Arbor came out awesome. Lee was really informative and was really easy to get a hold of if I had any questions or concerns. Craftsmanship is top notch. Will definitely use again for future projects.
This is a company worth writing home about. Theyre not just good, theyre great! From calling and talking with Lee, the owner, to consulting with Heidi, the design gal, to watching Oscar and his helper build the deck, all of it was a satisfying experience. In less than three days we had a beautiful deck that expands our living area and is so inviting. Weve had many complements already and its only been a week since completion. We would certainly recommend River City Patio and Deck, and, as a matter of fact, already have to an admiring neighbor. It was a pleasure doing business with this very professional company.

This is our own review, with no compensation for leaving it. Heidi (sales rep) came out to our house, looked at our existing deck (that was rotting away), made some awesome recommendations as to what we were going to keep (our free standing pergolas), and gave us an estimate of a new replacement deck. On start day, Adrian and his crew arrived as promised. Demolished and started the framework for the new decks. 3 days later, he and his crew completed a beautiful, very sturdy and professional looking decks. Adrian has an eye for detail and custom work. Great job and highly recommend River City Deck & Patio for your decking requirements.

From start to finish the entire process was AMAZING!! Heidi did an amazing job designing our deck! Lee the owner was in constant contact with us on the status, and the crew did an fantastic job. Before hiring River City Deck and Patio to build our deck, we did some research and read reviews for local builders. River City had great ratings and reviews, and excellent style! I immediately fell in love with the black metal balusters. I submitted a consultation request online and received response within 24 hours. We met in-home a few days later to go over size/design/pricing and signed an agreement for the build before the representative left our house. We were given an estimate of 4-6 weeks before our build could take place, but due to the state of the world and poor weather, it had to be pushed to 7--this was no problem because Lee kept us updated. Our build was finished in 2 days and it is absolutely perfect! The builders were very pleasant and left us with a beautiful deck with a half-arbor and privacy wall! We are so thrilled with our deck and so excited to spend time outside now!
I can not state how please I am with my new deck from River City Deck and Patio. Lee and his crew were simply awesome. I must have shopped 6 different deck companies but it was the professionalism, knowledge and my own research that made the choice easy. The craftmanship is stunning. Beautiful!! I could not be happier with my experience with River City and with my newly installed pergola. The owner and staff are very friendly and gave us a very reasonable quote. The crew was very professional, completed the project quickly, and left our yard clean. The pergola is honestly more beautiful than I imagined it would be (I teared up when I saw it all done, I was so happy). It just makes our patio feel so much more inviting and I cant wait to enjoy the shade and comfort it provides. Its perfect! Thank you River City!
We recently moved to the area and didn’t know who to go with. Looked around and found River City. We spoke with Lee, and then Heidi came over and was able to answer all our questions. She was very experienced and put our minds at ease. She understood what we wanted and was able to keep it in our budget. It didn’t take long at all. Plans were set, they came in and finished the deck in a week! They cleaned up behind themselves every day. Everyone was very professional and courteous. Even though they finished in a week we couldn’t wait to get out on the deck a grill! Making this addition to our new home was one of the best decisions we’ve made, and it really adds value. They are an honest company and we will use them again. We’ve had nothing but good comments from our family and friends. This growing family of 6 loves the new deck, patio, and screen room.
Let me begin by saying I was not paid or given any discounts, etc for this review.I purchased a home last year that had a deck and pergola connected. It was a nice feature that helped drive us to purchase the home since the deck was accessible from the master bedroom. The home was 30 years old and the wood work appeared to be just as old so I was hesitant to make use of the deck.After doing a lot of research, I decided to bring out River City to get a quote and their analysis. Lee confirmed my thoughts and much more. The deck was definitely past its usable life. Additionally, the pergola was attached to the chimney that protrudes from the home. If excessive weight wouldve been put on that, the chimney would have been pulled down from the home. I talked with Lee about my desires. I definitely wanted the deck/pergola removed and replaced. The old deck could only be accessed from the master bedroom, which meant if we wanted to invite friends and family up, they would come through my room...not okay. I wanted stairs and Lee came up with a design for stairs.. ;). Next, the pergola was a waste of space in my opinion so Lee worked with my request do away with a pergola and have a really large deck.During the demo, Oscar and his co-worker were able to see that the whole deck was barely hanging on...just a few bolts keeping it up...yikes!!!The final result is fantastic! Nice company to work with, professional, creative, reasonably priced.Heidi helped me envision what my patio could look like, followed through each step of the way, she was a pleasure to work with. The carpenter and helper were courteous, neat and did a fantastic job. Ive referred them to several of my neighbors who love their work.
We shopped deck companies and settled on River City. GREAT DECISION! After our pool was complete RC came in and built a wonderful 30 x 30 deck in 4 days! Heidi the sales gal was professional and the crew was awesome. They made sure everything was exactly how I wanted it done with no fussing. Dont hesitate hiring these guys for your project.

We bought a new house that only had a small concrete slab, Lee came out to discuss what we wanted, point us in the right direction concerning design and options, and quickly put together a schematic for us. Materials were dropped off on a Monday, we met the workers Tuesday morning, they were friendly and respectful of our yard (they cleaned up each day and kept trash in a bag), and they asked me each morning if I had any concerns. The deck was completed in full including clean up by early Friday morning. Would fully recommend this company to anyone worried about trusting their job to someone as there wasnt anything more I could have asked for for a smooth experience.

