Picked up feeder fish for our tank. Cashier let us know they only had .36 cent feeder fish, so we knew what to expect. Associate that actually got the fish didn’t quite count to 10. Associate helped us with a toy that our shepherd could not destroy. Cashier was very friendly and efficient.
I really hate this store. I drive an extra 20 minutes to go to Petsmart by my work because I have yet to come to this store or order from this location without an issue and an attitude. I’ve tried online pickup, but even when I only order one item, they still get it wrong. I have yet to have issues with Petsmart or the Petco location near Round Rock, so I’d avoid this location go to those.
Amazing selection but thats its only redeeming quality. 2 staff gave me a nasty looks when i tried to move past one of them in an aisle and when i was checking out. The bathroom hasnt had a deep clean in such a long time there were cobwebs under the sink and in the corners, along with that theres no toilet paper in the dispenser, along with no paper towels in its container. There was some toilet paper on the counter, that got wet and disgusting, plus the womens bathroom door does not lock properly
When i went to petco i got very good vibes until i made my way to the animal section. the fish area is basically a graveyard with dead fish and the animal cages where dirty but good help and they dont realy let you get many fish even if you do have a proper tank to house them
I got fish it was $6.48, I had $7 and was informed they would round it up and donate it to the local shelter because of the change shortage. When I disagreed and said I had shopped in several other stores and got change and I shouldnt be punished for them not having the tools they need, they should round down. I didnt get the fish, based on principle, dont strong hold customers because a few accepted it. I did speak to the manager Dorrel(sp?)and he was receptive to my opinion, he also told me in cases like this they round down , its a learning experience for sure! I could have driven to Austin but I think its important to shop and spend locally.
Didnt have a good stock of Fresh Pet refrigerated dog food. I called to make sure they had it. The guy on the phone couldve easily said theyre running low, what am I needing to buy. They werent busy when I arrived 10 mins later. Everyone was wandering around looking miserable.
The employees are awesome they truly love pets and thats awesome when you get to sit in there and talk to them about it cuz I lost my 18 and a half year old dog about 4 months ago and it kills me but to watch the way they interact with everyone else is beyond awesome kudos be blessed.
Little disappointed with the service because I could tell the lady didnt know what to tell me. When provided with a better light option for my bearded dragon was told it came with bulb. Unfortunately that was incorrect and waiting for bulb to come in the mail. They need better in-store selection.
Ive been coming here to shop for my dog and cat for a long time now.Lately the people who work here were just mean, and rude, not friendly,Has a bad attitude, I think Im done shopping here now.I dont think I will ever be back.Lately everything has been a disappointment and just a bad turn out
My local Bastrop Texas Petco has the WORST automatic door sensor of any business in the entire town. If you approach the front door at an average walking pace, you are surely to inadvertently ram the glass. The doors will not begin to open until you are within 12” of the threshold and only after a discernible delay. Though this complaint may sound petty and inconsequential, it is in the least, extremely inconvenient and at most, potentially dangerous. It all comes down to customer experience. When I enter a business, with the intent to spend my hard earned money, I expect to be welcomed and greeted with kindness. Before I even make it into your store, your slow moving door personifies a reluctant bouncer begrudgingly permitting me access only to make my biweekly installment on my dog food debt. It is the one thing that is guaranteed to spoil my visit to this location, and it happens every single time. The only reason that I even back is the price and weight of my favorite dog food. If I were to ever find competitive prices in my area, your business would never earn another dollar of mine; Petco Pal or not
Have purchased numerous fish from Bastrop tx. Store, too many times have introduced your fish to an established tank only to soon lose not only your fish, but others Ive had for awhile, the associates, when you can find one, are either telling you their not sure, or lecturing you on what fish you should or shouldnt buy. The pet inventory, other than mice was empty! Made me consider your companys solvency! Sorry wont shop here anymore!
