We LOVE River legacy park! There’s everything here. They have lots of fields for a variety of sports activities. They have a fantastic themed play toy to climb on. Loads of picnic tables in and out of shade. Lots of grills for cooking. But the best part in our opinion are all of the wooded hiking trails, dirt trails for biking/hiking and paved trails as well…. miles and miles of them. We’ve seen loads of nature hanging out on the dirt trails and even armadillos on the busy paved paths. This park also has a little pond and a river. We’ve spent time catching and releasing minnows at the pond but never gone down to the river because of the steep high banks.
It is the best place near Arlington if you want a long cleanly maintained trail filled with wildlife(Bobcats, rabbits, armadillos, snakes, lots of different birds and insects)please don’t harm them. I willdefinitely suggest this place.I suggest this for any one who is looking for well maintained and safe road biking trail🚴🏻♂️. I am glad that I met some good people who have helped and encouraged me during my run 🏃🏻♂️ and cycling 🚴🏻♂️ routine. There are two points where you can see a beautiful sunset one somewhere near the 3.25 mile marker and one at 5.25 mile marker. This place has lots of safe place for kids to play around. Thanks for the efforts of the river legacy parks team for keeping it safe and clean place wildlife and people😊
I have been going to this park for years.. However it wasnt until this year that I discovered more trails that were off the paved sidewalks. For someone who enjoys hiking this was a find in an urban setting. With gas prices as high as they are, going here makes me feel as if I am somewhere far away without having travelled far. Ive run into bunnies and an armadillo, found a swamp, and enjoyed the birds, as well as stumbled upon lizards mating. Ive yet to see wild hogs or more dangerous wildlife and not really wanting to stumble upon them on the trail, but being in this park has given me what Im needing in a hike. Most of the trails Ive done are flat tho, so if you want a challenge youd have to find a trail with more inclines. Its also easy to get lost in the trails so I recommend using a map, all trails app or some other method to keep track of where you are going.
Great place to hike with kids. This park has a lot of trails. Pavement and dirt. There are several drop off areas right by the river so make sure you keep close to the little ones. The play equipment is really nice, however we only played once since we moved her in March and they have had the playground areas closed. When we first visited the had open restrooms and water fountains, but they have been closed due to the virus. We thoroughly enjoy this park for getting outside and being in nature. Make sure you bring mosquito spray and watch out for snakes. Earlier mornings and weekdays before lunch are the best time. The park is extremely busy on the weekend and weekday afternoons.
This is a huge and beautiful park, it has got little bit of everything and lots of huge green areas to do any kind of activity! It also has a pavilion and a Nature Center where you can bring your kids and have a great time doing cool activities (see pictures and video). It also has a beautiful running trail that goes into the little forest!! You spend a whole day here I love it!
What a park!Where do I start?First, its massive. If you like hiking or biking, youll love it. RLP has an 8-mile paved biking trail, not to mention the unpaved ones, which are webbed all over the park.It has a bit of everything; open fields, kids playgrounds, BBQ area, river (saw many kayakers), a pond, trees (more like a forest), calisthenics area, an event center, and abundant parking.Oh I almost forgot, theres a science center for kids under renovation at the time of writing. Moreover, its very well maintained. Its always clean, with countless trash cans spread around.Of course, with a park of this size and vegetation, youd expect a bit of wildlife. Ive seen raccoons and snakes, and other reviewers have reported seeing other animals. So, take necessary caution. Most importantly, it feels safe. I havent heard of any concerning incidents. Still, if youll venture into deep territory, be cautious.Weekends are usually busy for the obvious reasons. Nonetheless, there is still room for everyone. No, I have no qualms about this park.Enjoy!(Excuse the photos, was CLOUDY that day)
Great park with many areas and activities available. I ride the mountain bike trails and its a wonderful 10 mile loop suitable for beginners and families. Also has a more challenging section (EKG) for those with more skills. I think this is one of the nicest parks in Texas!
Great park. Good playground. Plenty of benches and grilling areas. Pavilions that can be rented out for outdoor parties . Big spacious fields and great trails for bike riding ,roller skating , runs and walks with the family. Beware of wild animals that live in the park. Weve seen a bob cat, raccoon, armadillo, Wolf spider on some of our walks.
