As someone who has lived here for 15 months and just renewed for another 12, I thought Id share the review I reserved for Move-out.Now this review will be honest and categorized for you all to dissect what you need.Management:There is new management as of very recent. The Property manager (Melissa) is as nice as can be and the others are prompt with answering the phone and my questions.Understand rent is due the first the month and late after the third and you will have NO problems. Seriously. The old management? 4 months ago and beyond I absolutely agree with the old reviews, though.Communication:All done through the Mobile Doorman app. Youre notified through it of any maintenance, events they hold, promos, and complex news. Confidential messages are emailed, or communicated through phone calls.Environment:Lawn care and trimmings are a little frequent (I BELIEVE they work on that around 9-11am...I work nights so Im not entirely sure.) But definitely worth how good they take care of the place. Seriously...Outside is REALLY clean compared to any complex Ive lived in from Marine Creek, to Roanoke, to Westworth.Maintenance:Done through the app or website. Quick. Easy? Idk Im out of adjectives, ha. Its good. Theyre nice and I know them by name.Amenities:Standard gym tbh but the dog parks are pretty nice to sit down with guests. Also, the grills are pretty cool to have near the playground. One car garages with space for a workbench or motorcycle as well.Opinion:Ive got no complaints from Phase 1 ( The left half of the complex.) Really. Its quiet here on Park Hill Dr. I Stayed for another year while I build my career because I can trust that I can close my garage behind me, walk up my stairs, and sleep in peace. I cant stress enough how absolutely easy it is to exist here with the new management. (Can you tell how much I didnt like the old?)Tldr: I like, I stay. Thanks for the read! :)- Isaac M
Cecelia and Maria in the office were always super helpful and fun! I dont really have any complaints about the experience living here, as it was mostly hassle free. That being said, I would like to echo the numerous other comments on here about the management company. Crest Asset absolutely will nickel and dime you upon move out. As they have so kindly responded to a fellow reviewer, they do provide a move out charge list, but will go above and beyond to charge as much as possible from that list. Despite no damage beyond normal wear and tear, I was strong-armed into paying a full carpet replacement, citing heavy traffic. Any company practicing any good faith would have simply cleaned the carpet to restore it to like new condition, which I would have paid without any complaints. This part is very important: if you choose to fight the charges, you will be sent to collections and they will attempt to damage your credit! Please be aware that upon move out, you will be forced to pay whatever they say, which for me was right up to the point where time and money for legal action would cause more frustration than it was worth. Would happily join in on any class action lawsuit against Crest Asset in the future, as clearly I am not alone in my experience.
After living at the Berkeley Apartments for a year I am able to write an honest review. I have never experienced a bad interaction with any of the staff members. The front office staff are amazingly kind. Specifically Maria, and Cecelia. The grounds workers are always smiling and saying hello. I recently lost my key fob to my car while walking my dogs and a grounds worker found it and turned it into the front office for me. They have always responded in a timely manner to any maintenance request or questions. The best part about The Berkeleys is how dog friendly they can be. Not only do all the staff love the animals who are residents here but they also do not discriminate on the breed. Instead of having breed restrictions they have doggie interviews, which is extremely forward thinking. There are many other perks to living here but I suggest visiting the complex to see for yourself. Overall the community here is one of a kind.
My partner and I moved here from out of town, and therefore were unable to do a tour of the facilities. Luckily the pictures look as good as the actual complex.Pros:Beautiful complex. Moving in was a breeze, the front desk is very professional.Maintenance was always fast to respond. In the two years we lived there we only ever had an issue with the garbage disposal and ac, both were were fixed within a day or two.The apartment is modern and clean.Nice, dark countertops, stainless steel fridge, and a HUGE shower that my 63 partner could even take a bath in. We definitely enjoyed our time here.Great location. Quick access to downtown, medical district and 10-15 minutes away from Lockheed, 20-30 from ATT stadium.Never saw a bug or mosquito in the two years I was there. (An occasional wasp, but thats normal for the summer)Two awesome pools (though we never used them much)Cons:Gym is nothing to brag about.AT&T is the only internet available and they are maxed out at 50 mbps. I understand 50 is more than efficient, but were a family of gamers, so wish we could have more. The train is LOUD! You get used to it, but it goes directly behind the complex. My car was broken into multiple times. Ive even had a cop call me because they stole my backpack out of my car and arrested the culprit. Unsurprisingly enough, it was the train conductor who called the cops and identified the criminal. Thats how close the train is. Luckily they have had cops/security patrolling at night and that seems to have resolved a lot of the issues.Parking can be rough on weekend nights, but there is upgraded/paid parking options available. The gate/fob situation is terrible. Ive had to replace my fob every few months. Eventually I got tired of going to the office, so like most people I would just wait for somebody to exit to get in. They really need to fix it.Neutral:This community is mostly young adults. We never had any issues with loud noises or parties from the TCU kids. But you rarely see children playing, its mostly young adults running/walking their dogs. Not a bad thing, I actually prefer that, but just a note.Overall:I really enjoyed my two years at the Berkley and would definitely recommend it. Only reason we left was to get a two bedroom closer to my partners work, and for faster internet.I heard they nickel & dime you when you leave, but we didnt encounter and issues with that. (although we took care of our apartment pretty well).
