Strange experience with the checker, person w/glasses - short hair, they would murmur as they spoke and paid more attention to me as I was in there - than the other customers. Unsure if they disklike Hispanics/Mexicans or those with Portuguese bloodlines - but its strange as the previous visit to another Austin Petsmart - the phone # I gave provided customer info (for checker to confirm), the name....is where my impressions were set - its not easy to pronounce - however the checker was very strange on two fronts - first if they were unable to pronounce the (last) name, then - nonrhetorically - would they need to confirm this, as they struggled to - they smirked as they visibly had facial stress to pronounce - do they realize Texas has 50+% Hispanic / Mexican population? Why emberrass yourself if you cannot pronounce...especially when you cannot put the phone # in correctly, the first time..(?) , they also attempted to feign a large-deep (authoritative) voice...they did not have a heavy voice ringing up other customers...I was shopping for items very nearby. Strange Experience and Unsettling.
I give this 2 stars b/c I can get food for my dog here and they have a variety of food and it was cheaper and easy to order online. As far as services such as bathing and grooming I will never take my dog here again. The first time I took him there they added on a service fee that they offer u but they dont tell you it is an additional charge until u go to check out and its there. And they second time I took my dog there they cut him with the clippers and didnt tell me. I found out when I went to go pet him and I noticed an open cut. I was not happy and expressed myself to the manager and he gave me a refund. Its not the fact that he was cut I understand accidents happen, but it was hidden and not passed on to me.
This store neglects their fish. When I went, the poor bettas’ cups were full of dirty water, and some of them were dead in their cups. I was hoping to find the fish tanks in better condition, but they were filthy too. I went in wanting to purchase some neon tetras to add to my tank, but I did not feel comfortable bringing home fish that were probably sick from living in such horrible conditions. I also don’t want to support a store that is going to treat their fish so inhumanely.
2 stars because of the early Halloween 🎃 stuff, but hey who cares that there are overcrowded tanks full of dead fish and even a dead fish on the floor. Shame on you for thinking that its OK to treat living creatures like that. Imagine being stuck in an already overcrowded room full of dead people.
Easy to find, plenty of parking outside.Staff friendly and efficient and helping.To me it looks like this place stocks everything! Fish tank selection is limited and perhaps a little expensive. Good selection of fish though, including the 17 cent goldfish!Also sells live crickets for lisards etc..Im sure Ill be back there at some point picking up some pet food or supplies.
I cant say enough good things about this grooming salon. I showed up today and was told Id actually scheduled for tomorrow, which was an accident. They took my dog in anyway. She has severe allergies and the moisturizing products they use really help. They upgraded us to those and gave her a nail grind at no extra charge. They genuinely care about pets, not just making money. Thank you so much, TJ!
Petsmart is the best option when I have an emergency and I have to leave my dog like the same day without a previous reservation. This was my first time at this location and it was really good. The front desk associate was super friendly. They didnt have one record of vaccination and didnt received because his fax machine wasnt working but I got it and show it to them and it was fine. My dog enjoyed his day camp and that makes me happy. My only recommendation is that they should have cameras available for the customers to see how and what our dogs are doing.
I normally dont write reviews but feeling like your pets aren’t cared for or even discriminated against is an unsettling feeling leaving me wanting to warn other pet parents too. I called about boarding for my 2 dogs, 1 is a medium sized mixed breed with bad anxiety and the other is a large american bully. I was informed because i have a pitbull that “by law” he has to be separated even from the dog he lives with in case something happens, according to them. The lady on the phone (i didnt catch her name) said “some people train their pitbulls to be aggressive”. I asked what the exact law was and she didn’t have an answer stating “I dont know. My desk is a mess and it would take 10 minutes to find. Its just a Texas thing” then never told me, even though other online boarding facilities in Texas online state family pets can stay together. She then proceeded to see if front desk can make an exception since my smaller dog has anxiety, but if it was an actual law there would be no exceptions and other boarding facilities in the same city wouldnt publish otherwise online. I immediately closed this inquiry off and refuse to board my pets in a place where I KNOW they will be treated differently just off their breed alone. So disappointing
I live less than 1/2 mile from another PetSmart location but drive out of my way to come to the Brodie location specifically for the grooming department. After a few not so great grooming experiences, I booked my first appointment with Casey. I have a VERY energetic 2 year old standard schnauzer that Casey does a wonderful job grooming. I am one of those obsessive dog owners...but I feel completely comfortable leaving my little guy at this location for a few hours to get groomed. Casey is always honest to me about how the grooming went, and incredibly kind do my little guy. There is absolutely no place else I would take my dog. Thank you guys for having such incredible employees!The picture attached is Sifu leaving his last grooming appointment without a worry in the world; happy as could be!
Worst experience ever!! So rude and didn’t help at all. Staff was annoyed with me asking for pet advice as if it isn’t their job. The “pet expert” didn’t know anything and was so quick to rush off and do a bunch of nothing while I spent over 300 dollars on a reptile. Not to mention the same pet expert with her snobby attitude gave me a bunch of dead crickets when they were supposed to be “live”. Never again at this location.
Horrible experience with grooming. I dropped off my dog at 8am and was told 4 hours. They had my dog for 4 hours and no one called to communicate so I arrived after 4 hours. It has never taken more than 2-3 hours to bath, cut and furminate my dog. The associate was very annoyed that I arrived at 4 hrs and proceeded to be very rude and just me tons have excuses. All I needed was communication.
Came to this pet smart to try to get my furbabys some treats, nice store but employees were rude one specific was at a register caucasian tall white man on the heavier side was very rude over a price match and didnt want to give a bag for items i had, over 7 items and he tried to hand them all to me separetly to be petty. Would never come here again!!!
