Be prepared to wait for a long time regardless of the situation. When our cat was attacked by two dogs about a year ago the receptionist was EXTREMELY rude and made us wait. As I type this I am currently still sitting in the parking lot waiting for them to come retrieve my animal. I have been here for 30 minutes now, signed all the papers.Your best bet (if your animal can make it) is drive to Lake Charles.
Easily the best doctors in Southeast Texas if not all of Texas. Ive been going to my regular vet for 15 years with all of my pets and an unfortunate incident caused me to bring a couple of them to the emergency clinic and their routine physical told me more about my pet then my regular vet has told me the entire time Ive gone to him. completely insane and the first Ive realized the difference in good and bad medicine for my dogs. I highly doubt Southeast Texas realizes their regular vet might be asleep at the wheel and not practicing current medicine.
Horrible. They let my cat, who urgently needed fluids, sit there for 6 hours before administering them. They also drew bloodwork before finally administering fluids. I hope he makes it. Unacceptable. My husband noticed that customers who agreed to the triage service system that ranges in cost from $700-$900 first got seen first, instead of prioritizing the individual animals based upon the urgency of their condition. It was easy to observe. He kept getting bumped back in line.Edit to add that my cat died in the car with me, while traveling to another vet.Why the they didnt administer fluids for 6 hours after they said he was seriously dehydrated is disturbing. Nearly $500 for this kind of clinical care was a ridiculous misfortune.
After speaking to my vet, I was advised to bring my dog to an emergency clinic. I brought my dog here. I showed up at 2:15pm, filled out my paperwork, they photo copied my wife’s DL, and it is 7:30pm now. For three of those hours I’ve.been told that my dog had one person in front of him. But now I just saw someone go in before me that got here after me, way after me. If you love your pet, find a clinic that cares.
We had to say goodbye to a family friend. The staff were very considerate and kind which is unbelievable. Idk how one doesnt totally become desensitized and numb. We celebrated the life of our pup and mourned her passing. We were given time to say goodbyes and be present to know she was not alone. Thank you all so much.
Very disappointed with the communication skills, I got here at 10:30pm here it is 2:30am and I have yet to know what’s going on with my dog other than they gave him a pain shot & was gonna do a X-ray. Sitting in this room for over a hour & a half listening to all the workers order food & talk amongst themselves while us patients are sitting here asking for questions. I then called while sitting in the room & the little girl who came in was rude. I honestly wouldn’t recommend coming back to this place unless you wanna stay the night.
As of right now I’ve been waiting almost 3 hours for them to even see my dog. My mother and I came here at 5:30pm and it’s currently 8:09pm. When we pulled up, they had us fill out a few papers and when we returned them they just said okay and told us to wait. There is also not a lot of people working there: one doctor about three nurse technicians. It’s honestly just horrible. They won’t even let you go in with your animals, you have to wait outside while your animal gets checked. It’s hot outside and my dog is scared due to the unfamiliar surroundings. This is horrible. Please think before you come here.
There is something wrong with my fur baby. She is my life. If she gets any worse this evening we will definitely be headed to Louisiana. After reading the reviews I wouldnt bring her here. Id probably be going to jail if I did. So sorry for all the people that were waiting for hours in their car not knowing what was going on with their babies inside. Zero ⭐s
I arrived at 7:20pm with a dog trembling in horrible pain and vomiting every few minutes. This was not an emergency to them and i was told to wait in my car. 3 hrs later at 10:30pm I was finally called to bring him to the door to do vitals. They returned him to me to wait to be called again for the actual exam. He was still not seen 2 hrs after that so I left. I was there waiting a total of 5 hours before i was fed up!! I drove all the way to the Animal ER in Humble, TX and was seen immediately. He has Acute Pancreatitis and very dehydrated, and suffered a ridiculous amount of time because someone who never looked at or put a hand on him said he wasnt critical upon arrival. AVOID THIS PLACE & make the drive to Humble. You will still make better time than going here and your pet will actually be seen!
These people are not there to save your pets, they are there for money. When they find out you dont have a thousand or more they want to put your animal to death. They tell you it is not going to survive and its best to end its suffering, when lot it is still eating and walking around. So glad my son did not fall for their guilt trip they put on him. I will tell every one about this horrible experience. They are horrible.
They had no urgency in helping me or my dog, said fill out paperwork and wait. Had 3 other people waiting in their vechs ahead of me, and in the 30 min. I was there filling out paperwork no one was helped, was told it would take 3 to 4 hrs before i was helped.. so i left and took dog to regular vet ( winnie vet)the next day, were they got my dog in and took great care of her and went beyond , by sending me videos of her at night to show me she was eating.. im glad i didnt wait the 3 to 4 hrs in my truck waiting for them to see my dog at the emergency vet ...
If I could give 0 stars I would. My dog was shot twice, and was brought to the emergency clinic at 8pm. It’s now currently 10:15pm and he hasn’t had any vitals or examination. He’s “waiting”. I’m out of state working and my wife is being forced to sit in the parking lot while pregnant with our 2 year old son, and not allowed to leave until they do the examination, with no idea how long it will be. If you can help it, DO NOT come to this vet.
