Great Value Theater offering basic theatre concessions and Kernal Seasonings line of popcorn seasoning. They are in the process of upgrading seats to the new leather recliners which also feature an adjustable table. My only complaint is that only 4 of the 7 screens were being used when I visited last week.
An odd time to head back to theaters, but we were cautious and wore masks when not enjoying some pop corn. The facilities were clean and the staff was friendly and willing to help. For our particular viewing, the theater had few patrons ... you could pretty much sit anywhere you wanted.
I love this theater so much. Its super clean, the reclining chairs are awesome, the staff are friendly, and its inexpensive. The only thing I dont get is why its not packed every night. Go to the theater people! Streaming at home is not the same. This place is a neighborhood treasure.
Thought this place only play old movies. But search shows that latest 007 and Venom both play here. And the ticket is cheaper here. You get same recliner. Bought ticket on their website before going, printed it out at Kinkos at front door, bought popcorn, enjoyed movie! About 10 people in the room on Saturday afternoon 4:00 show.
Love this theater! Glad they have the Tuesday special still (only $5!).Big, comfy recliners. Projectors, screens, and sound are all great quality. (Though sometimes the HVAC is a little loud.)Staff is always good and both tickets and concessions are very affordable. You can even get beer and wine here, and there are a few additional food choices besides just popcorn and candy.
Private rental of a theater was Amazing! Our son celebrated his birthday with gaming and a movie at Southwest Theaters Lake Creek 7. Great communication with General Manager and corporate. Easy to reserve, the staff was extremely helpful on the day of the party and safety protocols in place due to Covid. Five stars! Already planning to reserve again! Love this place!
Theyre a great theater, loved the choices and the people. The new seats are very comfy and make it so sitting in the front row isnt a problem. Mostly we loved the prices, as we are always tight on money. We loved the chance to indulge and go out for a movie. Made us feel special. Now theyve gone to first run, we cant afford it. Ah well, fun while it lasted.
This theatre is amazing! They are taking any and every safe precaution to keep their guests and staff safe! They provide hand sanitizer for you and the theatre doors are open so you don’t have to touch any handles. The tickets are at a great price! You can go see brand new films like Tenet or throw backs like Back to The Future and Harry Potter! I would highly recommend going and I will definitely be back!
They have done an amazing job ensuring social distancing and a sanitary experience. I never felt as though we were at risk and we had a great time. They even used a sanitary wipe to take our credit card. Go to the movies again! Its safe. This will always be one of my favorite theaters in town.
Nice theater with upgrades to the recliner seats. Downside is the leg/foot does not extend when reclining. The over all experience is nice and good to have change in the theater. Price for movies raised to $5.00 adults, $3.00 children, but with the assigned seating and upgrades, its worth it. Food prices are a little steep, but what theater isnt, thats how the make up for the price of tickets. Better than average overall.
Great prices for a nice theater with large, comfortable full lounger seats, plenty of room from you to the person next to you so you dont feel crowded. Also served beer which was a bonus! I think it was revamped recently because the seats are super soft and in great condition. Overall, great theater for $4+ tickets.
Picture it, Austin 2020, in the midst of a pandemic we had not been to the movies in months. My wifes birthday coming up and me with no where to take her. Enter Southwest Theaters. During this time they are offering a special to rent any theater for any movie they have for $100 for up to 10 people. Luckily my wifes favorite movie is JAWS. We rented a theater for us and a few friends and let me tell you folks, it was excellent. It was very clearfrom the moment we walked in that Southwest Theaters were taking thepandemic very seriously. Our hands were sanitized on our way in andwe were given a glove for anything that we needed to interact with inthe common areas. After seeing how seriously the staff and management were taking this matter, it allowed us to relax and actually enjoy a great time at the movies. I cant thank yall enough and well seeyou again soon.
I liked it better a few years back when you could see older movies there for about 3 bucks. The reclining seats are ok, but still not super comfy, at least not for the length of the movie that we saw. The best thing about this theater is that it is very close to our house so we dont have deal with traffic issues.
I really enjoyed the theater. The chairs are very comfortable. Price for the ticket is cheap. Any food is about the same if not more than another movie theater. The staff also doesnt check the movie theaters so I had a group of teenagers and a parent with multiple kids (in a R rated film) that were talking throughout the movie. Definitely would be willing to go back.