They finally got rid of all the bad dog food and treats and got all healthy food for our furry friends. Im so happy I do t have to order my dogs food on line anymore. And they have his favorite treats too.the staff is very friendly and the stories easy to navigate to what your looking for.
I placed an online order for same day delivery and were in Houston now and not Smithville. Apparently the address didnt save properly. Anyhow, I called and DYLAN (sorry if I spelled it wrong), was AMAZING! He fixed my problem in less than 2 minutes and was great about it!KEEP DOING A GREAT JOB DYLAN!
I mean, I like the people that I come in contact with in Petco but price wise....I can get more crickets for less money at a lil mom and pop pet store less than a mile away!!! So Petco gets 3 stars cause they ober price their stuff, but their staff is through the roof phenomenal!!!
Went in to purchase, Andis clippers. They had a great set and the lady in training was fast to help and a great price!! Customer service on the aquatic center could use some help. After a misunderstanding between the original sales woman and I had over shrimp, Bree was extremely rude and condescending!! The recovery from my original sales woman was a saving grace, but Ill be happy to drop hundreds on equipment for the farm elsewhere.
The store has a good selection of supplies and pets. I have bought lots of fish and supplies over the years from them. Most with very good results. This location tends to be a little under staffed most of the time. It takes some time to get help if you need it. However most of the time they are very friendly when they come to help and there is normally someone there with good knowledge.
Cost for care is reasonable. The amount of staff and help, not so much. YES everyone is super nice and always willing to help. Their customer care is great. But honestly everytime Ive been there to purchase feeder fish i have to wait an exceeded amount of time, i dont complain but i think its important to have enough staff to help.Now today i realize we have this whole CVID thing going on. I get it, I work in the animal field too. But Ive sat in my truck since 550 pm. I understand the curbside protocol. But Ive called twice to this facility, im on a long hold 5 mins (each call, because i called twice), no answer and at the end of 5 mins the system hangs up. I understand we have protocols to handle. And i know i should come earlier but working in the vet field i usually would get my fish after 6pm bc my office closes at this time. So its very difficult to come right at closing to get items i need for my eel.Wish there was another way around this but these times are difficult and there should atleast be a courtesy to have someone at least answer the phone. If a call to be answered is just letting me know that they cant help me, i would have been okay, but the fact the system just hangs up on you after holding for so long is just upsetting and frustrating.
Great service, knowledgeable staff. We had just purchased two ball pythons, and we went in to get supplies. We were given all the care information we needed, and the reptile expert sexed them for us. The staff were eager to assist us, and very happy to discuss caretaking procedures and important information.
My daughter recently lost her hamster. We went on Saturday to Petco to look for another small rodent pet. John was AMAZING! He took his time with her, allowing her look at several different hamsters and the mice - multiple times. She was having a difficult time choosing. He was patient and very knowledgable, answering all of our questions. His attention and customer service on Saturday were the best Ive had anywhere in a very long time! Thank you, John!
There was no staff in this store to help me. This place is understaffed and I had to wait 30 minutes to be helped. Always out of stock and have to search high and low for what I need. When you do get help the staff treat you rudely are they act very unprofessional. The cashiers treat you awful and they act like they dont want to be there. I suggest everyone go to another store. I wish you could give a zero rating. I hope management gets changed and this place shapes up.
There is a thing called customer service, and there is many ways to give this gesture of appreciation. There was a sweet lady who helped me with to stray kittens who would have been given to the street if, I hadnt taken them in. Now them service she provided was greatly appreciated and very much a help, as I am a dog lover. Thank you for your outstanding balance of help and happiness without you, they may not of had the best care.
Clean store, knowledgeable staff, and a good selection of reptiles & rodents for a small town shop. Just wish they were not so proud of their products. Just once I would like to go in one of their stores without going broke on the way out or having to wait for the bargain bin like a broke buster.
There are many choices for pet food and I like that. However, I was also looking for a cute harness and leash for my new female 4 month old shih Tzu and didnt find anything. But I havent found anything at any other store or on the internet either. I may have to design my own!