I highly recommend living at The Berkeley. I’ve never personally experienced such outstanding customer service at an apartment complex. Cecelia Castillo is one of the senior leasing consultants, and she answered any questions I had in a timely manner well before I put down a deposit. Cecelia processed my paperwork carefully, thoroughly, and in a timely manner to meet my move in date requirements. She also made sure maintenance was at my apartment in less than ten minutes when I had a rather urgent request. The maintenance staff, Jesus and Miguel, were also incredibly helpful. They answered all of my questions after their work was done. I know some of the reviews posted list areas of improvement, which I cannot speak for based on my experience. However, I think the fact that The Berkeley reaches out to the people leaving these reviews says a lot. If you’re interested in living here, call the office and ask for Cecelia!
As someone who lived in this complex over 3 years, I can promise you moving out and the cost of moving was so worth it. Absolutely the worst management and most unprofessional office manager I’ve ever dealt with. If you plan on resigning, know that your rate will be much higher than what they advertise on their website. They do not work with you nor do they care and they are extremely sneaky and lazy. There are cockroaches all throughout the complex so pest control is constantly spraying and the walls are super thin, so you will hear everything your neighbor is doing (especially if they’re above you). Everything constantly breaks because it’s such an old and cheaply built complex: AC, toilet, blinds, etc. Also know that tons of non-tenants use the pools and fitness centers constantly so you’re always fighting for a spot at either (which you pay for and they don’t). Many car break ins and robberies happened at this complex in my time there and it’s not a truly secure unless you pay for an attached garage. I could keep going with the negative comments but this complex has wasted enough of my time and youth. If you have just moved in or already signed your lease.... GodspeedIn response to the Berkeley’s response: my rent did in fact increase each year. I have a copy of every single lease agreement with the complex starting in 2017 and the rate did go up every time. Keep documentation of everything if you live here: leases, emails, bank statements, etc.
The Berkeley was my home from June 2020through July 2021 and I could not ask for a betterplace to live. I spent a lot of time working fromhome last year, and the apartment was socomfortableThe staff up front have alwavs been professionaland quick to reply when I had questions. Themaintenance team works hard and professionallas wellools are both fantastic and I especiallenjoyed the hot tub. My patio was probablyfavorite part of the apartment. Spacious, privateand shaded it was my oasis through the fall andspring monthswould recommend this place to anvbody andwould gladly return if the opportunity arises again
Renter Beware! I had an issue with a toilet running and ended up with a large water bill. While I worked to understand why I had this large bill of $108, the Berkleys policy is to assess a late fee on 10% of my rent while we discussed this unusual bill. Within 17 hours of our discussion, they charged me a late fee of $150 on my $108 water bill. Even though I agreed to pay the water bill, they would not budge on ridiculous late fee. Wow!!I would not recommend this place to anyone.
For starters, Im usually not the type to write reviews about anything. However, I felt as though I need to do my due diligence and warn*** those looking to live here.I want to highlight that the issue is with the Crest Management and not the actual apartments of the Berkeley. The amenities are good for the most part, rent is fair, and the location is decent.I lived at the Berkeley for three years and they switched management about halfway through my time there. I really appreciated how the old management used to have breakfast for us every now and then, pool parties, and even a big Christmas party at the end of the year. They would even bake fresh cookies every day and leave them out for the residents and future potential residents. They really went the extra mile. Now with the current management, I wouldnt say they are rude...I just dont think they care that much about customer service or putting effort toward retaining the residents. They even have high school kids sneak into the pools pretty much every day and the pool is next to the leasing office. If youre looking to find an apartment complex that has events for their residents every now and then, then this isnt the place for you.The main issue my roommate and I had with the management is that when moving out they delivered minuscule charges, such as a few burnt out lightbulbs, minor soap suds on the cabinets (from cleaning our apartment), and having the dirt in the triangle portion of the washer where you pour your soap. These are just a few examples, but they added up to quickly be over a $300. I understand being charged for old carpet and worn out coils on the oven, but when its minor things that the cleaning team is going to wipe up anyway, why charge the residents for it? When I asked the manager about it, he just referred me to the contract and wouldnt answer my follow up questions.Hopefully the Crest Management starts paying attention to their low reviews and does something about it to better the experience for their residents.
UPDATE: I was able to work with the office, and after voicing concerns about the practices, things were MUCH better. Shasta has done everything in her power to turn this into a positive experience, and she has. The property really is in the best location, and have great apartments, so I am glad they took the step to right this wrong.Very disappointed with the staff in the office. The manager is good, but the leasing agents are sassy and dont care about current residents. Ive lived here for years and when the leasing agents promise to help you upgrade or find an upgrade in person you are then told later to just look online and theres no way I can remember what everyone wants so you have to keep looking for yourself. This was after being told i would be notified when a two bedroom on the first floor would be available (the ones currently available were on higher floors and I instead made it clear I am waiting for a first floor. Or so I thought I made it clear.) It doesnt seem that difficult to have a list running or spreadsheet for what current residents are looking for to upgrade, but apparently their job is to only help new residents find their perfect apartment..... not the best customer service but unfortunately the location is great.Edit: Maria has now not only been rude, sassy, passed me around to other people in the office when she felt like she didn’t want to work, and now lied about policies. Loved the previous management but this is getting old fast.