Pet hospital/DrWent in yesterday to pick up meds for my Frenchie.When we called the lady said it would be $61 and when I got there the lady said it was $10 more the price had gone up?!?In just the 30 mins it took me to get there it raised.To top it off she was rude!!!Makes me wanna stop going there
I adopted a 2 year old pointer/lab mix, less than a month ago. Hes very shy and shaky around people he doesnt know and Im not sure if hes ever had any professional grooming. I took him to PeySmart Sunset Valley where I was greeted by Roger. Oh my gosh, he was excellent! I told him the quick adoption story and he didnt at all seem worried. He took Milo back to complete a nail grind and ear flush. Ten minutes later he was done and gave a great review of how calm Milo was! His demeanor and sincere vibe calmed me so much! He was excellent and I will definitely request him for future grooming needs for Milo! Great job Roger! Milo and I appreciate you!
Guess I should have read the reviews before visiting this location for my dogs grooming appointment. I have been getting my dog groomed at my local spot back home for 8 years. But apparently Austin doesn’t have the same vibe I would expect state to state. Dropped my dog off early and told the groomer about him, he is normally the most loved dog when getting handed off because he is so well behaved! 4 hours later I showed up and he was miserable and looked horrible. The girl had such an attitude saying he wasn’t a “happy camper” Do yourself a favor and take your dog elsewhere because they don’t enjoy there job clearly. Do it for the love of dogs! Won’t be back ever again
I took my dog here to get groomed. The appointment was early and I told them all about him. I told them how I wanted him cut, how hes been great at other groomers. Other groomers like at Petco have had nothing but good things to say about my pup so I wasnt worried at all. When I got him back 4 hours later, he looked miserable and his cut was awful. They told me he was too scared, that he pooped all over the place, that he wouldnt let them trim in some spots. I took him in at his appointment time, but they put him in a queue for three hours and finally got to him on the fourth. I was desperate to get him groomed, but Ill never be this desperate again. Im never coming back here.
The only thing this place could do to improve is to hire more staff. Pretty much everyone who works there is nice, but especially if you want things in the reptile and fish area you have to wait for somebody sometimes for quite a while. They often short on cashiers as well. They probably need to pay better.
We’ve been going to PetSmart for the past 7 years - taking our Shetland Sheepdogs (i.e., Shelties) for washes and occasional cuts. While we’ve generally had good experiences, our go-to groomer left PetSmart and we made the mistake of trusting a new groomer with our dog. The groomer’s name was Rachel and it was a nightmare. The worst experience we’ve ever had with grooming altogether. We couldn’t even recognize our dog when we picked her up. She went from being a Shetland sheepdog to looking like a “shiba inu” - a completely different breed. Honestly, the only logical explanation for this oversight was that the groomer either got the breeds confused or is flat out incompetent. I am certain it is latter based on my interaction with her.Please note that this is not just a concern about how our dog looks. Shetland Sheepdogs are supposed to have their coat at a certain length in order to keep their bodies at a healthy temperature—and not overheat when it’s hot. In other words, if you cut their hair too short you can put their health at risk given they won’t be able to cool down. In addition, this type of mistake will leave their coat patchy and is unlikely to grow back the way it looked before. We now have to wait about a year or more to determine how detrimental this negligent mistake will be to her coat and health.Unfortunately for us, not only did Rachel cut her hair too short, she took it a step further by using trimmers and giving her a buzz cut. It is very commonly known (by actual professionals) you should not use trimmers on double coat fur. We are beyond angry since as this may impact the health of our dog.We won’t be going back to PetSmart for grooming services ever again.I would be very very careful with which groomer you choose to cut your dogs hair.
Had to return an unused cone today. Girl at register asked me if there was something wrong with it. I replied “my dog passed away before I could use it”Zero change in her expression. Went on to ask my name and info for the return and that was it.I am completely shocked that someone in a pet store did not even have the decency to say “I’m sorry” or something to that matter.I will NEVER again shop at this store again! (Brodie Lane was my usual one).
Extremely disappointed in the grooming department. We will not be going to this facility ever again. My husband walked into the grooming department and saw a pup being mistreated. Also today we wanted are sweet pup to be groomed and we were told they have to shave him or we can take him home and brush him. We were completely shocked because we are paying for a service and they did want to do it. I called to talk to the young lady who was going to groom my pup and I told her that she was rude and that we wanted to cancel the appointment. I also asked to talk to the manager Daniel, she started raising her voice at me and being extremely disrespectful. She was supposed to put me on mute to call the manager, which she did not and I heard her yelling and talking mess. I was super upset at this point. While talking to Daniel he was professional but his excuse for her behavior was that “she is just blunt” . I know first hand working in customer service is hard. But you have to be sweet and charismatic.
I took my dog in for grooming as I have done before. In April 2020 I showed PetSmart my 3yr. Rabies vaccine for my pet. When I took my dog in today, they wanted to see the rabbies paperwork again. I asked why if it says my dog was vaccinated in April 2020, which they confirmed was in there computer. I have heart issues and kidney failure so walking back out to my truck to retrieve paperwork Ive already shown them is a terrible strain because of my health. When I returned, I pointed to the dates on my paperwork and the little disrespectful young person abruptly told me to calm down. I was in no way rude, never raised my voice, only asked if to they could COUNT! To treat an elderly person who is terminally ill with such disrespect is unforgivable! She kept telling me to not raise my voice at her, which I didnt. All I said was...Can you count, then she right walks off. Another clerk came to help but I told him after seeing the attitudes of their employees, I would never leave my dog with them as I could never trust them to treat my dog with kindness if they cant treat a human being with kindness. Think twice before taking your pet here to be groomed. PetSmart just lost a life long customer!