We wanted our porch screened in and we had set up 3 consultations and was going to go with the 1st one, but we still kept our appointment with the 3rd consultation (River City Decks) and I am so glad we did!!! After sitting down with Heidi our vision of what the screened in porch would be like came to life and the vision expanded!! And we knew the estimated cost before she left. We now have a beautiful screened in porch and a new deck with fewer steps!!! This is my favorite place to be! The crew (Adrian) was very professional and skilled! WOW!Ive been involved in designing and building restaurants and bars (and our homes) for a long time and have dealt with numerous contractors. So refreshing to deal with Professionals. No hard sell - No slick sales approach - No BS. The owner came by to take measurements to prepare a quote. I mentioned in passing that I was stymied on how to deal with the drop off of the land up against the house between the back patio and the garage. I had landscapers give ridiculous quotes on retaining walls, etc. He quietly walked around some more and then showed me a sketch of a boardwalk. Holy Mackerel it pulled the whole project together. I even called with a change order. Something I would avoid in other projects but No problem. Just time and materials addition without the gouge. Highly Highly recommend this company. Price was great for the Quality of work
Save yourself a lot of time and hassle with warranty issues and use someone other than River City Deck and Patio for your project. Lee Lairmore and his crew really impressed me when they first came out to design and build my outdoor arbor. However, due to no ones fault, a board split and needed to be replaced. This is when it became extremely difficult to get Lee to do anything about it. After several texts back and forth, Lee finally agreed to send one of his crew out to replace the split board. I had asked if it would be easier to stain the board before installation and he told me no but he would have the company come out afterwards to stain it. Over a month later I decided to contact Lee again and he told me that the company had been trying to contact me and left me several voice messages. I told Lee that I didnt receive any messages. I certainly would have responded to these messages had I received them. I told him fine, I would reach out to this company to schedule the staining myself and asked him twice for the name and the contact number. He finally told me to look it up on his website as he didnt have time for me. I did reach this company and Lee had provided them with the wrong number to contact me.Call me old fashioned but the warranty work was the responsibility of Lee and his company. Good customer service would be for them to handle all aspects of the warranty work, to include staining a 12 board that needed to be replaced, and not to ask the customer to coordinate with two different companies. Good customer service would also follow up to make sure the repairs were done satisfactorily.The lesson here is to do your homework and thoroughly research a company to include how they honor their warranty. Lee is great at initial impressions but his follow-up leaves something to be desired.
Lee was great to work with. Communication was clear throughout the process. His many years of experience show in our new deck! He helped design and problem solve in ways we hadn’t thought of. Would highly recommend.
After getting three quotes my wife and I signed with Lee and his team at River City Deck & Patio. We are extremely happy with the decision and the outcome. The project was done on-time and in the budget as quoted even with the rising lumber costs and amount of rain we received. The crew was very professional and the quality is outstanding. We will absolutely use them for our next project.
So I’m reading Lee’s replies to some of the unhappy reviews and it’s definitely hilarious! My friend/neighbor had a bad experience with a shady contractor Who gave her an estimate then ripped her fence down and quoted additional fee’s after all her fencing was ripped down! So it made me think of recommending Lee and his company!Lee is straight to the point, professional, very responsive, friendly, and upfront with the work and the bottom line estimates. No extraordinary surprise fee’s, the work gets done in a timely manner. Even the guys he sends out are very responsive and do great with communicating with the customers.When I asked Lee to come and give me an estimate, he helped me decide on exactly what I wanted and needed based on New Braunfels city ordinances and the shape/grade of my plot. He addressed any and all questions or concerns throughout the process. I’m extremely happy about the deck and pergola they built in August of 2018.I’m very happy with the price I paid and the quality of work! Thank you and your team Lee!

Lee, the owner was really good about giving us a time frame when the job would get started considering all the rain delays. We were previous customers, and enjoyed our last patio/deck so much that when we moved, we immediately called Lee to come help us improve our new backyard. Lee was able to bring our vision to life, and Adrian and his crew were great during the construction process. We had our front porch enclosed, stairs added to our back patio, and a deck build off of our pool area. Everything turned out wonderfully and we couldn’t be happier.

Our deck was completed last week. Before deciding to go with River City Deck and Patio, we interviewed 3 other companies. I wasnt thrilled with any of them and thought I was going to have to settle. As luck would have it someone referred us to River City before I had to make my final decision. I knew as soon as I met Lee that they were the right company for us. They were great to work with, very patient and very professional. I had to delay for several months due to our new house construction delays and Lee was very accommodating. Both the guys working on our deck (two brothers) were very nice and also very professional. They measured and remeasured everything to make sure it was just right. I highly recommend River City Decks. They did a great job and we love our new deck.
This is the second job from River City Deck and Patio done to enhance our home. They created a deck to accommodate our backyard five years ago. And it is still in excellent shape. This time I wanted to complete the deck with an arbor. The arbor turned out wonderful, offering the shade that we wanted, without it feeling closed up. The plans that Lee drew up for both jobs, very much enhanced and accommodated the space that best worked for the area. And they were able to extended the jacuzzi area as I requested, and it turned out perfect. Lee listened to our request, and offered the excellent choices for the area. The two workers were very polite and courteous and hard workers, the arbor was completed in two days. They did an Excellent job and our Thanks to your company. Having remodeled homes numerous times over the past 40 years, I have never had a more pleasant experience than I had dealing with Lee Lairmore and River City Deck and Patio. First, he arrived on time, rare for salespeople or contractors. Second, he spent time getting to know us, listening to what we wanted. Third, as our current deck failed after only nine years he thoroughly investigated what the cause was before we discussed what he would do differently. Fourth, he at no time gave us a sales pitch.He explained what the city code for deck construction was and that was just a minimum, the old deck did not meet any code!. He explained how and why his company exceded the code, and that was the reason his company had a 5-year warranty on the deck.I come from the old school of doing business, we agreed on a price and he put me on his busy schedule with just a handshake. He did not request any money down, later, when I received his official contract, there were no surprises, it was exactly as we discussed.His crew was very polite and they arrived on time and explained their plan for the project. They carefully removed all the old deck leaving no debris anywhere. The new deck frame was far more substantial than the previous and the deck boards were carefully matched to give the best appearance.Lee and his crew did an amazing job and they were a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend them without reservation.

