Staff were willing and able to fit my malnourished and flea-bitten poor stray kitten into the schedule the same day, which I am eternally grateful for. Charlotte and Dr. Liu were very kind to the kitten and to me, and were patient enough to answer all my questions. I have another cat who goes to this facility and they have taken great care of him in his critical urinary-tract situation. Their veterinary office is the nicest I’ve ever been in. It’s so relaxing to watch the fish in the cichlid aquarium, I love it. I really get the feeling that this office is well put together, but I think the reception could use an extra set hands to help with the inflow/outflow/phone calls/billing, etc. Julie was very good though and friendly along with helpful. I just wished I could jump in and help her for a little while! Anyways, highly recommended, give them a call and get your fur baby into good hands!
We brought here our cat Blue because he was blocked. He was at another hospital before, but we decided to try this place for the good reviews. They took care of him so quickly. The team that works there is amazing!I spoke with Aron and Dc. Delacey and they arw beyond amazing!!The doctor called me a couple times just to check on Blue, and that really made the difference between other places! He really showed is that they care about the animals. My cat had a new diet and they can text you a link where you can talk to them and order what you need, pay it and they will have that ready to pick up, super easy!I am so glad we found a place where I can trust with my babies!!Thank you guys!
Dr Benaryeh at Spicewood Cat Hopspital continues to be the most caring, knowledgeable and approachable doctor we have ever known, and being a lifetime cat owner that says a lot! All the staff has been kind, thorough, and helpful. Highly recommend this hospital, and doctor!
We have been taking our dogs to Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital for years, and even though we now live in South Austin we still make the trek up north. I am always impressed with their quality of treatment, the genuine care that the doctors and staff has for our pets, and the transparency with payments and treatment options. We have tried a number of other vets and Spicewood is hands-down our go-to.Heres a pic of our pups after their last visit, which we had to schedule at the very last minute since theyd eaten some grapes! We were able to be seen immediately and now they are good as new. We had tried calling a vet closer to us, and they gave us the run-around and told us they wouldnt be able to see us for the next couple of days. Poison acts fast! So happy to return to Spicewood. We and the pups thank you!
Ive been taking my sweet, sweet hound for 5+ years to Spicewood, and theyve been FANTASTIC the entire time (so much so, my husband switched his two dogs from the vet hed had since they were puppies over to Spicewoods after seeing how awesome they were with my doggo!). I cant say enough about how great the entire team is, and how friendly and knowledgeable they are as well. When my sweet Juniper was diagnosed with cancer, they were very reasonable and rational with my options, and didnt try to up-sell me, or give me any sort of run-around. Clearly, they wanted to do what was best for all of us, and they were very clear with all our options. Unfortunately, her cancer was terminal. Im so thankful that I was with able to be with her as she crossed the rainbow bridge, and Im even more thankful to have had Dr. Goldenberg & Dr. Wagners support. They handed an emotional and tough situation with grace and kindness Ill never forget. I would 100% recommend Spicewood Springs to anyone looking for high-quality veterinary care with a lot of love and kindness.
THE BEST VET HOSPITAL IN AUSTIN! DR. B ROCKS! Ive been taking my furbabies to them for over 20 years and LOVE THEM! Dr B is the most amazing vet! He is my go to and I admire and trust him implicitly! The whole staff is amazing, kind, caring and I know my babies are in the very best hands! Thank you SSAH! Love you guys!
I don’t live near this veterinarian office anymore but they always accommodate us if anything worrisome comes up on a weekend- and they treat my little Daisy with deep consideration and care. Staff is friendly and responsive. Doctors are highly professional, engaged and enthusiastic.Always a wonderful experience. Thank you!
Very kind staff! Dr. Crawford is AMAZING and so helpful each time we go. They take the time to answer all of questions and concers. Our dog (who is shy and timid) loves the staff, who are so patient and sweet towards him. Our first time here, we were able to get a last minute Saturday appointment when we first adopted our dog and appreciate all their hardwork ever since then. Best place you can take your fur babies!
The vets at Spicewood Springs always take great care of my diabetic Ruby. Thanks to them, she’s the picture of health after stabilizing her blood sugar! The waiting lobby is well-kept and clean, with a pretty fish tank to look at and complimentary snacks & drinks. Receptionists are always helpful and friendly as well. Thank you Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital!
Highly recommend! Very kind and attentive staff. We brought them three previously stray cats that we have adopted, including two one month old kittens, and they took great care of our kitties and were very generous with their time with us and their explanation of everything that needed to be done. The entire experience was above our expectations from the moment we walked in the door, looks like weve got a permanent vet for the new cats!
