They installed a mini split for my home 6 months ago and now problems galore. They came to do routine summer inspection of my home AC and magically my thermostat is fried. I come home to AC running on cool but thermostat has the house at 81 degrees. This was the first problem i have with them. Their technicians are liars and have no respect for the elderly. Timeframe provided for service was 10-12 and arrived at 1:30Pm for a second problem. They were pulling out of my driveway when my wife was turning in. Refused to acknowledge her and drove off. They said no one was home.... Regional manager replaced more than once. Has a lot to say about this company that continues to disappoint. Will not do business again with them. They were contracted by Lowes and they will be hearing from me as to the type of company they recommend to carry their name and quality of work.
Eric V. Is amazing, he was able to diagnose my issue and repair my system extremely fast, he is knowledgeable and kind, extremely professional. I will continue to use Shafer for any A/C needs. They were able to schedule me fast, in this heat, that is very much needed.
UPDATE: Refund has been received. I am very pleased.UPDATE: I just received a call from the President of the company and was told that I will receive a full refund! I wanted to pay the $60 fee at least but she said no, they will make it right and that happy customer is their priority. Amazing! Once refund comes in, I will adjust the star rating.BEWARE of the very misleading coupons on the coupon page. I expected a charge of $60 (didnt read the DISCLOSE/fine print). The plumber was great/nice and confirmed what I already knew. That confirmation cost me $570.50. The problem (underground leak between main and house somewhere...probably under sidewalk/slab) still exists. Lol. Im mostly angry at myself. Like all of us, I didnt have any fight left in me during service call and agreed to the estimate to FIND the leak (the estimate was between $570 and.. I forget... ~ approx $1580). Lastly, the receipt I received via email has previous owner (or some random lady) listed. Im usually smarter than this. I think its the heat. : )
Very troubling blockage of washing machine drain from years of never having it cleared. Was lucky enough to draw Andy, a customer oriented caring Technician. He explained to me the necessary actions to clear with necessary looseners (Chemicals and performed a hot water flush). I had been worried about this for weeks. Mission accomplished. I slept well last night thanks Andy !
Had a technician out on the 21st to figure out why my AC system wasn’t working. He did find the problem and replaced it before ever talking to me about the cost. How do decide to make a repair before talking with the homeowner??? I later found out I was charged a lot more than it typically runs for the the capacitor to be replaced. He also advised me my TXV needs to be replaced and I was quoted a little over $1,700. A quick search online today after talking with someone else who is familiar with this repair and found out that the average price is $350-$450 for that replacement. Seriously??? Why almost triple the amount? I will never go through this company and will make sure none of my friends, families or clients get taken advantage of by them.Oh and I was supposed to get an email confirmation/receipt of everything and never did.
One of their drivers almost hit me going 65+mph on 410, barely squeezing in between me and the car in front of him. Ive emailed the company to see to it that their drivers are more responsible on the roads along with a picture of the license plate of the truck and havent heard anything back. I work in the plumbing/HVAC industry and will not be recommending their services to any of my clients.
I had my A/c checked by their tech, for a/c not cooling the upstairs, they checked it but could not find the actual issue, and said a/c is working fine, but under capacity for the size of the house.They almost convinced me that i need to replace the A/c. Then I had it checked by another company, they correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it.the issue was with damper, after replacing it the house is cooling fine.
This office is very disorganized! Never given an update when part would be replaced and today they returned and didn’t have a clue that someone had been to my house prior and was there to put in the part ordered! They love to text but I don’t think anyone reads your reply! I hope the air conditioner is working but don’t think I will ever call them again.
We have been using Shafer HVAC since our first construction. Our Assisted Living had a leak today from the attic, we called, the Technicians showed up within an hour. They diagnosed, explain the problem, fixed the problem in no time. The technicians are Chuck and Nick, thank you both for their kind hearts.
They were very awesome and professional..my boy is special needs and was getting in the way from tym 2 tym he was being curious..and they understood and werent bothered by him as some others would have been..my boy has air conditioning now. And I wanna say thank you so much robert. U did fantastic
I had a great experience beginning to end with everyone I dealt with. From the people who answered the phone to the multiple technicians that came out to check my AC unit. They gave me multiple options and explained everything thoroughly. They never rushed their work or explanations. I will personally be using this company for any AC/plumbing needs moving forward. I would highly recommend Shafer to anyone who needs AC or plumbing services. It is obvious that they pride themselves in excellent customer service. I worked with AB, Fabian, and Augie who all were awesome!
John was great! He had been out in November on an emergency call (did a great job) so we were happy to see him dispatched to us. He was on time, polite, took the time to explain everything to us and then did a thorough job with the project. We will definitely be calling Shafer Services Plus again when a plumbing need comes up.
Darius McKinnis was my service technician. I was immediately impressed with his knowledge and ability to quickly identify the problem and present me with some workable solutions. Im not very easily impressed, but the manner in which Darius and his team worked demonstrates a professionalism rarely seen anymore. Great job!
Was told they couldn’t help me because I own an apartment building and we would ‘need a contract or something like that’ to work on an individual ac unit for an individual apartment. Even though their website clearly states that they service ‘multi family residential properties.’ The receptionist called 3 different extensions and then told me to go somewhere else because no one could tell her how to do her job. Laughable.
At about 4:15 pm on 2/4/22 we discovered a leak on the side of the house. A section of PVC pipe had burst. The pipe was used for filling the pool. It had its own valve and connected to the copper feed from the street. I cut off the water at the street and then started calling plumbers.Schaffer, which I called about 4:45 pm, was the only one of three companies we called that could make it out the same day. (Everyone was very busy because of freezing weather). They said they’d be here between 5pm and 7pm. They were here around 5:45pm. They capped the copper that fed the PVC and we were done. They also did a number of other checks.The phone attendant was really courteous, and took the time to find an available plumber, after I explained that it was probably a 20-minute job at best (which it was). The plumber, John, was professional, courteous, and explained everything to us perfectly clearly regarding what we needed to do next, etc. I couldn’t have been happier with the response and the service, especially with the prospect of going without water for anywhere from 2 to 5 days again (After the Feb 21 snow event/loss of water). The invoice we received in email was detailed, and included a number of high quality photos of the repair site.After a really, really bad experience with another A/C and plumbing company last year, Schaffer was a refreshing change.
I took advantage of a $50 Shafer inspection special and am so glad I did. The price was fabulous and Bruce, the technician, was professional, courteous, clean and friendly. He spent a good amount of time on each unit and then gave me feedback. He also answered all my questions. I was most impressed by the professionalism of the entire Shafer crew, from appointment through to payment, and I’ll definitely use them again.
Augie along with Andy, Brandon & Pedro did an excellent job for our family. They arrived on time and finished the installation of new indoor & outdoor units ahead of schedule, while still being very thorough. They were all very courteous & respectful of our home and our familys allergy issues etc. They cleaned up after they were done & took extra time to answer any questions. I called Shafer to replace my AC Unit. They immediately offered to send someone to check it out free of charge. They were professional, clean, organized, knowledgeable and more. They were also able to keep the noise down to a minimum being there is a newborn in my house at the moment :-). Andy and his Assistant worked great together. They were steadily working non stop to replace my AC in an efficient and safe manner. I strongly recommend them for your AC needs. They also use TRANE Brand Units which are great to my knowledge. Shafer has great pricing as well compared to other companies here in the San Antonio Area. If you’re reading reviews to make a decision on who you need to use, this one is it! Don’t hesitate to give them a call! They’ll do a great job.
This was our first service experience with Shafer Plumbing/HVAC. We had issues with a 16+ yo water heater, that in practicality needed replacement. From the point of appointment through completion of replacement, we experienced utmost professionalism and excellent, timely communications throughout the entire service process. Our technician, Ismael, supported by Jesus, was exemplary in his knowledge of work, problem-solving, professionalism, and timely service updates. We completed our transaction by enrolling in the Shafer Pro Plus Advantage Plan. We highly recommend Shafer Services as a service provider and would certainly call them again for future plumbing or HVAC service needs!
I’ve had Shafer Services out a few times now. As everyone can imagine, having to call the plumber is not exactly fun. However, at least now I have the piece of mind that I know who to call right away and I know I will be well taken care of. I’ve had nothing but excellent experiences with John B, Danny R, and calls to the office. From smaller things like a clogged sewer line to bigger things like a new water heater installation, they have done a great job. When you need a good, quality plumber, I highly recommend giving Shafer a call.
We did not have money to replace or finance a new AC so I was nervous to call anyone. We were seriously on the verge of doing a window unit for the summer. Called Shafer and they had our current AC up and working same day for a very reasonable and fair price. I highly recommend this company! When we do need a new AC on the future or our next repair I will absolutely call them again. Very good experience.
Two days ago I sent a negative review. The next morning I got a phone call from the company ; they wanted to know what prompted me to write such a negative review. After explaining why I had done that the person that called offered to do whatever I needed to make me change the bad impression I had of their company. I was very impressed with his call. They sent someone else again to my house with out a charge and tried their best to find what was going wrong. Contrary to a few days ago I know think that Shafer is an amazing company who really cares about its clients. I have never experienced such a great response from any company. I would now give them a 5 star rating.
Unfortunately, I’m having to revise this review to reflect challenges and delays experienced once the initial work completed. Schafer was incredibly responsive to schedule and complete the initial work. The technicians in the field are highly professional and courteous. The initial work, including scheduling only took about 2-3 days. Very good.Unfortunately, it took another 16 days and 2-4 phone calls per day to actually complete the work. After waiting a week for city inspection I finally called Schafer to check the status and the inspection had not been scheduled. Once it was scheduled the work failed inspection twice. The failures weren’t the upsetting part though. It was the lack of follow up and delays that became so frustrating. If I didn’t initiate the contact to them, it would take a full day or longer for them to return a call. Because of that, the work that was already finished, and only needed inspection, took over 2 full weeks. So frustrating especially given the amount paid for the service. The value was nowhere close to the cost. It doesn’t appear this is a common experience considering their online reviews; and as stated before, the technicians were highly professional and courteous, but unfortunately it was my experience with Schafer Services.
We had busted frozen pipe since Monday. We called a different place but finally gave up on them and called Shafer on Friday morning. We had used Shafer previously for our hot water heater installation. Left a message with the receptionist at 8:30am Friday. Got a call back at 11:20am saying they were in the area and since the person they were trying to contact never responded, they could swing by my house. John B. stopped by and fixed the pipe that our insurance adjusted pointed out. John B. investigated more thoroughly and found a second pipe that the insurance adjusted missed. He fixed everything within a few hours and we finally have water again! So happy for the quick service and thoroughness of John B. He was polite, professional and we are grateful he spotted the second pipe that was previously missed. We definitely make sure to always call Shafer first for all our plumbing needs.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND: I called over the weekend and got a call back within minutes and a plumber over to the house that day and a new water heater installed and operational the next day. The dispatcher (Robert) and the plumber (Frank) were extremely nice and easy to work with. The pricing was reasonable and even more so when you take into account their service and great attitude. I would recommend Shafer to anyone.