This is my go to place. I try to come here once a week. Popcorn is amazing and movies are pretty recent for me. The manager guy is awesome and friendly, he even stayed open for us when we got home and realized we had dropped something at the movies. With his help we found it! I feel so comfortable when Im there!
This movie theater is amazing. I go there all the time with my family, because its so cheap, has really good quality food, and seats, plus, they show popular movies without having to fight for seats, or having to pay outrageous amounts. Its a great alternative to renting movies at home, yet getting the full movie theater experience at a low price.
This is such a fantastic movie theater. I live all the way in southwest Austin and I will gladly drive across town to go to this theater. The chairs are the best reclining chairs I have ever experienced. They have dual control! One to control the foot rest & back and one that tilts the whole chair (think similar to zero gravity chairs). This is great since you can adjust the chair to have perfect view of the screen.
For a $5 movie theater ($4 during matinees) this place is pretty dope! The floors arent covered in sticky residue like more expensive theaters are for one (looking at you Regal Metropolitan). I mean, really. This establishment is way cleaner than it has any right to be for a discount theater. They also have really comfy seats that recline nearly fully horizontally with expanding footrests. And their tickets are only $5! For fans of the harder beverages, they have a limited selection of adult refreshments here (beer and wine). No dinner food though, like the Violet Crown Cinema or the Alamo Drafthouses. Its just straight up popcorn, nachos, candy bars, and sodas. If you want to save some money and watch a movie in style, come check out this theater!
This theater is a great discount theater, it’s very clean and never too crowded during the matinee times. The prices increased this year which means it’s similar to discount nights at other movies that play newer movies. However I would recommend this to anyone that missed a movie that came out where the experience would be better in a theater. They also offer 3D viewing which is also discounted.
I cant say enough good things about this theatre, it really flies under the radar. I have been there several times and have always had a good experience. I grew up going to their related theatre in Victoria, British Columbia, so I was shocked to see it was related to this theatre. The theatre is very nice, has great seats and is never crowded. They played Star Wars as a new release and it was awesome. I am actually going to make an effort to attend this theatre as much as I can just because I want it to stick around.
The seats were so comfortable!!! Blown away it was a dollar theatre. I expected the seats to be old and gross and worn out and the floors to be sticky. Not at all, the seats were so comfy and they recline. The refreshments were still expensive for a dollar theatre but the popcorn hit the spot in that seat!! Will be back for sure.
I liked the leather seats, wished they reclined some though. The price was great, Expecially for a 3d movie. Overpriced for candy and drinks and popcorn, but what theater isnt. Love that the drinks are refillable no matter the size, most theaters only large are refillable for free. The theater is clean for the most part. Bathroom was smelly but hey its a bathroom. I live south so I would rather go here then drive to round rock. Over all a good place to go and get a theater experience cheap.
I havent been there in a while, but they now have the Luxury Loungers! The tickets prices are now $4 for a matinee, but the upgraded seats are completely worth it. Also, you now have to select your seats when you purchase your tickets. Best place to go to see second run movies.
Hands down the absolute best value in ALL Austin. Reclining seats that are as comfortable as Moviehouse eatery, but at less than half the cost. Screen is great quality as well and does not have the strict rules of the Alamo theater. Cannot say enough about this place!
Southwest theaters has done of the most comfortable recliners in the business. Concession process are very reasonable, $1.50 for a hot dog. They were a discount theater showing moves from $3 to $6.Now they show first run movies and the ticket prices are more in line with other movie houses. Kind of sad about that but Id rather go here as they are close to home and not at the mall or a giant mega theater.
Me and my children had so much fun when it had the affordable prices because we would go at least once a wk., I mean this was our favorite place to relax and watch a movie after a long heavy week, but now they charge regular theaters prices but what doesnt make sense to me is that they have 2 or 3 new releases and usually theyre not the best movies out there!!!I mean if youre charging regular ticket prices why not have all the new releases like any other theater,????
