There are so many great things I could say about this place! To the quality and quick service, forthcoming staff and detailed explanations on exactly whats wrong with your car. My car has like a zillion miles on it lol and after coming from The Auto Shop it feels like a brand new car! With that being said, The Auto Shop will be taking care of all my car maintenance from now on!
Very friendly and polite. Unfortunately, dishonest. Quoted $3000 for clutch repair with lots of necessary add ons. Tried to scare me out of getting a second opinion. I left. AAMCO made the repair for $1600. Previous work I had done at Auto Shop included a $900 (!!!) charge for battery and alternator replacement on a compact Toyota. I should have learned my lesson that time. They give you long, patient explanations but in mechanic speak that make no sense. AAMCO explained clearly in English and actually laughed out loud at a printed copy of the Auto Shop quote.
18 months ago had water pump replaced along with a coolant pump. Coolant reservoir clearly states g12 (which is a type of coolant, not a BRAND. Goofballs). They used a generic coolant, now I had an Ect fail replaced myself and it’s completely corroded. Can’t imagine what else is going to fail now internally.Edit: since they claim 200k miles my car currently has 80k. 2016 Audi A4.So they are liars too, coolThanks guys
Great place. Great people. Very professional. Absolute excellent place even for people that dont know enough about their vehicles. Complete breakdown on your issue and how its fixed. Definitely recommended. Will definitely be back for any service I may need. Thumbs way up guys.
I was in town visiting my mother and she needed her car inspected. I called ahead and they set me appointment on short notice. They were very helpful since I was not aware of emissions testing, and did an extended check of her vehicle. They did not try any fast talking even on her 14 year old car with only 70k miles.I walked out very happy and would recommend them for your car needs. Oh, and the facility was super clean!
The folks at The Auto Shop are great! My 2017 Jaguar went out of warranty and they were able to service my vehicle for me. John at the front desk was courteous and honest - I left my vehicle for service feeling comfortable. Without a doubt the prices were more affordable compared to the dealer Im sure. Came to The Auto Shop around 2 years after searching shops in the area and seeing their reviews. Those reviews (the good ones) were correct. Everyone at The Auto Shop has been polite, knowledgeable, and professional, have answered all the questions I have, ferried me home and back on the one time where my car needed to be in over night, and have been fair and reasonable with their pricing. Highly recommend going here for your vehicle repair/maintenance related needs.
If you own a car, you’ve probably been to a mechanic before and worried if you’re paying too much for repairs. Or that you’re paying for the WRONG repairs. Well, the communication at the Auto Shop is second to none. The employees at the Auto Shop (looking at you Dustin) are friendly and honest. Dustin was clear about what was wrong (and even sent me pictures) and what the costs were.I ended up getting 2 new axles and a new radiator as well as a few small fixes.In addition, when repairs were going to take longer than expected, they gave me a loaner car so I could get my kids home in time for dinner - it worked out great!It was a great experience and gave me hope that fixing my car doesn’t have to be a huge hassle.
The Auto Shop is the best service provider that I have found in the area. Some of the other places were never able to diagnose the problem. Auto Shop always identifies the issue. They are reliable and transparent about what needs repaired. They charge a reasonable rate and give a discount to AAA members. They also send a nice monthly newsletter to customers.
I had RATS!I went to the dealership and without looking at my car I was told it would be an all day process and cost up to $5,000. So I went for a second opinion, and Im glad I did.With the Auto Shop I spent three hours and three hundred dollars. I am grateful for the amazing staff and service. I will never go to the dealership again!

My 2013 kia Sorento has a knock on the engine. It was the motor mounts. I was quoted a higher price by another company and i had a problem with oil filter which was fixed but left a bunch of oil all over. The first company didnt even mention it. The auto shop not only saved me a little money but they made me aware of the oil they mentioned it and not at all made me feel like they were trying to sell me a service. They took care of me right away for my estimate and faster than the time they quoted. I went back and got my repairs through them and will be going back for anything i need the offer convinent rides home if you leave your car but have a waiting room if you care to stick around.Def.. felt they were there to help.
I have used The Auto Shop for years. They are my go to for any car concerns that I have. They are honest with the repairs and maintenance that need to be done on my cars and they do not upsell services. I trust them to provide quality service and to keep my family safe on the road. I am thankful they are here and am a customer for life.
I have used this auto shop for many different repairs on my car (approximately $3,000 worth) and was very happy until recently. They did a somewhat major repair and it went out within 6 months. When I contacted them to discuss it, they said they would call me back and I have never even heard from them. When I followed up again they still didnt call back. Not happy with their customer service, or the way they warrant their work. I will not return.
Being new to TX, I chose this shop based on the overwhelming positive reviews. And that’s exactly what I’ve experienced the few times I’ve taken my car in so far. The customer service is consistently personable and professional. This past visit, John showed me the issues with my car so I could see the assessment was honest and in my best interest. The pricing was reasonable. I had a lot of work done that was completed in one day as estimated which was a huge convenience. The overall experience, genuine care and connection will keep me coming back!
I just went in for some help removing the screws for my license plate, since they had rusted. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and my daughter loved playing in the toy area. We just moved to Dallas so I am thrilled that we quickly found an auto shop that we can trust.

The Shop is very clean, and the team is ready to address any issues you might have with your automobile, regardless of the make, model or year. I was pleased to find this shop. I had an older Camry that needed to be fixed up for a family member. John and Dustin helped me make some good decisions on items to fix, they scheduled a couple of things that could be done later and generally gave me good information on the condition of the car.I will trust this company to take care of me and my family’s cars.
Overall good place. But expensive but did get my car done. I also suggested my roommate to take his car and speak with John.At pick up one of the plug wasn’t in and gave me check engine light but the guy diagnosed it and found out what it was. If not I would have had to call the Uber amd miss my class. Thanking God for working car again. They did thorough check up.
I was referred here by my boss and I am so very lucky she did. Jeff and Lenny both are AMAZING!! They helped me with a very difficult situation with the car I purchased less than 2 months ago. Jeff took the time to not only explain what was going on with my car but showed me as well. He even wrote it down and made sure I understood!! NO dealership has ever done that!! State Inspection.My primary and only maintenance shop. I find them to be honest and detailed. They will fix your problem and not try to upsale you something you dont need. Being a person with limited knowledge of the cars systems, I feel comfortable having them take care of my car. The Jerry and Dr Laura updates are both entertaining and informative, you will find out if you visit. Glad I found them, I think you will too.
Me and my wife have both taken our cars there. The prices are fair and I dont feel they try to force unnecessary repairs like other shops. The last time I went they even repaired some scratches on my car free of charge. Very much appreciated. I will be going back often.
I’m new to the area and had passed the shop in the past so when my car wouldn’t start this was the first shop that came to mind. I called Tuesday morning and immediately I could tell John was concerned with not only obtaining my business but making sure my service needs were met. From start to finish he was completely transparent and kept me updated. The entire staff was nice and the location is ideal. And the safety precautions they are taking are beyond impressive! There are businesses that set themselves apart in communities and The Auto Shop definitely exceeds expectation. From the first phone call to schedule the staff was friendly and accommodating. When dropping off my SUV, John was extremely thorough asking detailed questions to ensure he knew exactly what I needed and made sure I knew additional potentials for what was needed. The Auto Shop uses SMS communication throughout the service and repair so customers know where the vehicle is in the process. When a few extra issues were discovered, I was sent pictures and received a few phone calls explaining what was wrong and what was needed to resolve. When picking up my vehicle, all work was explained and was given a 36 months parts and labor warranty which tells me they stand behind their work. The Auto Shop has truly gained a loyal customer. The team at The Auto Shop was very professional and helped me choose the best service needs for my automobile. The repair only took a day after parts arrived. Upon receiving the vehicle, I noticed a major improvement in handling, acceleration and general feeling of a newer vehicle.