Thank You Shafer Services for the 5-star service. Everything from start to finish was smooth. All of the team members I dealt with were polite and professional. Everyone worked hard and got the job done quickly. Their estimated time of completion was spot on. The pricing and service were absolutely fair and reasonable. The crew was clean, respectful and prompt. I would absolutely recommend 5 out of 5 times to anyone I know!
Our plumber from Shafer did a great job. He arrived on time and was pleasant. He identified the problem immediately and replaced the worn out parts in the kitchen sink drain. I also appreciated that he was wearing shoe covers so dirt wouldnt be tracked around the house. And yes, he was also wearing a COVID mask. The entire call took less than 30 minutes and I was very pleased and would recommend them.
John was very helpful and professional. He pointed out to other issues that may cause future problems in our kitchen sink and, after approval, proceeded to fix them on the spot. Shafer has been taken care of my home’s plumbing needs for a little bit over a year and we’re very satisfied with the experience. Worth every penny :)
I had my semi-annual service done for my HVAC System by Shafer Service Plus- Tech this week. He was prompt so professional and respectful. He recommended a minor part replacement. I asked him about a total system replacement. He called and an amazing salesman came out to my house and went over all the options for me. There was no pressure and he was very professional and well informed. I purchased a system and today on Friday they completed the install. I wish I could remember the first two individuals names, but it escapes me at this moment. The crew today that came to install my new system were John Noriega (seemed like the supervisor), Eric Willett, and Chris White. I tell you, from the moment that I meet John at the door my and his team the encounter was awesome with Shafer Services Plus. They were friendly while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. John started the morning by reviewing the entire install process and how they were going to take care of the house (from wearing shoe covers to putting down tarp) and answering each of my questions with respect and courteousness. Every step in the installation of the furnace and A/C, was “prefect”, and I don’t use that term lightly or often. They started on time and completed the job almost to the minute the salesman the previous day had said they would (I wish I could remember his name). I would strongly recommend the Shafter Services Plus for all your HVAC needs company.In summary, this was the best service I have ever experienced. I have had a lot work done at my house over the years. I love for my house to look beautiful inside and outside. The technicians were so courteous. They were experts at what they do and it showed. John did such a great job managing his team and checking work while being so respectful of them (that is why I think he was the supervisor). I am still amazed at how quick and smooth the entire operation went. The price they quoted me is actually what price John asked for at the end of the installation. There were no surprise charges. When I look at the completed work I feel extremely happy and satisfied that John’s team (named above) did such a great job with their skills and manner in which they interacted with me and my house. It was great to know you dealt with professionals from Shafter; from the routine service Tech, sales reps to the installers. When they finished the installation everything was clean and in place. John was friendly and clear and obviously very experienced. He reviewed the plumbing inspection report that we received from the buyers and thoroughly addressed each issue, providing clear documentation for us to submit before closing. He walked us through pictures of the different issues he found, and clearly explained our options. I would highly recommend!
Frank Rodriguez came out to give an estimate for the installation of a garbage disposal as well as to check the noise the pipes were making. He was cordial and professional and brought some other important issues to my attention that I was unaware of and received a quote for those as well!!
We had emergent service when our AC stopped working (of course in the summer heat!). It was an old system. A staff member came out immediately. He was very professional and explained the problem thoroughly. He gave us options. Our heating and cooling system was replaced the next day on a holiday weekend... They jumped through hoops to ensure we had AC as we had a high school graduation party planned on Memorial Day. Augie, Chris, and Joaquin were very respectful, professional, personable, and expertised. They answered any questions we had! Five Star Quality and Service! I highly recommend them!!
I will never use this company again after today.Called on a Friday and the earliest they could see us was the following Tuesday. Understandable. Tuesday of repairs, we are told they have emergencies they have to handle and push us to Thursday. Not crazy about that but not much we can do.They showed up today to replace the toilet fill valve and associated pieces. Recommendation was to rebuild the entire inside of the tank. $645. SIX HUNDRED FORTY FIVE. I can buy a high quality brand new toilet for less than $250. Im lucky I was on the phone with my grandparents because they didnt know any better. I called the manager who told me his pricing is competitive. If I asked them to replace the toilet entirely, $645 would still be outrageous, let alone replacing some plastic parts inside the tank.I dont know if this company just has so much business they can afford to take people to the woodshed like this, but this is borderline predatory. Ive used this company several times for plumbing and HVAC, and they were top quality. Now Ill be letting every single person who asks for recommendation know to avoid this company like the plague.
Alfredo Vallejo went above and beyond what I was expecting during my service call today. He was thorough in explaining what was causing the leak, and provided us with several options. We were very happy with the service provided and look forward to doing business with Shafer again.
Franc with Shafer Services was timely and arrived immediately when expected. Likewise, he and his colleague observed excellent safety protocols with masks and other protective gear. Furthermore, Franc did an excellent job diagnosing, finding, and repairing the leak in our wall. We were very impressed with his level of service and courtesy. Highly recommend Franc!
After deciding that it was time to replace the 17 year old air conditioning/heating system in our home, I went to the BBB website and picked out six companies (based on their ratings, customer reviews, and customer complaints). I prepared a detailed request for quote and sent it to each of these six companies. The first to respond was Shafer Services Plus. They were also the first to send someone to our home. Two of the companies did not respond. One company responded late, after I had already decided to hire Shafer Services. Two other companies sent people out and gave me quotes. The gentleman Shafer Services sent out (Mike D.) was very knowledgeable, and, honestly was head and shoulders above the other two gentlemen that came out from the other companies. The others were nice, and professional, but it was obvious to my wife and I they did not have the combination of experience and eye for detail that Mike from Shafer Services did. After considering three quotes, we decided on Shafer Services. It was an easy decision...their price was very competitive, and they were the only company that addressed each and every one of my concerns. The crew that Shafer Services sent out was outstanding....courteous, hardworking, and obviously experienced craftsmen....thank you John N. and Andy, for your hard work and attention to detail. Today a supervisor came out to do the final inspection...Thank you Steve. I am glad I chose Shafer to do this work and I am very satisfied with the job they did. I will recommend these folks to my family and friends without hesitation or reservation! Great job Shafer Services!
19 Dec 19 update: Ralph installed a UV light and whole house filter we ordered. Great job. He was professional and personable. Equipment installation was top notch!15 July 19 update: Ryan was our technician today for an annual maintenance check. He discovered an issue with the refrigerant dryer/filter. Left unchecked this could cause expensive issues over time. Very thorough and professional. Additionally, the dryer/filter will be replaced later today. Great customer service!I called Shafer services and they diagnosed the compressor as the issue with my AC system. The AC technicians were professional and Im satisfied with the quality of the work completed. Update: 4 June 2018: Jason with Shafer Services was our AC tech today and did an OUTSTANDING job. His knowledge and detailed explanation of our systems condition was noteworthy. Upgraded to 5 stars!! Keep up the great customer service!!
John with Shafer was very professional! But it all started with my initial phone call looking for service at 4am! Robert with Shafer immediately returned my call and set me all up to get my water heater diagnosed and repaired all in the same day! John even went above and beyond with my repair that he didn’t even have to do by putting supports under my water heater. I am very happy I found them and signed me up as a member for both ac/plumbing! I highly refer this company!
This is my second positive experience with Shafer Services so I decided to write a review. Today Shafer Services cleared the washing machine drain line. The service was great and reasonably priced. John B and JP were both professional, wore masks and foot coverings, explained everything and didn’t try to up sell me which is rare these days. They used video camera to show me the problem (before and after) so I am confident the problem is solved. I decided to join the Shafer annual plan that covers HVAC and plumbing because the plan paid for itself with this one visit. I have tried other service companies in San Antonio and Shafer Services is the best I have used.
Fabian was courteous and knowledgeable. He explained the details and answered my questions. I initially chose Shafer to give me a quote based on Google ratings and they did not disappoint. I accepted their great offer (which beat out the other 2 companies I had in) and will have the unit installed tomorrow. So far, Fabian and Shafer are excellent.EDIT: The following day, technician John Noriega arrived on time and installed my system in an expert fashion. He and his partner were courteous, professional and finished quickly, cleaning up after themselves and leaving my home cool and comfortable.EDIT: After contractors damaged a component of my brand new, week old Trane system, JW came amazingly fast and fixed the issue in 15 minutes, getting our system back to cooling our home. He was friendly and courteous and made the repair quickly. I cannot express how happy I am with the service Shafer has thus far provided. Just far and away better than any other service company Ive ever had at my home. Thanks Shafer!
I had several plumbing issues that needed repair. David, the technician who came to my home, was very polite and conscientious. He listened carefully as I explained the work that I needed, made his own assessment and supplied me with and estimate immediately. He was very professional and efficient. The repairs took much less time than I had expected. I would recommend this company to my friends and family.
This is my fourth time using Shafer Services. Each time, I have been impressed with the professional, courteous service. Their motto is to treat their customers like family and they truly do. Ive worked with JP Beron twice and will seek him out in the future for all plumbing needs. Hes a nice guy who attends to details with care.
The whole Shafer team did an excellent job; from Derrick presenting all of our options and helping us make a final decision on our A/C unit, to Augie and his helper Eric installing the system and instructing us in proper use to get the most savings...great job all around. This was the 6th AC company that we interviewed for our replacement and by far the most professional in every aspect. Would highly recommend Shafer Services.Added 4/30/20: We just had the plumbing team do a check of our water systems today. 5/25/21 - Once again Ismael has knocked it out the park on customer service. Ismael, John and Jesus were at my house last Thursday installing my new tankless water heater. I am beyond thrilled to not have a 40 gallon water heater in my attic anymore. It was only because Ismael took the time to actually measure and know that this job was possible, that I decided to go through with it. So glad I did. The guys ran into a bit of a problem but Ismael got on the phone right away to resolve the issue and even though they were having to work late, he was determined to get the job done, and done well. You don’t find work ethic like that anymore and I will be forever grateful! Many thanks to Ismael, John and Jesus.Today Ismael Partida and his helper with Shafer plumbing went above and beyond to help me with my water heater woes. They were punctual, very professional, detail oriented, and extremely knowledgeable. They spent a lot of time assessing my problem and reviewing all of my options with me. I was very pleased. I highly recommend Shafer for anyone needing a stand up company to do the work that needs to be done.Cant figure out how to post a second review so I am adding to this one. Today my heater was serviced by Raymond Gonzalez who did an excellent job. He was on time and extremely thorough. I am once again very pleased with the service I have received.
Today I had the pleasure of meeting John Betton with Shafer services. This was a plumbing issue that he handled in minutes flat. Found John to be very knowledgeable of the work needed, explained in detail work to be done, possible outcomes. He came prepared and was gone and quick as he came. I would recommend John to anyone needing plumbing services.
Extremely professional and informative. Showed up on time , explained the service and plan to fix our plumbing issue. After the problem was fixed, walked us through the issue and how they were able to fix it. Franc was extremely knowledgeable and was straight forward. We will definitely be using Shafer for all our AC and plumbing needs.