My husband and I lived here for a year and decided not to renew our lease because we had a baby on the way, my job was shut down due to covid and I was 9 months pregnant and we needed some more space. We gave the apartment a 60 day notice that we would not be renewing. We received an email of them accepting our notice along with a final account statement. They tried to charge us a $1000 reletting fee? Even though we stayed for our entire lease? Along with charges for painting, carpet, and $500 for 2 lightbulbs? Even though we gave notice. I offered to pay our balance if they would just take off the reletting fee. They refused and sent a balance of almost $3000 to collections. I called collections in order to settle with them and I was informed that they had told them we broke our lease. We did not break our lease. We were there for the entirety of our lease and I have every document proving it. I have disputed it with the collection agency, and contacted the housing authority. BE CAREFUL RENTING HERE. They will try and screw you financially. Also on several occasions the office manager would randomly just let himself into our apartment without a heads up, which is very unsettling for a young girl who was home alone at the time. Please consider renting elsewhere, where they are more professional and considerate of their tenants.
I am a current resident of 1 year and have just renewed. I have had nothing but great experiences with my unit and the entire staff!!The grounds are always kept so well, and clean and this is a BIG place!I would like to specifically highlight their current Maintenance Manager, Joey. I have seen him on numerous occasions walking throughout the property picking up any trash, keeping things looking nice, etc. but today i drove past as he was adding mulch to a flower bed and making the landscaping look so nice! in his OFFICE work clothes!! They have plenty of Maintenance staff and this shows me that he is a manager who takes pride in his property and CARES.I work in Property Management myself but for a different company. Trust me when I say.. this is hard to come by in an employee!! I highly commend Joey and the rest of the Berkeley Staff!!! I would recommend living here to anyone I know. :)
I’ve lived at the Berkeley for almost 5 years and have had a pleasant experience in regards to the apartment itself, but agree with the other reviews that voice concerns about poor management. Overall it just feels like there has been a drastic is decline in resident appreciation since I first moved in... for example, the leg press and stationary bike in the gym have been broken for YEARS. When I asked if they could be fixed I was told that it’s “like pulling teeth to get management to fix anything” and therefore unlikely. There are much newer apartments nearby for a similar cost, first class amenities, and probably actually listen to resident feedback. The Berkley needs to recognize that soon and start addressing minor concerns similar to mine otherwise myself and others will probably move to the shiny new apartments around the corner.
I have lived at The Berkeley for a year. The Leasing Agents are excellent! Maria, Traci, and Jennifer are always friendly. They are professional, knowledgeable, and maintain a positive attitude. The manager, Joey, has also been helpful. He got me in to see him immediately when I had a question about my rent. He clarified the issue for me quickly.
Cecilia is the best. She went above and beyond to get me the apartment that I wanted. She always answers emails as soon as possible. Best apartments I have ever lived at! Go check out these apartments and ask for Cecilia. She will not let you down! Also maintenance is the best!
Cecily were awesome 👏🏾 she’s very very professional she helped me and my companion out every step of the way . I’m new to the city and she also recommended all the companies I needed to make my transition very easy. It felt great to get a warm welcome. I would refer anyone to the Berkeley and I would recommend Cecilia to be their leasing agent. Very Very excited 😆 to be a new resident at The Berkeley in Fort Worth
Coming from home ownership and then moving to this place to attend grad school has been rough. Overall the apartments are nice, maintenance is quick to respond, and the gym/pool are nice. That being said, the residents are a bunch of kids that speed at 40 MPH through the parking lot, leave beer cans all over, let their dogs poop everywhere, and are generally inconsiderate of their neighbors. I give props to the maintenance guys that clean up after these children. The rent is higher than market comparisons for the area. The management does the bare minimum in maintenance repairs. Ive had the same mold issue manifest itself in the same place several times and management has refused to take proper mold mitigation measures to ensure resident health (they like to shift blame saying they cant tell maintenance what to do). Back when I used to live in apartments before I owned a home, late fees were not charged until well into the month and were $25 max. Even my mortgage didnt pester you until the 15th (which I never reached and I have an excellent credit history/score). These people charge $100 as soon as possible while making absolutely zero concessions. I will admit they waived the fee once before I renewed my lease. However, it has happened again on my new lease and they refuse. I can admit to shouldering some of the blame for this but they treat you like a petulant child. I had the money, it was paid immediately once the error was realized, and theyre just trying to nickel and dime you for all youre worth. Theyre extremely difficult to get a hold of and will ignore your calls and emails until you go down to the office where they cant ignore you. Then the manager hides in the back of the office because theyre too afraid to own up to anything while the front desk people have the deal with everything.I cant wait for my lease to be up and to get back into a mortgage where I wont be throwing money away.
Overall a nice community with good amenities including the pools and the small gym. The rent is a bit high for the quality of appliances and cabinetry. They also have a pretty big issue with kids from the nearby high school/neighborhoods jumping the fence and using the pool. Management hasnt done a good job of addressing this issue or having any security measures to prevent it further. It has become quite the nuisance during the summer.