I called to have a repair done. I am a recently divorced/single mother and a car hit me and drove off. I needed help and fast. This shop was quick and amazing. The quality and compassion this shop has is top notch.I cannot say enough on how highly recommend this shop. They went way above and beyond any other car repair shop i have experienced. I am a 2nd generation race car driver and have been around car shops my whole life. The professionalism and how they worked with me on funds were amazing. They even left a small toy for my son in the car. They brought me to tears of joy. HIGHLY recommend them. Best around.
Fast, friendly and efficient service. Made an appointment for safety inspection which resulted in no waiting in line. John greeted me immediately, took necessary information and had my inspection completed in a flash. Store is clean and took the effort to wipe my credit card and key fob when passing it back to me. Highly recommend!
Fast, fair, and honest. As a stereotypical woman who doesn’t know much about the engine of a car, John unprompted explained what was going on and what it would take to repair. He didn’t try to sell me on anything unnecessary and even drove me home so I didn’t have to call an Uber. He also called to explain the cost of service after a deeper diagnosis and didn’t do anything until I okayed the service. I highly recommend this company!
2021 Review - Scheduled with The Autoshop via email. They were really flexible with the time and was able to provide me with a date within a week! Came in for a standard oil change/tire rotation and maintenance, it was discovered that my car had a bad motor mount and brake fluids needed to be flushed. John and Dustin were extremely helpful in identifying the issue and explaining it and the costs associated with the repairs. I came in at 8 am and left with my car at 2 pm on the same day. They even dropped me off at work while I waited! Superior service you just wont find anywhere else!! They always have a special so be sure to check their website.2020 Review - Great service, I had a full inspection and oil change. I was in and out in less than an hour. Will come back for my next one!
Amazing staff! John was very helpful and informative. I needed my suv checked to make sure I didn’t have any undercarriage damage after running over some debris on the highway and being involved in a small accident. They also checked my brakes and did an all around inspection. I am definitely a customer for life now, and went ahead and performed the 60k mile maintenance on the vehicle, couldn’t be happier and feel safer than knowing these guys made sure my suv is in tip top shape! Again awesome customer service and they really take the time to explain everything to you.
This is my home garage!The integrity of this establishment is top notch! The crew is attentive and real.I brought my 97 Jeep Wrangler to them.The disgonitic was spot on. I understood everything they needed to accomplish to keep my baby bouncing through mud pits and rocking the highway.Next, I brought my partners Toyota Tacoma for a tune up. I was in a pinch, I had run over something unknown on the interstate and it sounded like it wrapped around my drive shaft. I wasnt able to get to it without a proper lift, so I needed someone fast. I called these guys the next morning and explained my situation. Without hesitation they asked me to come in immediately, that this might pose a fire risk. They were extremely professional and kind. They had plenty of work to do judging by the cars in the shop, but understanding my need to get to work, they Immediately got my car up on the lift and found that I had a fair amount of twine and caution tape wrapped around my shaft that had also melted to my exhaust. It was a mess! I fully expected to pay for the service they provided, but the gentleman assisting me told me not to worry about it.Sir, I did not catch your name, but thanks again! You guys have definitely gained my future business.
Just had a really remarkable experience. I needed the rear suspension repaired in a 2004 Buick Ranier. The service manager, John, was very thorough with his explanation of the problem and potential solutions. The work was completed in a very reasonable time...actually sooner than they predicted. Really great customer service. Thanks John!
Brought my 2008 Dodge Charger here. Brought it in 11am Saturday. Got an update call Monday morning. And had it ready for me to pick up that same Monday afternoon. My car is all fixed up! They made the process very stress free. They girls in the office were also very nice. This is the only place i will be bringing my car. Keep up the good work guys!
Do not use this shop unless you want to be taken advantage of. John called my warranty co and got paid for a new front struts assemblys but my car runs rough and had a louder noise under hood and dash running worse than before taking car in for test drive at another finding out mounts and springs were old original with parts missing on top of one mount and screws were missing on plastic cover. I went into The Car Shop leaving copies of 2 shops diagnostics telling me manager would be calling me for an appointment to bring car in. After two weeks I call them telling me to take my car somewhere else because they told my warranty co the mounts and springs were still good not needing replaced only struts were replaced. I called my warranty co and they paid the shop for a new complete strut assembly. They are not a reputable shop, collecting the warranty money making a bigger profit hoping no one finds out. They will not honor fixing my car telling me to take my car somewhere else to fix it from now on. Being on a fixed income it’s hard to have to pay for expensive repairs. My car still need mounts and springs another $1K to fix
Ive had a couple of issues with my car lately and was recommended to The Auto Shop by a dear friend. My experience has been nothing short of excellent! The staff was friendly and accommodating. The service was quick and repairs were completed prior to commitments made. The cost of repairs hurt financially because they were unexpected but were not out of line with other. I will recommend The Auto Shop to others who need mechanical repairs!
This was my first time taking my vehicle to The Auto Shop. A friend recommended The Auto Shop to me. I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the service and how professional all employees were. The service tech explained what was going on with my vehicle in such a way that I understood. He recommended other services to me as well and suggested which service needed attention right away. My car was repaired in a timely manner and they even washed my car. I will definitely recommend The Auto Shop to friends and family. I will also return to get the remaining items repaired on my car. Summary: Excellent service that goes above and beyond, all in a timely manner.I brought my car in for a routine oil change but was informed of so much more. For no extra charge, the team at The Auto Shop informed me of a nail in my back left tire, and a cabin filter that needed to be changed. This inspection was done at no extra charge. I checked with where I bought my tire and indeed there was a nail, so I will return for further work on my vehicle.And, all of this, was done in no time. A super easy process with a team that cares about your vehicle as much as you do.
I have been taking my cars to The Auto Shop in Plano for several years now! My last visit reminded me why. I had a tire fixed by another auto shop that suggested I get my brakes done. I declined to have the other shop do the work and took in over to the Auto Shop a week later. I get a call from the service manager saying that my breaks had 50 to 80% life left. Not only was the other shop dishonest, the Auto Shop could have just slapped new brakes on and sent me down the road. Instead they were honest and continue to operate with integrity. They have always done quality work for me. Their staff is friendly and helpful! Thank you Auto Shop for being there when we need honest and friendly service.

