The band did Duke Ellington and was fantastic... as was the club owner on his various horns. The lighting person was on point and the stage was beautiful. The servers were courteous and attentive, and the drinks delicious. All in all, an amazing experience. Better than any jazz club weve visited on the East coast.
Ive been there 6 times and loved it each time. Twice it was the house band, 3 guest bands and best of all the house orchestra. Good wine and service, and outstanding atmosphere. Feels a lot like a Manhattan basement club. Sarah is a wonderful waitress, makes you feel like a friend. Cant wait til next year when theyll have lite bites.
This place is fantastic!! A group of us showed up later to the show and I wish we could have made the whole thing. The band is so lively and interactive. If you even remotely like Jazz, you will enjoy an evening spent here. The staff are friendly and the drinks are good.
Very cool place to visit for jazz music lovers. The Copa Kings & Barbara White were great; light, mics, sound installed, equipment, vocal performance. My first experience visiting this place was great. Had chance to listen to many great jazz songs in live & professional performance by mentioned band. Cant see any sign of bad in general, $$ place to visit.
Parker Jazz Club is owned and run by an extremely talented and charismatic musician in Austin, Texas named Kris Kimura. Kris has clearly put his heart and soul into this club and it shows. The Parker Jazz Club is clean, well-run, filled with friendly and helpful employees, and has been gifted with some incredibly - talented musicians. On the night I attended with some members of my family while visiting from the Seattle area, we had the truly unforgettable experience of listening to the Wasabi Big Band, which was, in my opinion, composed of some of most talented and energetic musicians Ive ever had the pleasure of listening to. If you live in Austin or ever visit Austin, make sure you visit Parker Jazz Club. For me, the evening I spent at Parker Jazz Club was a wonderful experience that Ill never forget. I cannot wait until we visit Austin again!
Great basement club. Killer jazz set with flutist Nestor Torres. Good vibe, site lines and sound. I loved it there. $15 per person for the late show on a Saturday nightWell worth checking out. Try to get reservations if you can. The second show started at 10pm. An upscale crowd lived the show and scene. Near Capitol grille and Trulucks.
This place is awesome! Great drink, great style, awesome location and setting. But (unsurprisingly) best of all was the music and the band. Really cool Christmas-themed set, but it is really all about the people. Kris Kimura (owner of the club and father of Parker, who it is named for) was a hilarious, entertaining and talented host - he plays 8+ instruments!I look forward to coming back!
My son bought these 2 Tix for our Christmas gift. We were in awe, amazement at this Club. There atmosphere, love, beautiful people who work here, were the greatest!!!. Non smoking, clean, drinks are real good. They have plenty virgin drinks to choose from.. the band weve seen was the Count Basie Orchestra.. what a lifetime award!!!
Parker Jazz Club will ignite a fire below your feet! The sound engineering was so phenomenal it felt like a dream or auditory illusion. The players were jolly and full of intent. The lighting was perfect. Thank you for providing a memorable experience to us youngsters from Utah.
I put myself on the waitlist for tonight’s show but also just walked up in case a seat was available. Thrilled that it was but also, man if Emily wasn’t just the nicest welcome to the establishment. Same with the bartenders, Oliver and Rachel, just as personable as can be. And that’s before the music even started. I already like this place. Now shhh… the trio is starting… (p.s. the music was EVERYTHING. A bass flute rendition of Christmastime is Here?!?!? Amazing!)
Our first visit to Parker Jazz Club was a remarkable one! I brought my wife here to celebrate our dating anniversary, and I wrote to the owner ahead of time in hope of getting it recognized so wife will feel special. What we ended up getting was far beyond what I expected! Not only did Kris (the owner) announced our anniversary to the whole audience, but also he dedicated two tunes to us and ended the show with an extra love song. It was a truly amazing experience to sit on the front seat and have the whole crew perform for you! Wife couldnt stop talking about how happy she was on our way home. Thank you Kris and the whole crew for the magical night and spectacular Jazz performance! We will remember this night for a long time!
I like the concept, cozy bar under the Capital Grille, but, unfortunately, it has a few flaws. First, they have put way too many tables in there. Even the wait staff was struggling to serve drinks. I shudder to think what would happen if there was an emergency. Secondly, while admittedly we only had one kind of cocktail, the mixed drinks werent done that well. Third, the food we got, cheese and meat tray, was literally bad. The meat smelt like vinegar and the cheese was dried out. Given the price we paid for everything, we expected better. And, to make matters worse, I noticed an erroneous second charge from them on my credit card. I wont be going back.
Liked the setting. Ladymay was awesome in her shows. Looked her integration with the crowd. In addition to the show, Chris, the other played as well. He showed his versatility with the tenor sax and clarinet. A good place to go relax and let the music Sooth your soul. For and drinks are decent. Actually, 4.6 rating.
