Bronco Billy is a wise and welcoming, heartwarming Soul! He drove the truck I wanted to look at to San Marcos for me on his own accord, just because I was too busy to drive to Lockhart that day. We are loving our new Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn! Its our first Chrysler product, and so far we couldnt be more pleased with the performance, comfort and features in this truck.The purchase experience at Benny Boyd Lockhart was as good as it could be...we both hate buying vehicles! I had a Grand Cherokee, but I wanted something bigger, something uniquely specialized... I wanted a 3/4 ton Jeep 4x4 truck, with a Hemi. That’s when I learned about the Power Wagon... I tried with 6 other dealers... but, no doubt.. I received a better buy with Benny Boyd Lockheart!! Sterling, and his team took excellent care of me!
While traveling on holiday, my check battery light came on about 20 minutes away from Lockhart. Since I was traveling with my two young children, I decided to get my van checked right away. Tina was great! I wanted to rate this service center a 5; however, I left still needing repairs to my vehicle. After an inspection here I was told it was loose battery cable heads. The tightened them and told me to get them replaced as soon as I reached my destination. I decided to head back home instead of risking the trip and less than 5 minutes down the road, the light came back on. So, I paid $157 for a wrong diagnostic. I was told by another mechanic a quick stress test on the alternator would have shown it wasnt holding a charge.The other mechanic swapped out my alternator in less than an hour after my car cooled down. So about a three and a half hour wait. My check battery light resolved and I was on my way home. Im not sure how a dealership service center missed this diagnoses. My faith in large service centers is a little shaken to say the least. Im just glad someone caught it before it became a bigger financial issue.
Last week my husband and I purchased a new Ram truck from Steele in Lockhart. We have bought many vehicles in the past three decades and this was hands down the most pleasant experience. The manager, Paul Wendell, was absolutely wonderful in helping us secure the best deal possible. Ernest Potter was our salesman who answered all our questions and helped us through the final purchase preparation. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and very friendly. Finally, Willie the financial guy guided us through the paperwork and signing, never pressuring us to purchase something extra we didnt need. This is a dealership that does not stoop to pad the vehicle cost with dealer add-ons totalingthousands more. The price thats advertised is the selling price. If you want a great vehicle at a fair price from an honest and welcoming dealership, go see Paul and Ernest and Willie!
Update: first visit after Steele acquisitionFantastic service department been too Ram dealers in roughly 30 states and this service department is absolutely top notch! If you have a diesel truck this place is the real deal! Actually look forward to coming in Tina is still amazing and Sam is incredibly efficient and does a great job! All staff members very friendly, property was spotless! Really appreciate this location!Went for service visit and was very pleased friendly staff, clean, on time, work completed and explained thoroughly good people here Tina is great!
Everyone was courteous and helpful and friendly. Each person did their job very well. The facilities are excellent. This car and pickup and SUV agency is the best organized that I have seen. Traded in my van and bought a new jeep. I felt like all went well. Until it came to them paying out my old loan. It’s now been more than 30 days and they haven’t paid and I’m stuck making another payment on a car I don’t own anymore. If they had time to process and have me make a payment on the new car, they could have taken the time to process my trade in. I called last week and they assured me it would be paid by Friday. I asked what happened if it wasn’t, he assured me it would be. I called again Saturday as it didn’t pay and was again told they mailed it (only a week ago despite having had two full weeks prior to that) but salesman didn’t know much and was told someone would call me back. Needless to say that didn’t happen. We’ve bought several cars here but we won’t be back.
EDIT:I wrote a review of my experience in buying a vehicle with Steele Auto Group and after i was almost immediately contacted by the manager. I was impressed that they do care about reviews and are paying attention. The manager was very courteous and went through the review with me in detail and addressed all of my concerns.The original review is posted below.He had promised to make everything right and after speaking with him i can say that i do believe him. His prompt attention really does speak of his and Steeles character and their commitment to total customer satisfaction even after the sale.First reviewCould be happier. Purchased a 2018 Chevy Silverado from Steele in Lockhart Texas. After all the paperwork was signed and my trade in was accepted and $250 later I was presented with one key. I asked about a spare and key fobs and was told “ it came in like this”. I asked if I could get one and received no help. In fact , I was told that I had to purchase one to the tune of $210 dollars from another Steele dealership. It also came with half a tank of gas and the oil was at 70% life. The fabric inside was not cleaned as promised, just a quick and that’s it. It’s minor but when you purchase a vehicle that costs close to 30k , you kind of expect it to be nice.Also, the truck came with an amplifier that was burned up and did not work. I fully realize that it is a used truck but if your going to sell it with it I feel that it should work. I also asked about this and if I could get it repaired or replaced and I was told “ the guys here can’t do that”. I was also told that I would be receiving a coupon book for oil changes and service in a few days after the sale and after two weeks have yet to receive anything. My paper tags will expire in one month so I’m wondering what other disappointing surprises lay in store.I will not be buying another vehicle from Steele and can’t recommend them at this point. Maybe other locations are better but the one in Lockhart Texas left a very bad impression