Until this year, my BMW was completely covered under manufacturers warranty. So, when my car needed service (no longer covered), I was at a loss until I remembered an automotive shop I hear advertised on radio station KAAM 770. I know that station thoroughly vets their advertisers. Consequently, The Auto Shop was the first company that came to mind in my crisis. THE AUTO SHOP proved to be as competent, professional, and personable as their radio ads portrayed them. Once when I called, the owner (Jerry) actually answered the phone! Every staff person I worked with was especially kind and sympathetic to my situation. The repairs my car needed were neither minor, nor inexpensive. However, Randy worked with me to find the best price for the required parts, and I know I would have paid MUCH more at any other shop (definitely at my BMW dealership). THE AUTO SHOP is AAA certified, which reinforced my confidence in their service (and also got me a discount on both parts and labor) as a AAA member. In addition to the kind concern and professional service, I received a follow-up phone call from Kris (front desk/office), to check on me, ensuring my car was performing optimally. Some of my doctors dont even follow up with me! 💁🏻
AAA Approved Auto Repair, ASE certified technicians, absolutely outstanding service, my safety and my wallet in mind; this is perhaps the best shop Ive been to ever and I will likely return for future service.Shout-out to Dustin for kindly handling my case, Clinton for driving me home, and all others who helped!I am especially appreciative that they identified a suspension issue that another shop left behind and saved my life and others in the process.I highly recommend this shop; I feel like Ive struck gold.
We have used The Auto Shop for repairs since we relocated to Texas several years ago. They are ALWAYS easy to deal with, friendly, honest and thorough in their work. My husband is quite particular about who works on our vehicles as he does quite a bit of this type of work. If they can satisfy him, they do great work! They are incredibly flexible from a timing standpoint. We absolutely wont go anywhere else! Highly recommended!
My boyfriend and I had been trying to fix my car for weeks and for the life of us couldnt figure it out. So we took it to The Auto Shop as we always do and they had it fixed in one full business day. They never hassle us for anything we dont need like other mechanics tend to do. We have took his all his daughters car here too for years. We only trust The Auto Shop with the repairs on our vehicles. They are so friendly too. By far the cleanest Auto Shop I have ever been too! That says something! I highly recommend using them for all your vehicle needs!
I first found The Auto Shop as a recommended vendor from AAA. Ive used the Auto Shop for over 5 years now. They have always done an excellent job on my car. They may not be the cheapest shop around, but Ive always gotten fair value (or more!) for what I paid.They always give me choices when available, like use the moderately priced brake pad, which is a good product, or this higher-priced pad which will last longer, or we can fix this today, or you can drive your car safely for another couple of months before you really have to fix it.I trust the Auto Shop to find and tell me the truth about issues with my car. I always feel like they have my best interests in mind.Sometimes, when I really need to pick up my car by a certain time and they tell me they can do it, they dont. And that has impacted my life on 2 occasions. But while somewhat aggravating, the positives at the Auto Shop far outweigh that one negative. I would say the Auto Shop is the best shop Ive ever used. Im looking at getting a new car now, and I will bring it to the Auto Shop when the need arises.
These guys are so cool! Im new to the state and had to get my car state cert. Came in early and was greeted with smiles and good vibes. Just really good people. Of all the car shops Ive been to in KS, Iowa, and Michigan, The Auto Shop was by far the best experience. Im coming back for sure.
I needed my car inspected so I could get my new registration sticker. It was around 2 or 3 on the last day of the month (go figure) and I was determined to not have to go to the tax office the next day when I always go to Tom Thumb and never wait in any line. Ive never taken my car anywhere but the Honda place where I bought it but figured I would have to some day. I also knew I probably wouldnt make it to get my registration if I went there. I didnt have any idea where to go but remember passing The Auto Shop every time Im on Plano Pkwy. (I have no idea how I remembered the name!) I called to see if they had a long wait and they said to come on in...I think when I got there as quick as I did they were a little surprised.When I walked in the door I was immediately greeted by name. The two people working inside were extremely nice and we talked for about 15 minutes while someone else took my car back. It definitely helped make the time go faster. Im not sure how long it took, but no longer than anywhere else. I would definitely recommend The Auto Shop to someone looking for a nice, clean atmosphere and friendly people to work on their car.I would go back, unless it is something covered under my warranty, of course. ;)
I am usually the one to do the work on my cars but this time I needed to rely on the professionals. A simple repair turned into a disaster and The Auto Shop was there to help! I had no idea where to take my car at first but a simple Google search helped make that decision easier. I called them up first thing in the morning thinking there was no way they would be able to squeeze me in but it was no problem. They told me come on in. I limped my car in and within a few hours they called to let me know what I needed done and the cost. I agreed to the repair and my car was fixed that day. I picked up my car the following day and was surprised to find a bunch of goodies in my car. The cookie was delicious by the way!Being a woman is always a challenge going into a shop, even worse when you are a woman who works on her own cars. Most men wont remotely listen to you, however that was not the case with The Auto Shop. I asked to speak with a tech, he listened to me explain my disaster and he assured me they would fix it.I had a very positive experience with The Auto Shop. I will definitely use them again!
I performed a random search to locate an automotive repair shop to look at a wiring issue with a light on my vehicle. By happenstance I found THE AUTO SHOP. I thought let me give them a try. So I called after 9 am to see if I could get them to look at it. They got me in today. I arrived to the shop and they gave great customer service! They told me exactly how much it would be to diagnose the issue and how long before they could get to it. Diagnosis was completed and a quote and time frame were given. They performed the work with quality and came in under the price! They even washed my car before returning it! I walk out to my car to find the following tokens of appreciation: A little stuffed Monkey with a note, as well as a $10 gift certificate to Starbucks! I WILL DEFINITELY RETURN HERE FOR FUTURE SERVICE NEEDS!!!September 20148 months later and I am still very pleased with the service that I receive from my FRIENDS at THE AUTO SHOP! I did some research on mechanics in the area around/near my office. I decided to ask The Auto Shop to take a look at my trucks brakes. I was very impressed by them. I dropped off my truck. They gave me a ride back to my office (about a mile away) and the gentleman (Jerry) who drove me was as sweet and nice as could be! I enjoyed the few minutes I spent with him as he dropped me back at work and picked me up to take me back to the shop. I loved the drop off/pick up service as well! I dont think many garages do that anymore! (I still want to drive that stick-shift Ford!!!)Also, this repair garage is SO CLEAN. Ive been to other shops that smell like a garage. This one doesnt! Its not dirty! The actual shop itself looks very well taken care of! This also impresses me. I know that repairing cars is dirty work but this place is almost spotless! The waiting lobby was inviting, the girls at the front desk nice and pleasant!I am researching/comparing the price of my brake job so I cant comment about the work or cost as yet. This business seems to be very, very serious about their customers! From what Ive seen so far, this is how a business should be run! Well done!
This review is about 1 1/2 years in the making. Ive been a customer of The Auto Shop for about four years and I will say my early experiences were quite good. However, the past 18 months has driven me away from the shop - for good.Had three vehicles in during the recent 18 months for issues ranging from electrical, to fuel injection, to rear-end work. In the prior two cases, I had to make several time-consuming visits and ultimately had to go to a dealer for problem resolution. The dealers are more expensive -- but at least you dont have to pay for the problem resolution multiple times.The back-breaking straw is that the customer service just isnt there...used to be, but not any longer. I recently asked for an estimate (for something the dealers had no problem quoting) and was told they couldnt estimate over the phone but would be happy to take a look and see if they could handle the work. Not the level of confidence I expect from a good auto repair facility.Lastly, they have a so called rewards program (along the lines of cash back), but they insist you cant use them along with any of their monthly specials. Not so much a reward in my book.My advice is to use a dealership if you need anything more than a basic tune up or routine service - even if you need to pay a little more (you get what you pay for).
I have been taking my cars to The Auto Shop for many years. Everyone is always so kind, helpful and experienced. Everything is explained upfront with patience. My last visit I had to get a new engine. Everyone had made this as painless as possible. They even worked extra to get it done the day before Thanksgiving since I needed the car to travel. I will always recommend The Auto Shop!
I was told by the dealer that I needed my front brake pads changed out. The Auto Shop analyzed both the front and rear brakes and told me what needed changing and what could wait. I took my cars to the Auto Shop about 10 years ago, then bought new cars. I have just now returned and would recommend them. They will be honest with you and I have never had a problem with any repairs.
This was the best car repair experience I have had in a long time. My pickup had accelerated out of control. The Auto Shop checked it out and drove the car around but the acceleration problem would not repeat. There was no obvious reason why this problem should have occurred and the mechanic was very honest about it. I had a broken transmission mount (I knew about this problem already) and some twisted cable. The technician said something about these two things could have been the cause of the acceleration but he had never heard of it causing a problem like mine before. I went ahead and had the repairs done since they needed to be done anyway.The technician drove my truck around after the repairs and the acceleration problem did not reoccur.The price was very reasonable and the truck is running great. The Auto Shop workers were very professional and concerned and really listened to me. They gave me a free car wash too (badly needed I might add)!
We have been clients of The Auto Shop in Plano for over ten years and have never had a problem or concern with any of their work or recommendations. The work is done correctly and expeditiously the first time so there was no need to return to get something redone. We trust The Auto Shop to do only what is absolutely necessary - they do not recommend a fix unless that specific repair is truly needed. We highly recommend The Auto Shop to all of our friends and several of them have visited the shop and they too are now regular customers.