Removing and disposing of the old, rotting deck and then building and re-installing the new one took less than 3 days. I was truly amazed at the craftsmanship. Lee revamped the original design a bit and I must say, compared to the original deck, its like looking at night and day. A vast improvement to the original at a more than fair price. We went through 6 different Deck builders before deciding to go with River City. We had an area that we wanted a walk way in that several deck builders would not even touch due to the angles. Lee did not see any issues with this and it came to pass that he was correct. The 2 man crew he sent out did an outstanding job on a deck that is just under 1000 square feet with an Arbor. They were highly skilled and could not have been happier with them. I highly recommend River City and would do business with them again. Considering the quality of our deck I do not think it will be anytime soon.
We have wanted to replace our deck since we moved to our house in 2015. We received information and quotes from several builders and decided to go with River City Deck and Patio. My husband and I couldnt be more pleased! Not only is the deck beautiful and exactly what we wanted but the project was completed within the requested time frame in spite of 6 weeks of non-stop rain. The company representative, Heidi, made it her business to understand our needs and made suggestions to us as she drew up the plans which proved to be spot on. The crew remained the same throughout the job and was professional, thorough and extremely helpful. Lee came out to our house and gave an estimate and discuss the design. He even made recommendations on the design to keep the cost down. The estimate was very reasonable for a cedar deck. He was able to get a crew started within three weeks. During that time, we secured the HOA’s approval and city’s permits. His estimate included that costs, so there were no surprise fees. Once the crew got started, we had to slightly alter the plans. The deck wound up as a walk out versus a step down. The alteration required some steps, which we hadn’t discussed. Because of the change of plans Lee offered to absorb some of the cost, which you normally don’t find. I was very grateful and appreciative that he did this. The crew that came out was extremely professional and did a phenomenal job. The builder even recommended the design of the steps. I cannot reiterate how satisfied we are with the actual finished product, which in my opinion is better than I had imagined it to be. I would absolutely recommend River City Decks for your project.
I had a great experience with River City Deck and Patio. We bought this house last fall and the patio became very unstable shortly after. We had one other estimate given and I just didnt feel comfortable about it. I found River City on Google and had scheduled an estimate consultation in the beginning of March. Lee come out to inspect our existing patio and recommend a project for a whole new patio which I knew we needed. He did an awesome job giving us direction and ideas. The job was delayed a week because of my indecisiveness of adding additional items to our project but Lee was there to answer any questions. He was great with communicating with me even when phone calls were not the best form of communication for ME. When his crew showed up on Monday they we very nice and communicated every step they took. When all was done the patio looked beautiful. I was so happy but still felt it was missing something. When I emailed Lee on a possibility of adding a wrap around step he responded with a reasonable estimate promptly. Once we agreed his crew was out the next day and finished with in just a few hours according to my husband. When I came home I just fell in love with it. My dogs enjoy sitting on the patio deck and for the first time since we bought the house, I can honestly say I feel in love with my home. Thank you for doing a great job!! We hired River City to install a deck for my new Hot tub inside of my existing deck. Pricing was fair and comparable to other quotes so I selected them due to the interview I had with Heidi where I could see they were high quality. They gave me a date and time and they showed up on time even a little early. They completed the job in less time than expected and I couldnt have asked for a more solid foundation to hold my 6000lb hot tub. I was so impressed with the crew I gave them a solid tip before they left. I will look to River City for any future Deck needs
I would not normally review, but I am very grateful to Heidi, Lee and Oscar for the deck they designed and build. It looks better than even my hopes for it. The more I get used to it, the more I like all of it: the design, the quality of materials, the construction and the attention to detail. It took some time with all the rain, but Lee was careful to make sure it was done right and that is what is most important. I would highly recommend River City to anyone.