Love it. The owner is on stage blowing horns and keeping it real while the audience soaks it up. I enjoyed the fact that there are multiple shows each night and they cycle through audience as the shows go on. It makes this a great mid way point. Come before or after whatever show youre aiming for. They can be your before or after party.
The club itself was awesomely amazing. The lighting/atmosphere was great. The waitresses were nice, and the Drinks were off the chain. What wasnt good were some of the COMEDIANS that was showing on 4/20. Especially the last act had no experience doing comedy. The only joke was when he got on stage. I or the people I invited will not be going back, which is too bad, because the club did look nice, too bad they hired bad entertainment. Especially for 420. Stay up
Preeminent music club of Austin. The house band on weekends is fantastic and owner Kris is very talented, engaging and charismatic. This is not the club if you’re bringing a group that wants to chit chat loudly as the musicians are the focal point. Reservations recommended. Great drinks and attentive staff. Glad they made it through the shutdowns and are thriving again.
My husband and I were visiting friends for the weekend who took us to see the house band. What a treat! The music was amazing. But the best part was the smiles on the faces of the musicians during sets - you can tell they really love what they do. Can’t wait to come back on the next trip to ATX.
I chose the Parker Jazz Club as a stop on my senior trip and it was well worth it! The music was top notch and the atmosphere was unmatched. Great and friendly staff and a lively and entertaining owner! The Parker Jazz Club should be at the top of your list if you are anywhere near Austin.
In love with this place. Jazz therapy on Tuesday nights so so amazing!!! Only 10 dollar entry (unless you work in healthcare or education, then it’s free!!!) please support this amazing establishment. Also to the musicians, please play the bass flute more often 😫 so incredibly beautiful.
Very intimate place that focus on the quality of sound with the energizing crowd experience..but not a sports type of energy. Parker loves what he does for a living. It is like a jazz class lesson on instruments that you can drink wine and adore your wife (or spouse or other) at the same time. I wish they had baritone or euphonium in jazz band. I love jazz music.
Excellent house band, put on a fantastic show. You can tell they really enjoy playing and are passionate about it. Great musicians all around. Venue has great sound quality and a very swanky vibe. The cocktails we had were both excellent and reasonably priced considering there was no cover on the night we attended. Look forward to going back next time we are in Austin.
We love this place and appreciate that the owners are pro musicians themselves. We feel super safe there. Great service from the hostess and waitresses. Music is always wonderful. We were there twice last week. Now that One World Theatre has been sold to a Comedian - Austin is wide open to bringing acts like RIck Braun, Dave Koz, Peter White, etc. Thank you again for keeping the music going, for the wonderful music every time we have been there. We will continue to support The Parker Jazz Club. Please keep up the great work. Dont change much except bring some more great acts like Aubrey (who was wonderful), and others like her. Austin is in dire need of a great Jazz Venue. You guys have the place. Bring the acts - the people will come. The shows will be sold out.
Fabulous jazz club! The atmosphere here is absolutely perfect (not dungeon-like as with some others in the area), the cocktails, small bites and service are great, and the musicians tonight - both the guest performers and the House Band - were stellar. Highly recommend checking it out if youre a jazz fan!
Great place to go for jazz. House musicians are top notch and they bring in other acts. Decor is appropriately jazzy and the service was very good. Wish they had more interesting wines by the glass though. Selections are pretty low end but at least the glassware is nice. Great addition to the Austin music scene.
Kris’s jazz club is named for his son, Parker. Kris entertained our intimate Tuesday night crowd with anecdotes and did so with such humility, you’d hardly know what a gem he’s opened here in Austin.Best of luck with Parker’s 1st grade year, and enjoy that motorcycle ride down Route 66, Kris. I’ll be at your club for another Jazz Therapy night when you return.
We enjoyed this place so much! Our son plays the trumpet so I called ahead and asked if we could bring him, they said we could, we reserved a table and we all enjoyed the show. It was like attending a party at someone’s house. Entertaining, fun, and oh! the music was just lovely. We’ll definitely return for more. Price is absolutely worth it!
One of the coolest experiences Ive had while in Austin, and definitely the best jazz bar Ive ever been to. The band is extremely talented and has a very unique vibe. I was able to sit front and center, and enjoy their entire set. The vocalist ( the owner ) can sound identical to Frank Sinatra or Nat King Cole. I will be planning a trip back to Austin just to come back to this club. The food was surprisingly good as well. I tried all the different variations of meatballs they had, and they might be some of the best Ive had.Side note: Theres someone in the reviews falsely claiming they were mistreated by the servers because they are minorities. The owner is Japanese and both of the servers I had were hispanic. Theres no racism going on in this place. All shapes, sizes, and colors welcome. You wont regret visiting Parker Jazz Club.