Beautiful new cat hospital at Mesa and Spicewood Springs. Very nice staff, immaculate rooms, very gentle with my calico Gigi. I got the blood test results the next day! No other non-cat animals around to scare your kitty. We were there on their first day open. I recommend them to all cat owners!!👍😊
I’m sad that we can’t go in yet with our fur babies but I felt like the staff was doing a good job handling my cats (one is aggressive). My girls are new patients, just transferred from an out of state clinic. The spicewood springs office called and got all their records sent over and the doctor reviewed them before giving me a call. I had appointments with two diffident doctors and both women were very kind and thoughtful. I feel comfortable bringing my girls back.
We simply love this place and completely trust the doctors here. Our doctor is Dr Bates and she is absolutely the best. We have been visiting her for our pets needs for more than 10 years and have never been disappointed. Our 10 year old dog had an emergency surgery on the week of the winter storm in February of this year. The power went out in the middle of her surgery. It started snowing on top of that leaving us unable to pick up our dog that day. I was so worried and we were so surprised when Dr Benaryeh showed up at our door that evening with Bonny all wrapped up in his arms. They managed to complete her surgery with back up generator and he took the effort of finding our address and driving in the snow just so Bonny could be with us. I think that itself speaks volumes on their level of dedication and love towards pets. We are indeed grateful for having them so close and being there for us. Thank you!
Everyone at Spicewood Animal Hospital is so friendly and always so helpful! They take great care of my dog and I feel comfortable bringing her there for anything. They are on top of appointment and vaccine reminders which I appreciate. I always have a positive experience with everyone at every visit. The vets are very knowledgeable. They go above and beyond. I highly recommend Spicewood Animal Hospital to anyone with a pet!
I’ve been taking my boy here since my last place fell apart, maybe 2.5 years ago. I’ve been very happy with them. The staff are friendly, their system works, and they treat my boy like family. I highly recommend Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a new vet practice.
Could not recommend more highly. All staff are personable and knowledgeable and welcoming; the sense of teamwork is evident. Best of all, Drs. spend quality time to discuss diagnosis/prognosis, and ensure were aware of all options available. In my lifetime as a pet owner, Ive found this practice to be a standout for exceptional quality of care.
I highly recommend Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital. Their vets and staff are the best and will care for your dog as if it were their own. I have never had a bad experience at this place.P.S.- I also recommend their boarding services. You can purchase the VIP suite which comes with cameras so you can watch your dogs and not stress when you are on vacation. They will also send you pictures to keep your mind at ease!
Our family of animals loves Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital. They care for our dogs and cats with respect and are always professional. Dr. Benaryeh in particular is fantastic and takes the time to explain all the options for my pets care. We also love Dr. Bates. We have continued to choose Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital over the past decade because they continually show that they genuinely care for my pets.
The veterinarians and staff here are so professional and helpful. Dr. Wagner takes care of our dog and Dr. Bates cares for our cat. They are both very knowledgeable and provide thorough assessments, advice, and information. Also, notable is that they are knowledgeable about pet nutrition and don’t just try to sell prescription kibble, which I have experienced at other veterinary clinics.
My various dogs and cats have been loyal and happy clients here since 2010. Dr Bates, Dr. B and all the others have never failed to give less than the BEST CARE for all the routines to the occasional emergencies. I drive from South Austin past dozens of other vets to get to Spicewood. Always great. Highly recommended.
Dr Sarah Crawford is always very attentive, thorough, and friendly. She always takes the time to connect with my dogs with a soothing voice and gentle touch before, during, and after the exams. She is clear about treatment options. The clinic is fully staffed with friendly people and is always very clean. They offer great clinic hours and do a great job of staying on schedule. I very highly recommend!
I have brought my dogs to Dr. Benaryeh and his staff for many years. I have always been very pleased with the quality of services they have rendered. Dr. Benaryeh is quite simply, an exceptional veterinarian. He is a keen diagnostician, an exemplary surgeon and a kind and caring human being. These qualities and leadership is reflected in his staff. As a human physician who did has an undergraduate degree in veterinary health care, I know quality when I see it. I love my pets, they are absolutely precious in my life. You can trust Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital with your fur babies. Period.
Despite getting my puppy fixed here, she is excited to enter the vets office. They take great care of her and the staff is so friendly and has there wonderful little dogs that my daughters love to pet and play with. They also have boarding and daycare here. Haven’t done the daycare, but the boarding was great. Also saves me from the worry about what happens when I am gone when the vet is literally in the office right next to the kennel.
Great doctors, great staff, clean facilities, and the entire operation is well organized. My pup has been a patient since she was a puppy, and theyve taken excellent care of her! Dr. Bates has performed two surgeries on my dog including spaying and a tooth extraction and they both went really well and she recovered very fast. I highly recommend this practice!