The vet and vet techs were great. The receptionist was rude and had an attitude. They need to loosen COVID protocols. There have only been a handful of COVID cases in our area in 3 months. SET AEC has patients fill out paperwork in their vehicles. They also make you wait in your vehicle. When you go in to pay you are given a mask. All vets in our are now under normal operations. I appreciate the dedication of the vets and techs. I do not appreciate the attitude of the receptionist.
Only vet ER care in the Beaumont area. Had to wait 4 hrs for total visit. Also have to wait outside in your car since they’re still abiding by Covid restrictions. Told them Covid was over and that it’s ridiculous. Also had to call 4 times just to get an update once my pet was taken back. Overall they took care of m dog but for an emergency care center…took way too long. This area needs more places so people don’t have to wait so long. On the positive side, the Dr was very thorough & explained everything to me.
IF YOUR PET HAS AN EMERGENCY DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!!!!!! Our 15 month old pug has seizures and over the weekend he had continuous seizures. He sees his vet routinely and unfortunately they are not a emergency clinic, so we had to locate a 24-hour clinic to get immediate attention.our baby they not fall asleep for more than 5 minutes, without having a seizure. he was lethargic and at times lost temporary use of his muscles. Are regular vet prepared us for this. Were told if our baby ever came into cluster seizures this close together - immediate attention was required. We called the clinic twice before driving the hour to that location. We asked ahead of time if they were prepared to handle this type of medical condition. The reception person told us that they were absolutely prepared for this type of medical situation and encouraged us to come quickly. When we arrived, we were not even allowed past the front door, the lady who answered the door asked what was wrong, handed us a clipboard and said fill it out and she would be with us shortly. She turned closed the door locked it and returned back to her desk.No one else was in the clinic we waited a half hour in the parking lot. I was extremely angry that that person sitting behind the desk never even came back to check on us. Another car pulled up and we informed them of our experience with this uninterested emergency clinic. They were so discouraged as well.I hope this clinic closes in someone else opens that actually cares about pet owners and their pet needs!!!
I’ve been here for a little over 5 hours after the first 2 hours they took my dog in and after waiting for 2 hours with her inside I called to ask if they have looked at her yet and they said she was next in line another hour goes by and they still have not looked at her and it’s currently 12:15 AM and I have a hour drive home on top of having to be at work by 6 in the morning So to sum up this review if a turtle worked here they would be faster
I waited outside for three hours while my dog had seizures. Went in every 20-30 minutes and was continously told your next, i just need to check out these people well be with you in 10 minutes. My dog passed away without ever being looked at. The worst part was I went in one final time and thanked them and told them my dog had passed away and no longer needed their services. They then proceeded to call me 2 minutes later saying not to leave they were ready for my dog.
Got there on a Sunday and they were packed. Was told there would be a 3 to 4 hour wait, but my dog died while waiting. :( Theyre the only 24 hour emergency animal clinic in our area though, and they do require full payment at the time of service. Definitely recommend if youre in need of emergency care for your pet.
Took my dog there after she was attacked by another dog. Waited an hour after we got there for them to take her in, was told the doctor would look at her and call us shortly, when they new more. 3 hours later the doctor finally called us. They still had even looked at her, but would need x-rays and anesthetized for that so they could treat her and she would need to stay overnight. The estimate for everything was $1310 and $1500, we would need to pay the $1310 upfront and she need to be picked up by 7am. When I got there at 5:30am to pick her up the only thing they had done was to give some IV fluids, antibiotics and pain meds. The dog had still not been examined, x-rayed or any kind of treatment. The bill? $750 for basically kenneling her overnight.
Friday night my dog removed a cast from his leg. I wrapped it and brought him to this clinic. I do not believe the vet even looked at him. The tech added wrapping to what I had done. I specifically asked if they had removes all my wrapping as I was concerned it was to tight. I asked if they did X-rays to see if the bones were stable.I was told my wrapping was fine and then of course I was charged for the visit. I wish I would have demanded to see a doctor. Or demanded they remove my wrapping. WHY WOULD THEY NOT OFFER THE MOST BASIC OF CARE? HE BASICALLY JUST NEEDED FIRST AID!But, I was distracted by my car’s lights blinking then it died.Tuesday he returned to the vet that did surgery. The wrapping was way to tight and there is possible damage. He is being kept there under supervision, and I am waiting to here an update.I am outraged, and ashamed of myself. There was on very kind person there, who extended herself to us. But, I do not believe she had any impact on the care provided.I fear he may loose his leg. I fear for every desperate family that is forced to bring their loved one to this facility.
Dr. Catalina Thurston saved my little dog’s life last night. They were fantastically busy and the Good Doctor handled the problem perfectly. That DVM saved two other dogs with potentiall mortal wounds/infection at the same time.. several other people came in as well. Well done! From an old human ER nurse.. Cannot be done any better! Top Dog.. Best of the Best!
These people here are out to get your money and make up more excuses to keep your animal there and my parents had there cat there that my special needs nephew loved and first said ate bird, then said look like something hit him or shook him and hurt his back we asked to do surgery to clean everything out, then they come back say we think he can pass it , then just kept him there and kept telling price would go up so all in all 1700 dollars later the failed to tell us he had some kinda disease and had to put him down before he suffered any more..worst Place I ever seen to help a animal.sorry but true
This was the most disgusting vet service I have ever witnessed. My dog was sitting in pain for over 8 hours without as much as a phone call to let us know anything. Just stuck in the parking lot wondering. Every time I called, it was just she is next. I told them I did not trust them to even touch my dog and to bring her out to me immediately. Drove an hour to a different emergency vet. Absolutely Disgusting.