Very happy to find this place on a Wednesday. Kris Kimura and the house band were awesome. Great band, great club. Chatted with the sound man, who also did an amazing job. Everything about this place was about great music. Will definitely be back.Edit- we made it back Friday night for the late shift, last set of the night. Devan Jones & the Uptown Stomp played masterfully. A lot of great jazz, and some great blues too.Great place!
So I found this gem doing some research for my birthday. NEVER in my life have I had an experience quite like this place. I made reservations for a party of five. But a friend added some people last minute and they were more than accommodating. They played happy birthday to me and everyone sang. I never smiled so big. And the music itself was phenomenal. Truly an amazing joint. I will be coming back to the perfect little joint. And thank you to Chris the manager and owner for creating such an amazing atmosphere hidden here in Austin and for letting me be a part of it all. Thank you.
PLEASE support this venue. I am from out of town, but am an avid listener of jazz - so I decided to give this place a try. Every single one of my expectations were surpassed.- The venue is quaint and personal.- The staff was friendly and accommodating.- The atmosphere was everything you would expect to encounter when you are listening to jazz - foggy, dim, and relaxed. The audience was very respectful and very quiet; it was obvious that people were there to listen to music, rather than talk.- The music was fantastic. The set list ranged from smooth jazz to the wonderful bop of New Orleans style. The Kris Kimura quartet was exceptional and very comfortable on stage. Live music is even more enjoyable when you can see that the musicians are enjoying themselves - and these guys (without a doubt) enjoy performing.Im very idealistic when it comes to these things - so I often get my expectations too high. But its been a week since I visited, and I still cant stop thinking about it. It was a wonderful experience for my girlfriend and I. You wont regret attending the Parker Jazz Club.
Location is in the heart of downtown Austin keeping it an integral part of the live music and entertainment culture. The owner is a fantastic multi-instrumentalist who fronts the house band, as well as bringing in national and regional professional jazz artists. The staff is courteous and top notch, all with an eye for service. The venue is beautiful. The bar serves great drinks and food. The stage and space was specially built to sound great without sound engineering. But they also have an excellent sound system and fantastic sound engineers. I highly recommend spending your time, money, and attention at Parker Jazz Club!
We are local Austin residence and we went with another couple. Surprisingly, as much as we love music, we had never been there. What a treat. We go for the music and it did not disappoint. The Art Carvajal trio was excellent. All three of them are great musicians and presented well to the audience. In addition, the singer, Kenny Williams made for a wonderful evening. He was terrific also. All in all it was a relaxing evening with beautiful music. The venue itself is good for a jazz club and the service was good. We will go back soon.
This place is legit! Swanky yet laid back Austin vibe. Excellent service, tasty drinks, they even have a few snacks and desserts. It’s very cozy but plenty of space and not a bad seat in the house. The band was outstanding. We had the privilege of listening to the owner who is super talented. Do yourself a favor, whether you treat yo self or bring a date, it’s a night well spent!
One of the best, most intimate jazz club experiences I’ve ever had. Great, fast service. The owner is obviously very passionate about what he does and keeps the crowd extremely involved in the show. I want to go back to Austin just for this club. Kris, keep doing your thing- it was great meeting you!
The atmosphere and jazz music here are really great. They only serve cocktails, wine, liquor, beer, a variety of soda and juice and a selection of mini desserts, cheese and meat plates and other snacks. Once the show started, it was a little hard getting a server to refill glasses. It was nice to see people getting up to dance on the open floor in the back. We only stayed for one show (reservation includes both shows) but well definitely be back.
Jazz isnt really my thing, but I went here with a group. Very authentic hole-in-the-wall jazz club feel. The musicians were incredibly talented. Just keep in mind that a jazz club isnt really a social spot...the music is loud enough that if you talk over it, youd be interfering with the atmosphere of the venue.
I was in town for the weekend and was looking forward to enjoying some live jazz. My wife and I were sitting down for an hour (no exaggeration) and were never offered drinks or even approached by a waitress. Everyone around us were served. We were two of the only minorities in the club. We are from the west coast so maybe it is just the thing in Texas to not serve minorities. But I went to the bar to order our drinks and the bartender said they will be sent over. We waited 15 more minutes and still no drinks. So my wife went to the bar and re-ordered the same drinks. We waited another 8-12 min and decided to leave. The blond woman at the door was very professional and wanted to get us our drinks and make it right. The music was top notch and I really wish I could have stayed the entire night to enjoy it. If you or black (like myself) or islander (my wife) you are better off putting on some jazz at your hotel room.
Words cannot express the authenticity and genuine nature of this Jazz Club. Truly World Class! So thankful for Mr. Kris Kimura having the vision and a supporting wife to open a Jazz Club that supports the Arts. I speak as if I know him personally, I dont, but the experience I had with my lovely wife left me with the strongest impression of the heart of this establishment. Keep Calm and Jazz On! I will be back Mr. Kimura hope to meet you personally one day! Shout out to your house band Ryan Davis, Ben Triech, and Steve Bruch. Hope I spelled the names right!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