By far the best, most compassionate vet office I’ve experienced!!! Our schnau Bruce was having stomach issues and we were able to get an appointment the same day. The techs are so detail oriented and Dr. Wagner has been so helpful and kind. It’s especially nice that they can quote you the price before you make a decision. And they make sure you understand each part of the treatment plan. I’m honestly so grateful to this animal hospital! You can tell that the vet and the techs really care!
We havent been patients here very long, and I know the pandemic has been very difficult for everyone. However, I was really disappointed in a recent interaction here and we are moving vets because of it. Our cat had an appointment that happened to fall on the same day as our moving day. In blazing heat, I loaded her and our four kids into the car and made the trek to the clinic, which is across town from us. An accident on 183 brought us to a standstill, so I texted the clinic to let them know wed be late--got a reply saying fine, let us know when youre here. When we arrived twelve minutes late, we were told wed have to be a work-in. Fine, at that point Id agree to almost anything rather than having made a pointless trip. A few minutes later, they called me back to tell me that our appointment cost was $70 (I think thats right) but our work-in fee would be an additional $110, and was that okay. Um, no, NOT OKAY. Even after re-explaining that their system told me it would be fine AND the difficulties I was having getting there, the person who answered the phone just said, sorry... and just sat there. I let him know wed be changing practices and hung up the phone. Wed been commuting to SS because people rate it so highly, but since all anyone sees right now is their pet being carried inside any clinic, to be given no leeway on one late appointment just blew the customer experience score entirely.
Took my Westie in for severe allergies and recurring ear infections. Dr. Crawford was awesome. She provide top notch care for my 4-legged child and made him a happy pooch again. Additionally, Dr. Crawford provided me with great advise on practices to keep my dog free from allergy symptoms and answered every question I posed to her. She and the Vet Techs are great at Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital are great. Highly recommend.
One of our kitties sees Dr. Bates regularly and she is wonderful! I hadn’t moved our other cat to this vet because he’s super cantankerous. I kept him with a vet familiar with him but much further away. Today, he got sick and I couldn’t go that far. Spicewood springs took him as a drop off and took excellent care of him. I could tell he was loved and cared for even if he didn’t love them back. So grateful for Dr. Benaryeh for taking good care of my Stitch. I will be bringing Stitch in to this clinic from now on!
I recently purchased an AKC German Shepherd puppy and with no hesitation took her to Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital where I have taken all of my pets over the last 20 years. Dr. Benaryeh is one of the most compassionate veterinarians I know and he handles my pets as if they were his own. He is extremely knowledgeable and has provided excellent care to all of my animals over the years. He is devoted to his clients as are all of the veterinarians who work for him. The office staff is always, kind, courteous and helpful. They make each visit a joy!
Been taking my cat Nero here for 10+ years. Staff is always friendly and helpful and the doctors have always been very caring. Sarah has always been exceptionally helpful and Nero and I appreciate it! All follow ups and billing have always been straightforward and I trust their advice when it comes to treatment and nutrition. They recently got me hooked up with a nebulizer to help Nero with his sneezing/boogers. Extremely hopeful! I also like the free snacks and sodas :P oh, and their fish tank is super pretty!
My new puppy started to appear ill, and my regular vet wouldn’t see us. I was so upset because I know how quickly puppies can go downhill, so I called Spicewood and without hesitation they told me to bring the puppy in. The entire staff was so kind and professional, and called with updates for each step in the process. They quickly diagnosed my puppy and were able to start the treatment process. I’m so so grateful for them! Thank you!
Best veterinary hospital in North Austin! Dr. Crawford is not only an exceptional and trustworthy doctor but you can also see that she truly cares for the well being of your dog as if it was her own. Ive been to many places (not even worth naming them) where they always try to over charge you by recommending tests that your dog doesnt really need. This is not the case with Dr. Crawford or any other of the doctors in this practice. They always provide you with the best information and will make sure that your dog receives only whats truly needed.
There are a lot of choices for veterinarians in Austin, but Spicewood Springs is the best! Everyone there - from the amazing doctors to the vet techs to the folks at the front desk - are so friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. They always take the time to address all our concerns. Wish I could give more than 5 stars -every doc there is brilliant, compassionate, and amazing!
I began taking my many pets to NW Hills Pet Clinic in 1987. I subsequently followed my vet to the Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital and have been taking my dogs and cats to them for many years. SSAH and the people that work there are awesome and very caring individuals. The vets are thorough and informative. They are even willing to work my furbabies into their schedule when I have somewhat urgent concerns. They are always there for me and will be for you too!