This time, the company replaced an HV AC unit. They did it an under 3 hours and the tenants described their work like a polished NASCAR pit crew.I have never had a bad experience with Shafer. Their employees take the time to explain the problem and the options for repair.
My service tech Ismael was one of the most friendly, and professional repairman Ive used since moving to San Antonio 15 years ago. He had the problem diagnosed within 5 minutes after arriving. Having an uncommon problem the parts could not be obtained though normal channels. Ismael, and the crew at Shafer explored every avenue available to obtain the part. After an exhaustive search they found the part and worked late to install it restoring water to my house. Without Ismaels hard work I could have been without water for over a day or even days.
Impressed with their customer safety concerns. I received a call before arrival to make sure I was not ill and was told that the services guys would have masks, gloves, and shoe covers on and they were also cleared with safety questions themselves. We have used Shafer for many years because of the quality of service and will continue to use them because of the care and safety of the customer...me.
Derek Ramirez was the sales associate that came to my house to look at my HVAC system and give me a quote to replace the system. He was able to look at the system I had installed and understand the setup. We talked for a good long while about my options for the replacement system. I was wanting to replace my old 16 SEER system with an equivalent efficient system. The problem was that there were now 16 SEER systems in the state of Texas and Trans was getting ready to have a price increase shortly. What he was able to do was get his Trane distributor to do was give me an 18 SEER system for the price of the 16 SEER unit. That was something that he did not have to do, but he went above and beyond to get me the best deal he could. There were 2 technicians that showed up to do the the install, Augie and Andy. The were both professional and very knowledgeable in the work that they did. I contracted Shafer Services to replace my old HVAC heatpump system, both the outside and inside units, replaced with a new Trane system. My old system had a 2 zone setup that allowed upstairs and downstairs to be cooled or heated separately and I wanted to keep that feature on the new system. Augie was the subject matter expert for the zoning option and did a very good job in ensuring that the new zoning system worked as it should. I also had them install a UV light into the system to combat any mold or virus that come through the system. The new Trane system I had installed is the XV18 which required new Trane thermostats to be installed and configured. Both Augie and Andy again were very knowledgeable in how to configure and get everything communicating. They did a very thorough job in showing me how to work everything. I have been very pleased with the service I have received from Shafer Services Plus and their personal that they have working for them. I will be a repeat customer and whole heartedly recommend them for any of your HVAC needs. Also, they were about $6k cheaper than another Trane competitors of theirs for the same system. If you want a quality system at a good price, Shafer Services Plus is the company for you.
Received a call early Monday morning from Shafer Services advised me they had a technician available to come out this morning. Technician arrived and I told him what problem I was having. He was very friendly and professional. Advised me what he was going to do and the cost, which was very reasonable. My line was unclogged within about 15 minutes. Ryan ran the washer and ran water into the kitchen sinks four times and no water backed up into the sink and no water over flow from the washer drain. Ryan also was very informative on how I could maintain a clear drain. Ryan also informed me that their company offers a yearly maintenance program which we are interested in purchasing. We had a major duct replacement by Shafer Services performed which became an even bigger project since we opted to also have the attic insulation removed and replaced. We knew for some time that our 30 year old duct system was in bad shape but the scope of the project and costs delayed our decision to move ahead with our decision to replace. We obtained numerous estimates over the last 2 years and we decided to have Shafer Services perform the work. Why? Very simple, this company has been the most professional, the most detailed, and knowledgeable of all. I was concerned about the costs and they offered a payment plan. I was worried about the dust and debris generated and I encountered a very understanding team who protected my home and generated very little dust. I had concerns of my schedule and they totally accommodated and adapted to my needs. Their level of accuracy to provide a comfortable home environment beginning with the measurements of the square footage of my home, taking particle samples before and after the installation is complete to optimize airflow and equalize air distribution to every part of my home. To top it off, the courtesy I experienced of every member of the team was above one would expect. I am especially impressed with the allergy system we opted to have installed as I am an allergy sufferer and needed something to help me ease my symptoms. My team consisted of Robert, Steve, Augie, Greg, Adan, and Sandra! I do want to express my sincere appreciation to Augie as he is a very thorough installer whose dedication to perfection makes him a true asset to the Shafer company and most definitely the customer! Money well invested!
So I call this company due to a hot water heater element that blown on the bottom and of course they sent a tech to my property that I assumed knew how to do the job. Meanwhile after 40mins on the job the tech call me and mentioned he couldn’t do job alone and needed assistance. Fine call your help was my response just get the job done. When other tech came they finally came up with a solution and said they had to drain tank alone with a mess all over my walls leaving what ever came out all over my walls and damaged. Also in the process of draining tank I reach out to my tenants and they told me the techs had left the job to get equipment for next job which puzzled me of professionalism. I call tech and he mention everything but him leaving as if they never left the job. Meanwhile almost three hours later the tech call me back and tells me I need to either call another company or call my dispatch and sent another tech cause he couldn’t do the job. At this point I was so embarrassed by my tenants and called in to dispatch that I still have yet received a response back from to inform the negligence. I called Anchor Plumbing and the job was done less than a hour. With the world going the way it is may god bless this Organization and hope time is taken out for thorough training. I give it .5 of star for the attempt and the other half for picking up phone.
We experienced a plumbing problem on a Saturday, and contacted Shafer Services without any prior knowledge of the company. Our request was handled promptly, and a plumber, Jay Peche, dispatched to our home. Jay immediately worked the problem and let us know that he would provide an interim solution, obtain a needed part and return in a day or two. This occurred as promised, and the repair accomplished. Jay was a pleasure to work with, able to explain all we needed to know, and was extremely professional. We will continue to contact Shafer Services for our future needs. I called Steves Plumbing who had an awesone technician named Frank Ruhr. They are now Shafer Services. It took 3 calls and conversations to get someone to come out to look at our job. When they finally set the appointment I was relieved. The promised time was between 8 and 10am. At 9am of the sheduled day, I received a call, and was told that the days briefing just ended and the time was now moved to a time of up to 11am. At almost 3pm Im calling to find out where my plumber is. The next day Im calling to find out about my estimate. I canceled the request when I was going to get transfered for the 3rd time to someone who was supposed to have an answer.
Shafer Services must employ the most professional, courteous people Ive worked with for any kind of service. Everyone, from the people who scheduled my various appointments, to the technicians, installers, and designer, was truly concerned that I have the best service possible, at a reasonable price, and that my home was treated with respect. Weve had plumbing, heating, and air conditioning service with Shafer, and I have had a great experience every time. We recently had a new A/C system designed by Booth and installed by Thomas, Darnell, and Greg. The various options were very well explained, and the whole installation process went smoothly. Its so hard to find people you trust with something as important as your home, and I really cant recommend them enough.

