The Edge Apartment Homes in other cities:
I haven’t even gotten into an apartment yet but the staff is absolutely horrible. No one has been clear to be about anything but they are very welcome to me handing money over. This experience of trying to rent from them has by far been the worst. The staff is not there to serve you they are there to clock in and clock out. So don’t expect any hospitality or friendliness from them. The apartments are very nice and welcoming, but the staff will make you walk away.
The management treated my boyfriend and I pretty horribly when he first moved in (February 2016). I wasnt living there but hung out there a lot. They thought I was living there since my car was there a lot, so they said I needed to sign the lease too and pay for a background check. We nicely explained that I didnt live there, and long story short, they were extremely rude to us about it and borderline harassed us about it. They handled the whole thing very unprofessionally. They apparently had some management shifting after that, and they finally left us alone about it after a couple months. The management was still rude sometimes after that, but by the time he moved out in January 2018, they treated us more professionally for the most part. The maintenance man also used to be pretty grumpy, but they had staff changes there too, so that seemed to improve also.
It was a nice stay at first. They had a nice pool and enjoyed the movie nights and free food. The cons are my ac stopped working over and over and they never got it fixed properly so my electric bill kept getting outrageous, but they always made sure you had to pay rent or else then when my lease was up I was happy to leave but they charged me $2500 for breaking the lease that had already ended and for another month when I had already left. And on top of that they double charged all of the fees. Pest, sewer, trash, water, and ect. I do not reccomend it, they like to get your money but never help. Other military service members should avoid this place.
I believe this was the best decision I have ever made in my life. The service they provided was patient with you and understood what u was looking for. The apartments that I asked to see was in great shape the carpet was nice and clean, no holes anywhere and the paint job was great, every place was remolded having a brand new look and feel to every apartment I seen as a happy customer of The Edge Rental I advise everybody looking for a great place to stay come out and visit The Edge Rental
We just moved out after 5 years at The Edge (formerly The Cimarron) and we would have stayed many more if there were bigger units with better laid out floor plans. The staff in the leasing office have always been kind and helpful any time that we needed anything - which was truly rare since we only ever encountered any issues 3 or 4 times with old AC units going out, making noise, or not functioning at 100%. But even when things did go wrong we never had to wait more than a few hours for a fix. I do deduct a star on the review on behalf of the maintenance man we dealt with on every occasion since he always had a bad attitude and made us feel as if we were greatly inconveniencing him when we did need to have him come out. Luckily there were only few instances over the five years when he was actually needed. The updated units are REALLY nice. The appliances, the flooring, and the color scheme make everything seem modern. Everyone in the community seems to respect the quiet hours and noise was never a problem. (:
The staff is super friendly and went out of their way to help us. We walked in and could feel the at home comfort we wanted and knew this was the place. The apartments are beautiful and well maintained. I’ve been happy with the service they have provided towards us. Keep up the great work!
