While on the boat, we had a great time. The captain was very nice, boat was clean, etc. However, upon review of our credit card statement we found that we had been overcharged by about $200. We called the company to try to sort it out. No phone call back. We then disputed the overcharge with our credit card company. In response, Sun & Fun sent our credit card company an receipt with inflated charges including $80 captain fee (was supposed to be included with our rental price), overcharge for the hours we had the boat (1 hr was supposed to be free - early bird special) and $75 in fuel charges. We have been boat owners for years and never gone through 15 gallons of fuel (at $5 a gallon!!) in less than 4 hours on the water (including a lunch break where the boat was turned off). Do not trust this company!
We had an awesome time! We had my sisters birthday party and had a wonderful experience. Our captain was very friendly, fun and willing to do what it took to make sure we had a great time. We will definitely be booking another party!
We rented a pontoon and ski boat to celebrate my 47th birthday with family and friends. The captains were fantastic and we all had a great time cooling off on an extremely hot afternoon.
Very poor experience in dealing with this business. We booked seadoos in advance for multiple people and stated that up front. When we arrived, the man told us that normally they require customers to pay for a dockmaster to aid in switching out with so many people. I said that we would have been happy to pay for that, but he had not mentioned that at booking. He then told us exactly how and where to load and offload, and after having told us that they require a dockmaster to monitor this, he himself left us alone with the seadoos. The machines were in poor repair, and one broke down halfway through our period. When he came back to work on the machine, he noticed the hood was cracked. This happened because it was a windy day, and as we docked, the waves pushed the machines up under the dock as they were bobbing. This, by the way, is exactly what he told us to do, even with the wind and waves. He blamed us and said that anyone with common sense didnt need a dockmaster and that we would pay for the machines. We followed their instructions, and they violated their own company policy by not having an employee there. I said that I was happy to discuss the charges, and let me know what they would be. I never heard from him after that- but my credit card was charged for the repair, which was quite expensive. I called multiple times and only managed to get him on the phone once. He said I would have to talk to the office manager about that; Im still not sure that person exists, he would not give me a name or a phone number.I disputed the charge with my credit card company, but Sun & Fun provided them an invoice that I had never seen (but asked for) and my signature on the repair bill. I never signed a bill with that amount on it- this signature may have been taken from the rental charge.These folks are absolutely criminal and will take advantage of customers to fix their old hardware and are too lazy to run a decent operation and make sure that their customers and equipment are safe. Good luck getting them on the phone or having any reasonable conversation. I will never use them again and hope you dont either.By the way, this review is not a case of mistaken identity. It is for Sun & Fun rentals on Lake Austin, which leaves from the Walsh public boat landing at 1600 Scenic Dr. The guy we dealt with was Mark.
What an amazing experience. Friendly staff, easy going, big inventory of different boats to choose from. Great for one person trips and groups. One day or multiple days. I would recommend going on a weekday or a holiday, in my experience the traffic is much lower.
Came to Austin for Memorial Day and rented a pontoon. Had a great time and the captain was excellent. We will be back again next year and will definitely rent from Sun and Fun.
My family and I were visiting Austin over the Easter weekend and rented a pontoon boat from Sun & Fun on Lake Austin. The weather was perfect and we had a great time. Highly recommend.
I reserved a rental boat over 3 weeks in advance. I tried calling multiple times the week of, to confirm the rental, but no one ever answered the phone. I even left multiple voice mails, requesting a return call. I still showed up at the scheduled time that I had reserved the boat (as the website says a no-show = getting charged the full amount), and no one was there. My parents had come from California, and we were so excited for an evening of boating/tubing. I tried calling to at least talk to someone to find out what happened, but no one has answered, and I still never received a return call. I have not yet been charged, so that is something, but even if I am, I will definitely be disputing it!!
My friends and I had a great time on Lake Austin. I was told that all boat rentals included a captain but being an experienced boater I prefered to drive myself and was able to do so.
I have been renting from Sun & Fun Watercraft Rentals for a long time. Have always had a great experience. Great customer service, and we always had a great time. I will continue to rent from them!