Wanted to screen in an existing deck w/ pergola. Heidi came out to our house and drew up some designs. We agreed on price, which was very reasonable. Two-man carpenter crew finished the work in three days. Roofers finished in one. All were very courteous. Quality of the work was top notch. I recently had my 10 year old deck torn down and replaced by River City Deck & Patio. I first spoke with Lee who is top notch in customer service and is very dependable and honest. He scheduled me in and they did a fantastic job! I mean, they are very detailed with their work and take great pride in the product. When we moved into our new home, we knew that we wanted to repay his kindness by hiring his company to build our new deck. The project was completed yesterday and we love what was delivered. A design true to the original concept, immaculately cut, sanded and fitted. Our deck was designed around to fit around a very curvy pool, so you can imagine the detailed work that took place. I had many estimates before working with River City. No one prior to them seemed to give the full details of what work would be done and what the exact price would be. Many of them didnt even try to assist me with options of what I could get or take into consideration what I was looking for. That was all different with River City. Heidi couldnt have been more helpful or patient. She really listened to our concerns and ideas and was willing to stay in budget! She didnt rush us at all and thoroughly went over things with us to reach a final decision. Once construction started Lee was always available for any questions or concerns along the way. The team that came out to work was super friendly and showed us exactly how things would work and took time to listen and answer questions as well. We even made some modifications along the way, but all in all Lee was great and got back with me right away and always informed me of status. I absolutely love our new deck and extended patio. It is such a drastic improvement to our home and I know will last for a very long time. They really did a wonderful job and I would without hesitation recommend them to anyone.
After looking at a few other contractors my wife and I were sold on River City from the start. Heidi was very professional and knowledgeable about everything in relation to an outdoor deck and living setup. She worked with what we wanted, needed and within our budget. She even patiently set through and drew out a few plans and really customized the deck to make it look unique. She took into consideration our kids and how they can enjoy the space as well. The contractors were very polite, quick and detailed when walking me through what was done and what they will be working on. They did not leave a mess and did not cause a disturbance what so ever. I highly recommended River City if you are looking for a very affordable, high end deck, where the experience is just as good as the product.
My husband and I reached out to several companies for quotes for our covered patio, but after meeting with Heidi, I was sold. She was beyond friendly, very knowledge and most importantly (in my opinion) honest. She was completely transparent about all costs, construction time frames and explained our options in great detail. Making this investment to enhance our new home was a no-brainer.Through the process, Lee was very accommodating, always willing to answer my random questions and responded lightning quick when we needed him. Though we never met the crew in person, we were floored by their speed, skill and cleanliness. Lee and his team were great! The consultation was easy and informative. He was really patient and came back out when we were ready since we needed to wait a little longer on our side to review and make sure we were still good with the original plans. Made our first payment and the team was out there the next day we didnt have rain, so two days later. They were very professional and the work throughout the process was top notch. They kept us up to date throughout the project. The roofers came out towards the end and did their part. Even found some issues with our house roof (some my fault and some my builders) resolved the issues even though they couldnt get a hold of me knowing it was the right thing. Cost was minimal and I was more than happy to pay and thankful they told me about the issues. I would recommend them to anyone and will definitely use them in the future if we ever move.
Lee, Heidi, and the team at River City Deck and Patio did an incredible job on our deck. They designed our project from scratch based upon our needs, and were very professional from start to finish. They even designed and built a dog house for our English Mastiff and Bulldog to hang out underneath. We love it, and my in-laws liked it so much, they gave them a call and have started their own project. I did a ton of research to find the right company to build our deck and it paid off. You cant go wrong with these guys.
River City Deck and Patio was referred to me by friend of mine after the company constructed a beautiful and unique pergola for them. I had a very challenging issue that I was looking for a skilled artisan to remedy. I contacted Lee, the owner, and he agreed to come take a look at my issue. He was very thorough and after a lengthy deliberation he proposed a solution that we both felt was appropriate. His lead carpenter, Oscar, a true artisan, and Robert did both the demo and then the new construction. The result was better than what I had hoped for and I am very happy. I initially interviewed about 6 companies to find the best people to do the deck on our newly built house. I met Lee and immediately wanted to give him the job. Unfortunately, Id had another company who was going to give me a good price on landscaping and the deck combined. The problem came when they never sent me a formal bid and kept changing the price. I finally said, forget it and called Lee. He was able to start within 5 business days. He honored the original bid he gave me the day he came to measure, which was very competitive with the other 6 bids I received. We figured it would take about 3 days. His guys showed up on Monday and told me theyd have it done that day! They built my 14x18 deck with a gate, rail and step in about 6 hrs. They were very professional and friendly and cleaned up when they were finished. Im so pleased with my deck and cant wait to get my patio furniture out there! Thanks Lee!!

We recently had a deck and screen room added and are extremely happy with the result. All of the people we dealt with, including the craftsmen that did the work, were pleasant, knowledgeable and professional.We do however have one issue that contributes to 4 stars - the screen door for the screen room is extremely cheap for the price we paid for the screen room, and the screen was different material than the rest of the screen room. Lee was going to get back to me after talking to his installer, but we did not get the call. I went to Lowes and picked up new screen and installed that after having to remove the existing screen to stain the door.I would still recommend River City despite the issue with the door.FOLLOW UP - Lee did get back to me and within days his man was onsite and built a much more solid and functional screen door..... this is a company that works hard to make its customers happy. I have upped this my rating to 5 stars - highly recommended.
Great folks to work with. They take you from the conceptual ideas and drawing it out on paper to the finished product. Looks great and the quality is very nice. They take care of you and communicate what they are planning. Took a few weeks for the workers to come out and build the deck, but thats because of the backlog from the May rains we had and everyone wants to work with them. They built my deck in 5 days. Workers were very good and friendly to my family. I would recommend them to anyone looking to build a deck or patio that you want to show off to friends and family, or relaxing by yourself. I love my new deck!