Water pressure regulator was leaked. The technician came the next day, which I was a little disappointed but I understood they already tried adding us to the schedule. The price and how to fix was clearly clarified. After these two fixing experience, I start to trust this company. Therefore I decide to hire them for my HVac maintenance.Technician is excellent. Patient to explain and teach me how to use the softener. The reception desk is really good, too. Only complaint is about the product. The softener works, but the screen doesn’t display information properly, which made me a little nervous. In the end, what made me really happy is that they didn’t try to hide or ignore it. They honestly told me the problem and replaced the chipboard the next day. I prefer honest and quality service to a discount (personal opinion).
Augie and his team arrived ~30 min early (which I loved) and were finished In the estimated time allotted. They did an excellent job removing the old AC and installing a new system.August in Texas: extremely warm temperatures, heat index in low 100s. Due to their efficiency (& my well insulated house) I never really experienced any uncomfortableness while they swapped out systems. They helped with programming my new thermostat, explaining how the systems worked, and we’re very accommodating overall.Both had a great demeanor, would hire them again for any future AC/heating needs!

I’m very appreciative that Raymond Gonzalez with Shafer was able to get my furnace up and running just days before the big winter storm. He quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem-a malfunctioning circuit board on a 25 year old old furnace. He didn’t have the part stocked on his truck but he was able to find the part, pick it up from the warehouse and get it installed in my furnace before the end of the day. This was just days before the big winter storm. I don’t know what we would have down If that furnace wasn’t working. That was great dedication to his customer and I am grateful.
I absolutely trust Shafer! Ive used Shafer Services for more than a decade. New water pressure regulator, water heater heat element repair, new garbage disposal, water softener install, and new AC unit over the years. Always professional. Never pushy. They explain and show you why they are recommending a repair vs replacement, or vice versa. I will be a member of their protection plan and have them do any and all heating/air conditioning, and plumbing work as long as I live in an area they service.
Shafer has rescued us! Our AC broke and we called our home warranty company. They sent out some other guys and paid a bunch of money but the situation didn’t feel right. I have used Schaefer services to help me get my home ready to live in after renovations. My brother used Shafer Services before and when I bought the home from him and he referred me to them. They’ve been very helpful and Ryan came today to hook up the sink and disposal in our new kitchen. They were prompt flexible and timely and got the job done well. My water pressure regulator sprung a leak and was flooding down the street. I called Shafer Services and there was a truck in front of my house within 10 minutes. Ismael and his helper got right on it and completed the job within one hour and at a good price. I called to get additional details and pricing on an APCO-X system installation. They stated no pricing could be discussed over the phone, that an appointment is needed to go over my needs and to look at my HVAC system for an accurate quote. While confirming the appointment details it was quickly mentioned that a $60 dispatch fee would be charged... Thats a big NOPE from me!I get not wanting to waste time and money, but your company is the one refusing to go over pricing prior to sending some one out. I could easily answer any questions over the phone so that an accurate quote could be given yet you want to force an appointment to collect $60. You guys should have a knowledgeable sales rep who can answer questions, collect details, and provide quotes over the phone so it saves everyone time.Edit: Their response doesnt even address the real issue. I called 4 other businesses afterwards. One wouldnt give pricing either but scheduled a FREE no obligation appointment and the other three gave estimate over the phone (all of which were within $100 of each other which tells me the pricing is pretty standard). Either give estimates over the phone or drop the dispatch fee; dont charge people $60 to get an estimate.
Jay was on time and absolutely beyond awesome. Brought in his machine explained what he was going to do to clear my clogged drain. Excellent end to end experience. We had our 4-ton split die and Booth came in and spent hours getting everything sized up. Within 48 hours we had a new AC/Furnace installed. Steve, Augie and Chase were excellent installers. Walked us through everything. The installation was smooth and everything was cleaned up perfectly. Based on previous vendors, Shafer is top notch. I always say: you always get what you pay for. While Shafer may seem premium compared to some others - it is for a reason. I would not hesitate to get them again since I know it will be done 100% right. In fact we are going todo the second unit shortly with Shafer as well. Recommended!