Exceptional park for many activities. Its probably the best one in Arlington. Ive seen wedding photography, family gatherings and sports games, and much more. However, at night, it lives up to its haunted reputation. Whether anyone believes this or not, Ive seen what appeared to be a large ape like creature traveling from tree to tree. It could have very well been a man since illegal bird traps have been found here.
Amazing place to go if you need a quick escape to nature. Love coming here for biking, rollerblading, early morning yoga, walking my dog.. and just hiking around! The place has been around since I was a kid and has been maintained marvelously over the years! Family friendly, dog friendly, and very smooth, wide paved walkways for a wide range of activities!
My youngest daughter and I went on the walking trails in the evening. Been bringing my kids here for years! I told my daughter nocturnal animals and other critters come out right around dusk or at least when less people are around. Sure enough we heard coyotes on the other side of the river, a rabbit, thats what she thought she saw, it fast and pretty big, and a small snake crawling across the trail. Nice views of the river.
This is easily one of the best trails I been on. It is fairly easy to not lose track so you don’t have to wonder where you are without the map. It was muddy on some paths due to the rain a few days before but I had a great time. I look forward to revisiting this place to explore other nature spots.
This is the first park our family went to in Texas and still our kids’ favorite park. There are several play grounds, lots of open grass to run in, shaded picnic tables, a fishing pond, and extensive paved and unpaved walking trails. I love the big open feel this park has. Plenty of space for everyone.
I went there with my friend and the place is awesome, you could trail,go to the playgroundand and so on the place is soo big and there was a water fountain, public restroom, and a ice cream truck they was a sidewalk for bikes and there was also a place you could do a party I recommend going here it so much fun 😀
Ive been going to this park since I was a child and I love going down the many trails. Everyone should be on the lookout for wildlife and flooding when it rains. Be careful on the hidden trails and beware of cliffs that lead to the river. The newer playground that was built some years ago is great for the kids and being surrounded by nature is always a plus.
Nice pond, with decent structure, a nice view, and of course bass. It was still too cold to say much about the vegetation, other than there is some. I think I caught 2 dinks, but they weren’t tiny. This place is probably awesome when it warms up.**A lot of these ponds could benefit from the culling of smaller fish, or the transplant if larger fish. Of course, if people only take fish, a couple of people could clear this pond of bass on a good day.**
Amazing!!! Great bike trails!!!After looking for a decent bike trail in a Arlington and east fort worth i came upon this little Gem and i must say with the constant improvements and the great maintenance the city dedicates to this park i can see why there are so many people there and why just entering it fills me with a glee that is only surpassed once i have completed my bike rides and my body is flooded with endorphins and filled with a sense of accomplishment and awe from the beautiful bike trails and the scenery once you have passed over all the bridges on the trails and have read all the little signs that give you little fast facts which is always enjoyable!Plus always have you have a good chance of seeing a little bobcat which is very exciting!!!
It offers the hiker or biker an invigorating walk in quite nature.Once in the deep, park trails or even at the playgrounds the city noise does not interfere. It is an excellent place to something as peaceful as Tia chi. There is something for all ages of children to play.
Great park, ive done the 7 mile bike trail more than a few times 14 miles total. From 360 it looks like they might have extended the trails a bit?Lots of playgrounds for children young and old. I always see huge parties barbecuing. There are lots of wildlife around the trails turtles, snakes, birds, bobcats. Ive never seen a bobcat here in the many years ive been here though.Great place for taking your dogs for a good run or vice versa, dog takes you for a run!People watching is cool too!
Great place to bike ride with a two mile and a fifteen mile ride. In and out of wooded area and along a small lake. Here is my new bike that I was out on a first ride with a friend. It is a Trek hybrid bike. Im at the age where my legs are tired after a brisk hour ride and it is hard to get my leg over the bar. This is a unisex bike and as you can see there is no bar. After my first ride I saw my bike needed some adjustments. Trek makes adjustments the first thirty days and offers one full tune up within the first year.
River Legacy Parks has a long and amazing history for those who take the time to read the Texas historical marker and study up on some of the history online and in FACT there apparently was a murder there in the late seventies for by a homeless man and in addition to THAT, are supposedly paranormal activity INCLUDING a place called HELLS gate...But besides all that for you nature lovers it has 2 entrances and a HUGE amount of square acres, probably a couple of square miles Im guessing, and anything AND everything you could want to see is there in fact...If you havent been yet its hard for the kids is great for working out is great for couples to sit in a car chat look at scenery and has many a thing for every type of person and everything you one cluding the science center that they have as well!!!!!DONT MISS THIS !!!