The store in Bastrop is always well stocked and extremely clean. I personally was shopping for a friend fish for my male betta. The guy was helping another lady that took forever it seemed. Talked and talked. Once he finally got to me he was very nice, friendly and knowledgable about the fish and department. Just way to talkative for me. He could be helping other folks if hed just do his job and go on.I am pleased with the store and will go back. There seems to be a high turnover in employees. New folks every time I go there but to their defense i get there about once every 6 months.I recommend.
I went for some fish in my pond but while I was there I saw the saddest parrot ever. It was 650 bucks and it was just obviously depressed. I spoke to a friend of mine who has parrots about buying it just because it was so sad and my friend said that if I bought it another one would take its place and the suppliers are monsters. I think I wont go there anymore.
Went in the store to look around. Fish tanks were dirty, but what was horrible was the cat adoption center. All the cat pens were filthy. Cat boxes looked liked they havnt been cleaned in a week or so. The smell was disgusting. Poor cats would live better on the streets. Dont these idiots know people can get sick from this?
Cashier charged me twice for two of my items (one at the begining of the ticket and one towards the end) thankfully I noticed it and asked her to correct the ticket. With an attitude She corrected the ticket then I noticed she was charging me again for another item. I asked her to please ring my items again on a separate ticket because at that point the ticket was a mess. She said she had to call her manager but the manager was busy. Instead of ringing my items at the register next to her. She decided to help the customers that were in line behind me. Horrible service, I felt unimportant and disrespected. I will never go to this place again.
This location is always pretty well stocked in app but rescue cats and dogs (not necessarily a bad thing given the low local population numbers of Bastrop).The facilities are clean and the staff are genuinely helpful and kind. You can tell theyre all animal lovers here.While there arent many cats and dogs, they have plenty of small animals, birds and fish in stock.
Grooming services are poorly managed at this location. They consistently have trouble with their computer system and cant pull up records so you have to keep shot records on you. Today, although the website says hours are until 6 they mopped at 430 so they werent taking anyone and they decided they would close at 5. I believe Ill try the newest pet store in town. Service cant be any worse. I guess the grooming is only as good as the management. Too bad....b expected more from a national chain.
I took my dog in for a grooming. His regular groomer no longer works there, so he got another one. After 3 hours I got a call they had cut his tongue and had stopped the bleeding. They also would not continue the grooming and I needed to pick him up. I went immediately and thegroomer and the manager repeated the story. I took him home immediately, could not find anything wrong with his tongue thankfully and he ate and drank and licked with his usual energy. What they didnt tell me was the 4 razor burns, one of which is worse the second day. The area around his neck had 3 cuts clear to his skin. The 4th razor burn was on his shoulder. It was the lying and omissions that really decided me to write this. I mean, mistakes can happen, but not the horrible haircut and razor burns and not the lies and omissions.
Took me 10 minutes to find someone to help me. Finally had to interrupt an employee asking a customer where she was from and chatting away. The employee gave me a dirty look for interrupting but I had no other choice. Two employees were helping a customer at the checkout. All I wanted to know was where the frisbees were. The employee finally finished up chatting and told me they have been sold out. I left with nothing but a desire never to stop at this Petco again .
When I bought my guppy’s they told us we had a 30 day policy to bring it back for a new fish if they die. Well I bought my fish on a Sunday and by Monday ONE died. Mind you we got 3 ... We went back to return the dead fish .. unfortunatley i didn’t have my receipt so they told us we coulny get a replacement $2 dollar fish.That’s fine. We leftI found my receipt and came back to get my new fish. Well now ANOTHER associate told us we aperently need a sample of the water so that they can test the water for neumonía . So they made us waste GAS AND TIME for a $2 dollar fish. Not only did they waste my time but the MANAGER Was extremely rude. If I could give 0 stars I would.