Go figure...it gets cold in Texas for one night and the heater dies! Shafer to the rescue! One call and the tech was out within the hour! My unit needed more than just a quick fix so took longer than expected but they brought out the part to my house and fixed it. Now Im warm and cozy writing this review. HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting a warranty and service plan through Shafer!
Franc did a great job getting several issues solved in a short amount of time. It was great to not to have to wait while he ran to get supplies like some technicians will do. I deduct one star not for Francs service but the company Shafer. Be aware that they will change your appointment time without updating you (has happened to us on several occasions for several different service lines). When we called to check on our 0830 appointment with a plumber, the lady answering the phone was short with my wife and merely told her, the technician is still on his first job. When I later called for an update the gentleman that answered the phone informed me that we were a 1200-1400 appointment! Changed without warning to us. We had set up first appointments of the day with plumber and HVAC service lines as the house we were having serviced is empty and someone would have to wait around for the technicians. Shafer isnt the best value, but overall the most responsive and so we have stuck them out.
We just had our annual heating system check completed on December 10. Bruce, the Shafer Servces HVAC tech arrived as scheduled. He was professional, courteous, efficient, and friendly. John checked things out and determined that he needed to call in a specialist to handle my tankless water heater problem. I appreciated his honesty and the fact that he extended the service call so that the $60 service fee would not be due until the specialist comes to address the problem. So, while John was not able to fix my problem, he assessed it, and I am hopeful the specialist he is sending my way will be able to fix it.Ismael got my tankless water heater cleaned out and functioning properly, and he diagnosed the problem that is causing the water coming from my faucets to be cooler than the water coming out of the water heater (to be addressed by my regular plumber). He was thorough and professional, and I greatly appreciate the service he provided.
Rodney and Robert were first of all, on time, right at the time that Adam said they would arrive. Second, they were very professional, courteous and respectful. Before they entered my home they put on their shoe covers. Rodney and Robert are exceptional representatives of the Shafer Company. They are smart and they have great customer service skills. They listened closely when I spoke to them, they answered all my questions and explained those answers thoroughly. They were very knowledgeable of the HVAC systems and alway told me what they were doing or what they were about to do. They made me feel very aware of all options that were available to me for any repairs that might be needed. He documented everything relating to our problems with the system so that there would be a clear history of his visit for future reference. I was very comfortable with their demeanor and character. Their performance and conduct were excellent. Everyone that I have ever dealt with from Shaffer have all been amazing and Rodney and Robert were another example of great customer service!

Frank was amazing! He worked hard to diagnose the problem. When he found it he was able to use a good process to fix the problem. Other companies bid me thousands of dollars more, Frank was able to fix it in a timely and affordable manner. I can’t say enough about how great a job he and his team did! Would hire them every time I need somebody.
Franc went out of his way to explain every step of the repair process and gain my approval before adding any additional steps or charges. My plumbing leak was fixed quickly and after all the digging the area actually looked BETTER than it did before they started! Very satisfied.

Plumbing problem with outside water leak. John diagnosed it as a sprinkler line broken. He shutoff the water supply at the back flow. We said that we would dig it up to ascertain what needs to be done. He also installed a new cutoff valve in one of the toilets in the gym mens room. He stated that this toilet also had a bad flushometer because of the leaks around the piping. He suggested that we should replace the whole assembly and that we could do it ourselves or call Shafer Services to schedule the job. John did an outstanding job and gave us so good advice on how to proceed forward.
Ryan totally improved our lives today. He fixed a technology issue we had with our AC and now we are back in control of our unit via our cell phones. Its crazy how much we depend on this feature to adjust our comfort and adjust to keep our monthly spend down when we are away. He stuck with it and didnt quit til it was resolved. Super helpful guy who was super easy to work with. Best of all, it didnt cost me a penny! The service plan is totally worth it!
Jay showed up promptly and was able to diagnose our main concern quickly (an air hammer in our line). He went out and retrieved the parts to fix the problem. Additionally, he pointed out issues with our water heater that our previous contractor failed to address, thereby preventing possible safety issues later on down the line. He was on time, professional, had great manners, very respectful, and helpful in showing me how/where I needed to empty the tank every year. John and Anthony responded to my homes clogged/damaged sewer line. Though this is a work in progress and an excavation and repair are needed, I found Johns knowledge and professionalism impressive. To the bosses at Schaffer, let me say John is an excellent representative for your company. Not only is he skilled at plumbing, but he gave me a little company history behind Schaffer, and a long-standing tradition of quality service. These guys are straight shooters, and are not going to steer you wrong.

Jp came.out to do maintaince on my 12 year old water heater which unfortunately had a leaking valve I wasnt aware of. He talked me through my options (very patiently) and I ended up replacing it. He was able to come back in just a few days and again was a pleasure to work with. Fantastic service!!
Had a leaking sink at the galvanized pipe fitting where it connects to the steel hose and had to have them come out yesterday evening around 10pm. Very prompt service. Franc Rocha was awesome. Very friendly and quick service. Priced very reasonable for the fact it was after hours. He explained everything very thoroughly. If I have any future plumbing issues I would not hesitate to call them.
Robert did a great job with the annual plumbing check. He noticed a safety valve on the water heater was leaking and the unit was rusted. He showed my wife the problem and agreed it was time to replace the water heater. Robert was able to replace it on the same day which was great. My wife said they were very quite and quickly got the work done. Augie and his team members, Eric and Nick, were coordinated, fast and professional. They deinstalled a 24-year-old HVAC system from our house and replaced it with a new Trane system. Augie led the effort and produced a job that left us feeling confident about our decision to go with Shafer. After the system was installed, Augie and Eric provided a thermostat use orientation. Good job guys.We received quotes from two other HVAC companies, both good service providers. Our decision to go with Shaver revolved around their quoting process. No one executed a more thorough and skilled discovery of our existing system and home environment. We felt like we were provided a system that was individual to the design of our house and lifestyle. No one else did that.I believe there is little difference in the top HVAC equipment manufacturers and their warranties. What matters is the installation service and continuing service capabilities of the provider. Our Trane system has a 10-year warranty, but more impressive is Shafer provided a 5-year warranty on their labor to install our new system. No one else who quoted our job could provide that warranty.
Our technician Ryan was exceptional. He came out on a Sunday evening at 6:30 pm and provided excellent service and couldn’t have been nicer. We initially were going to go with another company that recommended a total replacement of our A/C system but wanted a second opinion. We called Shafer and Ryan was sent out. He took a look at our situation and after about two minutes he says “I think we can get this running”. Lo and behold we had cold air in the house after about an hour and at a fraction of the cost. I’ll be using Shafer and asking for Ryan again.
I felt overall, I received good service at a good value for my sewer line cleaning/camera inspection. The only reasons, I gave 4 stars is because I submitted a request online after hours and had to follow up the next day, late morning because no one had called me to schedule an appointment. Luckily the second person I spoke with was able to work me in the schedule for the same afternoon.
I called to schedule an A/C repair for a previousproblem we have had on our A/C unit. In attempting to schedule aservice call and get an approximate estimation of any fee increasesfor this service since we previously requested for their service, theiremployee was arrogant, rude, interrupting, then dismissive and refusedto offer information I requested for supervisors and/or managers. Ifinally was able to get her to provide a name of a manager, Melanie but Ispecifically requested the name and contact information for the mainmanager to lodge my complaint.I do not believe anyone deserves to be treated with such disrespect asI was treated and will NEVER return as a customer to Shafer nor will Icontinue to refer business to their company as a result of thetreatment received by their staff employee. I was initially referred to Shafer by a very well established business owner who has beeninformed of the incident. If their pledge is to treat all customers asfriends as family, they need to rethink how friends and family are andshould be treated. I would also advise re-training their staff ontelephone etiquette and customer service.
I called Shafer Services Plus to repair the A/C unit that was not cooling properly. That initial request was scheduled online 8am by myself and the technician was on site at 12:30pm on the same day. After running diagnostics and inspecting the coils he noticed rust was releasing the freon out of the unit. A more serious issue was that my elderly mother was staying with me during the Covid-19 pandemic and not having adequate cooling would be detrimental to her.The tech informed me that Larry Arriaga was coming to my home to discuss in detail the costs and A/C & heating requirements for my home. He showed up properly protected and reviewed the current unit and measured my home to calculate the correct load amount. We then went to my garage and discussed the various options and he did a great job of answering all of my questions. He also went above and beyond by waiting an hour to ensure a portable cooling unit was installed to keep my mother cool during the evening. He scheduled the install for the next day.The Shafer crew arrived at 9:30am and proceeded to install the new unit. They worked quickly to install the new unit and had us up and running by 2:30pm. First off, they never answer their phones. Called and called and when someone finally answered, they wouldn’t even set an appointment for me. They stated they weren’t taking any new customers. I told them my father just used them. The person on the phone said I would just have to find somebody else. So I did and Air Today came right out with no diagnostic or trip fees. My father will be using Air Today from now on also.Instead of gaining a new customer... you just lost two.