Loved it! This is a fantastic theater to go to! I can’t believe the prices are so low too!! Movies would have cost us around $13 a piece back home but I was able to see Crazy Rich Asians for $4.26-ish (or something close to that) and that is a steal! The only thing I would say is the concessions are expensive but hey, for tickets this cheap, it’s going to be the case.Still. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND this theater!
Last time I came here I was given a coupon for free popcorn. This coupon has NO expiration. Went in today, about a month after I got the coupon, and was told they were not accepting it anymore. This coupon was the reason I picked this theatre, and will not be back. If you can’t give your customers a free popcorn with an UNEXPIRED coupon then you don’t care about keeping customers.
Tried to charge me 4.50 for tap water. Cheap tickets but concession rips you off!! Never coming back. Might as well go to a better place for a few dollars more. 3 people standing around not doin anything. Asked for my popcorn with butter in middle. He said butter self serve. I said I dont care about self serve I want butter in middle. Red bearded fellow. You should be nicer. And another thing you pick your seats but you cant move if you are uncomfortable where you are. Because they only turn on the seat you pick. All empty seats they wont recliner!!! BS they hate enough employee s security around. Lol
This theater is great! 2$ matinees and $3 for evenings with a small up charge for 3D. The place is clean, the chairs are comfortable, the screens & audio are great--like any other theater except a quarter of the price! Plus, there are less previews before the film actually starts so you dont have to wait too long for your movie.
This cinema doesnt have the latest reclining sweating and the picture and sound isnt quite at the high end Cinemas levels but I can take my whole family to see a movie for about the price of a single ticket at the mainstream cinemas. I believe concessions are also a little cheaper, although still a rip-off. Being able to get a decent meal a few steps away at Jasons Deli is nice too. Overall I have not been disappointed going to this cinema.
We love coming here. The staff is always very nice. This last visit we saw the movie Glass in theatre 2. I think it was c5 and c6, but the seats were not working, and one was even stuck, and was very uncomfortable. I told one of the employees, and his response was that sometimes the wires get loose, and you just just have to wiggle them. So instead of helping us, he left us with that advice. This is the reason for the 4 star. Other than that we usually have a good experience, and popcorn is as always fresh.
Once a great second-run theater with affordable pricing for the family... Now, an overpriced first-run theater with matinee pricing more expensive than Cinemark or AMC. Yet, the building condition and auditoriums are clearly the quality of a second-run theatre. Nice reclining seating, but overcrowded single aisle auditoriums and mens bathrooms desperately in need of makeovers do not equal expensive tickets.
Very affordable theater. Food prices what youd expect, but the large drinks do have free refills. Oh, and $1 hot dogs! I love this place. Its especially appealing for anyone who wants to see a movie thats just come to dvd and doesnt want to spend $15-20 on buying it (or just missed it at the more expensive theaters).
We love this theatre & are frequent guests. Employees are friendly, price is great, seats are plenty comfortable. Only problem I have with the place is Theatre 7! Every time we watch a movie in there I leave with a terrible headache & stuffy nose. It smells like mold & is very prevalent when it rains! Wish they would really address this issue.
This place is better than the old Alamo draft house. everything is clean, the seats are comfortable, the screen is big and picture quality is sharp. Employees are nice and popcorn if delicious, they have hot dogs for $1 and they arent great, but they are as good as the ones on other theaters. The price is very low because they dont play the movies that just came out, but I gotta say its way better than cinemark or regal theaters. We just watched a movie that came out 1 month ago and it was $6 total for 2 evening tickets. I am definitely coming back to this theater.
So the tickets arent as cheap anymore BUT they upgraded their theater seats. I feel like Im at an expensive fancy movie theater and I paid $25 a ticket rather than $4-5. It gets chilly in the theater. I love to come in my hoodie and bring a small fleece blanket that I keep in my car for emergencies. The food I have tried is really great and worth the prices as well. The swivel tables accommodate my huge hips that cant get in and out of at Alamo Drafthouse which is so amazing. The chairs freaking recline with the feet up! And I get to choose where I sit beforehand just like Alamo Drafthouse. This is my new favorite theater and I wont go to any other unless I have to.