Went there to bird. This is actually the Ft Worth Drying Beds with multiple ponds that make for a winter home for waterfowl. Many spring migrant birds pass through here to rest and refuel before heading father north. If you dont birdwatch you might see beavers, skunks, raccoons, snakes, coyotes making for a great walk!Free parking at the end of the entrance lane.
Great trails for a walk along the river. Can be a bit muddy and for a while this year part of the pathway was washed out because of all the rain. Lots of bicyclists tooling around, they dont all follow the rule of announcing their approach so be aware, especially if you have headphones on. I personally prefer NOT to wear my earphones so I can instead listen to the nature sounds and birds singing. Its a very tranquil place.
Nice place to spend time at and relax. Park is kept clean and lawns, bushes, and trees are well manicured. Lots of public trails. Also trails off the beaten path where its hard to see someone ahead of you and hard for others to see you. Must people are friendly and like to say hi.
My daughters class had their school field trip here... It was very informative and interesting to learn about the things I didnt know first hand about nature. Our tour guides were all kid friendly and professional and they were very organized and well put together. They deserve a 10 for working EXCELLENT together as a team to ensure our expectations were met. Way to go TEAM the kids and us parents and teachers all had a blast!
Love this park, plenty of parking, clean restrooms, lots of walking trails and bike trails. theres always a few ice cream trucks passing by! Today I saw a rabbit near the walkway and a tiny frog/toad! Last time we went we saw a coyote and a copperhead snake very close to our feet. Really scary but beautiful snake! Oh and its a great place for pokemon go fans!
Great outdoor activities. But for me the best part is the Mt bike trail that continue growing. So far about 10 - 11 miles in it. The trail is perfect for beginner because it has a smooth continues trail. If your a expert rider they have a Route called EKG thats perfect for more expert rider.
Wow, this park is amazing! There were several awesome park areas in here, lots of trails for walking and bikes. The nature center was really cool too. Tons of wide open spaces for throwing a frizby or flying a kite.Cant wait to bring our daughter here. Shell love it.
Beautiful park with paved trails, restrooms, playground, picnic areas, and lots of green space. Unfortunately, the paved trail between the main park and Legacy Park East is closed, with a dirt trail substituted instead. To go from one to the other on pavement you must exit the main entrance and reconnect through an entrance in a nearby residential area.
We love this park! Its not as handicap accessible as other parks weve been to, but there are alot of options for children of all ages. There is a spot with alot of will kept grills should that be to your liking, and a large public restroom. All in all excellent choice! There are also bike and walking trails if thats your thing. The Nature Center is great, and the interactive site is affordable and excellent for younger children.
Very Beautiful here drove down to book signing park very clean with class and style very large lots of space with family picnic areas with lots of seating and tables nice big bathrooms for ladies and gentlemen you do have to clean up behind yourself you cant leave it dirty throw trash on the grounds ice cream truck for children and adults come through lot play activities for the kids great cook place lots of great choice to choose from I really enjoy the Book 📖 signing got two great books that and made me cry and laugh.📚 books by :Thersa Tarpleysuch heart felt storiesThis not a promotion for her books Im just sharing that this is a nice place for professional events such as hers if your looking for great place to have charity events annual event family gathering not worried about riff wrath this is your go to place its very clean zero tolerance nice suburban areas
I only visit here for the mountain bike trail but that is reason enough to come. DORBA does a great job maintaining the trail and posting closures in thier website. The trail itself is pretty mellow except for one clearly marked section and the park area. I normally ride with my kids and we stick to the easier sections. Even those sections have a few features to try out and it is really building thier confidence
Other than some occasional flooding along the trails and watershed degradation of the trail surface from the encroaching river, this place is one of the best parks to ride bikes and walk in DFW. Ive been on the trail at least 150 times and cant wait to go back again.
This park is fantastic for many reasons they have main trials that run all around the huge park with markers to let you know how far youve run and the pathways are color coded for so you know which path youre on. The park it self is huge you can run for Miles and not run into anybody great if you need to get away from everything.
