This shop is a quaint book repair service business reminiscent of book shops of old. The owner is in full compliance with Covid protocols - Service is now all by appointment. They also provide mylar covers for books with or without dust jackets. Their work is excellent and at a fair price. If one needs to repair a coveted old, vintage or antique book where the binding has issues, this business can do this - just be prepared that it will be expensive and will take a long time.
I drove almost 30 miles from Frisco to drop off a treasured family Bible. They have a sign hanging in the door this is by appointment only. They were kind enough to come out and tell me I could make an appointment. Their appointment only requirement is clearly on their website but only if you click on the link. If you simply rely on Google like I did it will be a huge waste of time.
The Book Doctor recently finished restoring my copy of Grays Anatomy: Descriptive and Surgical from 1860. When I acquired book, it was in a terrible state. Though the price for the required work to be done gave me a bit of a sticker shock, it turned out absolutely incredible. The book now looks amazing after the restoration and I am glad that I entrusted the job to The Book Doctor. While the time frame seemed to take a while, they did the work by hand and the product was stunning. The staff is friendly and courteous and the business is accessible. Moving forward, I will be returning to The Book Doctor for any restoration work I need done.
In a world where so many items are thrown away, its nice to know you can have a family heirloom or special childhood book repaired or restored. We took my father in laws beloved bible in for a new cover and repairs. It was torn and pages were ripped and the binding was falling apart. The bible was completely repaired, his notes that he had hand written over many years as a minister were all still intact. The cover was replaced with a beautiful navy blue leather. He loves it and is so thrilled. Im absolutely blown away at the artistry that goes into this business. Thank you!
I had a bible restored and recovered as well as an archival newspaper book created - bound and covered from the editions of old school newspapers.I am very pleased with the final products. Candice and her shop did an excellent job.I will say this is not a fast process, youre engaging a service that involves hand-crafted products - but it is well worth the wait!
Over the past few years Ive taken my collection of Civil War era medical books and a hand written scientific ledger dated 1875 here to get restored. I have been very happy with everything they have done for me, thinking it was all beautifully and well done Recently, I acquired tickets to the antiques roadshow down in Corpus Cristi and decided to take my ledger. While the appraiser was examining it, he made a point of commenting on how nice the restoration was and asking where I got it done, vindicating my opinion of them, as far as I am concerned. So, if you need quality work done, go see the professional and friendly people here. Just remember that the quality work they do, can sometimes take a few months to be completed.
I searched long and hard to find a book restorer I could trust to work on a vary rare set of books in my collection dating to 1844. The Book Doctor was unquestionably the right choice. The restoration job is simply outstanding. Not only are the volumes with their custom slipcase now beautiful to behold, but the restoration has increased their value tremendously. I highly recommend The Book Doctor.
Had a bible repaired that was a gift. It is really hard to put a price on repairing an item that holds a huge deal of sentimental and emotional value. That being said, the repair was of exceptional quality, you can not even tell work was done. It was also reasonably priced. Highly recommend to anyone with a book needing work.
We highly recommend this company! They repaired a cookbook that my husband gave me on 11/27/1971, our first anniversary. I had used it so much the book was falling apart. This cookbook was extra special to me since it was a favorite of my fathers.They did an outstanding job I can still use it today!!!
I have used this company for many years and Candice and her crew continue to amaze me with the quality of their work. I have used them for simple rebinds to the most elaborate custom leather designs that you can imagine . Their attention to detail and craftsmanship is second to none .

This place is awesome. I just recently had my wifes Bible rebound. After 25 years, it was literally falling apart. They were able to put it back together and repair a couple pages, and its almost as good as new.
Took a book to them that my roommates dog found rather tasty. Gave them 100 dollar deposit and was told it could be fixed in as long as a few months. Called them multiple times and no one ever got back with me. Stopped by and they were either closed or out of business for a while... I dont know but this place is shady. Never got my money back or even heard back from them.
Heather is a very talented artist who strives for perfection. I highly recommend her for restoring your treasured books.
They did an excellent job on the binding of 2 holy books I gave them. They did take about 3 weeks longer than promised but the binding is excellent

2022-03-01I just received my late grandfathers repaired confirmation Bible back from The Book Doctor. They did such a great job! The front cover with his name was preserved and the new binding feels solid and high-quality. I also really appreciated that they included what was left of the old binding in case I wanted to do anything with it. I couldnt be happier with the work.

2021-12-06The Book Doctor knocked it out of the park again!! I took in a precious Bible I’ve had since November of 1980. The binding looks brand new. It’s good for another 40+ years, which basically means it will outlast me.Thank you for another exceptional job to everyone at The Book Doctor!!

2021-09-18They do wonderful work here. Just realize it will take time, normally several months, to get a book fixed. But the waiting is worth it. My grandmothers cookbook was fixed and I cant even tell someone worked on it. Definitely something that will be passed down in the family and many thanks to Book Doctor for making it possible!

2021-06-10Book Doctor repaired my personal Bible, I was given in 1956. The cover was replaced and several torn pages repaired. It will last to be given to my grandkids.I just delivered two additional books for them to restore for me.The staff is professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. Candace welcomes questions and comments and they all love their career.

2018-06-19I recently took my Bible into The Book Doctor for rebinding with a brand new beautiful leather cover. The work was stellar!! I am amazed with how gorgeous it looks after all the years of wear and tear. I dont know anything about book binding, but I can tell you, I know my Bible is good to go for YEARS and YEARS to come.