I was extremely disappointed in my dogs grooming today, we have two that weve take to this location for 7 years. My youngest girl although not very well behaved, still learning as shes young has been to them since her first puppy cut. She returned home with uneven shear marks and her face and legs were very badly unfinished. I dont groom my dogs myself preferring to leave that to the professionals, however I had to complete her face and even out the shear marks left which were extremely noticeable. I know the employees try their best, but may be patience is in order. It may be time to find another groomer.
I have been a customer of the grooming salon off and on for 15 years and brought two dogs there. They’ve seen some good groomers and one we even followed to Woofgang until she moved. Then I get booked with Taya. That’s where my experience with Petsmart grooming (and this entire store specifically) will come to an end forever. The first time she was off putting, but I gave her a chance. The cut was decent so I figured I would try again. I hesitantly rebooked and this time she was absolutely strange and wouldn’t see my dog because they didn’t keep his rabies certificate the last time I took him- which was 3 days after his vaccine and they couldn’t see him unless he had it of course. I had it on my phone and she refused. Avoid Taya if you want to avoid drama!
I wouldnt not recommend the Doggie Day camp service.. our dog is a Pitbull but hes really friendly with people and other dogs but instead of letting him play with them he was kept in a seperate Kennel with a board saying Monitor Me... What are we paying them for? They should have tried him with others dogs. This is discrimination of dogs 😂
As always, I went in to get Stoneys prescribed food and met with friendly, helpful folks!! Also to get high protien kitten food for Izzie my 10 mo new baby momma kitty. Kat was very friendly and informative about nursing mommas !!I got several different flavors to try on Izzie since she is a picky eater. Kat suggested several different kinds to try and offered to exchange the unopened cans, Izzie wouldnt eat for the ones she would eat!!I highly recommend PetSmart! Theyve got GOOD people working for them!!!
Please see my comment on the experience review. I have complimented Petsmart to other animal lovers and will continue to do so. As stated, I feel sure the great return policy was on hold due to the dreadful virus everyone is dealing with at this time. Was also very dismayed at the news yesterday that cats and maybe other pets are susceptible to this virus. I hope pet owners will be extra vigilant about protecting their beloved pets.
Never had a problem with this location until now. I made an appointment online for my dog to be groomed for 2:30 today. Received a confirmation number and email for my appointment. I arrive to the store and they tell me there is no appointment under my name. Instead of trying to rectify the issue they proceed to tell me they don’t know what wrong between the system and if I called in I would be guaranteed an appointment. What is the point of booking an appointment online?!
Absolutely fantastic experience, everyone that we spoke and dealt with were very patient, compassionate and kind. They took the time to make sure that our puppy was well taken care of. Our dog was a rescue dog that has been physically and mentally abused and we were very concerned about boarding her. We did not want her to think that she had been abandoned again. all the staff went beyond my expectations and gave me updates regarding our doggie. Myself and my wife are extremely pleased that we picked at location.We will have no hesitation in going back. Great job well done.
Im not usually impressed with big name stores like this, but both the store and the grooming center were fantastic. The store was clean and tidy with friendly and helpful staff. The groomers did a wonderful job with Mt long haired border collie. I will definitely be returning for my pet needs
The people are usually friendly, but UNRELIABLE ON THE PHONE. Im incredibly frustrated with them at the moment. I have lizards and theres a cricket shortage right now... Twice in the last month Ive called ahead and asked if there were any available, both times I was told, yes. Well, both times they were actually out, and today I was on the phone with an employee 10 minutes before arrival, sat on hold for 4 minutes while she made sure they were available, then when I got there I was told theyd been out for 2.5 hours. I find this incredibly problematic, but maybe its just me... 😕. The store itself is good though, its clean and has lots of reptile products despite the lack of food.
Overall, I believe the caretakers took good care of my cat to the best of their abilities. The only reason why Im not scoring a perfect 10 is because my cat may have caught a virus while staying at the pet hotel there because my cat was sneezing a lot the day after I brought him home but hes now feeling mostly well again.
This is a posting for Petsmart in General, not this specific Store, although my specific issue now is via this store. (Sunset Valley).I received an email for 10 bucks off over Labor Day weekend if you spent over 50 bucks. I did but never got a coupon or email or anything. So I called the store and they told me it was a glich in the email system and I would be e-mailed the coupon. That never happened so I called subsequently called back and they directed me to Corporate. I called them and was on hold for a good 20 minutes and disconnected, called back and waited another 20 minutes before finally getting through.They said I should have been emailed a 10 dollar certificate, and they would send it out right away.That was a week ago. Im on hold right now for about 10 minutes and not happy about it. I dont need the ten bucks that bad, but I dont like getting screwed.Also, I had a couple of curbside pickup orders that were a Cluster-F at this store. Never got notification on one, on another It was 24 hours after the order and when I called to see what was up, an associate told me the order - a very simple order - hadnt been picked yet. So I asked for the manager and he told me it was. So I was able to pick it up.With my experience at the Barbara Jordan store, I did a curbside pickup of 3 items, and they left one of them out! I live 20 minutes away, but they had the one item the other stores didnt, and I had to drive back to get it after I called and they told me they inadvertently left it out.