If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Absolutely horrible place to live! The office staff is rude and after you sign that lease, right away, they dont give a crap about you! They are very lazy; I constantly saw them leaving during office hours and actually have seen the manager (Stefanie) and assistant manger (Megan) shopping together DURING OFFICE HOURS! When you go in or call the office, and theyre shopping, the leasing consultant will say, theyre on property, covering for them. Its sad seeing residents trying to pay their bills, and the office being closed when theyre out, not working. We have also had many, many, maintenance issues. Right when we moved in, the toilets were clogged and air didnt work. Well, with it being very hot, I called the office and waited a day for the maintenance man to show up- and nothing. So finally, the next day, when I saw him listening to his iPod walking around, I asked him why he hadnt came to fix our air and he said it had to be 90 degrees for him to properly test it and started being smart with me. Right after that though, he came to the apartment and attempted to fix it. Turns out, we needed a whole new unit and he said it would be a week for them to get us a new one. I was pissed of course, because it was the middle of summer. He suggested I open the windows. How rude! I dont pay $700 a month to have an apartment I JUST moved into, to have my windows open in the heat! He always acts like nothing is wrong when there clearly is something wrong in the apartment. With us living there a year, we had the clogged toilets right when we moved in, had to get a new fridge (all our food ended up spoiling also), new oven (didnt heat at all), parts for dishwasher, and he had to work on our heat/air at LEAST 4-5 times. Also, with the dishwasher- it didnt work for a whole month and when he came, he asked when we were moving out- we told him, (it was only a week later) and he said ok, this part should last that long. (Acting as if it was going to go out as soon as the next people move in.) The maintenance man also was always trying to flirt with me and ask me for hugs in my apartment. I felt very uncomfortable with him, so my husband ended up having to be home every time he had to fix something. He also just bought a new car, and uses the residents water to wash it! We have had many issues with him, and I have heard many other negative comments about him from other residents as well.As you read, the apartments arent really in that great of condition. They were built in the early 80s and have very old appliances in them that are constantly breaking down. Instead of getting residents new ones- they just keep replacing parts over and over to save a little extra money. Like I said earlier, none of them care about the people living there. The laundry room is pretty disgusting also! Ive heard many stories of people getting their clothes stolen- although we never have that I know of. A lot of people in the area know the code to the door and go in, without being a resident. If I had to estimate- I probably saw a police car at the buildings 2-3 times a week. This is not a safe complex to live!My neighbors also had mice problems and notified the office right away. They literally did NOTHING! The office told them (the residents) to put a SOS pad in the wall, and that would stop the mice from coming in. Any human with a brain, would know that wouldn’t work. They kept getting more and more mice- finally the residents had to call the person over the manager (Stefanie) to get anything accomplished. They were able to move out but Cimarron kept their whole deposit- even though my neighbors were living with mice for 2 months! The day I moved out, I was so relieved! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED PEOPLE! Cimarron is a terrible place to live, and I hope you decide to rent elsewhere in Abilene- even if it’s a little more money. You get what you pay for!!!
I have been Living here for 4 years and now I am moving bc the apartments customer service is terrible all they do is lie to you. They never install new carpet like they say they do. I havent been able to use my dish washer in 2YEARS bc they never send some one out to fix it. They said they were going to send an expert my counter top is all falling down. Water faucets are old and rusty. Avoid these apartments at all cost. !!!!!
If i can give 0 stars I absolutely would this is the most terrible apartments you can stay at in abilene texas they never want to help and i told them that I didn’t want to renew my lease they avoided helping me out and when asking them when is my last day they told me i have to stay and extra 3 months because i was supposed to sign my lease termination 60 days in advanced and never told me anything about it. Everytime i try to talk with them they avoid me. Absolutely trash would never recommend these apartments to my worst enemy
RENTER BEWARE. I applied with this complex letting them know about money that had been paid to another complex upon move out. They said no issue I paid the 125.00 up front. Then they would not take bank statement that showed the payments to the property. They are now saying it will take 30 to 45 days to get my 125.00 back. They are crooked and go against their word. I was honest from the get go and they have been nothing but deceptive. Do not trust these people with your money. If I could do 0 stars I would.
Overall, I had a decent to slightly above average living experience at the Edge. Had a few issues with the AC/heat unit and getting the maintenance staff to fix the issue, but contacting the Staff directly is helpful when major issues may arise, especially Lisa. Would recommend the Edge, but would also say to keep in mind that it isnt always perfect.
Awesome staff but their management company is taking Covid into their own hands. Pools closed at 5 instead of at 10, what difference does that make? Compared to OTHER complexes who have regular pools times it doesnt make sense, were all pent up in our houses. Also, Gym is closed while city gyms are open? Doesnt make sense.