I was on my way to work when my car started jerking and losing power when I tried to accelerate. I was hitting the gas, the engine was revving but I wasnt accelerating. I pass The Auto Shop every day on my commute and I was able to jerk my way to their location. Literally. Chris/Kris at the desk was awesome. Breathe, take a breath, itll be OK! Do you need a ride to work? Phew! Yes I did! They drove me to the office and took my car in for a thorough diagnostic. The result - my transmission was toast. But Randy gave me an out-the-door price to get it fixed, and 4 days later I had my car back good as new.I highly recommend The Auto Shop to anyone who wants friendly, quick and honest service. Though I hope I wont need them again for a looong time, I will definitely be going back when that time comes!
I will only go to the auto shop in the future! The people here are honest and fair. I had been told I needed extensive work done on my vehicle by another mechanic, and friends suggested that I take it over to Jerry for an honest opinion. Turns out I did not need any of the services the other mechanic told me were critical to my safety. I really appreciated Jeff and Keith’s honest assessment of the situation, which is so rare these days.I will never go anywhere else!
Update 7/13/2017Jerry and the staff at the Auto shop is simply the best. During a previous visit, I had a problem that was rectified by them in a very timely manner. I just recently used their top notch service to fix my wifes car. The repairs were made in a timely manner and they even gave me a lift to and from my house. I have been using them for over 10 years with no regrets.
Had a great experience with the auto shop. My 4runner had a faulty starter which caused a lot of other issues with my truck. When i was stranded i Googled auto shop and noticed all of the great review with the auto shop and contacted them solely on their reviews. From the moment the reception answered the phone I knew i was in good hands. They scheduled my tow, the mechanic contacted me directly to tell me exactly what was wrong and what it was going to cost and how long it would take. I am always very hesitant to trust auto mechanics, but feel/felt in good hands with the auto shop.
I have been to the Auto Shop in Plano three times now and I am always impressed about how they are able to be technically excellent for an affordable price. The first time I was there was for repairs that the dealership quoted $9,800 for, but they were able to get me running well for $1,300. I know maybe that is an isolated case and the dealership probably wanted me to buy a new car, but still I always have the feeling that these guys treat the customers fairly. I will buy another car for my wife this year and my only criteria so far is that it is on the list of car makes that the Auto Shop works on.
I have been a customer of the Auto Shop for more than 20 years. I trust them to fix my vehicle correctly, the first time and at a fair price. They are women friendly and speak in terms that I can understand but do not talk down to me because Im a woman. They offer a AAA discount that always comes in handy. And I get reminder cards when it is time for an oil change or other maintenance.
I cant say enough great things about The Auto Shop. I have tried many low-cost & name-brand shops and I have regretted it. The Auto Shop has an *awesome* lifetime guarantee on work that it is done. That is beyond the manufacturers warranty. Whats amazing is that they dont look for problems outside of the work that they have done. Instead, they are looking for ways to fix your car without trying to run your bill up. It is amazing to have a service technician tell you all these things that are wrong with your 12 year old car. I am waiting for the shoe to drop. How much will it cost? He isnt telling me but rather telling me when I can pick up my car. I finally have to ask and he tells me, nothing, this is something that we should have taken care of when you had it in with us 3 months ago. I pick up my car and see a bill for $400+ and all the charges are reversed. To add to the amazement, I mentioned how impressed I was to the owner a few weeks later and he didnt even know it happened. It is company policy! He basically ate $400 in parts and labor and his employees just do it because that it how they do business. Simply Amazing!
I made an appointment for first thing Monday morning and I didnt have to wait for someone to show up to get things rolling on the maintenance for my car. The staff was very nice and they provided me with a ride to my office so I could get my day started. Once my car was ready to go, they picked me up and I was back on the road.I also wanted to mention that I did NOT get that dreaded call that you get from other mechanics.....your whatchamacallit needs replacing, thatll be an additional $899 to replace it..... Very refreshing to go to a mechanic who is looking out for what your vehicle needs and not trying to pad their bills with things that are not necessary.Thank you for being kind and efficient.
The Auto Shop has been nothing short of amazing. Since moving here from out of state we needed to find a good diesel mechanic and someone who we could trust to get the job done right, The Auto Shop has proven to be just the place! They have done multiple oil changes for us and just recently weve had a full transmission service done and our vehicle runs better then ever. I highly recommend this place, and to top it off their customer service is excellent!
I have been using The Auto Shop for over 25 years and have been very pleased with their performance the whole time. My family and I drive used cars and they always seem to need upkeep. There have been a few (maybe 3 or 4 times over the whole 25 years) times when there was a problem with the repair,,but the problem has always been promptly taken care of.at The Auto Shops expense. They really mean ti when the say home of the guaranteed repair. Plus, they have saved me from making a big mistake by checking out the quality of the used car before I bought it.They have also been very good at letting me know what needs to be fixed for safety reasons, what should be fixed for performance reasons and what I can wait to get fixed until a later date.
First of all, this place claims and touts it’s Covid following precautions. I personally observed 2 people without masks at all. And another 2 that constantly pulled theirs down or had it off defeating the purpose. I took my car in at 730 AM for an appointment I had made 2 weeks in advance. I wanted a simple oil change that included a coupon for checks and tire rotation. I called at 3 PM to confirm my car was ready after hearing nothing all day. It was confirmed my car was ready. I arrived around 430 PM and did not see my car outside but assumed it was on the other side or being pulled out shortly. I was called 3 times and texted once 10 mins before my arrival that they needed to talk about my car. I missed the calls due to my phone being on silent from work and in my pocket since I was heading there. These calls started at 415 PM. Mind you this place closes at 530 PM and I had already been told my car was ready for pick up over an hour before the first call. I asked what the issue was and was told he needed to show me. He walked me back to the service area I did not want to go into both because I have massive back issues and kept saying I couldn’t stand or walk for long, which is why I scheduled an appointment for drop off and pick up, and exposure concerns. He never wore a mask while talking to me and then reluctantly put it on when I asked. The mechanic I was near did not have a mask on either. He kept approaching me as I asked him to maintain a proper distance. He showed me a few filters that needed to be changed. I said I’d probably go ahead and do it. He informed me it was too late but I could take it back another day. I was beyond frustrated as I didn’t understand why my car was not ready if the work could not be done. I asked to speak to someone else after I asked this question without answer and was pejoratively called sir. I was directed to the owner that was “finishing up another client” for another 10 mins not acknowledging my presence nor the issue. I asked them why I would want a check without an opportunity to cure the issue. They informed me I could take care of it next time and it wasn’t crucial. As we continued to debate my $91 bill for an oil change and tire rotation with $50 labor, a woman came to clock out without a mask on. She gestured to me and told me to lower my voice. I told her not to talk to me since she wasn’t wearing a mask. She continued to talk and raise her voice at me while I backed away 6 feet. At this point, I was concerned about my exposure so I paid the bill and left. They were not following proper mask/distancing protocols.TLDRCome here if you want to experience :8+ hours of no communication for an oil change to be completed with an appointmentCalling to confirm your car is ready when it’s not then waiting over 30 mins for it to be readyA $91 oil changePeople not maskedUpdates per the response from the owner :1) This is just a lie. I was obviously upset my car was not ready which would make it obvious to most people with common sense I had the expectation it would be ready. No one ever informed me you were short handed nor that my car would not be ready until 5. Actually, no one said anything to me all day after dropping off at 7:30 AM. I called at 3 PM to confirm my car would be ready at 4:00 and was told it was being finished then. I didnt arrive until 4:30.2) It should not take a mishandled customer experience to have an effective communication on timelines. Seems pretty 101 to running an effective automotive business.4) This is about the level of professionalism I expect top down from here. I would have gladly left earlier had my car been ready which it was not.Dont worry I wont be returning but I think its rather generous to call yourself a business. Thanks for the reply on #4 as it really leaves no doubt as to where the problems originate.Ill let people judge for themselves if they want to come to a business that just now realized they need to correctly communicate times for car pick up at an auto shop.
Went in for a simple oil change and inspection, and couldnt have asked for a better experience. The people were friendly and the service was excellent. I have a 2003 Honda with 160K miles, so there is always additional service that should probably be done. They informed me of what services were needed without the hard, pushy upsell a lot of mechanics use. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing service, they accurately diagnosed the problem with my Civic and repaired it in a very timely manner, even provided a complimentary ride to and from my work. Every one of the staff members were very friendly and I had a GREAT experience. I will be coming to them for all future repairs!
Brought my Ranger Impalla in. Both are older cars. The Staff took them both in. On had transmission problems the other a check engine warning light. They were able to figure out the problems and fixed the accordingly. In they case of the of the Impalla. They let me know of a future problem that may needed to be attend to at a later. But for know they would watch it closely. Thy were courtsly and awnsered any questions that I had. I will now be using they for both of my vechiles.
When my radiator fluid drained in a grocery store parking lot, The Auto Shop was the closest place to tow my car. As scary as it is to try a new place in an emergency situation, they made an unfortunate experience as painless as possible. Their service was friendly, transportation to and from my home made it convenient, and my car was repaired in a timely manner, while keeping me effectively updated. Thank you for your help. I will definitely try them again.
The Auto Shop was recommended to us by close friends. I am always wary about auto shops because there is a stereotype of auto shops heavily pushing for unnecessary projects, and I often feel duped by other auto shops or pressured into agreeing to something I dont understand.The Auto Shop is completely different. I have, unfortunately, have had lots of car problems over the last year. The Auto Shop called me to give me estimates prior to doing any work. They contacted my insurance company consistently to hurry the work process, and they kept me up to date on the progress. They have offered to pick me up and bring me to their office, drop me off at work or drop me off back at home - which is so helpful and takes away the stress of trying to coordinate how to get a car to the shop and how to pick it up. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They were also recommended via my AAA card, so it is only an added reassurance that they are a legitimately good business!

