Been wanting to review this STHS Free Standing ER for a while now. I have been to this ER a few times now, tested the nights shift, and day shift. I got to say, the night shift did a better job than the day shift. Night shift was attentive, caring, compassionate, and were able to get me in and out in 3 hours, dayshift took 6 hours, and mid-shift took 5 hours. With that said, I know we’re are all short staffed, but come on, the day shift nurses and doctors can do better. I have never revealed to them that I am an Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA) because I don’t want to intimidate the nurses there and don’t want them to treat me differently than regular folks that come in. I wanted to get the real experience of what a actual patient goes through, and let me tell you that this ER failed me twice now. I am so disappointed. At DHR we are also short staffed, but we hustle and 5-6 hours, even 3 hours is unacceptable for the condition(s) patients and myself came in with. I’m not saying to go to DHR instead bc we also have shorted staffing issues, what I am saying is that you guys need to step it up, and provide the care in a timely manner and try to get patients out as quickly as possible in a safe manner. Hope things change if I ever go back, if not I’ll be speaking with my good friend Mr. Lance Ames (STHS CEO). Also, please clean the rooms before you all place patients in the rooms. Day shift needs to clean rooms from the blood that was spilled on the floor, and need to change the linens. You ain’t fooling anyone. I would upload these pictures here, but I’ll give you all another chance to improve.
Brought my son in to this facility and was very thankful Dr. Bey and Pam treated my son. He was taken into a room right away and started getting everything he needed quick. I’m very appreciative that the staff acknowledged my concerns and ran the necessary tests to diagnose my son. My son continued his treatment at Edinburg childrens but the treatment we had at STHS McColl is definitely one I will recommend to family and friends with children. Thank you so much 🫶🏽🫶🏽
Do not stop here. I called to this location late Thursday night to ask if they were open to offer services to all medical emergencies because signage around the building suggested that they help people with heart conditions. The lady on the phone was rude and and refused to answer my question stating that she did not understand. I tried to explain what my emergency was but she stated “we get 100s of calls a day I don’t know what to tell you” I said “ ma’am I understand that but I have never had to make a call like this before. I am not sure where to go can you please help me” she went on to tell me “ you need to make up your own mind about where you want to go” I said “okay” and she hung up on me. My 4 yo son was passed out in the backseat suffering from extreme dehydration after vomiting several times consecutively. It was raining and 40 degrees out. I spoke in a calm clear tone. This lady did absolutely nothing to put me at ease and only exasperated the issue. Had she taken the time to ASK what the concern was and then tell me if their location could help or not would have been a much better manner to handle my call. Lady, if you cannot handle the stress that comes with your position then you need another job. Thankfully, the team down at DHR took my son in asap and he is doing better. The 1st woman to answer my call was Lori but this other woman came and took the phone from her and she was the one that was rude and unprofessional.
My husband went to the McColl freestanding ER for wellness labs with orders, He gave the orders to registration at 10 AM on Saturday morning his checkout pay receipt was 1031 Saturday morning where he paid for the labs. We found out later in the afternoon the same day that one of the labs was missing and when I called to ask the ER about it they said that it had been sent it was a sent out to McAllen Medical. When the result still was not there an hour later I called again and was Passed to the lab a was told it was sent and the lab should be available in the patient portal. When I said it was still not available, and asked if he could check the orders he said the doctor did not order it. I informed him I had the orders that had been given to registration. He told me I would have to come pay the 11 dollars and bring the order. It is now 7pm on a Saturday night I had to get a sitter to go and do this to have the lab sent and run. Also they ran a panel instead of a single lab that was ordered which was a lot more expensive. No one owned what happened and no one could even tell me who to call regarding this. I told my friend about this and she said this always happens with that ER you should never go there and dont tell anyone to go there.
McAllen Medical South Texas Health SystemsTHANK YOU,My husband was once again admitted through ER, because he had and continued to be on unbearable back pain due to his spinal metastatic cancer, and paralysis.7 East we are forever grateful for your strength, compassion and care during this frightful journey. I am eternally grateful to the doctors, nurses and all the staff that continue to be involved in my husband’s care. My husband is still admitted but the staff continues to care for him as if he was their primary patient. We have a strong family and friends support system but obviously they cannot be in Hospital with us or visit us due to COVID protocols. Our hospital stay could have been lonely and scary, but I strongly believe it was 7 East staff from the CNA’s to the Nurses, Charge Nurses, Day shift, Night Shift. and housekeeping that made the difference. they all work together for their greater care of each individual patient. The staff helped each other with no resentments, they respected one another. That type of comradery that reflects on their patients care.“We’re in this together.” attitude. We still have a long journey ahead of us with future procedures, and rehap, but I am confident that the LORD sent us to McAllen Medical South Texas Health Systems for these purposes. Thank you to each of you for being a part of this challenging journey and helping my husband and I cope with this life altering medical condition with dignity and compassion. We started keeping a list of names of each and every one of the nursing and CNA staff, and sending thank you notes, but the list grew and grew and pretty soon we realized that it was pretty much the entire 7 East floor.Thank you, you were tolerant and so patient with all my note taking and my husbands’ questions. Your outstanding care – so lovingly given – was one of the biggest parts of his healing. We found this kindness and compassion is prevalent throughout 7 East, Cafeteria, and housekeeping services. Not in any order and we don’t know everyone’s last name.Thank you,Scott Stewart -- Night Nurse 3rd floor or 5th floorHelen – Night Nurse 5 EastTony A –Day Nurse 7EastBilly – Travel Night Nurse 7EastKay – Night Nurse 7EastAnahi – Day Nurse 7EastCynthia – Day Nurse 7EastMichael – Night Nurse 7EastElla – Night Nurse 7EastGina – Night Nurse 7EastKethryn – Day Nurse 7EastEra – Day Nurse 7EastPerla – Night Nurse 7 EastBing – Day Nurse 7EastElvis – Night CNA 7EastPatrick Martinez – Night CNA 7EastIris Berdin – Day CNA 7EastRicky Garcia – Day CNA 7EastCarmen – Day CNA 7EastZaira – Night CAN 7 EastRuby – Day Nurse 5 EastLorena – Day Nurse 5 EastMayra De Leon - Day Nurse 5 EastIda – Charge Nurse 7EastDiana – Patient Advocate 7EastNathaniel – the entire HospitalDoctor Marek – OncologistDoctor Hussain – Neurosurgeon surgeonDoctor De La Cruz – CardiologistAll these health care givers directly Impacted my life when I needed the most. No medicineNo treatmentDoctor asked me 2 questionsBlood pressure testNo diagnosisBill: $2,500Ask for an itemized bill, they will stall until a certain time passes where they just no longer have those records. They then refuse to give you the itemized bill.Shady as hell.