I would give this place 0 stars if i could. My wife and I lived at cimarron for a few years now and its gone completely down hill. First of all their appliances are old and outdated constantly breaking down. The oven is always going out. The lights are always going out i guess due to outdated wiring. Weve had major problems with maintenance coming in when they are unscheduled and with no warnings even though is states in our contract that it is against it.The apartment is infested with crickets that are piling up and dying in our walls and light fixtures. The staff is extremely rude and uncaring. We have never been late on rent and recently were told we had to pay $100 fine for not picking up our dogs poop but would only tell us someone saw but have no proof and no where in our contract does it say we have to pay $100 for he said, she said crap. Now they are saying if we dont pay the fine it will be taken out of our rent and our rent will be delinquent and late fees will occur which is completley against the law. I even had a paralegal call and tell them that it was against the law and the office staff refused to talk to them about the situation. Ive had maintanance try to come in unnannounced while my wife was home alone in the shower and she went to the door and told them to stop trying to open it because she wasnt dressed, and they were still trying to come in anyways. The office just apologized and seemed to shrug it off.Overall we cant wait until our lease is up in July, this place is okay if youre desperate to stay NO LONGER than a year but thats it. Completely unprofessional and rude. Once you sign the lease they dont give a crap about your well being.I constantly see staff breaking their own rules and pinning things on tenants when they fall short.By far worst place ive ever lived, rent is cheap but you get what you pay for.
I had some special request such as showing up very early in the morning (around 2 am) and needing to be able to access the apartment and ot was met without incident. There was a consistent dialogue between myself and the leasing personnel that made the move in entirely smooth. The apartment is as nice as advertised
Horrible. Just absolutely horrible. Brad is the only staff member that is professional. The management and maintenance staff are incredibly rude. Even though this complex is over 20 years old they are incredibly bothered with service requests. Rent is kind of high considering they dont have washer and dryer hookups and they are very small. I would definetley check out Riatta Ranch across the street first. Riatta Ranch is ran by a professional staff team and a reputable management company. Be extremely cautious considering a move here. They will be nice until you sign the lease. From that point on youll see what all the negative reviews are for. There are a ton of options in Abilene. Make this place a last resort!
Very unprofessional. The leasing consultant was very nice and helpful however her supervisor was obnoxious. Any time the leasing consultant would say that she didn’t know something but would figure it out for us the supervisor would SCREAM things from the other room. The supervisor (maybe Nancy) never came out to introduce herself. I would give one star but the actual leasing consultant was quite friendly and professional, though I do feel bad that she works with such a terribly rude person.
Well I moved in a week ago and the A/C has yet to work. My roommate and I are starting to really regret our choice deciding to live in these apartments. When we told the front office about our A/C issues we were told to “Close other vents around the apartment to increase air pressure.” Well I find that hard to do with no air coming through to begin with. Also we should not have to settle for something like that instead of it being fixed. Hot summer out in here Abilene and I’m feeling like I’m sleeping in a room outside. VERY dissatisfied.
GREAT PLACE TO LIVE!!! I moved here without knowing anything about Abilene and realized I could get a great rate at The Edge and still be able to get to anywhere around town within a 15 minute drive. Staff is super nice and welcoming and if you ever need something fixed you can just request it on your phone. Right down the street from ACU, United supermarket, The Fieldhouse gym, and some drive thru food spots. Definitely call and compare prices! Trust me, you’ll be happy you did.
