Didnt know what to expect but we loved the grounds. My only requests would be, extend the quiet hours on the weekend to 11PM. Totally understand the 10PM rule for during the week, but on the weekends? You would think they would have a little bit longer of a time limit. We enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure!
It is a nice little spot to relax by the lake. The cabins we stayed in are older, but are in decent shape. We grilled outside both nights, and everyone around us were very friendly. We saw the owners out and about as well, and they were friendly. Definitely a family-friendly establishment.
The management here is the best I have experienced at any RV park. They are very friendly and helpful. This is a fun, clean, safe place to stay. The dog park is large, well maintained, and has an assortment of dog toys.It is quite peaceful to watch the sunrise over the lake from the swing by the shore of the lake. This is a beautiful, peaceful, yet fun place to stay.
Excellent, privately-owned camp ground. We arrived after hours, while it was raining. I called the office like and was greeted by a caretaker within 3 minutes. He lead us down to our shelter and got us squared away for the night. The camp ground dried out quickly due to the sandy ground. Pretty lakefront property. Family friendly. Helpful staff. The fishing pier was fun for my boys. They caught a couple of catfish. Overall, we will definitely be going back and probably with a larger group of people.
So peaceful and quaint. One bedroom one bath with a queen-pull out couch. I loved the patio area and hung out there most evenings. I stayed within 10 feet of the cafeteria area which was close enough to walk to the water. Within walking distance of some local restaurants which my family and enjoyed. Beach volleyball area as well as playground for children. My family had a great time kayaking, floating, swimming, fishing, cooking, hanging out, and relaxing. Great get away!
We didnt stay there, but pulled in to use their dump station. Being new at RV camping, we had never dumped our tanks before. The staff directed us to the dump site and assisted us and instructed us in the dumping of our tanks. All this was done in pouring down rain. Wow for sure. We did take time to review the park and facilities. Very nice. Spots are roomy and lots of shade. Great option for next time. Thank you all so much.
We stayed here for 2 nights while traveling thru Texas. Would have liked to stayed longer. We were greated with a smile. Maintenance worker escorted us to our site and even trimmed a branch. Beautiful view of the lake. Nice swimming area and fishing pier. Campground has alot of trees, very scenic park. Campsites are very large and everything is kept clean. We saw the maintenance man walking thru the park in the evenings and he was still picking things of the ground, thats dedication. I would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I are celebrating our 23rd wedding Anniversary todayAnd our time here has been very peaceful and scenic. Had a young buck cross in front of our cabin while sitting on the porch, how blessed was that. We will be spending more time here and a big thank you to Freida .
Quaint, rustic, vintage. Concur with a previous review that this property resembles a State Park: Nicely wooded, sand roads and sites, lots of critters, and great staff. Local police patrolled the property at night. Lots of families, safe for kids. Would give 5 stars once they catch up on repairs.
Unfortunately, this is not a good review. My husband booked our xmas stay here for a week, dec 17-24. They have cabins to rent, as well as rv lots. The website gives a description of the cabins. We chose Cabin #11. Upon arrival, we could tell the place was empty. There is a beautiful lake which is why I gave it the 1 star rating. The cabin was very dirty, and old. The insulation was horrible. There were cobwebs EVERYWHERE. The mattresses were old. Dead flys in the window sill. The cable they offer at best is 5 channels. Aside from walking to the lake there is literally nothing to do there nor is anything around. We left the very next morning. Worst accommodations ever!! Of course we got no refund and were told they routinely clean. Lol they need to fire whoever that is.
We spent two nights here and had an amazing time! We spent the first night in a shelter which was very nice and had a great view overlooking the lake it was just a bit too cold. Since it was a little too cold to stay in the shelter the second night we easily switched to a cabin and we loved it. They had activities for the kids in the cove for spring break and my son thought it was awesome! I highly recommend this place if you’re looking to relax and have some peace and quiet. It was never loud at night and the staff is always driving around checking on everyone and bringing firewood when needed. We’ll definitely be back!
At one time I had given it five stars dropped it down to four. Excellent place to go camping. Unfortunately I had drove several hours the lady refused to let me in I was lucky to be able to get a hold of one of my family member little did she know I was on the list and she was not going to let me go back there! All other staff is Pleasant would not care to deal with her again do not know her name if I did I would certainly have posted it
