We have been here for an hour and are still waiting to donat! 3 people have left 2 of them had appointments because they were 20 minutes past their appointment time. Only 1 person in a bed giving blood and 4 sitting in the lobby waiting. Staff is extremely unfriendly and cold.... what happened to giving blood was a service? These people act like you have to be here! Worse than the DMV! SHAME ON YOU SOUTH TEXAS BLOOD AND TISSUE! I hope and pray Im never in the position to need your help!
Im here right now and these people are so rude. I literally dont want to even donate now. Trying to turn me away from DR donatio . If you need certain info so bad you might want to add that to your website when you book the appointment. Irene apparently is a Supervisor here and she is beyond rude. If this is such a state of the art facility wouldnt you be able to test for my exact blood type? Now dont get me wrong. Should I know my blood type, yes, but I cant remember if its Pos or Neg because its not like it comes up in normal conversation. I will never come back here.
I went to this location because it was very conveniently placed near me. I usually donate as much as possible. I walked into this location and wasnt even greeted properly the lady at the front desk just tossed a clip bored at me and assumed that I would know what to do. She just acted very stuck up and like she didnt want to be there. After about 15-20 min of waiting and listening to a few women in the back of the building talking about what they where going to do later that evening, I was eventually called. It wasnt a busy day I heard one of them say. So why it took that long to call me to the front is beyond me. Once I was in the back the lady taking my iron level didnt even mention when she was going to stick me in the finger with the sharp needle. She just did it! She took my blood pressure and my temperature and everything went down hill from there (like it was ever going up hill). I took a seat where they told me and another lady with big hair ,long nails ,and an attitude like Ive ever seen walks up to me WITHOUT GLOVES ON and proceeds to stick me with the needle. It happened so fast that I barely had time to react. She didnt even check for a freaken vain. She just stuck it in. After about 20 seconds of her trying to find a good flow she starts twisting it and pulling it in and out. Another woman walked up and had the audacity to ask me if it hurt. Hell yea it hurt! Let me remind you that I donate all the time. Im a 19 young, healthy person and Ive never,NOT ONCE, had a problem with anyone finding my vein. They pulled it out blaming me because I was dehydrated. Even though I drank 6-7 cups of water a few hours before going, like Ive done before every donation that I do. Another lady after the whole situation went down walked up crossing her fingers and saying dont give up on us! Multiple times. I dont know what she meant by that. But it must mean the messed up. Its been about 3 weeks and Im still bruised all around my vein and arm area. That whole experience was terrible. I dont advise anyone to go to this location. They will treat you like a blood bag rather than a person. The phrase that really comes to mind is theyre out for blood. Well, thats my experience with this location. I dont wish it upon anyone. My arm still hurts when I move it.
Made an appointment for 1:30 was asked to show up early. I showd up 40mins early and at 1:50 still wasnt seen. Asked the front desk staff and I was told it would be another hour wait! Whats the point of making an appointment if your going to take all the walk-ins first? I called prior to leaving and I asked if I would be taken back at 1:30 and I was told yes. Waste of my time ... horrible service!
Waited over an hour and didnt even get to donate because of how behind/long they were. I made an appointment and thought I would be seen at my set time since I had other things to do that day but since they were taking so long I had to leave. I was excited to donate because I got calls how my blood was in high demand and now am disappointed that I wasnt able to give.
I called this place to ask a few questions before I went up there. The lady on the phone was so rude, she answered the phone like “Hello” uh okay arnt you suppose to answer with including the name of the business? Plus she sound like she had an attitude on the phone. I’m so glad I didn’t waste my time going up there & I suggest anybody who is interested in going to this place DONT . unless they get different receptionist

2022-03-02I decided to donate blood. I registered on the website and they sent me a questionnaire to fill out. I did it right away and scheduled an appointment for the next day. I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment time along with others who walked in before me. The receptionist asked if the lady had an appointment and she said no. She said OK please come with me and fill out this questionnaire. Then she checked in my wife and asked if she had filled out the questionnaire. She said yes. Then she checked in a guy ahead of me who came in after me. And she came back to me and asked if I had filled out the questionnaire and I said yes. Then she left me in the lobby for 20 minutes. She took me to the back and told me I had to redo the questionnaire because I filled it out the day before my appointment. Apparently that is not allowed and it is not written down anywhere and no one tells you that. I could have filled out the questionnaire a second time while she had me sitting in the lobby for 20 minutes. Then she proceeded to take the walk-in ahead of me. I waited over an hour before they took me to the Back. I asked if they were understaffed and she said no but the receptionist had gotten flustered because she had so many people in the lobby at one time. I asked why did you took patients ahead of me when I had an appointment? She said it shouldn’t have happened. That doesn’t help me though does it. The staff in the back were very professional and polite. Check in area was TERRIBLE.

2020-09-13This was my first time donating at this location. Staff was attentive and treated me fairly. When I had my blood drawn, about a quarter way in I get very dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out. I told my Phlebotomists and she quickly reacted and told another staff member and they immediately attended to me and made sure I was taken care of. I couldnt be more thankful.Thank you again for your care and attention.

2020-12-11Very COVID careful procedures. I went to my appointment to donate (Rogers and Culebra) but the very young phlebotomist missed the jab. The supervising phlebotomist tried to fix it but it was not going to flow. Since no one can ever find the vein in my left arm, I was told to wait 8 weeks and try again. I just want to say how professional these ladies were and considerate. I was given some ice packs for the bruising, which was minimal. I hope my old persnickety vein does not discourage that “newbie”. Hang in there ! It will come naturally to you in a bit!❤️Y’all keep on ! Doing vital work!

2017-09-01I was a walk in blood donation. The wait was approximately 1 hour since there were 2 appointments before me. Irene was outgoing when she did my interview and vitals. William was awesome! He was courteous, great at inserting the needle and funny. Thank you again for providing life saving services to South Texas 🖒

2020-03-19Was worried by reading some of the reviews, but I had a good experience. The staff was pleasant and followed good protocol for safety and cleanliness.Budget at least an hour to an hour and a half. Save yourself some time by making an online appointment and filling out the questionnaire before you go!

2019-08-13Dinstead blood today at the Culebra branch. Julio was at the front desk and I found him to be welcoming and courteous. The atmosphere was calm with soft music playing the background. I helped myself to some Gatorade While the ladies prepped my bag. They, too, were courteous and welcoming. From start to finish I was there an hour.

2022-01-03They botched my donation. I wish I paid attention to be sure the needle was taken from the sterile drawer.

2019-08-13I donate here often, it is time consuming, but that’s true of every donor room. The staff are efficient l, courteous, and professional. They really take their time to ensure every donor is as comfortable and safe as possible.