I had a lot of plumbing issues because I reside in a part of San Antonio with extremely high water deposits. I used the Shafer Services Full Plumbing Inspection as a tool for me to discover plumbing issues that a professional plumber would see that I would not. I had also added specific plumbing tasks that I had requested be done in addition to the inspection. I knew that if I ordered a service and the inspection showed it did not need to be done, it would not be done automatically just because I had ordered it.Also, my A/C was not cooling well. Shafer Services technician Vincent did a thorough check and presented me with my options. My previous order for an full A/C check was ignored once he found a leak in my A/C coil, because running all of the checks now would give invalid readings. This company takes care of its customers! [Two days later, my new A/C coil was installed and I am sitting in a cool home for the first time in months!]In both the plumbing and A/C, there was never any high pressure sales pitch. I was given options and information to help me make a decision, and the decisions are mine.The technicians (Vincent, Franc & Shaun) handled their charge (A/C or plumbing) thoroughly, efficiently and effectively, keeping me informed along the way and allowing me my choices. They took pride in their work and in my ultimate satisfaction. They answered my many questions in language I understood so I could make choices along the way. I found them all easy and fun to work with.I highly recommend Shafer Services. I found Shafer Services employees to be friendly, knowledgable, efficient, respectful and courteous, whether they are in the office or a technician out in the field. I have always felt treated as a person of worth. I feel my needs being taken into account (my work schedule, budget constraints, payment options, and family needs).
Had a water heater that was overheating the water, call Shafer for a tech to come out and investigate, Key word Investigate- Its an automatic $60 dispatch charge. Two techs came out but only one did the talking. After providing a brief description of the issue to the tech, he stated that repairs will exceed $500.00, and presented me with options to buy a new unit. The tech looked over some valves, release some water & informed me that my pressure release valve was no good, no real troubleshooting was performed and no root cause was given, at the end I decline their services as I felt they did not have the customers best interest in mind but rather making a sale. Went with another company that came out on a Sunday with no dispatch charge and they got my unit back up and in code compliant in a 1hr 1/2 for way less and my pressure valve was not broken as the Shafer tech previously stated. My only regret was calling Shafer and wasting $60.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is in response to the business owner of Shafer; I truly appreciate you reaching out to me.From our conversation, I sincerely believe that your business ethics is top notch and even though the service I received on the day of my issue was not to company standards, I am very impressed with your continue efforts to make everything right.For potential customers, it speaks volumes about a company that will go out of its way to correct their mistakes. Had plumbing check. Got my call on time this morning. Franc did all the checks. Was super friendly and helpful. Fixed a slow drain issue and installed a new faucet that I purchased at Lowe’s. Been with Shafer for several years and always happy with the service the plumbers/AC guys have given me. U should give them a try.
Jason completed an a/c inspection and quickly got me scheduled to replace my evaporator coil and condenser when he determined that it was working well below efficiency.The three gentlemen (Edgar, Charlie and Hector) who came to do the actual work were AWESOME. They were friendly, professional and incredibly helpful. Hector even helped me trim my bushes while he waited for his colleagues to complete their work!! They were also efficient. I was told it would take upwards of 6 hours to complete the job. They were done in 2.5 hours. Jason adjusted the bill to reflect the reduced labor involved in the job. I highly recommend Shafer and will use them for a plumbing problem I have.
This is our third experience with Shafer Services over the past several years- AC/water softener & water heater. I have tried other plumbers before, but Shafer is the best hands down. They are on time, professional, & do excellent work.Our plumber, Larry, is the best plumber weve had while in the San Antonio area. Our hot water heater died & he arrived on time & installed the new heater within a few hours. This was very much appreciated by my family. Mike Dines ( sales) just left my home and Jason M.(veteran technician) spent many hot hours with me yesterday! They are both from Shafer Services. With an old AC unit, we needed someone professional and detailed, as well as a person that is well versed on all our options for this large investment. John Berron and his team were amazing. I could not have been more pleased with the work, the service, and Johns honesty. He explained the issues I was having with my plumbing and Hot water heater, and I didnt have any real inconveniences while he replaced my water heater and unclogged a drain. I dont see myself using another plumbing service, other than Shafer (and hopefully not anyone else, but John B.). Thank you!
When my AC system leaked in 2017, I called Shafer due to their online reviews and my semi-urgent situation. Unfortunately my system needed to be replaced. I was skeptical of the extent of work needing to be done, but not only did they provide me estimates using different systems, the technicians went through and SHOWED me what was not functioning, what parts would need to be replaced, and after totalling up all the repairs, and replacements, a new system was the better option both for my house and economically. Additionally, they noticed an issue with my water heater that and replaced a tube for me, because it was a simple fix and their technicians were very kind. Im on their maintenance plan and they come out and check my system in the summer and winter. If there is an issue, they let me know, offer me options, and walk me through any steps I can take for preventative maintenance, and also routine inspection on my own. Every technician is friendly and on time (even when Im late) and they are thorough. I really love this team. Vincent was the last tech to come out and he is yet another stellar employee, and embodies the spirit of excellence and customer service of Shafer.
I had a great experience with Franc and Shafer Services. I was originally planning just to have a system flush, but my water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced. Franc was honest and straightforward. He was able to replace the water heater within an hour or so for a good price and even ensured the fixtures were in proper working order.Paying for plumbing work gives me anxiety, especially work I don’t really understand. But Franc and Shafer were fair, prompt and responsive. Would highly recommend.
Shafer Services came to the rescue when we bought our home. I had smelled gas at the hot water heater and they sent Franc who quickly diagnosed and repaired the gas line.On the same day our AC went out. Jason gave me a thorough explanation of the issues and their repair. When we decided to replace the unit Mike came and helped us explore our options. Augie was out to install the unit the next day.I am very impressed by the professionalism and courteousness of all the Shafer team. Alan Did a great job. When I described what was happening, he looked at me like “that can’t be happening”. After he investigated the problem, he found out why. The Company (not Shafer) that installed the system two years ago had wired the thermostat AND the compressor incorrectly. He also reprogramed the thermostat to enable features that I didn’t know we had. Sorting out someone else’s mistakes takes a lot of system knowledge.He only needed to take two steps into the house to get to the thermostat and he put on the booties every time he came in, even after I told his it wasn’t necessary. He watched the door for the pets. Great service!Professional appearance and attitude.Explained everything in detail.Next time I call Shafer Services I hope he’s the one they send out
Love Shafer Services! They are always able to pinpoint the problem with my Plumbing or AC. And once the repair is made, its done. There are no re-dos necessary because its fixed right the first time.We really appreciate their great service people and efficient office personnel. This company is always our first call.
Even though the service rep was quite competent. What I was charged for the condensation pump was more than double the average cost. Shafer takes advantage of the customers needs by jacking up the price of parts. Especially when the need for the repair is most important to the customer.Before you use Shafer take time to breath and compare prices. If you dont Shafer will rip you off.
Another great job by Shafer techs. I discovered a leak under my bathroom sink. When I called Shafer around 10:30 am, I told them it wasnt an emergency, I was catching the drip in a vase. Jackie scheduled a repair for the afternoon, Marley called me to let me know John and Louie were on the way. They came, isolated the leak, showed me the problem, explained what needed to be done, and had the leak fixed by 3:00 pm.I’ve used Shafer for AC and plumbing for close to 10 years and have always been more than pleased with the service. The techs are always friendly, professional, and informative. I dont hesitate to give them my highest recommendation.