Great experience all around. Started with the design, communication, construction and follow up could not have been more professional. Heidi suggested the perfect arbor for us. The construction crew arrived and explained their actions for the day and completed the project 90 minutes prior to their own estimation. Lee provided the extra touch of calling us and ensuring all was to our liking. Price was outstanding!!!!!! Simply put, it is beautiful work, from the thorough, attractive design stage, with a focus on functionality of the kitchen as well as aesthetics (credit Heidi) - to the meticulous, careful, and skillful building of the kitchen (credit Bill). I would also like to mention Robert, whom I did not meet for the awesome sturdy frame he built offsite (this is a great idea, by the way)!For all that was done and the quality of the work, the price was very reasonable. I received estimates from two other sources which had neither the detail nor completeness of this design in meeting our requirements, but which actually would have cost me MORE per linear foot.Heidi and Bill made recommendations throughout the entire process which complimented our ideas very nicely.The end result is an outdoor kitchen which not only looks great in our patio but will provide everything we need to serve smoked, grilled food, drinks, condiments, etc. to many of our guests for years to come! River City Deck and Patio added a screened room to my existing patio. The room is beautiful and I am very happy with it. Kenny worked very hard and was very knowledgeable about things. I have no knowledge about screened rooms but he communicated with me and built things that I was not expecting to have. He was a pure joy to have around. Cant say that about alot of companies! Kenny, I love my ledge and already have all my flameless candles sitting on it. Lee and Heidi are very personable and efficient. I am a first time homeowner and new to the game of hiring contractors to do projects. I found River City Deck and Patio by researching deck and patio contractors on the internet.Right off the bat I was highly impressed with River City. I called and spoke to Lee. We setup a consultation for Heidi to come out and do a design consultation (which is free). I was very impressed with how detailed and conceptual the design work was. Heidi handled submitting paperwork to our HOA to get approval before construction could begin.On to construction -Construction began promptly after our HOA approved the project. Oscar (construction worker) is very professional, trustworthy, friendly and most importantly does IMPECCABLE work. His work is of the utmost high quality workmanship . I am impressed at how detailed our deck and patio is. Today was the last day of construction for our deck and patio. Construction took about a week.All in all, River City exceeded my expectations. I could not be more satisfied. If you are looking for a deck / patio contractor in the San Antonio area, take my advice and use RIVER CITY.Any future project needs we have, we will use River City and I will always recommend them to friends and coworkers. River City built a deck for my daughters family. We have all enjoyed it - eat out there whenever we can. So we hired them to build a railing around our huge patio which is 9 off the ground! It is beautiful and super safe for our grandchildren. They also built stairs which will serve to get down to the backyard.
Hiring a contractor to work at or on my home is nerve-racking, and to say the least, my least favorite thing to do... period... Despite that, we decided that we wanted (3) patio projects done at once. So, we began the interview process with approximately 8 patio/deck contractors, including Lee. He was referred to us by friends who had an amazing covered patio built by Lees crews. Almost 2 years went by, still no patio, and we found ourselves calling Lee again. He patiently sat with us and discussed our thoughts and ideas once again. Finally, we made the decision to go for it - one week before X-mas! Our crew of 2, Adrian and Joel, were very respectful to us and to our property. They cleaned up after each days work, and gladly fixed up or cleared up any areas of concern that we pointed out. Our projects, a 14x30 arbor, pool fence, and deck with an arbor turned out more beautiful than I imagined! I literally started crying when I walked outside and saw my completed deck! The entire job was completed in 5 working days. I cant thank Lee enough for being patient with us and assigning Adrian and Joel to our projects. It is a distinct honor to recommend Lee and the River City Deck and Patio team not because they did any work for us but instead they are a first class organization, who are honest, upfront and extremely helpful. Yesterday, Lee visited with my wife and I as we were looking at some improvements in our back yard living space. Keep in mind, at this point my wife and I had over 6 different contractors visit and give us their recommendations and estimates on what they could do for us, to include stamped concrete, flagstone, wood deck, etc. To our pleasant surprise, Lee was honest and upfront and basically told us he was not the contractor for us. It was not a matter of he could not perform the work, hardly that, but just a matter of the size and scope of what we were asking for. Instead of saying have a nice day, Lee provided us referrals for several businesses that he personally endorses and they would be able to help us accomplish our goals. After he departed, we visited his recommended Garden Center and found exactly what we were looking for. Today we met with his stone expert and we hired him on the spot...why, because they were professional, upfront and honest with what they recommended and could do for us. It was definitely a breath of fresh air dealing with Lee and his colleagues...first class all the way!
I received what I thought was and okay / Fair estimate from River City deck and patio. They wanted part of the cost of materials upfront, then the rest of the payment after they were done. I agreed to this payment method and had the funds available. They sent me the paperwork with a lump sum on it. I asked them for an itemized list of materials to be used on the deck so that I could pay for the materials upfront and have it for my records. That is when I did not hear from them anymore. Completely ghosted after a polite email. When I have had things built in the past, people have provided me an itemized list and the costs. I am certainly glad I did not go with them now because if they are unwilling to be transparent with costs and materials... what else were they hiding? Also if they would have communicated with me about that being their policy(no itemized list/breakdown of costs), I could have moved on to a different company sooner. I am happy to pay people for their work(even if its extra to get a reliable person), but I just ask that they be upfront and honest. 2 stars for a nice design and okay pricing. UPDATE: for the record, my email to them was politely asking for an itemized list... but stating they could still come out and do the work. Their paperwork doesnt mention that no itemized list will be available. Also If the team was in route they never called, nor did they show up(weird). And they were unwilling to even discuss coming out after the email which is odd. I dont write reviews (unless things like this happen) but I have 6 five star reviews posted(there are some great companies that do honest work!) and 8 one-two star reviews up. Hopefully River City deck and patio will just communicate better next time. Someone asking for a list of materials is nothing to get defensive over Mr. Lee(unless you have things to hide). And it is good to let people know if a team is on their way. River City Deck and Patio also attempted to push me into doing the project when there was no one at home(during the thanksgiving holiday) which made me feel uncomfortable. At that time they gave me less than a one day notice. Finally, These reviews are to help companies do better and customers feel safer. They are not intended to maliciously hurt anyone. I could not be happier with the work and customer service I received from River City Deck and Patio. From the first visit through the entire project it was a pleasure to deal with everyone. Our project was not without its difficulties but at every turn River City went above and beyond to make us happy. It has been a wet summer and the permit office in our city is difficult to deal with but again Lee and his team did a fantastic job.
We are very happy with our new arbor. Lee came out, gave us our options and drew up a plan. We loved the crew and they did a great job in building our large arbor and cleaned up once they were done. I don’t recall ever writing a business review but I know I have to share the wonderful experience that I had with River City Deck and Patio. Last year I moved into a brand-new home that had innumerable issues with the home itself and drainage issues all around it. For months, every day was spent fixing one thing or another. At one point, instead of fixing the problem, my builders even suggested that I plan and build my patio and arbor around their drainage problems. Dealing with the builders and the builder managed HOA was exhausting. Then, came along Lee. After assessing my drainage issues, my vision, my HOA and builder restrictions, Lee went to work. During our first visit he assured me that I would love what he would plan out for me and he was right!! His plan was bigger and better than I imagined, the cost fit right into my budget, and he handled all the paperwork with the HOA. Indirectly, Lee’s plan even forced the builders to finally fully acknowledge and correct their own drainage issues. Without a doubt, this was the easiest and best project I have completed in this home. I love my beautiful patio and arbor!! Thank you River City Deck and Patio!

The Sales rep was considerate, and focused on designing my patio based on my family lifestyle. The owner of the company followed the project every step and kept me informed on the progress.The construction Associates that did the labor work were outstanding and picked up after their job every day. The River City crew built us a large attached rear patio and cover structure. My wife and I wanted it to match the exterior of the house as well as possible. And they succeeded! Every aspect of their work from pouring the concrete slab to designing the main structure to making it flow into the existing roof was faultlessly done. It was a pleasure working with Lee; he was very responsive and always available during the design and construction process. I provided Lee a design plan for our Pergola and Oscar, his carpenter worked with me and made it better. I am a civil engineer and construction manager and Oscar exceeded my expectations. He arrived on time, kept the job site clean, and did quality work, all difficult qualities to find these days.
So disappointed with the quality of work River City Deck and Patio. After eight years when they built my deck started collapse. And they dont want to admit that this is there fold even the other builder sad that is the bilders mistake. Absolutely not happy with their work and there worranty.