The vet tech was wonderful however I waited and fell asleep in my car for about 3 hours and they hasn’t gotten to my dog yet, who was in pain from being attacked. I wished someone would have called me to let me know that it was going to take a while. I could have gone home and come back.I also didn’t like the fact that everyone still had to wait outside and can’t go in unless they are paying or the doctor wants to see them. When i got there, there were only two cars and everyone sleeping in there cars. No one was inside. Maybe let 2-3 people at a time for now. I think if i had been inside, they would Dan get updated me a lot sooner than 3 hours later.I didn’t like Dr. Holland’s bedside manner. I also felt that she added extra labs and procedures that my dog didn’t need.I like the place but could be more organized or have more staff and I prefer to have a different doctor.
I am so impressed with Dr. Pitts, and her techs. They are treating Chipper with such kind loving hands and words.Thank you for helping our Chipper!!!Posting a pic of Chipper on a good day too.A before and after, if you will. Hopefully they figure out what is wrong with him.
They did what they could to save our puppy in the end which we appreciated, but we rushed out of the house and drove an hour to get there and both forgot our ids. I know thats our own fault but they will not accept any card payment without a DL which extended the time it took to get our pet in by about an hour. She died as I was walking up to the door to present the identification. They did put her on a ventilator but it was too late.
I was greatful to find out about them. My sweet baby Jack ingested some insecticide, there was no vet clinic in my area so we drove there. Dr Tillman was very thorough in his exam and I am comfortable he did the best that could be done. He is resting now and I will follow up with my vet. Great clinic.
The staff here were rude it took an hour to be waited on than they took a dead dog that drove up after us instead of a cat that might could be saved. After they took our cat in we waited again for another 30 minutes. I had to call and ask before they would tell me the cat was too sick to be saved. Than waited another hour before they brought my cat out so we could go home. We arrived at 10 pm and did not leave till midnight. I would never refer anyone to this vet.
Did not actually go here. I am basing this on a call I made to them. I had a pet I needed to bring to them to be examined after being attacked. I called in and asked if they were taking pets because it was at 8 pm. The lady on the phone said , “yes bring the pet in and we can do an evaluation and go from there depending on how much you want to pay.” I politely ended the phone call. It appeared to me that all they care about is money. I then proceeded to read the reviews online for this place. I’m glad I trusted my gut. Don’t go here!
If I could leave 0 stars I would. I called this place cause my vet told me to when my dog passed away at home. I set it up for cremation with paw print. I asked that lady REPEATEDLY, that includes the pay print right? She said yes everytime. Then they didnt even turn in the paper work for the paw print so the only thing I had left of my baby I dont even get. I cant have kids that dog was my life. They took what I had left away from me. I hope they all rot.
Clinic was suppose to open at 6:pm, opened at 6:30pmEmployees knew several cars waiting ,no concern shown,Waited in car in rain ,no notification came was not allowed to ask questionsAll they would say was they would call you in your vehicleDid not call for over 3 hours , took our phone number called wrong numberStill waiting in car in rain, employees rude not helpful at all.Employees completely non responsiveLong story short was a bad night for us with losing our petTreated like second hand citizens , do not use this clinic unless no other possibility
One of the worst experiences of my life. The most Incompetent staff Ive ever seen. Waited 6 hours to be seen! They kept saying soon or he is next. My dog went in there calm and when I got him back he was in really bad shape. I am disgusted with this place and really think they should be shut down. Thats how bad it is!
My wife and I cannot say enough good things about our experience today at Southeast Texas Animal Emergency Clinic. We took our 12 year old Maltese to them early this morning, after she started having health issues about 1:00am. Dr. Holland and the vet tech Amanda were amazing. They started by doing blood work and an ultrasound to try to determine what was going on. It was determined that due to old age, our little girl had developed serious heart problems. As a result, since her condition could not be treated, we had to put her to sleep. Both Dr. Holland and Amanda were very caring and compassionate during the entire time for my wife and I and Pinkie. We really appreciated their desire to determine exactly what was going on with Pinkie, so we could make informed decisions. We would not hesitate to use this clinic in the future and would recommend them to anyone needing care for their pets.
Late on a very sad evening, we brought in our 11 year old pup. We were not ready to let him go, but he was ready. The clinic treated us with such care and concern. Their care for our pup was beyond compare. It was a busy night, but we were treated like the only ones in the building. They made a very difficult evening a bit easier.
My 10 lb dorkie had puppies about a month ago. This is the first I’ve ever dealt with a dog of mine having puppies, and boy I’m pretty sure I annoyed this company with my constant questions. They answered every one of my questions, helped me calm down, and made me feel more confident about handling what she was going through. At one point she developed Eclampsia and I actually had to go in at 3 am, and they were absolutely wonderful to both me and my dog. The vet broke everything down for me so I could understand and took the time to answer any questions I had. I can’t begin to explain how much relief they made me feel just knowing that they are there and can help if something goes wrong in the future. I will definitely be going here again and referring others as well. Thank you so much for helping me when I was terrified I would lose my baby. I am so incredibly thankful.
