Orpheus Academy of Music in other cities:
The approach to learning music theory and composition as opposed to just learning the notes is what sets Orpheus apart. It works so well to create better musicians.I absolutely love our daughters teacher, Jae Eun Baek. She is fabulous. I think Leahs progress and interest in music has been greatly influenced for the best due to her teaching.
Orpheus Music Academy has highly skilled instructors who infuse lots of fun and warmth for each child into their classes. My 4 year-old son takes group music and private piano. He looks forward to both each week. Hes never taken any formal music lessons until now and hes grown so much in his musical ability this past year - all thanks to both Ms. Wendy and Ms. Christine. I cant say enough wonderful things about Orpheus!
My son has been studying guitar at Orpheus for more than 4 years now. He is making progress everyday. I like Orpheus very much. They set up basic goals for every student each semester. The students earn wrist band when they pass exams, and they also make CDs or organize public concerts, so they get to enjoy performing either private or in public. Orpheus make music learning experience exciting and interesting. I am glad that I sent my son to Orpheus. He really enjoyed everything.
I am so happy that I found Orpheus. My two children are currently taking lessons there --one for guitar and the other for piano. Voice and violin instruction are offered as well. The instructors my children have are excellent musicians. They are kind people as well who are encouraging, knowledgeable, and exceedingly capable of conveying information about technique and music theory in ways that make sense to a 7 and 9 year old.The songs used in the lessons have been a mix of international folk/traditional songs, classical compositions and popular songs. Several songs are worked on at the same time. The teachers ask my children for suggestions but also introduce songs that are appropriately challenging and that reinforce new concepts.Music theory is an important component of the instrument lessons and is further explained in a weekly musicianship class. In the musicianship class, several students work together as they learn about the elements of music through singing, playing games, and learning ensemble pieces. All activities seem to be carefully chosen to match abilities-- yet challenge.Opportunities are provided throughout the year for students to perform in front of others. To me, Orpheus is great because it helps the student learn so much about music in so many different ways. Through public and private experiences (practicing at home is strongly encouraged), my kids are coming to see themselves as musicians as well as members of a community of musicians. The program offered at Orpheus reflects exceptional care and effort on the part of the owners.
Orpheus is a great musical school. My son had studied guitar there for more than two years since he was five. I am very impressed by the teaching philosophy and methods Mr. Klondike applies in the academy about teaching kids music. Actually its not only about teaching the kids techniques, but more about cultivating and nourishing their interests in playing music. The teachers of Orpheus are very professional and patient. I am very thankful to my sons guitar teacher, Mr. Devin Ryan. He knows how to teach a younger kid. I believe he must have learned or had good knowledge about early childhood education besides his amazing guitar techniques. We moved to Houston last month which made me and my son very sad about leaving Orpheus. I appreciate Mr. Klondikes kindness to introduce other professional musical teachers in Houston to us. We definately would like to re-visit Orpheus or attend their recitals if there is an opportunity. We miss Mr. Klondike, Mr. Devin and the nice front desk ladies Michelle and Annette very much. I hope Orpheus will be known to more kids and will benefit them on their future life.
Every aspect of Orpheus is aimed at providing the highest quality of music education to each student. The teachers are of a caliber rarely found at other schools, as well as the attention to detail in administration. I am proud that my son gets to begin his musical journey here and I am excited to spend many years as part of this amazing community.
Ms. Joyce (piano teacher) is friendly, kind, patient, precise and smart. She has done well with our ADHD 11 yo son.The school offers numerous opportunities for the student to show case what they have learned. They also have mixed group lessons once a week to encourage the students to work with other student musicians, since playing an instrument can be solitary at times.Fast and easy communication with the friendly front staff. The location is clean and well maintained. The owner that I met, Klondike, was very kind and open. He is accessible to the parents, which is a big plus.
My daughter has taken guitar lessons at Orpheus Academy for about a year and half now. She is loving it. The class usually has a part for group lesson and a part for private instruction. At the beginning, she was hesitated to go because she thought it might be boring and tedious. But after she tried out the class, she begun to love it. The guitar training book is an easy step to step instruction with a well balanced collection of a wide genres of music which makes guitar learning effortless for my daughter. The instructors, like Mr. David, Mr. Kevin, and Mr. Klondike are knowledgeable and nice, and always find their ways to encourage students to try their best. My daughter also did a home concert before summer. She has been coming out of her shy self a lot because of this music learning experience at Orpheus. We are really happy about that.
I have two children at Orpheus. One has taken piano for several years at Orpheus and the other has just started guitar. The staff at Orpheus has been wonderful for both of the boys. They have been sensitive to their particular needs. I would highly recommend this music school for children who need that added care and attention. Both children are excelling in their instruments. Tanks Orpheus!!!!!!!!!!
Ive been attending Orpheus for three months now and Ive had a great experience. The instructors are highly qualified (they focus more on the classical side of things.) The faculty that Ive had contact with is polite and friendly. Their students are mostly school children, but they have plenty of adult students as well.
Our son has been taking guitar lessons with Dr. Klondike who is the Director of the program, and we have nothing but great things to say about the program. They way they approach teaching is truly holistic in nature and helps nurture kids love for music. We highly recommend it to anyone looking to get their kids involved with music!
I cannot say enough good things about Orpheus and Dr. Klondike. I was nervous that it was too early to start my 6yo daughter in lessons, and I didn’t want to burn her out, but Orpheus hits the perfect amount of instruction while keeping it fun. They focus in keeping the child engaged and make sure they are enjoying their instrument.
Before looking into this studio, I thought it might be run sort of like a hair salon — in other words, just a place for a teacher to conduct lessons, and have new students issued to them and staff to track their schedules and collect payment. But it’s so much more than that. The school founders wanted to create a place where music teachers could work together to improve their methods and skills, and they invest a lot of time and money into continuing education and collaborative opportunities for their teaching staff. They recognize how challenging it is to get a child to put in the time it takes to learn something as difficult as an instrument, and they will work with both parent and child to achieve a balance of motivation and discipline, Both teachers I’ve worked with have been wonderful and my kids love their lessons.
Terrific place to learn how to make music! My lessons instructor, Dr. Valeria Diaz, is wonderful! She offers great advice and insight on how to approach or play a piece to make it sound even better. She gives me great options on pieces that match my skill level and are also fun/beautiful/rewarding to play. As is probably the case with many other adult students, I can be a little hard on myself and get frustrated at times, but Dr. Diaz is always encouraging and understanding. She is also an amazing pianist, so what else could you ask for? As for Orpheus in general, it’s nice to have opportunities to meet with other adult students and to play for each other. It serves as kind of a support network as we each strive to become better musicians. Yay for Orpheus!
If you are serious about investing in a TOP musical education for your child or yourself then look no further. Orpheus is a dream come true for me bc I wanted a place that not only taught a great method, but also focused on the performance. We have been here a year and my very shy little 5 year old boy now jumps on the piano when guest are visiting and they are just shell shocked at what he can do. I love this place and so will you.
Personalized and proactive staff. Love the way they see the person in the musician first and encourage the musician to develop within the child. A natural love for music is developed in the child that I see they will carry lifelong. We are grateful to have this. Thank you.
Mijong, my teacher, is really great. Im an adult and much older than most of her students. She is patient with my learning curve and also intuitive enough to notice when Im interested in something more advanced than my current lesson and takes time to help me understand it.