They have taken great care of my vehicle, been patient, explained whats going on and dont try to sell me items I do not need. I appreciate the owner and the business more than words can express. Because I am not much of a gear head, I really didnt want to try fixing what turned out to be a very simple issue myself. A co-worker recommended this shop and I gave them a chance. I am so glad I did. The issue was minimal, they didnt try to up sell me or strong arm me into repairs that werent needed at this time; instead they gave me a list of things that need work for me to prioritize. I really appreciate their honesty and professionalism. When it is time to get some of those issues taken care of, I will go back to them and recommend them to all my friends.
I found out about the Auto Shop from reading Google reviews, so I feel it is appropriate that I write my own in hopes people will see this. This place is great. Ill admit I dont have a lot of experience with auto shops, but this is by far the best one Ive had. Very service-oriented, friendly staff that doesnt talk to you like theyre trying to get rid of you as quickly as possible. And the fact that they give you lifts while your car is worked on is very thoughtful (and much appreciated!). Id recommend this place to anyone.
Quality work at very competitive rates. Above board all the way. If their estimate is higher than the actual cost of the work done (parts and/or labor) they actually charge the lesser amount (I know thats hard to believe but its true)! The techs call and advise you of whats going on with your vehicle without any pressure so theres no rude surprises when its time to settle the bill. Fast turn-around every time. I had my care serviced this week and the staff was very professional and kind. Even though nothing could be detected on my vehicle they were kind enough to give me pointers on what might be the issue and what needs to be serviced on my car. I even received a discount since I have Triple A! I highly recommend anybody having issues with their vehicle to make an appointment with this company. You are in great hands!!!
I have been coming here off and on for more than 10 years. After the work they just did on my Cadillac...I am going no where else!!!! I had to have the oil pressure sensor replaced. Was not in the mood to deal with Crest...but that is another Jerry Springer episode. After they did a once over...they found I needed some more work done. They totally took care of me and my car. They even dealt with the extended warranty people for me. They gave me a ride to work. They even offered to give me a ride home to McKinney. Great service!!! Jordan was really nice and great to work with. Jessica at the counter is a sweet heart. The gentleman that drove me to work one morning was a crack up. I cant remember his name but super nice! I already referred a co-worker and she just loved the service. They will let you know what needs to be repaired now and what can wait to repaired later. They will even do a complimentary check up to make sure all is in good working order. They even washed my car!! I cant say enough good things about them!! Just take your car there and experience it for yourself!!
I absolutely LOVE this place! I called in a few minutes before I went in to make sure I could get my inspection done during lunch ... Not only was the person I spoke with courteous and pleasant, she ensured that the technician wasnt on lunch yet. Then when I arrived, they were able to answer my questions about the new registration process. As I was waiting for my inspection to complete (took only 30 minutes) I overheard one of their technicians talking to a customer about her brakes. From what I heard, I feel confident that when I need to have my own vehicle looked at that not only will they be honest about whats needed, but they wont price gouge either! And if all of that wasnt enough to convince you, they give you incentives to refer friends! Seriously --- you should come here for your vehicle needs.
As a nurse I need a vehicle to work when I get called in. After my shift, as I drove home, my engine light came on. I knew I had an upcoming shift the day after. The Auto Shop made sure a major repair was expedited with expertise. In the midst of the shelter in place, their help was essential for me. They made sure that I could be available for the hospital. The staff was very caring about what nurses are facing, right now. If a nurse needs a care repair, these folks know caring science and have mechanical sense.