My 12 week kitten lost the feeling on his left side at 4am. So we rushed to the Clinic and at that time we was the only car there. I was there till 7:30am while 2 other cars came and went. They told me they was going to run several test however at the end they didn’t run any and they didn’t even successfully use a saline drip. They said they ran out of time before they closed. Again I was there at 4am. The vet called me and expressed her opinion on how it’s sad to have a sick kitten and how expensive it will be. She asked me if we wanted to talk about putting him down. That was out of the question (with a little googling I knew it was from his inner ear) so I took my kitten to another vet which they listened and did the tests that was addressed. 8 hours later my kitten has feeling on his left side and is playing with his toys again!
Unfortunately last night we had to bring our Boxer in after he was attacked by another dog and it did not turn out how we would have liked but they were so empathetic, kind, and caring as we had to make the difficult decision of putting him to sleep. They brought me tissue and allowed to spend time with him before he passed. Super great and honest staff! Would recommend to anyone
I would like to say thanks to the staff and doctors for taking such great care of my dalmatian puppy, Piper, when she broke out in hives last night. We had to take her twice because the first injection didnt have a lasting effect (this was predicted, and we had another plan in place with the doctor just in case)The doctor was extremely courteous, efficient, and above all, knowledgeable. She went into detail about everything with us, and you can tell that she is passionate about her work. In fact, all of them are! It was the middle of the night but we were treated with nothing but kindness, patience, and respect. The prices are very reasonable (I was surprised at how inexpensive it was for us, honestly), especially for an emergency center. The office is clean and odor free, they have a vending machine if youre going to be there a while, too. Overall, I am very pleased and am so glad that THIS is the nearest emergency clinic to our home. We, of course, hope we dont have to go back, but we know that if we ever do - we wont be let down or disappointed. Thanks again from myself and Piper!
Brought my dog due to what we believed was parvo hadnt eaten anything in 3 days set outside for almost an hour and a half some other guy pulled up with a dog same symptoms and they put his dog before mine try to tell me that the other dog was more critical than mine which was not true the other dog was running around in the parking. Just didnt see where that was fair. I feel like it was because we are on a budget on what I could spend on my dog.
People please remember this place is an EMERGENCY clinic. Think of it like an emergency room but for your pet. You might experience a long wait as it is based on the most critical are seen first, so others maybe seen before you even though you have been waiting longer. As for the prices, honestly the only thing that is a little bit more than your regular vet is the exam fee, the cost for labs, x-rays, etc is about the same. It’s really not that much more either considering this place is open 365 days a year including when Fido eats the Thanksgiving turkey or your furbaby is hit by a car. These people handle everything! As for the payment policy it is plainly stated before you walk in the door. This clinic sees emergencies so more than likely it’s a once or twice deal-and is not your regular vet so they don’t know you from Adam. Emergencies are traumatic experiences and aren’t planned-but people need to realize that borrowing Mom’s credit card and the emergency clinic just needs to accept some random person on the phones word that it’s good isn’t sound business.I’m just being honest about things that people have written in reviews about this place that I don’t think is very accurate or fair. Just think about these things next time you go. I have been in there several times over the years. My experience is that everyone from the receptionist, vet techs, and doctors are very kind, they love animals and do their very best to have you and Fido out as soon as they can. They have always been very thoughtful, compassionate, and kind. Again having to bring your pet into the emergency clinic is stressful but they are here to help.
Last weekend, I took my 11 year old Lab mix here, afraid that he was dying of old age. He had quit eating and drinking. After a complete exam, including lab work and ex-rays, Dr. Holland determined that he had a UTI, prescribed medication, rehydrated him and sent him home with me the same day. Within two day, my Malley dog was back to his normal self! I can’t Thank Dr Holland enough for quickly diagnosing his illness and expertly finding a solution to bring my old dog back to excellent health.
As of right now because of Covid we have to walk up, ring doorbell and someone will assist us. I totally understand this. We had to wait a while in our truck because it was a busy night for them but wlomce the Vet asked us inside they explained everything thoroughly. They walked us through what was wrong with my pet. Everyone was very nice and helpful.
--ONLY GOOD IF YOUR PET IS LITERALLY DYING IN YOUR ARMS--Told them I did not approve x-rays or ultrasound, but they did so anyway. Said he needed surgery, but his normal vet said surgery was not even remotely necessary. They are money hungry and will perform unnecessary tasks simply to charge for them.
We are very grateful for the amazing Dr. Jewell and her precious staff. Our pit bull rescue had sudden, onset issues with vomiting clots of blood. I called and they said they would be waiting for us. They went right to work the minute we got there with assessing her . Lil Girl was very sick and my husband made the humane choice to let our fur baby go to heaven. Dr Jewell and her staff were so caring , kind and considerate. Could not have asked for a better staff in such a hard decision with a very much loved fur baby.
