Texas Thrift Store in other cities:
I actually love going thifting here but lately this place has gone a little nuts on the prices in things that they get absolutely free!!! Maybe they got new management or new ceo or something. Tennis were at the most 14. Now u see some at 39 and boots at 50. I sell on the side from my regular day job but this place has changed so much in pricing in abad way that its hard to get good deals anymire.more. a Used jackets are now 25 and up to 60 bucks.its getting crazy. Thank God Goodwill is not as crazy.... Yet.
They reply to comments saying they offer discounts which is fine that happens. Ur the prices have changed. That’s just a fact. So much so fo the point where I’ve been shopping elsewhere. It sucks because I’ve always loved it for the organization and how non crowded it is. But There’s no reason a used baby onesie should be $3.99.
I used to shop here before the pandemic and it was affordable. However now the prices are not reasonable for used clothing. A Walmart brand boys Garnimals sells for 4.88 or less at Walmart new but here the resale price for used it was 7.98. In addition, I saw a new boy Columbia brand name jacket priced for 19.97 but had retail price tag still on for 10.98. I wish I took pic. Even if it is discounted 50 or 30% prices still are not resonable. I dont know if it went under new management but from my perspective it is not affordable to average consumer. Prices need to be reasonable with or without discounts. These are items that were donated.
The prices for the items in this place is ridiculous. I needed flat sheets and well I found some $7 each!! Like a few more bucks I couldve just got them new. But alas I still got them because didnt feel like going to other places. So I was defeated I guess. Their gain.
RIDICULOUS how much the prices have gone up! A little girls shirt was new with tag from old navy saying $4, Texas thrift was selling it for $8! Double of what it cost originally. They get all these items donated to them and only care about making profit, NOT keeping it affordable. $20 basic tees? $10 shorts? $5 baby onsie? $15 long sleeve? RIDICULOUS! I tried reporting to BBB but McAllen location didn’t show up as a option. Most of the staff is plain rude and has very bad attitude!
Great price and everything super clean. One draw back is that you’re not able to try on clothing to buy but that is everywhere due to covid. One idea a cashier gave was to go in wearing shorts or tights. Great customer service provided by ms Priscilla. Thanks to her I was able to buy lots of clothing. We will be coming again.
Cool store, some good deals! Employee Mary definitely made it a bad experience. Very rude as a cashier. Even the customers behind me commented on her attitude. I understand that working as a cashier especially during a pandemic is hectic, but she should not take it out on customers.Other than that, youll probably find a good deal.
It has some cool gadgets and the clothes arent bad neither, lot of name brand such as; Hollister, Polo, Banana Republic, Hanes and Etc. Its mostly focuses on clothes and not much of anything else. Prices are reasonable but unbalanced. All in all its a great store for thrifting.
Went there recently for the first time and was surprised at how much clothing is available and for such a cheap price. I found this one jacket that I am completely in love with and have gotten lots of compliments on for only $5! Definitely recommend shopping here. Thrift stores are in, outlet stores are out!
Its the second time Ive spent almost $200 on clothes itself...all clothes are espensive for a thrift store...I used to be able to buy a brand shirt for $5 the most $6 bucks, now $13 and a long sleeve $15...still bought it cause I need it, but came home with a bittersweet taste😕
I really like this thrift store. Its very big in comparison to other thrift stores and theres more variety. If youre into vintage pieces this is the place to go. I do agree that prices are a bit high for being a thrift store but I think theyre worth it, especially for the unique vintage pieces. I always find something I like when I go here. The staff is always very friendly as well.
I went on Black Friday when they had 50% off everything and they did not disappoint, they have a lot of cool t-shirts here, I ended up getting 4 shirts for $7, this place is huge too so there’s a great selection of things to choose from. Although, it was kind of messy when I was there so they might want to get staff to organize the items.
The staff is rude especially the guy with the funky mustache! Every time Im there paying he starts talking to fellow employees and completely ignores us the customer! Starts talking about personal life with other employees in front of customers and its like we have places to go , we dont have all day!