My last review was deleted right before I could post... so, long story short is that they converted to a full price theatre with a discount theatre quality. Its a real shame, because I went there for most of my movies I needed to see again. With a Cinamark Movie pass, and the great Alamo Drafthouse theatre nearby, theyve leapt into a market I already have far better options for. They arent up to par, and their prices are average at best. Its just sad and insulting to charge full price for a discount experience .
This place is a great deal and feels just as nice--if not better--than the full-fare theaters in town. I love that I get to butter my own popcorn, and the cinemas have top notch projectors and sound. Its about 10 miles north of where I live, but it is worth the trip. Very clean, friendly staff and you can choose from plenty of movies. This is becoming my new weekend wind down hangout.
Great Flix, good seats, cheap, satisfying. * Update from 6 months ago*: this is no longer a cheap second showing theater. It is a first run. Standard price if not a little cheaper than some with recliners. Still good but dropped a star because now where do we go for second showings?
Changes have been made and let me tell you.. they are not just good.... they are great!First... the seats have been upgraded. Be prepared for luxury seats that come with a personal table and cupholder attached. No need to share here. Bathrooms are always clean, snacks are reasonably priced, sound and picture quality are a thumbs up! Did I forget to mention... you can now choose your seat when you purchase your ticket! On another note... call for showtimes before heading their way. Online updates can be lagged.Edit: online movie times are now accurate and tix are purchased through a third party site.On a second note! The location has shifted the movies over to new releases. For now it is the best kept secret. So you didnt hear it from me.
To save money when you want to watch a movie this place is perfect. But... the seats are not as comfortable as in Cinemark or AMC and the angle is odd. You can see the persons head infront of you in the screen. Not a lot but still enough to bother me. Staff and selection of snacks is ok. I really love that Jasons Deli is next door.
I love going to the movies in theater, but I hate paying these outrageous prices now-a-days. Since the movies featured are a little older, the prices are easier to stomach. The food prices are still crazy despite being pretty standard offerings. This theater used to be an Alamo Draft house, but none of their upgrades remain. No beer, kitchen prepared food, or seat side service are available anymore. The staff keep it pretty clean and the people that frequent it are usually amicable.
2 yrs ago: Good alternative to regular movie theatresDec 16: Raises the prices a bit but okThe assigned seats are nice BUT a few times which I know the theatre has no control over Ive been yelled at and confronted from someone who though me or my party was in there seat and they were actually seated next to us and didnt count the seats right. Each time the staff handled it great.
It was an amazing place for families who couldnt afford to take their whole family to the movies, plus the snacks were reasonably priced. Now theyre charging regular priced tickets and its sad that what once was a fun place for low income families has become another pocket pincher.
This placed used to be a steal and could classify itself as a discount theater, however, for $10.50 for an evening movie, I dont think they can call themselves discount any longer. Really unfortunate that they had to go and change, we purposely waited until movies came to this theater so we could still have the movie theater experience, but at a decent price.
I went to this theater several times when it was an Alamo Drafthouse location and it was nothing special. A few weeks ago mywife and I caught a movie here and it was a night and day difference! The whole atmosphere felt classy and it was a laid back enjoyable evening. If youre in the mood for a bargain priced special viewing experience give Lake Creek 7 a try.
What a great theather. The films are digital and sound is great. They now have highend seating for a fraction of the normal price for this service. If you can hold out to see the best movies in a threater this is your place. They have also have crazy cheap hot dogs/$5 dollor combo deal and other things if you look close enough unless they have change that part. Kid friendly as well and best value theater in Austin TX.
Daytime showings are just $2 and evening movies are just $3! They have good hotdogs and a great selection of sodas that you can dispense yourself and you can also dispense your own butter! Make sure to get extra napkins because it can soak through the bag and onto your pants. Great little theater!
PRICE!PRICE!PRICE! people complaining about popcorn prices, my kid gets a snack pack for approx. $5.75 includes candy, popcorn and a drink. If you must eat while you watch the movie you can get that pack. My wife and I normally sneak a few pieces of the kids popcorn. The theater is leather/vinyl? perfect seating surface and clean. The seats recline just the right amount to see the screen and enjoy the movie. This is the only place I go now, I got tired of paying $12/ticket at the fancy places.