My wife and I originally hired Gebhardt Designs out of New Braunfels, TX to create a functional and enjoyable space in our backyard for entertaining; what we got was an embarrassing eye sore that we found ourselves avoiding. Thankfully I was able to find River City Deck and Patio. I initially met with Lee and he immediately expressed his regret for our unfortunate situation. Lee was very informative and even before I decided to employ his services, he made me feel more educated about how the work should have been done. He recognized issues with the products and techniques used by Gebhardt Designs but quickly provided a resolution to our problem. The resolution turned out to be an incredible space that we can’t wait to utilize. I also need to mention that the guys that Lee has performing the work are extremely personable and very knowledgeable in their trade. These guys take pride in their work and it’s easily apparent from the quality they put out. As victims of poor quality workmanship and a dishonest contractor, we are extremely grateful that Lee and his guys have provided the complete opposite. We could not be more pleased with our deck and arbor. When Lee came out to give us the quote, I told him I knew what I wanted but I didnt know what I wanted. He listened to my ideas, gave me his suggestions for the space and drew up a plan. During the week of the install, I was always kept in the loop on what was going on. The installers kept the backyard very clean and free of debris because they knew I had kids and pets. When it was all finished..I was in awe! It was exactly what I didnt know I wanted!! I am very satisfied with the new Arbor and all the work done by River City Deck. Heidi first came out and gave me options with a detailed drawing, she was very professional and very experienced. The next crew came out led by Jeremy put arbor up very polite answered all my questions did excellent job. Next crew out was concrete crew led by Joe they too were very professional friendly did excellent job only problem during this portion of job was city inspectors from Cibolo, even though they were very unprofessional, unfriendly and determined to slow job down Joe and his crew handle it well and finished job. Next crew was the Datek crew they put finish on concrete they too were very professional came out explained job what I needed to do to maintain finish when I could get on it etc. Overall very pleased would not hesitate to use Lee and his crew again, thank you from a satisfied customer.
We did not have a good experience with them. We spent a lot of money for a patio that is just not what we asked for. Its supposed to be satisfaction guarantee, half up front and the rest at completion when youre satisfied with the work. Almost every step had mistakes. We had to move our sprinklers to build which was no problem, but when they came back out to arrange the sprinklers around the concrete, it was discovered that the people pouring concrete cut the wires and we had to rewire the sprinklers. Cost an extra $250. The stone work was not the color we requested, the paint doesnt match my house, the stain essentially had to be redone 5 or 6 times because it was bubbling, and you can see where some of the stain is darker and uneven on the wood posts. I know the staining and painting was contracted out, but they were recommended by this company.I was unhappy with the patio and Lee knew but still pressed us for the rest of the money. The patio is beautiful but its not the image I had in my head. For the money we spent on this project I did expect profection and feel I was jerked around when I voiced my opinions. Customer service is just not what it used to be!
We decided to use River City to expand our concrete patio and build an arbor over it. Every step of the construction process was completed in a timely and professional manner. When the weather caused uncontrollable delays, communication was always immediate and honest. Lee and the guys were awesome. Previously I lived in another subdivision and had them come out to provide an estimate, but right away told us they could not build a patio cover due to city ordinances. This level of honesty impressed me so when I moved to my current home they were one of 3 estimates we received on a new patio cover. They listened to our needs and provided a solution and did not try to upcharge or push anything us. We are very happy with our patio cover and have already recommended them to neighbors.