I brought my cat in, who was obviously in a state of emergency. He is only 3 yrs old and has FIC and was very blocked, most likely causing his kidneys to begin shutting down. He would barely keep his eyes open and had very shallow breathing. I was hysterical when they came and got him out of my car. After nearly an hour not hearing back on how he was doing while waiting in my car, the vet finally called to ask me some questions about him, let me know what was happening with him and expressing that she was very concerned. She told me a tech would call me shortly. Instead, two techs came out to my car, not to speak with me about him, but instead to go over and itemized estimate and told me I would have to pay $940 right then, mind you it’s nearly 1am, and they would only be keeping him overnight for about 5 hours. They told me I could apply for CareCredit, saying it was very simple/easy and I would know if I was approved immediately. After going online, calling multiple numbers, going through multiple online hoops, I still was not able to complete the process after over 30 min. I told my boyfriend to tell them I wanted to take him home, if he passed at least it would be somewhere he feels comfortable. This was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. After he told them, one of the techs convinced him to allow him to come speak with me. He came over and continued to badger me saying if I took my cat home, he would most likely die, etc. Then asked how much I could pay and said he’d take a new estimate to the vet to see if they could work with it. Acting as if I was buying a freaking car. Finally, I told my boyfriend to get my cat so we could take him home, once again. It took about 30 more minutes. Thankfully, he tripped through the night and this morning I dropped him off at my local vet, whom I adore, Spurlock Road, and they took him in immediately, giving me an update within the next 5 min. It seems my baby will have a fighting chance and all without any help from SET AEC. They only care about money. I can’t believe how they spoke to me and treated me, especially seeing how visibly broken up I was. DO NOT GO HERE.
We brought my in laws injured 16 year old dog to be put to sleep about 9:00 one night. The staff were all friendly and sympathetic. Dr. Jewell was wonderful. She took the time to find out about how wonderful of a dog Daisy is and she talked to Daisy the whole time in an effort to comfort her throughout the process. Her compassion made an awful situation bearable.
Stay far away from here. On Saturday our puppy began acting extremely sick. We believed she had eaten something dangerous and feared she had a blockage. Her behavior was extremely lethargic and almost unresponsive. My husband inquired about the chance of her having parvovirus. The vet told him that her wbc on her labs were normal and that the chances of her having parvovirus were out of the question. So they didn’t do a Parvo test, even though she displayed EVERY single symptom of Parvo, but they didn’t mind taking almost $600 from us.Fast foward to today, and she’s not doing well at all. I immediately brought her in to her normal vet this morning. They instantly asked about Parvo, and said that it wasn’t good to just go off of the lab work we had for her from Saturday. Within 10 minutes, we finally had a diagnosis of Parvovirus for our sweet puppy. Now she’ll have to be kept for days while her normal vet tries to treat her.If southeast Texas emergency animal clinic would’ve done a simple Parvo test (the first thing I think most vets would check) our puppy would’ve had a better fighting chance, and could’ve began treatment that night. You would think after requesting that much money to see her, they could’ve at least done that. And now, any other puppies that were there that night, have possibly been exposed to Parvovirus. Because I doubt they sanitized in a way that kills the virus afterwards since they didn’t even test her for it.So if you brought your dog on 2/6/21, please keep a close eye on them.
Early this morning my family made the difficult decision to put our 15 yr old yorkie down. She had been suffering from seizures and old age and we decided not to prolong her pain. Dr. Jewell and Charlotte, the tech/receptionist, were so kind and helpful during the entire process. The whole process took about an hour and they made it easy and comfortable for both us and our beloved pet.
My dog was hit by a vehicle and took her here . They cared for her immediately . I could tell they genuinely cared and where kind human beings . I’ve never lost someone close to me so my dog melody was my was whole world. And I couldn’t ask for a better team like they had hear . I will always remember there kindness ! Cant go wrong here
I am so glad I found them! I brought my cat because she has an abscess that has not been getting better in almost two months. She has gone to the vet multiple times for the same issue and the regular vet was closed. I was concerned about waiting one more night so I brought her in. I knew it would be expensive because they usually are, but they worked with me and my budget while still taking good care of my fur baby. Their facility is very clean but the waiting room is a little unwelcoming if you have a long wait. The staff was amazing, very friendly and understanding. They took the time to explain everything to me and made me feel at ease. Will definitely return in case of an emergency.
Was there last night(arrived at midnight). The lot was lit up. The people were very friendly. Dr. Jewel was great in explaining things and answering all my questions. Seemed to really listen when I was talking. Wasnt a rush you in, get your money and get you out kind of place. They really care about your pet as if it was theirs. Prices were about average for an open 24/7 emergency vet office, or even a little on the lower side.
I will never take a pet here again. Took cat to vet this week for uti on Tuesday. Cat was in pain again tonight. We took him here...they told us it would be discounted since we had visited a vet this week. They charged us full price. And could not do a urinalysis to check to see why my kitty didnt get better from previous vet visit or see if something was missed.
I called them at 6:20 am after my 6 month old puppy got bit by a copperhead. The person who answered the phone told me not to bother bringing him in as they are closing at 7 am, and wont treat him, and to just wait for my regular vet to open at 8 am. I did and was at my vet for a total of 20 min. All it took was 2 injections. I would have been there by 6:40 and out by 7 but they told me not to bring him. Very disappointing.
Not only did they charge me for an overnight stay after they didn’t get to my dog until the next morning at 6 am, the day shift attitude was absolutely awful. They did a horrible job at explaining our after care and refused to elaborate after I asked them to. If they weren’t the only emergency vet in our area, I don’t think I’d ever be back. Very disappointed in an already stressful situation.