I stayed there for about 2-3 years. I found the staff to be very unprofessional , and un caring. They violated the the lease agreement , and then had the nerve to turn the whole situation around when I got ready to vacate and gave my notice they told me that I could not take advantage of the written clause, in the TAA lease agreement concerning 30 day notice with option of relenting .I was told that it would not do me any good? That manager would look you in your eyes, and lie to you. I had a very serious problem in my apartment where there needed to be duct cleaning it was acutally a health concern because I was breathing in all of the particles that were sent out of the a/c system. She acted concerned but never did anything about it. I really think very few of the so-called agents were not trained in leasing management so sad that people are treated the way I was. And then theyturned around and filed it on my credit, which does not stop me for getting anything I want. But I will be looking to sue them for any exisiting or further health problems. RENTERS BEWARE
What use is a newly renovated fitness room when the AC is never on? Its always 90 degrees in there.Aside from that, this is a nice complex for the price. Maintenance has been ok. My favorite part is their pet-friendly attitude.EDIT: Thanks for looking into and fixing it @TheEdgeApartments
The grounds are constantly filthy, old broken down appliances. I was attacked here on site and the office worker Brad ran off and told me he was off the clock and refused to even help me. Constantly big dirty dogs swimming in the swimming pool and people being loud and drunk down there. Everyone who doesnt live here around town comes here to party because they know nobody manages this apartment complex . As soon as the office closes its like Compton down here If you go to the office staff for anything they tell you call the Abilene Police Department because theyre not responsible for what happens in the complex. Very unsafe place to live.
At first I really enjoyed living here. It was quiet and never had neighbor problems. I had a falling out with my ex-husband because he was abusive and i needed to get out 2 months before the lease was up. I told them i would need to pay my way out, which my ex was in full agreement to, and explained the situation. She told me it was pretty much tough luck and if he messed up the apartment it was on me.What makes me extremely furious is when they INFORMED me there was ANY balance it was already in collections. What makes it worse is part of what they are charging me for is unpaid rent that HE left! Not to mention all the charges for bogus cleaning and random holes in the wall that werent there when i left. These people would rather me stay and get abused than take my money (which in my opinion is just more money for them, so i dont know why they didnt) to take my name off the lease and then pin my ex for whatever EXTRA expenses. HORRIBLE! DO NOT RENT HERE! THEY GIVE ZERO CARES FOR ANYONES WELL BEING!!!
The staff is very unprofessional and the apartments are a mess. In the three years we lived there, there were four separate electrical fires in the complex due the faulty wiring or management refusing to police residents violating the fire code. Management also tried to ding us for damage that was already done to the apartment when we moved out and we had to threaten to hire an attorney to get our deposit back.
Very disappointed in this apartment, I have received a letter from the office today stating that I am 6 days late in my rent and utility bill, first of all my water dont due till the 17th, and second of all I had emailed the front office on my situation and that I will pay the rent plus any late fees once I get my taxes and thats in another week, I was cut short on money due to relocated jobs, I have not been late on any of my bills or rent since Ive lived here, I have been here for almost 2yrs... Haved not complained about anything as much there is to complain about.. But that wont do any good!! So the letter stated posted today that I have till 02/12/2016 to be out, they do know I have little babies...u would think after being a valued customer they will treat you with alittle but more consideration HORRIBLE PLACE!! I shouldve had read the reviews before I even came here... THIS IS MY FIRST TIME BEING LATE EVER!!
My brother starting to look for a place. I always read reviews, these are all very helpful. You, may need to call the BBB and speak with an attorney on some of these matters. These people seem to be scammers and mistreat others that live here. Fight and be heard for what is right. This sounds like they make up their own rules and regulations. I am giving a 5 star for all the reviews and feedback. Report, report report!
My first year in the apartments was fine but at the end of my second lease.... They withheld my deposit plus charged me extra because I didnt get around to wiping out my refrigerator and the eyes on the stove......since when does it cost 125 dollars to just buy new ones you can get an entire set at Walmart for 20 dollars..... These people will steal your money and expect more......dont do it.

2021-10-26The apartments are very pretty and the yard is amazing but its not a great place to live, the fridge was broken when we moved in and took over 4 months for them to fix, everyone Ive talked to in our building also has a horrible ant problem. And the washers and dryers are always down this is the 2nd time this month Ive had to go to the laundromat. For some reason there is always a banana in the grass outside, it will stay for several weeks before it gets picked up by staff and another one is back within days, and your catalytic converter will get stolen.

2021-06-17Resident since 1999, great place and convenient location. Maintenance and office staff are the best! Joe and Stuart repaired my A/C system in record time, going above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Megan in the office kept me up to date as well. Highly recommend this apartment community!