Best vet Ive ever been to. Weve been taking our pups here for 7 years and even though we moved a bit further away, I still drive to take them. They love and take such great care of our anxious and high energy pointers. Im so thankful for them and cant recommend them more.
All the vets at Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital are great. Most recently I took our nervous Aussie rescue to see Dr. Goldenberg about a cut on his paw. She soothes him and took great care of him. She let him smell the bandage material before using it and had a staff member petting him the whole time. They even fashioned a rain proof cover for his paw to keep his bandage unsoiled. Very caring veterinarians and staff.
My dog needed immediate treatment and although I was a new client and the clinic was fully booked, Dr. Goldenberg and the staff were able to accommodate my little dog into their busy schedule.I want to thank Dr. Goldenberg for her help in treating my little dog. For a long time I didnt know how to help my dog and the two previous veterinarians I had didnt care about my pets health, but Dr. Goldenberg was able to very quickly diagnose her and give her the right treatment. My dog is already doing much better.Thank so, so much!
I have been using Dr Benaryeh and the group at Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital for 7 years. I love him! He is kind, caring and takes all the time you need to explain things. I haven’t used the whole group, but I would definitely recommend Dr. Goldenberg also! The front desk crew is polite and professional, and I wouldn’t take my fur babies anywhere else!
This clinic has no idea what they are doing. My dog of 14 years was very sick with a heart condition for a long time and a month before she died of congestive heart failure they gave her a “clean bill of health” changed vets immediately to Lakeway Veterinary Clinic and have never been happier. I would never recommend anybody to this clinic for complete lack of “ care”.In response to your questioning me as a client of yours, that’s even worse, I had been seeing you all for 14 years. Great place, obviously they “care” about their clientele enough to give crass responses to legitimate bad reviews. The name you will have on file is Suzanne Cowper, this is not a fake review.
I woke up one morning and found myself needing expert and speedy advice for my male marmoset, was fit into a busy schedule and was helped quickly upon arrival! I was also given upfront and honest advice even if it wasn’t what I wanted to hear for my fur baby. The service and staff was amazing and handled my little guy with care and quickly got him medicated and relieved from his illness to begin the healing process. The next day I received a call from Dr. B checking on my baby and giving further advice. I couldn’t be happier with the professionalism and care from this Animal Hospital in Austin Texas! It was worth the 2 hour drive.Mike & Tracy MorrisLa Vernia Tx
We’ve been bringing our dog here since she was a puppy and they’ve been so good to us. The facility is clean, doesn’t smell gross like most vet offices, and the people are extremely nice. It’s pricey - but it’s worth it to know that my girl is being taken care of by people that I trust. We love Dr. Benaryeh!
The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The two things that stand out most are their bed side manner and their commitment to their patients (furry and human alike). My dog is slow to warm up to strangers and was won over by receptionists, vet techs, vets, and kennel staff in our first visit. How well they treat her in the kennel or in the back when giving her shots, etc, is proven by her obvious trust in them. The good folks at Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital also kept my dog while she was very sick and I was out of state recently. Dr. Benaryeh called me three times a day to give updates on what tests/procedures they were trying and to let me know how she was doing. Thanks to their great care my dog was better and ready to come home when I got back, and thanks to their attentiveness I was able to sleep while away knowing I was up to date and my dog was in good hands.I cannot recommend this animal hospital enough.
Have always received great care and service here for both my cat, Kiki, and our small terrier Seiji. The staff is very knowledgeable and has always treated me and my pets with the utmost respect. Unlike some other clinics Ive been to, I never feel like Im being sold unnecessary/costly treatments or tests. Would recommend to anybody looking for quality animal care by a personable staff.
My dog usually goes to another vet that was closed for AC repairs. Spicewood took us in the same day and were pros and so helpful and friendly. The covid protocol was perfect too. You park in a numbered spot, call them and they come get your pet at your car. Its all very clear when you get there. Thanks again!
Switched to them when we adopted our dog that was heart worm positive - they have a relationship with the city to treat adopted dogs. Always had good service and their availability and hours are excellent. Weve had a number of procedures done here and have always been satisfied with the quality of care.
A clean, modern, friendly, eco-conscious, professional environment that provides amazing veterinary care for a quality price. Not to mention the complimentary amenities you just do not receive at other vet clinics to help soothe you no matter the state you are in. With every visit, appointment, and correspondence Ive had, Ive been shown nothing but patience and understanding. The team at Spicewood Springs is there to help not only your precious pets but is there to ensure they will find a way to accommodate your pets needs while keeping in mind and respecting the wishes of the family as a whole. I would recommend anyone to give Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital their services as they will reap the benefits of a hospital team that truly cares.