River City Deck & Patio built a deck for me in August 2012. They did a fantastic job. I had recently remodeled my house & wanted a deck to complete the new look. RCD & P did a fantastic job. The crew was professional, they cleaned up after themselves, unlike my remodeler. They did quality work & finished it in a timely manner. Actually, they finished ahead of schedule. We had a pergola and concrete deck completed through River City. They were very informative, worked within our budget, and met their build timeline. They handled the HOA request as well. After having four different companies come out and give me an estimate for a screen room, I ended up going with River City to do the job. River City was the only company that I dealt with that does stick builds. The other companies I had come out all do the structall enclosures, and we really liked the look of a stick build over structall. River City came in thousands of dollars less on their estimate versus the other companies. Not only were they less expensive, but they offered way more for the price. I was able to get the screen room built, have extra concrete poured for a bbq area, get the concrete textured and stained, and had the screen room stained for less money than what others wanted to charge for just the screen enclosure.The quality of the screen room is excellent, and the privacy screens they use really work well. They do an excellent job of blocking out the sun while allowing enough air to circulate through the room to keep you cool. I have sat out there on 90 degree days and felt comfortable. I have used the room numerous times to host dinners and entertain guests. Everyone comments on how nice the screen room is, and I always recommend River City to anyone who is interested in building one of their own. Now that I have the room I wish I would have had it built years ago. Save yourself the time and dont bother getting estimates from the other companies. Just give River City a call and get something youll actually love at an affordable price.
We had rapidly failing 450 sq ft composite deck. Our assigned construction crew of Jeremy and Damian was a perfect match. They made fast work of the demolition and haul away.They then constructed an attractive, solid cedar deck which matched our expectations perfectly. They utilized all the latest tools for fast, efficient construction. They left the job site tidy and meticulously clean.Our family would welcome these talented bothers for future builds! I interviewed several builders to help me build my dream patio, and Lee was referred to me by a co-worker. Ive had a referral from a co-worker before and that was not a good experience-it was a disaster. I was very weary about going into this endeavor, because I am always afraid there is going to be a scam or that Im simply not going to get what I pay for and then just have to live with it, however Lee and his crew exceeded my expectations. The process was affordable, on schedule (weather permitting), virtually painless, and I am very pleased with work-I LOVE IT! I look forward to enjoying my new patio that includes a new beautiful arbor, and outdoor kitchen, and Sundek texturing to the flooring. Large deck demolition and even larger patio and overhead cover construction. They were great to work with in designing the project, recommending changes and listening to our concerns. Their contractors were all very easy to work with and very skilled tradespeople. They took care of all the paperwork and made the experience headache free. We wont use anyone else.
My Name is Tim reilly, my wife Sharyl and I Iive in Ranger Creek, Boerne, TX 78006. I contacted River City Deck and Patio after seeing their website on Google. I was impressed with their site and the pictures of buildings they had done, I wish I could post my pictures here. I contacted them and shortly thereafter Heidi Keyes got back to me asking what we were interested in doing. My wife and I have lived at our home in Boerne for 15 years with a one car garage for this whole time. Our place is paid off now and we wanted a nice carport. Heidi came out, listened to what were interested in and immediately drew the plan. It was perfect, a 3 car, carport. It was pricey though, about 5K more than I expected since I wanted I wanted cedar posts and facia and decorative street facing gables. I had a number in mind which we would not go beyond. Heidi called her boss Lee, explained our situation and he started working numbers. Within 15 minutes we had come to terms. The actual builders were first quality guys who really knew right away what we wanted and they insisted it be perfect, to the point of pulling down their start when it was not what either of us (them and me ) had in mind. They did just an excellent job, were very affiable and exceptionally professional. The job was completed in in a very reasonable timeframe. The roofers showed up as our builders were finishing their work. The roof came out looking as if it had been built into the house 15 years ago. Absolutely Perfect. I cant endorse this company enough. Spot on to my every wish and demand. I would recommend them for any project I had in mind. In fact Ive got another Idea coming up for the summer already. Not happy with work done on my screened in porch. The roof is still leaking after roofer came to reseal roof. But the water is not draining through down spout. The screen door is too heavy for the hinges and dragging when opened and closed. The door frame is not straight. There are missing screws on deck boards so wood is cracking. This was so not worth what I paid for it. I am so unhappy with the work they did.
Big job!! two-story deck and main entry and garage steps at townhouse all replaced! Materials used were first class, workmanship was extremely good and everyone involved was totally professional. Clearly the work crew and management were very experienced and easily dealt with all potential problems on the fly. All construction is very sturdy and better than we ever imagined. Looks wonderful too. Grandkids will have a much safer place to play in nice weather.
In the interests of full disclosure; I am the owner of The Dexpert Stain and Coatings. Our company has a fantastic relationship with River City Deck and Patio. The reason for my review is that in the previous review from Mr. Derrick Walker, we are the stain company in question. We were referred by River City to the Walkers and I wanted to take the opportunity to clarify a few issues from our end. First off let me apologize again to the Walkers for the issues that we had in getting our portion of their project completed. We did indeed receive a bad lot of concrete sealer from our vendor which did nor cure correctly and caused a bubbling issue. Mrs. Walker brought this to our attention 2 days after we originally sealed the concrete and we immediately arranged to have the project inspected to determine the problem. We were initially unable to identify any specific reason for the failure so we solvent washed and resealed the concrete only to have it bubble again. Within 2 days we received calls from other customers experiencing the same issue and were able to narrow the problem down to a specific lot of sealer. We then procured another batch of sealer, arranged to correct the issues and proceeded to do so at our expense. Unfortunately, the process to correct the sealer was neither easy nor quick and it did require several trips to each affected project to complete the repair and reseal. I understand that this required additional patience on the part of the Walkers, but we did our best to be both apologetic and accommodating. The other issues outlined in the review were the inconsistency of the color on the posts which we re-stained at the customers request, and the color difference from the new to the old paint on the home. The reasons for these complaints are common, but we do try to make sure that every customer is made aware that stained wood will have natural variations in color and that newly applied paint will never match existing even with matched color codes. Differences in tone and sheen are common and can be caused by both sun exposure and surface dirt. Now, explanations aside let me address my worst failure on this project. The Dexpert is a referral based company. We are often the last trade to finish on most projects; and as such we are sensitive to the fact that we need to listen to each customers concerns so that when the project is finally wrapped up, they are satisfied. In the case of the Walkers both myself and my business partner Craig Spearman were involved in the resolution of the sealer issue as well as the other items. We have not heard from the Walkers since, but it seems evident that in spite of our responsiveness, Mr. Walker is not satisfied. I have always told my customers that in the construction business, there will be hiccups and it is easier to stay smiling if you judge the product rather than the process. Additionally I echo the sentiment that Lee expressed in his response that the measure of a company isnt whether or not everything goes exactly as planned, the measure of a company is whether or not they make it right when it doesnt. To that end, I invite Mr. Walker to contact me directly and let me know if there is anything I can do on behalf of The Dexpert and River City Deck and Patio to bring him greater satisfaction with the finished project at his home.
Have dealt with other contractors in the area and am always skeptical. I was quoted a price that was reasonable and given a timeframe of about 5 days for the project. Was expecting it to take about 3 weeks given how things typically work with contractors. Project was completed on budget in 2 days with excellent workmanship. Highly recommend for any deck/arbor/pergola project!
River City exceeds their reputation. Professional from start to finish. Lee is excellent at following thru on jobs and time lines. They also help with permits, and HOA approval. Plus they offer warranty. I highly recommend River City Deck and Patio. You will not be disappointed.
Horrible experience! Once you sign the paperwork, you are on your own. They dont call or follow-up on any part. I asked that someone come out and take a look at the poor work that was done on our Patio Cover, Deck and Concrete work that was not built to the inspectors satisfaction so they then sent another contractor to fix it to satisfy the inspector but they messed it up worse than before. Just a nightmare. Finally got approved by the inspector (which they made me pay for!). Dont be fooled. They do not provide quality work or customer service. I went with them because they had good reviews. Obviously, FULL OF FAKE REVIEWS!!!
I called River City to come to my home to visit with me about screening in my patio. I met with Lee and from the beginning I felt pretty confident he would complete this project to my liking. He listen to what I wanted and when he finished thats what I got. Very professional and the workmanship and price were right on the money.
Great experience from start to finish. Designer helped us create the space we wanted while staying within our budget. Construction team was clean, respectful of our home and worked quickly. When we had a design challenge during construction, they worked with us and gave us options to maintain the integrity of the design without compromising the structure.