This thrift store is not the great place it once was (back when they still had the inflatable gorilla up in front, anybody remember that?). The selection of clothing is the same but sadly the pricing is drastically different. Over the years, the prices have been creeping up. Now taking into consideration for inflation, I understand. But sometimes the price tags are down right ridiculous, especially considering a percentage of their merchandise is donated for free. Although, sometimes you can still find a deal every once in a while if you REALLY look, hence the extra star. And for a thrift store, its a nice building.
Worst experience thrifting, it was my first time going and it surely will be the last. When I wanted to try on some clothes there was no one to open the fitting rooms for me. I had to ask multiple people for help and all they said was I dont have a key, out of 5 people only 1 was nice enough to go find someone with a key. I was was waiting there for more than 10 minutes. Also when I was waiting in line for the cash registry, there where 2 people in front of me and someone that had just arrived behind me, there was only 1 registry open but then they open another one, instead of helping who ever was next in line they specifically told the person behind me to go to the next registry after I had been waiting for a while to get help. Worst customer service ever.
3 large book shelves and a huge selection of well organized clothes (by size and style) for men and women. Above each clothing rack is a selection of products (usually tapes). Bigger selection for women. The better stuff is usually in the back as far as non clothing items go.
Expect too much for the paying...i mean a lot, like calm down is a thrift shop. If you enjoy being treated like a dog, rude supervisors and very poor management then I recommend you here. I worked at the one on 2nd St McAllen, across freedom fitness. .one thing I didnt like about this store was the store management. A supervisor dating an employee, and nobody would say anything.. And the other one always cussing and doing nothing but sitting down inside the break room eating ans chilling, firting with new Co workers. Looks so wrong on her and on the store for letting this happen. Co workers are usually really cool and customers are really nice . Funny thing is customers come to us to complain about our supervisors rather than being the other way around I wouldnt go back. Im grateful for God giving me the chance to at least have a job at that time , but I would never go back.
Big store with alot of good stuff, but the items are way over priced, crazy over priced. Third time I have gone and staff is always unfriendly. Will definetly rethink on going again. Oh and the stupid rule if it doesnt have a price we cant sell it, so dumb. Looking for a new thrift store to shop.
Saw 2 side tables that were not priced, we took them to the front, the cashier didn’t know what to do, I asked her to call the manager, the manager called the girl that is in charge of furniture, and after a few minutes the only thing she could say was that they couldn’t sell them because it didn’t have a code, my question is why do u have things in the floor for sale when u can’t sell them?
Way over priced for the condition of the clothing. And no 99 cent clothing items like if the poeple that work here separate stuff for themselves in advance or something.. I couldnt find not 3 pieces for 99c Monday ... dissapointed in prices and rude staff wont be coming again

2021-11-12I shop at this store for some clothing only when they have the 50% discount that happens during certain holidays throughout the year. Other than that, I will not buy anything else since everything seems to be overpriced. You also have to be very picky with what you choose since a lot of the clothing sold here is already worn out or stained. Before I forget, on the days they have the 50 percent off, lines are very long.

2022-06-02Really good selection and everything is organized well but I wish it wasn’t so dusty and humid in there and that the lanes were a bit bigger so that there is more room for people to move their carts.

2021-11-15Prices have gone extremely high considering that everything they sell is donations. Wonder where the money is actually going... $10 for these used nail polishes that obviously have gone bad.

2022-05-01Usually have great selection for women and children, as for men its a toss up. Hit and miss rather, you can score big or find nothing at all.

2021-11-08Prices are way too high for used clothing. I saw a cookie jar for 16 used that I could get at home goods new for 10. Cashier was friendly, but also did not allow me to buy a toy that didnt have a tag. My toddler really wanted it and I wouldve paid whatever and she still didnt allow it. Went to goodwill and their prices are a fraction.

2021-11-07Plenty of merchandise to buy, but the prices have gone up. Still its better than buying new on most items. All items need to be washed or steam cleaned, they have a funny smell to them