Please listen to me, before you agree or sign up read all the fine print... & maybe read it twice. You can not depend on the answers the managers give you either read it for yourself. Maybe take a family or Friend with you to verify all documents before signing or finalizing anything. Read everything for yourself. If your unsure of these apartments don’t put any money down because you only have an allotted time frame or you can not get your money back. The staff in the from can be very rude about handling business as well. Be very for sure you want to move in before you signs or put any of your money down. Read everything they give you, & make sure you have time. Meet the management team to make sure after you read the application if you have any trouble or concerns before you decide to put any money down to hold a apartment.
Been living here for a little while now and have mixed reviews of the place. The complex itself is fairly nice and well kept and the amenities are nice. The 1 star is for the management team.PROS: like I stated above, nice grounds, well kept, two nice swimming pools, and a nice gym for when I dont feel like driving to TCUs crowded recreational center. Residents I have met here have all been very nice. The community tends to largely be TCU students so keep that in mind. Ive heard/read from several that this complex was notorious for being loud due to many TCU students but in my experience, it has been fine (though the train yard just next door gets quite annoying at 6 am). Also it is 2 minutes from campus for any future horned frog residents. HOWEVER, all of the pros above have 0 to do with Crest management as they were pre-dated by a management team who truly cared for the residents.CONS: Mangement mangement mangement. Did I say management? Wow, the unprofessionalism they display is second to none in my experience (with the exception of AT&T lol). Really wish I could separate the management from the apartment complex itself as I would give the apartment complex a 4 and the management a number that is below 0. The only reason I chose this complex was due to the proximity to TCU and the fact that I was out of time and did not have time to apartment shop. While trying to apply, the management team will vaguely give you instructions on how to apply and what is needed from you, and will be beyond annoyed any time you call and ask for clarification or if they need anything from your end. 7 different folks on my team who live here expressed the exact same concerns. The lady who gave my wife and I the tour seemed to be annoyed with our existence and was reluctant to answer questions. Whenever I have a question about a payment, a problem with my unit, or literally anything concerning the apartment and I approach the team, I am met with the exact opposite of good customer service from the management team. They are rude, they treat me like I am stupid, they are on their phones all the time, they never smile (not that that really matters); they genuinely give off the vibe that they hate their jobs. Ive talked to several friends who have moved out who were slapped with $200-$400 cleaning fees because their apartment was not cleaned adequately. Well my wife and I helped one of our friends DEEP CLEAN the entire apartment; I mean this thing was spotless, nicer than when we moved in, and Crest management still charged $350ish for cleaning fees. They claimed that they were willing to talk about the charges, but were never available to set up a meeting until after several tries, where they just repeated to our friends that they violated the contract. If anyone who lives here is reading this, or any future residents, and you have a friend who is a lawyer, I suggest bringing them to your apartment if possible to view it and take pictures with you after you finish cleaning so someone with legal authority who can interpret the contract you sign upon moving in and compare it to how you leave the apartment in case Crests greedy 8 ball picks you to be the lucky one to be charged hundreds of dollars. I know we will be doing this. There have also been several cars broken into the last few weeks. The walls are extremely thin. This is a very long review so apologies, but if possible, beware of the management here. Ive heard prior to Crest the management was top notch. Its really unfortunate because this place really is nice and has so much potential, but Crest management just completely sucks the possibility of that ever happening completely away.
The Berkeley apartment was great prior to the new management company taking over. Crest Management has to be the worse management company there is! The office staff is horrible and the property manager Joey is a huge pain to deal with. It seems as if he made it his personal agenda to make our move out experience extremely difficult. This apartment will promise you one thing, and charge you for another!Until new management is put in place I would advise you to look elsewhere. Unless you want to deal with liars and incompetent workers I would stay far away!YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!
Im a new tenant to the Berkeley, and have had a great experience with Cecelia & Erica so far. Before even moving in Id screwed up and they found a way to accommodate and still get me moved in on my scheduled date. The Berkeley has great amenities, and so far their employees far exceed the ones I had at my last apartment.
I went to visit the Berkeleys on Friday 11/15/2019 with my Nephew who was looking for an apartment in Fort Worth area upon visiting the Berkeleys we spoke to the Senior Consultant name CeCelia who showed us a couple of affordable floor plans she was very informative and professional during our visit Highly recommend her and the staff they were also very professional just down to earth people that made our visit feel really good. The Berkeleys had great floor plans, great amenities. The apartments we were shown were very spacious and the area very peaceful.
I have lived here for over 3 years. The price does not match the setting. The office is ill informed, and when you call asking simple questions, be prepared to not have your question answered and for the employee to be snarky and rude, complete with them ultimately hanging up on you in the middle of your sentence. With all of the luxury apartments in downtown Fort Worth, I suggest living in another complex, I know as soon as I am able I will be relocated to an apartment that has better customer service, is safer with less vehicle break-ins, and a more prompt service line for when things break in your apartment. Also safety is a concern, the gates are constantly broken or open, as a result, my car has been broken into TWICE. Again, when you contact the staff regarding a safety issue or break in, they are rude and explain to you how it is your problem. Even after hand delivering a police report. I am also currently still waiting for the replacement washer and dryer for my unit that was supposed to be replaced over 4 months ago. For the expense of a luxury apartment, the Berkeley does not measure up to the expectations. I highly suggest taking your business elsewhere.
