Love this space. Love the owner Mama Akwete who is warm, wise and loving. She make any space feel like home. Every event I attend there is fulfilling. I can’t say enough. I’m in love with the place!! It’s my Cheers!!! Cheers 🥳🎉 to you Pan African Connection! 🙌🏾🤩🥰💜🌎❤️🔥
On March 19, I contacted this store to purchase 25lb Shea butter box, spoke to a lady and was told the price is $87.50. On Wednesday May 27, contacted the store (called and texted), spoke to a lady again and she advised the price is the same $87.50 When went to purchase the next day, my card was swiped for $100 instead of the price given. This is part of the reason why is it hard for people to support ‘black businesses’. You can not charge a different amount after you have provided the cost to a customer. This is a business that charges what they feel at the time and changes the price after they’ve told you a price. While there, a customer inquired on a price and the woman said $300, then after further review of past conversations between her and that customer, she changes to say “oh I told her $250, charge her $250. Smh They did a bait and switch type of deal. BAD BUSINESS. Always stay professional and hold your integrity to keep your word on the prices you give to customers. First & Last time here. I do not recommend this place and will not support Pan African Connection again.
I absolutely love this store. I always find what I am looking for. I love what they do for the community and wished that I lived closer. 45 min ride each way but totally worth it because I feel at home in the store. Always greeted with a smile and usually spend more than I planned but its all good. I get lost in the book section. Glad that they are on social media so I can stay in the know.
I love everything about this store. Its more than just a store, it is a real place to connect. To the community, too the people in the neighborhood, business, products and services. Community activities and announcements, fruit and vegetables growing education, giveaways and so much community resources. The knowledge of the African Culture is so rich and abundant, so many free activities and events for child. This is a dream, please support, come and bring someone. Incense, books, soaps, lotions, clothing, artifacts, one visit may change you forever. Thank you Pan African Connection for doing everything you are doing for our people and community and world. 💜💞
MRS. AKWTEYE IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND WARMS YOU WITH A SOFT EMBRACE. THERE ARE VERY NICE AFRICAN SCULPTURES, MASKS, MUDCLOTH, BOOKS, ETC. PAN AFRICAN CONNECTION ALSO HAS EVENTS THAT ARE COMMUNITY AND CULTURALLY AWARE. ID RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN KNOWLEDGE AND HISTORY OF AFRICA.
I absolutely love this store! It is an amazing experience for me and my family, we truly love it. From math tutoring, arts and crafts to all the wonderful children books available. I personally enjoy the many vegan cookbooks and information on spiritual enlightenment.
I have been patronizing Pan-African Connection since they were on Jefferson. The store is always filled with amazing items and the owner is AWESOME. Its a very friendly, welcoming environment. I shop here frequently and especially love when the vendors are set up or when theres something special going on like the drum circle, story telling, etc.
Everyone is always pleasant and helpful when I visit. I have been coming to this place for many years and I always find new things, great books, effective natural skin care products, and impressive art. They also host a variety of events all centered around community growth, fellowship and of course the culture.
PAC has been a one-stop shop for all of my cultural needs for at least 18 of the 21 years I’ve been in Dallas. It is educational and fun for all ages and a priority stop when family and friends come to town. The atmosphere is relaxing and the customer service is on point. I have spent hours there shopping and enjoying the positive vibes. You will not be disappointed!
This is a very great place. Everyone was very friendly and nice in the store and I was glad that I was able to get the Obama calendars there at a discount. It me plenty of product Africa cloth material to chairs to books and so on. This place had a lot of African-American books. This place has a lots and lots of African-American charm and items that you can purchase. Only thing I wish they had more for HBCU . Like HBCU school t-shirts, hats and jacket. Also with more sorority and fraternity items as well. Love this black book store
Best place to celebrate your heritage. Great environment, very, very friendly, informative and helpful. Love the way they celebrate our children encouraging them to be business owners at a young age. Too many items to list. Get up and go support a wonderful BLACK OWNED BUSINESS RIGHT IN THE CLIFF...
Love the variety of EVERYTHING AFRICAN in this store. I purchased a few items and will return to pick out some more unique items. I love the staff, but they didnt seem to know prices or where to find anything. No worries, Ill still support this storeIll just plan to stay longer to see everything :)
Great selection online! My order came on time and I am really happy with the books I ordered. The store is a pillar in the community and has a strong social media presence. I definitely look forward to checking out some of their events in-person in post-pandemic times. Thank you for doing what you do, PAC! ✨
This place is awesome! For anyone who loves cultural things, this place is eye-candy at its best! There are isles and isles of African artifacts. Theres a large variety of masks, sculptures, furniture, jewelry, clothing, fabrics, books and so much more.Whats especially nice is the owner and staff members are so knowledgeable and helpful. This place is a gem in the community! They also offer a number of classes and cultural events for the community.
My experience with Pan African Connection Bookstore has always been a pleasant one. Anytime Im on the hunt for a good book with black faces, this is my first stop. I also refuse to buy my sage from anywhere else. The programming they put on for the community is dope too.