2020-06-18We love Orpheus! Your staff is very gracious and helpful. Your instructors are patient, knowledgeable, friendly, encouraging and thorough. It is very easy to make adjustments to our schedule if something comes up. And, there are lots of extra-curricular programs for my daughter to continue and build-on her music skills and comprehension.

2014-02-16My son has been taking guitar lessons and theory class at the Orpheus Academy of Music for past 4 years and I can not recommend a better place to learn and appreciate music. The facility is clean and very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and exhibit a great amount of professionalism all the while keeping the learning fun and the pressure low-key.Above all, what keeps us at Orpheus are two things that I consider very important:One, the diversity and appreciation of all kinds of music that they teach and are open to teaching. Second, the various group performances held every month and the concerts that they hold which keeps my son motivated to learn and enjoy music, and at the same time work towards a goal. The participation in these are optional but it really helps set a goal.

2014-05-17The Orpheus Academy of Music is top notch. I feel like I find a pearl among music schools that has excellent teachers as well as philosophy of music education.Materials are well organized based on their long-term teaching experience. Teachers are high quality and they know exactly how to handle each student to develop their own ability. My daughter, Kindergartner, has been doing so well learning Kodaly method on piano. It seems like playing piano is a little slow in short-term with this approach. But I believe that their approach builds strong basis on music. We love every single lesson with Ms.Wendy & Mr. Klondike. I highly recommend the Orpheus Academy of Music.

2021-07-19Wyatt Turner was terrific. I studied Classical Guitar in my teens and am now 57. I wanted to return to the guitar as a hobby. Life happens though and I need to save up for a surgery my wife needs, so my lessons have to take a back seat for a while. Wyatt was highly qualified and was more prepared for each of my lessons than I myself was. He had a plan. He did not wing it. I was very impressed and learned a lot in the short time I was able to take lessons with Orpheus. I hope to return when my financial situation improves. Thanks!!

2020-04-17We feel so fortunate to have our children enrolled in guitar and piano lessons at Orpheus. Particularly during a time that we are at home and are doing zoom lessons. My children have felt connected with their teachers and have been able to enjoy their lessons and progress with their instruments. My daughter has even learned to tune her guitar on her own with special help from her teacher. We are grateful for Orpheus’s easy transition to enriching instruction through zoom lessons.

2012-10-25Orpheus Academy is a wonderful comprehensive musical program! I think they have the perfect combination of instruction for theory and performance. They also provide such a unique music culture for the kids with faculty concerts and other community opportunities. My son is in his third year and my daughter has just started piano. Im utterly amazed at the pace and progress from week to week. I give Orpheus Academy my highest recommendation.