My family has stayed all over Texas and Shiloh on the lake Hands down the best campground we have ever been too. The swim area and fishing pier were a few feet from our waterfront rv site. We caught Perch, Catfish, and Bass. The rest of our family stayed in Cabin 10. It was perfect for all 9 of them. I cannot say anything bad about our stay. We loved it and cant wait to come back!!
We went as a family, children range 2-12Camp site was nasty, dirty full of sand ants and leaves. Unleval for tents each site was to come with grill fire ring and picnic table. We had rented 4 sites t picnic table broke rotten wood 2 fire rings and 3 grills with holes and no rack to cook with. Quiet time was at 10 pm well that’s when the fighting and cussing started. Called at 12:30 and 2 for noice and loud music. Today truck zooming down to water and then back up the hill. Later same truck carrying drunk in the back. We decided we would leave didn’t want our kids around foul mouths and fight. I would definitely not recommend this place. You will not be happy
Stayed here for almost 2 weeks with our Class C using Passport America. Park lets you have up to 14 days with a discount!!. Only park we have used that does this so far. Very good shaded spots and lots of pull the US for you big rigs and vehicles. Cabins looked nice and decks facing the large lake. Swimming is available in the lake that is roped off with large steps to enter. No pool . Cell service is very had to get internet underneath the trees and far out location. No wifi was available to use.Nice laundry up in the front office but you might be competing with the staff using it for the cabin turnovers.
We stay here about 6 times a year, and I honestly have nothing to complain about. The staff are top notch: caring, friendly, and they take pride in the upkeep and maintenance of the campground, AND making a safe environment for everyone. Dont come here if youre wanting to party and make noise all night; thats not what this place is about! Quiet time is from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, and its enforced! But that same man who patrols the grounds constantly (and will nicely tell you to quiet down, if necessary), is also the same nice man who asks you if you need more fire wood and who makes you feel SAFE at night. Reserve in advance during peak months, as they stay busy!
The service was good. They do not provide towels or rags, but they do ask for you to wash the dishes and only provide one rag to wash it.... nothing to dry with. Also they have a window unit that does not cool down the entire cabin very well. The price is high for what they offer. Fishing peer is nice. Rooms are nice. Cabin is overall good.
Started out nice. On third night skitzers moved to spot close by. My car was broke into that night. Two nights later man jumped out of dumpster towards my daughters. Place has potential. Staff is great. Place is nice. Unfortunately its in a dope infested neighborhood. No way to avoid it.
Stopped here for the night while passing through. Quite, right on the lake and extremely nice neighbors! Super nice folks running the campground. Took the kids to the pirate ship playground which they loved! Steve lead us to the sight and help out any way he could, thank you! Free fire wood is offered to guest. Will definitely remember you guys anytime we pass though the area.
A large group of us camped here for a weekend stay. Some of us got the cabins, and some had travel trailers. We had a wonderful time!!! The cabins are set up perfectly for having a group with you as the back doors of the cabins go to a general area where everyone can congregate. I stayed in cabin 4 which was great- very comfortable beds and good air conditioner. But I must say- cabin 3 was cute cute cute. 2 rooms vs one big room, and had wood paneled walls and a 60s style table. Felt like grandmas house. Hah. Our friends with the campers got the spots that are next to the cabins-- those spots are very small (especially the two middle ones) but they are very convenient if you are going with anyone that will be staying in cabins. Otherwise- I would think you wouldnt want to get those spots. The cabins were cute and VERY clean. The employees were all so nice and very present, I saw a guy on a golf cart driving around frequently. They have a large dock you can fish off of- and a nice swimming spot with steps to get in. The volleyball area was very flat and good... a few ant piles but im sure they try to keep it treated. We will defineitly be back. So glad we found a such a nice camping spot close to home.
We have stayed at Shiloh on the Lake for a month and love it here. The owners are accomodating and friendly. We enjoy the fact that there are quiet hours and dont have to put up with partying until the wee hours. I will choose this park again because of the caring staff. Thank you Steve, Elaine, Linda, and Crystal. Youve helped make my stay so pleasant. Www - home away from home!!
