what we were telling her & irritated I was even there. She told us they would start an IV, do a CAT scan & get me some pain meds. After sitting there for at least another 45min the 2 nurses came back & put the IV in, drew some blood & gave me some pain meds. Shorty after that I was taken back for my CAT scan. The gentleman that took me was very nice. Then I probably sat there for at least another hour without anyone checking on me or getting an IV started. My husband went out into the hall and asked the doctor if I could get a bag of fluids & she was very rude to him and told him I had already had one. He checked with me and I told him I hadn’t. He went back & told her again that I hadn’t and she said she would check on it. About 15 min later this nurse came back and asked if I had an IV, I said no. I lifted up my sleeve and she saw I had the IV needle in my arm & said “you do have an IV, that’s what I was asking” very rudely. I asked her why she was being so rude to us & she said because we were being rude to her. Granted I’ve been in pain for 3 days, super dehydrated & had been sitting in that uncomfortable ER bed for 3 hours without anything being done, I probably wasn’t the nicest to her. I asked her if my doctor was still there & she said yes and I asked to see her. She went to get her. I told the doctor that the nurse was being very rude & that I just wanted some fluids in me. The said I only needed the fluid to wash out the contrast that was given to me from the CAT scan. Neither the nurse or doctor really cared what I said or how I was feeling. The doctors excuse was that she was sorry I came in on such a busy night. Regardless if it’s busy or not, no one should be that rude to someone. Finally my bag of fluid was started & I almost immediately felt a little better. Another nurse came in to check on me. She was very nice. The doctor came back one last time & said there it director had been there and witnessed the whole thing. Well, I never saw the director & no apologies were given by the director. The doctor apologized again & said she hoped I knew she was being sincere. I will never go back to NWTH & will tell everyone I know not to go to that one on Georgia St especially. The only couple good things I can say about it was that it was clean & the last nurse I had actually seemed like she cared about me.
Not a good experience for my daughter having her first baby. If you are having a baby don’t choose NWTH. I am not hard to please by any means but it was shocking how bad some of these nurses were. Maybe they were short handed and extremely busy who knows. We did have 3 nurses total out of a 5 day stay that were amazing.
I do not recommend going to the Emergency Room. My mother was sent here by her doctor who was highly concerned about her EKG. Her blood was drawn but left in the room, after about an hour I had to go get someone who finally sent it to be tested. She was not checked on. There was also splattered blood all over cabinets that was there prior to us coming in. I had to go find someone to help her with her chest pain. I mentioned the blood, they said they would clean it and never did. We were there for 6+ hours before she was finally seen by a doctor. They only ran blood work, said she was okay to go home. It wasnt until my parents were very upset and wanted the paperwork and copy of ekg that my mother was admitted. And when I say admitted, I mean a bed brought into her ER room. The doctor took on too many patients. The staff seemed to be trying to heard most of them out without following proper protocol.
They could use more helping hands in the x-ray department. The process was slowed because there seems to be only one x-ray room in the ER. Other than that, it was fine. Suggestion I can give is to check on the patients waiting behind the curtain and ensure them that they have not been forgotten.
The people there went the extra mile to make me feel better and they all were nice to my family and were very explanatory about what was happening and what was going to happen. Betty was my first Rn after the surgery and she really went the extra mile and then some to help me feel better she was always so nice and polite no matter what I was really impressed with her but everyone was really great
Refused to take care of a lovely black woman! she was calm when she was scared she was going to lose her life. her name is ashley galloway! take care of her now! there is no reason for the doctors and nurses to be rude to her when she is being very respectful. do not visit this hospital, their level of care is disgusting.
I had a tonsillectomy done here by Dr. Obokhare. She is an excellent doctor, as was her staff. The nurse was very polite, and kind. Everyone took time to explain everything to me, answer any questions I had and made sure I was very comfortable. They got me in earlier than what the surgery was set for, and worked very quickly. After surgery, they made sure I was pain free, and went over everything that was expected during recovery. Im very thankful for Dr. Obokhare and the nurses that were on staff that day. The place was also very clean and organized. Thanks to them, my recovery went very smoothly.
