I called to ask for a price on a items they had. they refused to tell me how much it cost and said i had to come into the store myself and look.. I have 2 small children I dont want to pull in and out of the car for no reason. the items they sell are not cheap and cost about the same as new store bought items. wasted my time.. sweet repeats is the place to go!
Places like this are here to help people that make not have much money to buy things for their children or child. These prices are ridiculously high. They should be ashamed of themselves. It’s used (USED) clothing and accessories. I think they should be reported. I live in another state and they have one and their prices are nothing like I seen here In Amarillo. I would give 0 starts but that’s not an option. Good day
I have been a loyal supporter of Once Upon a Child in several cities, but my husband and I have only had bad experiences with this location. We were willing to give them some time to adjust after moving locations, but have been repeatedly disappointed. On three different occasions we have showed up during posted business hours and found the store closed with no posted explanation either in person or online. The cashiers always seem to be in a bad mood when I go in, whether they are busy or only have a few customers. I also feel that it is incredibly irresponsible for them to refuse to wear masks since Amarillos hospitals are full and community spread of covid-19 is uncontrolled.Today we showed up at 9 to buy snow jackets for the kids since the roads are finally better, but found them closed with no explanation. We came back shortly after ten and found the doors open and lights on so we went in and gathered jackets and some ballet gear, but could hear the employees complaining loudly about having to open with no customers. They must not have seen us come in, because when we were ready to check out they told us that they werent going to open the registers until 11 and couldnt help us.Amarillo has other options for kids consignment and I would rather support Amazon than deal with this unpredictability and rudeness. Dont bother coming here.
Ive been doing business with once upon a child for I dont know how many years now, and have never once had any problems with the prices or the employees. The employees do their best to be thorough and quick and fair. Customers expectations may not be the business expectations and each employees sense of style is different. Ive watched the girls who started become ladies and start families. This is a family oriented store with families in mind, that provide a service for the public to make a little cash for things they would normally throw away and for those who cant afford to buy name brand clothes for their children at the outrageously high prices the stores sells for. The types and brands of clothing that they have, you definetly cant find at walmart! The ladies put the brand into the computer and search for the item and then give you the percentage they are allowed to accept or give to you for your things. Sometimes its a lot sometimes its not. But this is the best store in amarillo to buy and sell your unwanted never going to use again childrens things. You wont get a better offer or cash on the spot from any other place. Plus their notifications and sales and discounts are unbelievably crazy!! I recommend once upon a child to everyone I know and even those I dont know.
The customer service i received from MORGAN at Once Upon A Child was extremely appreciated! She was prompt, careing, understanding, knew her store policies without looking them up. Made me feel welcomed! There was another cashier that was attending another customer and Morgan came to me and showed out! We are from Fla. And were not dealing with this cold weather very well! Lol. But once I went into the store! I felt a warm. A well kept store that has great service! MORGAN ROCKS! I recommend this store for selling or buying clothes for your children! Reasonable rates, too! A 5 star isnt high enough! If you want a little extra cash for your clothes that are gently used and u want to get rid of them....go check out my new found store associate, Morgan! For those thinking of selling items here. I shall explain their pricing scheme. As stated by a store employee they based the price paid to a seller on retail value, they then receive retail value by 50% to what they suspect they can resale it for. They then reduce that value by 50% to the maximum they will pay the seller and then deduct value from that to what they will give the seller (Ex. 100×.50×.50-?). Sounds fair in practice till you provide them a nearly brand new item(I.E. school uniform shirt) which you know a specific retail value for and they offer you 5% of its value. Would not recommend this store or the store affiliated with it.
Relatively busy and a little hard to find. Have had excellent customer service when buying and selling here! Would recommend for purchasing gently used items!
I got 21.70$ for a couple of clothes, I had about 30+ old outfits that me and my dad washed, dried, and folded. The employee working there said most of the clothes had “stains” on them, we checked all of them twice! I think that the staff should look at the clothes a little more carefully. 👎
What can I say, I love this store! The selections are amazing and the prices are great. The staff is awesome and I enjoy the friendly atmosphere. This is by far my favorite children’s store. I highly recommend shopping here, you won’t be disappointed 😊
Rude customer service, and the lady with long hair and huge eye lashes seen I was next in line and she ignored me. And the other employee was watching me and looked at me like I shouldnt be in the store. I talk to the manager and he pretty much told me he didnt have time for me and laughed and walked off. This is twice they treated me and my family like we dont belong there. And now we wont.
I love coming to once you as child. I have a 7 year old daughter and a son on the way and once upon a child has saved me so much money by giving me great deals on lightly used name brand clothes and toys. We also got most of our baby equipment we needed there as well at nearly half the cost of new products. Also the staff are extremely helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I can always get advice on what my son might need or what my daughter might like. I will definitely be returning again and again to once upon a child.
I went to their 90% off sale for shoes for my twins. I got 4 pairs of shoes for 1.95. This store is great with their sales. Their proces as far as consignment are a lot higher then other consignment stores I have been to. This could be because they only take name brands like Nike or Champion rather then everything like Garanamials or other not so popular name brands. Great selection of clothes for all ages. I also love their toy section. All their toys are in phenomenal condition and are very well priced. Defintiely thinking about going here for birthday and Christmas presents rather then buying new.
I will NEVER set foot in that store again!! I live an hour away and drove over there just to sell my sons clothes(some never used).it was Sunday so they opened at 12 and I was the FIRST one in the store.. I asked the staff how long it would take she said 1 hour. I let her know I’m out of town and she ok. So exactly an hour later I come back and they said still not ready it’ll be 30 mins, came back 30 mins..still not ready and again they said 30 mins cameback again!!! Still not ready...I ended up waiting 3hours!!!and they still were not ready so I came in and told them I had to go to give me ALL the clothes...2 weeks later I come back(after I cooled off) tried it to sell my sons clothes again...talked to a manager about last time and they said they would work on my bin immediately. 20 mins after I left I got a text saying my bin was ready and they were gonna offer me 5.40 for like 4 or 5 outfits!!! They were the SAME clothes 2weeks ago and they had a huge pile they were gonna accept and today they were only gonna accept 4 outfits??!! I think they did it out of spite. So I took all my clothes even the ones they were gonna accept and left extremely mad. To say the least, I will never shop or sell there again.
I will never bother with this store again. The last time I came and purchased clothing, they were rude snd I spent nearly $200. This time, I came with a bag of clothing to sell (first time), and they literally didnt look at 90% of my items, most of which were brand new, because I had put them in small bags to sort and size them (because I have boy and girl who are different ages). Clearly, they must think items in baggies are dirty, and if that is the sort of clientele you attract, I dont even want to support your establishment. I worked retail for nearly a decade, and that is the most asinine reason not to open a bag of clothing that I can think of, not to mention extraordinarily lazy, considering that the girl who took them in never said anything about the bags being an issue. The womens shelter is clearly a better place to take my childrens items, and they probably deserve it more anyhow.
I walked up to the counter at 4:04 pm. I saw the employee roll her eyes and look at another employee. She then turns to me and says, sorry but we stop taking clothes at 4:00. You can come back tomorrow at 9am. I understand they have to have a cut off, but I didn’t walk in at 5:56 pm (they close at 6:00)I walked in 2 hours before they close! Plus, I’m at work at 9 am in the morning. I’ve sold clothes here many times, guess not anymore!
Good place to get lightly used clothing and shoes for our son. It is very well organized by size and even by color! They are quick about buying back things for cash exchange too.
Great place to buy clothes and some toys but that is all. All of the larger items are overpriced from what I have seen. As with any used store, dont take stuff in to sell and expect to get more than a few pennies. They work like a pawn shop. Buy low and sell high. They are counting on you NEEDING the money and saying yes to whatever price they throw at you.
I was just going in there dressed very nice and not at a busy time otherwise, I had to say you will be judged but, sometimes when I havent been and mayhap and looking my best, Ive been treated ugly and they look down their nose at me. Ive actually got back in 2 days later with the same clothes in different bags and been treated completely different. Just FYI. I know as moms sometimes we dont always take is Medicare of our parents as we do our kids we put our heads first like good moms should but oh, not all them boys are that way but, a lot of them are.
Ive been shopping here for my daughter for 4 years. Every school year I can always depend on OUAC to have cute clothes for all seasons and occasions! Not to mention the cute Justice items i find that my daughter loves to wear! Now that I have a 3 month old, its a great place for me to shop when Im buying in bulk!
Called before we went to their store. Asked if they were taking toddler beds. Was told yes. Took it apart and hauled it up there. When we get there the girl behind the counter wants me to put it back together, so I did. No tools but by hand. They take one look at it and said they were only really interested in the mattress. Ive had issues several times with this place. They may want to hire grown ups to run their store instead of little girls who dont know what they are doing. Ill never be back.
Not happy with Once Upon a Child! Took my NEW items on the Sunday of Christmas the lady working gave me a value of the items. I thought Id wait little as wasnt too happy on quote. Thanked the lady and went upon my business.You Took same items in today still in SAME CONDITION only thing different this time was I was ready to sell upon. To begin with my order was not large. Advised if my clothes were ready due to time passing by. They hadnt even started on mine. Let alone chit chat. Anywho, only was it when I said something my order was being attended to. Gave me a quote of less value then what it was worth! Not sure why adv. Everything same condition. The lady working my order called Tabitha over and stated can only go up little I asked I was quoted a different amount when I originally brought in. Tabitha could not give me an exact Answer as to why it was quoted that. Not very pleasing to work with on sales maybe just bad day.
Wish Once Upon A Child had been open when my kids were young! I love this store--I found so many great deals on new (yes new!) and gently worn clothes and accessories for my nieces, nephews, and friends. And if you need bows--they have the BEST selection in Amarillo! Friendly staff too!
Whats not to love! Have taken tons of items and sold almost all of them! Lets be realistic people they cant buy everything. Prices are reasonable and service is great! Staff is always smiling, friendly and the store is always clean. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
We love OUAC! Ive never been in there where the staff wasnt extremely nice, and weve never left empty handed. Im thankful theres a place like this for my boys as they outgrow clothes so quickly! Keep up the awesome work! :)