I have used The Auto Shop for almost 20 years and always recommended them enthusiastically. I will never use them again.We brought a truck in for a pre-purchase inspection. We were aware of issues with the brakes; the shop claimed that they had fixed them. We had several hundred dollars of additional work done based upon this assurance.When we came to pick it up and found that the brakes still didnt work. Further we found that the pre-purchase inspection had missed that the A/C didnt work.I sent an e-mail to the service advisor laying out why I was dissatisfied and what I thought would be an adequate remedy.After hearing nothing, I wrote a letter to the owner with the same information.After hearing nothing, Ill just warn people that whatever The Auto Shop once was, they arent that anymore.==========================================================Edit: As requested by the owner, I attempted to contact him to see if the situation could be resolved. I used this place for years for minor jobs. Used them for a major job recently and found them unacceptable. Inadequate explanation of the solution to the problem leading to guess what--a VERY high recommended repair job. Had to sort it out in my mind as to what needed to happen and what did not. They got a lot of my money-but will never get another cent. My neighbor who took me there to pick up my car told me that years ago she took her car there and they did work that she did not want done. She has a bitter taste for them also. Would not recommend them. Very much money driven. One of the jobs they recommended was a tune up. Gave me a cost of 560.00. Just had the same job done at Mastertech for 185.00.
I visited with Jeff at The Auto Shop when my Taurus needed 02 sensor work. Keith was my mechanic, and discovered a bad intake manifold gasket and faulty powertrain control module. It took several days to fix, but Jeff kept me informed every day on the progress. The work was done professionally and the customer service and follow-up was excellent. I will recommend The Auto Shop to anyone who is tired of being jerked around by typical mechanics.
The Auto Shop came highly recommended so I decided to take my car in for an oil change and a courtesy inspection. What I loved immediately about this place was how clean it was inside (even the garage was spotless) and how friendly everyone was, I mean, the owners office is nothing but windows and right by the front door; he greeted me heartily with a wave and a contagious smile. Im used to auto places having the owners office tucked into some dark corner where the owner hides and hopes no one bothers them, but not not here! The staff was helpful and seemed genuinely concerned about making sure my car was in tip-top shape and my experience there. Im telling my friends and neighbors in the Plano area to take their cars in to The Auto Shop!
I brought my 07 Mustang here to address a problem that wasnt repaired correctly elsewhere. I didnt have an appointment but dropped the car off before 9am and had it back by 5pm. Ive received quotes from other places to have that particular repair done and I ended up having more comprehensive service at The Auto Shop for a comparable rate. Be sure to present your AAA card for discounts. It saved me about $60 on this trip. I feel confident that Im not being jerked around and will continue to bring my car back here. They would have received a 5 star review from me but I found a wrench resting in the groove under my hood (good thing I looked) and the passenger seatbelt on their shuttle car was broken.
I brought my 2009 Subaru Legacy to The Auto Shop after having multiple other shops estimated me $1,700-$2,000 to replace the throw out bearing, which seemed astronomical to me. I contacted The Auto Shop for a quote and was initially impressed with the great customer service and low estimate of $1,000. As a woman who knows cars, it’s typically frustrating for me to go into an auto shop, but I was spoken to like an educated human being and not like a child. They had me bring the car by for a free assessment to make sure it was the throw out bearing that was the issue. They told me they would take a look at the car and call me the next day to discuss my options. I received a call the next morning and they explained that the throw out bearing was bad, but because my car was older, the clutch wasn’t in the best shape either and if I wanted to, they could replace it while they were in there. There was no pressure to do the extra work, I was even advised that if I didn’t plan on keeping the car for very many more years it wasn’t exactly necessary, but I decided while they already had everything taken out, we should go ahead and replace the clutch and flywheel to be proactive, which surprisingly enough only took the price from $1,000 to $1,300/1,400. They told me my CV joints were bad (which I already knew) and they would replace those for the price of parts ($50). They had my car completely finished within 2 days of me dropping it off and they managed to replace my clutch, flywheel, throw out bearing, and two CV joints for $1,450 while other shops were quoting me $2,000 just for the throw out bearing. They even got me an OEM Plus clutch kit. I was kept informed of everything happening the whole time they had my car and they even offered to send me pictures throughout the process. I was beyond impressed with this place. When my husband’s 2003 Ford F-150 died on us on a Saturday morning in Dallas, we had it towed here immediately. We called them the following Monday morning, explained the situation, and they took the truck back to look at it. After a couple days of them attempting to get the truck running, they ultimately decided the motor was totaled. We could really tell they put their full effort into trying to get the truck back to life, it almost seemed personal for them. Once we decided to give up on it, they called and told us they couldn’t consciously charge us the full amount for the work they did because they weren’t successful and they would work on getting the cost down. In the end the price went from $790 to $400. We were immensely grateful as we were already having to spend money on a new truck at that point. They even let us store the truck in the parking lot while we figured out what we were going to do with it. We will be lifetime customers to this place and I will refer everyone I can here.
Gary has always been our family favorite. The whole Auto Shop staff is friendly and really invests in caring for their customers. They are easy to work with and make you feel like youre being treated right. Theyre our trusted family auto-go-to and we highly recommend trying them out!
The Auto Shop is the perfect place for car service and repairs. Ive had the worst luck with finding a great auto service/repair shop that is fast, conveniently located, has good customer service, and reasonable prices. The Auto Shop has all those things. Before I took my car in this morning, I called five different places and had to be placed on a waiting list. The Auto Shop was more than willing to help me that day. I took my car in that morning and the repairs were completed pretty fast! I have finally found an awesome auto service/repair shop that I can go to. I highly recommend The Auto Shop!
Professional guys that get the job done in the time you need. I went in the first time for an alignment, and they had it out in a few hours. The second time was for an oil change, and they were very accommodating even during a tight schedule. They even centered the steering wheel for me ( after I neglected to look at it after the alignment ).. I will keep going back here for the competitive prices, and the quality of the work that they do!
The cleanest auto repair shop every! Including the ladies restroom! All the staff was very friendly and helpful. My adviser made recommendations but wasnt pushy. The technician resolved my issue without using the most expensive remedy. I m a happy customer. Youll have my business in the future.
I will never go back to this place... I used them because they are very close to where I work, but it isnt worth it...I had my 2000 Mustang inspected and they noted that none of the brake lights were working. I let them know that it is almost certainly the switch on the pedal and that I had fixed it myself a couple times and the last time had it professionally repaired. When I did it, myself, the switch was loose so I just reconnected and used electrical tape to hold in place, in under 10 minutes, no tools required from what I remember. When they fix it? They replaced all of the bulbs, the switch, and charged $115.48 in labor.
The Auto Shop is my go to place for all my car maintenance and repairs. I know that I can trust them and that they will not try to do repairs that are not needed. They do a great job and in a reasonable amount of time so that it fits my schedule too. I wont take my vehicles anywhere else.
Our car just did not start all of a sudden! Luckily we could jump start with mechanic nearby. He diagnosed it as the starter problem. Then it happened again! we call the tow help and his analysis said t is the connections needed cleaning!! Finally he jump started.We took the car to The Auto Shop. The staff were friendly and mechanics able to diagnose the problem quickly. The battery was dead!!!The other two guys gave different opinions, but the Auto Zone mechanic explained and clarified all our doubts. Our car was repaired in a timely manner and they even washed my car.This is an awesome auto service and repair shop that i can always relay on.
It was overwhelming to find a good and reasonable priced mechanic other than the dealership. I found Auto Shop on the way to work and decided to give them a try. It was my first experience I found them to be thorough & professional. Great service and definitely planning on coming back for my future repair maintenance needs.
Friendly and honest is the one thing I can say for The Auto Shop. I was in for an oil change and state inspection. As Jerry was inspecting the undercarriage of my car he noticed that ALL of the bolts holding the exhaust system to the car were loose. He tightened the bolts which I am certain will help avoid the exhaust system dropping off while driving the car. Thanks Jerry and thanks Auto Shop for hiring a competent worker.
Must admit that The Auto Shop can find the defects better than I can,have a 1996 Suburban, they help keep it running. Wish I had known about this shop years before.The Auto Shop employees are great, Jerry is funny and it is a pleasureto take the cars to someone who really does repairs and keep you updated on the progress and the cost.
If I could give 0 stars I would.I had to get my car fixed and they have such horrible customer service. Im not sure why AAA has them as a preferred place to have you car fixed there!They told me they would give me a call in a couple of hours after they take a look at it and after a couple of hours passed, I called them and they literally forgot about me! Not only that, the price they quoted me wasnt even in the same ballpark as what other independent shops would charge. Whats even more insulting is the quote was so much higher than the dealer would charge. Thats ridiculous! You figure independent shops would charge less than the dealer but not in this case! I ended up taking my car to be fixed by a real and fair auto shop.I would not recommend this place. Horrible customer service and they charge so much more!
Weve been using The Auto Shop for almost 16 years now, since moving to the area, and have never been disappointed. They fix it right the first time and took care of the one warranty issue we had on a repair no questions asked. The folks at the check-in desk are always up-beat and are very aware that, most of the time, you dont really want to be there so they go out of their way to let you know they are there to take care of you. On this last visit, Ivelisse took care of us and shop-owner Jerry even asked me to take him for a test drive to make sure they understood the nature of the rattle I was asking them to fix. Their techs are all excellent, but our personal favorite is Mike. Knows his stuff backwards and forwards. They even offer shuttle service to get you where you need to go if you have to leave your car with them. Thank you, Jerry! Great job, always!
So as a women I do a lot of research in auto shops before I take it anywhere. I have gone to places where they come up with car issues to try to get more money out of me because they think I know nothing about cars. Well the Auto Shop treats me like a person with a car problem, not a chick they can scam.The technician called me and we had a good chat about my car and I talked through the troubleshooting I had done before taking the car in, so they didnt do any unnecessary testing. Then he told me an estimate of cost and the price. The pricing here is very reasonable.When it comes to minor repairs, I will probably still do them myself but when it comes to major repair work, I trust that the Auto Shop will do great work and offer me a reasonable price for the repairs.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff that wait on you without delay. Theyll make you a fresh cup of coffee too. Shop is clean, orderly, and big. Theyll walk you to your car which is up on the rack to show you what is wrong, and explain your options such as: (1) what needs to be repaired immediately, and (2) what can wait a bit. I decided to just have performed that day what was making my car a hazard to drive. Parts were ordered and car repaired in under 90 minutes (perhaps closer to one hour). I have used The Auto Shop since the late 90s. Jerry and his staff are so competent and always follow through. No leftover screws, no forgotten lockdowns, no missing property, and no shakedowns. Just good honest folks who happen to fix cars and such with excellence.Plus the waiting lobby has a toy filled play area, a desk with wifi and its so very clean everywhere. The floors arent slick and theres no latent motor oil scent like other places. Plus they wash your car when theyre done!
I recommend this shop to anyone wanting honest and speedy service without the typical hussle.Ladies, this is an autoshop you can depend on to give you honest diagnosis of your vehicles without having to worry about being takenadvantage of.I had my Yukon repaired there and the staff was honest (I already knew what the problem was before taking it in) and not pushy about trying to sale unnecessary parts or services. Repairs were done quickly and they even washed it for me before I came in to pick it up.All American staff and all factory American parts, it honestly felt great to get such good and friendly service.
I have experience many car repair places over the years, and I can honestly say The Auto Shop is the best Ive seen. Their shop is clean and the staff professional. They will show you what is wrong (or take pictures!) and give you an honest synopsis of what truly needs to be repaired. Their prices are reasonable and the repairs are warranted. An oil change is an oil change, right? Wrong! An oil change with service is an experience to enjoy and The Auto Shop is top notch. I love a place where the owner cares enough and takes the time to really train the employees in how to treat customers - it adds so much value to what would otherwise be a mundane transaction. The extra touches are great - the hanging monkey put a smile on my face and who doesnt need an extra smile in their day?!