The employees at NWTH emergency center on Hillside were very nice. We went with the intention of getting excellent care like I receive at BSA Urgent Care. But BSA was so busy with patients that I assumed were probably flu patients and because the issue I went for was for a wound to my arm cause by fall I went to NWTH. I explained what I was wanting and needing in regards to this wound however the care I received was unacceptable and not what I reqested. I could have done the same thing at home that NWTH emergency did. I was expecting better care from them. The bandage that was put on my arm didnt stop the bleeding and kept coming off before I drove home off of Bell and Hillside. I hope that this review will help them change their patient care. I realize my reason for the visit was not life threatening but it took me two hours to get some Betadine and gauze placed on my arm. Whereas BSA would have washed out my wound with sterile water first before using Betadine and would have pulled the lose skin back over my wound so it would protect my area of tear. and would have put some stitch tape on my wound. I went home and redressed my wound myself. The doctor seemed caring and even told me that he would bring in the necessary instruments to do what I e requested. When the nurse came in, nothing was done that the doctor said he would do. Someone dropped the ball at this facility. I am diabetic and was needing to get something to eat but after two hours of sitting there I was done with this facility until they get their services better.
The only complaint I have is an MRI was ordered on the day he came into the ER which was on a Wednesday and was not done until Saturday. If they had that information he may not have had as much damage and knew how and what to treat the strokes with sooner. No complaints on staff. All very concerned, caring and kind.
Excellent care. Very safe feeling. I came into the emergency room not truly as a lifesaving measure, more out of fear that something was wrong. I waited no time at all to be seen and testing,e tc. was begun. Every employee I encountered couldnt have been kinder or more professional. Thank you
Every single health worker knew what they were doing and did it in a professional friendly way. The gentleman that did the CTSCAN was so gracious. He knew I was in terrible pain and was very patient and helpful. I was surprised that everyone was so nice and i really appreciate it.
I wish I could give negative stars. Went into the emergency room with an issue with my leg thinking possible blood clot. The triage nurse was very rude and then told us it would be a 7-12 hour wait and that all they would do is give me a referral. We left and went to the emergency clinic on I40 and Western and was seen immediately. Found out that there was definitely a major issue with my leg from my knee. If another emergency happens, we will NEVER go to Northwest. Well drive to Lubbock if necessary
On 10-08-19 my wife drove me to the Er on Georgia st. Nursing staff was attentive and appeared genuinely concerned about my condition. Dr came in quickly also seemingly concerned and began treating me right away.A ct was ordered and the tech questioned her ability to conduct the test because of my iv being in my neck. She learned it was fine and wanted me to be out of bed and into the wheel chair. When I explained I couldn’t move that many times, she made it know to is all she wasn’t happy.Dr then order more pain meds due to me still experiencing so much pain. He also told us he was admitting me for pain control and further evaluation. I agreed and ems was called due to iv and meds. I was also severely nauseated. While being taken by ambulance I was given zofram to help the nausea. At the hospital I was taken to room 522A and assisted to the hospital bed and covered Nurse came in and did a brief look at me and took my vitals. The dr came in soon after looked at my stomach and listened to my lungs. When I explained how much pain I was in he asked the nurse what medication I have been given so far. She told him 8mg of morphine and 200 mcg of fentenyl . I didn’t want any miss information given so I said that wasn’t right I was only given 100mcg of fentenyl. She then replied “ that’s not what our record show” the doctor then walked toward the door and said he wasn’t ordering any more opioids and was thinking of Tylenol. And commented as he left they he disagrees with the other doctors diagnosis. The nurse left after him closing the door as she exited. After some time the bed alarm started going off and no one came to check. I pushed the call button explaining the alarm was going off. the nurse walked in and found the bed alarm had gone off because the lock was set. I again asked the nurse isn’t there anything you can do to help me. Her reply was that she needed to wait on the doctors orders before she can do anything. On leaving she asked if I wanted the room light off. I said it doesn’t matter. She left and closed the door. After a while of being left in this room, in severe