Daniel is the BEST groomer! My little rescue dog is so very picky about who she even lets near her, just a small handful, but from the start she and Daniel have bonded. She will hug him around the neck when he holds her and he is the only one she is comfortable with going to. He always has a great attitude and shes always happy to see him. We absolutely love him
Last visit to this store the line went all the way back through the first isle around the dog outfits and continued to the middle of the store I understand distancing and that the line looked longer, but not having more than one checkout lane open was clearly the problem. I had to leave and return about 2 hours later to witch the line was still very long as there was still only one checkout open. What really bugged me was I watched the manager look at the line and make a face of gosh thats a long line and then continued on without helping. Which a regular associate did as well. I assume they did not have the proper training to operate the checkout. They were not currently helping another customer so its hard to see why nether one would have opened another checkout. No one should have to wait in line for 30min to buy dog food!!!!! The store has about 7 checkout lanes that I have never once seen more than 2 being used. If this continues I will be bringing my business elsewhere
This is a review of the grooming section. I got the 73 dollar package and have zero complaints with the way my dogs groom came out.Communication with the obviously overwhelmed staff was a struggle. Asked four times on arrival if Ive been helped but apparently only my dogs assigned groomer could check me in. Even though she was busy, and the people whom asked didnt offer to help her or me any further. Told my dog would be around four hours. Called to check in on her around 3:30 as this was her first groom not done at home and was told and hour to an hour and a half more. Some how in that conversation ?Sara? On the phone assumed I didnt want a call when she was done. Which left my dog prone to anxiety and stress, and previous rescue whose never been left in a crate not in the safety of her own home locked up for over an hour before I decided just to show up to get her.The staff is obviously overwhelmed and needs help or a better system.Again groom was great as was groomer (meghan) other service was stressed and underwhelming.
This review is specifically for the Groomers and Vet clinic inside PetSmart. Both experiences have been extremely positive. The vets inside are pros and identified some patterns in my dog that would have normally called for a lot of tests that already had been done.The groomers were also extremely professional and took extra care with my pups.
I went to Petsmart to purchase some equipment because I was interested in adding a Fishtank to my classroom for my students. The cashier at the counter went out of his way to make sure I got the best deal when I was checking out. He was amazing. He truly went above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely be returning to this location. 👍🏻
Eden in the grooming Clinic PetSmart Brodie Lane, is Amazing! She has been grooming my corgi/collie for over 3 years & my pet is usually nervous to be groomed (as most are) but as soon as she sees Eden she relaxes & is so happy which always makes me feel better about her being there. Eden does such a good job too. Very thorough. The entire staff at this location is wonderful. Well-informed & helpful. They price compare with competitors. Loyal customer.
This review is for the PetsHotel --we used to board our dog at one in MA and loved it but in Austin have been using a local place thats closer. But when they were all booked up a few weeks ago we tried this PetsHotel on Brodie and it was a wonderful experience! Very busy at drop off since it was a weekend but staff was patient and friendly and treated our dog very gently. Most importantly we can tell shes happy and had a good time! Very much worth the drive.
I recently took my Yorkie to get groomed at the Grooming salon at this Petsmart. Amber was the groomer and I was very impressed with her customer service. I told them what I thought that I wanted, but I really didnt have a firm idea of what that was. When I returned to pick up my dog, she had done the cut like I asked her to, but she recommended I go shorter to blend the coat better, but she didnt want to do it without checking with me first. I agreed and she stopped what she was doing to do an on-site re-cut right there. It was an extra 15 min, but it was worth the wait; my dogs never looked so good!
I have had an online order for curbside pickup since early afternoon on August 10. This is for 3 small toys and a bag of food. It is now 7:30 pm on August 11. Called the store this morning and they assured me my order would be ready today. How long can it take to gather 3 toys and a bag of dog food? I get my orders filled at Petco within 2 hours.
Awful. They refused to groom my dog because they claimed his vaccinations were not up to date even though they were up to date. I drove there for nothing. I felt like they made excuses not to work because there were already a lot of dogs there waiting to be groomed and my dog needed a lot of work. So out of pure laziness and unprofessionalism they turned us away for no reason. I took my dog to a more high end place with no problem.
One the the better PetSmats I have been too. Good selection, friendly staff. I have attended new puppy classes here. The training and socialization skills they learn are very valuable. Our dog has stayed many times at doggie day camp as well as overnight boarding with no issues. The grooming and veterinarian services they provide are on par with other places in Austin.
Haley B is the BEST groomer! She takes care of my babies like they are her own. Their fresh haircuts always look amazing. I highly recommend her to everyone. She is the only groomer (out of many that I have tried) that perfects the round face with my Bichons. Thankfully she knows that Bichons do not get the same haircut as Poodles, which is the problem with many groomers. She does the perfect cut every time. Thanks Haley!
Four stars for their adoption events,which means they allow local rescues to use their space for the events. I know because I have adopted 2 kitties from a rescue organization,during events held here.Great assortments of supplies toys,treats,collars,etc. They even have new puppy classes.But, if you are searching for something, you might as well keep looking on your own, because they hire lots of teens here,and I guess they just throw them out on the floor with no real training. They can not help you, if its not right in front of you already. A second thing that bothers me is that they have so few pet foods that are made in the USA,so the ingredients are questionable on how they are sourced, or exactly what are the ingredients? Some countries can pretty much say anything. Also the cat toy area is really lacking and the quality is so,so cheap. I have wasted money buying feather type toys,and the feathers were just barely glued together and then stapled on to a plastic piece! They didnt even last 5 minutes. So, Ill buy litter here,and tags for collars,things like that. But for quality food and amazing toys and gear? I go to Tomlinsons!
Walked in needing assistance women upfront that calls herself a dog coach I believe was engrossed in conversation for a long time and would not help anyone else as my roommate tried and he was ignored as the customer said oh don’t mind him. So then I proceeded to ask her for assistance and she replied that she would be right with me once she was done with the man she had been talking to for over half an hour. She needs to be located to the back of the store if your not going to assist another customers. Never shop here again .
Staff is usually friendly but they have a high turnover so I often see different people and sometimes it slow. The store is often cluttered and not the cleanest. The animals are not always in appropriate size cages but appear in good health. Check out sometimes take longer than other petsmarts.
