I went in to get a Seiko battery replaced. I expected as watchmaker, a pressure test would be standard or at least recommended if a watch is labeled as water resistant. The gentleman was very helpful and did replace the battery but I question the expertise. I could have changed my own battery if I had known a pressure test was done.
Bought a luxury watch from a private seller online. It was running a bit fast and i had i tight window for a refund period. I was able to see Phillip the same day i called. He put it on a timegrapher to see if there was any issues. The watch just needed a regulation. He put my +30 seconds per day watch to 0 seconds per day. A+ work.
If I could give him 10 stars I would!! My diamond fell out of my wedding ring 2 days before I was leaving the country, I called and he said he can try to have it fixed by the next day! I was so excited I had my husband take it in along with the ring guard that broke a while ago that I didn’t ask him to fix to see what he would charge to fix later! My husband said he would call us the next day around 12:00 with pricing and the ring should be done, but to my surprise he called 2 hrs earlier and stated everything was done and he was more than reasonable with the pricing! He now has a lifetime customer! Thanks so much for helping me in my time of need without even knowing me!! I am so grateful for the great reviews that led me to him!
The Best place to fix a watch in San Antonio, Texas. Been there several times, in downtown San Antonio. Took Mr. Phillip Simon several watches already. He has always done a great job, from replacing a battery to fixing my Dads old Elgin Railroad Pocket Watch of 1929. Just to give a you an idea of this gentlemans knowledge and expertise on fixing watches.
Mr. Simon was extremely nice. Hes only been working on watches for 75 years. I had a watch that was broken and he fixed it in a few minutes. I tried calling several places and no one would touch my watch. Fossil wanted to charge over $100 to fix. Mr. Simon, $10. Highly recommend..
Míster Simon is just amazing. I just had two watches fixed this week. Some former repairman installed the wrong pin on my Grand fathers Rolex decades ago. This caused some damage to the bracelet cover. This was not an easy or simple fix, but now it now looks and feels perfect. The other was an unglued hour marker in a Tudor. Fixed as well. We had a wonderful chat during the drop off and pick up. What a wonderful man. The price for his service is a bargain.
Its bit hidden (3rd floor of an pretty vacant building) but Mr. Simon is really nice and he fixed my watch really fast. Hes been in the watch business for 70 years I believe he said! It was really reasonably priced in my opinion, compared to the bigger watch places that sell watches. Going to him from now on!
Im so happy that I took my 1933 Elgin watch to Mr. Simon. A watch shop on San Pedro told me that a spring was broken in the watch and they were not able to find one. This a watch that my grandfather gave me when I was 8 years old. Mr. Simon opened that watch and stated, There is nothing broken, it just needs to be cleaned A week later, watch is back on my wrist and keeping perfect time! Cant recommend him enough.
The best Watchmaker in San Antonio, TXAn expert on all high end watches, I collect vintage watches that include Rolex, Breitling, Omega ect and had tried many so called watchmakers in SA that have charged outrageous prices for service and repairs that damaged or could not fix my watches properly.Mr Philip Simon is a true watchmaker (old school ) with knowledge and experience that has fixed my mechanical watches that other watchmakers could not repair. His prices reflect that he does this for his passion of the trade. He is a dedicated, reliable, honest Jeweler/Watchmaker that is the top in his field.
Amazing amount of horological knowledge found in one very nice gentleman. I had a Russian watch that a big jewelry chain botched the battery replacement; they handed it back to me in pieces. I went to see Professor Simon. He had it fixed and put back together with a new battery in just a few minutes! Very reasonable price, too. If you have a watch that needs fixing - you only have one choice - Phillip Simon San Antonio.
Mr. Simon is extremely professional and very reasonable. Hes worked on a few of my vintage watches and each time I pick them up, they look as good as when they were new, One of my watches, a Tudor Prince Oysterdate,, has some parts that are extremely hard to find. I tried every watch repair shop in San Antonio, including the high-end jewelry shops, and they all said they could not help me, that it would be impossible to find the parts needed to fix it. Mr Simon was able to find the original parts and within a week of dropping it off, he had it ready for me. It now looks and works incredibly. Ive since taken more watches to him for repair and he has impressed me each and every time. Also, he is of course extremely knowledgable about watch and watch history, so its a lot of fun just talking to him and learning about the industry.
Mr. Simon was like a watchmaker from a novel. Classic looks, well dressed and housed in a historic building, the Travis building, on N. St. Marys St. He helped me right away with watch battery replacement though he was obviously busy. Charged me 40% less than I have paid at Walmart. What a pleasant existence.
I needed a link taken out of my watch and I walked over to this place on my lunch break. The office wasnt easy to find, but its on the 3rd floor of the building. The man working there was very pleasant and quickly fixed my watch for a total of - $2.50! Bonus: hes exactly what youd imagine a watchmaker would look like.
Went here to get my watch re-sized. You can tell hes really knowledgeable about watches and been working on them all his life. Defenitly would use again for repairs and regular maintenance. To find it, go in the building, take the elevator to the 3rd floor, and it should be right in front of you
At the risk of being a shameless plug, this was quite possibly the most pleasant jewler/watch repair experience Ive ever had.Its not easy to find, its in the building across the street from the parking garage, get in the elevator, and its on the 3rd floor, right in front of the elevator. The gentleman in question has been there for 65 years, according to him, and I believe him. I had a pair of older Mido bodyguards that were giving me trouble, and he fixed them on the spot, while I waited. And the price was -extremely- reasonable. Any time I need a watch worked on, Ill be dealing with this gentleman, for as long as hes still in buisiness.

2017-11-10Mr Simon is a very nice man and Seems to have been repairing watches his whole life. He’s very knowledgeable and is one of the last old school jewelers in town. A real treasure. He finished the watch in no time (a 1960s windup Timex) and had it looking great when he was done. Highly recommend him.

2018-07-19Mr Simon is the treasured find in San Antonio when it comes to jewelry repair! He does not advertise, an asset to the researchers, but for those such as myself who research everything, he is the real deal! Been in the same building for 25+ years and can repair anything presented to him for a nominal fee. I will forever go to him as long as able now that I have unburied a SA treasure to me! I recommend the same to all others! And BTW as other posts mention, a gentleman he is in all facets! This was an Irish import custom hand made ring, front shown and back AFTER repair. FLAWLESS!

2021-10-21Phil is the real deal, a once in a lifetime find. He has been working on watches for over 80 years. That’s correct 80 years. He is honest and very fair. He has been a San Antonio Icon for decades. He has kept my obsession for vintage watches alive for the last 30 years. If you have a modern, vintage or rare time piece he is your man. He Is the guy other jewelers take their stuff too. Trust me.. you will love him as much as we do!

2021-08-27I took my wedding ring to Mr. Simon with a broken prong. He fixed the broken one and noticed my other prongs were very weak so he replaced them all within a week and at a very reasonable price. My ring is brand new again and he did an exceptional job!