pain, no one willing to help me I thought if I called a supervisor they might help. After requesting a supervisor to the room it wasn’t long before my nurse and the supervisor came in and asked if she could help me standing with her armed crossed. I explained my frustration and need for someone to help me. Her reply was the same, the nurse is waiting on the doctors orders to get here. I the asked if I can get pillows or someone to rub my back, something to help. My nurse looked at the supervisor and said, “I’m not rubbing his back” the supervisor then said, “well there you go”. Then both turned and left the room. This time the supervisor asked if I wanted the door closed or open. I told her this time she better close it because I didn’t want others to hear me moan. Not long after the nurse returned asking about home meds and items I brought with me like my wallet, dentures, ect. When I asked her if she planned to leave me in this room and not help me. She said that the dr had said that at 8am I can have my normal home medications. I explain that because of the Er visit I never took my 10pm meds and I couldn’t wait that long. She said I could AMA and go take my home meds now. I agreed that I would be treated better at home than I was being treated here and said I would sign it. She returned with a computer pad and I signed where I was asked to. I was then told that I need to be out within 30 minutes because housekeeping needed to clean it. She refused to help me gather my belonging or call for a ride.I called my wife and she came right way to get me.After gathering my belongings I walked out
My sister and I had to bring our 83yr old dad in to be checked out. From the minute we walk in the staff, nurse and Dr. Poage were awesome. They were so kind and thoughtful to our dad.My sister and I felt at ease because of the course of treatment.Wonderful experience!Thank you! Northwest Texas ER at Hillside and soncy👍👍👍👍
One of my dearest friends in the world has been in the Covid Unit at Northwest Texas Healthcare for nearly two weeks. His care is appalling to say the least. He can’t even get water. He’ll push his call button; sometimes getting a response, sometimes not. He’s only asking for WATER for goodness sakes.... and his lips are dry and cracked. Sometimes they’ll bring him water an hour or so later, sometimes not at all. They don’t keep his room clean, leaving dirty tissues scattered about. This is NOT okay. They bring him cold food and have even forgotten to bring his meal entirely. Somebody in high places needs to get an inspector down there. My friend is fighting for his life in a Covid Unit! Have some compassion, respect and humanity, Northwest Texas Healthcare!! Shame on you. 😡🤢
I usually only have great things to say about NWTH, the nurses in the ICU are amazing and saved my Fiances life two years ago. However, the ER was a different story. He was sent there by ambulance after he had his first seizure ever. All they did was drug him up and send him home. He could hardly walk when they discharged him and was still very very out of it. I feel like if he had insurance he would have gotten better treatment but because he didnt they kicked him out like trash.
I had a hearth cath on Thursday and Dr. Chu put me in for a procedure on Friday. The personal person who checked me in was very nice and understanding. The time for getting me prepped was done by very nice people , explaining it very well to me. I then went to surgery, very interesting to say the least, I was awake all the time, I thought I was getting a stent but tuned out I had a blockage which was in a stent I had. Hearing and listening to the doctor and his helpers made realize how thankful I am for them and the facility we were in. Ballooned and lazered is an awesome experience for this patient! The nurses in my recovery were the very best , the whole experience could not have been better from the heart cath personnel to the NWTH surgical staff from the front desk to my discharge. I thank you for your caring for me ! Jerry Linda Tims. May God Bless You All!
Not returning to the NWTX ER Urgent Care on Georgia st. I really felt that they did not want to care for me. They said I would be seeing a doctor but he was not an actual doctor he was a registered nurse. When the so called doctor came to see me, he didnt even introduce himself & looked at me as if I had done something wrong. It turned out I had a broken pinky with a lot of pain & wasnt even prescribed pain medication for it. What has our health care system become? Awful!
It was the most humiliating experience of my life. It was a TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME. I went there because i needed an MRI per the instructions of my PPO (Dr. Nash). The doctor said no dice to the MRI, and just discharged me out onto the street. I COULD NOT WALK, OR EVEN STAND UP! If it wasnt for my good co-worker who picked me up, I would still be there dying on the street 3 days later.Good luck trying to get any payment out of me. YOU CAN ALL DROP DEAD!
