Skillets in other cities:
It was ok, the kids got all you can eat pancakes and it took a while to get more pancakes, it wasnt real busy and it never fails every time my Dad asks what the soup and vegetable of the day is, they never know and have to leave the table and go check the container its in! I was a waitress and when I came on lunch shift I always asked what the soup and vegetable of the day was just so I didnt run back and forth, other than that everything was good!
My waitress was nice I couldnt believe coffee was over $2 and when I did order breakfast to go it took about 40 minutes and they was not busy. The first time I went about 6 months ago I took my 7 year old granddaughter early morning 9 Maybe I told the hostess or whoever it was that I needed a table and I was hunting season and the only one they had set for people and she didnt want to give it to me and my granddaughter. She act bothered because she knew she was going to lose tips by sitting me there. Im glad she wasnt there this last time my waitress was nice. Coffee should not be over $2.
First time to come here and it was outstanding! Arrived about 9:30am and while the parking lot had about 15 cars we got seated right away. Got our food less than 10 minutes after we ordered...it was all cooked exactly like we ordered and was delicious! Staff was super friendly too. Well be back!
Breakfast buffet is ok, not great. Service is usually friendly, sometimes slow. Tonite I had CFS. Pretty good. Fried okra was really good and piping hot. Mashed taters good, could have been hotter. Cream gravy looked a bit thin., but tasted just fine. Roll was burned all to hell, lol. Tea was about $2.50. Place could use a thorough cleaning.
My server was amazing today! I wish I remembered her name! I usually ask for Crystal because she is amazing too but we had breakfast in the booths to the left and the young brunette girl with such a great attitude and spirit was a breath of fresh air as well! Good job Skillets for hiring ppl with great customer service ;)
I dont know what has happened to this place. I use to go there 2-3 times a week. But the food has gotten worse and worse. I go back every few weeks in hope they have the food they use to serve. This last trip I think is the final straw. After our waiter got our table and drinks it took him 30 minutes to come back and take our order. There where at most 4-5 other tables so that was unacceptable. After he finally did take our order he decided his attention and energy was best suited to flirt with another waitress. This I could blow off and would not bother me if I didnt see that my order was sitting in the window waiting to be sent out. 8 minutes it sat there before he finally turned his attention to it. OK 8 minutes maybe the eggs will still be somewhat passable but no he then spends another 10 minutes to scoop butter and refill a syrup dispenser. Finally the food gets to the table and once again he disappears to flirt. The eggs where overcooked and the bacon and sausage was barely above room temperature. Fine maybe I can send the bacon and sausage back for some hopefully warm ones. Nope, 35 minutes and long empty cups later he decides to check on us. At this point I am fed up. I have talked to a manager about the same things my last trip and she blew me off and obviously the problems still persist. I really used to love this place but this experience is basically my last 3 visits Ive the last month and I am finally taking this place off the lists of places I will go.
Normally have good food. Hash browns were undercooked and cold, syrup was Ice cold and not warmed up. Server did not write my order down and brought me the wrong plate. Seemed to me like she only cared about getting tips as I can hear them behind my booth talking about it. When I checked out she said thank you ma’am, then quickly apologized, I’m clearly a dude.
Eggs were raw and cold as the waitress was talking to patrons. My husband paid the bill in full plus tip and went to the car. When I got to the counter she told me he shorted her and I gave her a $5. She clearly put some of his money in her apron. So a meal that cost $15 just cost us $20 because of a dishonest waitress. I do not reccomend this place.
Well, the people were nice... But we waited nearly 10 mins to be seated (no line or others, just no one came to acknowledge our presence or seat us. Was about to leave when we were finally seated.), I immediately ordered our food (2 Big Boy Breakfast meals Each consisting of 2/2/2/2- pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns.). After nearly 30 minutes of a wait, finally received 2 orders of undercooked eggs, cold sausage, undercooked bacon, and over cooked pancakes. The hash browns were good though. Was my first and last visit to Skillets.
We haven’t been disappointed yet! Service is always kind, doesn’t close so early like most places around here, and food is home-y and tasty. Great chicken friend steak.Could use some money put back into the looks of the restaurant, the booths are worn out- that’s why the 4 stars.
Great Food and Great Portions! We liked the home town atmosphere, Clean, Friendly Staff! We Came in not knowing anything about this restaurant so Glad We stopped for our Familly Dinner we came in a little before 5pm so that was good timing it quickly started to fill up. Well be coming back!
I shouldnt even give this business 1 star.. they served me sour milk with chunks in it. And watched me drink it. Then when ran outside to puke. They asked my mother why I made a disgusted face. Which leads me to believe that they knew they were serving me sour milk. Why were they watching me drink the MILK?Im pregnant... and that is the only reason I asked for milk in the first place. Then when I came back in my food was cold ,they did not clear my plate.. the buffet was disgusting. They serve canned fruit at the fruit bar. The only fresh fruit was melon, and it was hard and not ripe at all. The only thing edible were the eggs and bacon.. I waited 30 minutes for them to put bacon out.. and it was a pile lumped together of greasy bacon. I had to blot mine off on a napkin. I tried the french toast sticks.. and promptly spit it out on my plate. It was microwaved.. if I could describe the food in the nicest way possible I would call it institutional. After all that they were still going to charge us. But I complained and our waitress had a huge attitude and told us she was not going to charge us.While we were eating we were glared at and it was obvious they didnt like that my mom had openly complained about the sour milk for the entire restaurant to hear, while I was outside puking. I should have just walked out then.. but being pregnant and hungry I tried to pull myself together.I dont know how many ex cons you can have in one building but the entire staff looks like they just broke out of jail. All in all.. my experience was terrible and my family will never return there. The only reason I can think of that they are still in business is the fact they are one of the only breakfast places in brownwood.Oh and to the owner ... your employees tried to throw you under the bus by saying its your fault the fridge was broken and not keeping the milk cold enough.Wich would also mean the food isnt being kept cold enough. And we mentioned that... then our waitress changed her story to ..... they keep the milk and creamer in a separate fridge.... I never write bad reviews, Im a forgiving and reasonable person. Im sorry I had to write this. But hopefully some improvements can be made and help your business.
We were from Albuquerque NM and Xamas day we spent 45 mins waiting for to go order getting to our room at Holiday Inn which was 2mins away the fish half cooked and cold potatoes cold hatd..will never eat there again next day went to Cotton patch. Great experience and food there
First visit I ordered a little bit of everything. Soup of the day was lasagna... Speachless! So much flavor and zest I had to try their 2nd soup of the day cheeseburger... Amazing! The lip smacker was delish. Juicy burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches plus I added an egg to test their skills. Perfecto! Beef stuffed spud meat was soooooo packed full of flavor. And FINALLY the BlackBerry cobbler was just perfect. Im moving in next week!!!! Just kidding, but i will be back!
Sometimes service is awesome. .and sometimes its not...depends on youyour waitstaff. ..and the food. .is the same way. .sometimes the food is cooked amazing and other days its horrible. . Not consistent and sometimes they forget to check on their tables. . You have to find someone for refills. :-(
Visited Skillets today. Wait was longer than usual. I had bragged to my son how good the pancakes were, but today was not the day to show skillets off! New cook, long wait. Acoustics in Skillets very poor, so loud, my brother and mom have a hard time with hearings aides in there with the loudness.
Great place for all day Breakfast. Favorite items are the Pancake Two Step with Whole Grain Pancakes, or for non-breaKfast, the Chicken Bacon Melt. They also have a breakfast buffet, and a Sunday lunch buffet with fried chicken, turkey and dressing, and all the sides. Checketh outeth!
Skillets have been here for a long time, offering good food and service. I like to order breakfast or made-to-order meals. Their breakfast buffet is great...But, too much for me these days. In fact, since my wife and I have had various illnesses in the past 4 years, we havent been out to eat anywhere. But, someday (Lord willing).😀SAD UPDATE: The rumor mill is cranked up and saying Skillets in Brownwood is closing. But, in its place will be a Chic-fil-a (my favorite fast food restaurant. UPDATE: I hear that an I-HOP is coming to Brownwood, also.😀
I went to skillets last night and the lady that was there was so rude. It was 15 minutes till 1 and the lady walk up and said we close in 15 minutes and walked away. Its like where I work I would never turned down a customer even though we close in 15 minutes. I really do think that was very rude and uncall for.
I ordered chicken fried steak looked good but my sided order of fries had something that was black on them made them take it back to make a new order they returned the same plate with only half the fries fries was cold I was a little upset so I told them to keep and lift