2019-06-23My honest review after living here a little over a year: The interiors and exteriors of the apartments are nice and recently renovated/painted. The pool, basketball & tennis court are really nice as well. A few of the washer and dryers don’t work. The cold water pressure in my kitchen sink is weak. When I occasionally go into the main office the leasing ladies are nice. The two maintenance guys have treated me nice too, but here is where my main problem was... Only 1 of the maintenance guys is certified to work on Air Conditioners. Since I’ve lived here I’ve put in a handful of service request or called the after hours maintenance emergency number d/t my A/C not working. A couple times it’s been a quick fix but last September I had to go over a week with no A/C, but luckily when I asked to sleep in a vacant apt next door in the meantime he let me. The past couple weeks I’ve had trouble with my A/C unit stalling and not cooling the inside of my apt. Maintenance eventually came a couple times but wasn’t able to take the time to fix it because he had 17 other people with A/C problems so I just paid over $200 for an A/C repair guy in town to come out and fix the problem b/c there is only 1 maintenance guy that’s expected to fix everybody’s A/C problems in a timely manner and I wasn’t gonna keep waiting. I like living here but just know, if there’s a mechanical/electrical problem with your A/C it could take up to a week of you trying to sleep and function in a 90° apartment.

2016-11-03I truly have no complaints about my experience here. I had to move out of a bad situation and get my own apartment in a matter of 48 hrs. The management was helpful in quickly getting a lease. They have been great to me and very commendating. Maintenance is always quick to fix issues that I had and even work around my sleep schedule cause I work nights. The complex is always clean and I safe pretty safe living here. I have had a very positive experience here and if i have to move back into an apartment. I will definitely be talking to them again. Thanks for everything.

2019-09-30Towards the end of my lease I brought home my newborn son. The weekend after he was born we had water leaking from the ceiling in our living room area. We called the 24 hour maintenance line and one of the maintenance guys came that morning. That morning my son was in the room when he cut through the ceiling leaving Debris everywhere. Maintenance never returned to fix issue and left their mess all over our living room. We moved out soon after and told them we were leaving. We were never talked with about the end of our lease which was up on July 1st. We were told that we had to pay rent through the end of August even though we no longer stayed there. Each month they kept finding fees to charge us with. 30 days after we turned in our keys we received a bill for bogus charges from 60+ days prior. We had paid all these fees. They scammed us out of over $1000. They didnt care about my newborn son being exposed to ceiling debris and the open hole in our ceiling that was never covered. They werent understanding whatsoever when it came to us wanting out of our lease. Still having trouble over a month after move out. Would not recommend!!!

2017-10-19Really not happy here. The reviews about them stealing your money are very true. The apartments are also not as they seem. The plugs in my bathroom dont work and my carpet has been coming up since the first day I moved here. It has been 6 months and no one has come by to fix them. The women in the offices are also very rude. Brad is the best one but even he can be on the rude side. As soon as you sign your lease you pretty much disappear to them. Customer service has never been great here, even years ago.All the bad reviews are VERY VERY true!! BEWARE!!also extremely over priced! our rent is around $650 a month for a one bedroom one bath. You can go to Villages at Westlake and get a 3 bedroom 2 bath for only $675 a month INCLUDING WATER, WITH washer and dryer hook ups.PLEASE STAY AWAY THIS PLACE IS TRASH!!