I have purchased car seats here over the past 7 years, due to them carrying brands not available anywhere else in Amarillo. I have also sold childrens clothing here multiple times over the last several years. Unfortunately, their customer service continues to dwindle away. They operate with a limited staff that would rather provide excuse after excuse than try to take care of a customer. This type of customer service continues to drive online sales... I would rather invest my time seeking out best options online versus dealing with employees with a lack of enthusiasm and desire to aide those investing in their company.
Pretty cool place! other than I took my time to make sure the outfits are together when I took them in and what I had left that wasnt used I noticed yall took the pants and left shirts or you would take the shirts and leave the pants very upsetting considering I took it in as it was a set not just throw whatever yall think is cute together...
Always loved once upon a child and go there often to get things for my growing little one. I think they recently moved next door to expand, but there are now open electrical outlets on the ground without any covers for safety. Made me nervous when I saw what my child had started to play with, please take care of this so myself and other parents dont have to worry when they come to your store!Reply: So youre telling me youre not going to do anything to prevent children from touching and possibly sticking things into these electrical outlets and getting electrocuted for the next 6 months? I expected an owner of a childrens store to take more responsibility for the safety of children. Especially when its as simple as getting outlet covers. I wont be taking my daughter here any longer out of serious concern for her safety.
I love buying and selling my gently used baby clothes from there! There give me a fair price for my clothes and I can get a discount by turning around and buying more! The clothes are in great shape too!
Crappy customer service you show yo two hours before they actually close to make sure they can help you and they only have one bin with clothes and tell you its probably not going to get done until the following day with 3 cashiers up front two chatting up and laughing! Very horrible experience first and last time to ever show! If I wanted to be lowballed on baby clothes I would sell online! No thank you! Store has a very weird smell as soon as you walk inside it too! No thank you!