I started bringing my cats here about a year ago after my other vet retired. This is a very professionally run clinic, with intake, appo, and check-out all being extremely easy. I have cats with chronic health issues and they have really worked with me to try a work-in appo if one is sick. Appointment prices are reasonable as are shots. They read their emails (so many dont) and respond to calls promptly. Of course, everyone is a wonderful pet parent and loves all animals. Highly recommend.
I have used Spicewood Springs Animal Clinic every since I moved to Austin about 4 years ago. I was referred by my niece because when I had lived here a few days only, our golden retriever became ill and they agreed to see me immediately. This was an ongoing and somewhat mysterious ailment plaguing my dog and we had spent thousands of dollars trying to treat her. The vet I saw that day asked up to wait for a short time and eventually returned with an article that described her symptoms perfectly. When out dog tragically passed away, they were incredibly supportive and helped me eventually obtain another dog. I have been going there often, have seen all their vets and have always found them outstanding, kind, knowledgeable and helpful. They are very flexible, their office staff is wonderful and as a lifelong pet owner and lover, I can assure everyone that care provided by Spicewood Springs Animal Clinic is first class in every aspect.
Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital is wonderful! My dog needed emergency care and they made sure she was taken care of even though I didnt have an appointment. The office is very clean and the staff is great. They are friendly and knowledgeable. Dr.Benaryeh is one of the best veterinarians that I have seen (and I have been to a few). He really knows and cares about animals. I highly recommend Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital.
I love this place. The vets are terrific. Ive seen every one, and theyre incredibly professional, compassionate and great with Maggie. The vet techs and office staff are awesome, too. Even after I moved out of the neighborhood, we still drive back here because we have a great relationship and they know Maggie and her issues.
We have 3 furry family members in our house and our kids have their fur babies. We have the upmost confidence and trust in Dr. B. Dr. B is intelligent, caring and always up to date on current issues. It is a great feeling when you have confidence in the staff that are caring for your pets. As a conscientious pet owner, we greatly appreciate the follow up phone calls from the staff and doctors after every visit, it demonstrates their care and concern. As frequent flyers to this wonderful clinic, our family has the upmost confidence that our pets are getting the best care and attention.
I took my dog to Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital when she hurt her leg shortly after moving to Austin. Dr. Benaryeh, and all of the staff took amazing care of her. They were wonderful at following up after she had surgery. Whenever we go back they remember her health history and they take great care of her. We also had to board her when we went out of town unexpectedly and they kept her safe and happy. We are thrilled to have found Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital.
Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital is the best! Ive had cats all my life and visited vets all over the nation, but since moving to Austin I have taken my cats to Dr. Benaryeh at Spicewood Springs. Everyone here is friendly and helpful and I trust them implicitly with my pets. I lost one of my cats many years ago but my cat Huckleberry, who is a feral cat, is still with me, and I wouldnt take him any other place except this hospital. I highly recommend the vets and staff here!!!
Our dog has been going here for over 4 years. He has gotten excellent care. SSAH has been very responsive to our individual wants and needs. It is more expensive than other places, but the quality, ease, and flexibility of care has been so high we havent wanted to look elsewhere.
Our cat got sick totally out of the blue, and we were pretty freaked out. Spicewood Springs saw us the same day, and were so kind to our insane cat. She ended up having to go back again, but has made a full recovery. They gave us lots of options, treated her really well, and kept tabs on her recovery. I feel 100% confident taking our cat to them, and would recommend their services to any pet owner.
Dr Benaryeh is the most caring, attentive, thorough vet ever! He is so patient and takes all the time we need to answer questions and weigh options. He returns calls quickly. Our dog had the very best care he could have had with Dr B! Sadly, we had to put our sweet dog down recently and Dr B could not have been more sensitive, caring and patient while helping us make the decision and seeing it through with us to the end.Other great things about the practice in general:Easy to get an apptUsually on timeOn site kennelFriendly, helpful staff at all levelsReasonably priced
The staff and practitioners at spicewood springs animal hospital are phenomenal. The facilities are kept to the highest standards. Everything is always clean and inviting. Everyone there is exceptionally caring and skilled at their craft. I take all of my eight animals there and I do not and would not trust any other facility or practitioners. I have had very negative experiences at other places before discovering spicewood springs animal hospital. Now I will never go anywhere else for my pet care needs. A+ to the Nth degree.
I have taken 2 of my dogs and my cat to Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital, and I will continue to go back! I love everyone there, from the second you walk in the door. Extremely thoughtful, caring and knowledgeable. With all of the options these days for vets, I am glad that I made the right one and will continue to take all of my pets to see the doctors here.