Charles at the office is a pleasure to do business with. His attitude and conversation almost makes you happy that youre dealing with a major plumbing issue. He is, as my grandfather would have said, A character in the very best sense of the word.A word has it, a scratch golfer. Next i met Jose. He called to follow up on the work order Charles had started for me. Again, the very best of people. Professional and personable. The tip of the sword for this A-team was Frank and Shaun. They arrived right when I was told to expect them with a game plan already in place and ready to execute. They went about the task with the vigor of skilled tradesmen who love what they do. I am very blessed to have met them. The price was better than any competitor. The work was completed quickly, efficiently and thoroughly despite encountering a few hurdles such as no clean outs and the necessity to enter at the soil stack. Then as quick as that the issue was resolved and they were loading the augers back in the truck. Approximately an hour on site, maybe another hour to mobilze and demobilize. Less than 3 hours from my initial call this morning till work completed and beat every other estimate by a comfortable margin all while providing the highest level of service and professional standards. In the end the price was what Id been quoted by Charles this AM. Exactly, not one penny more. Despite having to deal with 2 different problems they stood firm on their quoted price which my family and I appreciate greatly. All around, one of the most enjoyable major plumbing calamities a person could face. So if you need a plumber, you need Shafer. You could do a lot worse than them but not better.
Shafer did a great job. I called out a service technician while my husband was out of town. They didn’t charge for the service call and fixed my ac unit. The next day I had an additional problem and the same tech came out and took care of us on the spot. Even explained everything to my husband over the phone. The tech was personable and the work was done well. Will def use again. Oh, AND they honor military by offering a discount!
Jay unstopped our sink and removed a non functioning disposal when I saw how nice the new drain ring looked I wanted a new one on the other side. He was already in his truck ready to leave but with no hesitation said sure he could do that and now my sinks look brand new. I really appreciated his accommodation so late in the day.
Nick and Matt came to my house for inspections and did a great job. They took their time and answered ALL my questions. I will continue to do business with Shafer for years to come. A few months ago they did my water heater as well, I believe his name was Larry. Great work!

Repaired Toto toilet by putting in all new parts, installed new faucets, helped me with the height and depth of island faucet replacement.They checked my water heaters - redid insulation that had fallen off. They showed me how to turn on bathtub to draw hot water to my master bathroom sink- so helpful!. They reprogramed my jacussi bathtub- never worked so well in twelve years- thorough and I was very pleased with his work!
The plumber came out as promised and explained options and solutions unfortunately thats as good as it got. He replaced a water heater but failed to attach the exhaust pipes to vent properly. He also removed a faulty filtration unit and put a bypass in, but that leaked. I called and he returned to fix the leak but after he left it started leaking again. He told me they would reimburse me for parts I purchased to fix the problems they left me with but have not heard back.UPDATE:I did receive a call back from the company and was compensated for my time and parts. The person I spoke with was personable and went the extra mile to make sure I was happy and would consider using their services in the future. Its nice to know there are companies still out there that put customer service 1st! Yes I will call them again when I need help!Thank you. RECOMMENDED
Mr. John Berron came to my home with an apprentice to clear a clean-out which backed up water from our washing machine. For me to say that the service provide was excellent would be an understatement! John gave me an honest explanation concerning problems and impediments; and offered me the best option to solve my problems. I am obviously very impressed and, moving forward, will always call on Shafer Services to solve any of my plumbing problems.
Jim and Sandra were very courteous and professional for my recent heat check. Sandra was able to schedule the service within a few days of my phone call. In fact she called me back about an hour after scheduling the service and said Jim was available to come that same afternoon. However, I declined because I had other plans for the day. Jim has been my technician for the last several visits and she was able to schedule him for this visit. I like having the same technician for the continuity. Sandra called me the morning of the scheduled service to remind me and to let me know Jim was on his way.Jim arrived on time within the 30 minute window. I like having a 30 minute window instead of a 4 hour window. Jim was very thorough and didnt try to sell me anything I didnt need. In fact I didnt need anything. He was very professional as always and it is great to see the same technician who knows the history of past work on the system.Shafer Services is a great business, and I am proud to have them for my annual service plan. They definitely have their customers in their best interest.
Augie completed repairs on our HVAC installing parts (blown fuses, replaced a bad drive due to a gecko inside the disconnect, repaired weld on a liquid line,etc.) He tested the system to ensure everything was working and then reset the thermostat.Jason diagnosed the issues and ordered the parts this morning, Augie made the repairs this afternoon. They both are very professional and considerate.Shaver Services staff has provided plumbing and HVAC service to our home for over a decade, The entire staff - including office personnel - are great!