My mom had her fully grown standard poodle bathed and blown out there and they wanted to charge us $10 more to dry her. We didn’t trust them to groom her so that’s why we just wanted a bathe and blow out. When we went to pick her up she was still wet. Her hears Werner completely dry and she was damp in most places. When you say you can do something get it done. I won’t be taking my moms dog there again. I can bathe and dry her completely. I just wanted to give them a chance and they didn’t meet my expectations.
I have tried to give this place multiple chances. I will never go back to them.The first time I tried to take emy dog to get her nails clipped and painted I called up @ 5pm and asked what time they closed, She told me 6. So I told her great Id be there in just a sec. Well I get there and guess what they just decided to close the grooming dept hour early because she didnt want to work. I decided to try them again.....my husband took our dog in and wanted to get paint and nails clipped. The same woman said she had the right to refuse service and that she didnt want to take our dog. So he went to talk to a manager and the managers were too busy to talk to him and so he called corporate and guess what they still havent called us back.
Not much of a fish selection or what the Austin locations have and the young man who was helping me to get some new fish wasnt as knowledgeable as he thought he was and being wrong is the worst time to argue with someone. I have had fish tanks of a varieties my entire life beginning with my mothers and Im no spring chicken. So, I had to keep my cool and attempt to educate him. Still didbt listen. So, Ill stick with Austin from now on or maybe petsmart
Petco has a wide variety of pet supplies for animals however they usually only sell pets like birds,fish, turtles, lizards, snakes, and ferrets, and small rodents. Occasionally they have dogs and cats in their adoption area. They also offer grooming services and you can usually find what your looking for in this store.
I wish there was a lower rating I could give. After making the appointment I was told to bring proof of rabie shot and the lady hung up I was talking . So I called back to tell them my dog was just turning 6 months old and that my vet told me to wait till my dog was 6-7 months old to give him hes rabie shot why I dont know. He just turned 6 months today and his vet appointment is not till next week. The lady told me that was find just to bring 2 proof of shots. So I did and I drove the next day for his appoinment just to get told why they couldnt groom him after i was told it was fine the day before. Thats not the part that got me upset. The lady I had spoken with the day before denied ever telling me anything or even talking to me even after I showed management the phone call. I will Never again drive 50 mins to this or any other petco location.
Well, I have 2 Bearded Dragon (A type of lizard)and I always go by the baby Beardies to see them for a few mins. , and let me just say that some of the workers there are really lazy with the lizards maybe because of what animal that they are but an animal is an animal.Some time I go to find them dead, unfead or no watered diss PetCo. but,they suck in that department or at least in bastrop. I am 12 and if I take better care of MY lizards then they should be able to thake care of theres. And if you dont take my word for it then go look yourself.
Please take better care of the fish.every time I go to purchase fish the tanks are dirty and they have dead fish in them.please fix this problem as you are only place that sells fish in Bastrop.We have lots of money tied up in our tanks at Home to be buying contaminated sickly fish.Thank you

2022-06-06I am so livid 😡 I can’t believe it!!!!! The Bastrop store had quickly become a favorite since I had to move out here 6 months ago. Personnel had always been friendly and do whatever they could to help with you find whatever you went in looking for. Some days better than others but always helped. Today was a total horrid experience. I have been waiting for the truck to come in since last Thursday for my dogs food to come in, changed to come in Saturday night. They weren’t open early enough for me to stop by in morning so I had to haul a** after work to make it before they closed, with that said I realize logistics are bad I work with logistics that’s not the point…They REFUSED To sell me a few cans to hold us over until I could swing by again on Tuesday, lady in charge said “because they hadn’t been technically received yet”!!! Geez as much money as I spend there you would think they’d want to keep my business and all the people I USED TO promote them too… time to go back driving to Tomlinson’s or even Petsmart🤦🏻♀️

2022-06-09A little in the pricey side, but thats normal for Petco. Customer service was excellent. I was able to return an item almost immediately and got my refund a day later.