WARNING!!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC!!!!!Last night I witnessed the worst treatment a patient could receive in a emergency room/clinic in the US. My sister-in-law was transported by ambulance to this place and expressed to nurse she was having chest pain, has Covid and had fainted at home. She was told she had a blood clot in her lung, then she was told by nurse she was Phsycologically crazy then walked out of room, ignoring her while she was talking. I never met or was evaluated by a Dr. After being there over 6 hours, nothing was done and was released, while still feeling ill. The sad part was that the dr and nurse were very unprofessional to the point that the nurse was cursing. I will make sure my sister in law files a complaint with the Texas Medical Board against dr, nurse and facility and lets hope to God nothing happens to her at home.
Big screen reads 10 min wait, 1 hour after i ask how much longer and their respond was she just got there and they where having a meeting. Breakfast and sharing their personal business came first then a pacient in pain waitting to get seen!?? The meeting sounded like a big party 😡😡😡 Great job A team !!
WOW! My son and I had a fantastic experience. I was so impressed with the service, the cleanliness of the building, and how quickly we were seen. From start to finish, everyone treated us with such kindness and most importantly they took great care of my child. Dr. Kramer was absolutely wonderful and patient with my child, Amanda, the charge nurse was equally as fantastic and Michelle, our x-ray tech was quick yet thorough . We are so lucky to have this level of service and care right in our neighborhood. Thank you all for going above and beyond!
Found myself having to go to the ER and didn’t want to actually go to the Hospital. This location was very fast. Everyone was very attentive and respectful. Nurses Noe and Roel were very nice and helpful and Dr Candanosa was very thorough. This is location is fully equipped even with CT scan capability. Very thankful for the care I received.
Told nurse evelyn that I usually have trouble drawing blood and to use a small needle. She told me the needle was the smallest they had and then ruptured two of my veins. After that she used a smaller needle and there was no issue.During the proceedure she gaslighted me telling me that I should have let her know (which I did) and that it wasnt her fault because my veins were super thin. Please listen to the patient next time
My gf came to get checked on something personal and it took over 2 hours for the results to come in and get prescription pills to be made, when i walked to check on how long it was gonna take the people in the front were laughing and having a good time. When i asked whats taking so long they panicked and responded with oh its right here and some little short Korean lady rushed to the back with the already ready prescription. Unprofessional, waste of time. Youd be better going any other ER or hospitol.. Purely horrible!
I am really amazed with the high level of patient care. My son has ADHD and is not one to stay sitting down especially without his medication, but the staff was great with him and made the overall experience a breeze. Rebecca and Alfredo helped out so much. We had a room almost immediately. We saw Dr. Carter she assessed my son with care and very friendly. My son felt at home.
‼️ DO NOT GO HERE . my sister was treated horribly! Left alone unable to breathe. And she was about to get discharged with just medicine. Was never put on oxygen until a nurse had to go and tell the doctor to ! Just horribly !! How is a doctor mot able to tell when a patient is unable to breathe!!!!!
Recently I had to call 911 for my diabetic father after his glucose level was dangerously low when I found him. I asked the EMS if they felt comfortable taking him to this STHS free standing ER. EMS felt confident this free standing ER facility was more than capable of giving my father excellent care. EMS was 100% correct. My father was tended to immediately.I am a retired trauma surgical nurse, 23 years of trauma surgical care experience and Coordinator of Trauma Surgical Services in Corpus Christi, TX. I have seen ERs at their best and worst, my father’s nurse Lazaro was friendly, calm and knowledgeable. I was instantly at ease answering his questions. Dr. Judy Rivas came into the room very quickly, Dr. Rivas’ calm friendly demeanor put me at ease as well. She patiently allowed me time to give her my father’s medical history never interrupting.Dr. Rivas and Lazaro made sure my mother and I were well informed, explaining their care plan to us as diagnostic results progressed. When my aunt collapsed a few months back she was brought to this same facility and received excellent care as well.I have always been supportive of hospital sponsored free standing ER facilities. This free standing ER is a true hidden diamond on McColl near Trenton Rd. I hope future patients/family members willl give this facility a chance to prove they have everything needed to do diagnostic testing, treatment and if needed, will quickly transport patients to a STHS hospital for more aggressive/prolonged patient care.
I went in because my daughter had fever, the nurse Rusty was so rude. They have a scale for infants well he wanted to take her weight on the adult scale😡. I told him no and he started giving me attitude, and making face. Like if I needed that, I was worried about my daughter and then Rusty making faces he made me so uncomfortable. He asked how much medication I had giving her and I told him 5ml he looked at me like if i was uneducated and didnt know what i was talking about. Horrible!! ON ANOTHER NOTE DR ESQUIVEL WAS very nice and explained everything to me.
Awful experience. My husband went in with head swelling and pain. The Dr told him it was just the shape of his head and that he “didn’t want to spend money on tests and scans” since it was just the shape of his head. Went to the hospital right after for them to say it was an infection in his head. They could see and feel how swollen his head was and were disturbed that the Dr here did not.
Went in for pain... had unnecessary tests done and never got treated for my pain, not even a Tylenol was given to me or any other measures to alleviate my pain. I was discharged with the same amount of pain I went in with. Yet, they didn’t forget to charge me before leaving.
Since when are you not allowed to go in when your father is in pain and 80 yrs old with Alzheimers and vascular dementia? Ridiculous. I understand the virus protocol but when u have someone with that disease and they are not able to answer their own questions how can they get the adequate treatment? And nobody to talk to that can help me. Wow. Horrible
Best service i have ever had in an emergency service diagonsed my child quickly and properly within an hour my child was feeling better and we were our way .very friendly ,high manners ,perfect, felt welcome and gave me all correct medication with two days my child is totally back to normal
Worse experience ever, ran all these unnecessary tests, but never got the resultsAll staff attending one client for 4 hours leaving us hanging on the side8 hours, do not recommend this place at all smh 😢Then refused to give us the medical records front desk guy super unprofessional.