I was pleased with the care I recieved while at the NWTH ER on Soncy & Hillside 8/3/20. Dr. David Was very attentive and helpful as far as suggestions. I have been having trouble breathing for 6-7 months. While I was at the ER they monitored my oxygen level. It was below 90 and alarms went off. They put me on oxygen. And it helped a lot. I no longer felt like I was drowning. The problem is they didnt document my low oxygen level on what it was when I left. Now I cant get placed on oxygen until I can get into my Dr. When I am at a low level and I cant tell the future. Thats incompetence and I pay for it.
I just got sent a nursing and tech team from the hands of God himself! The care was beyond anything I could have asked for! The compassion was beyond just a job for these wonder full people! Thank God for all of you!And God bless your families the way you have mine!!
My husband was admitted on a Saturday morning. I was allowed to stay with him. A Covid test was done and was negative. On Sunday afternoon he was moved to MICU. I was told we could visit him from 9AM to 1:00 each day, but only one person at a time. I went back up Monday at 9AM was told he couldnt have visitors he was on Covid unit. He was tested again on Sunday even though he already had one done. He passed on Tuesday of natural causes. This means family was kept away for no reason. Other than that I had no complaints.
I went to the ER at this hospital out of concern for an infection that got out of hand.Aside from the normal dismal setting of an ER I noticed that they didnt have very thorough forms to fill out. Understandably it is an ER however some places are more on the ball of getting as much information as possible to diagnose someone.During my wait I saw someone who was waiting with a different patient making sure a man who was vomiting a lot had something to vomit in. (there was a fairly large puddle of vomit just before the door walking in.) I also noticed by filling out whatever form they had to fill out I set a trend for everyone else waiting to fill out a paper too. No one seemed to be making sure of this.I saw a man come in, in severe pain that they basically yelled at to wait and was not patient with. However his agony seemed to move the pace in the waiting room. There was commotion about cleaning rooms and finally people started going in to rooms. It seemed very disorganized, thankfully they let the man in agony go before everyone else. There was only maybe 5 people by the time they started letting people through. By then I had been waiting an hour. The doctor I saw hardly looked at me, and walked off. No one was interested in history or why. I asked for blood work, something to be done to get a concrete view of what was going on. Most places this is routine. Most places this is normal, most places understand the importance and usefulness of blood work. A lot can be picked up and understood with a simple battery of tests that could end up being a good reference point in the future. Not this place, not at all. They discharged me so they could escort me out with security.A blood culture would of let me know with more certainty that my infection has not spread into my bloodstream. Ironically I noticed they had a memo on the monitor at the check in station about sepsis, I wonder how many other people they have failed to do proper lab work on are suffering from something they could of avoided had normal tests been run after a visit at this ER.I have seen this attitude before in Doctors, they are the type that routinely kill people. It isnt abnormal in an ER but it is always disheartening to see.My suggestion avoid this place, at least this shift.
I am disgusted by the terrible care I have received. Ive had a nurse tell me I wasnt as important because there were children here. I thought that all patients mattered. Mind you, Im here for heart problems. Ive received disgusting care, Ive been made to feel like my issues dont matter and I dont know that coming to this hospital is in your best health interest. Ive had great times before here, but Im appalled by the nurses here today.
Refused to assist a black women that was in pain after waiting patiently for hours no one helped her. Doctors where very impatient with her telling her that the catscan will give her cancer, the nurses yelled at her, yes they yelled at her for something she cant control. Horrible sevice!
All expectations were surpassed during my stay. Doctors, nurses and staff provided excellent care and support from check in to discharge. It is very apparent that there is the highest level of commitment to get the job done and do it right. I cant say enough about NWTH.
Probably the worst experience of my life!! The staff was insanely rude!! My 2 sisters & I have all been there(different times) & been treated with disrespect. 3 different stories that are to long to put. (Only a few registered NURSES were kind. I respect them & thankful that they helped).. I understand its a hospital & it can be stressful but 3 different people who went came out with the same response, theyre so rude! Unbelievable... #NeverAgain
Northwest Texas Hospital is one of the BEST hospitals in Amarillo with the BEST caring nurses and the BEST DOCTORS in town. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NORTHWEST TEXAS HOSPITAL ! Never have I had a bad experience there. They are always very good to their patients ! Keep up the good work Northwest !💞
Area I was in was for Women Imaging. Staff in this area were helpful, took time to explain everything and why even though this is a yearly exam. Waiting area has different areas to await results that make it more comfortable for patient. The only draw back is parking for the imaging center is hard to find and for some with physical or health issues it is walk to make even thos cart transportation is available, cant always ride because no space to sit or not in the area to get a ride to the front of building or back to your car.