Arrived July 9,2019 for 7 days. Park check in was quick, Passport America friendly, a guided escort to site. A quick welcome and advised a Family reunion will likely fill the campground that weekend. It surely did fill the place up. Cleaning staff had campground rv park clean every day. Grounds keeper continually working. We had a great time. Enjoyed the fishing pier and entered the sandy bottom lake. I thought I was at the coast! Convenience stores across the main road, dollar type store less than mile away. Malakoff city only 4 miles away a small grocery store there too. The owner stopped by our site and visited for bit. We were able to attend church services in town on Saturday afternoon. We will most likely return, highly recommend a visit or extends stay. No camper or RV, no problem the have nice cabins for rent. You could call Campers.com and rent a travel trailer, they bring to campground and set up turn key service! Rick & Mary Jane, Aliner campers
We couldnt even enjoy our sons birthday with our friends and family without the constant harassment from the owner. He claimed we were too loud and needed to go to bed. There was literally 5 people outside sitting by the camp fire, talking. When we asked if we had gotten any noise complaints, he told us he hadnt recieved any. This continued throughout the night. Until my boyfriend told the guy that he had better find somewhere to go.We paid a ludicrous amount to stay there for our kids birthday just to get harassed the whole time.Save your money and find somewhere else to camp out.Maybe they should move the tent camping area away from the cabin area. So people in the cabins can enjoy the amenities that are supposed to be included without the free of charge harassment from the owner. And the parking was a huge problem and disaster from the get-go.They wouldnt even let my 75 year old grandparents park at the cabin because they didnt want too many vehicles at our cabin. They were only going to be there for the cake and presents. Im beyond appalled and refuse to give them another dime. Seriously, if youre looking for a place to be quiet and and make no noise and you have 0 kids... Then, this place is just for you. If you want to be able to sit around a fire, hang out with your family, and have a good time this is not a good place for it.
This place is run by the sweetest people ever. My husband and I went camping 1st time and fell in love. Clean bathrooms very CLEAN, camping site was clean, grills and tables were in tact. Awesome fire pit and they bring you FREE WOOD. They have lil golf carts and the security drives around day and night. The camp site is open so if you arrive after office closes they leave you the information in the mail box. FAMILY friendly and quite, they have 2 awesome play grounds and a doggie park. Great for family reunions and parties. Were had our bag of trash walking up to take to dumpster and they came by in the golf cart said we got that for you. OMG loving and caring people EVER. A must visit place. In a small town called Malakoff outside Athens Tx an hour from Mesquite where we live. Cant wait to take our grandkids back. LOVE IT....5 STARS FROM THE GRIMMETTS!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is our second year spending our vacation here at Shiloh. It will not be our last. We love the quite shade around the shelters and the antics of the squirrels. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, this is not the place for you but if you are looking for a nice relaxing time at the lake I recommend Shiloh on the lake.
This place sucks. Do not come here. The fun natzi on the golf cart will not allow anything fun and complains about everything. You cant even drive to the lake to drop your things off without driving back to camp. They complain about anything you do. Even the police thought the music was not loud but the fun notzi on the golf cart said she didnt like it. This place sucks. Do not waste your time or money.
My husband and I took our twin grandsons this past weekend and we met some friends there!! This place is awesome!! We will definitely be going back!! The staff is so nice and caring!! They made sure we had everything we needed!! Thanks to all the staff for an awesome weekend!!
Trying to camp out and since trying to give us a bed time. The owner limes to walk around the land all night stalking everyone, while were trying to hang out around the fire. Dont under stand whats the problem. Do not come to the over priced place. We for shore will not be back.
This place was really nice at first and we’ve been there for a few weeks and out of the blue they told us we have to leave for no reason. A few days before that we called and complained about a guy who worked there that was harassing our family saying we don’t belong there even though we had a sticker EVERY SINGLE DAY and payed over $1000 with them. Come to find out the guy was the owner that had been coming down there being rude and harassing us. Don’t recommend this place to anyone. And the day we left they charged our card for way more than what it was supposed to be and now can’t get ahold of anyone. Not happy at all