2018-02-21For being a busy restaurant we got good service, I’ve only eaten here a couple of times, chicken fried chicken was good but it needed a little bit of seasoning. The whole hog omelette is actually very good no complaints here. I have not had their breakfast or lunch buffet, but I will return to go and try it.

2018-06-16The restaurant itself could use some updates but the food was delicious. I felt so sorry for our waitress, they were super understaffed and she was hustling to take care of everyone that she could while the other waitress, who had a BABY on her hip and looked like she hadnt showered in days, did very little except pick at her nose ring and treat customers with bad attitude.I based my rating on the good food and good waitress I had but I only gave 3 stars because of the short-staffing & updates it needs.

2019-05-10Had breakfast buffet. Not the greatest, but good and price was decent. Visiting with family, and we could actually hear each other. Even though the restaurant was busy it didnt seem noisy at all.Service was good, didnt have to ask for more coffee, cream or napkins. Will be back.

2018-03-13Ate breakfast here with some friends. Received among the best service I can remember thats not at a top end restaurant. I tried to keep it light and got a relatively small breakfast. It was perfect, not too greasy, not too small to big, and cooked just the way I would have done it. The price was great. This is a great place to go eat breakfast.

2017-07-28Wait staff was great and very friendly. I ordered the hot beef plate. It was just lukewarm. Had to send it back to get reheated. Taste was just ok. Husband got the catfish plate and thought it was good. On a side note: We had stopped here about a week earlier for breakfast. ..very good!

2019-03-02Good coffee shop prices are a tad high. Update: two times we have had to walk out from not being waited on. Tonight we waited 20 minutes and no one came for our drink order. They were really not that busy.It seems like they are not even trying anymore. Its obvious that they have no leadership. Sad, it used to be pretty good.

2017-02-16We had a fabulous breakfast today! The food was fresh and the eggs cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the french toast with scrambled eggs and my friend had an omelet with biscuits and gravy. Both were fantastic! The sweet tea was excellent! The breakfast menu had many tasty options. The service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