We been taking our dogs there for years and now we called for a groom and we were not in the /your system anymore and our Cavalier King Charles needed a groom and they said maybe next week. Too late and we will not be back. Ever. And our friends will hear it too. We talked to the store manager and didnt even offer a discount for our inconvenience. GOOD BYE
This is my preferred spot to buy my dog food and treats. The staff is always kind and love to see my Annie. They are always well stocked and I never have any issues finding anything. Annie loves the selection of toys, too. They tend to be pretty busy for grooming but if you get in early they are quick and efficient.
Their grooming department is more interested in being right than helping their customers.Came in to get my dog groomed and bathed and they told me he was only scheduled for a bath. I explained that he needed a haircut too and the lady proceeded to tell me that hes never gotten a haircut there and he only gets baths.I explained that wasnt true but she looked at her notes and told me thats what they had down. So instead of listening to the customer it was more important to tell me how I was wrong. Terrible customer service, Ive chosen to go elsewhere.
Walking in to a store that just opened and finding a dirty bathroom is super disappointing. I understand the closers have a lot to do, but taking out ALL the trashes should be something they do. The mirror and toilet looked like they hadnt been cleaned for a week. Nastey!Trying to buy something that early was a mistake on my part. There was no one to check me out even when I walked the entire store to find someone. Even when the pet hotel workers were too busy to even consider paging a clerk to the front. Ya.....this store already had a poor reputation for customer service. Its not gotten any better.
Typical petsmart, although it did seem like the selection of dog food was abnormally huge here. Maybe 4 to 5 aisles of nothing but dog food. Had a nice selection of aquariums of various sizes. However, their supply of fishes was limited and low. Also had a good selection of reptile habitats and accessories, one of the best Ive seen at a petsmart.
All around, there was a generally helpful staff at this location and PetSmart offers fairly decent prices on pet food, toys, decor and more; I almost have nothing to complain about except for a suggestion to increase inventory variety with their products, and thats only to say that i wish there was more of the store to shop around in.Thanks to everyone who works there im pleased to come back time and time again for my snakes frozen food, their quality-brand bedding choices and the wide variety of environmental decor options available. If my cats and dogs were still here with me today, I would love to have been able to take them into THIS Petsmart to spoil them.Thank you to all of these employees.
The worst Petsmart and Banfield and they lost me. They completely drained my patience from past 5 years. I barely go there now. I completely switched to Petco and Chewy online for pet supplies and Vet care for my two dogs and cat to VCA. Some staff are fine but Some Vets have no clue what they were doing Including their assistants. After Dr. Paula Andrews left, its a circus there. If you get a call back from Vet about your pets health then you are super lucky.If you get a new VET then you have to cosplay as a doctor and explain everything from the begining, I dont know what they write or log in their reports. They dont know how to handle Large and extra large dogs for sure. Please dont play lottery with your pets health and care with this Petsmart and Banfield. They just do business but nothing else.
PetSmart had exactly what we were looking for, and at the right price. We tried the other pet store in Sunset Valley (you know the one), and all they tried to do well sell us on grooming, dog training, and their in-store vet. When I go to buy pet supplies, I dont want to be upsold like Im walking past a mall kiosk!PetSmart was a much easier trip, and we were able to find our items, pay for them, and get out. Thats all I need from a pet store.
Horrible Customer service in the grooming department.My wife had talked to a stylist the day before to make a reservation. The stylist told my wife we did not need a reservation. So I went there with my dog and a very uptight lady with dark hair said that we did not have a reservation and very disgruntled about the situation. She kept asking me over and over what number did she call? I explained I was not sure so I called my wife. She told me that whom ever she spoke to told us we did not need a reservation. The Lady became even more irritated? She slammed the cover on the reservation book and I said,dont worry I do not want to inconvenience anyone and we will take our business elsewhere. we have 3 dogs and a cat. I spend allot of money in Petsmart, well we used to until today. Needless to say we will not return.
1)Frustrating shopping experience. Entire cat toy isle was blocked off for a dog training class. Perhaps they should have a dedicated dog training space.2)maybe have a VARIETY of flea killing products, besides just a couple of overpriced ones3)OFFER BAGS AT CHECKOUT!!!! its like you are encouraging us to use Amazon or some other delivery service!!!!!
Ive been to this PetSmart quite often and the customer service on the sales floor seems pretty good. They often have a dog food vendor in there to answer questions as well. I marked them down because I was not impressed with the vet. There was nothing wrong and they didnt do anything bad, its just not my type of vet. I prefer a local place but that is just me.
These guys saved my hide when my animals and I had to evacuate our house in the middle of the summer because of a gas leak. The staff here let us all (2 cats and a big dog) come in and cool off in the AC, helped get water for both myself and the animals, and helped clean up my poor kitties who had been in their kennel a long time and were suffering from some heat exhaustion and had messed themselves. This is in addition to their regular great customer care. Five stars here.
The store is okay, thought i wont leave my cat here. I will admit that my cat is spoiled and used to a place like Paradise4Paws, which is very high end pet accommodations, but I just wont do it.This is more like a vet type accommodation and while there is nothing wrong with that it was not what I expected.They did take care of him and nothing was wrong, and the staff did clearly love animals; I was just looking for more space for him.Take my review with a grain of salt as I do spoil my cat, and have very high expectations of the boarding facilities that I leave my animals with.
Great customer service. Prices can be a bit steep on some items and some items like crickets and mealworms arent up to par. Large crickets are sometimes small and the large mealworms I always have to dig through to make sure they are alive. Often they will be small and sometimes dead. I recommend Petco for quality on these items.