Absolutely love these guys! Rented their New Harris Pontoon for my bachelorette party with 2 Seedoos. Our Captain, Charlie and our instructors Mark and Logan (for the Seedoos) were the greatest. Everyone had blast and are still talking about how much fun we had.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFFI hate this place, I want to give 0 stars but it doesnt have that option. I tried calling multiple times to reserve a boat, but the person who picks up the phone is very RUDE, he hangs up the phone right on my face multiple times. Their boats are all old from the 1980 to 1990. all junk that they put together, they dont even have business license. The owner is total jerk, he will lie to your face just to make money. They use Public boat ramps to do private business.
Our captain picked us up and dropped us off at the location I requested. He was courteous and provided us with a great experience while we all relaxed and enjoyed the scenic views on lake Austin.
Absolute crooks. I never leave negative reviews because I believe most bad experiences are down to mistakes or factors outside or peoples control. But read other reviews after you read mine. They WILL add extra charges to your credit card, then when you dispute them, provide forged or edited documents to attempt to prove them correct. I own a large real estate company here in town and we help a lot of people moving here find out about local businesses we recommend. This is one of only 5 companies in Austin now on our blacklist. Avoid them like the plague. Just makes me so mad companies this crooked are allowed to operate in our great city.

We have rented from Sun & Fun twice so far this year and have always had a great time. The last time we got a lily pad and our captain, Mark, took us to the party cove, and everyone had a FANTASTIC time!
We rented one of their pontoons with a lily pad for my daughters birthday party. Everyone had the best time. My daughter and her friends didnt want the fun to end.

Ive been using Sun & Fun Watercraft for years and Mark and his staff always go above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of.
BEWARE !!!!!! they chose to not inform us nor advertise/post anywhere that a added 20% gratuity would be added to the rental service! Even after a tip was ALREADY GIVEN and expected at the end of the rental boat ride!!

2021-08-04Mark, the owner, and Charlie, the captain, were awesome. Booking over the phone was very easy. It was waiting for us at the boat ramp when we showed up a little early. The boat was clean and spacious. We paired this rental with a few jet skis from another company. The jet skis were late, and Charlie was really accommodating and let us have some more time on the back end. He took us to the 360 bridge and nearby rope swing (really fun). One of my buddies left his phone on the boat. Mark called him as soon as he found it, and went way out of his way to bring it to us. That was truly exceptional. Thanks to both Mark and Charlie!

2021-08-04We rented a pontoon boat and had a great time. The captain was knowledgeable of the area and took us under cool bridge and to a rope swing, which was a lot of fun. The captain was laid back and let us do our thing while at the same keeping us landlubbers safe. A very good time.

2018-05-29My girl friends and I rented a dog friendly pontoon boat from Sun & Fun and we all had a great time including my dog. The process was so easy and our captain was fantastic. I went to their office to sign the contract and pay for the rental which took no time at all because the contract was filled out in advance. Our captain was already waiting for us at the Hula Hut dock where he helped us board the boat and off we went. The time went by so quickly that before we knew it we were on our way back. Once we returned to the dock the captain helped us off the boat, thanked us for coming out and said he hoped to see us again. I highly recommend Sun & Fun and I am hoping to get out at least one more time this year.

2018-06-01Last month while visiting a friend in Austin, I rented a pontoon boat from Sun & Fun, so us and all our friends could go have fun on the lake. Our captain was fantastic, and mentioned a party cove near the 360 bridge if we wanted to mingle with other folks on the lake. We had such a blast, there were tons of friendly people to meet and hang out with. Im definitely going back to Sun & Fun for future watercraft excursions!

2015-09-04It has been 4 years since I wrote my last review for this company and although some of the staff members have come and gone my needs have always been met. Just last week I rented a ski boat and had a great time as usual. This coming Labor Day weekend I am looking forward to renting a pontoon boat with family and friends and will expect the same. I have been renting from this company for years and never had a problem other than damaging a propeller in which I took full responsibility for.

2018-07-31My family and I had awesome time on Lake Austin . Making the reservation was easy and no deposit required.Mark was vert helpful make sure I selected the correct boat to suit our needs.Our driver David was extremely knowledgeable of what to and where to go to insure we had a great experience considering it was our first time on Lake Austin . The only negative was that the time went by to quickly. I highly recommend Sun &Fun.

2016-06-09I rented a ski boat from Sun & Fun last weekend and had a fantastic time on the lake even though the weather was not as good as anticipated. I showed up 30 minutes in advance as I was asked to do when I made my reservation and ended up getting out 15 minutes early. We spent the morning tubing and had lunch at Ski Shores. We returned the boat on time with no problems. I highly recommend Sun & Fun and as soon as this ridiculous rain stops I will go again.

2018-07-03Rented a pontoon boat from Sun and Fun Rentals. We had a large group of family members and still had room enough for more people. The rental went like clock work. From making the reservation to the rental it was so easy. And we had a blast, cant wait for next year to book a rental again.

2016-05-28My family,friends and I rented a pontoon boat from Sun&Fun during the week and had a blast.We took advantage of the 2/3 eir weekday special of paying for 3 hrs and getting the 4th hr free . Everything was easy from making the reservation to returning the boat. Highly recommend and will be going back for more soon. Great job guys you rock.