I wouldnt trust anyone else with my vehicles. I trust that not only will the work be the highest quality, but they are honest. My oldest daughter just began driving last year and I have peace of mind that shes driving in a car that has been inspected and worked on by the best.
This is the next best thing to having Dad or Grandpa fix your car! The service is great, the folks are friendly. One of the things I like is that the person in charge of YOUR vehicle will come and sit down with you in the nice waiting room and go over everything with you, discuss the needed repairs and tell you the cost.. No surprises. No tricks. I always leave with full faith and trust that my car is going to run as well as it possibly can until my next regularly scheduled visit to The Auto Shop! I just feel sorry for folks in the towns in Texas that dont have The Auto Shop!!

All the people at The Auto Shop go out of their way to make you feel welcome & at ease! When I dropped my car off at 7:30 am they knew I was in a rush to get myself & little girl to school on time, 7:45, they made it happen! Taxi.Throughout the day they kept me updated on my car & never did any work until I had approved.Upon arrival to pick up my car I was pleasantly surprised to find a cute fuzzy hot pink monkey hanging from my rear view mirror. It was a nice touch to what had been a very long week. Ive decided the monkey stays because he brightens my day.Bottom line, The Auto Shop cannot be beat in Customer Service or Quality Work on your vehicle.
I was very satisfied with the service and repair on my Cadillac. It had given me many problems with various items that needed to be repaired or replaced. First, I must say that I was surprised at how amazingly clean The Auto Shop is at the front counter AND where they work on the cars. They did a brake inspection and showed me the reports so that I could choose for myself what I wanted done. They even took pictures of the pads so I could see if they had been worn down or not.Since then Ive had all my repairs done at The Auto Shop, including basic things like oil changes.I highly recommend recommend this shop. If you get a chance to speak with the owner he is sure to give you a laugh or at least put a smile on your face. :)
POOR SERVICE, OVERPRICEDMy BMW 535i was heavily leaking oil and I had it towed to The Auto Shop on AAA’s recommendation. I was hesitant in paying the $135 diagnostics fee because other shops have never charged me to look at my car.I was then told it would cost $500 to fix the problem. I thought that’s not bad and gave my approval. After taking my car apart, they told me they made a mistake and ordered the wrong part and it would now cost $1,082. I did not appreciate the price change. This is not a way to do business and this just tells me they don’t know what they’re doing, but overall, that’s just not cool.I called All German Repair, a highly-rated business that obviously specializes in German cars. They actually quoted me $200 less! So I had the car towed there and learned that after taking my car apart, The Auto Shop just threw the parts in the trunk without the hardware to reassemble it. That’s just borderline vindictive. In addition, All German Repair told me the auxiliary fan was removed by someone who didn’t know what they were doing, and was cracked in the process. Turns out it’s an amateur mistake made by shops who don’t specialize in German cars. That’s a $895 part by the way.I went to The Auto Shop with a positive attitude hoping they would be willing to accept some responsibility. I asked to speak to the owner Jerry right behind me sitting in his glass office who looked reasonable and might work with me. That was not an option. Instead I got the supervisor, Erica, who is only nice when taking your credit card number. My positivity was instantly met with negativity. What can you do, some people are just like that. Probably from dealing with all the customer complaints. Why you would put someone like that in charge I have no idea. When I mentioned 1-star reviews, Erica said they only have four 1-star reviews. Well I just counted and theres fifteen (soon to be sixteen) 1-star reviews.I guess it will have quadrupled since she last checked. Needless to say, they were less than helpful. Erica assured me they don’t make mistakes, even though they made the earlier mistake of ordering the wrong part.Anyway, I apologize for the length of this review, but you should know what kind of people you’re dealing with. If you need more convincing, just read the other 1 star reviews. I should have known not to take a high-performance sports car to a place with Transformers painted on the window :-/
Dropped off car in the morning and received a prompt and courteous phone call about 2 hours later; detailed description of work needed immediately and some repairs to plan for down the road, car was ready two hours before time promised and within budget numbers agreed upon. I like their timely communication, clean work and waiting areas and fair price. Will return for next routine maintenance and future repairs.
My husband referred me to The Auto |Shop on account of he was very satisfied with the work that was done to his Bronco, personal dept and location.First step in the door the front area is very clean including the bathrooms. The two front young women are very nice and efficient, as they manage to check you in and out as quickly as possible, as they multitask..Also hats go off to Rob and may I include the mechanics you have working at the bay stations. Everyone I interacted with was very courteous, helpful, and honest. The employee who worked on my vehicle, Robbie, went out of his way to make sure he did everything he did to cut costs while still effectively correcting all the things that were wrong with my engine. When I came to pick up my car, he walked me through my bill and explained what every charge was for and why it needed to be fixed. Very helpful bunch of people!
They were able to fix my 1990 Audi 100 to my satisfaction (needed a water pump & timing belt - and I had requested that specific brands were used). They even gave me a ride home! Repair was completed on-time and under budget (they are AAA approved - so the extra discount also helps!).
Took my 2001 Mustang in for A/C repair and was told it would take 1 day and that they would use after market parts to keep the cost down so I agreed to the repairs. 3 days later I was still waiting for my car to be completed and was now being told that after trying 15 different modules that the only one that would work was the one directly from Ford which cost me over $100 than originally quoted. By now its Friday and I had to run over there during my lunch break to pay for the repairs. In the rush I forgot to give them my AAA card so that I could get my discount. By the time I realized it they were closed. I called them 1st thing the next business day and spoke to the manager Robbie and was basically told to bad and refused to issue a credit. (The only reason I used them because AAA recommended them). Apparently this guy needs some customer service training. After not only keeping my car for an extra 2 days and charging me more than originally quoted the very least he could have done is issue the AAA discount. I will not use them again and I will never recommend anyone to use them either.
I took my car to The Auto Shop in March for a basic oil change. They did a general overview of my vehicle at no charge to me, and I was so pleased that the service writer told me in detail what was wrong with my vehicle and showed me pictures as well. When I came back to pick up my car they had washed it for free!! I was very pleased with the service.
This one star is for Jeremy. I will give the Auto Shop 3.5 stars. I thought I found my garage until yesterday. The reason I will probably never return is due to the mechanic named Jeremy. He was a total ass and shouldnt be allowed to interact with customers. The incident started when Jeremy stated my jeep had been wrecked since the last time he worked on it at the Auto Shop. I immediately went out to investigate his claim. I looked at the Jeep and cheerfully informed him the jeep was in the same condition it was in the last time he worked on it. Jeremy proceeded to argue with me about it. He was absolutely wrong and obviously couldnt handle it. Then he turns to me and rudely ask me what my point in arguing about it was. I just turned away and left. Any garage where a mechanic is unwilling to listen and then turns to intimidation to make his point, is not my garage.
This is by far the best auto shop Ive ever used. The mechanics are honest and have never tried to overcharge or get me to add in unnecessary repairs or extras. Ive been using this shop for over 10 years and have never had a single complaint. Excellent service every single time.
We had been having dreadful A.C. problems with our Nissan Versa. Its summertime in Texas and we needed to have our A.C. fixed ASAP! Unfortunately, we had previously had A.C. problems and taken it to other auto shops who had fixed it but it continued to have issues. We decided to try Auto Shop because of the great reviews and we are so glad we did! Absolutely phenomenal customer service and our A.C was not only fixed, but its the coldest its ever been! Were very pleased with our service. We would definitely recommend it to a friend. Thanks yall!
I’m so frustrated right now. I went in to The Auto Shop in Plano and asked to have my car serviced for the 60K mile maintenance. I sat there patiently for over an hour. At some point we discussed a small issue that my car had that wasn’t related to the maintenance. One of the employees suggested that I take it in to the dealership instead because it may have been under warranty. I paid $200 and left. Everyone was nice and I thought things were great. I even rated the place 5 stars before leaving. A few hours later I’m at the Mazda Dealership and I’m discussing the issue with them. Apparently, the issue isn’t covered under warranty. The transaxle is different from the transaxle control which is not to be confused with the transaxle computer. Just so that you’re not confused the latter two aren’t covered under the 60K mile warranty. (There was a lot more to that but I don’t even know where to start.) Before leaving I get a breakdown of the potential costs, $300. Okay, that’s fine. But, as I’m leaving I asked the receptionist to repeat something for me. “Did you say that the filters need to be changed? But I just got them changed.” She walks to the back and gets the notes from the technician. “No, he recommends that the filters be changed.” Now I’m silently freaking out. I show her the invoice of the first place I went to and she mentioned that they should have been changed as part of the scheduled maintenance. As I’m driving to the next place I’m doing my best to keep my cool. This is all on me. I should have skipped college and gone to trade school, or at least listened to my father about how to change this and that on my car. I arrive at the Auto Shop, again, and explain what just happened at the dealership. Apparently, only the cabin air filter was changed not the other filter(s). ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW? I couldn’t hold it together, I cried. It’s all about TRUST. Who do you trust? What do you do? Everyone I dealt with was kind, but after $500 ($300 which I still need to pay) I still don’t know if everything I paid for has been taken care of and, more importantly, when will it happen again? Lessons learned!
2006 Jeep Liberty had problems with the ignition switch. It seemed like a pretty straight forward fix, but part of the steering column was broken where the ignition switch mounted. The Auto Shop located a part to fix the steering column for an affordable price and mounted the new ignition switch. Replacing the steering column would have been very costly, so I was happy the Auto Shop was able to find a smaller, more affordable solution.Plus they offer a 10% AAA discount for parts and labor, so that was a nice bonus.
I inherited a classic 1975 Corvette Stingray. Not knowing what shape the engine was in, I took it to my friend Jerry at The Auto Shop. Man was that the right idea. The Auto Shop inspected the car from number to bumper and provided me with detailed photographs of areas of concern or in need of repair. The repairs were made timely and within the initial cost estimate. From now on this vehicle will only be serviced at The Auto Shop.
On the way to work a few weeks ago, my car was not acting right so I drove right over to The Auto Shop having been a previous customer for years. They told me they could look at my car and Clinton would give me a ride to work. They called me a few hours later with the problem and was able to fix it by the end of the day. It was great!
The auto shop has done service on all of my familys cars at one time or another. They are good about getting the car done the same day if it is an easily fixable problem, and communicate options well with customers. I would recommend the auto shop for anyone in the dallas area with a vehicle needing repairs.
If you care about wearing masks to prevent COVID, do not take your business here. As of March 8, none of the employees were wearing masks indoors. Abbott did not end the mask mandate until March 10.Obviously, after March 10, they are not breaking any laws if they dont wear masks, but for those who still care about their own health and the health of others, regardless of when the mandate ended, none of the employees (at least 4 of them that I saw) were wearing a mask.
Decided to stop by this place to get help with my car engine/exhaust sound issue. Staffs were friendly and quick to the action. Manager advised of the issue (which was not too serious I believe) and took care of it within 20 minutes, free of charge. I will definitely come back to this place for any of my familys car issues and would recommend this place to anyone.
This place has AMAZING customer service along with very fast repair times. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to get a vehicle inspection or have any work done on their car. After they even give you a little stuffed animal monkey with a coupon for your next visit and offer road side assistance good up to 1 year after your fist visit.
Outstanding service and troubleshooting skills. I have driven by The Auto Shop since the 90s and this was my first time I needed their help. I messed up trying to make a repair myself to a 23 year pickup and they found the mistake very quickly and corrected it. I will be back again for sure. My thanks to the friendly staff.
After we recently moved from SW Florida to Plano, one of the headlamps of our 07 New Beetle went out. We had just been here for two weeks and thus knew no car repair places. I had been searching online for a local car repair garage until one day I received a The Auto Shop coupon newsletter in my mailbox that offers a discount $25 off any repair. I decided to give it a try! They said the headlamp connection came loose during our recent relocation, and they put the assembly back in, everything was working. I was pretty happy with the result.However, only less than 3 weeks later. I found the same headlamp they fixed went out again! Then on someones recommendation, I took it to another place called VDubs in Plano, there they said my headlamp assembly lever/lock was broken, and that is why the lamp assembly got shaken loose again on the road. They said probably whoever worked on it last time didnt know much about VW Beetle and just broke it! I also found that the black plastic seal around the lamp was also broken.I paid almost 50 bucks at this place to fix a small problem, then not only was the problem not fixed but now I have a bigger problem and gotta replace the whole lamp assembly for at least $300!
By far, customer service was great! Our truck was washed when we picked it up with a thank you little money hanging from our mirror(Its the little things that count!). The price was also great. We shopped around and compared pricing and it was better than other places. We will definitely be coming back!

