Pitt Grill Restaurant in other cities:
It used to be a good place to go eat with great food and staff but my experience yesterday was awful!! 1 waitress and 1 cook. Waitress told us she called and ask her “friend” to come wash dishes. Waited 15 minutes to get drinks, another 30 to get food. Asked to silverware and she replied “good luck”.. but after the 2nd request she went and wrapped some up.Floor was slick, like coated with grease.. slick when you walked on it.. the doors to the restaurant were locked at some point and they were turning people away. Not good idea to lock doors with patrons inside!! Fire Hazard!! We won’t be back unless improvements are made!!!
Waited 15 minutes for them to come take the drink order and only had one waitress one cook. Waitress was all over the place. Food finally came out an hour later. It used to be a good place to eat amd food used to be really good. We tried going back thinking maybe they was just short staffed that evening but nope two weeks later still same situation, so we ended up walking out and watched other two tables get up and walk out also. Neither of us had our drink order taken after seating there for 20 minutes. I hope they get more help and better service.
Not worth it at all. They keep the grills on way to high, and the sausage doesnt fully cook through. My sausage was still raw, Ive seen 3 people turn their sausage in cause it was raw as well. Wasnt busy when my family and I showed up, but it was most definitely not a place for kids with the kind of talk that was happening. I can say for a fact, that table that was loud and inappropriate were regulars, just by the way they were talking to the owner. Everything was halfass done by the waitresses. Getting served food and still waiting minutes for silverware. Getting the wrong food. I know Im never going back there.
Very very very rude people work here. I have eaten here several times and every time they are rude. I also order the same thing every time and they seem to never get it right. I mean what’s so hard about making a BLT with cheese and a fried egg?!!!!!! My daughter was 8 years old when she learned how to make this. SMH. Ever since that one guy left months ago it’s gotten much much worse there. My advice got to Athens Cafe same food better service!
The food was good and it came out in a decent amount of time. We stopped here on Christmas day for breakfast as we were traveling. The cashier asked me did i want to leave a tip on my card. I told her No, i have cash. I gave my waitress her tip and i noticed later on that day my receipt had a misc. adjustment under my total which brought my total to an even $48 instead of 46.18 which the cashier stated. I dont know what kind of place charges a different amount to someones card than what is stated. I will be contacting the manager
This place could use a serious update and remodel. Breakfast was just ok. They burned the bread on my BLT and turned the burned side inward. When I asked them about the burned bread, the reply was it was the toasters fault. We eat out often and we eat local often. We hope these folks can rectify these small discrepancies in a timely manner.
Wanted to eat pit grill this morning but wanted to order it to go over the phone. I call to place my order and was told they weren’t taking phone orders that I had to come in to order. What’s the difference if I order there or on the phone. This really made me mad cuz now I don’t want to give them my business but that’s what I want to eat. We eat there a lot but might not after today
If you like real simple in a dated atmosphere this place is for you. The food choices are very similar to waffle House and cooked the same way. Its open 24 hours and you can get anything on the menu any time of the day or night. Food is okay. Service is okay. And prices are very reasonable.
From out of town and stopped in just because we were passing by. DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH! The burger was amazing! It tasted like very good quality beef and I dont know what method they cooked it with but it was fantastic! The salad dressing tasted like real home made ranch. All the veggies were fresh and crisp. We were very very happy with the quality of the food. I come to Athens a few times a year and this was the best food Ive had so far.
Reminded me of the ole Pit Grill we use to go to after the bars closed in Dallas on Fort Worth Ave.. Dont mean that in a bad way. All the people were just being. No fake attitudes , or noses turning up when you walk in. Good Fried Catfish special. Price are good, breakfast just like grandma made
We got good food and prices and no complaints on our first two visits. But on the third visit, both sets of utensils were dirty. We told the waitress and she brought replacements. They were dirty too. My fork actually has a piece of egg stuck to it! We called her back over and showed her and she said, Im not the one who rolled the silverware! It was rude and defensive the way she said it. So there, dirty and rude.
First time Ive been here in years, food is great as always. Home cooking with a jukebox playing sweet home Alabama. I got a salad with chicken it was great the only thing i would change is having shedded cheese instead of sliced cheese strips on my salad. Other than thst its great
My bride and I were headed home to San Antonio from Atlanta and got to Athens around lunch and decided against the loop thinking there was a cafe on the square. (I missed it if there is) Something made me pull into the Pitt restaurant - I think the Fish Fry sign - and am I glad I did. That fish fry plate was excellent. The potatoes were fresh cut and fried. The slaw was not too wet. The pickled green tomato relish is delicious. But, let me tell you, the plate comes with a bowl of the best pinto beans one could possibly want (they have onions, bacon, ham, and are seasoned perfectly). AND all this comes with fried catfish and hush puppies. To top all that off it is an all you can eat of any or all of it.Dont take the loop - go to Pitt Restaurant.
Will never go back!!! After years of enjoying their breakfast, we went back and they have now hired a horrible cook and the rudest waitress on the planet. As I watched our food sit there getting colder by the minute - she proceeded to wait on 4 other patrons who had eaten and were checking out. When she finally brought the food, it was ice cold with overcooked hard eggs. I asked if she could bring me some warm toast and she literally flipped out! She said she didnt have to put up with that or wait on me. Problem solved. We got up and left and will NEVER go back.
Dont order the chopped steak!!!! We normally would stop by there when passing through town, most of the time in the late hours. I always order the chopped steak but I had learned it came out very different depending on the cook. Yesterday I was passing through town about 9 and stopped for a late dinner to go. When I ordered I was very specific as to what I wanted, even referring to the picture on the menu. When I got my order it was not at all what I ask for. The cooks were very hateful to my correction, so at that point I ask for my money back and was just going to leave. The manager/cook raised his voice to me and even had the audacity to referred to me as honey. The disagreement got loud and heated at which time he banned me from the restaurant all because they got my order wrong. The general manager/cook is a chauvinistic pig and clearly has no concept what a chop steak sandwich was and even less concept of what customer service is. Keep driving dont waste your time stopping at The Pit Grill!
First time there...walked in and dirty dishes covered the countertop...after 45 minute wait on food it was cold and not cooked well...waitress talks more than need to...should have been helping others or washing dishes...she was forgetting what people had asked for...overall bad experience...
When my husband and I were leaving out truck broke down the late night lasies Evonne, angel , and who I call happy bubbles all three of them came out to help push our truck. The also cook an server you like your family. We love going up there even more now than I did all my life growing up. Thanks big time ladies for being so away!!! From Tinkerbell and Manny