We have a lot of pets, so we use a mobile vet for regular checkups. This year one of our cats needed a tooth extraction, so we contacted Spicewood Spring Animal Hospital. Dr.Benaryeh performed the surgery and thoroughly explained the procedure and results. He also talked to our other vet. It was a good experience and well definitely go back.
Spicewood Springs up until recent is not my normal vet but they are right by my office and I recently had to use them for an emergency. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly. The vet gave us his personal cell to use if we needed to reach him in the middle of the night. Very caring and listened to us! We are going to start using Spicewood Springs as our normal vet now.
Everybody here is on the ball, friendly and professional. They have standards in place for COVID-19. I love bringing Smudge here as theyre very aware that some treatments are more expensive than others. They talk over any diagnosis and possible treatment before they do anything. Its just an all around great place to bring your furbabies.
Love this place. I left my cat in the Pet hotel there few times and it went very well. They have very convenient hours to drop off and pick up your pet, very nice extra service as claw trimming and they can bathe your cat if you terrified to do it at home (cats can be evil 😈). They also can take photos of your pet and send it to you so you wont be worried too much. And personnel were always nice and courteous. Highly recommend it at least as a Pet hotel!
Ive taken all my animals to Spicewood Animal Hospital over the last couple of years (two dogs and one cat). Originally I came to this vet through a program to treat heartworm for one of my dogs payed for by the animal shelter from which she was adopted. My experience has been a little worse with every visit - every time I arrive for an appointment I can expect to finally be seen 20 minutes to one hour after my appointment time. They are also very expensive for basic services (like shots) compared to other vets. My most previous visit (today) I was seen 20 minutes after my appointment time (fast time for them), took one minute to finish the appointment, and they added an appointment fee to the bill for the already overpriced vaccine.I was thinking about rating this business 2 stars, but dropped it to one since I always leave feeling ripped off, and like my time was wasted. Will not return. I would advise others to find a better place, at least for routine services or exams.
I was not a previous client to Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital. I walked in Monday morning after Thanksgiving with a hurt and very ill pup. The staff greeted me with kindness, immediately put us in a room, and examined Mason as soon as they could (their schedule was full). Each step (medical and financial) were carefully explained to me, and the physical handling of Mason was with care and focus on his comfort. We had a happy ending to the ordeal (dont let your dog EVER eat a pork bone!) and I look forward ot visiting SSAH with all my pets for their well check visits!
We boarded our pup here last weekend. After a bad experience at a different boarding facility, I was nervous. After all, shes a member of the family. But I need not have worried. From the incredibly friendly staff to the great programs, it was perfect for her. And she came home happy and healthy. I will definitely use this place the next time we cant take her with us for the weekend!
Had an emergency with my dog, Dr. Benaryeh and Dr. Buel handled him with great care and expertise. Orchestrated referrals and overnight ER care. They even took my calls late at night. All the staff at Spicewood show extra care and attention to your furry family members and treat them like their own. I absolutely recommend this place for all your pets medical needs!
I have been taking my Bulldog Perriwrinkle to Spicewood Springs since she was a puppy and let me tell you she gets the BEST care here! The entire staff knows her/remembers her and she is always so excited to see them. There was one time where I had to take her into the after-hours emergency clinic for an allergic reaction and one of the Spicewood Springs Office Assistants/Techs was working and she instantly recognized Perriwrinkle, could tell something was wrong with her and took her back right away. I now live in South Austin, and I am still taking Perriwrinkle up to see them to this day!
We boarded our cats here while we were on vacation. Few places have cat boarding! It was great that they could offer this service. The cats got daily play time, access to the food at SAH for free and it cost us $20/day per cat. While we were on vacation we also got videos and photos of the cats playing. It was a really great experience.Id highly recommend them.
I moved my dogs care to this place after moving residences and so far I have been very pleased with them. They even took the time to look at a picture of my dogs stool while we were vacationing and he was experiencing some bowel irritation and got back to me timely with a possible diagnostic. Anyway - I would recommend this place based on the way Ive seen they treat their customers (both human and pets).
My chihuahua has been having some health problems for the past month and a half. Hes become quite the regular customer at Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital! Drs. Benaryeh and Goldenberg have taken the time to answer all my questions, and the staff regularly ask me how my dog is doing which is greatly appreciated.Edit May 2019: my poor little chihuahua died suddenly and unexpectedly three weeks ago at aged 3. I cannot overstate how much strength and compassion Dr. Benaryeh and his staff have given me. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I really learned, under the saddest of circumstances, how much they care for animals. There’s not a pet I will have as long as I live in Austin that I won’t take to them.