Appalled. I took my dog in today to get his hair cut and as I’m at the counter checking in I hear one of the groomers complaining about one of the dogs saying, “oh my God, this dog is so bad, he won’t sit still to let me trim his nails. Yelling at the dog to calm down and pulling his legs. Then she said, why do we always get the bad dogs on the holidays?! While these people are at home enjoying their Chrimas Eve, we have to work and put up with all the BAD dogs cause everyone wants to wait until the last minute. Ugh! And why are those people looking in the window at me? Nothing to see, so move on!” So of course I look over to get the name of this person named, Allison. Disgusting personality. Everything that came out her mouth was just negative. If this is her character in front of customers what is she like behind closed doors with our “bad” dogs! And tell Allison, she chose that job. And does it suck to work on holidays?Yes! But that’s life. Suck it up....or go home and lose the attitude!!! Side note. I always tell them to pluck my dogs ears and EVERY single time I get him back his ears aren’t plucked and I have to hand him back over and tell them to do it. I doubt they express his anal glands or brush his teeth too. You always have to double check with these people and make sure they follow up on their job. Is annoying especially when I’m paying 70 dollars to have all this done.
I wanted to purchase a Betta fish to replace the one my cat ate 7 years ago. I needed a small tank, gravel, food, and the other accoutrements of fish ownership. The one person I could ask for help didnt know much about fish so her assistance was limited and couple that with a poorly stocked aquarium department and you get a less than optimal experience. I trusted my own judgement and settled for what I could make work, after sitting down with my phone to search Amazon for what they had for fish equipment. Got a lovely male Betta with a 3.5 gallon round tank set, with under gravel filter and an LED lighted tank cover, food and a cleaning sponge and net for under $50. I had to work for it, too. I should have gotten an employee discount, though.
Been going here for years. Staff is always friendly and ask if you need help. There is a lot of selection and the prices are at market value. However a big con is often items will be a different price (more expensive) at the register than on the shelf or even online. Make sure the prices ring true and always check online for a lower price as they will price match.
Incompetent staff at the doggie daycare. We had scheduled a visit and explained our pets getting their shots. The people there failed to tell us their policy about needing two days before admitting them. When provided the paperwork, they could not find the shot information and refused to allow our dogs to stay. We traveled from out of town for a football game, so they ruined our plans. Bad experience and I will never try to shop at a Petsmart again.
Overall pretty expensive compared to online sources, walmart, etc. But has some good products and if you find sales its not bad price wise. Like some stores, if you can, only buy things on sale. Has a good dog treat selection. Live animals, outside of adoptions, should be avoided unless its crickets. Was told today that their feeder fish are usually sick, so wouldnt trust them anymore. Other fish are segregated and medicated, so safe, but usually not high quality. Id stick to food, treats, chemicals, physical products like toys, etc.
I wish I could give No Stars. WORST GROOM EVER!!! Where to start, so many things were bad. I should have known when I dropped my baby off to just say nevermind. They overbook appt. times. When I dropped off my baby I spoke with groomer said I didnt want his hair too short. We agreed on 1in. which would have been fine except when I picked him up his hair was Soo short. She decided to do 1/2 in. all over. Except there are stray hairs everywhere that are longer than the rest. Then, I had too bring him back in before even leaving the store because his nails were so sharp. I paid for the full groom with added nail grind and the CHI package. Nails NOT grinded. I know they for a fact they didnt use the CHI because that is the shampoo I use at home and when I picked him up he smelled completely different than CHI. There was no sanitary trim done. His hair is all uneven and choppy. Worst groom ever!! And I will tell everyone at the restaurant that I work at not to bring there fur-babies there. And the groomer had the nerve to say oh next time well do the 1in. Are you crazy?? There will be NO NEXT TIME!!! I understand you get what you pay for, but I was charged for stuff that I DIDNT EVEN GET!! NEVER AGAIN!!! Wish I could give NO STARS!!! Only good thing is that his hair will grow back. I guess shame on me for even thinking that his haircut would get done right.
Terrible Service for Dog boarding and day care. We made a reservation at this location for our dog to stay for day care the day after Thanksgiving so we could attend the UT game. Reservation was made 2 1/2 weeks in advance. However when we got there with our dog, they claimed they had no reservation and were full. They tried to make it up by giving us a free day next time we came (which will be never), as if this was going to help us on that specific day. If you can’t keep a reservation, how can anyone trust you to care for your pet. Stay away from this location. We’ve never had an issue at PetSmart in Houston, so I can only think it is this location in particular that is mismanaged.
The Banfield Vet Hospital that PetSmart uses, was trash. I bought the puppy package which included shots, meds, and Vet visit. Well when my new puppy had an allergic reaction to the flea pill that they perscribed, I told the staff and they wouldnt reimburse me for the 3 month supply that I bought nor would they perscribe him a different type of medication. They told me I would have to call the company that makes the pill.... Um what? Not to mention I was put on hold and after 37 min of waiting, I hung up and tried again an he later and the phone just rang and rang. This happened several times.
We go here for food and grooming as one of our dogs coat is really thick and resembles that of an Akita or maybe a Husky. Anyway, he sheds like you wouldnt believe and requires grooming about every month during the summer heat. Weve found that more often than not, theyre pretty good here. One time last year they really half assed it, to the point we could have done it to that degree ourselves in a few minutes, but that was on a Saturday and they were likely slammed. We take em on random weekday mornings now & it works out well.
Very dissapointed with the services of the Pet Hospital located inside (Banfield Pet Hospital). I arrived 5 minutes late to an appointment. They made me wait for 10 minutes and then they told me per Doctor Decision you will need to reschedule. They are perhaps an animal-centric business, but animals dont make the purchase decision. In a different event I got there on time and waited for almost 45 minutes and I didnt complain. Its sad to see bad brands hiding behind good brands like PetSmart. For an industry with so much competition this is a really bad approach to customer loyalty.