I called Benny Boyd dealership and talked to Mike Ramirez. Told him what I was looking for and he called back a few minutes later with info on the used vehicle just as I had requested. The next day, I looked at it and took a test drive; loved it. I told Mike I couldnt make a decision until I looked at the cars my daughter had picked out for me in Austin. Two days later I came back and got the car I wanted to begin with. Did I mention its a 4 wheel drive? Everyone was vary professional and accommodating. Thank you Mike for great service.
Amazing car buying experience! I texted Mike about a car I found in their inventory and was immediately welcomed to go look at it! Car was clean and pulled up, ready for my viewing. I test drove it and basically told him what I had to work with. I didn’t have to do any negotiating!! These guys all worked together and made it happen with my trade in, budget and my bank. I’m seriously impressed as I have had bad experiences before and they out did themselves! I am glad that I have a great dealership now compared to my old!! If your looking to be treated properly... look no further! I came all the way from San Marcos to them!
The first time I went to Benny Boyd Lockhart, I met Tina in the service department. She was very friendly and helpful, and she worked to save us a significant amount of money on the repair that my Jeep needed. Later when we decided to buy a new Jeep, we worked with Crystal. She did a great job of helping us get exactly what we wanted. We also were helped by Sergio, and later we met Lauren. I have to say I am impressed. I contacted Benny Boyd in Lockhart about looking for a truck. I was linked up with a sales rep over the phone. We made an appointment for a few days later to meet in person. during the next few days I was contacted and talked to about options. Very attentive sales people. I came in with little to offer down, and just okay credit. I left with a new Ram 1500 that had 23 miles on it, a great warranty plus and engine warranty. They worked quickly and respectfully to get me into something I wanted. I will be returning to Benny Boyd Lockhart for my next truck.
I found a nice used car at the Lockhart location. Salespeople were responsive at first, and the overall sale was quick and painless (well done!).However, once the sale is done, I havent heard from them and they owe me the maintenance documents and warranty plan paperwork still.
Ernest was great however what the sales team offered for the trade in was the equivalent of me offering 5k for a 2019 ram. My experience was perfect all the way to the insult of an offer on the trade in. Id say down-payment with no trade in Ernest would be a great associate to help with. Wanna trade in a vehicle expect to have it labeled as rough condition for having dirt on the floor mats.
I had a great experience buying a Jeep from Benny Boyd. Mike Marshall knows anything and everything about Jeeps and is a great sales person. The process was smooth and quick. Finance person, Miller, was professional and didnt try to push any products on me. I would definitely recommend Benny Boyd if you are looking for a great deal on a Jeep.
Was blown away by the service the salesman provided me. He was nice, caring and found the perfect vehicle for me all before I even had to step in the dealership. I highly recommend checking this place out. If you get the service I got, you will not be disappointed I promise. Forgot his name but it was a young man with a pretty sweet flow going on and he had some pretty funny jokes in his emails. 10/10 would do business here again.
I had a great buying experience when I was looking to trade in my 2015 RAM 1500 for a new RAM 2500 truck. My salesman Sterling was very knowledgeable and responsive to my request for information. When I went into the dealership to complete the transaction I was pleased to see that everything was set up for my arrival. The General Manager, Paul, was very helpful with the negotiations and the whole experience was positive, except for one thing. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was due to my introduction to the service department. I was told to bring my new truck back in a few days to drop off for the install of the spray-in bedliner that was negotiated with my purchase. I was brought back to the service department along with my salesman to pick up a loaner vehicle for a day while the bedliner was installed. The service department employee was very rude and treated me like she was doing me a favor by allowing me to use one of their vehicles. She eventually told my salesman to get a vehicle from the used car fleet and she wasn’t going to give me a car from her service fleet. It was a polar opposite experience from my purchase a few days earlier and reminded me of being at the DMV to renew my license. I spoke with the General Manager about the experience and he apologized and said he would talk to this individual. Overall my experience was very good with Benny Boyd Lockhart, and its a shame that one employee left me with a bad impression. I will definitely purchase from Benny Boyd Lockhart in the future, but probably won’t visit their service department for my scheduled services.
I got a great deal on my new pickup. Pete, the salesman, was friendly, knowledgeable, and worked to find me the best vehicle with no pressure. I was introduced to the manager and highly rated service technician individuals, and other personnel. Everyone there made me feel welcome and valued as a customer. Great experience with Eric and the Benny Boyd team on ordering and purchasing a new truck. I had tried to work with closer dealers on ordering a new truck but they just wanted to sell me what they had in stock or as dealer orders, not what I wanted. No problem ordering at Benny Boyd Lockhart. This is my third order with the Benny Boyd group and fourth new vehicle purchased from them. Benny Boyd Lockhart continues on the great experiences I had with Benny Boyd Lampasas.