The Berkeley Apartments has been, not only a place to call home, but a community of comfort, reliability, and hospitality. When I came to these homes, my situation was not ideal. Luckily, the staff at the Berkeley made it the easiest process possible. A strong thank you to staff member -Cecelia Castillo. She was able to answer all my questions, and have an efficient solution. The Berkeley Apartments is an ideal place to live for not only the young individual, working or in school; but for someone who is looking to live in a place they would be happy to call home.
I lived in this place for one year. Personally I would NOT recommend this place. I have listed the pros and cons below as references for those who are looking for an apartment.Pros:- Location- Apartment size- Plenty of parking spotsCons:- Management Team (very poor)- Move Out Process (difficult and expensive)If you do decide to live here, upon moving out, my roommate and I suggest that you hire a professional cleaning team to make sure your apartment look brand new to avoid a large bill of charges. Our bill was $333. We cleaned our apartment pretty well.
I lived at the Berkeley for 2 and a half years before buying a house and moving out. Before the new management took over, the complex was incredible, well maintained, the staff was friendly and there were constantly community events and perks. With the new management none of that holds true. The front staff is rude and makes it very clear that they dont want you talking to them. Worst of all is the move out process. Its been 3 weeks since we moved out and the only way we get any information on our deposit and final charges is from calling them repeatedly until we get the run around yet again. In their latest excuse theyre refusing to apply our deposit to the charges and threatening to charge us extra for a monthly discount we got as a part of our lease agreement when we first agreed to live there. Despite the fact that we signed a legal contract that states all the terms of our lease, theyre trying to extract every penny from long term tenants that never missed a payment. Stay far away from any properties owned by Crest Management.
Everyone who states that The Berkeley has gone downhill since Crest took over is 100% correct. The office staff are rude and non responsive. The pools are overrun with non-residents who live in the neighborhoods behind the apartments and the office does nothing to attend to the matter. If you call or email, they do not even have the courtesy to respond. There are no longer community activities or anything for the residents. My garage door was broken for two weeks, during which I could not access the garage that I pay for and the office did nothing but tell me not to use it until they could get it repaired. The repairman repaired it, but it broke again the following day and the entire door had to finally be replaced. The canned response on here to any complaint is to contact the manager to address your concerns. That does not work as they either do not respond or just dismiss you rudely. The management and staff are discriminatory and inconsistent depending on whether or not they like you. The management renews leases at discounts to some and will negotiate with some people, but not with others. Notice the trend of primarily negative reviews since the new management took over (without notification to residents). I have been solicited on the grounds by a male for money as well as him asking if he could come into my apartment. I called 911 and the courtesy officer. Police came and caught him as he tried to climb over a back fence, and a report was made. I later learned that the same gentleman had also approached another female in the same way. I was told by the manager (Crest) that they would have to appear in court and was supposed to hear follow up on the matter, but never heard anything more.
While the Berkeley does have nice apartments and amenities, do not be fooled. They will nickel and dime you for absolutely everything. Even trying to move out of the complex was difficult. You can definitely find an equally good community with way better management. Do not live here.
The apartments themselves I would rate 4 stars. They are very nice/clean/quiet, have a gorgeous pool, and dog parks. The area is also extremely safe. The only downsides would be the price (A little expensive but worth it if you can afford it), the noise on weekends (A lot of TCU students live here and it can get a bit loud but nothing you cant ignore), and parking (Some nights I had to drive around for 15-20min to find a spot, this is not a problem if you get a garage which I wish we did). What made me rate these apartments 5 stars though is staff. After moving, I didnt realize how much we too the individuals in the office for granted. Im sure the apartments wouldnt be half as good without this superb staff.
Ive lived here for about 9 months now. As a non-student who wakes up during the work week at 6:45, I have never had problems with noise or being kept up late. Maybe its because I live at the edge of the neighborhood? The gym and pool are well maintained and rarely busy when I use them. The rent is expensive, but its worth it for the location (5 minutes from my downtown office). I have heard rumors of expansion into the field next door. Seems silly since theyre only at about 60% occupancy. If they ask to increase my rent, with construction coming on, I will not sign again. Overall, I like where I live and have experience nothing but good things.
Leaving a quick rave about this place. I ran into quite a few bumps in the road dealing with moving out of my apartment here (no fault of the actual apartments) and Dustin and a few of the ladies in the office have gone above and beyond to help me figure it all out. They have answered the thousands of questions I’ve sent to them with nothing but helpful answers for me and have made sure they’ve done everything they can to take care of me. Thank you so much.
I have lived in the Berkeley Apartments for a while now, but it wasnt until I had the pleasure to work with Cecilla that I felt the customer service here was top notch. Every time I call the office or need something she is always so helpful and informative. She truly goes out of her way to offer the best customer service Ive ever witnessed at an apartment complex. Thanks so much Cecilla for all your hard work and always being so pleasant to talk to.
