My boys have been taking piano lessons from Mrs. Conkel for several years! They both have learned so much and have a wonderful relationship with her. She is patient, kind, and supportive. My younger son has special needs and needs a lot of guidance. Over the years he is able to perform solo pieces and receive high ratings from the judges. We highly recommend Mrs. Conkel for suzuki piano lessons.

Our family has been with Mrs. Conkel’s piano studio for 16 years. We have been very pleased. She is wonderful with children and teens alike. Mrs. Conkel has a gift for teaching music and working with each student’s unique learning style.

Mrs. Conkel is one heck of a piano teacher. You can get college-level instruction from her. I say this because no detail is left out. She not only teaches songs, using the Suzuki method, she also teaches the mechanics of playing. Heck, I didnt even know you can affect the sound of a piano by the way you strike the keys! In the 2 and 1/2 years that my young son took lessons with her, we found her to be very organized, professional, and also patient and loving. She is a part of the Grand Prairie Piano Teachers association and they give a student plenty of opportunities to perform the songs they learn. My son played in several recitals and we could see his confidence building, along with his ability to perform. If one follows her advice, they will have great technique, piano tone, and ability to make music, as is evidenced by the older students who played with her for many years. Her approach is painstaking, and the reward, if the student applies themselves, is being able to produce well-played songs, not only with the correct notes played, but with great dynamics (loud and soft parts, as appropriate) and expressiveness. I wish I had enrolled my daughter as well to take advantage of the huge head start Mrs. Conkel can give a prospective pianist. Many of todays kids, including mine, just dont have the dedication and love of music to be able to put in the necessary time to learn the piano. I shudder to think what she could do with a truly dedicated student. I will close this long review by saying we never had any problems with Mrs. Conkel. She had my son playing very well, in spite of his inability to apply himself the way I thought he should. He is more into sports now, so we finally made the decision let him focus on school and sports. Still, he has the foundation now, as I did when I took lessons as a young man (age 10 -13), that can be called upon should he ever want to pursue a music. Thank you for all the hard work, great memories, and good times, Mrs. Conkel. I wish you and your local group, as well as your affiliated state-level music group, all the luck in the world in these days when kids just want to play video games and surf the internet.

I want to give a big shout out to Mrs. Conkel who gives piano lessons to kids with special needs, specifically autism. My kids are neurotypical but we see the autistic kids play at recitals, too, and they are amazing. My daughter has been taking lessons for three plus years now and my five year old son just got started. Mrs. Conkel is so patient and so good with little kids. My daughter started just before turning four. Mrs. Conkel also has high expectations for her students and she won‘t advance kids unless they get the techniques down and play well. I also love that she incorporates other piano methods into Suzuki classical piano so my kids are exposed to genres like jazz and fun Christmas songs. We commute two plus hours round trip from north Fort Worth to take lessons from her weekly. She is worth the drive!