He patiently explained what had to be done, how it would done, as well as how long it would take to complete the entire job. Franc Rocha was efficient, skilled, courteous, and punctual. He found and repaired a major leak that was beneath the house. To protect my safety, he even purchased boards to cover the hole in the floor at no extra charge, although he had to make an extra trip. He and his partner did excellent work.
We purchased a fire table chat set for our new deck and had a natural gas line installed by another recommended plumber. The set, purchased from Costco, was supposed to come with conversion components to natural gas, however there were no instructions, a single brass fitting and as a result the plumber would not connect the unit. Our options were to return the set and go about looking for another one, or trying to find to find someone that could connect the unit. We found Shafer through Home Advisor and called to see if they could help us - along came Ismael and Shaun. The guys looked at the unit and the manual and were not certain how to proceed, however Ismael took a picture of the manual page with customer service information, and pictures of the existing connections (for propane) and said he would call the supplier (Sunvilla) when their service department opened and get back to us. True to his word he called back, advised that speaking to the supplier revealed that they were unable to help - he did not get any useful information. However he did say that they had figured out how to proceed, gave me the price and came back the following day with the parts needed - we now have a working fire pit.I cannot say enough about Ismael and Shaun - they are extremely great representatives for Shafer - and I would definitely recommend the company based on the quality of the people that they employ.I would not hesitate recommending Shafer Services.
Rodney was my technician and he did an amazing job. I had already had another reputable Angies List company come out and look at my air conditioner, which was not blowing cold air. The other company told me I needed a new electrical part and quoted me $700 to replace, it plus labor. I was skeptical so decided to get a second opinion.Rodney came out to my house and spent an hour and a half just looking, testing and thinking. He was ultimately able to track down my problem to a blown 5 amp fuse; replacement cost of $0.50.Rodney also offered to sell me a new thermostat and service plan, and was not a complete jerk when I declined to purchase either. Instead he was gracious and even gave me his number to call in case I had any additional problems after he left.I own a business myself, and consider Rodney to have provided impeccable customer service and to be the kind of employee every business hopes to find to represent them.I would have awarded five stars, but the initial customer service representative indicated the technician would be out between 9 and 10 oclock in the morning - and I missed a meeting to be at my house. Rodney was not able to get out there until after 2 p.m.....Shafer did call periodically throughout the day to keep me informed, though.
The service from Sandra to Mike to John and those in between has been fantastic. They are friendly and knowledgeable. All questions were answered in a professional manner and options discussed. They were fast and effective. They did all the paperwork for a rebate that I didnt know I was getting. The AC unit and price was very reasonable and is working wonderfuly. The customer service is outstanding! I will use Shafer for any future needs and highly recommend them.
7/3/19 - My A/C wasnt cooling so called Shafer Services. Jason listened as I gave him the history of my house and the A/C unit, then looked at every aspect of my system to diagnose the problem and then offer a solution. I appreciate his expertise and professionalism! Augie did the installation of my new compressor. The job had been estimated to take 6 hours and he and the other tech did it in 5 hours. They explained what they would do and why and I really appreciated how professional and respectful they were when discussing the installation with me.I met with Booth about installing new duct work for my A/C system. I appreciate how detailed his assessment of my current duct work situation was and his explanation of what needed to be done and why. He drew diagrams of what he planned to do and gave me a proposal for the scope of work. If you meet with any other company and they dont give you these things - ASK for them! Such a professional company!7/22/19 - My new duct work was installed last week! What a difference! One room was colder than the others so Booth, Augie, and Andy came out to balance the air. They measured the speed, temperature, and humidity of the air flowing from each vent into the room and adjusted the dampers so that each room received the right amount of air for that room, taking into account the size of the room, solar heat from windows & skylights, everything! If your A/C company doesnt do this, you need a new A/C company! Shafer is AWESOME!
Ismael and the team at Shafer Services plus is amazing. They’ve helped me with a clogged drain and a broken water heater. They answered the service calls same day, outlined pricing up front, were timely and polite. I can’t say enough good things about them. It’s hard to find great customer service and reliable work these days but here it is!
Everything went smoothly! Rodney was an excellent technician. He identified the problem quickly and reviewed a video he took with me. He was thorough in his explanations and went over his suggested next steps. He went to work quickly and fixed the problem. When he was finished he explained what he did and waited to ensure it was properly working. I would recommend Rodney and Shafer!

Also appreciate the plumbing crew (Franc) that came out to do my annual inspection - thanks for being thorough!-----3 Jun 14 - Had a full Daikin A/C install and complete duct work replacement on one system in my house before the Memorial Day weekend. The Shafer team did a great job with the install. Booth talked with us about what we needed to do, and did not pressure us into anything. His system design is working well. Hector and Charlie were very professional and worked through a few issues with my older home to get things done right. Had one worksite accident with a new employee knocking out a ceiling sheetrock panel in the garage, but Shafer stood by their word and repaired the ceiling quickly and to our specifications. The foreman, Steve, was professional, listened to my concerns and addressed everything. Im very pleased with my choice in air conditioning professionals.8 May 14 - Great A/C check today. Rodney took care to check out my concerns with the system and taped a few spots that were pretty hard to reach but were obvious leaks in my A/C system. I appreciate Rodneys thoroughness and have recommended Shafer to my friends.

2022-07-31I called three weeks ago to have my ac unit checked and maintenance. They dealt with my husband. Told my husband that we just needed to clean the unit and the filters. Did not charge for services then. Today my husband got home and it was 90 inside. I got home at 6 and it was 105. Tried calling and nothing. Called Elmer’s and in under 3 hours they were here…tell me how your tech did not see that the inside unit was rusted and on its way to compleat Death. Thanks to your tech this company lost out on a complete system replacement. 17 thousand dollars missed out. GOOD JOB!!!!

2022-05-27I needed a whole home plumbing inspection for a new construction home I planned on closing in the next week, so I hired Shafer Services Plus to do it. The inspection was done today on 04/26/22 by Tyler. Even though I couldn’t be there in person for the inspection because of work, I am glad I still scheduled the inspection for today. Tyler was amazing and was extremely thorough. He updated me on what he found during the inspection and really helped me understand and learn what his findings were and what that meant for me as a homeowner. From the phone conversation alone, it felt like I really had a personal advocate in this whole home buying process , and that I was making an informed decision. I wish all contractors and technicians had his level of professionalism and level of motivation. When I did ask a few questions, he really took the effort and time to answer them without brushing the question aside. Finding good contractors and skilled tradesman is difficult, so I am more than happy to have had Tyler do my plumbing inspection. I will be requesting him for any plumbing services in the future. I hope Shafer Services Plus recognize him for his quality work and professionalism. Even though he could’ve given me a brief simplified explanation of the inspection, he went above and beyond to ensure I understood the inspection report before proceeding with closing.

2022-06-04Tyler initially came over to evaluate the plumbing at our new house. To make a long story short, he was absolutely amazing. He diagnosed the problem quickly and was able to come out the next day with Sergio (also an amazing guy!) and provide a fix for our plumbing. Not only were they able to fix out blockages, but they were also able to troubleshoot additional systems in the house to ensure that our AC and plumbing were good to go.Shafer Services Plus was quick, efficient, friendly, and a absolutely fantastic with regards to their customer interactions. We cant recommend Tyler enough. He is awesome!

2022-07-07Tyler has been twice to our house. The first time he came he made a preliminary evaluation of the problem with the plumbing underneath our house and identified the tools that he needed to make a thorough inspection. He came back with the tools that he needed, explored the plumbing thoroughly with a scope, and then sat down with us and slowly, and explaining every step he needs to take to install and entirely new plumbing system, he built the budget and presented it to us. At every step he explained the options available, and at the end he explained the ways in which we could pay. We decided to finance the work, so he helped us contact a financial services company. We filled out the application and in a few minutes the financing was approved. I must emphasize that he presented us with all of the options available without pushing us one way or another. I must add that even during the first time he visited our house, we felt he was our friend and advocate. We also had the chance to talk about non-plumbing issues of common interest and concern, and during those extracurricular conversations I discovered that Tyler is driven by an attitude of service, I do not think I exaggerate by saying that serving others is for him a vocation, and that is the reason why he enjoys everything that he does. Everybody remembers the commercial of an insurance company that said you are in good hands with the good hands people. Well...I am going to sort of plagiarize de commercial and say that we are in good hands with the good hands of Tyler!

The price for installation only was a great deal more than I was expecting to have to pay ($1,000+).

2022-08-19I had Michael at my home to look into a major condensation leak draining inside my AC closet. He did a full evaluation of my system, and not only did he clear out my condensate lines, but he removed all debris from the drain pan, and pointed out issues that I wasn’t aware of. Michael was extremely thorough, performed the repairs quickly, and explained all of his findings. I’ll definitely use Shafer from now on.

2022-04-01These guys are absolutely amazing!! 10/10 in all areas! I had the pleasure of working with Grant and Nick and a few others, the last two days after a blocked pipe backed up into my shower and toilet. They all went above and beyond! They were kind, informative, professional, hardworking, and just overall rockstars! I live in a house that was built in the 60s that still has original cast iron pipes. They are much more prone to getting blockages and it was definitely a tricky situation. During the process my other toilet was accidentally damaged and these guys immediately brought it to our attention and with out hesitation said they would replace and install a new. They did so and made sure to get a brand new of same grade color and quality of my original! They got the blockage out even though it was much more difficult than they thought and they still only charged me the initial quote! Not one penny more! Stand up! They even made sure that my pets were safe and secured at all times and cleaned up after themselves! These guys will be my plumbers for life no question!

2022-05-24Mr. Scott, the technician who assisted us, is very professional and explained to me what the issues were in our system. He is the one fully deserved of the 5 star review. The staff at the Shafer Services branch on the other hand, are closer to a 2 star. They really need to learn how to communicate with their customers. I had to call them 3 times in a week to find out what was going on with appointment times and what was going to be replaced and when. Was very frustrating.