The office staff is extremely rude, JOEY instructed us to leave the keys and fob on the counter had his painters go in on our move out date they left the doors windows OPEN we went in to take pictures have the time stamp of the drop off thankfully because we took pictures when we dropped them off and are now liable for their employees leaving the doors unlocked and our keys and fob missing. We were just told “it must have been an accident because the doors were supposed to be locked” so why are we liable for your irresponsible employees? They charge you $160 for a pair of keys and fob THEY LOST. We went up there THREE DIFFERENT timeS after we moved out and until the third time were able to pretty much get nothing resolved. Why wouldn’t we have just dropped them off if we have clearly taken time off of our days to try to go speak to someone three times? When we were TOLD to leave them on the counter? We didn’t just randomly decide to leave the keys there had we not been told. They wouldn’t give us any reasonable answers other than “I don’t know what to tell you, I’ve worked with Joey and he wouldn’t do that” so basically it’s he say she say because they’re irresponsible about how they handle your things and just charge you the crazy fees. They don’t care about the residents with any of your problems. Cars are being broken in to, they can’t help you there either, armed robberies for two years in a row and there’s not security measures being taken. Extremely overpriced for the lack of security and irresponsibility of the staff which they don’t mind because they’ll just charge you for their problems. The manager ERIKA was extremely rude as well, don’t pay 1300 for a ONE BEDROOM that’s overpriced just because of the location, these apartments are ridiculous.
After living here for 6 months with my ESA, I was wrongfully billed with a $600 invoice to pay for new carpet. The invoice was paired with photos of chewed holes in the carpet that did not come from my unit. After proving the photos weren’t from my unit, The Berkeley then responded with photos of a “stain” that looked like the carpet was pushed the opposite direction and claimed that my unit smelled so bad of urine that the manager could not enter. Reminder that my dog is a trained support animal. After further investigation, the photo of the “stain” was also not from my unit. I reached out the apartment and disputed the charges, in which they agreed to pay half of the charges. Not good enough - these photos were not from my apartment and I am 100% sure the apartment was in great condition upon departure. I reached out to the BBB and filed a complaint; after a few months of interacting with the BBB, they have told me today that The Berkeley refuses to respond to the complaint or resolve it further. Do not do business with these crooks.
TLDR: Great interiors. Very messy, inconsiderate residents. The Good:I moved to Fort Worth 1.5 years ago after I graduated college. I pay $1150 for a 1 bedroom apartment. Thats pretty pricey, but its a fair price considering how close these apartments are to downtown. I love the interior of my apartment. I live in Phase 2 and I moved into my apartment when it was brand new. I love my modern kitchen and bathroom. The Bad:TCU Students. I am not saying they are all bad, but they definitely have a huge effect on the overall atmosphere and cleanliness of the apartments. There are frequently beer cans/trash/e-cigs left on the stairs and in the hallways. Just last week I walked outside and saw a resident walk out his front door and pee in the grass. They keep me up at night either talking loudly out on their balconies or playing loud music past 12am. They are generally a nuisance (at least the ones who live near me).Valet Trash. There is a set trash pickup Sunday-Thursday at 8pm. It costs $30 a month on top of your rent, and you cannot opt out of it. I actually really like this service. HOWEVER, most people dont pay attention to when trash pick up is, and they just leave bags of trash outside their door 24/7. I have included some pictures. This is what the hallways always look like. There is not enough parking. On TCU game days, you will not find a place to park. That is because friends of residents park at the apartments and then a big group walks (or carpools) to the stadium. The old management talked about issuing parking passes, and threatened to tow non residents, but that never ended up happening.
Prior to management takeover by Crest, the Berkeley was worth the money. However, the management takeover occurred without any notification of tenants at the end of September 2017, so the payment system went down and there were no announcements. So far, Crest has done a great job of undoing the Berkeley’s reputation for fast service and great communication. The new management company apparently does not keep records of payments made by tenants. In fact, we received an angry email demanding a payment for rent in October from one of the managers, Rebecca Morris, stating that they had not received the payment, and had attempted to contact us repeatedly. There were no missed calls, voicemails, or emails from them all month. Ironically, I physically handed Rebecca a check and asked for a receipt on September 30. She told me they had no office supplies yet, so I asked her that she give me a signed copy of my check, with her signature.I’m glad we’re moving out, but it would be irresponsible if I didn’t warn others to keep their own records to prevent issues like this caused by a lack of professionalism, organization, and communication, by a company that is absolutely failing to maintain the standards required for such a large community.