Dr. Brown saw Chopper upon admission Friday evening late. Examined him and advised me on his treatment recommendation. I was informed of the schedule we would go by for the next 48 hours of medication, etc. I was able to pickup my Chopper Sunday morning and met with Dr Pitts upon his discharge. I was very impressed with the staff and doctors. I am thankful we have this resource available to us! Keep up the excellent work.
This place is a joke. Not only did they administer a sedative to my dog that I did not sign off on- they were extremely unprofessional, impatient, and off putting. Communication was terrible, and the experience overall was awful. If you love your animal, don’t take them here.
Took my moms dog to this place last night. The receptionist, Vicki, was nothing but rude from the moment we walked in. The doctor and her nurse Katie were very friendly and helped with all questions asked. When I went to check out, they wouldnt let me use my mothers card because she wasn’t present. Vicki replies with “we can’t take this, the card holder is not present” and slams the card back on the counter. I let her know that was the only form of payment and my mother could not leave work. She then replied with “well I don’t know what to tell you” in the rudest way possible. I had to give all pains meds back to check out and leave with my moms dog. Will not be back!
This is an outstanding Animal Hospital. The staff were professional, and they took excellent care of our dog. We did have to wait awhile, but it was because of other emergencies that kept coming in. I wouldve given a five star rating, but their waiting room seats were very hard-surfaced and that will not do when you have to wait as long as we did.... Guys, pad the chairs and Ill upgrade my rating!!!
The Staff was EXCEPTIONALLY KIND, the ACCOUNTING PERSON was also EXCEPTIONALLY KIND and explained all CHARGES slowly and IN GREAT DETAIL and Dr. Joy was VERY KIND and explained the ENTIRE PROCEDURE to me in TERMS that I could UNDERSTAND ‼️Even though it was MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE than I imagined, I will DEFINITELY TAKE GRETCHEN BACK to the SETAEC - NO QUESTION, if she needs EMERGENCY CARE AGAIN ‼️
I brought my 14 year old chiweiner in because she was in respiratory distress. She passed. When my son and I were leaving with her we were told what the bill due right then was. Since this was unexpected I had not brought anything. Papers got slammed down, eyes rolled, cussing under their breath. I cant even see straight because Ive lost my little girl. I told them Ill bring it in tomorrow. They tell (meif I dont bring it in tomorrow it goes straight to collections.! No condolences for our loss, just wheres their money. SMHRest in peace baby girl.
My dog ate half a bag of bittersweet chocolate. They took her in immediately to get treatment started. Save my girl’s life! Yes, it’s expensive. But it’s an ER for crying out loud! This is why we can now buy insurance. True, they won’t file it for you. Maybe some day that will be an option too! Very grateful in the end.
Dr. Taylor Pitts and her staff were amazing when my precious Foxy had to be euthanized as there was no hope for her recovery. Very kind and considerate to her and to me. It was an awful time but they wanted to be sure and made sure she didn’t suffer and was comfortable which is MOST important.
I took my pregnant cat who gave birth to 1 kitten here on july 3rd 7pm. She had passed the body of another kitten but not the head. The head was detached and was still inside her. They said they would do nothing to help save the mother with out $2,100-$2,600 in hand. They told us that we could take her home and see what happens. We talked and pleaded for hours and tried to figure something out while trying not to cry and breakdown. They have no vaule of life for anything, they only have value for money and not the health and welfare of any animals. My cats life is in danger with other kittens possibly still inside and just the head of another. They are sick greedy people who do not care, all they want is money and thats it.
Im giving one star because if I could give none I would. If you ever have to use this place I am so sorry. My husband and I came here and they refused to help our dog. She was having puppies and started having trouble and our vet was closed of course. It was 9:00 PM. We couldnt pay for the c section out of pocket because we arent made of money. So they refused to help us. So my dog died. Because this place refused to help her because they dont take payment plans as the woman rudely said to us. So I would NEVER recommend this horrible place to anyone.
My mother rushed her dying Chihuahua in here late the other night and they refused to help her until she had the 1500 cash in hand! Emergency is emergency regardless of money. That dog is my mothers world and she rushed around looking for help to deliver a litter of pups so her tinker wouldnt die. Thankfully 2 hours away she found a wonderful vet in Livingston who got up @3 am and worked with my mother and saved them all! Not all vets are greedy and all about money like this place!
Our 6 week old puppy was attacked by a pit bull. When we arrived she was given a starch iv to bring down her intracranial pressure and pain meds. We super appreciated how calm and understanding the staff was. The issue I have is that we were told that she would probably need imaging to verify the extent of her neurological damage and that euthanasia should be on the table due to her extensive Pain and the expectation of extensive neuro damage. The next day, she was still alive and we took her to a regular vet who said it was a simple soft tissue injury and she was pit on antibiotics and pain meds and shes as good as new now. I feel like we were told to say goodbye and put her to sleep based on financial issues and thats the contention we have with this veterinary hospital. But they were open and available when we needed them. Just a warning to other pet parents.
They only care about money. They have zero compassion for animals. They need to be shut down. They put our dog down and we wish now we would have just waited until the morning to bring her to our vet. We believe she could have made it through the night. I will never bring my animals here again and will tell anyone I know not to either.
DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!They wouldn’t help a dog simply because no one could pay for the treatment upfront. They were willing to put down a helpless animal because they could not get the money upfront and refused to help the dog. Terrible vet clinic. Do not bring your animals here. Wish I didn’t have to put any stars.
This is the absolute most unprofessional veterinary clinic I have ever had experience with. (And I imagine the people who work here will laugh and roll their eyes when they read this)Beware, if you personally do not have money do not come here.If you are having a friend help you don’t come here. They do not accept payments over the phone (company policy) even when you attempt to tell them the credit card company has approved the transaction and the credit company will call and confirm that with them to cover everyone’s butt.that is AWFUL BUSINESS. Who turns down money when someone is trying to do the right thing and pay.Stay away. Do not come here, it’s worth the drive to go somewhere else.Even though they’re are decently priced for an ER clinic, it’s not worth it. Their over the phone payment policy is such BS.
I had to take my 15 year old Saint Bernard to have him put to sleep on a Saturday. No other vet was open and my dog was in a good deal of pain and discomfort and was unable to even stand up. He had already lived well beyond his time. It was a very difficult decision to put him down, but the right one and Dr. Holland and the staff of the SETEX Emergency Clinic were so helpful and emotionally considerate. Dr Holland spent a long time with us and was very patient. I cannot thank them enough for helping with such a difficult decision and process. I highly recommend this business to anyone with a sick pet. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I believe my dog was misdiagnosed I was told she had a mild lung infection and was sent home with a 500 hundred dollar bill. My dog was in worse shape that night after seeing this emergency vet, and died less than 24 hours of seeing this vet. Keep your animals away from this place until they can find someone who is competent.I wish they had a place for no stars.
We have taken more than one of our fur babies here. We took our 14 1/2 year old lab last year and we knew it was time, he was too old to be put through testing and surgeries to see what was wrong. Theyre very caring and I absolutely love the receptionist. I took one of our Chihuahuas recently with stomach issues, I could hear her stomach making noises, after bloodwork didnt show pancreatitis, they did an xray and it didnt show it either. The diagnosis was she has ruptured disks in her back, gave her a shot and some pain meds...nothing for her stomach. That night her stomach started bothering her again, I gave her acidophilus ( probiotic), she finally went to sleep and woke up the next morning her normal self. We got a misdiagnosis for $550. Although they are very caring, my baby wasnt treated for what I took her for.
Should be (and will be) reported to the Texas veterinary control. My son took his severely wounded dog there, with a check from my wife (who cannot leave the house) and her credit card just in case. They called and said they wont accept either without her there, despite speaking to her and her offering all types of identification (and we are in the phone book). They don’t give a damn about the animals, just in it for the money. Worst type of Doctor there is. Will not take a diseased rat to them
My cat, Rebel was attacked by a pit bull 5 years ago. The #1 priority was money. They wanted a credit card RIGHT NOW for a $1500 as a deposit. The vet told me since my cat was 10 years old, I should consider putting him down. Rebel survived, is now 15 years old and going strong. God forbid you ever have to use this place.
Nice to have Availability to help, most staff very friendly (However if its after hours and their equipment used for processing payment, decines your CC, they want their full estimate (mine happen to be $2,077.00) my daily withdrawal limits are $600.00 each card,we have 2 on our account ) Now we are talking this is 7pm Sunday Night..So we offer to go to atm, bring back $1200.00 ,then after midnight being them the remainder. .Lady taking payments says she cant do that, after speaking with a Supervisor, they agree, yet tell us we cannot leave until the receive the full estimate. Mind u my German Shepherd (My Bestie) was hit by a 4x4 Ford Diesel, needed surgery (which they never felt comfortable to preform, even after receiving the full estimate and us sitting at their facility for 5 hours .They did keep my Bestie stable til 7am the next morning. (We were required to be there at 6 or 6:30 am) to transport her somewhere else, because they CLOSE at 7am Monday...Good & Bad, I say.
Worst clinic to be come too , Beaumont is a big city and they need better emergency clinic , un professional, un responsive , staff coming here for emergency my dog face is swollen and sitting here in the car last 2 hours , every one come after you some how they come before you, i guess depending who you know , horrible place they licensed should removed, i dont even give this place a star , specially hearing my accent and refuses the take of my dog
Omg there so expensive, they wanted 330 just to see her and run a blood test which her vet charges 80. For and than another 140 for medicine after I told them no to 2200. Dollars for over nite stay we on a fixed income and can not afford it. Will have to make payment to them I cant afford it
The staff was awesome...I went in with our family cat Blaze knowing the outcome would not be good they still took their time and were VERY compassionate about my 12yr olds feelings...I called so many times with questions afterwards (probably same one over an over lol) and everytime they were kind and even checked on how my daughter was doing...I can not Thank them enough three certain ladies who I pray have blessing after blessings too come (names I will have too get, I was in extreme anxiety mode this day) THANK YALL FOR EVERY THING YALL HAVE DONE FOR US🐾💕🐾

2022-09-04The services were pretty expensive but they are very forward about the cost from the start. And consult with you about every charge. The staff were EXTREMELY nice which is super beneficial when youre worried about your pet. The vet assistant was helpful in talking through my decision for care with me. They dont push you into spending unnecessary money and really try to provide only the necessary interventions to help with costs. Though I left with my pockets hurting I did leave relieved with the care my pet got and also relieved that he was going to be okay. Oh and there was a long wait but you are able to wait in your car or possibly drop off the pet. I think it depends on how emergent your pets situation is.