The registration step was very unprofessional I feel like they didnt give me the right services because my insurance was not in network with them, I was there for 2 hours the nurse check on me only for one time my pain was 10 I was crying because my pain and they wasted to give me a hydrocodone 5 mg I told them I take 2 10 mg at home and didnt work I was there for the pain and she was like well that all I can give you, plus i was in this small room if you can call it a room with only a chair and a TV I feel like they were discriminating me because my insurance , very bad experience with them never in my life I will go with them !!!! A and I forgot they want me to pay 250 dollars before my service and after I told then I dont have the money they left me in tha small room for hours with out service I feel like the service was based on my insurance and because I didnt have the money to pay. highly recommended next time go to the BSA hospital.
Its hit or miss. You dont really ever know how youll be treated here. Ive a few times where I had good care and some where I received poor care. Today was a poor day. Saw PA and he was very friendly. Examined me and assured me that even though I thought I may have strep throat that he was sure I didnt. He said it was just pharyngitis and my throat was probably irritated said he was gonna write me a prescription for some magic mouthwash to help clear it up and ease the pain. Well so I wait for it so I can leave and then a doctor comes in and says whats the problem. I explained to him that Id already been seen he just goes well did he do anything for you? I told him he did and was gonna get me a prescription anyway. Well he proceeded to want to examine me anyway and decides he thinks I have strep and am gonna need antibiotics and to give him a just a second. I waited another good 45 minutes and a nurse comes in with the prescription from the first guy I saw. So I explained that I was confused and was seen by two people and given two very different diagnoses. So she makes me wait forever and finally tells me were going with the second doctors diagnosis and gives me the amoxicillin prescription.
I went to the NWTH Emergency Treatment Center on Hillside because I had CGM application device stuck to my belly. It was pretty painful and I had had no luck getting it off on my own. This was a very unique situation and presented a challenge for me. The NWTH ER Physician has never been faced with this situation before, yet he was able to come up with a solution that worked well for me. The facility was clean and well staffed for the number of people who were there.
I have never been so internally humiliated by a professional before in my life. I dont just go to the ER for a good time. Something wasnt right and I expressed that. Explained that. 2 blown veins and 8 hours later I was told that my problems were irrelevant compared to the other cases and that I was fine. They ruled out the real problems and then I was mocked by the Dr for thinking something was wrong in the first place. This may be TMI but if a woman bleeds heavy with large clots, for 6+ weeks, theres something not right. Tubes tied or not, something is off. But hey, they figured out Im not pregnant (obviously) and that I have good blood counts while making me feel like an imbecile for being concerned. Good job. Congratulations.
My brother was on the mental health ward and was disrespected in many ways. His arm band had the incorrect PHI and it was uncorrected, however they did finally give him his medication after 24 plus hours with the wrong information on the arm band. Clearly a HIPAA violation and a compliance issue. He spoke with several of the staff members to no avail. He was Also not given his C-pap to sleep. And his clothing was withheld for 48 hours. When he ask the young tech about his arm band she rudely referred him to another individual and insisted that They put on the band what you told them to. As well as stated that she was not going to allow the patients to get on her nerves today.Working in healthcare I find this to be deplorable. I called and was misdirected and told to call another number not connected. And received a voicemail. I am currently still waiting for a call back.
Shld be -5 with the nurses on 5th floor tower A tonight. Completely incompetent and absolutely no regards to hipaa period. Er today was amazing but pain meds ordered at 8 p.m shld not take till 2:49 a.m. to be dispensed especially since 7 nurses are playing and literally ignoring patient calls and orders. 4/5/19 shift nurses were not up to par what so ever and very disappointed on how they represented such an amazing hospital .