I checked with 4 different builders, and RCDP wasnt the lowest price and they were not the highest. But Lees professionalism and his knowledge with what needed to be done to complete the job was far better than any other bid that came in. Plus how long they have been in business along with their great rating prompted me to choose them over the others.

They did a great job building the deck. Only problem with it is that they have it leaning twards the house insteadof away. Now when it rains or i clean the deck all the water goes twards the house and puddels at the siding, not good. Would of been nice it they knew how to use a level!!!

2021-12-08Quality Leadership, quality craftsmanship and quality products. We did our research, took a few bids and River City Deck and Patio was our clear choice. No salesman; you deal directly with the owner. It’s like dealing with a financial advisor, you want someone you trust with your money and your home. Lee and his team of craftsmen were first class start to finish and the pictures are the proof. We love it. Replaced and expanded a 20 year old composite deck with concrete and cool coat. Added a pergola for shade. Three areas, sitting, dining and hot tub. Perfect.

2021-11-26Cant express enough our satisfaction with the final product that River City Deck and Patio constructed at our home. Our project entailed screening in a 10x10 concrete footing from which was extended a 28x12 cedar deck. When I say extended I mean extended -- our home sits on a severely sloped landscape which meant the deck was suspended nearly 20 high. Lee helped us create a plan that effectively met our spatial ambitions, building & HOA requirements, and budgetary constraints. James and Jacob constructed the deck within approx 8 business days. We were amazed at the pace & care with which this duo completed their work -- especially as the deck suspended at such a significant height. Though it was a physically taxing project, they proceeded with a degree of professionalism we admired -- could tell they took a great deal of pride in the product they were building. Neighbors have commented on the quality of the craftsmanship. Several pictures are provided. The screened space will serve as a mosquito free, UV protected space we can enjoy during summer nights. The arbored deck space will serve as an outdoor dining area that we can use to entertain friends. The remaining uncovered deck space will be used to grill, enjoy a fire pit and lounge in the sun when desired. Love the way this project has come together. River Citys bid was competitive with other builders -- plan was superior and I cant imagine the craftmanship could be better. Overall an excellent value. The deck should be stained by a separate party within 10 weeks -- well provide updated pictures at that time.

2021-07-06Loved working with Lee and Heidi to bring an image in my head to life. I felt like I was treated as a highly respected family member. I got several bids. Heidi showed up and asked for the Platt map of my property and taught me about set backs. Had I chosen another builder, my front patio would have exceeded set back restrictions. They were priced mid-range and really worked with me to stay in budget. They were forthcoming and honest about any changes I wanted that may not be the best idea. The various crews that Lee sent were extremely polite, professional, and knowledgeable in their craft. They let me know if they had concerns and contacted Lee on the spot. They also replaced my fence and did an amazing job quickly. This is my go to team! Before and after pictures. Yes same house!

2021-08-12We are incredibly happy with River City Deck and Patio and would highly recommend them!!We’ve been wanting to build a deck off of our elevated porch for years. We did lots of research on who could do it and choose River City Deck and Patio based on some reviews we saw on Nextdoor. So glad we did!After my initial email request for info the owner Lee reached out and scheduled a consultant to come talk with me. We met Heidi the next week who came out and listened to my thoughts and ideas. She drew up a design plan including costs before she left. She indicated if we moved forward it would be 5 or 6 weeks when they could start and that it would likely take 8 days. Absolutely zero sales pressure. We looked over the design and texted her asking to change a few things which she did the next day and submitted a revised quote. We let her know we were happy to move forward and then expected to wait for the 5 weeks.Lee called a few days later saying that had a shuffle of clients in their schedule and they could start the next week. Woohoo!!Carlos’s two person team showed up at 7:30 every day and worked until 4 or so. They were 100% professional and they were FAST!!! It was amazing to watch the progress each day. They had it done in 4.5 working days (7 calendar days with rain). Amazing!!!Our neighbor has a similar type deck so it’s easy to compare details and quality. Hands down our deck construction is so much more professional. It’s the little details like the cornered edge and end caps that make it really stand out.We are 100% happy with the entire process from start to finish. Highly recommend River City Deck!

My mother has worked with him on several projects, and even when multiple other deck and patio companies have told her that her ideas were simply not possible, Lee never failed to design something beautiful and perfect to bring her visions for her yard to life. 2021-12-13We wanted to enclose our patio with screen to control insects. We weren’t sure exactly what we wanted but Lee came over and made suggestions as well as listened to what we wanted.He drew up a plan and gave us a cost estimate and a tentative construction schedule. We agreed to the plan and signed right up.It was really cool how the different crafts people came and did their specialty parts of the project, each time, leaving everything neat and tidy.The patio was completed on time and it looks absolutely fantastic! We’ve had our neighbors over and they, too, have been impressed with the work.The main point of this review is not to brag about how cheaply we had it done. It’s to brag how well it was done. If you want something done as cheaply as possible, go look elsewhere. If you want something done right, as promised and leave you with a product you can be proud of and that enhances you home investment, use River City Patio and Deck.As a bonus, Lee’s crews fixed a problem with a marble slab that had come free on my outdoor kitchen!Danny

These folks are straight shooters! After a few more estimates, there was no doubt who we were going with.