I looove bringing my toddler here to just roam amongst the trees and large rocks. The Trails and facilities are soo well maintained and our family always feel refreshed when we come out and truly breathe in fresh clean air while taking in the beautifully maintained and kept parks and trails.
Gorgeous place to relax in the city. Walked around the park in the evening. Saw lots of wildlife, raccoons, rabbits, an opposum, and even a small pack of coyotes! Have ridden my bike here several times, and thoroughly enjoyed the paths and trails throughout the park!
Love it! What a beautiful experience this park is. It was my first time as I was doing the Susan Komen virtual walk! I would definitely go back to exercise or have lunch and a beautiful walk. The park was extremely clean, inviting and I felt very safe alone or in a group. Lots of beautiful wildlife to see. You can exercise, play sports or even barbecue. I would highly recommend this park and hopefully it will be respected and remain clean and beautiful.
Great park! It’s always well maintained and the trails are great. The park, in my experience, has always felt very safe. I have cycled the concrete trail at night and never once felt in danger. The DORBA trail is also a great trail ride. The facilities and group areas are nice.
This is a fantastic park to go running, biking, or walking. There is a long trail perfect for any distance running among nature. There are even markers along the trail for 911 to easily locate a person in the case of an emergency. A creek runs through the trail, so there are bridges as well. Beautiful gem inside Arlington!
This was a cute interactive place for our children. It is free for the trails and the small part as you walk in but the travel interactive exhibit costs a few dollars. It is worth it. My kids ages 8,7, and 3 enjoyed it. The view to the water is beautiful and worth through the walk through alone. Hours of fun and even better that the attractions are changed out every few months.
Live this area! Wonderful family friendly area, lots of variety from nature walks , bike paths, open fields to cuddle up on a blanket while reading or just taking a nap , the open fields are plush with soft well-maintained Augusta grass! There are a couple large play grounds for little ones , large fields to play soccer, last time we even saw a group playing softball and there was ample room for social distancing and still enjoying ourselves! the kids and I played volleyball, people walk their dogs , throw Frisbee and I believe there a nature section as well. Wondefuk atmosphere especially during Autumn.
Perfect trails and park for short and long walks, hijes or bike riding. Nice views of the lake or river With some vists you are sure to see armadillos, snakes, bobcats, red birds and more.. Cements paths are cleaned and are kept cleaned..just need visitors to understand that ONE bottle trashed here by ONE person can multiply and ruin the park..
Beautiful park, with beautiful views! This park is along what River Legacy identifies as 7.5 miles of trails. The actual park itself is around mile marker 2-3. There is unfortunately quite a bit of needed repairs being made on the trails, but it’s taken them over a year. The trails are not the safest in these areas so use caution when walking/running/riding.

2022-02-04Great park for everything from family outings to distance runs to mountain biking. Paved trail loop for walkers and runners - accessible and stroller friendly. Nice bathroom and cool playground area. And then 13+ miles of dirt trail for mountain biking and more serious hiking. Enjoyed an hour-long ride and a picnic there. Will be back again soon!

2021-04-19Beautiful trails, extra wide sidewalks, and huge fields makes this park extra special. Whether youre a running, hiking, or riding there is more than enough room for everyone. I read there is around 10 miles of trails but seems like more. The only thing that took away from another otherwise amazing day was getting bit on the ankle by a passing dog. That kind of sucked.

2021-09-06River legacy park is a fun park to go ride a bike. Wide concrete pathways for walkers, runners, bicycling 🚲. It has offroad trails for mountain bikes and for hiking. Which ever one you choose to do they both have beautiful scenery. People from all around the DFW have herd of this park. Saying its one of the best bike trails around here. Im just glad I dont live to far from it.

2022-01-30Ok so I love this Park. The Trinity River has carved its way through this Park to give it some awesome scenery. The trails are great for the most part. Which this also brings me to why Im only giving two stars. The pathways have become extremely dangerous. Some of them are starting to or have already crumbled into the river. Erosion had gotten the best of the pathways. They have then fenced off but people can easily get around then and they still use the parts of damaged pathways. These arent small drop offs. Most spots are at least a 40 foot fall at the smallest. Someone is going to get hurt of they havent already. If its when this issue is fixed Ill give five stars.