There are no words. I never even knew I liked jazz but this is hands down my favorite place to listen to music in Austin. The ambiance, the character, the charm, the talent..it’s something you can’t appreciate until you experience it for yourself. Just wow. The owner of this jazz club is living his dream and you can feel it the moment you walk in the door. Love love love!
Great later night jazz club vibe unlike any other area nightclub venue in Austin. Located underground and somewhat hidden from Central Downtown hustle and bustle there is always a great live band playing here. There is typically a $10 cover and you are seated around tables rather than having a dance floor. Highly recommend stopping by here after dinner downtown or a show at the Moody Theater
An excellent jazz space at Austin Texas. Very good music . Good drinks - a little expensive - and the jazz environment is wonderful. The place is not that big and I got there a little late so I was asked to leave but visually they could get a chair for me but they didnt. Well ... Its a good place anyway
This is a fantastic space with unbelievable talent! I had the pleasure of experiencing the Ryan Davis Trio. So much amazing talent! The acoustics in this space are beautifully balanced. Great job! I am grateful a clean and classy jazz space has finally arrived in Austin.Much gratitude Parker Jazz Bar. We will definitely be back! Xo
If you are a fan of jazz, and by that I mean you want to actually go to listen to the music, this is not the place for you. While the venue is nice and has great sound, the audience was purely there for a night out on town the Saturday we went. The noise level of the talking and partying was deafening, making it impossible to enjoy the music. Management needs to make an effort to contain the crowd noise. No other jazz club that Ive been to in the U.S. (and Ive been to many) would allow this. If you want another downtown Austin club to party at with jazz as a backdrop, youll like it....if youre a jazz fan, not so much.
Talented musicians, attentive service, comfortable venue, and delicious drinks! Wonderful new Jazz Club in Austin. Call for table reservations, but they also had open tables for those of us curious enough to stumble in. This underground joint has all you can ask for including an outdoor patio (which will be great when it warms up a bit), a full and creative cocktail/drink menu, and small plates. The Yard Bird, Parkers take on an Old Fashioned cocktail, was perfection.Watch out for this place. I think it will become a downtown staple for Austin for those of us who love jazz.
They really did this place right. The stage has three sides of acoustic foam to kill stray sound and render beautiful music to the audience. Cocktail tables start within a few feet of the stage to about 6 rows. The bar is in the far side from entry. The booze is good. They have some good little desserts and meat and cheese plates (havent samples them). Opening at 5:00 they need more food but its a club so ok. Come for the music first rate music venue.
I wish I could leave a comment without a rating because didn’t actually get to experience the club. Not because we didn’t want to, but because we were turned away, not once, but twice.Apparently there was a private event this evening, which is fine, BUT THERE WEREN’T ANY SIGNS OUT INDICATING THIS. They had an open door and we weren’t notified of a private event until we were halfway to the bar. The hostess told us that the event would be concluded within 30-45 minutes. We left and enjoyed ourself at another local bar and then returned in 45 minutes to enjoy the live music. However, when we returned we were turned away a second time and told to come back later. Once is fine, but twice is just bad business. We are now enjoying our evening at a different local jazz bar that had no problem accommodating a paying customer.
I have been in Jazz clubs in dozens of countries in 3 continents, and only The Jazz Bar in downtown Edinburgh might top Parker Jazz Club on atmosphere and respect for good quality traditional jazz.Go listen Kris Kimura playing his flute version of Cute, and you will know what I am talking about. These guys are no amateurs. Danny Sanchez is an absolute beast on the drums, and Ryan Davis can play absolutely any style on the piano without breaking a sweat. The Wasabi Big Band just blew me away. Last time I had this feeling of being moved and entertained was when I saw BB Kings Big Band in Madrid for the first time with another 20,000 people. And that is saying a lot, since that concert changed my musical life.I am lucky to live now in Austin to enjoy them every week. Keep doing what you do guys!
If youre looking for beautiful jazz, this is the spot. You can pay ahead of time but when I went on a Friday there was plenty of space. The house band is usually playing and each member brings something special to the number, which is just what I think good jazz is supposed to have.
The Parker Jazz Club is a hidden little gem.Kris Kimura’s homage to his young son is a musical love letter to the local Jazz scene. The vibe is warm and welcoming, musically familiar but at the same time always fresh. Run, don’t walk, to take in a set tonight at Parker’s.
I absolutely love this place. Went on Saturday dec 15th for only 10 bucks. They were swingin!!!. U couldnt find a performance like this in nyc for 10 bucks or less. Its a scene out of a movie I tell you. Perfect for dates, family and just plain old appreciation of jazz.