You know Im actually impressed with this dollar theatre. I expected much less from experience but the seats were nice and large, the popcorn tasted decent, and I had a good movie experience. I can easily see myself coming back to watch other movies that I dont want to pay top dollar for.
You know this is not a fancy place anymore since Southwest Theaters took it over from Alamo Drafthouse, but I like it. I think its great that you can go see a movie in the evening for $3 a person. And I dont mind waiting to see a movie that I like if I can pay that inexpensive a price for it. And I know the hot dogs arent great, but theyre only a dollar a piece. Pretty good deal.
I recently moved to Austin and thought Id. I have been to budget theaters, but none this nice. In fact I have been to regular theaters that were not this nice. For the price I,m not sure how anyone would expect more. The concessions are the same price as regular theaters.Very impressed.
Is it trying to close? I arrived at 10:28 pm on 08Aug18 for a 10:20 pm showing of Upgrade (didn’t care to see the trailers) and was turned away by an unsympathetic manager. Letting her know that I had traveled 18 minutes to get there made no impact. It’s too bad, I have been going to this theatre for 15 years and had really liked it. However, if they don’t allow you to actually see the movies, how will they make money? I’m very confused.Edit: Its nice to see that the theatre is trying to contact me to make things right. It appears that the poor customer service was just on site personnel that felt like closing early, not an owner related issue. Im adding a star back for now...
We went with some friends on Christmas Day. Had a little wait for tickets but everything else sent well. We had Great experience. Thanks for making a great day for us and our friends. Well be back. The price was certainly a reward for waiting to see our movie a few days after the crowds dwindled.
I was skeptical about trying this place, but Im so glad I did. This used to be the old Alamo draft house. The seats are amazing and comfy, the food is actually good and I like that I can catch a movie here that I missed the chance to view when it first came out. Ticket prices are awesome and its definitely one of my favorite theaters.
This is my official default. If you cant find me anywhere, this is where you look. Love this place!!, Its got a personal feel to it. Like its your own little spot. Im sure youre gonna feel the same way, promise! $1.50 all beef hotdogs! And good chilli for an extra ...$0.50 And now the have new recliners and lots of room to sprawl out!!! ***🎥***. UPDATE!: So now They have first run movies!! (EVEN BETTER!) And micro brewed from Stash IPA and more! HOMER SIMPSON DROOLING FACE....
This was the second dollar theater to open in the area, this is also the reason its so great. The other discount theater in Round Rock is dirty and poorly kept. With this discount theater you can see that someone actually tries to keep the place nice and clean, so it makes the 3$ admission totally worth it!
This theater plays recent releases and the price is always right. Whether its a cheap date night or a family outing this is a good destination to catch a film. The staff are quick and courteous, the facilities are clean and functional, and the seats are comfortable. The snack stand does develop a considerable wait during peak hours and you do pay movie theater prices for most items. Hot dogs are $1 however and ALL BEEF, BONUS!Pros: - Tickets under 5 Dollars, often 3.50 for a matinee- Dollar Hot Dogs!- Clean FacilitiesCon: Busy Snack Line at peak hours, please hire more snack attendants OR float other employees to snack stand at peak hours to open additional registers OR streamline snack purchase and fulfillment process.I mean, this is what cost a star in this review, for realzies, Im serious about my movie snacks and the process seems tedious. It would be one thing if the popcorn was exhausted and the ICEEs were slushing a new batch but it really seems like with a bit of thought the snack process could be quite faster. Now, I understand that there will be customers who arrive at the counter, unprepared to order, with dozens of questions that could make you question how they reasoned their way into your theater in the first place, and if this is the case (Habitually and prohibitively to the goal of snack fulfillment streamlining), please let me know and I will send my apologies and improved rating, POST HASTE.Also, please create a position of Snack Fulfillment Officer, Make America Great Again.O/
I love this place. I am so lucky to live up the street and i can walk there all the time. Very inexpensive, clean and they have $1 hotdogs!! Im not a big hotdog eater but when i go I seem to always get one (probably just because of the price) I go almost every weekend with my daughter, cheap and always a good time :)
This place is great for a discount theater. Its ACTUALLY clean. I feel like most discount theaters are covered in popcorn. Consessions are popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, pretzels, candy, sodas, and Icees. The 3-D glasses arent the best though so if you have some at home bring them along.