2022-06-19Absolutely loved our stay here! We stayed in site D2 on the water and it was magical. Beautiful views. Beautiful scenery. Right next to the swimming area and fishing pier. The guests and the long term residents were all so friendly! We love this place and can’t wait to return! Freida, I will be calling you soon to book the site we want! Thank you for being so welcoming and kind!

2022-03-28Great park at a great price. Stayed here three nights visiting friends in the area. Nice sites with lots of trees. The best feature is they give you a nice bundle of free wood for your fire. I would give it a five except the sites are basically dirt, no gravel, so it was a little dusty and if it rains probably muddy. We did enjoy walking down by the lake and around the wooded park.

2022-05-17My husband and I travel the US, and live full time in our RV. Needless to say we have stayed at a ton of RV parks. We have been living at Shiloh On The Lake for 6 weeks and have had the best experience all around.Frieda, our now friend who works the front desk is one of the nicest, most accommodating people you will ever meet. She always has the most beautiful smile on her face and makes you feel welcomed like youre apart of her family. One reason we will be coming back to stay is to pay a visit to lovely Frieda. The park is so maintained and absolutely gorgeous with its huge trees and beautiful lake. I spent hours enjoying the view on the huge grass lawn during my stay. 10/10 experience!

2022-08-10Good place for a reunion. Looking forward to the upgrades that are coming. Ihope they invest a lot, especially in the RV spots (make them more organized), the cabins, the Cove (needs a sprucing up, new cooking equipment, stain the concrete floor, other aestetics), and the roads need repaving.

2022-05-10Put a 80.00 deposit down on the shelters in April of 2021. THEY called me and asked me if we could chose another weekend due to bad weather coming. I told her we dont get out there often and she said she would hold our 80.00 untill the next summer meaning this year 2022. We love going out there and wanted to stay this weekend for my birthday so I called and they proceed to tell me that MY 80.00 is now been donated to them because I should have used it by Dec 31st 2021. THAT WAS NOT WHAT WAS TOLD TO ME. I feel like they should make this right. NOT my fault the lady lied. Then Freeda wants to call my phone back to tell me I still cant book a cabin. Like why even call me back if your NOT going to make it right. This isnt right at all and its terrible customer service.A credit is a credit no matter when you chose to use it. We wouldnt be in this boat if THEY wouldnt have made us cancel our reservations in the first place.

2022-07-11If I could leave a 0 I would. New management is rude, only inforces rules when she sees fit, makes up new rules as she goes. Its gone down hill big time.

2022-07-11Used to stay here once a year or so, but since it changed hands, not a fan at all. Well be looking for a new place to stay. Not sure what the new owners were thinking putting the person in charge that they have. Just wow.

2022-07-18I went in just to look at the park for a relative. The lady at the desk was very rude and stated she was to busy to assist me that I would have to come back. Very nasty attitude. No Thank you! Will go elsewhere!

2021-11-23This is one of my all time favorite campgrounds. Oak trees, lake, bathhouse, community meeting hall. Takes me back to my youth I could honestly live here. AND they have fire rings at each site! Warning if youre looking for a luxury pad and the fufu place this is not it. It is a camping, spending time with the family kind of place.