Will never buy another vehicle with them... staring with the sales people Pete Contreras, not Profesional at all. They really dont want to sell. I have NEVER experience sow terrible experience in a Dealer. Will not recommend sorry. I gave 1 star because i had to provided at least something.. but for my reality will be 0 🌟
I made the mistake of going to a different dealership at first, and had a bad experience. Came to Benny Boyd in Lockhart, and it was a Night and Day difference. Billy was excellent. Everyone I talked to listened to me, and took into account what I said. It was very low pressure, and I did not feel forced into anything. I will most definitely be coming back whenever I am in the market again for a new vehicle.
I needed to replace my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (purchased elsewhere, although having 112,000+ miles and having had NO problems-I love the Grand Cherokee!) with a new one to include some additional needed features. Russell Waters and Mike Marshall special ordered my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland just as I wanted (requesting a special interior color) without hesitation! Russell and Mike could not have been more prompt in their responses, attentive to my requests and specifically - courteous! Upon arrival to pick up my new vehicle, Crystal Hunter greeted us with a smile and was prepared to complete the purchase and provided instructions for features for which I was unfamiliar. I have made an appointment for a few minor tweaks on the vehicle. Tina in the Service Department has always been available to take my calls, knowledgeable in answering my questions and ready to assist with my requests. I live 80+ miles from Lockhart so had many dealerships to choose from and had telephoned and visited many of them - having encountered uninterested or too pushy salespeople. It is nice to know that there is a “TEAM” willing to assist when you need help - during what I’ve always felt was a frustrating time - in purchasing a vehicle. THANKS to the Lockhart - BENNY BOYD TEAM that made my new vehicle purchase a breeze! WE WILL BE BACK!
Benny Boyd is the best dealer Ive ever worked with, period... and Ive worked with at least 12 dealerships that I can think of (I buy too many vehicles). This is the second time Ive worked with Benny Boyd, but both times were awesome. I worked initially with Mike Marshall and also ended up working with Gavin Boyett in the process of purchasing a brand new Jeep Gladiator. Mike helped me order exactly what I wanted, gave me some details about trade, gave me timelines for the order, and updated me every time my Gladiator went to a different step in the build process. I have loved ever minute of working with Mike and Gavin and Benny Boyd in general. I never thought Id be able to say that about a dealership... but here we are. :)