Whats not to like? Its not state of the art, but its only one step down. For $2 or $3, Im much more willing to gamble on a marginal movie, just to see an action film in a theater. For that price, you can even switch to a different movie if you dont like your first choice after 20 minutes.
I just visited this passed Saturday(3/11). I enjoyed it as my friends and I watched 2 movies. I felt so bad for the staff though. There was only one person at the ticket windows with a long line waiting and the poor concession staff seemed so flustered with only two of them working on a busy afternoon. Maybe they were short-staffed that day?
I hate movies to begin with so I don’t plan on paying a fortune to go see one. Hoeveer I will pay a fortune as long as I don’t have to deal with rats. Tonight there was a giant RAT scurrying up and down the side isle under the red lights! We immediately got up and told the only other 2 people and we all ran out screaming. The employees were extremely nonchalant and acted like this happens every other night. Manager refunded our tickets but that just isn’t enough for me to come back.
First time going to this location and by far worst movie experience Ive ever had! The theatre was EXTREMELY HOT!! Come to find out the A/C was broken in that theatre. Why in the world would you sit people in there without letting them know! I had 2 toddlers and 3 kids ranging in age 7-10. First time here and Last time for sure!!
Online showtimes are not correct.Just drove to the theater. Showtime online wasnt even posted at the theater. The movie didnt start for another two hours. I wont be wasting anymore time or gas driving to this theater. I went online. The showtimes are incorrect. I can read and use a computer. Perhaps you should check your website.
Its cheap, yes. But the service is bottom of the barrel. The ticket window person gave us tickets to the wrong movie. The food counter person asked us to wait while they went to talk to other employees. While we waited, the ticket people where sucking helium from a balloon and chasing each other around the lobby. The bathrooms were nasty. Dont think I will go back...

2022-02-08Love this movie theater! Great place to bring the whole family. They sell affordable concessions unlike other theatres. They have recliners as well. Such luxury! Its super clean and well maintained even if its a little old. This is a gem! One of the few places in Austin that is affordable to take the whole family and then some!

2022-06-01This is one of Austin’s best kept secrets!Older theatre vibe but with the comfort of the new ones! It’s never crowded and they have recliners! There are two buttons side by side if you want to fully recline, we didn’t catch that till halfway through our first movie.Did I mention it’s almost half the cost of a movie than the other cinemas?? Bargin!!!

2022-05-07Great prices, great staff, reclining seats and not as packed as other theaters on release weekends. This is the only place to get normal movie prices in austin but still has the luxury features I care about like the seats. Favorite location!

2022-06-14Saw Dr strange this evening. Our seats were covered in the previous guests popcorn. The seats we moved to were clean and fairly comfortable. Beyond that everything else was par. The popcorn we bought was ok, the drinks were cold and the candy was sweet...

2022-06-16Extremely clean and super comfortable. A lot better than I expected. It was big and spacious, and the seats looked brand new. My favorite movie theater experience by far.

2020-10-18So awesome! Upgraded theaters with the most comfy leather recliners ever. Super friendly staff and affordable movies. Clean and comfortable! Excellent way to spend a family afternoon. Support your local theater while we still have them.

2020-10-13We love this theater! We host an annual international film festival called Austin Spotlight. With covid restrictions in place, most theaters have been unresponsive -- not Southwest Lake Creek 7! They were incredibly accommodating. Our entire festival crowd were able to spread out & enjoy the screening safely & comfortably. Nathan secured the reservation for us & John ensured we had a smooth screening. We will definitely host with them in the future. Aside from the great customer service, they have upgraded to reclining seats & added tables. I highly recommend this theater!

2017-11-10Im frequent visitor, usually once a week. Super low prices, comfortable seats, perfectly fine quality screens & sound. Very little to complain about. They play almost all the major blockbusters, usually a couple months after the official release date. Some smaller films also get shown. Discount theaters can have a bad reputation for poor quality, but this one definitely defies those expectations. In all the years Ive been going, Ive only had one bad experience. When I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2, the sound volume was unusually low, and multiple people went out to notify the workers, but they didnt fix it. It was only one experience out of a hundred, so Ill forgive them for it.