On the road from Missouri to Nevada, I stepped on a nail the day before I left but being the weekend I left on the trip without a visit to my Dr. Received excellent care and assistance from this facility. Departed with two prescriptions for antibiotics and departed on my way to a grand daughters wedding. Thanks for your assistance and care.Tom
The doctors and nurses laugh and yell at you when you tell them youre in pain, refuse to do anything to ease your suffering. Save your time and go somewhere that they will actually help you. This place is a ticking malpractice suit waiting to happen, condisering how blatently rasict they are.
Our first experience ever having an emergency at Northwest. My husband was admitted to the ER then CMICU. Stay in ER was 13 hours, ER is understaffed & short on supplies. Result of severe neck pain from having no pillow for 10 hours. CMICU, one nurse blamed my husband for making her job difficult because of his pain level, financial consultant came in the ICU room to discuss insurance & deposit. Nurses apologizing for the fact he never the saw cardio doctor & resident doctor for 5 minutes a couple of times, meals delivered very late & incorrectly. No instruction on when to take meds upon release with blood pressure still at stroke & heart attack level. I do have to give praise to the two nurses in ICU that did take good care of him and the regular floor nurse who frantically tried to get his bp down the night before his release. To me it felt like once they figured out our insurance wasnt the greatest, his care was rushed to be released. This posted under wrong name. Regretfully posting bad review, Karen Alarcon
My son was misdiagnosed at BSA on Saturday, Monday we came to NWT and the doctor immediately did and ultrasound and CT, which BSA never did, once the Dr saw the CT he had do prepare my son for emergency surgery. The doctors, nurses and entire staff here are great!!! Best hospital
I fell off of a ladder last Friday, came to ER in so much pain! I couldnt stand up straight, barely walk. Dr (horses ass) Boone gave me Tylenol, did x-rays and came back 2 hrs later said nothing broken, go home take Tylenol and ibuprofen. The nurse asked him if he would give me anything for pain ( i.e. muscle relaxers, Tylenol 3) and Dr Boone said absolutely not!I left in worse pain than when I arrived!Dr Boone is AWFUL no bedside manner whatsoever and just a jerk in general!!
I had surgery here Friday and have been staying since. Ive had horrible treatment and service in the past at different places. Northwest doesnt qualify for that bad of a rating. The service here is acceptable. The main issue I have is that RNs here seem to either hate or not care about their jobs or they hate or not care about me. Im not a mean patient at all too! Im one of those that has a high level of respect for those in the profession, and I appreciate all the help received. Everytime a nurse walks in, I try to be cheery and sometimes joke around. They have a hard enough job. I try to make it better every time I see them. But, this staffs attitude leaves me wondering how much of their displeasure is brought on by themselves and their own attitudes! Weirdest thing is that it seems to affect the higher title more than like CNAs and stuff. Tge higher the title, the more they seem to not want to be here! They really do kind of stick to bare minimum with their work and care provided too.You seriously need to figure out what it is these people hate about their jobs, cause yeesh!
Developed severe chest pain while passing through Amarillo while staying at a RV park very early in the morning. Wife called 911, EMTs arrived quickly, transported me to Northwests ER. Received quick and professional treatment for what turned out to be a pulmonary embolism. EVERYONE was professional, attentive and kind. Did have to wait in the ER until a room became available. Staff on Tower A5 South did a great job.
I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of care we have received. My brother was brought in by ambulance with a head injury due to a fall. Have been here over 4 hours and they havent even cleaned his head. They sent him down the hall by himself even though he was disoriented. If I saw someone I would let them know however they could care less!
Horrible experience! Walked in with 2 injured children and the staff did not bother to help us. Receptionist was rude after I told her my 8 yr old could not stand up and said well she has to stand up. She was hurt! My 6 yr old had a gash on her forehead and the other 5 nurses that were sitting behind the counter just sat there! They were too worried about calling security instead of treating hurt children! We walked out and went to BSA where they were treated like real professionals!