2022-04-18Idc if theyre a Emergency Vet or not, theyre ridiculous. I spent $418.25 just for vitals and a few test. They wanted a lot more money for a shot and some meds that would of helped him, which originally the guy told me was included in the $418.25 cost, but the lady said it wasnt, if I would of known that, I would of just waited until the next day to take him to his vet, which would of helped me on the cost of $1800, to Hospitlize him and give him fresh blood plasma. They wont let you go in the room with your pet, they make you sit outside in your vehicle. We got there around 9:59pm and didnt leave until 2:20am. They are just like regular Human hospitals, if you dont have the money, they let you suffer and die. I ended up having to have him put to rest the next evening at his Vets office and pay $215.75 for Cremation and a Paw Print. RIP Yoda.

2022-06-19I brought my 14 year old dog in this morning at 1:15. Its now 4:09 and he hasnt even had his vitals taken. They literally told me I could goto lake Charles if I wasnt happy with their care. A non clinical employee told me he wasnt as critical as the other animals and wouldnt be seen until needed. She is NON CLINICAL and no one with a CLINICAL license has looked at him so how can they come to that conclusion???? My dog is clearly in pain and suffering and they dont care. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE YOUR PETS ANYWHERE BUT HERE. If I could give 0 stars I would.

2022-07-03Even though I was there for a very sad situation, the doctor and her staff were all amazing, not to mention very professional. Losing a pet after 13 to 14 years is never easy.💔 Thanks to everyone who gave me great comfort while putting my animal to sleep. You all took great care of her. She went peacefully. Godbless! 🙏😢

2022-03-25My 9lb puppy pulled stiches after being spayed. Just needed stiches. They wanted to keep her overnight, ( charge for that ) bloodwork, & countless unnecessary other things. They said they wouldnt have time till 8am the next morning. And they wanted $1100.00 to $1300.00.I told them to wrap her & I would take her to her Vet Monday. In what time it took them to wrap, they could have stiched. Paid $200 +It only took 45 minutes &$ 246.00 for another Vet.

2022-04-20My dog was attacked by 3 other dogs. He had serious injuries and we didnt have much money. The staff was nice and compassionate. They explained all of our options. We changed our minds a few times as we worked through everything. They did not get impatient with us. I hope I never have to go back here but if I do, I know my pet and the humans will be in good hands.

2022-06-20In November of 2020 I took in a very sick black stray kitten. He had a uri, was dehydrated, underweight, wasn’t eating, and smelled very badly. He was having issues breathing and I was very worried. I took him in on a Friday night/ Saturday morning and knew I couldn’t wait to take him to a vet on Monday. They were more than accommodating and helpful. Yes, I had to pay for the assessment and a fraction of what I’m sure they would have normally charged for the treatment but they helped him and me so much. It was worth every cent. I wish I could remember the name of the vet working that night but I know she was a woman. She was so kind and through. They cleaned him up (I had already given him a bath but they helped clean his airways), gave him some fluids, started him on medication, gave me medication to take home, and gave me advice on treatments. She asked me what my intention was with him and his story. She was going to advocate for his life but she didn’t have to. I knew this kitty had fight in him and I was going to fight with him. Her advice and intervention got us through the weekend and when I took him to the vet on Monday they agreed with what they had prescribed and done. He is now a very healthy, sweet, and large kitty thanks to them. I hope this gets back to the vet who helped us and I hope she knows how thankful we are. I would trust them with any emergency vet care needed.

2022-08-06Brought my dog in on a Wednesday night after eating something he shouldn’t. After a triage and x-ray it was decided to perform surgery. I felt like everyone there was very professional and showed genuine care for my dog. I have absolutely no complaints about the care or costs. My only “complaint” is the check in process. You are not allowed in the building until the dr has seen your animal. This puts you waiting outside or in your car on the side of the highway in the middle of the night. I find this inconvenient and unsafe. I felt uneasy about that process. I understand there’s a level of security that’s required when you are open overnight on the side of the highway in Beaumont, especially a vets office with drugs. But when you force animal owners to sit outside not knowing what’s going on it’s not ideal. The waiting room can be fortified in a way to allow people to safely wait for their pet while keeping crazy people out.

2022-07-16Do NOT recommend. I have been waiting 3 hours, I’m the car in 94 degree heat for my Guinea pig to be examined. Why can’t we go inside? I feel like I literally feel like I’m about to have a heat stroke. I see other people going in with their animals but we have to sit in the car? Makes no sense. But I’m pretty sure they’ll let me in to get their payment. I’m SURE of it. It’s not right.

2022-06-06If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They let my dog suffer by himself for hours. We couldnt be with him nor would they let us know anything. My dog died of internal injuries after being attacked by another dog. He suffered in a room by himself. When we were allowed to go back my son held him in his arms and my dog died gasping for air. So 5 hours of suffering. Please do NOT take your animals here unless you want it to suffer and die.