Once upon a child is an incredible growing business here in Amarillo Texas helping those with kiddos get gently used and new kid and baby items at a very low cost! They have furniture, clothes and all baby needs! They even have cute kids earrings and jewelry and bows! 😍 GREAT SALES and friendly staff! 5 stars! We have come here for 8 years now and will continue as well as send people their way!
Absolutely do not do business with this place!!That means buy or sell something! They are in the business of ripping people off. We took in a pak and play that was brand new, bought for 250 dollars and they tried to give us 37 dollars for it. The owners should be ran out of town for taking advantage of people! They say they buy clothes but dont ... they said they couldnt buy my clothes because of pet hair.. I dont own a pet. Went and washed them like they said and still they claimed pet hair which they could not show me. due to allergies they dont take ... but they sure do take perfume loaded clothes which my son is allergic to.... I go through and look for clothes and everything is very faded and worn with prices that about match buying new.
Don’t get me wrong I love the store but I took 5 pairs of brand new shoes that my kids never got to wear and they only tried to give me $7.99 for all 5 them when I know how the store work... sorry but no
This place has always been a great Consignment spot especially when it comes to getting rid of your unwanted or unneeded baby items clothing Furniture beds high chairs Etc and I can at least say the last time that I went in there I took a pair of snow boots and a PAW Patrol jacket and was rather quite surprised in a good way when she offered me $6.40 for both the shoes and the jacket. Because our last couple of visits up there when we have been taking name brand Gap baby OshKosh BGosh really good name brand clothes they just didnt even really need to make us wait like they usually tell people and say theyll text you back when theyre ready they just took one look at our staff and said we dont want any of it so like I said I was really pleased that this last time it turned out different.