I was recently passing through Amarillo when I became ill and was taken to Northwest Hospital. I was treated by competent, professional and caring staff from the E.R, Pre-OP, O.R., and Post-OP. I didnt encounter one person who acted in a negative or unprofessional manner. This hospital staff went above and beyond normal care. I cannot say enough good things about everyone I encountered. A++++ Thanks from Michigan!
My daughter was seen at their clinic at I27 and georgia for flu - like symptoms. We were there for 10 minutes and received a bill for $2,943.00. I later realized BSA has a clinic near the Walgreens at 27th and georgia. Lesson learned. I wont make the nwth mistake again!
They do not have enough Drs to run ER. After 5 hours for a bad migraineand, swollen face. They told me to stop taking a a blood pressure meds I have been on for 2 years. Worst service I have ever seen. Could not get any meds for migraine cause Dr was a P.A. Its sad after all the years they have been open you cant get good service in ER. And wait is still all day or all night long.
As I sit here in the hospital hoping it is my last day, I have to say Im a bit unsatisfied with my stay. Things moved pretty quickly through the ER though. Than I was told I was going to be admitted. The only time I actually saw a Dr. and Im sure his bill will be over 1000. Ive been here 3 days and still dont know whats going on...one nurse guested from what she saw of a test and others say Im probably going home today. My white blood cell count is high still too and they have yet to address it or give me anything to get rid of an infection thats shown up in my blood stream for about three weeks. The food is herendous. Never been in prison but have geard about ut...sounds oretty cimprable some was nit even edible. If I had insurance allowing me to go to BSA I would have!!
If I could rate 0 I would. I highly recommend going to BSA. Atleast at BSA they act like they actually care. Having a family member wait 11 hours to for a room after getting orders admitting them. Then the lack of checking on patients regurlarly while in the E.R. trauma room.
LOTS of chatty nurses in the ER getting an earful about a nurses night out as Im writing this review. patients can still hear your conversations through the curtains...giggling and snorting and complaining, cussing, overheard them talking about patients appearances, things they shouldnt be talking about, lots of personal conversation, rude to patients.will go to BSA next time...come here ONLY if you need a note for work..I wouldnt recommend coming here to be taken care of...
Horrible hospital. Long wait times in the ER, staff that are stressed from bad management with learned indifference to patients. High turnover. No supplies. Executives that care more about stock performance than patients. This isnt a hospital its a privately owned money maker that will cut costs compromising safety to meet the bottom line. High infection rates. Dont go there.
TERRIBLE! do NOT come here if you are in need of medical attention. I was treated awfully & got kicked out into the lobby after explaining multiple times again I do not have anyone at 4 in the morning to take me home. They show NO compassion, NO support & NO help. I went in for a torn LCL & I received nothing more than 1 ibuprofen & a kick out the door.Stay away for your own safety, please!!!
Love the food in the cafeteria everything was nice, and clean there was several options to choose from. The only thing I did not like, and neither did the employees was the hideous picnic table shirts that they have to wear. Thats not okay! But everything else was perfect 😊
This isnt even worth a full star.Very awful staff. God forbid if you dont have insurance during an E.R. trip they will pretty much treat you like a third class citizen. Everyone got treated and I was put in last. Just because I wasnt bleeding or vomiting they over looked what was wrong with me,they pretty much drive you to leave. I guess being a human will never be good enough. Sorry I cant afford insurance. Very un professional of the staff.
Didnt attempt to get my records from tech. Tried to have me go through another MRI plus labs before referring me to a neurosurgeon when I ALREADY HAD A STAT REFERRAL in place. If I had not of refused I would have had to pay the bill myself because my insurance wouldnt cover a second MRI when i already had one. I was in severe pain and left the same way.

2022-01-04Friendly and professional staff greeted my wife and I explained process clearly. It was a stressful situation and yet not life threatening. The check in went well. Several individuals were in the waiting room all wearing masks. They all appeared to have been helped as we were. Our screener was helpful and asked all questions clearly and asked for clarification if needed. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) was just as helpful and confident and competent. My wife did not think her injury needed assistance however, the NP asked the Physician on duty to look at her wound and told her she needed treatment. The registration staff came immediately and got her checked in and ready. Our discharge information was handed by the RN again in a clear and professional manner. We had questions about costs and before we left all was explained and answers clearly stated by the Business staff member. We could not have had a better experience. We left and still have the confidence we had the best treatment we could have received.