We bought our Dodge Ram from Benny Boyd inJanuary of this year. We discovered an issue with the truck in March. We took the truck in to report the problem as soon as we discovered it. Benny Boyd employees promptly assisted us and had the problem resolved very quickly. We would like to thank everyone involved, Paul Windell, Mike Braendle (Service Mgr) and Tina in the service dept. We purchased the truck from Benny Boyd because they have a great reputation and they definitely proved that to be true. I told my sister about them and she purchased a vehicle also in May 2019. The team was very curtious in helping me find the right vehicle with all the bells and whistles that I wanted. I’ve been trying to buy a new Jeep Gladiator since released, however all the dealerships in my local area would not even try to negotiate pricing, per one of our SAJC members Mike Marshall “he is the man to see”! Mike, Paul, and Gavin were all working on the deal non stop from the moment I got there, no need to haggle as Mike was straight forward on his best deal that literally blew everyone else out of the water! Will definitely look forward to doing business with them again!
Had a great time was rushed aittle , but pulled away . Pretty aka Pedro gave me the time to decide. Told me my credit score was 5 points lower than try and raise the price . But once confronted it was straighten out. Just finance office trying to make money. Over all. My experience was Great . Nice salesman nice paperwork. Girl. So for service has been great also.

I had been looking for a truck for more than a month and no one was able to help me. I went to 10 different places and was turned down on each one of them. Then I went to Benny Boyd and met Eric Compean and Sergio de Hoyos and they said that they were going to do their best to help me. Honestly, I doubted they could help me until I got the call that I was approved! I cant thank Sergio, Eric and Benny Boyd for making this possible!They dont only treated me with respect and gave me hope, but they honored their word and gave me more than what I had asked. This was supposed to be a flawless couldnt find an issue used vehicle. One week later I found lots of scratches around my truck, funny how that happens. I hope there is no more surprises. Salesman was professional. >>>>> August; After I decided to take a trip to Colorado my right front tire decided to shake the entire truck. I took my truck to the ram dealer in Montrose Colorado, Where are they charged me for two new tires and the upper antifreeze hose was leaking to include the rear hub. Warranty covered the rear hub but the tires and hose costed me $1300.
Love the vehicle I bought. Im an unusual buyer. I only pay in full for vehicles. Dont believe in financing items that depreciate in value.Benny Boyd has a way to go in this Area. Im used to Docusign, wire transfer and pick up vehicle in a day or two. Took over a week with Benny Boyd.Working out of state, so asked them to mail plates here. They didnt. Sent them to my home address. Still waiting for them.Salesman didnt always keep his word on communication. That needs work. Keep your commitments.Overall though, happy with my purchase. It’s been awhile since I’ve had my vehicle serviced at the Lockhart Benny Boyd. But it’s never too late to write a good review. I was having issues replacing my 5.7 engine in my 09’ Challenger, and tommy from the red team was so very helpful. He went above and beyond in helping me and guiding me while I went through this nightmare. I highly recommend!!!
I let Crystal Hunter at Benny Boyd know what I wanted in a vehicle. It was not easy to find but she did it. We filled out the papers on Saturday and was going to come back on Tuesday because we didn’t have the down payment. The manager walked over and asked why we didn’t want to take it home that day and we told him about the money. He said he saw no reason for us to wait. So Crystal drove from Lockhart to Gonzales to get it for us and we had it that day. These people go the extra mile for you so stop in and talk to them about your next new vehicle. They don’t do the pushy tactics other places do either. When you walk in tell them I sent ya!
We purchased a jeep from salesman Billy he did not try to get us to pay more then what we wanted to in fax he beat our goal payment. Billy did not try to talk us into putting more down. We walked into Benny Boys and within 1 1/2 hours we signed on the jeep. Thank you again Billy

They didnt stop untill I was happy with my payment and that I had bought the truck. I had never seen two salesman work together like Pete Contreras and Kevin Armed did. Thank you both
UPDATE (Feb 2020): Id like to give a big THANK YOU to the General Manager, Sales Manager, and the service department for going the extra mile. I had an issue with my recently purchased vehicle. They fixed the problem as well as another issue that came up while they had it. They were under no obligation, but instead chose to do the right thing for a customer. This is a rare thing these days and it should be recognized.

Not very satified. The car was not cleaned up or vacumed. Took it back because the oil wasnt changed and all the levels were low on fluids. Had less of a half a tank of gas. Went to pick it up and the car still wasnt cleaned and the antifreeze was still low. I will never buy a car again that you pick from another dealer from the internet
I was in a huge pickle!! Yikes!! I drive a Chevrolet Camaro and I hit a rock the size of...well...TEXAS with my front right tire. I called them and told them of my dire predicament. I had two new tires on my car the very next day!! I HIGHLY recommend Benny Boyd of Lockhart! And thank you Tina for your kindness. You are an angel!