2022-07-07DONT GO! Stopped for lunch after working all day. Terrible service. Waited until she brought our food to tell us it was CASH ONLY. Burnt my burger. No buns. Filthy place. Long wait. Fries were good. Had to drive my truck & trailer to find an ATM. A sign or a warning BEFORE we ordered would have been the decent thing to doCLOSE THIS PLACE DOWN.

2022-05-08This place is hit or miss, honestly it needs a redo interior and exterior, needs more help, and need an update on menus. We mostly come for breakfast and depending on when you choose to go it can be packed or not. The food is a hit or miss too.We were there and the 2 employees that were there, the lady taking orders was ok, but the guy cooking was super slow and only cooked one thing at a time. They had the waffles done and sat on the counter while waiting for the rest of the food to cook after 2 hours and no food we had decided to pay for our drinks and leave.

2022-05-08Wasn’t very busy when our family entered and got a table right away. Then it took 30 minutes before we ever got to order drinks and probably another 15-20 before our drinks come out! Tried to be considerate since there was only 1 waitress and 1 cook. Unfortunately after finally placing our food order, our food still wasn’t ready after waiting an hour. We gave 2 hours to long for no service and should have chosen better but I won’t make the same mistake twice! Not sure where Rick and Paula went but I won’t be back unless they are there! Should’ve never given them 2 hours with no service!! Ended up walking out just to go eat somewhere else

2020-08-08It has 1 of the best grill operators in the business. Ive been here 3x more 3 and will come back. Just 1 problem this time... My waffle was lacking in batter. Ive never seen a flat Belgium waffle or a waffle with this many holes in it. And I used to work at WH.