2022-04-26Had a wonderful experience from the moment I walked in to the ER, to labor and delivery, to discharge. Every nurse, doctor, and staff member was friendly, helpful and compassionate towards me, my family, and my newborn. It was a great experience and Im thankful for these wonderful people who made everything so easy. It allowed me to enjoy time with my baby.

2022-06-13Although my day surgery had to be re-scheduled, all of the employees that I met at the outpatient surgery center were friendly, helpful and constantly checking to make sure that I was comfortable and that my needs were being met.It has been one month since my first review. My surgery was performed 2 days ago and I can say that I am very pleased with every aspect of my experience. Everyone from the check-in person, the anesthetist and especially my attending nurse, who was there for me following my surgery, made me feel comfortable and relieved any anxiety that I had.Kudos to the whole staff.

2022-04-29All I have to say is the nurses were not helpful towards my loved one who has Cancer in their liver because they told me they pressed the button when you called the nurse and they didnt respond or came back into our room, very irresponsible but they also told me the rooms are nice when they have air conditioning and heating when theyre having a bad time. There are some nice nurses that I met and they are very nice and we have a good chat. My response is neutral because it is bad and good depending how you see it. They were also wrong about my love One who told them, they only lived two years or months but they are still alive. Im still confused about this hospital.

2022-06-15E.R. is WONDERFUL, but do NOT stay!! I was sent upstairs for 3 days and was refused my epilepsy medications, never had an IV, and vomiting was never measured or treated. MAYBE saw a nurse twice in 3 days and that was because my wife called them in. Left after 3rd day-- NOT discharged, LEFT.MY neurologist said it was the Best decision we made in those 3 days.

2022-05-25I was brought it by ambulance from a bad car accident… I had a wound on my head, and forehead. it definitely needed stitches, instead they glued it, didn’t even clean it before they did so. And poured glue all over my hair. They left me for hours with tons of dried blood all over my face.. I had horrible pain in my ribs and could barley breathe, I thought for sure they were broken.. no X-ray was ordered, when it definitely should have been considering I was in a car accident.. I didn’t even talk to the doctor. The doctor did not even come in to look at me at all. I was only seen by a nurse, and the nurse talked to me horrible and didn’t have any care in the world. My results were never explained to me. All that was said was “your fine” and got discharge papers thrown at me. Didn’t even give me anything for the pain considering I had head wounds, a BAD concussion, and a whole bruised body.I went to a different hospital a couple days later after I went home and couldn’t bare the pain anymore, NORTH WEST FAILED ME IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. I am very unhappy with the lack of care this hospital has given me. The worst hospital experience I have EVER had. The staff has no care for human life. Medical negligence!!!!!!

2022-05-13Madison is a great therapist. She explains everything and shows how it is done. Then gives you written instructions so you remember when you get home. I made great improvement the first week. The others in the office that I came in contact with were friendly and helpful.

2022-06-07Since Indeed decided not to post my review, Ill post it here.If you are looking for a job dont work here. I was a covid screener and I was lucky if I got a break. If you want a liar for a management team this is the best place to work. Theyll tell you that they will advise you when something is wrong but that is a complete lie. Dont bother working for this company. You could do better anywhere else. They would place one person on shift to man the door. So you need to use the bathroom forget it. Are you hungry? well, the house sup would come but not without an attitude and contempt. Dont even get me started on the parking. They tried to tell me I was rude, and giving out personal information but that was a complete lie they had no backup for their claim. Nobody ever said I did anything wrong. Do yourself a favor, work somewhere else.

2022-04-12I received excellent care at Northwest Texas Healthcare system during a scary health event. I was admitted as a patient to the Heart Hospital for a weekend stay. After my Surgeon, Dr. Ritter, completed his surgery, I was moved to the floor. Attending physician, Dr. Cabanas, explained everything so I could be informed. My nurse, Sara, was vigilant in overseeing my meds and condition. I know there were many others also caring for me. I cannot thank these people enough for keeping me safe and comfortable.