The folks at Spicewood Springs are professional and polite, the office is clean and the complimentary coffee first thing in the morning is really appreciated. But obviously the most important thing is that they are AMAZING with my two dogs – both in terms of the quality of care as well as the gentle manner with which they handle the animals… I have used Spicewood Springs for about the last 4 years for general care as well as occasional boarding and would not hesitate to enthusiastically endorse them.
First off, the doctors are great, secondly they follow up on test results and answer questions regarding those tests. Everything else about SSAH is top notch; they are always clean, the staff is friendly (even if you have a cat from hell) and dont push unnessesary tests on the animal.Anyone looking for a great vet, look no further!
Our family has been going to SSAH for over 15 years. Similar to all of the previous glowing reviews our customer experience has been nothing less than world-class. The staff is knowledgeable, sincere, empathetic, compassionate and consistently professional especially when it comes to the follow up.. I can go on forever with more superlatives but I think everone by now gets the message. Dr. B is very well respected throughout the Veterinary community and his network of specialists hes referred us to are top notch as well. What got me at hello was when Dr. B volunteered to come to our house to put our beloved Mia to sleep so we could minimize the stress and keep her as comfortable as possible in her last few hrs on earth. 2 years ago we moved to South Austin, but where do you think we still take our girls...yep SSAH cause they deserve it. Team SSAH rocks!
We will not be boarding our two dogs here again overnight. The first two times we boarded, we booked luxury suites but never had webcam access, and thought all was well. However, this time we were given the webcam passcode when we boarded, and it was enlightening.A luxury run theoretically came with more bathroom breaks and constant access to a covered patio. Reality: The door to my dogs patio was open maybe 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm. We dropped off at 10:30 am. Their kennel was dark, with no access outside, from 7 pm to 7:30 am. Saturday, again, the dog door was open 7:30-1 pm, and again 5-7 pm. Now heres the best part--the light was off and their dog door closed, with no one checking on them, from 7 pm to 8:30 am Sunday. 13.5 hours, no break. Our otherwise perfectly house trained dogs had an accident, of course, and Monday morning, their bedding smelled. Sunday night they went 7 pm to 7 am without a break or even access to their covered patio. Thank goodness we could pick them up at 7:30 am Monday--no Sunday pickups. We have two senior dogs, one with cushings disease and one with a heart murmur, so we thought a vets office would be the better option for them. After complaining, we learned that the reason for the long night break was that a neighbor had complained in the past so they changed hours. Thats fine, but the reality of nearly 14 hours without a bathroom break, boarded in a small room, without the dog door access the luxury run is supposed to include, is unacceptable. The practice group manager apologized, but that doesnt make it okay. The practice manager did call to apologize and offer a full refund, and said she would try to address our concerns, with most hope given to the issue of a soiled bed being left in my dogs room for 24 hours. The refund was appreciated, but until they get the issue resolved of the number of hours at night without a break solved, we will not be boarding here again overnight.
I love this place so hard. I first started going here because it was around the corner and super convenient. Then I got to know the staff and their genuine care for my animals and memory of who they are and what theyve been through (without a chart). Im now in grad school a couple states away but when Im home for an extended period of time my animals come with me and they still get their bi-annual check ups here because the service is unparalleled.
I brought my kitty in because he wasnt feeling well. I got him in as soon as possible and the doctor i saw was condescending, rude, and rushed. I dont appreciate being talked down to when i am trying to understand how to help my cat or being treated like I am wasting her time. The whole experience was very upsetting and I will be finding a new vet .
Spicewood AH is the best in Austin by far! We have used three different Austin vets over a 15-year period. Over the last five of those years and with three different Viszlas, they have helped us through the entire spectrum of petcare (i would say dog ownership but a Viszla owns its owner, not the other way around!).Dr. Benaryeh and team do a top-notch job, including the toughest part of all: saying goodbye to a beloved pet.Further, in this era of proud pricing in Austin, many Vets are escalating their prices. Im sure costs are up for all vets, so that is somewhat understandable, but SAH is definitely very fairly priced, and charges less than many comparable clinics.I have sent many friends and colleagues their way and will continue to do so.
We have been seeing Dr. Buel fol almost 20 years. She is tops in our book. Nobody even comes close. Knowledge and emotional connection are of critical importance when it comes to our pets and she has been outstanding in both..........Nothing but good things to say about her.Dave and Fran Werner
Milla Monster and Chalupa Bat ears love everybody here! I came in on the wrong day and they squeezed me in so I didnt have to come back! Thats customer service! As always they were fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable! And theyve NEVER tried or reccomended muzzling my girl!