Pan african connection embodies the community, our history, and forward movement. Books, sculptures, soap and Shea butter,.black owned business items, a huge variety of African apparel, and a venue. I have been to and hosted many events here. The owner is always happy to oblige.A must visit in Dallas.
I frequently shop at Pan African Connect & have referred many people to support this business. I am socially, economically & present in the support of any Black(Melanin rich) brother or sister supporting the community. I wholeheartedly believe that if we don’t support each other then who will? The situation: My father was hospitalized for a diabetic related condition. I purchased a detox that I have used & have had excellent results with on November 17th, 2020. Well...Its January 3rd, 2021...Nothing was ever shipped...I have spoken with the sister who holds the keys to the business about my dissatisfaction of the service & the circumstances surrounding the issue on multiple occasions. She agreed to meet me at her place of business to make things right & to have some type of recourse on the unfortunate mishap. As agreed, I arrive at the store and she is not there. I explain to the sister behind the counter the nature of my situation...The vibe changed from hospitable to insensitive & very unpleasant. So I simply asked for a refund & I will definitely never be frequenting this place again. We have to do a better job. Advice: People will forget what you have said, people will forget what you have done but they will never forget how you made them feel!
Not too far from the african american museum. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the store. They played some nice music which added to the experience. They carry african american fiction books, history, health, etc. They carry HBCU memorabilia like school flags. Also they carry oils, black soap, etcAaanndd you can pick up african clothing, masks , furniture. Great service!! I would highly recommend. We came in planning to spend a few dollars and dropped about $100 lol. Check it out!
This a great place to find out about our African culture. Its so many things to learn. The Lady their is very knowledgeable and if she doesnt know there is someone willing to help. Even if your not of color still go and check it out. I dare u to be adventures lol... its a peaceful vibe.
My experiences are like being home...I can literally stay in there for hours...Its more than a bookstore its an experience! The greatest resource in North Texas for Black folx connecting us with the power of our past...it is where we find the truth...it like going home and hanging out with family!
Pan African Connection is the best Black bookstore and Black cultural arts and elements store Ive been to..they have a wide array of adults and childrens books, Black products/jewelry/trinkets/clothing, and an immense collection of African art. The bookstore is also an essential community hub that hosts much-needed workshops, activities, celebrations, and cultural events...in addition, the staff is very friendly/helpful/knowledgeable..I highly recommend this store as a Black history teacher, author, and afro-centered Black man still seeking to grow...Pan-African is a Dallas community gem..
My favorite African-centered bookstore/clothing/drums, etc. I can always find a new book, they have the best ongoing and rotating selection. Something for every age! I saw a calendar I didnt get to pick up in Philly while I was there and they just so happened to have them, are my trip!
PAC has been my go to book store since I was in college in the early 90’s. Not only the books, but the African vibe that’s there is so comforting and up lifting . Every time I’m in the area, I make it a point to stop in. It’s a community staple, and should be supported to the fullest. I hope PAC is around for years to come.
AWESOME PLACE! I love coming here to shop and enjoy community events! Such a jewel to our community. Great art, books & more. Not to mention everything they provide to the community like free fruits & vegetables, classes to help you learn about homebuying & festivals!!
My Favorite Place to Come to its My Spiritual Connection,A Peace of My Mind, Rejuvenating Mindset everytime I get An Opportunity to Come in there Also its Restoration for me every chance I can come in there. Blessings, Peace, & Thank U to the Pan African Connection Family Book Store Much Appreciated. Especially Moma.
Every time I drive from Fort Worth to Dallas to visit Pan African Connection (PAC), I discover and learn something new. It’s indeed like taking a trip to the Motherland.I absolutely love PAC! As a matter of fact I need to make a journey there soon to find the perfect neck piece for an upcoming event.🤎🤎✊🏾✊🏾🤎🤎✊🏾✊🏾🤎🤎✊🏾✊🏾🤎🤎✊🏾✊🏾
This is what every urban black community needs. Coming Los Angeles, I didnt think I would be able to find a place where I could buy sage, incense, copal, oils, books on African/Black history and culture. I love this store. From the fabrics to classes to storytelling. Its a cultural must!!!
There arent enough stars available to express how Amazing Pan-African Connection is to my family and I. The education we gain, beautiful people we meet and opportunities offered are priceless. Its are home away from home and there is no better place in the world for us than HOME!
This store is absolutely AMAZING! FOR US BY US!!! From the items to the service there is nothing i can complain about other than i wish they stayed open later on Sunday!! Anything u need from sage, black soap, masks statues tshirts books to jewelry! Its one of my favorite places to go in Dallas no other place like it!
I regret that I don’t have pictures. I’ll take some next time. The place is full of African history, clothing, books, home decor, incense, butters and soaps, purses, jewelry and so much more. I loved it!I purchased African black soap (a huge bar), Shea butter, and incense.
Great store, friendly staff. This was our first time visiting the store since our move to Texas. Our experience was awesome. My husband and I couldnt get enough of the art and books. While there we even met another Charlotte, N.C native. Small world....We will definitely be going back. We love this place.