Today my youngest pup Canelo a 4 month old white toy poodle was groomed by Eden and I am VERY UNHAPPY AND LIVID WITH HOW THEY LEFT MY BABY. I called prior to his appointment to advise the kind of haircut Id wanted. Top Knot, Shaved body, trimmed poofy ears and Poofy tail. My mom dropped him off for me and picked him up. SOMEONE TELLL ME WHY MY BABYS TAIL IS SHAVED AND HE HAS A POOFY HEAD THATS UNEVEN AND LOOKS COMPLETLY RIDICKULOUS COMPARED TO THE REST OF HIS BODY. My mom has no experience with dog grooming so she didnt notice. She paid and left. These are the pictures they sent me. TERRIBLE! I have been coming to get my other two poodles Rosalee & June groomed there for YEARS I have NEVER had a problem before but now Eden has given me a BIG PROBLEM. SHAME ON U EDEN AND UR HORRIBLE HALF ASS WORK. & then they want to charge me to fix the problem that they made? WOW. A JOKE. IF YOU CARE ABOUT HOW YOUR PUPS LOOK AND MAKING SURE YOU GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH I SUGGEST LAURAS DOGGIE DOOS OFF SLAUGHTER LN I USED TO GET MY PUPS DONE THERE BUT ITS ALITTLE FARTHER THAN PETSMART BUT ID GLADLY DRIVE THE EXTRA MILE TO GET MY MONEYS WORTH.
Will never board my dog here again. They do not take them outside to use the restroom its a inside cemented areas. Ive trained my dog to not pee/poop inside. He didnt poop for 4 days and if they needed to send to vet I will have to pay for office visit. They did not allow me pay extra for an outside walk. I was on a Alaska cruise in and out of service so the entire time I was so worried about him. Kennels are so small. I had my sister pick him up early. My suggestion Find a local doggy day care youll thank me later!!
This is the most wonderful petsmart. I could go on forever but the short and long of it is that they took care of my geriatric 17 year old GSD mix with all the love and caring as if it were their own dog. I love these people at the Pets Hotel. I even got a huge hug from Julie when I had to tell her Frink passed away. She actually got teary eyed. These are wonderful people. I wouldnt go to any other PetsMart! Or for that matter pet hotel!
Wow! I came here because it opens early. I walked around looking for an employee. Found 2 , they didnt want to be bothered! The cashier didnt know anything. I was showing her pics and still didnt know what i wanted. Finally i found what it was. I dont know if the cashier was upset because I pulled her away from flirting with another employee. Petco is def better! As soon as i walk in the door, I am greeted and asked if I need any help.
I always come to this Petsmart for my cat food, toys, supplies, etc. But I will never be back to the PetsHotel. My pets have reluctantly stayed there several times and on the last visit in particular I was upset for a few reasons. First, the staff couldnt care less about the pets staying there. Whenever we drop our dog off, we always get a feeling like the people working at the PetsHotel are counting the hours until their shift is over. When were away, we like to call to check up on our pets. When we called to ask how our dog is doing in day camp (because my husband likes to hear that shes having a good time) we always get a canned response - thats shes Doing well in play group and eating all of her food. Yeah, we know. Shes a big smiley dog of course she loves play group and food. This last time when we picked her up, my husband saw her being taken out of a crate for a small dog - she weighs 50lbs! When we asked why she was not in a big dog kennel, the response was that she had still been marked as a puppy in their system, so she was assigned a small cage and they were all booked up in the big ones. We said what about 2 weeks ago when she stayed here? You didnt see that she was a 50 lb dog then? Was she in a small cage then too? To me, this is completely unacceptable. To think that my dog was stuck in the small dog cage the whole night made me sick. On top of that, when we left she peed longer than Ive ever seen her go in the over a year that weve had her. I will NOT be back.
I have taken my two dogs here for several years (from 2005 through 2014). The staff was kind and have treated them and us like royalty. Four years ago, one of my dogs died- the staff reacted as though they had themselves lost a family member. Within the week, they sent a beautiful condolences card signed by all the staff. You can tell that the staff at this pet hotel truly remember your pets, their personalities, and give them the love and attention necessary to make their stay as comfortable and stress free as possible.Unfortunately, I had to move to North Austin a little more than a year ago. The closest Petsmart Pet-hotel is in Round Rock, and the comments and ratings are less than satisfactory for the Round Rock store. I dont have enough experience with that location, but the reports make me hesitant to leave my dog there. This is unfortunate; service should be consistently good for every Petsmart.

The staff sucks and none knew basic pet questions except for one young lady so literally everyone with a question was going to her and formed a line. If you dont know much about a pet or products at least know what your coworkers strengths are to direct people. You work in a damn pet store.
I wanted to take a moment to rate this location after having such a bad experience at the location on Slaughter.2 registers were open and the line of people ready to check out was building up. I was so happy when they opened a third register! This location understands customer service!
I got birds a year or two back, the person who got them for me obviously had no idea what they were doing nor did they care, grabbing the birds with a net and then with his hands and shoving them in a box forcibly. Wouldve been lower but other than that Ive usually had good experiences with them
Terrible job. My dog was groomed very badly. They said they spent three hours and charged twice as much as I paid in San Antonio. They were rudeand when I asked to speak to the store manager, they took me to the manager but I couldnt have a word in the conversation. Ill will never come back to that place again.
Made appt yesterday to bathe my dog for hotel stay. Showed for appt & was told they cldnt do it w/o current rabies vaccination & even then, wld have to wait 48 hrs. Huge inconvenience & wasted day!!! Went to Ben White Animal Hospital, they gave shots & my dog a spa day w/o ne hassle!!!