2022-08-13Huge selection of clothes, I can always find what I’m looking for. I’ve saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars shopping here for my kids over the years, and the quality is good because they are so picky about what they put out on their racks!They also frequently have great sales and awesome giveaways, and I’ve always had good experiences with the employees and customer service! I recommend this to all my friends. Kids are expensive, save some money!

2017-08-03This is the best resale shop for kids hands down. They always have the cutest stuff and they also have tons of sales all the time. If you sign up for their emails you will never miss a single one. The people there are so friendly in it you get really good prices for your clothes.

2021-12-23I bought a used toy from here. It was $18. Included was only a monster truck arena no shovels or dirt. This sells for $24 on Amazon. I tried to return or exchange because I felt the toy was over priced for what was provided. The women at the front said she didnt know how much they sell for, but she assumed $36. I felt i was being ripped off. I left the toy to be donated. Very disappointing to see a local store I shop at frequently be so unsure of what they are selling..waste of time an money.

2021-03-27This place is so organized and clean! I love how everything is organized by size, then color, and then type of clothes (shirts, pants, shorts ect). The staff is very helpful and friendly as well. Some of the items are a little pricey but they are the name brand things. You can still find great deals on good quality items. I highly recommend and will be going back!

2021-01-09This use to be my favorite children’s store. All the items I bring in to sell are donated and that money is donated to a variety of charities. For 20+ years, I have asked for a print out of each item with the offer price. I also ask if certain items are negotiable; for example, I had a brand new Calvin Klein puffer vest, tags still attached, for $25.00. My buy offer was .90 cents so obviously I’m not going to sell it. I was told by the manager, Todd that his employees were complaining about me and did not have time for me. He said I thought I was special. No I don’t think I’m special, I just happen to have a Phd in Management Information Systems and I am business professor so naturally I know the system. I have never been rude or disrespectful to the staff. I have always enjoyed the staff and even brought them gifts but right now some of the staff are very unprofessional especially management.

2020-05-28Always an amazing experience at this store. Finding good clothes at decent prices is hard but this store makes it so easy. I even get really nice formal clothes here. Customer service is never a dissatisfying, everyone is so nice and willing to help.

2019-11-14Love the store, the staff, and the owners. Locally owned and they are all so helpful and friendly! They have a good selection of clothes for my little that are in great condition so I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth and good use out of them, even though she grows out of them so quickly! Love the section of new double strollers too!