2022-05-10I just moved here from out of state and needed a new vet. So far my experience with Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital has been great! They were able to get me in quickly for a new appointment and were so friendly when I visited. The vet and vet tech were so enthusiastic towards my dog, you could tell they really love what they do. Additionally, the front desk staff was very knowledgeable. As I was checking my out, another dog came in and immediately reacted to seeing my dog near the door and did what reactive dogs do: lunge and bark. The front desk staff calmly gave instruction to the other owner on where to go and diffused the situation before either of our pups could get into it. You could tell from how easily they handled the small interaction between our dogs that the front desk staff understand dog behavior well. This was just the spot I was looking for and if you are like me and want a vets office that cares and will remember your pet, this is the spot!

2022-05-11Ive been taking my dog and cat here for over 5 years, and have always had an amazing experience. When my dog had surgery, the owner kept me updated throughout the day. When they found potential issues - they didnt oversell me on anything, and suggested we wait and see how things develop (issue resolved itself in a few weeks). Their pricing has always been very reasonable. Theyre the best, hands down.

2022-03-27New cat hospital is amazing! Would definitely recommend. I dont know who had more anxiety going into this visit...my cat or me. But, the staff is amazing. All my anxiety went out the door the second I started the visit with the tech. The tech and vet were just wonderful and went above and beyond. My cat had an accident all over his carrier, and they made him feel better and just put me at ease. Also no crazy dogs to scare the cats!

2022-08-25All the vets here are great! The very best thing to me about spicewood springs animal hospital is that every time I’ve had an emergency they are able to work me in-that alone is worth its weight In gold!! They are caring and compassionate and over the years have made accommodations for me such as letting me bring my anxious dog in directly to a room without going through the lobby. The new cat hospital is beautiful and quiet for the kitties😊I’ve been going here for a decade and I trust these people with my babies❤️

2022-07-28I took my cat Nigel here for a pre-spay appointment and I was very impressed! The staff really cared about making my very scared cat comfortable. They were very thorough and informative and also went over our pricing options for the spay. The appointment was conducted fairly quickly which my cat appreciated. Excited to have found great care for Nigel!

2022-07-16My friend found a stray cat that was limping and needed help, I was trying to avoid a visit to an emergency vet (and paying a premium for it) and after calling 5 or 6 different vets, Spicewood Springs was nice enough to see us that day for an exam. Everyone there has been extremely nice and helpful, Kitty unfortunately had a severely broken leg and needed an amputation. They again were able to make room for him in the schedule and his surgeon at their cat hospital was wonderful. I love the fact that they have a separate cat hospital and makes for a much less stressful experience for him. He is healing fantastically and he is definitely a permanent patient here. I cant thank them enough!

2022-04-21This was the first time I have had today goodbye to my dog. They were very sweet, allowed us be by her side, and explained everything from what was going on to how the process would go. The doctor even let me stay by Stacie’s side as she was put to rest. My only regret is not moving to Austin sooner so they could be our vet. They care about each pet and the people who love them. Best vet I’ve ever been too.

2022-07-10I have been going to Spicewood Spring s Animal Hospital for years. Dr Bates is my Vet. She is so upbeat, smiling all the time & answers your questions & makes suggestions but no pressure as to what you should do.I have a cat & now that they have the cat hospital it really is an awesome addition to just treat & board the cats there. It was just a routine shot & Sterling is a little anxious but handles it well. He doesn’t have problems with the vet handling him or even a tech. But this tech who I did not get her name seem a little too confident while I was concerned about Sterling since he seemed more stressed than usual. I could hear him yowling in the room which I was not with him & it really in-nerved me that he was so upset because he doesn’t normally do that when being boarded or getting shots, exams. Sure he is a little anxious but I wasn’t pleased & wanted to know what was up. I may inquire. But that is the ONLY incident that has upset me. Otherwise stellar customer service, they go above & beyond. And they treat our pets like family!SR

2022-03-15Always so pleased with the professionalism and care my dog and I received each time I come to the clinic. The staff is thorough and careful which makes my visit so easy especially when my dog is sick and I’m worried. I really like Dr Goldenberg but I have been happy when I’ve seen some of the other doctor, too. My dog is so precious to me and trusting the people who take care of my dog is top priority for me. I strongly recommend Dr Goldenberg and Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital to anyone!

2022-07-18I could not write enough positive things about everyone at this practice! My cat had a urinary blockage and the clinic worked so quickly and compassionately to heal him. They were understanding of my budget and worked with me to save his life. He is doing great now and I am so thankful! Please give this place your business!