Back story: I have been living here for a couple years now and wanted to give an update for all you google people who read these reviews. I have also read a lot of the reviews and find a lot of them pretty funny and clearly must have been written by people who had recently been pissed off by the management here.Overall: This place is a pretty good place to live. LOCATION.... the location is awesome... I can easily take Berry and get on 35, super easy to get to downtown, a couple miles away from Magnolia street, I can bike less than a mile and hop on the Trinity Trails, you cant beat the location.Price: Reasonable.... we moved into a 1bdr originally and waited/checked pricing on 2bdr/3bdrs for months and months and found an exceptional deal on a 3 bedroom, so do your homework and keep checking prices online. Moving right before TCUs start of semesters is just not smart in this area, move in during summer and save a bunch of money.Peacefulness: This is probably the most annoying thing about this place. The walls are pretty thin, but Ive had worse in apartment complexes. The pool is hit or miss, sometimes is tranquil and no one is there.... same with the gym. The gym is mobbed in the morning and evening... its pretty wide open during lunch time and late night sessions...... other times the pool is basically a Vegas pool party with DJs, questionable rolled cigarettes and it can be rather fraTTastic at times [read: skies out thighs out].They JUST started building the 2nd development in the empty lot across the street.... because of this they start building early in the morning, even on saturdays, and M-F during the hours the city permits them to work. its not THAT bad, but it does suck. There is constantly dirt in the air now - my car seems to constantly have a film of dirt on it now.College kids: I used to hear that this place was THE place to be if you were an undergrad TCU student a couple years ago.... nowadays, there doesnt seem to be TOO many students here. Sure they are prevalent and you can spot some of them easily (brand new Tahoes, BMW X5s, etc.) with TCU sticker and the person driving looks like 19 years old (obviously this is an assumption and Im just poking fun a little). That being said, everyone seems pretty mellow down at least close to the pool where I am... I rarely hear kids partying, but maybe Im in a good spot.Maintenance/front office: Has always been exceptional for us... as soon as we call we have someone out to fix whatever we called on in less than 48 hours. We have called probably 3-4 times and everytime they are very quick and helpful. The front office gals have always been nice to us, they are always cheerful and helpful when we get packages in the front office or need something from them. The late fees are brutal, SO pay your rent on time or feel their wrath. Overall this has not been an issue at all in our experience. Conclusion: The location and pricing are extremely reasonable here. I like having a gym and pool that I can use at anytime. The walls are thin, but not ridiculously thin. Even though the place can be loud at times, overall it is a pretty good place to live with nice amenities. Time it right and you can find a great deal and overall I think you will enjoy it here.
Their management is the worst Ive ever seen. They just want your money and nothing else to do with you. I am a business student and this is the exact opposite of how you want to run a business. If you are a student they will try to take advantage of you. I recommend not living here and dealing with their constant cycling through of staff. They are so unresponsive, unprofessional and their manager will refuse to talk to you. STAY AWAY
Daughters car was broken. We were Ok with that because we live in Houston and that is just city living. My daughters lease ended the end of December and was told because we did not give written notice and were liable for 2 more month. I called to discuss with the young lady in the office. I explained that this was not right and this was the day of social media. People write reviews. I was very nice and said lets work this out. She went ballistic and was yelling. I felt sorry for her. Advice for her, If you hate your job that bad, find something else to do. Life is too short.
A great place to live.been living here for more than 4 years.have watched management and the outlook of the place change hands for years.now its at its best under the management of Sandra and Louise.they are prompt to answer to any request and fixes. The place is actually very clean and comfortable.security is granted.you wont regret you picked out this place to live in
Is it company policy to be extremely RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL to people? The staff should be ashamed at how they treat others. My tour here was less than impressive. I shouldn’t have to beg to see amenities only to NOT be shown them; NOR, should my energy be more positive than the staff’s. No one there actually wants to help people. The only reason why I MIGHT have leased here would be because it is so close to TCU. I would rather spend more money at another place 50 minutes away if I had to rather than dealing with people who clearly just want to show up to work and not do anything. I’ll take my business elsewhere. BYE Felicia!
DO NOT LIVE HERE! The office is full of incompetent girls who were disrespectful to my roommate and me multiple times. There have also been a couple of occasions where men have keyed their way into our apartment. The first time was when we were getting rid of the washer/dryer. I came home to a man standing inside my garage. Apparently the office decided to just give him the key to open the garage since we had the front door dead bolted. The second occasion was when the fire alarms were being inspected. There was a knock on the door at around 8:30am when I was sleeping. I didnt get up immediately because I thought someone was at the neighbors door since the walls are so thin. Next thing I know, someone unlocks the front door and almost walks into my room where I sleep half clothed. I proceeded to sprint into my bathroom and wait for them to finish the inspection. Later, I called the office, explained the situation, and asked if there could be any way residents could be notified of a more specific time for when inspections were done rather than just leaving a note on the door saying they would be coming at some point during the week. The girl told me that it wasnt their problem, that they had no control over the issue and that next time, I should notify THEM of a better time for them to drop by. I have also heard from a reliable source that the cheapest materials were used in building the Berkeleys.Though we have recently moved out, we continue to have problems with them due to a bill we received for some damages that I know we did not make. Overall, this place is over priced and definitely not worth it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
First of all, be ready to lose your deposit to claims of stains that have been assessed by professionals all these stains by the way will be in general areas. And it will be the exact amount of your deposit. No pictures just numbers. So thats it. Plus they will say you were 2 months behind on water and trash even though you were paying for those fees all along. I dont mind paying for something we did but when you did everything to be nice and end up screwed, its frustrating. Anyways thats not the worst of all. Amy the manager is incredibly rude! No ounce of professionalism in that female. She stood up over me and yelled. Very defensive and verbally aggressive. Be warned dont live there or atleast take pictures when you move out because they will screw you over. At the end of the day we are a business -Amy
Edited from a month ago: My car was broken into inside this gated complex, and the office has not even acknowledged the report. I have heard of one other instance of this recently, in addition to many other problems, all beginning with the transfer to new management a month ago. The new management and activities around the complex contribute to a very negative experience. I do not recommend, even though I had previously.