WARNING to anyone considering fostering or adopting kittens from LEISURE CATS or a woman associated with them named MELISSA. I know that Leisure Cats displays their kittens at the PetSmart in Sunset Valley on Brodie Lane and the PetSmart at South Park Meadows. In our case, they gave us kittens that had a fatal disease called FIP or Feline Infectious Peritonitis. The veterinarian said they routinely see this with kittens from kitten mills. They had to be put down.My daughter and her roommates were fostering to adopt two adorable kittens. Their apartment was going to be fumigated so my daughter brought the kittens to our home in Austin. We noticed the kittens were very thin and that they were not eating. My daughter repeatedly tried to contact Melissa and Leisure Cats, but did not get a response for several hours and the kittens were getting worse. We couldn’t just watch them die, so we took them to our vet. After spending a total of $880.50, we found out they had the above-mentioned fatal disease FIP or Feline Infectious Peritonitis. The result was tragic.I looked on the Leisure Cats’ website and it clearly states that they test for the FIV virus which causes this horrible disease. If that is true, why did they put up these sweet kitties infected with this virus for adoption at a pet shop? Watching them die was heartbreaking. I also worry about the other kittens that they could have exposed. I think the conditions at Leisure Cats should be investigated.After grieving the loss of these sweet animals, we tried to contact Melissa of Leisure Cats to see if we could get some financial reimbursement for the expenses we incurred trying to save their lives – anything would be appreciated.She finally consented to meet me at the PetSmart at South Park Meadows. During our meeting, she said she would bring it up the matter with her board. However, I have not heard a word or received any communication from her or from Leisure Cats since December 27, 2017. After piecing this all together, the condition of the kittens, their terminal infection, and her unfortunate manner during our meeting, I realize that I may never hear from her or Leisure Cats again.This is not how a group that is supposedly supplying a humane service to help animals should be run. I cannot emphasize enough how much these people should be avoided. Having them showcase their diseased animals at any pet store and foisting them on an unsuspecting public is both extremely cruel and unethical.
I went in yesterday to buy crickets, and the kid working in the fish/cricket section acted like he was completely miserable. He didnt say a word to the family buying fish or to myself buying crickets. Not even a thank you. If you dont want to work then quit and give your job to someone who cares.
Above and Beyond. Those are the only words to preface my recent experience with Petsmart. I would like to especially thank AMANDA in the Dog Training area, I think. Either way she is awesome and helped me through a problem I was having that now that I have had more time to think about it, I probably shouldnt have been calling Petsmart for in the first place, but that is neither here nor there. I just wanted to express my thanks in a way that will hopefully get you, Amanda, some well-deserved recognition and let you know that you were right and my pup is okay. :) As a matter of fact not just right but spot on, chap-stick looks nasty on the way out for the record. I will definitely continue to bring all my pet care needs to this Petsmart for the friendly and accurate service and the commitment yall have to standing behind your products

Ive had the pleasure of meeting Brenda from Petsmart who is hands down the best person for the job. I can honestly say i can put my trust and faith in her every single time and she never disappoints. The way my golden looks when he comes out is outstanding! His nails, the layers on his fur, and the way she trims him is unmatched! Thank you Brenda for all the hard work you continue to do and we definitely appreciate it. Petsmart she is one of a kind!

2021-08-30Love this location for Austin! Laryssa at the Grooming station treated my pup kindly and with care! My dog is usually scared but left so happy & excited feeling much better with the clean cut! We got the express-service because of her heart condition and they finished speedily and efficiently!!!!! Worth every penny.10/10 recommend 🐾

2022-04-27Casey C in the grooming department gave my dog one of the best haircuts theyve ever had! My dog doesnt like getting his haircut and he was recently attacked by another dog. Even with those setbacks, Casey did a stunning job and was extremely kind and considerate to my pup. He looks beautiful and isnt upset from the haircut at all. Seriously couldnt recommend him more. The entire grooming department was clean and everyone was friendly. They even gave us a bag of treats because we were first time customers. I didnt have cash on me to tip and will be going back next week to tip Casey because he really did such a great job.

2022-07-02I took two puppies for a full groom. Booking was easy and the groomers took time to walk me through the services that were going to be performed (kind of). The groomer recommended that only one puppy get a full groom while the other would only need a trim (big mistake on my part for agreeing to the trim). The full groom turned out great, I did notice a few places where the groomer went too short, but nothing to get upset about. The Trim turned out terrible. I understand you get what you pay for but I should have been contacted because my puppy looked terrible and should have received a full groom. It looked like the only things they did were trim my puppy’s nails, remove matts, and brush his coat. They did not trim his face and did a terrible job on his potty areas. The manager was suppose to call me so we could discuss how to fix my puppy’s haircut, but I guess they were too busy.Another thing I did not care for was the bait and switch with the groomers. I booked a specific groomer based on reviews, but my puppy, receiving the trim, was passed to another groomer. I suspect they used my puppy as a training haircut for the other groomer, but I have no evidence of this.I ended up taking my puppy to another groomer to fix his haircut and the other groomer did an excellent job.Overall, full grooming service was a 5, but the trim only deserves a 1. This location also loses points because the manager never called me back. I ended up having to pay almost $150 for my puppy’s trim. The trimmed was terrible and I was not going to leave my puppy looking all kinky and raggedy.

Well I may not know his last name he is the ultimate representative of this company in terms of grooming and customer service. 2022-04-12This store is dirty....floors have built up stains and dried globs of matter....sticky. unsightly. The inventory is not fully stocked but I did purchase some items. Would like the store better if it was cleaner.

2022-05-18I picked up a urine soaked dog + bed after a multi night stay that ended with a bath and brush. The conditions must have been absolutely appalling throughout his stay. Two baths later and hes still stained with urine on his underside, legs, and paws.Ill be reporting them for animal abuse.