2022-04-02Parker Jazz club is a gem! Found them by accident when they first opened in 2018 and been attending shows every six months or so since. The environment is casual yet incredibly romantic with the low lighting and close tables. Drinks are delicious and I make a point to try new ones each visit. Looking forward to when they resume nibbles as the jazz supper club was a beautifully unique date night. The owner, Chris, is charismatic and the love he has for music and the house band, Ryan Davis trio, radiates from him. Make a date to go now, you’ll love it and wonder why it took you so long to go!

2022-02-20Such a wonderful experience! Hearing the story behind Parker Jazz Club made it an even more personal experience. Great music, story-telling, comfortable seats and great drinks. What a way to spend a Saturday evening.

2021-12-22Parker Jazz is the nicest Jazz establishment in the area. Great music and great artists come through this place. Make sure to reserve a table or get there early, seating is at a prime. But really the sound setup is great anywhere is a good seat.

2022-02-16My wife and I really enjoyed this place and the positive and loving energy the owner has for music and his wife. Down to earth good vibes that brings a smile to your face. Will definitely be coming back soon.

2022-04-06Really liked that we had a dedicated table and our own space. Late showing had about 15-20 people present and the musicians kept mentioning how small the crowd was, which hurt my experience and then the restaurant brought people off the street into the club and didnt charge them the $30/pp entrance fee to help fill the room. It was disruptive and frustrating paying $60 just to get in plus food and drinks just to keep getting distracted by latecomers and being verbally reminded that we werent appreciated even though we bought tickets and arrived early and were excited. Music was decent but definitely a museum of jazz instead of soul. Great for getting the wide breath of types of songs. Id recommend going to the 1st earlier show because they have more energy (we came and listened to the last few songs since we were early) and its fun! Or, dont waste your money and stand upstairs outside on a slow night during the late showing and save some bucks.

2022-03-15I love this store! It is so nice to have such a well-stocked, clean store so close to the beach and condos on the island. This store is not overpriced like they could be. They have fresh meats and produce, plenty of options, and the staff is friendly.

2022-03-06We were in Austin for few nights on a business trip. We googled to find a Jaz club nearby and we went to Parker Jaz Club. Ryan Davis Trio performance was fantastic. The service, drinks were great. I highly recommend this place.

2022-07-02I must admit, this is certainly the quintessential jazz club. Ive been to Jazz TX in San Antonio - and I think this club has it beat. The lighting and music was spectacular, at least on the night my sister and I went to hear Great American Standards. Ive been performing at venues around Austin for a few years, and I would certainly be delighted if I ever had the chance to play here. Service was great; our waitress was very friendly as well. Great selection of tunes - I was very impressed with Kris talent for playing multiple instruments.

2022-05-13The music is amazing. The musicians actually enjoy playing and you can feel their music. I am a musician (pianist) of 30 years. These guys express their music.I do not drink alcohol, but I was given a taste of one of their drinks that smelled and tasted smoky. Very delicious.Surprisingly, the pizza was as good as the one in New York. Service is amazing. I have returned twice and I am planning to come back again.

2022-02-19Wonderfully talented and entertaining musician/owner has thought of absolutely everything. From acoustics to musicians, lighting, craft cocktails and wonderful ambiance, Parker Jazz Club feels like the best NYC venue, right here in downtown Austin. Diverse crowd from young to old, every seat is a great seat and the finest service anywhere all make this my favorite club in the nation. Do yourselves a favor and take your sweetie or friends to Parker Jazz Club for an unforgettable evening. Youll be so happy you did!