2019-10-25I lived here 2 years and never really had any issues. Our appliances never broke , our AC and heater never broke so we never had to deal with maintenance. We never had issues with bugs either, other than your run of the mill fruit flies but I think that was just our own doing. They sprayed for bugs often. Our apartment was newly renovated when we moved in so I had new appliances which was nice. I also like that the apartment came with a built in HUGE microwave. The dishwasher was big too. Considering it was just a 500 or so sq ft appartment, the kitchen was a decent size and had a pantry and plenty of cabinets and counter space. The pool was always clean and never super crowded . I also liked that management did monthly things like giving out free food (whole large pizzas and chick fil a meals) to the residents (first come first serve, but they didnt really ever run out until like 30 min or so after so I always got a pizza or meal) and movie nights by the pool during the summer for the residents. I dont have a dog, but the dog park was pretty decent sized and they had a basketball court . Also, my car and my fiances car were never broken into despite that being a bad area. Its only bad if you mess with people and we never did. We also lived right across from a cop and our cars were always parked by his so maybe that helped a bit. Big patio and neighbors were never super noisy,Now the bad...When we resigned the 2nd year we only really did so because we were in between getting new jobs and didnt want to move, so they raised our rent which was about 600 to 630. Our apartment was once again, about 520 sq ft and I was paying over 600....if we had stayed a third year it would have just been a lot of money with no space. We found cheaper, bigger places on the south side which is where we lived before moving in here. I didnt like the office hours either...I work 8-530 and thats their office hours and if I needed to pick up packages in the office Id have to wait until Saturdays because they closed before i got home, and opened after I left/ Plus they close the office during their lunch which is during EVERYONE ELSES lunch and they take like hour long breaks so dont bother going by between 12:30 and 1:30. When we resigned our lease they told us they would clean our carpet for free on like the monday after and we moved all our stuff and waited two days then called and left a message but never got a response and Im just like if you promise to do something and even set a date as management, I shouldnt even have had to call . I didnt care for management. They were nice, but like always had random animals in the office and I never really got to know the office staff. Last but not least, if you have a problem with noise ...just dont stay here. You have a few factors like the train that is right next door, ACU which is down the road and there is a truck station right next to building 1, which we didnt know about until after we moved in but I thin kit was a place where truck drivers stopped to get paid. You would just constantly hear noise from the outside and I didnt care because i can sleep through anything, but if you sleep light and NEED to sleep (military etc) I would avoid this complex.

2017-11-15I recommend moving to another apartment because the staff here dont know how to treat residents. The man in the front office is usually helpful but wow the other workers are BAD. When asking about moving out all 3 of the employees that day came to the front desk to push some policy when I was requesting a written promise that I wouldnt be evicted. I get that they have policies to follow but they were trying to forcefully cram it down my throat like I GET IT THANK YOU SO MUCH. The ruuuuudest staff seriously. A maintenance man who worked here when I lived here always made me feel uncomfortable when he would straight up stare at my chest or request a hug from me. Very creepy. My apartment never had serious bug problems but the AC NEVER WORKED. I would have to put in several maintenance requests before they would actually fix the issue. Endlessly frustrating when it is 100+ degrees outside. Once after getting off work and getting home at 7:30 I noticed my AC wasnt working and when I called to put in an emergency request I heard nothing back so when I called the courtesy officer (only person I could talk to after hours) he told me the maintenance guy wouldnt come out after it was dark but this was during the summer when it wouldnt get dark until 8:30 or 8:45 - absolutely awful to not have AC during the summer MULTIPLE times (especially when you have pets!). Also when I moved in they said they would come out 24/7 for the AC since it was an emergency type of maintenance issue. Youll have sometimes less than 24 hours notice for pest control which can be annoying. Like I mentioned before staff are ridiculously under-trained in regards to customer service they talk to you like they resent you or that you are the scum of the earth - not exaggerating. Worst apartment experience Ive had & this is my 3rd apartment (1st in Abilene). Im not sure if the attitude I got was just typical for Abilene, but it was so unacceptable. Hated living here so much. Plus my un-renovated unit was hideous and TINY. Also I got back less than I was told I would regarding my deposit which sucked (lived here 2 years by the way). In addition I had random creeps come up to my door a few times (at least 2 separate occasions) and one guy legit asked to buy weed off me before running through the hole in the fence. BAD security. People dumpster dive here like CRAZY.