They will give you your renewal options 1 day before you have to give your 60 day notice. 7 or 11 month renewal terms are not normal. Stay away they do not care about residents. People off the street get what they are offering a current resident they do not care about keeping you.
Not bad place to live. If you are an old fart who has nothing to do, this is probably not a place for you.If anything complex has perhaps too many rules (wearing wristband at pool). But overall place is top notch. You are 2 min from down town so cant expect 500$ rent like some ppl on here suggest.
I understand that rent needs to be paid on time (obviously), but I frequently travel internationally for work. With past places I have lived, the property managers are a bit more graceful and understanding about me mailing in rent (the Chinese/French post isnt perfect). But with these fine people, yikes. If your rent is just one day late, you will be slapped with a $100 fine. I dont know, it just seems a little draconian/greedy/excessive.Also, the cost of a two bedroom is $1300/mo (in Fort Worth, TX - Texas). Mind you, that is the cost of a decent apartment in Laguna Beach (and apparently cowboy boot FW). Our maintenance requests would go unattended. And while the front office girls are good looking, God spent more time on their bum than their brains (and thats ok, thats ok). Maybe Im behaving too entitled, and maybe they are just trying to penny pinch.
This is a beautiful complex that has well maintained facilities and certain units even have garages garages... but full of barking, pooping dogs of all sizes. Dogs begin barking at sunrise and continue throughout the day. many times the office phone goes to voice mail during working hours.

2022-07-17Ive lived here since November and have loved my experience here. We moved into a newly renovated unit and everything has been wonderful. We had a couple of maintenance fixes but they were met either the same day or following day. The staff is AMAZING! They do so much, and we always see them about. They are visible and approachable, love them. The Berkeley also does a ton of events and I love to meet people I probably wouldnt because of them. The pools, gyms, everything is on point and it feels like home here. Parking has been great, I know Ill always find a spot. You should definitely live here.

2022-02-26If you dont mind the neighbors music being so loud that it rattles the pictures on your walls, then this may be your place. I have complained to management so many times Ive lost count and they have done NOTHING! The only thing I can commend them on is their security officers, who have come to the rescue when there have been threatenings from drunken residents. I strongly suggest you reconsider if you are planning to live here....or purchase some good ear plugs!!

2022-03-16Awful end to our peaceful stay with the previous management. We enjoyed our stay at The Berkeley, until the new management took over. TERRIBLE ingenuine customer service and the complex was filthy...growing pains isnt an excuse for the lack of care for the property. The loud college kids were bad but manageable. The challenge was that it was impossible to walk without stepping on dog feces. Not to mention the lack of security. Towards the end of our stay we would find trash, beer cans (we would pick up the trash) and random suspicious people walking around. It was awful and the end but were glad its over. Plus, it was hard to get them on the phone which was part of our dilemma, they claimed it was the new transition but every time we went in, the woman that sits on the right of the office and manager were just talking and leaning on the desk. Good luck current residents. NOTE to management: Dont bother to reply as your reply will be a waste of your time.

2022-06-14My apartment got broken into when I resided here and even though I was held at gunpoint and had my most expensive items stolen, the management would not let me switch rooms without “breaking the lease” for $2000, same when I tried to switch beforehand when my roommate wasn’t paying rent and was eating all my groceries and taking my stuff.. NO sympathy at all.. I would’ve stayed there if I could’ve switched rooms but they kept telling me different things every time..

2017-10-23The amenities of this complex are good, two dog parks, 2 pools, one hot tub. Its kind of frustrating though when you have a party and someone forgets to turn the pool lights on and youre swimming in the dark. It would also be nice if the older dog park could specifically be designated for smaller dogs and the other one for larger dogs. Id like to be able to take my 11 lb. dog to the park and let him play without worrying. It would also be nice to have granite countertops in all of your units, not just in Phase 2. The slate countertops I have are blue, which is out of style and doesnt match anything in the apartment. This complex is close to TCU so its a different crowd. The surrounding Berkeley Place neighborhood is very upscale so its nice to walk your dog there. Maintenance is very prompt and I always feel comfortable having them in the apartment. Overall, Id recommend this complex to my friends. My husband and I like living here. Phase 1 landscaping is also exceptional.

2021-12-16I recently moved in the the Berkeley apartments and we all know how annoying it is to move from one place to another. Trust me I get it. I was in the military and I’ve moved all over the place. Now that I’m finally back in Texas and all settled in my, what feels like a mansion of an apartment. I can truly say that it’s definitely a place I call HOME!!! I love it here. The pools are nice and clean, the dog park is great for my killer little chihuahua (Milo), and the office staff always greet me with a smile. 5 stars for sure.

2021-10-20This apartment looks great externally. From both new and previous ownership, the management in their operations, friendliness, and understanding of their residents is really slacking. I have had issues varying from bugs, amenities not operating correctly ( still paying full price), nor helpful front desk personnel. I do not recommend living here aside from a great proximity to all the great things Fort Worth has to offer. I will not be renewing my lease.