2022-08-21My experience was very pleasant and quick! Beginning with the front desk efficiency and courtesy. The nurse that came to get me “Liz” was super nice and explained the process that was going to take place once I was to see the doctor. Dr. Bey was a breath of fresh air in comparison to most doctors who do not bother with courtesy or eye contact. He explained everything thoroughly and the process did not feel rushed or like I was a bother to be seen. I would definitely recommend visiting this emergency hospital.

2022-04-10The staff was very rude since the moment I walked in. While in the exam room they never gave any updates or even told us what it was that we were waiting for. A nurse walked in to grab something and I asked how much longer and she waved her hand and said they were too busy with other patients. We called her in a asked again and said they had a patient in a matter or life or death so the doctor couldn’t come right now. I’m not heartless and completely understand but no updates have been given on the results. They told me everything was fine and should be good to go 3 hours ago… still here with no information.

2022-07-31This is the best urgent care I have ever experienced. I’ve brought my mother here twice in the last two years, and there is hardly any wait time, and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. They are stellar in my opinion. I highly recommend taking your loved ones to South Texas Healty System’s ER Urgent care center.

2022-05-26Took my wife due to very high blood pressure. Overall it was a very good experience. The tech was very knowledgeable and skilled at his craft and the doctor gave insight and placed us more at ease, giving us better options going forward.

2022-04-06When my heart rate went to 144 a day after receiving my 4th covid shot, I was scared. When my out- of- state doctor told me to go to an ER, I chose this one due to its proximity to my home. Upon arrival nurse Shirley immediately put me at ease, and quickly prepared me for the necessary tests that were to come. shortly thereafter, Dr. BANK came in and was fantastic at listening to me, evaluating the issues and ordering the tests needed to diagnose the problem. Dr Bank has a wonderful bedside manner and I cant endorse him highly enough. If he was in private practice, I would definitely go to him.My only complaint was the clerk at the arrival desk, who was difficult to understand, and copied the information in my drivers license incorrectly, so my band had wrong information on it (birthday). Thanks to everyone for the great care!