Went yesterday 6/7/19. Enjoyed browsing through the African artifacts. The authentic pieces were way out of my budget, and the more reasonable pieces were just ok. Nothing to catch my eye. They had alot of great books, some I considered purchasing, but the customer service was really bad. So I decided to take my business somewhere else. I can find some of the inauthentic items online, as well as the books too. A few of the books I already owned. But I was really bombed out because I thought it would have been a great 1st experience. Ive read so many good things about this business, but nothing near to what I saw. No education on any of the artifacts, no one greeted, no one asked if we needed help, or was looking for anything in particular, no one thanked us for coming, and invited us back, when we left. We were totally ignored the entire 45 minutes we were there. I prefer to spend my money in my community, but I am very big on customer service, and they definitely got a 0. The juice man wasnt there. But there was another man and kid out front selling snack food items, so we bought a few things, cause his customer service was on point. So thats how that went. I will be back to see if the juice guy is there. If there are more professional people that care about selling something and making their customers feel welcomed, I may go back in the store. We will see.
Greeting my dear friends, this place is an open book of the hearts and minds our family members history. The artifacts, yes, that is what I call them. The designer of every piece of art in this place, reveals to me the facts about a people that no one can write about. The facial expressions tell me the real history as my soul always seen to connect with their souls. I am there in their place, their suffering and pain, their life struggle feel my soul with their spirit. When I walk out of the door going home, that burning torch of Hope that they were seeking, burns in me to keep their hope alive. So when you see me at this place, I carry in me their desire to be free of all that seek to hold me back from my humans destiny. Yes , my heart and my mind, they are truth free. So I thank Allah for this very unique place here, Pan African Connection.
Great shopping experience....i called the store to see if they were open on labor day and they were closed to the public but the owner said come on in and we can assist you!!!! This is just one of the great perks of small business and why we should always shop with SB!!!! The store is well stocked and had everything i was looking for!!!!!
This place is such a gem in the community. Visiting is really like taking a trip to Africa because of all the African art, books, clothes, and even hair care items that they offer. They even offer cool classes like Swahili lessens as well as yoga and other useful classes and for free no doubt. This place is simply put amazing!!
The best bookstore for African cultural influence. Beautiful African art and a place for community to come together and learn about the culture as well as groups within the community that are giving back, teaching special classes or being apart of the drum circle. This is a great family place so we frequent it often.
I Love this store. If you want to find yourself and learn our history this is the store to go to. I almost went broke buying so many books and merchandise. The staff are friendly and this is a good way to practice group economics. Keep our dollar in circulation with each other and nobody else.
I was visiting from Fort Lauderdale Florida and was looking for some african art and design. I was told about this amazing place and was in blown away by this store. They hold lectures and meetings, it really feels like a great big family. The energy here is so positive and calming. If you are looking to build your knowledge about our history this is the place to be because they have a wonderful collection of books as well. Instead of going to the mall to spend my money Id rather spend to right here!!! Everyone needs to support this gem!!! I love this store!! Our melanin people needs this type of store all over the world. Thank you Pan-African Connection!!
This establishment is the perfect spot for the diaspora collective! It has books, jewelry, classes etc for everyone in the community to enjoy! I live the Pan African because it offers solace to an otherwise overlooked and undernourished neighborhood. This place is a pillar for so many people!
I love the environment. Sista Akwete and Kin always welcome you with a smile, peace, and knowledge of whatever you need for all that come in. I love this place. I recommended anyone that have never been there go and experience what I have. Peace and Mental Love to All
I could never afford the type of knowledge my family have encountered at Pan African Connection. A cut above any cultural experience weve ever had. We are from Nebraska now living in North Dallas)and I didnt stop getting homesick until I found visiting Africa without getting on a plane!!!!

2022-02-08Let me just tell you that if you want a taste of Africa and just a beautiful black experience, you MUST visit this place. You will not be disappointed. I went a little crazy buying some clothing, jewelry, books and soap and fabric. I mean, I love each one of my purchases. The owner is such a beautiful soul and the other staff members were just as sweet. I look forward to going back. I live in McKinney and will travel to South Dallas for such an adventure as this.

2022-02-03If youre looking for the REAL deal, no fake stuff. This is the best African store to purchase goods, books, hair care, clothing, herbal, and holistic products. I travel 50 minutes across town each month to purchase my must have items. The store doesnt disappoint and the experience is even better. I cant wait until the weather warms up to attend their events. Its like Black History month- 12 months out of the year!!!

2022-05-12A dream come true! I lived in a place for 10+ years where there was no appreciation for culture or diversity. Visiting this black owned book store has been on my list for years and I finally made it! I thought Id go for an hour or so, but naw....I was there for 3 hours and could have stayed longer. The owner, herself, was a gem. We talked. She shared. We laughed. They are such an investment in the community and to the community. Here, youre going to get your soul fed. Expect to browse books, products, African art, jewelry, clothes, etc. There may even be a scheduled event you can happen into! I highly recommend this spot!