I had to get a part fixed for my car and for some reason it was acting up again a few months later. I went in and told them about it and they fixed it up without any trouble at all. Great service. Plus, they send out a monthly newsletter that has facts and tips about random things in life, like some healthy snacks you can try. Its a great way to learn about new things.
Very friendly staff. Also, the technicians are knowledgeable and responsible. They dont try and scam you just to get more money. Their prices are reasonable, and they offer a AAA discount. They know cars and they know customers; so it should be no surprise that theyve been rolling for 34 years.

2022-03-07So, this is my new to me 300. I ❤️ my car! After purchase I took it to the dealership because one of my a/c blower motors was whistling and it needed servicing. It was so expensive and I dont usually complain, but it was way above what I anticipated. Since then, we have taken all of our vehicles to The Auto Shop and we have been so pleased! We are new to the area and our son in law works for a dealership back home and has always taken care of our vehicles. I am so relieved to have someone local we can trust. I highly recommend for all of your auto needs!

2022-02-07Ive only ever had wonderful experiences at The Autoshop. The entire staff is courteous and respectful. Any car issues I have, I take it straight to them. Although, on the more expensive side, it is worth the quality service you receive. Once they check your vehicle, they let you know exactly what needs to be done and give you your out the door price quote. They will also give you a call after the work has been done to make sure your car is running smoothly. They are truly amazing.

2021-08-12I used to go to the dealership for repairs and maintenance but even with an appointment the dealership would take waaaaay too long and dont get me started about their pricing. Now I take my 2 cars to the Auto Shop and am very happy with their expertise at diagnosis, speed of repair, and price.

2021-11-11The first time I brought one of my cars to The Auto Shop was almost 20 years ago. Ever since then, The Auto Shop has always been my first choice for routine maintenance and services. Theyre on a positive experience streak because I havent had a single bad experience in all of the years that Ive been going there. Theyve always been cordial and polite. Theyve always fully answered any questions that Ive had. Theyve always been punctual and gotten my car in and out when they said they would. And even when I had a concern/issue, it was quickly, and more importantly satisfactorily, resolved. Im pretty picky. The fact that I still use them after almost 20 years is a testament to their customer-centric and quality service. The Auto Shop is a great reminder of why I always prefer small and family-owned businesses over large corporate chains. I really do appreciate them and the work they do.This is the first review Ive ever written, and probably the last, but its one that I felt was long overdue.

2021-12-24I’m from out of state and only in town for a short time, so when my brakes started grinding, I knew I was in trouble. The Auto Shop was strongly recommended to me and the friendly folks there fixed me up and had me on my way in no time! They even gave me a lift while I was waiting to having the service done. Nice people. Great job on my brakes, too!

2022-05-28Been having a problem with some vibration and noise in the front drivers side wheel area, figured it was bearing related. Took my F-150 to two Ford dealers and they have a policy to leave it with them until the tech can look at it - 5 to 7 days. That was just to diagnose and a quoted 3 - 5 days to repair after that. Not the case at The Auto Shop, Diagnosed within hours after drop off and despite the parts being on a national back order from Ford, fixed same day after finding the part. This place is my new repair place. Highly recommend.

2022-04-10Great customer service!Amended: Sorry to disappoint but this review was meant for another shop that actually replaced my camshaft position sensor and charged me $40 less than you quoted. Your comment about my safety doesnt make sense in this case, the other shop replaced my sensor because they cared about my safety, you wouldnt which essentially kept me at risk. Your person told me outright it was about me not complaining in the future about you replacing a part that wasnt necessary. And lastly, you said youd call and no one did.