Took my car there because my car was having problems. They couldnt figure out the issue and just took a guess at the radiator. So far its working good, but instead of checking the check engine light and giving me a estimate to repair that problem since it was already there they just reset the light and now that it came back on they want me to take it back in if i want to get it diagnosed! Why? If it was already there yall should have just done it to give a estimate! It was as simple to just plug in the scanner and see the code and give a estimate to see if its something that needs to get done asap
Went there expecting the car that I had inquired about to be there. I was told by Salesman Pete Contreras that the vehicle was coming from Gonzales. I also informed him that on the internet it stated that the vehicle had 70,000 miles on it. On the actual photos of the vehicle t showed to have 92,000 miles on it. Pete told me that the vehicle had been sold and that it was traded back in but that the actual miles were 92,000 miles. He also said that the vehicle was a in-house finance vehicle and that it was worth 12,000.00 dollars. I told him that that particular vehicle is not worth that much. He said that some people will pay that much.
I want to thank Mike Marshall at Benny Boyd in Lockhart for helping my family and I find a great truck we needed. I know he had some GREAT deals on JEEPS, but we needed some extra towing capacity and daily work driver to get around. I get anxiety dealing with sales and financing, but Mike and his associates were great in making us feel like part of their extended dealership family. Although a bit of a drive for us, I will take our vehicles to Lockhart for all of our services thanks to how great they were. Now go buy a Jeep from him!
My personal opinion, I have very good experience firts time buy new car 12/2016 , before I tried local dealers on Austin for few months no one give me the deal and service Benny Boyd Bastrop offer, thats why I happy come back same dealer here on Lockhart ,please keep investing on customers service, very smart tactic for every type businesses , thanks J Salazar

2022-03-15I bought my truck here when it was Benny Boyd for 36,000 cash. About a year and a half later I had some electric issues. Steele service department change a brake rely and it didnt fix the problem. They recommended I pay for a full diagnostic and said that way it would guarantee they found the correct problem. They told me it was my computer system and that it would be about 6,000 to fix. I asked them if they were sure because thats a lot of money. They said the diagnostic guarantees that that is the problem. After they put in the new computer 9 days later my whole computer system was messed up nothing electrical worked. I called and told them and they said it doesnt sound like the computer it sounds like a new problem. Be very careful going here they dont stand behind their work or their diagnostic guarantee. While in the shop they were emailing saying they wanted to buy my truck which isnt for sale. Makes me feel like they didnt fix it right and tried to sell a computer system hoping Id sell my truck to them. Now they want me to pay to tow it to them and pay for another diagnostic.

2022-03-15We bought our truck here cash. After a year the brake lights werent working and kept showing the tow light and abs light. We took it to the service department and they put in a new brake rely I believe its called. It instantly didnt work and they called to tell us that we needed a diagnosis run that it would guarantee the problem and that way they could fix the correct problem. So, we paid for the diagnostic test. They told us it was the computer and it would be around 6,000 to fix. My husband asked if there was a guarantee that was what was wrong they said the diagnostic test wouldnt be wrong that that was what was needed to fix it. So we got the money together and paid for a new computer. Not even 2 weeks went by and the whole computer system is down and worse than before and wont even turn on the lights go crazy on the dash back to the no abs and one light now says NO bus. My husband calls and they say it doesnt sound like the computer system that it sounds like a new problem. So, obviously they didnt find the real problem and made us pay over 6,000 for a computer and now want more money to find out what the original problem is. They do not know what they are doing and dont guarantee their work even with a diagnostic run. I would avoid going here at all costs. They dont care about actually fixing the problem and making things right. They dont care about their customers just about making money.

2022-03-22Went here a while back and they diagnosed my Jeep with an electrical problem quoting the repair to be $2,000. I took my Jeep to a specialist in Austin instead. Turns out Steele completely misdiagnosed my issue and we’re going to charge me $1500 dollars more. I stress everyone to be cautious when going to this place. Also if they misdiagnose a problem in your Jeep you will have to pay for the wrong parts and the new ones to find the correct fix. BEWARE

2022-06-18Went to look at 2 vehicles posted on website was told both vehicles went to auction. Salesman tried to sell me everything EXCEPT what I asked for. Went to their second location in Kyle both vehicles I wanted to look at was on the kyle dealerships lot. WHY couldnt the salesman tell me this instead of it Went to auction.
