We really enjoyed the museum. Admission is FREE but donations are gratefully accepted. We decided to check it out since it was too chilly to hike at the State Park. There is a great hands on area for the kids to play. My kids really enjoyed the train and vehicles on the backside of the property but it was really cold and we couldnt stay out in that weather for too long.
This is a really nice museum about the Forest industry in the area. Lots of things to see and learn. The little ones will love the big train outside and inside is a miniature railroad and they can play with the trains. The great thing is its Free, donations accepted.A good place to go with family and spend quality time together.
Wonderfully done museum that is free. They do a great job of displaying all of the products that come from the forest and the hard work it takes to get them to market. The trains out back were a treat and the entire family lived it. Dont forget the short nature trail out back that labels dozens of trees and has interesting facts about them.
What a neat little place! This is definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon, whether it be with kids or adults. Its really interesting reading about forestry in East Texas and seeing all the pictures. This museum is free to visit, all they ask for is donations if you have them. I usually donate a couple dollars whenever I go. Theres a little trail you can walk around on in the back, with markers showing you which tree is which, and you can even get in the old steam engine! Id recommend this if youre looking for an interesting, free thing to do in Lufkin.
I love this place, its free to enter, very informative, and has an interactive exhibit for children. Almost everything that has anything to do with trees and logging is at this museum. And although I went on a Saturday, for a while hour I was the only one in the museum. Im definitely coming back.
The new building sucks but it is still the best Forestry Museum around. There is no nature trail anymore since they filed the insurance claim of all trees lost even though that trail was intact after the tornado. They just bulldozed the entire thing and made part of it a parking lot. But there are 5 Pokestops and a Pokegym.

2022-05-21Love this neat place. My son and I can play in the kid zone for more than two hours every week. I especially love that most of the toys were made by staff in the museum and are kind of Montessori style. The staff make a great effort to keep the museum clean, fun, interactive and educational. The outside display is great too.

2022-06-23While it is technically free donations are welcomed. They have a wonderful play area for the kids and we learned a lot during the walk through. Theres also a walking trail and activities outside. Its not too big so I didnt mind letting my children explore.

2021-12-15We found this museum during our road trip to Houston. Kids had a great time there.Inside is very clean. Many activities for kids, especially for little transportation fans. (There are many cars, trucks indoor. ) There are also many trucks/trains outdoor. (But mosquitoes in summer)

2022-01-29What a wonderful museum! Always neat and clean and never crowded. A lot of interesting exhibits and tons of information on logging and how it used to be done in the past. We truly enjoy coming here and will certainly be coming back again.

2022-06-06We were not at all expecting this place to be as wonderful as it was. The children and adults in our family loved this . I only wish I would have found it sooner. The older kids did a scavenger hunt and the younger couldnt get out of the hands on play room . Just a wonderful experience.

2022-05-30Without having done research on this prior it was a bit smaller than I expected and lacked information on trees of the area I was hoping for.Thats not to say this was a bad museum, it does well for engaging children and provides history of the industry, life and products.I would recommend it if you are in the area. We made it a stop after Nacogdoches on our way to Caddo Lake.

2019-12-09We had so much fun at the Texas Forestry Museum 😊 We showed up an hour before opening time... but we were not bored while waiting! We played in the nature park and trekked the trails. The inside was awesome as well. My husband and I loved the historical area of the museum, while the kiddos loved the hands on childrens area. After a day of exploring history, craft making and dressing up we left with some great memories.
